Take a step back in time to visit this world famous open air museum, telling the story of life in North East England during the 1820s, 1900s & 1940s. Ride on a tram, see how cinder toffee is made, talk to the animals on the working farm, play hopscotch in the old schoolyard, pop into the Sun Inn for a pint after trip to the colliery.....There's plenty to keep visitors of all ages occupied for a full day and it's only a 15 minute drive away.

Gateshead's answer to the Sydney Opera House stands proudly on the banks of the River Tyne. Even if you don't have tickets for one of the music events there, it's still worth a visit to marvel at the amazing architecture.
