The best way to see the Marine Lake is on foot, or by bike. The lake itself is one of Britain’s largest man-made leisure lakes and is home to sailing, pleasure cruising, rowing and many high-adrenalin water sports. The Lakeside Inn on the Promenade is Britain’s smallest pub, while the elegant Victorian Gardens surrounding the Marine Lake offer crazy golf, pitch and put, miniature railway and, of course, acres of manicured lawns offering an abundance of floral beauty and opportunity to kick a ball or throw a Frisbee!

The less energetic can also enjoy West Kirby’s Marine Lake by taking a leisurely stroll around the border of the lake or along the stretch of beach from West Kirby to Red Rocks at Hoylake. This is a lovely place to walk around the Marine Lake at sunset or try out windsurfing or sailing.

Try the Southport jet boat if you’re seeking a thrill. For those not needing an adrenaline rush there’s pedalos and rowing boats for hire in summer.
