I'm from Virginia and currently living in New York where I sell vintage clothing.
Breanne was a great host. She was available, and extremely nice and helpful when I moved in.
However, I was attracted to this place because it was in Williamsburg, but this really was not the area I was expecting. I didn't feel 100% comfortable in this area, personally. The apartment building is almost literally under the subway. While this is convenient, it is pretty loud. On top of that, it is located both next door and across the street from bars... bars that play live music until 4am. Breanne did warn me of this when I arrived, and I'm young and like to have fun, so I didn't think I would mind. However, I was definitely not prepared for it to be as loud and distracting as it was.
Finally, on my second/third day of staying, as I'm laying in bed, I happen to look over and see a mouse crawling into my suitcase. I mean I guess in New York, that's comes with the territory, but I am deathly afraid/grossed out by mice so this was highly disturbing to me. I will say, though, that Breanne was very accommodating. She immediately reached out to someone who came and set up traps for me, as well as offered to come back and dispose of the mouse once caught. Overall, everything worked out fine, but I wouldn't stay again.
Breanne was awesome with email correspondence. Always quick and to the point. She is flexible and laid back. She also bought a new set of kitchen knives when I told her I liked to cook. How sweet.
The apt is mostly vintage and ikea furniture (She owns a vintage clothing store...cool) There isn't a living room for socializing but you could make one in the second bedroom with the fold up love seat futon. Her apartment was the perfect place for myself, my partner and another guest who used the second bedroom. It's a 2nd floor walk up in an older building. very nice neighbors, and a great safe neighborhood. I always felt safe when walking at night to park the car (there are ALWAYS spots close by or directly on hooper). The neighbourhood has an overhead train which you'll quickly adjust to hearing. The bar across the street is noisy as the person says below but with the Two AC units on and bedroom windows closed, we couldn't hear much at all and slept easy. in our experience the club was busiest only Thursday-Sunday. Plus, it's NYC and it won't be silent anywhere. Also, I suggest investing in a sleep mask to shield your eyes from the intense sunrises that shine directly in the bedroom if you want to sleep in.
For the money this place was so close to everything! Cheap eats on broadway (decent $4 pizza slices at Sabrina's or $1.75 across the street), a small grocery about 50 paces away for light shopping. 15 minute walk to nice views of the east river and expensive williamsburg stores of all varieties. Great coffee at the Blue Bottle. Cheap decent eats at Vanessa's dumpling house on Bedford.. And it's seriously two steps from JMZ train. The M doesn't run on weekends but you'll get the hang of it.
Last I would say that everything was spotless when we got here. Nice soft towels. She also just acquired a huge flat screen tv and we enjoyed watching cable and PVRing movies in the evenings. One negative remark - the bathroom is definitely not new, and has some spots in the shower. But I have no doubt it was cleaned as much as it could be. But some might not be as comfortable
With that. We were fine with it. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Breanne.
My stay in this apartment was unfortunate...
After trying a couple of places in the city I was looking for something quieter. This apartment is indeed 1 minute away from the subway, sadly it's overground which means that you hear the trains pass all day (and night) long.
It's also in front of a club that opens every night until 4am. The first night there was a fight and the police and ambulance came by making yet more noise. The sound the guy being knocked out hitting the pavement with his head is something that will stay with me for a long time.
I opted for buying earplugs which made my stay more bearable.
The apartment itself is nice however and there nice bars and grocery shops around, too bad that the noise factor ruined the experience for me.
We had a great time here ! The appartment is located a minute away from the subway and even 10 minutes from another station with two more lines. It was clean and spacious. The host was easy to communicate with and we'd love to come back ! Thank you again
The apartment is beautiful, very well decorated and provides for a cozy stay. It says 1 bedroom, but actually, there are 2 rooms and a Kitchen. There is a lot of space in the rooms.
It is half a minute walk from the metro and less than 10 minutes with the metro to mannhattam.
Brienne is a very nice person and always ready to help in anything you might need.
I would give 5 stars if it wasn´t for the noise from the party across the street.
Merci Breanne!
Breanne was very open and welcoming and incredibly helpful with any questions we had. The apartment is a nice slice of privacy not far from the heart of Williamsburg. You can hear the music from the club across the street on a couple of the weekend nights, but Breanne was nice enough to warn us before we booked, and the A/C unit drowns out most of the noise in the bedroom. The Hewett subway stop is very close so easy to hop on get to Manhattan in half an hour. Overall a great stay and everything was as advertised. Nice little kitchen to cook if you want, and she even had eggs, bread, and milk for us so we didn't have to go forage for breakfast in the morning. Thanks Breanne!
really convenient to move in the city (manhattan of brooklyn), but really noisy and the bath was not very clean. For the rest it was good.
(And wonderful Café Moto across the street)
An excellent and recommended stay. The apartment is a great size for two or more travelers; The bedroom is separate from the living area. Each room was clean, and there are two TVs. The kitchen is lovely, and there are plenty of food options between the nearby Moto and various bodegas (less than a block away). With the JMZ right down the street, getting to Manhattan is a short ride away.
