The heart of the heart of the city, and while it resembles Disney at first glance, it's far more interesting than the Magic Kingdom. Go inside the St. Louis Cathedral and view the interior, especially after a Sunday mass just to a bit of the magnificent pipe organ. Relax on the lawn in the square, go to the Cabildo for some history, or cross the street greet the Mississippi.
