Had a wonderful stay at Julien's place. Two of us originally were staying and fit comfortably in the bed in the bedroom, then a friend joined for the weekend and slept comfortably on the small couch in the living room. The apartment is really cute and in a perfect location. An outdoor market lined the street that the apartment is on two of the days we were there, which was really cool. The had fresh fruit and veg, fresh fish, an olive bar, some souvenir tents, and some prepared food tents as well. It was really nice to have down there. Also, there are lots of little cafes and restaurants in the area too. Try the tapas restaurant one street behind the apartment called Casa del Campo, it was delicious!!
The view of the church next door is really pretty from the balcony. Sat on the balcony and had breakfast one morning, it was very nice. :) At the end of the street there is a Metro (subway) entrance. I walked to the Louvre one morning, it took less than ten minutes and was really simple.
The apartment has all modern appliances, stove top, microwave, toaster, refrigerator and washing machine. Plus tv, dvd player and even a video projector. The WiFi worked perfectly throughout the apartment and was simple to log into once we found the password. (It's on the front door, with a list of other helpful notes and an emergency number.) The five flights were a bit tiring after a long day of walking but we got used to it eventually. Plus we probably needed to burn the calories after all the wonderful food we ate.
Julien kept in contact with me through email throughout my time there to make sure we were getting along ok. Plus we had the pleasure of actually meeting him on the last night of our stay. He was quite polite and very easy to talk to and get along with. Plus it doesn't hurt that he is extremely easy on the eyes.
I will definitely look into staying at Julien's place again when I visit Paris next. I just hope it is available. :)
This was a very interesting apartment located in a very beautiful area of town. Julien was very accomadating and was there to answer questions that we had. One important note was how understanding Julien was when I told him I had missed my flight and was going to be one day late. I would definately stay at his apartment when I come back to paris.
Julien's flat is just wonderful! We were a party of three and we found it just right. Everything you need was there, plus a few extras which were great touches of luxury!
What really makes this property is the location. We had a wonderful view of St Eustache church from the balcony and it was a mere 5 minute walk from the Louvre and the river. It is also 1 min from Les Halles metro station which all made exploring Paris ridiculously easy.
There was also a market on Sunday mornings which we woke up to find directly on our doorstep! The range of fresh produce was impressive and we took full advantages of it.
All in all, a fantastic flat that would be the prefect base camp for a Paris trip of any length. Will definitely give Julien a shout when I go to Paris again in the future!
Julien's apartment is lovely. It has character in every square foot, a romantic view, and an ideal location. Julien was gracious and easy to communicate with. One qualifier: If you are particularly averse to cigarette smoke, you might avoid France all together, but you should know that this wasn't quite a non-smoking room. Nor was it so obvious that we were aware of it for long. We continued to enjoy a superb weekend in Julien's place, and would certainly stay there again.
Julien's place is really lovely. The five flights of stairs are worth it once you get in - and such a great location in Paris. The bathroom is wonderful - shower from the roof feels like rain. The place was very clean and Julien was able to accommodate us for two nights here on short notice. Would recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in central Paris.
We had a wicked stay at Julien's apartment. Julien was extremely accomodating in helping us get the key when he was unable to personally show us in.
The apartment itself is beautiful, clean, practical and just cool. The balcony overlooking rue de monmartre is amazing in the mornings.
The apartment is briliantly located near the Marais - near so many amazing restaurants and bars. Everything is so accessible.
When we return to Paris, we will definitely ask Julien if we could stay again.
Good central location, large apartment with beautiful modern renovated kitchen and bathroom, nice small terrace, extra bedroom to the quiet courtyard, low rate for this location. Negative things to be mentioned: The living room should have curtain or roller blind to be shaded if its used for sleeping! 5th floor -no elevator- not suitable for handicapped in walking!
We had a wonderful time at Julien's apartment! It is located brilliantly in buzzling Montorgueil area and surrounded by hippest restaurants and shops and so very close to all sights that you can walk. It is easy living in Julien's home, simple and stylish, everything you need and on top a little balcony facing the Market Street. Unfortunatly we didn't get to meet Julien, who was abroad, but his friend took perfectly care of everything we might needed and even Julien was very helpful via email and phone. We can absolutly recommend his place for a great escape to Paris. Thanks, Julien!
I had a great experience staying at Julien's place! He was very accommodating when I had a little travel mishap. I missed my flight and could only make it to Paris several hours after our intended meet-up time, but he went out of his way to make arrangements so that I could still get the keys to his place.
About the place itself - it's a lovely one-bedroom apartment located at Les Halles, which is pretty much as close to downtown Paris as you can be! The apartment is very safe with two keypad coded entrances and a very solid apartment door. The apartment is actually very quiet even though it's located a couple of blocks away from a busy shopping area.
The neighbourhood has a bunch of shops, restaurants, and cafes close by. The place is just steps away from the Louvre and a short walk from the Latin Quarter and the Jardin des Tuileries. It's a bit of a longer walk (but in comfortable biking distance using the Velib) to the Tour Eiffel or the Arc de Triomphe.
The place was actually a bit of a treat for a single person, I would recommend it for an active couple looking for a very nice place to stay in Paris. One drawback - the apartment is on the fifth floor and there's no elevator - that wasn't a problem for me though!
