1 Dottenfelder HofIn the middle of the city Bad Vilbel, in the northern part of the spa park, standing on the shore of the Nidda in an idyllic location, the remains of a moated castle. She was once the residence of the Knights of Vilbel, 1581-1796, it served as the official residence of kurmainzischen administration. Its oldest parts date from the 12th century. After its destruction in 1399 it was again enlarged and rebuilt; since the second destruction in 1796, it has remained a ruin. Noteworthy are the surrounding moat, the gate with heraldic shield, a Baroque fountain in the courtyard and the large Palas over a long deep cellar. In a side building and the tower is the fountain Museum with local prehistoric and medieval finds, exhibits Vilbeler Mineralbrunnen and many local historical memories.
