Per saperne di più
Our weekend at Camp Wandawega was spectacular, quiet, cozy, quaint, and everything we wanted it to be. My husband and I were greeted by Bill as soon as we drove into camp and shown the grounds. He explained the history behind the buildings, shared fun stories and let us explore. Bill also helped us find everything we needed from the archery kit to where to catch a Northern Pike. Joe suggested 2 FANTASTIC restaurants that we can't wait to visit again. In fact, upon our return, I learned my grandparents and great-grandparents had both visited our Saturday recommendation (one of the best prime rib dinners I've had in a while). One surprised was just how clean and well-maintained everything was (especially after reading The Manifesto of Low Expectations). It was rustic, but knowing that I personally am not a tent kinda gal, I could totally handle this place. Charming doesn't even begin to describe this place. The campfire was set up for us. And every time you turned a corner there was an Instagram moment. Every nook in this place is perfectly styled. Thank you David and Tereasa for sharing your lovely space with my husband and I. If you'll have us, we can't wait to return.
We had such a wonderful time at Camp Wandawega. I traveled with a group of 10 and we rented out the top floor of the bunkhouse, which was perfect in every way. The description made it sound like we would be roughing it, but the accommodations were clean, beautiful, comfortable, and our every need was catered to. We had a blast running around camp like 12-year-olds, playing on the swings, canoeing around the gorgeous lake, trying our hand at archery, and kicking some ass at shuffleboard. Tereasa and David were so warm and approachable. Welcomed us to camp with beer and invited us into their kitchen for coffee in the morning--they were really lovely. And their helper, Joe, was very accommodating. He set up fires for us without us even asking, and told us we could call him at 2am to fix a lightbulb if we wanted to. (Of course we didn't, but it was very sweet!) Everything surpassed our high expectations and we had the most fun and memorable weekend. We can't wait to return.
Everything you've read about David and Tereasa is true. Friendly, warm and welcoming doesn't begin to describe it.

Camp Wandawega was everything I expected and more. The property is spectacular and the cabin was even better. Joe could not have been more helpful with everything from a late in the evening pizza recommendation to helping prepare pork chops from the local butcher. Lots of things to do indoors and out (ping pong anyone?) as well as plenty of places to relax with a great book or nap on a hammock. The showers, bathrooms and kitchens are fine, very clean and in great working order. My cabin was perfect, overlooking the beach and very private with plenty of room for two. You have to spend some time in the Tree House at night, so beautiful and quiet. This is a place that should be on everyone's airbnb wishlist. I'll be back.......... soon !
We had a great stay at Camp Wandawega! The accommodations were rustic, yet charming just as the pictures showed. Everything was very clean and well-cared for. Joe, one of the caretakers, took great care of us during our stay--showing us how to shoot arrows, telling us stories, lighting fires, recommending the best place to buy beer, making us coffee... We took full advantage of our night at camp, using the rope swing, playing badminton, canoe racing, sack racing and archery. A great spot for a corporate retreat. Would absolutely return!
My 3 boys will never forget Camp Wandawega! We had a fabulous time. The cabins and property were old school charming and super fun. Our stay was unbelievably relaxing for me and my husband. While, our sons loved all the activities - especially the rope swings. Thanks, Tereasa and David for sharing!
Remember when the past came in two varieties: pre-Starbucks and "Those were the days" At Camp Wandawega there is something compelling about stepping back in time for a camp adventure! First off, a cocktail in a vintage shaken, not stirred style. We had great fun at Camp Wandawega!! Simple reality, time to explore, wide open space to dream, fresh air, meals shared with loved ones, enjoyment and laughter. Gratitude of the vision shared by David & Thereasa, and staff, as well as, loving the magical murmurings of other Wandawega guests sharing an evening well lived... we look forward to the next time at camp.
This is a beautiful place in all seasons. We came here as part of our honeymoon and loved everything about it. The hospitality is outstanding, the surroundings gorgeous and the accommodations a stylish, "high camp retro mod" Will be coming back for sure.
My husband and I spent an incredible fall weekend at Camp Wandawega. Joe (one of the caretakers) met us Friday evening and gave us a full tour. Our expectations were exceeded. We do hope to return. There is magic in this place.
I can absolutely vouch for Tereasa and David - they are wonderful people! And their place in Elkhorn is absolutely amazing; set on picturesque Lake Wandawega, their property is an idyllic escape from hustle and bustle of the everyday.
Whether you choose to spend your time exploring the property and amenities or wandering around the lake and hiking trails, it only takes a few hours at Wandawega to refresh the soul and rekindle the spirit.
I know David in person and although I've never been to said cabins, if they're anything like his office, they must be impeccably kept and have tasteful decoration choices. :)
The man himself, aside from a successful professional with deserved peer recognition, is one heck of a human being, who treats everyone with equal respect.
Do rent from him!
David is one of the smartest, unselfish, hard-working people I know. I have been a guest of David's on many occasions at Camp Wandawega and he has always been an amazing host. His tireless work ethic and attention to detail have helped make Camp Wandawega a truly unique and special place.
I have known David for over 10 years and all i can say is the smile says it all he is very heart warming and passionate at what he does. He's one of those "feel good peolpe".
