i’ve tried to put together a range of lovely places to go and visit for the entire family. There’s a choice of lovely historical towns, places to relax with the kids and go for a swim and different things to see and do. I really hope you find the information useful and it will go some way in helping you plan your holiday.
Guéméné-sur-Scorff. This is a old ancient town with a marked walk. It has bars, restaurants, shops, church, banks and cash points plus petrol station and small art gallery. Guéméné-sur-Scorff is famous for its andouille de Guéméné-sur-Scorff (sausage) which has its very own festival day at the end of August. It’s worth mentioning that some of the restaurants including the Les 3 Merchands ( the 3 merchants) which has been known under the same name since 1648 and is one of Brittany’s oldest bar/restaurants get very busy and have to be booked in advance. get very busy and have to be booked in advance. A small market is held on Thursday and Christmas market in December, I think Guéméné-sur-Scorff is really pretty at Christmas with it lights and decorations. Approx 10 mins drive.

Gouarec Gouarec is another lovely place to visit with all usual bars/restaurant, river walks and shops, but there’s something a little different if you are into vintage cars, bikes and tractors. Every last Sunday of the month the little car club hold a morning meeting at the abbey of Bon-Repos and afterwards they hold a bbq, anyone is welcome to go along and enjoy seeing some lovely vintage cars, bikes and tractors ( I love the old citrion 2cv’s and moggies) I would love to have these two sat on my drive, I guess I can dream. A vintage day is held in Gouarec in June and this is a great day out with vintage car. Approx 30 mins drive.

Rochefort en terre Rochefort en terre is simply a must, voted one of france’s most beautiful villages and as a result of this it is one of Brittany most visited places. From April to September it is illuminated from dusk to midnight making the streets full of Craftspeople, artists, toy makers, potters, candle makers and bars look just fantastic. Cobbled streets, flowers everywhere you look and half timber houses make this place a delight. There’s a chateau and church, every year there is a medieval fate held in the grounds of the chateau and spilling out onto the streets. Don’t even get me started on how amazing the Christmas lights are your just going to have to come and see them for yourself. Approx 1h 40mins drive.
