This food market has loads of different cuisines from Italian to Vietnamese. It's a little quiter during the day and they tend to run workshops.
If you go on a Saturday or in the evening the atmosphere is always buzzing and you can sit inside or outside and hear live music playing.
This is my favourite place in my neighbourhood, if not London.

Getting Around
There are two underground "tube" lines here - Bakerloo and Northern lines.
There's an overground train station here so it's easy to get to Gatwick and Kent.
Elephant and Castle is also the South London bus hub so you can get all over London from here.

There are bike hires close to the house and near the station. The red wheeled Santander bikes are free to hire for 30 minutes (plenty of time to get far in London) and then there is a charge afterwards. Elephant and Castle has quite a few cycle routes and even a cycle superhighway.

Try ParkRun (http://www.parkrun.org.uk/) at 9am on Sunday and run/walk 5km with the locals or watch out for the kids on the skateboarding half-pipes.
There are often festivals, locals gathering for barbecues and salsa music playing when it's sunny due to the mix of ethnicities in the area.
