Museum located in the dunes in The Hague (Scheveningen). Museum Sculptures by the Sea was designed by the Dutch architect Wim Quist. The building, the ground form of two large circles , is buried in the dunes. At the museum, the historic Pavilion von Wied , which was built in 1826 by king William I. Unlimited light and expansive dimensions characterize the museum. All materials - concrete, Italian granite , beech and American pine - have been selected for their sand color that makes merge with museum with its surroundings.

Hidden in the Scheveningen dunes, like a jewel in the sand, lies the Beelden aan Zee museum ('Sculptures by the Sea'). The museum focuses exclusively on contemporary sculpture. Beelden aan Zee is a private museum, run by a large group of enthusiastic volunteers and supported by a group of friends. Within the context of its artistic policy the museum organises numerous cultural activities with which it has earned a special place in The Hague's international setting.
