Yummy Chinese "fusion" food! It's fun to watch them make jao zi (dumplings) by hand. A pretty safe place for vegetarians to know what they're getting.

Sightseeing

Forget the long lines of the Space Needle! It is best admired from below, or from the freeway, or Queen Anne.... For an interesting view of Seattle and its history, ride the beautiful elevators in the Smith Tower! The first "sky scraper" in Seattle, for many years it was the tallest building west of the Mississippi, and continued as the tallest structure on the west coast until supplanted by the Space Needle in 1962. While it is no longer a free ride in the elevators, it costs a bit less than the Space Needle to visit and eat, and is way more interesting! http://www.smithtower.com/ http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/seattles-smith-tower-a-historic-timeline/

Everybody should have a picture taken with our favorite troll, who stands guard under the Aurora Avenue Bridge in Fremont! While in the area, selfies with a large statue of Lenin, and crowd "Waiting for the Interurban" are also must-do's.

Lovely, easy trail leads right down to the waterfall and a smooth-rocked "beach" area. (The last tiny bit down to the falls is steep and can be slippery.) Our 3-year-old managed without complaint until she sat in the water and got her shorts wet, and simply could not wear wet shorts to hike out! By the time we finished our picnic, her shorts were dry enough for her to be happy. Combine this with hike with a visit to Snoqualmie Falls and a stop at Boehm's chocolates in Issaquah (reservations required for a tour, but you can also just revel in the confections!) and you'll have a great day trip.

Entertainment & Activities

The price keeps going up, but at $4 it's still a great bargain. Runs many artsy films not available in the big box theaters, and mainstream movies that cheap-o's like us won't pay to see in the big box theaters. They make their money on the popcorn, drinks, etc.. But the popcorn is fresh, with real butter. Pretty easy to smuggle in your own water bottle.
