Amazing location in the heart of the Tongariro National Park, I suggest go for coffee in the hotel, sit in the big picture window, memorable.

Unfortunately, Chateau Tongariro is no longer with us as it has, recently, been closed indefinitely.

This grand old lady of a hotel is well worth the drive for a meal, drink or as a base for one of the many amazing walks in the area.

Only a 1 hour 12 min drive away. Experience ‘High Tea’ at the Chateau while overlooking Mt Ngauruhoe (Mount Doom from the ‘Lord of the Rings’ movies). A wonderfully relaxing experience.

Get a real feeling of old style luxury and the Chateau. Good coffee also.
