Descrizione

A lovely stone built cottage in the small village of Powburn, close to the Cheviot hills. The cottage, many years ago a stable has an open fireplace. Great for relaxing by after days out in the national park.

Weekend breaks/midweek breaks possible.
Powburn is at the foot of Northumberland's Cheviot Hills. Our cottage is very near the turn off for Ingram valley. Both country and coast are easily accessible. Numerous castles on the fabulous Northumberland coastal trail frequented by walkers and cyclists are on your doorstep, as well the large cities of Newcastle (50 mins) and Edinburgh (1hr 30mins). It is a fabulous area for walking cycling or exploring by car. Great cycle and walking routes are accessible straight from the front door. The Alnwick castle made famous by Harry Potter is 8 miles away. Alnwick also has a pool and leisure centre. 5 minutes walk takes you to the nearest shop for provisions, there is even an extensive antiques emporium there as featured on the BBC antiques road trip program. Our property was originally used as a stable and was converted many years ago into a 2 bedroomed stone built cottage. It is set back from the main road with a gravelled square to the front of the property. It can accommodate 4 people. The cottage is centrally heated by LPG and has a new combi boiler supplying heating and instant hot water, this is included in the price. There is a comfortable cosy lounge with open fire and 32ins HDMI TV with freeview. There is an Initial supply of wood and coal . A small selection of card and board games suitable for all ages are there for your use. There are 2 bedrooms of similar size one with a king size bed and the other has 2 single divans, suitable for children or adults, which can be pushed together to make another large double bed if desired. There is good storage for clothes and suitcases in the bedrooms from inbuilt cupboards.
Parking is no problem for cars or a camper van if you are touring.
There are 2 outbuildings which can provide secure outside storage for 4 bikes.
The bathroom and kitchen have both been newly fitted. The kitchen is well equipped including a microwave, electric oven fridge freezer and washing machine. There is a small table which can seat 4. The bathroom is downstairs and it has a shower over the bath.
All bed linen and a large and small towel are supplied for each person.
There are numerous tourist attractions in the area and we have a detailed brochure of these in the cottage.
The nearest pub is in Glanton, a 3 minute drive or 30 minute walk. There is children's play park one minute walk away. With swings, climbing frames, and a zip wire.

Guests have access to the whole cottage

We live only 10 minutes away in Rothbury so will be available and happy to be contacted if the need arises. For you reassurance we will always meet and greet whatever time of day or night.

The cottage is reached by travelling on the A697. If travelling from the south when entering Powburn the Plough Inn pub is on your right (pub is presently closed) turn sharp right into its car park and drive through, baring left. The cottage is second on your left. If travelling from the north along the A697 then turn immediately left after the pub into its car park and drive through bearing left, the cottage is second on the left.

Fantastic place. It's perfectly situated for the coast and the hills. We are a family of four with 11 & 13 year old boys - we stayed in the winter and still found plenty to do (and got the benefit of the log fire). Matt and Lindsay were super hosts and the place was absolutely spotless. Thank you - we will definitely be back!

Lovely welcome after lots of traffic holdups , I communicated with Matt throughout the day of arrival. I got held up in traffic a couple of times, which meant we were about an hour later than we thought. This was no problem at all to Matt, he gave us a rundown on appliances, heating etc. The cottage was spotless, spacious and really comfortable. Great location for walks and the Antique shop was a bonus. Wooler is about 8 miles away and the views on the drive are great. All in all a great stay.

The house was exceptionally clean and comfortable and quiet. There is a petrol station and convenience shop only just round the corner, which is great for supplies. Easy to find and Matt was waiting to explain things on arrival.

Excellent cottage in quiet part of a quiet village. Matt ensured everything was ready for an easy check in and immediately we felt at home. The cottage is warm and comfortable. It's ideally located and there is plenty of walking out of the door and within a short drive. We would love to visit again!

Such a lovely cottage and very welcoming hosts. Loved how clean the cottage was and the open fire. Nice welcoming touches like tea, biscuits and logs for the fire. We will definitely be back :)
