Popeye Village in Mellieha offers an entertaining place to spend the day. This charming tourist attraction was originally a film set for the 1980s movie Popeye starring Robin Williams and has become one of the top tourist attractions of Malta. The film set is a quaint seaside village made of 20 wooden structures. Visitors are greeted by Popeye the sailor and then can take a tour of the village to find the post office, bakery, firehouse, and other buildings. Popeye Village also has a beach, sunbathing decks, and souvenir shop.

The set of the movie "Popeye" The “Popeye’s Village” is actually a movie set for the movie “Popeye” made by Robert Altman and starring Robin Williams in 1980, and based on the E.C. Reap. The set, created by Paramount Pictures and Walt Disney Productions, later became an open-air museum and amusement park. It consists of 19 wooden buildings built in 1979 located in Sweethaven, facing the sea, with wood brought from Canada and the Netherlands, since there are no forests in Malta. The idea was to give the typical American town of the 1920s. They even built a huge dam in Anchor Bay to protect the place from the force of the sea. There you can see the famous Popeye comic characters: Olvia, Bluto, Cocoliso, Pilón ... Buses to Mellieha Bay From Valleta, bus 42; from St-Paul's Bay, bus 221; from Sliema / St Julian, bus 222; from the airport, bus X1. There are also buses that leave from all hotels in Valletta, Sliema, Bugibba and Mellieha.
