Pubs + Bar dinners

The Lord Nelson is a must go for either drinks, lunch, or dinner. It is a historical Sydney landmark and claims to be the oldest hotel in Australia. The bear menu is extensive with a range of beers brewed at the Lord Nelson itself. The food is arguably some of the best bar food in Sydney.

The Hero of Waterloo is the second oldest surviving hotel in Sydney. Unlike the Lord Nelson, The Hero of Waterloo has live music (See days and times below). Great street seating and beers. The food is quite expensive, so if you are trying to be economical, stick to the beers! Live music: Friday - Folk: 8pm–11.30pm; Saturday - Old Time Jazz: 3pm–6.30pm, Folk: 8pm–11.30pm; Sunday - Old Time Jazz: 3pm–9pm

Amazing view on the water at Circular Quay with (basically) an unlimited amount of different beer flavours. Great food as well. Fantastic for when the sun is shining.

Food scene

Where do I start when it comes to Hotel Palisade? Once the tallest building in Sydney (apparently), it has everything! The bottom floor is a modern yet folky pub with TV screens. The back of the first floor has dimly lit booths for more private conversations. Up the elevator to the top floor, is a high-class bar/restaurant with a panoramic views of Sydney. The restaurant upstairs is more formal and usually requires a booking, however, the balcony upstairs does not require one so feel free to head out there and order drinks accordingly. A must go for tourists who are looking for Instagram content.

The oldest area in Australia. It is riddled with laneways connecting one section and level to another. Go and explore these narrow thoroughfares and The Rocks in general. It's a tourist attraction with plenty of interesting nooks and crannies.
