I love this place!! I will be staying here whenever I have to come to the area for my quarterly grad school residency. Everyone was really nice and considerate. I had a great time hanging out and chatting with the VERY interesting hostess and other residence. I was only in town for 9 days but I needed a place to stay that was within walking distance from school and had access to a kitchen so I could save money by not having to eat out for every meal, and Stonehenge fit the bill. I was easily able to take one bus to both downtown Palo Alto and Mountain View. There was a great strip mall close by with a very nice grocery store, coffee shop, and restaurants close by. Wonderful experience I highly recommend Stonehenge!!
I arrived two days later than expected and left one day early, so I did not stay the entire time - wouldn't give me a refund and the girl said "I'm sure you understand, I have to eat" I wanted to leave because the house was FILTHY. If you run an AirBNB place, and you know you're about to have guests, CLEAN THE DARN PLACE UP. I wore my Crocs in the shower because I didn't want to touch anything. It really looked bad. In carpeted areas, the carpet needed cleaning (or at least vacuuming), and it smelled dirty in there. There was food left out for days, and it was just overall unhygienic. Instead of cleaning up as a host, she spent the majority of her time (when I was there) on the computer.
I roomed with two guys and had to leave every morning at 8am. That means I had to get up early. They complained about the light being on for five minutes so I could get my stuff together - and after I answered their condescending questions, got even more rude. I guess that's the 100% acceptance rate for you.
THE PLACE HAS NO HEAT SO BE PREPARED TO SHIVER AT NIGHT IN THE WINTER. That's right people, no central heat. They have space heaters but either it was broke or just too small because it definitely did not heat the room. She should really install central heat.
The host smelled of sweat and like she hadn't changed her pad for her period in a week. Well if she's nasty, that explains why the house is.
The look of the property isn't that great. Very grimy, and made me hate looking at it. It could use some work.
I'm currently paying $45 a night for a bunk in a beautiful 1905 Victorian home that was well kept up. I paid $60 a night, there. The better deal is the former. It's clean, I feel comfortable, and the people smell great!
The pictures are very deceptive, which has taught me to go check out the place before I make the final decision to stay. The house looked really fun and inviting from pictures, but I didn't get that impression at all.
The host was fairly nice. A little abrasive at times, but nice. Another guy I met there was pretty nice as well. Would I go back to stay there? No.
Great people! The bed was nice. The shower wasn't great.
Great place with wonderful hosts and cool guests! I will definitely recommend stonehenge to every hacker.
P.S. remember to try door dash when you stay there
Katy and Garrett are awesome hosts. It felt like I've been living there for years. Very laidback and easy going place. Highly recommend staying here!
First time in the Bay Area and Stonehenge treated me very well! Awesome folks always coming and going through there. If you're looking for a great time to spend short or log term with awesome people, then Stonehenge is the place for you.
Definitely a memorable 4 months there :)
Katy and Garrett were both great. If you need a place to stay in Palo Alto for a few days/weeks and want to meet some cool people as well, go with the Stonehenge.
Whether you're visiting Silicon Valley for a quick visit or you're new to town and need a place to get your feet on the ground, you can hardly do better than a stay at Stonehenge. You will quickly find yourself at home amongst this energetic yet easy-going community of young professionals.
As well as being a safe and comfortable place to call home, Stonehenge affords newcomers an opportunity to make great friends and establish a strong network from day one. The common room is the center of all the action, here, and is where you'll often find yourself playing video games with NASA engineers, sharing a meal with developers and interns at (website hidden), Groupon, and IMO, or kicking back with Stanford grads and entrepreneurs from all over the world.
Stonehenge is the right place if you're new in the area and you are looking for contact to (not only) tech people. If you need help with something, just ask for it. Short walk/bike distances to public transportation and grocery stores. I really enjoyed my stay there, met some interesting people and I'm leaving with an awesome impression of Silicon Valley.
Stonehenge is a wonderful place to stay. Kathy and Garret are the best hosts I have stayed with so fare. Not only are they always friendly and warmly but they will help you with anything you'd want. Furthermore the other people at the house are great to hang out with and interesting to talk to. All in all this adds up to a very enjoyable atmosphere. I can recommend staying here to everyone.
Had another great two weeks at Stonehange after staying at Katy's house already last year. Stonehenge is great and there are interesting people walking to meet with around the clock. If that's not enough, Katy and Garrett make sure that you have everything you need. It's a shame I have to leave again already. Thanks guys!
Katy is an excellent host and a great friend and mentor. She has many, many connections all over Silicon Valley and more than just providing food and shelter for folks, can help people build things together. The house is amazing, and very well kept. I look forward to hanging out there and meeting the people who stay there as well :)
The people at treehouse are amazing. Staying with this awesome crowd will allow you to understand the silicon valley culture in a deeper dimension. If you are a geek who is interested in cool stuff you will learn plenty!
Plus, people are super laid-back. If you are easy-going you will have a memorable time at treehouse.
A wonderful place to hang out, connect with nerds, launch a company, build a spacecraft, go for a swim, climb a tree, compose a song, or plant a garden.
I've lived at the treehouse even before it started doing AirBnB - wonderful people in a very cool house. Amazing community.
Treehouse is clearly the only place to stay when you are up for some fun people and great discussions. You're never lonely or bored here and the other guests are consistently amazing people.
I know a few people who live at Treehouse personally (Katy for one) and a few more somewhat but not as well; they're all excellent people. I stayed at Treehouse for a bit less than a week last winter and I enjoyed every minute.
I lived at this place for several months before it went up on AirBnB and absolutely loved it! Katy and her housemates are absolutely wonderful, inspiring, and fun. Highly recommended.
The Treehouse is a cool house with fast internet and really great people. It's fun to just kick back and chat with the geeks who come and go. And Katy is a super awesome host!
This hacker house is awesome. There are interesting people, soft couches, and crazy decorations. You'll get the full "Silicon Valley" experience here, this house even has it's own garage start-up. My only warning: Once you visit you won't want to leave.
