Shannon Cottage (summer)

Comfortable cosy cottage beside Mt Ruapehu. Ideal for bikers, Tongariro Crossing hikers or photographers exploring the local scenery. Independent so you can come and go at will. Full kitchen (though basic with retro fridge and no dishwasher), TV, DVDs and Chromecast, unlimited wifi, laundry, heating & aircon. One double room and one room with 2 singles (that can push together), plus a couch bed in the living room and a travel cot. From mid-May to Oct book 'Shannon Cottage (winter)' instead.

The Tiny Escape

Unwind from the demands of daily life & reconnect with nature! Surrounded by natives & nestled upon the hillside with expansive views overlooking our farm & the Valley below, this is a space to sit back & enjoy. Our Tiny House is off grid. It has double glazing, a mini fireplace, toilet with vanity in add-on bathroom off the deck, large porch area for dining and 2 outdoor baths for soaking in the views. Dogs allowed but outside only, a kennel is available Welcome to your Tiny Escape!

DuxHouse BnB - cooked breakfast included

Opened in 2022, DuxHouse BnB is conveniently located in Taihape's Motel District on SH1. We are centrally located in the beautiful Rangitikei in the Central North Island. Tongariro NP (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) is just over 45 mins away. Perfect for hiking in summer, or snow fun in winter. Central towns, such as Whanganui and Palmerston North are just over an hour away. Further afield are Napier (2hrs), Taupo (2 hrs), and Wellington (3hrs) making Taihape the perfect central pitstop.

Gum Tree Haven

Our place is close to the great Tongariro National Park. It includes Mt Ruapehu for skiing or snow boarding and tramping. Walk the world famous Tongariro Crossing and discover the cycle ways, kayak the Whanganui River and explore the 'Bridge to No Where'. Try trout fishing, a game of golf or visit the Waiouru Army Museum. Enjoy our cosy home with a wood fire whilst taking in the amazing mountain and rural views. Our place is good for couples and families (with kids) or small groups.

Waireka Apartment

Waireka Apartment, situated in Ohakune in the Ruapehu District is a self contained 2 bedroom apartment each with a queen size bed, a large lounge with mountain views, kitchen and own spa pool. Spa Pool operates from 10am to 10pm Cleaning on departure is included in the rate. Cliff Top Cottage off SH1

Quaint cottage. Sleeps up to 6. 800m away from the iconic Vinegar Hill. Just 3 minutes off SH1, on a quiet road, perfect rural escape. Let us help make going away easy, just bring your clothes, toiletries and food, and you are good to go! PLEASE NOTE - we have just taken over managing Flat Hills Cafe And Tourist Park, which is 10 minutes from the cottage. We have relocated most of our farm animals there. You're welcome to come and visit us and meet the animals there for free.

Historic Bank in Rural Village - a great escape.

Cosy fire, Vault bathroom. Multi-night discounts. Continental breakfast. Cafe and Pub within a two minute walk. River and bush walks a plenty. A fabulous diversion encompassing spectacular views. You will be staying in the character filled, old Kimbolton BNZ Bank (complete with teller box). This is a great Digital Nomad option - with ski fields within 2.5 hours. I live in the "Managers Quarters" which are through a door from the bank (the walls are very thick).

Other cycle tracks nearby include Fisher Track, Bridge to Nowhere, Tramway Track and 42nd Traverse Mountain bike track. Bike hire available at Ohakune & National Park We are halfway between Whakapapa and Turoa skifields. 10minutes to Ohakune and 15 minutesNational Park Village. Visit Owhango ( 25 minutes ) for fishing, hunting and bush walks.
