Furore is one of the most picturesque towns of the Amalfi Coast, a slice of paradise set between the sea and the mountains, whose main feature is its great and stunning beauty. In 1997 Furore was declared part of the UNESCO Human Heritage.
Furore offers its guests the charm of an uncontaminated reality , because it’s far from the caos and the smog of the big cities, ideal for those who wish to spend a relaxing and peaceful vacation.
Those who visit Furore can’t miss the beauty of the Fiordo, one of the most picturesque and evocative fjords in Italy, that has always constituted a natural harbor where ancient industrial activities, such as mills and paper mills, developed. The Fjord of Furore, a deep rift in the rock, ends with a cliff overlooking the sea, where there once lived a small fisherman’s community. The main road goes above the fjord thanks to a 30 mt high bridge where, on the first Sunday of july, a stop of the Marmeeting (High Diving World Championship)takes place. During the last years this event has grown attracting numerous vsitors.
Very unique is the art gallery “en plein air” consisting in the “artistic walls”, graffiti and sculptures that make Furore a “painted city”. In fact, going down the main road that runs through the town, you can admire the graffiti that have been painted on the walls of the houses and/or on the terraces, according to the case; to this day around fifty paintings have been carried out, and new ones are added every year.
Another important initiative is the “Balconata Furitana”, a special and unique kermesse that brings together art, culture, shows, wine and food, and solidarity. The Church of Santa Maria, house of one of the most important and prestigous ancient confraternities of Furore, is the venue where all the events are held; the church also includes a pre-napoleonic cemetery and the Oratory of the Immacolata. The Balconata Furitana is a journey of discovery of unknown cultures and artists, that aims to promote these beauties by offering touristic and wine and food itineraries.
Finally, the last stop you can’t miss out on are the Cantine (Winery) Marisa Cuomo , in fact its excellent wines are known worldwide. Don’t miss the guided tour of the cellars digged in rock, a one-of-a-kind place, and the amazing vineyards where the grapes grow attached to rock and exposed to the magical action of the sea and the sun of the Amalfi Coast. The visit ends with an excellent tasting where you will find all typical local products.
A few minutes walk there is a small restaurant offering excellent local cuisine. About 10 minutes by car from the property there is an excellent restaurant / pizzeria where you can taste great food, a bar, post office, pharmacy, bus stop and finally a good grocery store that on request free will carry out the home delivery.
