We love this beach because it's a walking playground. No beach chair needed. While other beaches are wide and long and meant for lounging and playing, this beach is shorter, rocky and one of our favorites.
Start at the south-most staircase and walk up, past Nautilus Street stairs, rock formations and tide pools - all the way to La Jolla Cove and the Children's pool if your feeling like a long beach walk.
Take care of little ones - the waves here can get big and the beach is narrow, meeting the water at angle.

This is the closest beach to the south of the house. It is a wide and open beach with pretty gentle waves, good for all day beach days and kids playing in the water.
You can start at the Tourmaline parking lot and walk all the way down, past Pacific Beach, Belmont Park (roller coaster) to the Mission Beach jetty. Use the beach or the boardwalk as your walkway! There are many festive beach-goers, restaurants, shops and bars along the way.
Boogie board and beach gear rentals can be found a bit further down from the Tourmaline parking lot - in the heart of Pacific Beach.
