A bit farther than some of the other spots but still under 90 mins is the charming walled city of Villefranche-de-Conflent. On the road to Andorra up the Tet valley to the north of the Vallespir this stunning town is full of interesting boutiques and plenty of places to stop for a bite to eat. Why not then continue on to the Abbaye Saint-Martin-du-Canigou in casteil where beautiful views await those willing to make the steep climb to the Abbey.

Amazing fortified town accorded UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Located under one of Vauban's hill forts. Great for shopping, eating and history.

A mere 20 minute drive from La Maison de la Tour is the historic walled city of Villefranche de Conflent and the Fort Liberia which boasts the longest underground tunnel in the world!
