Oceania: soggiorni in bus

We loved Bertha! Had a fantastic stay, stunning spot and surrounds, so peaceful and beautiful, our little cow neighbours were the best! So nice and friendly and they even liked our dogs. Our dogs also had the best time it was excellent to be able to take them. The bus was so quirky and cute, like glamping and as expected for a vintage bus that there will still be bugs etc but was definitely kept clean and perfectly stocked for everything we needed. Would definitely stay again, thank you Maria and Ben

There was much excitement pulling up to the Bus itself. Even from the outside, we knew it would be good. It turned out to be better, it was amazing!! What an experience! Every little nook and cranny of this place has been thought about. Great workmanship on the woodwork in the bus. It had all you would need. We were a family of 4 - 2 adults and 2 kids - and we were very comfortable. You would think that it would be a squeeze but it’s like a tardus in there. You actually couldn’t tell u were in a bus once ur in it. Kids loved the outdoor space too. It was truly a unique experience and check out at 11am was an unexpected bonus! Got to enjoy it for that bit longer :)

We loved staying in the bus - love the 70s arts n crafts revival features like the leadlight windows and original art nouveau dresser. The kitchen building is well designed, so that it is somehow warm despite being slightly open to the elements. The "stairs" were a little daunting at first, but I was confidently trotting up and down by day 2. This is a camping experience with hard surfaces - if you like to go camping, you will love this. It was lovely having the fire going, and super relaxed. Really enjoyed the presence of fantails, tui and a grey warbler. Lovely bush walks close by and the local pub/hotel does a really good dinner. It rained lightly while we were there, but because most of the bus-to-wharepaku-to-kitchen track is via the bush, it's quite dry and sheltered. It was nice being off-grid, with enough wifi in the kitchen to send and receive messages - it did struggle with sending photos or accessing larger web pages. A lovely environment to sit and read and take naps.

Fantastic stay and definitely want to stay in the Treehouse next time for a couple of days. The scented sauna was a superb experience, and overall, really loved the property, views and off-grid experience away from phones and emails. 10 stars. ☺️

Paisible retraite dans le Bus Rouge, aux portes de la péninsule de Banks. L’espace est très agréable et cosy, un « nid » dans lequel je me suis tout de suite sentie chez moi. J’ai apprécié le soin apporté à la décoration mais aussi les nombreuses choses utiles et agréables telles que fourneau pour un vrai feu de bois, bouillotte, grand lit, couvertures de réserve, jeux, produits ménagers écologiques, vaisselle, huile, thé, etc. La communication avec Arielle a été très fluide. Merci 🌺

We had a great stay at Kookaburra retreat. So peaceful and relaxing. The retreat has a rustic charm and is in a great spot for walking. Melita is a great host. Clear communication and very responsive to messages. We can’t wait to go back!

We had the most wonderful weekend away. Maria was very quick to respond to any of our questions and had some great local suggestions. We look forward to our next visit. Thanks for hosting us 😊

It's a beautiful place , it's look better in real than in the photos and it's spacious, try to live in a bus as its wonderful, the reason we stay longer and most is the host is awesome, very attentive and responsive , just my net Is low the reason I can't receive messages immediately but place are comfortable, clean, crispy lennin, outside shower is amazing, hear the kokabarra tweet every afternoon, Lynne did a great job about this place because it's safe and private with fence, highly recommended, we will stay again for sure, try it , try the tablelands weather its perfect which 25 degrees mostly everyday and we are in the middle of summer, to the host thumbs up, a great lady host with her million dollar smile or worth more and I want to show my relatives about this place and book ahead for Xmas , also 15 to 20 minutes by walk, maybe shorter with others as I have short legs lol to the town for groceries and pub and coffee shop, tourist spot like d heritage village nearby

It was such a cool and different experience. It was also a peaceful setting for us as we travelled to the Blues Fest each day and night. Some days were so relaxing we didn’t want to leave. Beautiful walking tracks, waterfalls and towns to visit in the surrounding area. Thank you Zac 🙏

We had such a beautiful weekend. Samantha and Steven did an incredible job designing and creating a cozy, well-equipped space with everything you could need. We loved everything about our little weekend getaway. Thank you for sharing Benny the Bus, it was such a special experience!

Can’t recommend this place enough - was such a perfect spot to curl up with tea and crafts and enjoy the beautiful surrounds. We didn’t have great reception so just turned all our phones off and enjoyed walking around, the campfire, trips to town & swimming in the GORGY creek. Hosts were incredibly kind and lovely - and sleeping in the converted bus was both novel and cosy. Keen to come back!!

Unique but great experience and Liza is a fantastic host. For those looking to find a more sociable, environmental / down to earth experience, this place is for you.

We stayed at Bus 1 and we were a little worried whether it will be too tight or not. But it had everything we needed, two small fridges to fit all our foods, enough fresh linen and towels for a family of 4. It was a different experience for us. There is a kitchen right outside our bus which has most of the appliances. There are no stoves but we have seen people bringing their electric stove or portable stove. There is laundry room as well but we didn’t need to use it. All in all, they have everything you need and if you have any questions, just reach out. The front desk was very helpful. We were struggling to open the door and they helped us straight away. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family.

My stay in Evi the bus has been nothing other than extremely pleasant. Andrea and her husband John are very kind, welcoming people and their dog Bruno is a real sweetheart. The bus itself is very comfortable and precisely like the pictures represent. The location is perfect for exploring the area (Waitangi, Russell, Paihia) and even for making a trip towards Cape Reinga. The hospitality has been heartwarming and even late at night when I was in need of some help, Andrea came over to assist me. Plus, she even gave me a nature lesson with some very interesting facts about the nightlife and the sounds we could hear outside. Hearing a Kiwi-sound, a Morepork owl and seeing the galaxy extremely clearly from right outside the bus has been an amazing extra. Thanks again for the wonderful few days!

A lovely off grid bus experience in the bush. Loved listening to dusk and dawn in the bush. It had everything I needed for an overnight stay. Other facilities being bathroom and kitchen are in the main house which wasn’t too far away. There’s a little fridge in the bus with portable aircon which was handy. Thanks

Worth every penny. Beautiful location. My family stay comfortably in the bus although there were 6 of us. The staff was friendly on site. Only suggestion I have is it would have been great to have additional lights near the main bedroom.

Eine sehr coole Idee, und auch sehr gut umgesetzt! Es war mal was völlig anderes, und hat für eine Nacht Mal eine neue Erfahrung gebracht! Das Badezimmer war makellos, und die Betten waren gemütlich! Es gab eine grosse Aussenanlage zum Kochen, was wir für uns allein hatten 😊 Das einzig Blöde war dass, als wir beide Heizungen anhatten, die Sicherung rausgeflogen ist, aber die wollen das beheben. Wir würden auf jeden Fall gern wiederkommen!!
