An attached, private guest suite in a unique lovely new home. Rural, beautiful, open 5 acres with breathtaking views at the foot of the Three Sisters. On a private dead end road surrounded by thousands of acres of Forest Service and BLM land. Feels like miles from nowhere, yet just 15 minutes to Sisters and 30 minutes to downtown Bend. Very peaceful and quiet. Come and relax, explore the area by bicycle or by foot, watch birds, stargaze, and simply commune with nature. A truly special property.

Accesso per gli ospiti
We enjoy sharing the beauty of our property and house with others, and we will do our best to make ourselves available during your visit for a personal tour, if desired, and to answer any questions guests may have.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
Our home was completed in January 2016 and is made from local pumice with a binder and poured into forms to make 14” exterior walls. The pumice creates pockets of air in the walls so they breathe but also insulate. The exterior walls are stucco and the interior walls are a combination of non-toxic paint and a beautiful soft Italian plaster in warm and comforting colors. The flooring is wide-plank white oak and we have 10 foot ceilings for a spacious feeling. With radiant heat we stay comfortably warm in the winter and cool in the summer. The house is full of light. This type of building is popular in the Southwest, and as far as we know, we are the only 'pumice crete' home in Central Oregon, and possibly the entire Northwest area of the US.

INTERNET, WIFI, AND PHONE SERVICE
• INTERNET and WIFI is available on the property. Because of our rural location there will be spotty moments of reception.
• PHONE SERVICE: Can also be spotty. Wifi phone service is the most dependable.

OUR PETS
• OUR DOG, Cali, is a young sweet Border collie mix. She is quite active and she is usually outside off leash during the day. She is protective and can be a bit shy at first. She does not bark very much but will bark and sometimes, sing, if coyotes are near.
• OUR CATS: BOO and STANLEY will also be out and about the property during the day. Boo is the darker and Stanley is the soft grey one.
• We keep all our animals INSIDE at night due to the coyotes that travel through this area.

THE GREAT OUTDOORS
• PATIO: 2 wicker chairs, 2 wicker lounge chairs, coffee table, umbrella upon request, and an outdoor propane push-button fire pit for those warm still evenings when you just don’t want to go inside. The picnic table in the lawn is also for your private use. The sunsets here can amaze and excite and take your breath away. Not to mention the cloud formations that can be just as spectacular. The clouds are continually changing over the Sisters and create some truly unique skyscapes all day long.
• POND: Our pond has a comfortable sand entry and was built for swimming. The deepest part is 6 feet. It’s available to use with advance notice. We provide beach towels.
• LIKE BIRDS? BRING YOUR BINOCULARS. Our pond attracts many birds of the area. You can sometimes hear great horned owls hooting from the trees, nesting tree swallows return every year in Spring to our 5 bird boxes in the eaves of the house, along with western bluebirds, flickers, and many others.
• OTHER CRITTERS: Mule deer may wander through the property at night, and you can sometimes hear the coyotes singing nearby. In the spring we have a cacophony of teeny Pacific Chorus Frog song around the pond, followed by hundreds of tadpoles, and then tons of little frogs everywhere. There is the occasional cottontail and jack rabbit, and chipmunks run amok. The butterfly swarms are a beautiful sight to see. It’s a constant surprise.
• BIG SKY. At night when it’s clear and dark the stars are abundant and the Milky Way is brilliant. It’s a great place to star gaze without the city lights and to have fun looking for UFOs. Bundle up.
• WEATHER: Our elevation is about 3350 feet and the weather is ever changeable and unpredictable. You can get sunburned very easily, and mountain weather means temperatures drop as the sun sets. It is possible to get frost any time of the year.

OUR STREET IS, BUT ISN’T ALWAYS, DELICIOUS
Delicious is a mile long pretty straight dirt road and, during the summer, can be dusty with washboards . THE BEST SPEED FOR A ROAD WITH WASHBOARDS IS 25-35 MPH. Please do not exceed this speed, and please slow down after Barbara Way and when you see another car. Thank you!

Winter weather and driving: Our road (Delicious) is not plowed. Be sure to check weather conditions before you head out - or contact us for an update. Normally, it is not a problem, but from time to time snow tires or 4-wheel drive is recommended.

Our little neighborhood off Delicious Street and Barbara Way is an almost invisible rural community of 13 homes, mostly nestled amongst the trees and unseen by others. We all enjoy the quiet and the wild, being respectful and protective of each other's privacy and individuality, and we all have an ongoing love of the area.

Gary and I retired to Bend in early 2015 after a long busy life in the Bay Area. Gary is a native Californian and I was born and raised in Honolulu but spent most of my adult life in Marin County, CA raising my children and working in SF. We truly feel the wonder and enchantment of rural Central Oregon here in Bend in our newly built home at the foot of the Three Sisters. Life has become incredibly rich for us as we continue to explore the beauty and intimacy of the natural world. We both relish fun. This includes canoeing, hiking, watching birds, wildlife and stars, and taking trips in our little vintage trailer. We are adventurers on many levels, and while we love to travel and explore the back roads and natural beauty of the world, we also love to explore our own creativity and depth and the more of who we are and who we are becoming. We love to ponder the mysteries of life from new and ever changing perspectives.

We would like to meet you upon your arrival, or the next morning, to introduce ourselves. We respect your privacy and are available directly by text or phone. We respectfully ask that you ask in advance if you would like friends to visit the property.

Gary and I are both artists with our own expressions. I chose to focus on bronze figurative work over the years, and Gary has always loved to work with wood. He has made several pieces of elegant furniture in our home as well as some beautiful small boxes. I decided to change course for a while and created three landscape installations on our property. If interested, we would be happy to share our projects with you.
