We came with three kids and were a bit nervous about being off the beaten path — but this place turned out to be a gem. The garden is like a wonderland, the house is well-equipped (we cooked pancakes in the morning!), and everyone — especially Arali and Brenda the caretakers — made sure we were safe and comfortable. The rooms are charmingly rustic, though you should know that there’s no hot water on demand. You can ask for it to be heated, but we actually ended up enjoying the cool morning rinse — it woke us up better than coffee. :) There’s currently no direct way to reach the lake, which was a small letdown for our kids. But with all the other experiences — the theatre night with Rayka, the drumming, the monkeys — they didn’t even remember this by the end! Its a very unique place - go check it out!

Perfekt getaway för dig som vill uppleva Ugandas natur, kärlek och stillhet tillsammans med familj eller vänner. Daniela tog emot oss med öppna armar och vi kände oss som hemma direkt, vi hade möjligheten att vara där under Jul. Vi badade, besteg stora kullar, grillade, allt inom 200 meters räckhåll från gården. Drömmigt! Kommer definitivt komma tillbaka dit, hur ska man inte?

This is an amazing house with an absolutely stunning view over the beautiful lake and hills! The house is very large and well set up: there is a large communal living area and kitchen, huge terrace and several bed- and bathrooms. Two families can easily share. Christopher the housekeeper was very helpful and set up a fire for us on the first night. We had a wonderful time and I would be very happy to return! One thing we were disappointed about: The jetty to the lake was broken in parts, which made it difficult to get into and out of the lake. I suggest future guests who want to use the lake for swimming check with the house owners if the jetty has been repaired. Thanks!

Gorgeous getaway with very friendly ans helpful staff. We loved the views and how remote it felt! The only issue we encountered was the inaccessibility of the property after rain. However, the staff was very caring and helpful, offering a quick resolution.

Wat een schitterende plek is dit? Adembenemend! Een houten lodge met schitterend uitzicht op het crater lake! Rayka en Brenda zijn heel behulpzaam om heerlijk ontbijt te maken en advies te geven om leuke activiteiten en lekkere restaurantjes voor te stellen! Als je van avontuur houdt, moet je hier zeker naartoe!

Julia war eine fantastische Gastgeberin! Sie war äußerst hilfsbereit, aufmerksam und hat sich viel Zeit genommen, um alles rund um die Unterkunft und die spannenden sozialen Projekte in der Umgebung zu erklären. Ich freue mich schon jetzt auf meinen nächsten Besuch!

My partner and I have been coming to Uganda for long stays over the last few years, and this was most wonderful and authentic Airbnb experience so far. JPs stylish cabin is nestled inside a community that feels very peaceful, surrounded by nature and with a wonderful view of the Rwenzori mountains. yet you can get to the city of Fort Portal in a 15-20 minute boda or car ride. Meeting JP was also one of the highlights of this stay. He is very warm, friendly and great to chat to. He is very responsive and quickly available. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and pleasant. When we informed JP we would be working remotely in the cabin during our 2 week stay he quickly installed a WiFi router and upgraded the solar electricity installation to accommodate us. Highly recommend booking this place during your visit to Fort Portal for a truly pleasant and unique stay!

Jojo is a very warm and welcoming host. Her place was easy to find and she greeted us when we arrived. She also lives in the house and she made us a delicious breakfast in the mornings which filled us up for the whole day. She has a beautiful garden which we enjoyed sitting in and picking gooseberries from. She even sent my friend home with some flower seeds. Overall, a comfortable, quiet and welcoming place if you want to feel right at home in Fort Portal!
