Beautiful park overlooking the River Lea and very close to the flat

A 'hidden gem' local park. Get there by walking up along the canal. Free tennis courts if you fancy a game. Also great views over East London from the cafe at the top of the park.

Springfield Park is a park in Upper Clapton, approx 25 mins walk from our Airbnb. It officially opened as a public park in 1905 and was formed from the grounds of three private houses, of which only Springfield House (The White House) remains, now a café.

A couple of miles bike ride up the canal (you can hire Santander bikes on Cadogan Terrace) is this gem of a park - the cafe at the top of the hill has beautiful views over east London. Bonus lovely pub the Princess of Wales by the canal to stop for a cheeky pint on your way home!

This park is an unexpectred oasis in a busling town. You enter through a gateway to such splended views. youi can walk up and down the hills and treat yourself to a latte in one of the eateries.

“I love Sodo's pizzas. The menu changes seasonally and their thin crust sourdough pizzas with delicious toppings are totally worth the schlepp up the road into Upper Clapton! ”

“Small local pub with a weekend menu, a beer garden and log fires, set on the bank of the River Lea. ”

“This is a great pub for meeting local folks. It is also well known as a stopping place for boaters. This lovely old pub is situated where Lea Bridge Road meets the River Lea, welcoming commuters, travellers and lorries from Leyton, Walthamstow and beyond. A few years ago The Princess got a makeover and is a welcome respite from the frantic traffic of the nearby road. At the heart of the pub is a stove fire which is rare in London pubs now. There is a terrace facing the canal and picnic tables out by the towpath, making it an ideal summer watering hole. But don't take my word for it, come and enjoy for yourselves.”
