Aalto (1898-1976) enjoyed an exceptionally rich and varied career as an architect and designer, both at home in Finland and abroad.
The City Library is one of the three buildings in the Rovaniemi Administrative and Cultural Centre, all of which were designed by Aalto. The other two buildings are the Town Hall and the Lappia House (theater, concert hall and event centre). Aalto has also designed the original Rovaniemi town plan.

The Evangelican Lutheran Church of Rovaniemi was built after the second World War to the same location where the previous, demolished church was located. Pay attention to the minimalist, plain interior that let's the dramatic fresco, designed by Lennart Segerstråle to really stand out.
The church yard with its soldier's grave is one of the most beautiful places in Rovaniemi.
