The Owl Nest House - vacation living, farm style.

The Owl Nest sleeps up to 8 guests (6 adults and 2 kids). A 2nd level braai area seats 14 people around a 4m table. The house offers 3 bedrooms and 2 on-suite bathrooms. Note - the bathroom arrangement allow for occupation of not more than 2 couples/families. The well-equipped kitchen comes fitted with a dishwasher & 2x retro fridges. Coffee & tee is provided. Slow burning fireplace, electric blankets, heaters & camping cot. A tranquil setting on the edge of town - a true Karoo farm feeling.

Lovingly restored, this listed heritage Cape cottage in the heart of Graaff-Reinet is the perfect spot for a Karoo getaway with friends or family. This unique house has recently been renovated and now boasts 3 en suite rooms. With beautiful wooden floors throughout the house it is very cosy. There is air conditioning in every room which is essential in the Graaff-Reinet summer. We also have hot blankets on the beds to make you comfortable during the cold winters. There are re charable lights throughout the house to beat loadshedding blues. We use a self checck in. Bring the whole family to this beautiful home with lots of room for fun!

Ironstone Cottage

Fully self catering, 2 bedroom farm cottage, 1 double bed, 1 king bed/twin, each with en suite bathroom. Plunge pool, firepit, Wifi, aircon, indoor fireplace, barbecue. Linen & towels provided. 4x4 or high clearance strongly advised PLEASE NOTE THAT THE AIRCONS ARE PROVIDED FOR COOLING THE HOUSES IN THE HOT SUMMER MONTHS BETWEEN OCTOBER AND APRIL, NOT FOR HEATING AS THE FARM IS ON SOLAR. Electric blankets, blankets, duvets, hot water bottles are provided and each house has a fireplace.

The Heritage House

A historic house with whitewashed walls and Oregon floors and ceilings. It has three bedrooms, two of them with double beds, both with French doors opening to a private garden. The third is a twin room. The house has a large open-plan kitchen/living room. A stay should include a tour of the stunning art and giant tapestries made by local Bushmen descendants. The three galleries and the studio give visitors a chance to see local artists at work and chat with them about their heritage.

No9 Cottage

A centrally-located home for friends & families to stop over or spend a few days exploring the spacious Karoo. The cottage boasts 2 large en-suite bedrooms, a comfortable living room & equipped kitchen. The well maintained garden provides space to stretch your legs & marvel at the Karoo sky. It also offers secure off street parking, so no need to unpack everything for a night but hopefully two. We also have you covered with solar & wi-fi. See you soon....

Honeymoon Suite

Luxury suite with open-plan kitchen and lounge (fireplace) area and separate bedroom king size bed and private bathroom with shower, situated in a small poplar forest in a quiet village near the Owl House. Furrows Lodge is walking distance from the local pub, restaurants, Owl House, art galleries and the local brewery. All suites have complimentary coffee or tea. We have "braai" / barbecue facilities and a dedicated smoking area. Free Wi-Fi.

Shepherd's Tree Game Farm Cottage

A quiet, private and peaceful cottage 17km from Graaff-Reinet . Surrounded by nature and mountains. Abundant birdlife. Endless scope for walking, hiking, mountain biking and picnics. 4x4 roads. Looking beautiful after some rain! Cottage has fully equipped kitchen and 2 en-suite bedrooms as well as a sleeper couch in the living area. Living area has airconditioning. Playwright's House, Nieu-Bethesda

This unpretentious, rustic and secluded Karoo home is where internationally acclaimed playwright and writer Athol Fugard wrote between 1990 and 2017. It's on the peaceful northeastern corner of our quaint village. Crystal-clear Karoo air, intense night skies, crackling winter fires, tranquillity. The cottage draws travellers, explorers, friends & families seeking connection; and it's an inspiring creative space.

"Mukti" is Sanskrit for spiritual liberation. We have always wanted a soulful, peaceful space where we can go to to clear our minds and hearts and we found our little paradise in Nieu-Bethesda. We renovated the property extensively, whilst paying respect to the heritage and character of the home. The interiors have been beautifully curated and designed, with top quality bedding and utilities.

Nestled between the mountains of the picturesque Erasmuskloof outside Graaff-Reinet, Gryshuisie is a recent addition to Waterval farmstay.
