Also named the “valley of kings”, this valley used to be the political and religious center of ancient Hawaiian culture, and housed many thousands of people. Presently, less than 100 people live in this valley, leaving plenty of room for all the stunning hikes, many waterfalls and a magical black-sand beach!

Breathtaking views. Steepest road in the world to get down to the valley

The name is exactly what it is....a valley. The view from the lookout is breathtaking. If you want to go down into the valley, you can by foot or 4 wheel drive. The mountain water flows freely from waterfalls and the streams flow and open up to meet the Ocean. Wild horses roam and the lush green landscape will remind you why this is paradise.

This is where they filmed part of Jurassic Park! You CAN'T drive down in the van. This is a very hard hike both down and up but definitely worth it! Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks! Black Sand Beach! Tip: There is a Foodland grocery store on your way in Waimea. This is where we usually stop and stock up for the trip down into the Valley.

A beautiful valley on the north side of the island. 4wd vehicle is needed to go into the valley, or you can just enjoy the vies and take pictures from the overlook.
