We had a great stay! The location of the house is excellent, and Millicent was incredibly helpful throughout our visit. George and the staff at the house were warm, welcoming, and cooked delicious meals. Overall, a great experience!

Wow Wow Wow, what an amazing place. If you are looking for absolute peace and tranquility then Shanti House in Lamu is the place to go. Amazing setting right on the beach with breathtaking sunset, great beach walks, etc. The staff where great and Steven the house assistant was there to help with anything when needed. Although there is great restaurants around, no need to go out and look for restaurants as the chef Katana was amazing and his food was spectacular. I highly recommend Shanti House for anyone looking for an amazing beach holiday experience.

I spent a week at Ras Firdaws with 6 of my friends to celebrate my 50th birthday, and I couldn’t have chosen a more perfect villa and location. The Villa is so spacious, all rooms have en suite bathrooms and there are plenty of balconies and various areas to relax and chill. There is a rooftop terrace, perfect for sundowners- we even had a live music performance there on the evening of my birthday! Being right on the water it was conveniently located for water taxi/Dhow pick ups and drop offs. And for taking a dip in the bay to cool down. The villa comes with a wonderful team of friendly staff who shopped, cooked, cleaned and took care of all our needs with a smile. The owners/hosts were extremely helpful in providing us with any assistance or information we needed. All in all we had the most blissful holiday and have all fallen in love with magical Lamu.

I travelled to Shela with my husband and toddler. We had the whole place to ourselves. It was our (not so) little paradise for four nights and we would be delighted to return with more of our friends in tow. The house is beautiful and exactly as described. Chef Ali, Ali and Vincent are warm, welcoming and caring hosts. Once you get the hang of Shela’s winding streets, it’s very easy to find from the port. Highly recommend sundowners and dinner at Peponi’s hotel although Chef Ali makes a mean fish curry too!

Spectacular. I don’t think any words can justify our incredible stay at Forodhani House but I’ll try. The house itself is jaw-dropping. Charming Swahili architectural elements with an open floor plan that maximizes the 180 degree sea view. The bedrooms are generous to say the least, with well designed en-suite bathrooms that rival 5-star hotels. Yes. You will be wowed by how it looks. But the best part of the house is how it feels. The way it’s designed, the cross breeze flows beautifully through the entire property. And still, somehow the house isn’t the best part of our stay. The best part is the house staff. Without too much fuss or fanfare, the staff preemptively cared for our every need. They remembered how we liked our tea and how we liked the lights to be at dinner. 5-star service from beginning to end. Then there was the food. every meal prepare by the in-house chef Cylus left us speechless. We didn’t eat dinner anywhere else. Core memory stuff.

Our stay at Ttunu House was absolutely incredible. The property is stunning and spacious, offering multiple areas to relax. The rooms are enormous and feature beautiful, immaculate bathrooms. The team made our experience even more exceptional. Cornelius, the house manager, was incredibly attentive and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, arranging activities and offering fantastic recommendations. Chef Stephan's meals were delicious, and he was very flexible with our requests, even taking us to the market to shop for our stay. Jackson, the housekeeper, kept Ttunu House spotless and took care of our laundry every day. We truly lacked for nothing. Ttunu House is, without a doubt, the perfect place for a magical vacation.

Claire’s place was a beautifully restored Swahili stone house, with lots of original features and a great pool. Very central location, Thomas and Steven the house keepers were very helpful and Thomas is a great cook. I would highly recommend White House for a great Lamu experience.

the house is super beautiful, very airy and the wind passes through. the pool is great and the rooftop terrace is jist incredible for star gazing. the location is as described, some 10mins walk from Peponi. it's an easy walk and allows you to feel a bit more like part of the local life. however, it's not so comfortable for going to the beach, perhaps more for hanging out in the beautiful house, going out for dinners.. a great option for a larger group of friends. we felt a bit like the house staff intruded our privacy a bit too much on the first day, but this was quickly addressed when we spoke to the manager and Bassam.

Jannah house is glorious. Traditional, well maintained and a perfect location. I could spend everyday on that rooftop. Would definitely come here again.

We had a wonderful 5-day stay in Lamu. The service was outstanding, the meals were delicious with a chef who took great care of us, and the house was impeccable. Nina and Jamal were very responsive to our requests. The house is perfectly located right on the water, between the pool and the sea, with plenty of shaded areas thanks to several patios. We will definitely come back!

À noter que nous n'avons pas été logés dans la maison de Gilles mais dans celle, attenante, de sa soeur Fabienne. Gilles a été très réactif après un problème de calendrier de réservation. En tout cas, chez Fabienne, superbe logement, et accueil impeccable! A recommander.

La casa di Hannah è splendida, dotata di tutti i comfort, arredata con semplicità e grande gusto, con dettagli non da poco. Non manca nulla, ma proprio nulla, dai teli mare alla governante che fa il bucato tutti i giorni ai mobili colorati in plastica riciclata che sembra legno recuperato. Per non parlare del cuoco... eccezionale... Chiedetegli di preparare pesce e verdure e vi saprà stupire. Ma poi coi granchi allo zenzero vi lascerà a bocca aperta. La casa è sempre ventilata e soprattutto la terrazza alta è perfetta per rilassarsi sull'amaca. È infine Hannah, la padrona di casa, gentilissima e attenta a ogni nostra esigenza senza mai essere invadente. Non si potrà non ritornare!

We had a very happy easy time. Lamu was hot and steamy and do the fans and breezes were welcome from the great design of the house. Lawrence the chef, host and general in charge person was a delight as was Philip.

Mauro‘s stay is a wonderful oasis in the midst of Shela. We thoroughly enjoyed the location the picturesque views from the top balcony and the cosy kitchenette on the main floor. The bedrooms were comfortable, clean and spacious en-suite’s. Miss Dama the housekeeper is an excellent cook, we really enjoyed her peppered fried fish and mango avocado salad, very recommendable. Mauro was an excellent host, extremely quick to respond, offering hints, tips and advice for Lamu. I would definitely recommend Mauro‘s stay in Shela!

His description does not really do it justice! It is far bigger than you will expect and easily accommodate 6 without issues. Best thing though, was Abdillah himself. Friendly, helpful and a great tour guide around the village of Shela. This has been his home his entire life and it shows. I would recommend anyone wanting a relaxing yet exciting vacation, long or short, to visit Shela and stay in his place. We will be returning next year with our children! Give thanks Abdillah One Love
