It's an idyllic location in the woods. It's a great place to stop for a drink on your way back to the chalet on skis. Their specialty is fondu and croutes which is baguette soaked in wine and covered in melted cheese. It's a quiet place in the middle of the day.

There's a fantastic sledge run down from near the top of Col du Forclaz to Trient village. The start is near the footbridge over the road. You can rent sledges at Auberge du Mont-Blanc in Trient. You really need one person to be the chauffeur taking people and sledges to the top of the hill. It's a 2km track and advisable to wear helmets. It's a fast track.

For a day out skiing drive to Finhaut railway station. Buy your pass for Marecottes at the station and it includes the train fare. Exit at Marecottes and it's a 5 minute bus ride to the lift station. It's an easy, open ski area suitable for intermediates.
