Points of interest in the area
Attractions in River’s Bend Bow River: you can access the Bow River just behind the house. It is about 300 metres away. If you continue West (upstream) on the trail there is access to a beach. Park: kids will enjoy the park located at the entrance to the community. Pigeon Creek: Enjoy a stroll along Pigeon Creek (the creek you passed by entering the community). Mad Dog Cafe is located West of the Husky. This restaurant has amazing Indian food. It is only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday (10am-6pm). They also operate a dog-sledding business if this is an activity that interests you! Hiking and Biking nearby! Popular bikes trails include Quebexican, Highline Trail, Razor’s Edge, Quaite Valley which connects to Jewell Pass. Hikes that are close by include Heart Creek, Pigeon Mountain (or hike-a-bike), Prairie View, Wind Ridge Trail and Three Sisters Pass. If you are looking for a fun trail for the kids or easier hiking Heart Creek Trail (4.7km) is a great trail with many bridges and a waterfall. Dogs are able to use this trail (on leash). Other easier trails in the area include Quarry Lake Loop and Grassi Lakes. Policeman’s Creek Boardwalk in downtown Canmore is a 3.9 km trail. This is a great trail to observe birds. There are 3 bike skills parks in Canmore Millenium Park (downtown Canmore) Benchlands Trail Skills Park Canmore Nordic Centre (also offers a variety of trails for all abilities) You can rent bikes at the Canmore Nordic Centre or Rebound Cycle

Lake Minnewanka has great hiking and offers a boat ride (informative tour). Legacy Trail: this is a paved path that links Canmore and Banff. You can bike to Banff (22 km) and return using public transport or bike both ways. High Rockies Trail connects the Banff Park Boundary to the Alberta/ BC border. This trail is machine built and great for hiking or biking. Another great option is to catch the gondola at Sunshine Ski Resort and do some hiking from there. The wildflowers are beautiful! There is a great app called All Trails for more information and we have books you can use to research trails.
