I am easy-going, friendly and appreciate the opportunity, via airbnb, to avoid the sterility and mass market atmosphere of traditional travel in the US. It is a pleasure to be invited "behind the scenes of a place" and get to know it better vs the chain hotel-drive-by experience that really irks me.
I live in a yurt, off-the-grid surrounded by state forest in western MA. Our neighbors are moose, Great Blue Herons, coyotes and owls yet 20 minutes to the south is the famed Pioneer Valley - 5 colleges (UMASS, Smith, Holyoke, Amherst and Hampshire), vibrant local agriculture and a very progressive political culture. We have a wood-fired hot tub from which we study and enjoy the night sky, bats and a Night Hawk. Someday when we finish renovating our historic house we'll put the yurt up on airbnb and you can come visit us.
