This is truly a step back in time. The carriage house of famous historic mansion has two apartments, this is the West unit. Mostly rustic but with a modern bathroom. This is for those who seek an adventure experience unlike any hotel or modern renovated home. Queen built in bed plus 2 built in Twin beds. Dining Table. Small equipped kitchen. Shared fairytale style rambling garden and courtyard. More details in expanded description areas!

The carriage house apartment has a cabin vibe. It is rustic and is in the economy rental category despite being on the grounds with essentially a castle, keep in mind this is not a slick or luxurious unit. This is a humble but cool apartment. Its living room and dining room area has two built in twin beds that double as sofa/lounge seating. We have a small tv with basic local channels. The kitchen is stocked with utensils. The bedroom has a built in Queen bed and a modern en suite bathroom. The bathroom has a real door but the other rooms are separated by curtains in the doorways NOT real doors. There is a AC unit (window unit, not central) and wireless internet access from the main house. The internet signal isn't strong enough for serious work from home but there is a Starbucks and another cafe within 1 block.

The gardens can be explored but no other apartments or the main house are accessible if you book this carriage house apartment you will not share the interior space with anyone. There is a small common foyer type entry before you get to your private apartment door.

This castle-like home has a large garden/yard which is shared by the owner, a long term renter and 3 other vacation rentals. The owner of this home has lived in the main house for many years.

Parking is free and easy on the street (either Hall Street or Lincoln Street).

When you checkout, you are expected to leave the kitchen clean (no dirty dishes). Gather up your trash and if you have more than 1 lightweight bag of trash you are expected to take it to the green trash bins in the alley behind the house. Your cleaning fee does not cover washing your dishes or handling your trash but it includes setup with clean linens upon arrival, and when you depart the maid will launder the linens and sanitize the bathroom. Unusual messes such as food spills should be cleaned by the guest before departure. Anything that was unusually soiled or could be stained should be reported asap so we know what happened and can try to save it.

Remember that Twin beds are shorter than King or Queens. These are standard Twin length so do not book for tall adults who will be disappointed with standard Twin beds in the common room. You can look up standard American bed sizes.

The price is reflective of the rustic unit, with one window ac unit instead of central ac. We have a TV but we do not have Cable TV only a digital antenna with a few local channels. Guests who choose this unit should understand there is a good reason this is less expensive than remodeled modernized rentals nearby. Those who are adventurous and not too picky have an opportunity to stay in magnificent historic compound for a low rate. We want everyone to be happy so please consider this when booking.

Events, holidays and stays during March & April may require 3 night minimums and/or have higher rates than the standard ones published.

This is a traditional vacation rental home, not a “bed and breakfast”. We do not provide food or drinks but we do provide basic cooking and serving utensils, a coffee maker, and dish soap. Downtown Savannah has a major supermarket (Kroger) and a 24 hour market (Parkers on Drayton) so there is no need to pack everything from home if shopping when you get here makes more sense.

What to bring with you:

A typical grocery run prior to arriving at your vacation home would include coffee, beer/wine, milk, eggs, butter, bread and any other basic groceries you would need for the meals you eat in the home.

When it comes to coffee, bring your own ground coffee. The carriage house has a 4-cup drip coffee maker. We do not typically provide coffee but if you find coffee in the carriage house please feel free to use it.

You should bring or buy your own napkins, laundry detergent, your own beach towels and beach gear, and your own cooler if you need one.

What we provide:

We provide toilet paper (2 extras per bathroom), liquid hand washing dish soap, bathroom soap, sheets on each bed, and at least one bath towel for each guest. We do not permit our towels to be taken out of the house which is why you must bring your own towels if you visit the beach.

If you find we have left seasonings, oil, dishwasher pellets, or any unopened food or drinks then of course feel free to use what is there. We occasionally leave items but just cannot promise them all the time.

Please also note that in Savannah, sugar ants can smell cookies, spilled sugar or syrup, or an open sugar container from a mile away and will find a way in through a windowsill or door frame. It can be somewhat like a cartoon picnic where they march in a line to find the food. To avoid this try to keep your snacks contained in air tight baggies, the refrigerator, or buy single serve packets and put the trash in the outdoor trash cans as soon as possible.

The following is standard Savannah Luxury Rentals information: We provide sheets, toilet paper and soap. If you prefer thick cushioned toilet paper bring it along but use it sparingly in our older plumbing and never flush "flushable" wipes or other products that are likely to cause a clog.
