Hedgehog Hut is a cozy riverfront studio on the Shell Rock River in the heart of Greene, Iowa. Step out the back door onto a spacious waterfront deck designed for relaxing, outdoor dining, and evenings by the fire while overlooking the water. Walk less than a block to downtown shops and a nearby bar and grill, then unwind with comfortable sleeping for family, a collection of movies, and peaceful river views just outside your door. Simple, scenic, and centrally located for an easy, relaxing stay.

The Carter House 1866 also known as Marriage House

The historic Carter House was built by its namesake J.H. Carter in 1866. Carter was one of the most prominent and influential residents of Shell Rock. He was a founding father of many of the community's businesses. The House remained in his family until 1952. In 2022, the Carter House was purchased by Star Valley Hospitality and was completely renovated. This stylish single family home boasts 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is now an inviting short-term rental.

On We Go

Step out the back door to immediately enjoy the sights and sounds of the Shell Rock River. Located one block off Greene Main Street. Easily walk to the local bar and restaurant, get coffee or fresh baked goods! Grocery store, pool, park, golf simulator, ice cream, doctors office and pharmacy are all 1-2 blocks away. Open concept living with 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Public boat ramp 2 blocks away and you can dock your boat at our dock while you stay!

The WATER PLACE is a family friendly place to stay in Greene, Iowa. You can sit, relax and toss a line in the water when you are enjoying the deck that over looks the Shell Rock River. Greene has 2 parks, a 9 hole, par 36 golf course, a virtual golf and other sports simulator, a bowling alley and a aquatic center that your family can enjoy, also.
