Food Scene
Well, we own the place ! And....people say we make really good coffee drinks , the atmosphere is warm and nostalgic. Locally roasted beans from Dark Canyon Coffee make for great Espresso, Latte, Frappe drinks. We brew our own Chai with fresh organic spices from Main Street Market in Rapid City and tea from South Dakota's Native American Tea Company - take some back to the Cottage with you . Muffins and Cinnamon Rolls are on the menu and there's a selection of Granola and Lara Bars for your backpack.

Great flights of craft beer to try and I like their potato chips. Next time I go I'm going to try their root beer for a non-alcoholic option. We've heard some wonderful musicians and we hear they have a bingo night, but haven't made it to that yet! Rustic , comfortable atmosphere - usually run into someone interesting to visit with. Right next door to Prairie Berry Winery - great food and atmosphere there too.

Amazing geological wonders - BIG T-REX's and other dino skeletons ! This museum is best kept secret in the Black Hills . Wonderful gift shop with awesome gifts for the young paleontologists in your group.

Parks & Nature
It's a the "Jewel of the Black Hills" . Wildlife - Bison, Prairie Dogs, Deer, Antelope. Nice lakes for trout fishing or a cool mountain dip ! Center Lake has a nice beach area with bathrooms we like when we have little kids with us- more gradual depths. Sylvan is great for older kids. Many have paddle boats or canoes you can rent.

We are thankful to have such a well stocked grocery store with a fresh meet department and deli in our little town. There is an attached liquor store and right next door you'll find the hardware store. New to town is the Dollar General almost across the street from Alice's and nice convenience stores at either end of main street.

Oh, we just love to hear it whistle! You can all them at 574-2222 ! The train runs about Mothers Day weekend through the fall - they have some awesome specialty rides like the wine train and the Christmas train. SD State Railroad museum is on the same property.
