Fort IV West (German. Westbatterie, originally Batterie A, in 1939-45 Fort Henningsen[1]) - A fort of the Prussian Swinoujscie Fortress, built between 1856-1861, intended to defend the harbour against enemy ships. Worth seeing: The defensive gate, to which a causeway once led. In the walls of the gate there are shooting holes for small arms. A square redoubt - the oldest part of the fort - now used as a museum of the fortress history. An underground communication corridor with halls of former ammunition chambers and storage rooms. Round holes of 19th century ammunition elevators are visible in the foot of the corridor. Artillery shelters from the second half of the 19th century under the central rampart and on the wings of the terrace. Concrete command shelter for the "Henningsen" battery with staff rooms and optical rangefinder station. Artillery gallery with positions for heavy coastal guns from the 19th century. The central gun emplacement preserved in its original state. On the right one of the firing positions of "Henningsen" battery. Russian shelters for coastal cannons in the center and on the left wing of the fort.
