Along with striking rock formations, Sinks Canyon is the entry way to the Wind River Mountains having the unique geological feature of a disappearing river into a large cavern and returning 1/4 mile downs stream (rise). At the rise, large trout await you to be feed with fish food found onsite.

Closest local access to the Wind River Mountains. See the famous phenomenon where the Middle Fork of the Popo Agie river “sinks’ underground only to emerge slightly down canyon at the “rise” where massive fish hang out in a gentle pool.

Sinks Canyon is a 2 hour drive from Rock Springs in Lander, WY but is a natural wonder definitely worth seeing. While there, check out the Popo Agie falls hike that is just up the road.
