  • Thank you Mia & Paul for a great weekend. The house was wonderful and we had a brilliant time. The house is a beautiful place to stay, and I would fully recommend it for anyone looking to celebrate a special weekend. Thank you to Mia for being there to meet us and making us feel so welcome.

  • The fantastic house in a fantastic setting. We went as a group of 8 people for a long weekend and we all thoroughly enjoyed the trip - thank you. Key points to note: - Excellent quality throughout the house. Especially kitchen and bedrooms. - Great communication with Paul who made the trip very straightforward - Good location that is easy to access from the main road through the New Forest, but far enough back not to be disturbed at all.

  • Our family had an absolutely fantastic time at The Old Sir Walter Tyrrell! Paul met us at the house and was relaxed and friendly, and proceeded to show us round their stunning house. Surrounded by secluded woodland through which deer step every evening, coming right up to the house (along with ponies and cows!), the setting is perfect, and the peace and beauty continue within. Furnishings are very well chosen and exude style and comfort, and the plush bathrooms are to die for. We numbered 8 adults and 1 toddler, and the space for cooking/eating/relaxing together was just right. Two dishwashers and the fact that all utensils are dishwasher-safe made clearing up much less of a chore. We're already planning our next trip back!

  • Paul made us feel so incredibly welcome. His communication levels were perfect and the house was amazing. The towels, products, honesty pantry, flowers and prosecco were our highlight. We had an awesome stay. Paul stayed in touch all weekend in case there was anything we needed and even gave us a Christmas tree to decorate. The house had a great selection of films and games. We cooked there both nights and the kitchen was equipped with everything you could need - and more. Paul was totally accommodating of our circumstances and we couldn't recommend the Sir Walter Tyrl more highly! Thanks Paul for a wonderful weekend.

  • This home needs to be on anyone's bucket list. Amazing animals on your doorstep and a stunning, well maintained, family home with all amenities. Particularly liked the 2 dishwashers. Paul was a great host. So helpful and friendly. We will definitely be back and will recommend to all our friends.

  • Excellent property in a great location, very easily accessible whilst retaining a remote and private feel. The open plan living, kitchen and dining space is great for entertaining and socialising. The kitchen is well equipped with plenty of ovens, a large hob and a big fridge/freezer. Two dishwashers in the utility room are really helpful if you are planning a big meal. The property has been decorated and furnished well and the first floor bedrooms are all a good size. Bathrooms are nicely done. There are some great walks in the immediate vicinity and some good local pubs within walking distance. Paul was an excellent and helpful host who made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. Would highly recommend this property.

    Dan2016-12-10T00:00:00Z
  • This is a totally wonderful place - I could have leapt with delight when I walked in. In a beautiful part of the forest - right next to the historic Rufus Stone and with easy access to good roads. The house is beautifully designed, like a five star hotel, but still maintaining it's rustic charm. I would love to come back

    Alice2015-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • I don't want to say nice things about this place as I want it available every weekend! The house is perfect for group reunions and get togethers. The setting is idyllic and the host (paul) couldn't have been more helpful. I'll repeat an apt comment from the visitor book "I'm researching squatters rights"...

  • We had a lovely 2 night stay here. The hot tub was great - even in the rain! and a lovely little secluded spot.

    Rosie2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • The hut is an amazing place to stay. It's location makes you feel very isolated (in a good way!) and the hut is so welcoming. We spent most of our trip outside either cooking on the bbq or in the hot tub. The little nest bed is great, very comfortable and lovely to open the curtains and look about in the morning. Anna and Chris were great hosts. Totally recommend stay there!

  • We had a lovely time in this quaint shepherds hut! The location was lovely...the perfect little getaway. Anna was brilliant, really helpful. Met us on arrival, showed us the ropes and was on hand incase we needed anything. Anna and Chris went above and beyond to make our stay perfect, booking us in at the local golf club and letting us use the hot tub. We would absolutely go back...!!

  • Perfect idyllic location in the middle of a forrest clearing. Ivy is a compact but perfect Shepards hut and I wouldn't have wanted to change anything else! The hot tub is simply outstanding. Loved a trip across the golf course to the pub with all the wildlife. Exactly what we needed for a chilled weekend away. Anna and Chris are very welcoming hosts and couldn't recommend them enough! Thanks

  • My girlfriend and myself were looking for a lovely few days away in a cosy hut in a beautiful location and that's exactly what we got! Perfect! Will visit again

    David2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was an absolutely incredible find. We stayed for two nights and it was bliss. The shepherds hut is the biggest we’ve ever stayed in, but it was still lovely and cozy, even on one of the coldest nights of the year. The kitchenette is well equipped and the en suite space is perfect and superbly designed! The bed is comfy and the local pub is well worth the walk. Thank you!

    Rebecca2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful spot! Ivy the Shepherds hut was very comfortable to stay in for our wedding anniversary. The space is well thought out and had everything we needed and more. We were glad to find there's a good amount of shade, as the weather's very hot. The wood fired hot tub was wonderful and it was simple to manage the temperature so that it was enjoyable even on hot evenings. Thanks Anna and Chris for a lovely stay.

  • Booked on board for the early bank holiday weekend in May and glad we did, it was brilliant. We stayed at the marina in Southampton. From the key collection at the marina office to key drop off when we left, everything was well organised hassle free. The boat is a good size! very clean & tidy, four of us stayed & we had loads of room. Everything you need... a large flat screen T.V... a large fridge freezer, bags of seating space & the bedrooms were perfect. Even though everything is on your doorstep (bars, restaurants, ferry to Hythe & Cowes) the marina itself is very Quiet and peaceful. I would highly recommend a stay on this boat...! Thanks Graham for a great weekend. Steve H (Website hidden by Airbnb)

  • We stayed on New Life for 2 weeks whilst working at the Southampton Boat Show and we couldn't recommend it more highly. Graham was the perfect host and the boat was very comfortable. Nothing was too much bother and Graham was always at the end of the phone to answer any queries. He went out of his way to welcome us with lots of extra small touches and also provided extra bedding / towels etc which we requested. The location, boat and facilities were perfect for the show and we will definitely be recommending Graham and the boat to others.

  • I use airbnb a lot as I travel with work. Found this space and thought, its different and its one night so why not. So pleased I did. The bed is king size and very comfortable. The location is fantastic, so close to the centre of Southampton. The boat is just so cool. I would certainly return and throughly recommend. Host (Graham) is very helpful. Check in easy. 5 Star.

  • Booked this boat for my husband’s 40th birthday and we absolutely loved it! The boat is spacious and plenty of room for 4 adults and a toddler. Something different and better than staying in a hotel. We had two cars with us and parking was free. Will have to come back again :)

    Ngoc2018-05-26T00:00:00Z
  • Well furnished and much larger than anticipated

The boat has everything you could possibly need, including a Christmas tree :) and was spotlessly clean throughout. Throughout the booking process, check in and stay Graham was always available to answer any questions. I'd throughly recommend booking a stay and will certainly be back.

    Ernest2016-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Farthing Corner as a surprise for my girlfriend and what an incredible stay it turned out to be! The pictures don't give it justice. From the moment we arrived, Liz went above and beyond. We enjoyed some homemade cakes and tea with another couple who were staying there and then we enjoyed a fantastic 3 course meal at the local pub. The landlord Nick was very accommodating and friendly. Everyone knows everyone in this village and we were made to feel part of the community. We went for a walk on the day after we arrived (Liz knows all the great routes!). We saw some incredible sights and even saw some deer too. So peaceful and tranquil. We definitely will come and visit again. Also, Liz makes THE best english breakfast! Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Thank you!!!

  • What a lovely place to stay and experience an English country cottage with a wonderful host.

    Grahame2014-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • This is a bed-and-breakfast, rather than private rental. Liz is a delightful hostess. Her full English breakfast is a treat. The house is a lovely period cottage, with low ceilings, full of character. Make sure to visit Nomansland in the New Forest, sit outside (if the weather cooperates), eat well, and watch the wild ponies with foals (if in foaling season) grazing in the fields.

    Nick2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at the cottage. Liz was very welcoming and hospitable and I cannot fault the accommodation. The bed was so comfortable and breakfast delicious. I would be happy to recommend the B&B and hopefully stay again in the future x

    Anna2017-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • AMAZING. The village, while secluded and quiet, is very close to Salisbury and Stonehenge. The pub down the street is warm and friendly and the food is delicious. But the BEST PART OF ALL is this cottage, Farthing Corner! The bed is so comfy! The water pressure in the shower is phenomenal! The view from the windows is like something from a postcard! And Liz is the most gracious, warm, friendly host: she offers the perfect blend of hospitality and respect for any space travelers might need. She made us a full breakfast which had me in tears because it was *that good*. She made the sausages and pressed the apple juice *herself*. This cottage is perfect if, like me, you came to England to look at super old things which are also super cute. Did I mention that the room we stayed in was warm, modern, comfortable? And that the thatched roof is a meter thick? And several centuries old? Liz and her house are the real deal. Will definitely be back.

    Bonnie2017-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Picture postcard countryside and home. Wonderful home cooked breakfast and afternoon tea. Liz was warm, charming and hospitable. I only wished we had booked a longer stay. The three I'd us loved it.

Our house is situated on the northern edge of the New Forest in a truly fantastic spot with outstanding views over Wellow and Canada commons and Bramshaw wood beyond. We are at the end of a private track with direct forest access, the passing traffic are the wild ponies, cows and donkeys!!! Whether you're wanting to visit Paultons Park, or stride out in to the beautiful new forest countryside or just wanting to lock yourself away from it all our home really is a special spot for all to enjoy.
We sleep 9 but we do not recommend 9 adults, we are ideally suited to 3 couples or families with children. The house has 3 beautiful double oak beamed bedrooms, 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs. The master bedroom is an exceptional suite with stunning views across the commons and at any time of the day the light filling the room is wonderful. It also has a private balcony to take in the sunsets. The other upstairs bedroom is a colourful double 'the fair trade room' and it has a lovely ensuite with views over our paddock. The downstairs family room is large and has an additional double sofa bed thus can sleep 4. There is an additional bathroom downstairs at the back door which is for shared use by yourselves and ourselves if we are working in and around the house and gardens. The rest of the downstairs is open plan with lovely oak beams and a wood burner, there are no curtains, just big windows and colourful walls. The kitchen sits at the heart of this space so you can cook and chat/socialise in one happy group.
We are situated in one of the most beautiful settings in the New Forest. Our house has stunning views over Wellow, Plaitford and Canada Commons. We're not as touristy as other parts of the forest so you get to savour the area without all the crowds. We have some superb real pubs nearby too. We recommend the Rockingham Arms which is a lovely 10-15 minute cross country walk to their back gate. If you want to eat there we strongly recommend you book first, it's good so its popular. We are also very handy for visiting Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World, we can show you the route to avoid the morning queue too!!!
  • STUNNING!! Simply the best place we've ever stayed. We never wanted to leave and already planning our return trip. Photos do not do the house justice - it's quite simply the loveliest home in a perfect location. Naomi was a perfect host too and couldn't have been better - thank you!! Love love love this house!

This space is private and quiet, perfect to rest or work with its own private entrance. It is light and airy with double doors opening straight into the garden, great for watching the birds and the odd hedgehog. There is a single bed which extends to a double. A table for dining or working - plus a microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. You have your own private ensuite bathroom which has a newly installed shower, toilet and sink.
Our neighbourhood is a pretty street with traditional Victorian houses; it has a suburban feel while being very close to the centre. We are minutes away from Southampton Common (which is great for a walk or a cycle.) There are plenty trendy bars and restaurants in Bedford Place which is about a 10-minute walk. We have a supermarkets also very close within a 10-minute walk. I would also be happy to give you a list of good pubs, places of history or interest, music venues and local amenities.
  • This was my first experience with Airbnb. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Jade was a lovely host and made me feel at ease straight away. She was very understanding even though I showed up earlier than planned. The place is compact and pristine, airy and very comfortable. Jade pays alot of attention to detail and especially appreciated the fresh flowers. I was able to come and go as I pleased and with my own private entrance. I would definitely recommend this place if you're passing through Southampton.

  • The cabin is lovely, has everything you need for a comfy stay. Having the microwave, inbuilt chopping board and fridge make it easy to cater. The bathroom is well appointed.

  • My 2nd stay in the same place. The place is super clean and comfortable. Jade and Brian are really nice hosts. I recommend the place.

  • I have had a really wonderful experience living at Jade and Brian's place . Stayed with them for 3 weeks and they are amazing hosts .The rooms are are lovely and clean , and they do their best and go out of their way to accommodate your needs . They were extremely helpful in telling me were everything was since I had never been to Southampton . I would absolutely recommend staying at their place to everyone who will be in Southampton for any length of time.

  • Jade's communication was excellent in the lead up to our stay and she was flexible and accommodating for our arrival despite us running a little behind! The little cabin is beautiful and clean, peaceful and calm. Jade was on hand to show us around and made us feel very welcome. We won't hesitate to stay here again of we're ever down in Southampton. Thanks Jade!

    Chris2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great place - clean and well thought out, everything you need for a short stay. Would use again :-) thank you.

    Sam2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jade's place is so lovely and quiet, she was such a gracious host and even let us play with her dog. I'd recommend it highly

    Ginger2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jade was super welcoming and a fantastic host. She was very communicative. I really enjoyed staying here - the cabin is super clean and comfortable and just what I needed for a few nights stay. It's a minor drawback to cross the garden for the bathroom, but honestly, the privacy in the cabin is well worth it. I would say it is a tad far for access to the Soton University but this is lessened by the fact that it's an extremely lovely walk across the Common to get there and back. I very much plan on staying again next time I'm in town!

  • Annie's place is in a beautiful, secluded area. We had a wonderful stay. I wish we'd had longer. Annie was delightful.

    Mejken2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Very welcoming and would highly recommend it. Very modern farmhouse set in an idyllic setting. Would love to return in the summer! Annie kept in touch throughout the booking to ensure everything went to plan.

  • Lovely accommodation in a delightful setting. Thank you again Annie for your kind hospitality. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • Annie’s place is just wonderful in every way. A beautiful setting, with lots to do in surrounding area. Annie is a great host and makes you fee immediately comfortable. She serves up a pretty mean breakfast as well!

    Richard2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • My family had a wonderful experience. Annie was really hospitable and treated us like family. Her home was beautifully furnished and the rooms were even spacious enough for my toddlers to run around. The farm environment was idyllic as its name suggested, no sounds of the highway or nearby roads.. Just serenity and a night sky full of stars.. Highly recommended

    Jonah2015-11-09T00:00:00Z
  • Driving into Annie's farm is a scene taken from the movies. Endless green landscapes with wild horses and deers, with an amazingly beautiful house in the middle. The photos don't do justice to the beauty of this place. Annie, the host is what makes everything so special. I can't say enough about her friendliness and generocity, and Annie, I want to have all of your linen and towels and dishes and cups!! Everything in such high quality, really pampering. Breakfast is so much fun that I could actually spend all day round that dinning room table. It's an experience I won't want to forget. So glad we found it.

    Sandra2015-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • 5* location with a 5* hostess. Our week with Annie was perfect. We felt very much at home and our three girls loved running around the gardens, playing in the pool and trampoline and the animals. Set within acres of beautiful countryside we escaped City life and visited Peppa Pig World which is close by. If available, don't hesitate!

  • We had such an amazing time, the barn was lovely and we couldn't have asked for anything more. There's a full kitchen, bathroom and mini-office, perfect for business or couples trips away. Thank-you!

  • My mother and I spent three nights at the barn and it was ideal for us, my mother had the double sofa bed so she didn’t have to use the stairs. It was in an ideal position to do short day trips out for lunch and was very peaceful, with some good strolls from the barn for the evening. Catherine provided a good range of hot drinks, and bread, butter etc for breakfasts. We had a great stay!

    Sarah2018-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Catherine's place. Arrival directions and check in were seamless, and the accommodation had everything we needed and more. Clean, spacious and well presented with lots of useful information about local things to do, along with menus from local pubs etc. The place is very well situated, with lots of things to do in the local area. We were there for 2 days and we visited Salisbury and the New Forest very easily in a day each. Would highly recommend. Thanks!

We also have a designated fire pit where you can have a campfire or use disposable barbeques and for the children a swing with a fairy garden in the woods.
we are close to the pretty market town of Romsey where you will find plenty of independent shops, cafes and public houses and lots of local village pubs nearby. the new forest is close by for you to explore.we are also very close to paultons park for those of you with young children where they have peppa pig.and we have mottisfont abbey which is a national trust property and gardens.
  • Stay here and you won't be coming back disappointed. It's absolutely perfect for a few days away. The land is stunning and well kept and so are all of the buildings. Jenny is very nice and welcoming and gave us a tour on arrival. The farm is only a 15-20 minute drive away from the centre of New Forest national park and supermarkets are a 10 minute drive away so location is perfect. BBQs and camp fires are welcome which really make you feel like you are at home and Jenny even provided us with wood to get us started. We would definitely love to be returning as like I said, it's the perfect get-a-way and extremely reasonably priced for what you get.

  • This place is absolutely beautiful. I took my girlfriend here for a few days of relaxation to forget about work, and it was perfect. The three shacks are decorated beautifully and are equipped with everything you could need. Jenny and Terry have created a wonderful place to stay, with a fire pit and fairy garden making great places to sit and enjoy the surroundings, they even supplied marshmallows to toast on the fire. Special mention should be given to the two ponies on site that are very friendly and great to have around. We are very grateful Jenny let us take them for a walk!

    alex2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • A fantastic, tranquil location. Perfect for getting away from the rat race, but also close to Romsey which has great pubs and restaurants, and there is lots to do in the surrounding area (if you can drag yourselves away from the fire pit!).

    Jackie2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Such a beautiful a peaceful place to escape to. The woodlands are tranquil, the ponies are friendly, the huts are comfortable. My and my girlfriend couldn’t ask for more in our desire to escape the city. Jenny is also a brilliant host who even came out to save us when my car broke down in the middle of nowhere. Will be back for years to come.

    Freddie2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you want a secluded, beautiful and traditional shepherds hut then this is for you. Perched on a rise in a field overlooking pastures, woodland and horses this is seclusion at its best! Lovely little hut although be prepared to walk a few minutes to the kitchen hut and then a bit further to the toilet/bathroom hut. This is stated in the description and bear in mind that their is no electric or water in the main hut. Go prepared as you would for camping and you won't be disappointed at all ! A short drive to Romsey where there are a few nice pubs and shops too so although your accommodation is very secluded there is plenty to do within the surrounding areas. Lovely place and will be going back with the family and kids this summer !

    Patrick2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay at this charming place. Absolutely stunningly designed shepherd's huts in a beautiful location. Loved the fire pit for BBQs! Highly recommended for a peaceful stay away from it all.

    Louisa2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Charming and thoughtfully presented shepherd's huts set in a beautifully secluded and tranquil spot shared only with the ponies, deer and other wildlife. If you want to take a break from the stresses of modern living, this is the place! Jenny and Terry are lovely warm and genuine people who are very welcoming and helpful and have put a lot of thought into making this place special. I look forward to returning soon.

  • We needed a place to stay during our family visit to peppa pig world for myself , my wife and my 2 year old little boy. We found this cottage and it was very local to peppa pig world. It was 10 minutes away even in the traffic. Hilary met us when we arrived and shown us around the cottage. She then took us around the farm to feed the chickens, collect some eggs etc and see the ponies as my little boy likes that kind of stuff. He was in his element during the full visit with the cottage being on a farm and plenty of room inside with games etc to play with. The cottage was lovely and accurate to what you would expect of a farm cottage in terms of decor etc. the cottage was clean and tidy throughout. There was plenty of room for a family of 3 and you could fit more in. There was plenty for our little boy within the cottage with games , ride of horses etc. The cottage came with all you would need (bedding , towels , tea , coffee etc). For the cost , the cottage was excellent and much better than any hotel you could get in the area. I would 100% stay here again if I was in the area. Thank you Hilary for making me and my family welcome during our stay. Very good to met you.

    Liam2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed a very lovely weekend at Manor Farm Cottage with our two-year old boy. He loved watching (and feeding) the free-range hens and guinea fowl which wander around the gardens and visiting the horses in their fields and in the livery stables just across the yard. The pictures do not do the property justice. The cottage has been beautifully done-up: it retains bags of character, yet has a bright and airy 'garden room' and is crammed full of clever details and high-end tech. The surrounding area provided plenty for us to do within a short drive (we went no further than 20mins) by way of short walks in the New Forest or on nearby common-land, or a paddle in a nearby stream, always with a proper country-pub on hand for refreshments. Hilary was the model of a perfect AirBnB host: available to help with our queries with a ready smile, but otherwise entirely unobtrusive. We don't tend to return to the same place twice but expect we may make the exception here whilst our family is still small enough. In the meantime we will highly recommend it.

    James2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic cottage close to the New Forest with great facilities and lots of space. Nice little touches such as a piano, football table, toys for kids and great entertainment systems. Hillary is a wonderful host, very friendly and informative. Allowed us to walk around her farm freely, visiting the horses and chickens. New forest is only a short drive away and local shops are just down the road. We will most definitely stay again when visiting the New Forest.

    Mike2018-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Really friendly hosts and a beautiful cottage. Setting was lovely & for our little boy who is 2 it was just amazing. Will hopefully be returning soon

  • What a weekend! We had a wonderful time staying here - the cottage was so special - a great mix of luxury and country charm. Our daughter loved feeling part of the farm (feeding the chickens and the guinea fowl) while I fell in love with the Aga. We ended up cancelling all our plans to simply stay in and enjoy the space! Hilary was the perfect host - available but not intrusive. We’re already looking to come back as soon as possible!

    Bairbre2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful location, very relaxing, great Value. Very lucky to have stayed there. Will definitely book again. Hillary and Hugh are great hosts.

  • Hilary is a superb host her communications are quick and friendly and she is just the same when you meet her as well. The accommodation was brilliant - clean, spacious and stylish - perfect for a young family such as ours as well as great value for money. The Cottage is on Hilary’s farm and she was kind enough to let my 2 year old meet all the animals on it and feed them. My daughter was heart broken to have to leave the horses and insisted on saying goodbye to each one individually in the morning! I would highly recommend staying and we will be back!

  • We have a really lovely stay and Shelley’s cottage for our wedding anniversary! Shelly was the perfect host she’d thought of everything from a lovely welcome pack to a very thoughtful anniversary card! The cottage was stunning with everything we needed and our little 19 month old absolutely loved the horses, Patsy, Paddy and Toby. The cottage is perfectly located right next to the new forest, so made it really easy for day trips! Thank you so much for making our trip so special, we’ll definitely be back!! Xx

  • We stayed at Barn Cottage for 5 nights while visiting family near Romsey. The location is perfect - very close to Romsey and the New Forest. We loved the farm setting - very relaxing and a great atmosphere to come back to each evening. Shelly has done a fantastic job with the cottage - it is all newly finished - and it is very well appointed. Immaculately clean, with all you could need for a stay. Great kitchen and wonderful bathroom, with plenty of space. The attention to the little things you might need has been thoughtfully done. Shelly was great in making sure we had everything we needed and was very welcoming - while at the same time was respectful of our privacy. Great host. Loved our stay here and cannot recommend it highly enough.

    Adrian2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most fantastic couple of days at Shelly's beautiful cottage. It was the perfect size for us (me, my husband and two sons, 2 and 4) and the boys loved exploring the cottage, meeting the animals and having magical bath times under the twinkly starlit ceiling in the bathroom. Shelly and her family are very friendly and welcoming and it is clear how much effort has gone into making the cottage a 'home from home' with lots of little touches to make your stay special. We were visiting the New Forest to go to Peppa Pig World at Paulton's and the cottage was only a 10 min drive away- perfect! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Barn Cottage to others as the ideal place to explore the New Forest and would love to visit again.

    Emma2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at barn cottage to take our 4 & 2 year old daughters to peppa pig World. The accommodation for this alone (location and cleanliness etc) would be a 5* review. The morning we left there was plenty for the girls to explore on the grounds and burn off some energy. Shelly was also a fantastic host, took time out to show the girls the horses, ponies and dogs which they loved and are still talking about. We wished we could have stayed longer and will definitely be back. Thank you.

    James2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place, with an equally wonderful host - would high recommend it.

    Laura2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This is an absolute gem of a place! Located a short drive from Paultons Park, you should look no further if you are planning a family visit. The wonderful host family will look after you and your children will love playing on the beautiful property. Our children loved meeting all the super friendly animals and playing with the 9 year old son of the house who is an absolute star taking care of his new friends. The room itself is 5 stars, completely state of the art, and fully equipped. This is the kind of place you see in magazines! Top value for money and an attraction itself as well as a great place to sleep!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Ros & Mike. The house is lovely and is located in a quiet area off the beaten track, but only 2 miles or so from the town of Romsey, which has plenty of good restaurants and a few pubs too! Ros & Mike are great company, and as well as making us feel super-welcome, also provided useful information on the surrounding are to help us make the most of our stay!

  • I booked Ros's place for my Mum and stepdad to stay whilst visiting. They had a fantastic time here and loved the house. Ros and her husband made them feel very welcome and were terrific hosts. They raved about the breakfasts! Many thanks for your hospitality Ros.

  • Ros and Mike were delightful hosts with a wonderful home in a great area. They made us feel so so welcome and couldn't do enough to make are stay comfortable. (Even providing a taxi service to a local restaurant for dinner) The en suite room was spotless with a lovely double aspect and some of Ros's homemade shortbread to nibble. Our huge full English breakfast was beautifully prepared with homemade jams/bread and proper coffee. We could only stay for one night, but we will be back.

  • Ros and Mike were fantastic hosts and have a lovely home. We were more than well catered for and felt very welcome when we arrived and throughout our stay. They cooked a fantastic breakfast in the morning and even let us try their own home made honey. We would love to come visit again. Luke and Rachel

  • Ros and Mike were exceptional hosts! We stayed at their place for two nights and they could not have been more welcoming. On the first night we headed into Romsey for dinner and Mike was kind enough to drop and collect us from dinner - so kind. They have incredible knowledge of the area and were great in recommending where we should go. Breakfast each morning was fantastic. Their house is beautiful, the bed comfortable and we had a lovely time. Thank you Ros and Mike!

  • Rose and Mike were wonderful hosts, they really made us and our baby feel comfortable in their lovely home. They gave us some great ideas of things to do and places to eat in the area. And even offered to babysit!

  • Ros and Mike couldn't have been more welcoming and were really nice to chat with. Our room was very clean, comfortable and full of nice touches. The house has a lovely garden; we had brilliant breakfasts in the new conservatory (with eggs from their own hens and honey from their own bees). Would highly recommend!

    Edward2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was more than we could hope for. Ros and Mike are lovely, and super welcoming. They were happy to give us information about the local restaurants, walks in the forest, places to visit, even roads to avoid. The house and garden are lovely, our bed was so comfy I found it difficult to get up, the shower was super powerful (something that is very important to me), everything was clean, the breakfast was varied and delicious, and the honey (oh the honey) from their own bees was amazing! I really can't recommend this place enough. And we will go back again soon!

I'm very happy with the service

  • Lovely old cottage covered in Wisteria which was in flower when we stayed. Scent was heavenly. Easily enough found once we had spoken to M. Beautiful countryside around. Charming, comfortable, elderly accommodation. Not the Ritz but we were not booking that! Although we did not meet M he was in excellent contact to ensure our stay was properly organised.

    Nigel2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • A great stay! I only stayed overnight as I was gigging nearby. M was incredibly accommodating with my 1am check in time, and was a delight, opening up his home to me! I only wished I'd stayed longer to explore what seemed to be endless possibilities of nearby walks!

Beautifully renovated rooms for a comfortable break in the New Forest with walking access on to the open Forest. Great for dog walking or just a yomp to the pub. Perfectly situated for visits to the Cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, quaint New Forest towns such as Lyndhurst and Lymington and historic sites such as Stonehenge. This is a working small holding with cows, chickens, Guinea fowl and horses. The paddocks lead to a wood and stream where you can relax in the shepherds hut.
Cosy, tastefully decorated rooms, designed for a relaxing break. Newly installed bathroom with a large walk in shower. A king size bed and a large comfy sofa. Cooking facilities too, should you want to cook!
We never tire of walking out of our back gate on to the open forest. Whatever the season, weather or time of day it is magical. The animals and bird life are ever changing and you can create your own mini safari just walking to the pub! There are some great pubs within walking distance. The nearest is Rockingham Arms, Wellow (I would recommend booking a table if you like the look of it) which is about 20 minutes from the back gate across the forest. Then there is The Lamb, Nomansland and The Royal Oak, Fritham. These are a bit further but well worth the effort!
  • Liz and Richard made us so welcome. This was our first airb&b and we will do again! the bed was lovely and comfortable with quality linen and the whole annexe was beautifully presented. We had a lovely meal in the Rockingham Arms a fantastic Sunday lunch, you can walk there in about 20 minutes, we also also had lovely food in The Lamb pub up the road (its best to drive there). Liz has two dogs 'Mac' and 'Pike' both lovely natured dogs and our two loved playing with them. We will be going back!! Thank you Liz and thanks for the courgettes.

  • The perfect quiet hideaway in a wonderful location. Walking distance into the forest where wild ponies can be seen. Lovely country pub just down the road serving good comfort food. Liz and her husband were very welcoming and could not do enough for us especially with our late evening arrival. 35 minutes from Bournemouth if you fancy a walk on the beach . All in all I would highly recommend and will deffinetly returning.

  • Staying at Liz’s place was great. She is very caring and an exceptional host. I was visiting UK for the first time as a solo travel and struggled a little bit to get to her place. However, Liz was very helpful and gave me tips to find my way there and get back to London. She was also very attentive while I was there. I had a wonderful experience. Everything is exactly as it looks on photos. This is a great place to relax and Liz was a great company to me as well.

  • Such a lovely place, and we were greeted so warmly and felt really welcomed. The place itself is lovely, and much more spacious than we were expecting, we had all the space we needed! Such a beautiful location with woodland and walks right next to the house. Thank you to you both for your warmth and sharing your place with us!

Cornerstones is a 3 storey house in Lyndhurst, the 'capital' of the New Forest, with a fabulous forest view. We are only 5 minute walk from village centre with cafes, restaurants, shops, pubs and Visitor Centre. Room has small en-suite bathroom with shower. It has a sloping ceiling over toilet area so may not be suitable for tall people. There is free parking near the house. Road opposite is busy at peak times but windows are fully double glazed which shuts out any potential traffic noise.
Cornerstones is on the edge of Lyndhurst village centre, with the best pub in the village, a 17th century Inn, almost within view (as is the police station!). You can also walk straight into the forest from our house, so everything is on your doorstep
Lyndhurst is at the heart of the New Forest, now designated a National Park, and the perfect base for a holiday in the South. The village itself is very lively, with all amenities you need, including post office, banks and 2 small supermarkets, as well as a variety of pubs and restaurants. Situated in the centre of the New Forest we are also only a 25 minute drive to the beach. The historic towns of Winchester and Salisbury are 20 miles away and it's only a 20 minute drive to Southampton or 30 minutes to Bournemouth.
  • We really enjoyed staying here. The room was homely, clean and comfortable. Celia made sure we had everything we needed. It's in a great area of the New Forest. Would definitely recommend :)

  • We are repeat customers because Caroline goes out of her way to ensure we are happy and settled . Her family which includes a little one is lovely and quiet. Lovely walks to new forest. Very very good value for money. Caroline has been very accommodating . Highly recommend

  • Celia and Carol were very welcoming and very flexible in terms of my arrival time, which I appreciated.

    Helen2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Celia's house for three nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious, comfortable and homely, with all essentials provided, and looked exactly as advertised. Celia was a lovely host who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even offering to give us a lift to the station on the last day! She was very helpful with plenty of tips on places to go in Lyndhurst and was very friendly whenever we saw her in the house. The house is in a perfect location, being a very short walk from the village centre, but also right beside the beautiful forest. I would thoroughly recommend staying here!

My boyfriend and I are both close to 6 ft so the very small bathroom was a bit of a challenge. we never met Celia but the communication with her was very easy.

Purpose built one bed annexe within New Forest national park ( 400 yards from open forest ). Ideally situated as a mid point for cycle routes going south to north. Light and airy accommodation, separate from the main house. Newly appointed with modern facilities. Double bed or double sofa bed in main room. Due to neighbours, not good for parties or late night music. Ideal for walkers, cyclists, horse riders ( arrangements for stabling horse(s) and horsebox possible).
Flexible accommodation with separate detached entrance which is ideal as a base for exploring either the national park or further afield. Very easy access due to proximity to the motorway. Great pubs nearby, easy cycle to Minstead, Ashurst, Lyndhurst. In short, perfect for any number of trips exploring the area

I would recommend a stay at the Annexe for anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere, peaceful and perfect setting in the forest, and local to all that is needed! We will definitely be staying again! Thank you Paul :)

They have a lovely little gem air Bnb literally on the edge of the New Forest. There are beautiful walks very close by. It’s a real home from home with everything you need regardless of the weather. Paul lent us their bikes and took the time to talk about places to eat and drew out route plans for us. The annex itself is lovely and offers a perfect combo of privacy and comfort. Thanks again. “We will be back” John and Amelia.

A beautifully converted milking parlour with garden, far reaching views and bordering The New Forest National Park. Situated 9 miles from the Cathedral City of Salisbury and 15 miles from Southampton it is an ideal base to explore the local areas including many walks, pubs, restaurants, golf clubs and other tourist attractions such as Stonehenge, and Paultons Park. Can be rented in conjunction with neighbouring barn, newly refurbished and recently launched 'Strides Barn" (sleeps 6).
Kingsize bed, ensuite bathroom. Large open plan living area with TV and log burner incorporating kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, and fridge freezer. Garden. Parking.

  • Beautiful space, great location for exploring New Forest (car probably fairly essential). We had a wonderful BBQ in the evening. So tastefully decorated. Jo was a great host and went the extra mile to make our trip easy. We arrived in the late evening and there were breakfast bits to make the next morning easy. The nespresso machine was a treat! The book of walks was really handy as well. Perfect Airbnb!

  • Absolutely fantastic! We loved The Cowshed! Was so comfy, homely and cosy. Everything you need for a wonderful stay. Jo was a delight, we thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and she made us feel very welcome. Will certainly return and very happy to recommend!

  • I could not recommend the Cowshed more! Great stylish accommodation, lovely little wood burner, beautifully decorated with a giant comfy bed 😊 amazing value for what a lovely place it is! Great access directly off the back of the property for long walks! On arrival some lovely scones were put out for us with some fresh flowers, pamphlets available aswell as a letter with restaurant recommendations and local shops - small touches definitely make this place feel SO special. Great place and I would definitely stay here again!

The Converted "Cow Shed" has been transformed into a luxury one bed conversion with exposed beams and beautifully finished with everything you could possibly want. Easy access to the New Forest, Coastal resorts/beaches and cities. Jo & Phil are great hosts making you feel very welcome.

John's Barn is a beautiful modern conversion that was completed this year. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an open plan kitchen / living / dining area. Set in 50 acres of private woodland and fields. Close to new-forest. Min 7 nights booking.
The space is great for families with great access to the outdoors / woodland to explore, tracks to cycle, a river and a lake to fish.
Ideally placed for exploring the New Forest, 5 mins drive to Peppa Pig World (v. popular for little ones) and Paultons Park, Moors Valley and the Solent. Historic towns of Salisbury, Winchester and Southampton less than 30 mins away.
  • Fantastic holiday everything was perfect, Bobbie and John from arrival to departure were the best hosts. Their barn and grounds were fantastic for exploring for all the family from riding bikes to walking through the woods. The barn is in a great location for exploring all things in the New Forest and offers a peaceful retreat.

    Andrew2015-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This barn surpassed our expectations from the off; the interior is spacious and modern, but cosy and atmospheric in the evenings with the log burner. Bedrooms are all warm, cosy and inviting with sumptuous linen and colourful woollen throws. We did a lot of cooking and the kitchen was a joy to be in - all fixtures and fittings top end. The grounds themselves are beautiful, wild and expansive; our two year old had so much fun feeding the carp in the lake and running free in the play area and woods! The setting is idyllic and is just a ten minute drive to the New Forest where the wild ponies roam and there is a plethora if fun for all the family - we particularly enjoyed the New Forest Wildlife centre - fantastic for busy adventuring toddlers! We cannot recommend John's barn highly enough and hope to be back for more fun in the new year!

    Jessica2016-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is in a wonderful secluded location and is beautifully furnished. It is great for kids with a play area and trampoline. There are woods to explore with deer spotted daily and great fishing on the lake.

    Brian2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We were being welcomed by John, a bottle of prosecco and a ready-to-light fire in the wood burner. That was the beginning of a great week. The house is spacious, light and clean. But the best feature is its location. We were there with two kids and they had a blast in the surrounding forrest. For even more forrest and walking fun, visit the new forrest national park that is just a short drive away (John can give you directions). Another tip is to visit the HMS victory in Portsmouth. All in all a great house on a great location. Wholeheartedly recommended!

    Marc2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful week in John's Barn. It was the perfect escape after a busy Christmas. The woodburning stove was gorgeous and we had lovely chilled evenings in front of the fire after busy days with our boys (3 months and 2 years old). The barn was brilliantly kitted out for kids - John even produced a balance bike for our son and fixed a puncture! The real highlight was John and Bobbie's hospitality. They suggested lots of brilliant outings for us like Marwell zoo, Moors Valley park, local pubs and beaches all of which were perfect. That said our son was just as happy playing in the garden and watching John and his tractors! We would highly recommend a stay here and especially brilliant for those with young children to entertain.

    Anna-Louise2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • The setting of John's Barn was absolutely fantastic! During our stay we were able to enjoy the English countryside, Peppa Pig World and see many historical sites, castles, Roman Baths, Stonehenge, and Salisbury Cathedral. We felt at home and the barn has everything you need and MORE. My children ages 3 and 5 enjoyed the playground, pond and the spacious amenities. There are many historical sites within a short drive of the barn. The hosts are the sweetest and extremely hospitible. I can't recommend a better place to stay!!

    Brooke2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely wonderful! What a gem!! Perfect in every way!!! We stayed at Johns Barn for 3 night over the weekend of my sisters wedding. We really enjoyed using the patio garden for dinner and the kids loved the open space, climbing frame and bikes. The house is beautifully furnished and really well equipped. We loved it!!

    Amy2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is beautiful and stylish, has everything you could possibly need on hand, and is perfectly situated. It is on the doorstep of the new forest, with all that that brings, but is also tucked away in the countryside for perfect seclusion. We saw deer, birds of many varieties, rabbits, squirrels, all close up from the garden and grounds. It has a play park for children, lake where they can feed fish, swing and bikes so they can really stretch their legs too. We had a wonderful break here and would highly recommend it.

Once the village brewery, our beautiful centrally heated cottage is the perfect base to explore the New Forest and the Solent. If you fancy a day at home you can just laze in the garden - and our brilliant local pub is just a stroll up the road. Like to cook? The kitchen has everything you'll need. And the cosy living room has a log stove for those chilly autumn evenings. It's just four miles to Romsey for a choice of supermarkets and shops. And we're on site to sort out any problems.
We've over an acre of country garden which you're welcome to enjoy.
Our peaceful little village is around ten minutes from the motorway - although you'd never know it! Four miles away from Romsey with its excellent shops, we're also an easy run to Salisbury with its bustling markets and beautiful cathedral and the busy port of Southampton. The New Forest is just down the lane, Pepper Pig World ten minutes away, and it's not far to Stonehenge or The National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, or Portsmouth with its historic dockyard attractions including HMS Victory. A short drive takes you to the Solent coastline - plenty to explore there- or up to historic WInchester. And if you're prepared to go a bit further day trips to The Tank Museum and the ever popular Monkey World are perfectly possible. If you'd rather laze around there of plenty of good country walks and excellent pubs and restaurants in the surrounding villages.
  • Lovely house with great, welcoming and friendly hosts. Lovely setting and would definitely come back

    Brett2017-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Chris and Chrissie were lovely hosts. Great communication and the place was just as described. In a good location; a great base for day trips to lots of pretty villages. There were 5 of us but we had plenty of space both within and outside the house. Blessed with good weather as well so we made use of sitting outside. Thanks very much and we hope to visit again.

    Gunita2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The brew house is lovely and Chris and Chrissy are the perfect hosts, the photos don’t do the place justice. All the amenities are such high spec, amazing towels, pillows, fully equipped kitchen with great pans and knives etc. The quality very much made it feel like a home from home that we could fully enjoy and relax in. The garden is lovely and it’s in a great location for taking a walk in the new forest, heading to the local pub or relaxing in the surroundings. Would definitely recommend and come again!

    Emma2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was spotlessly clean, easy to get to (with Chris' directions), fabulous pub near by perfect experience for our first airbnb.

    Colette2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Chris was so welcoming and friendly. We were colleagues staying together for a training nearby - sadly we didn't get to spend much time at the house but it is absolutely lovely. Sparkling clean, lovely space and so quiet and tranquil. We loved it!

    Dave2018-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful little cottage in a great setting and very attentive hosts. The beds were so comfortable. I particulary really appreciated to have more than the basics provided in the very well equipped kitchen so we didn't have to eat out for the 5th night in a row. There was even enough equipment for me to make pancakes for breakfast. Thanks and hope to visit again soon.

    Delphine2018-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at Chris and Chrissie's home in Sheffield English. It was myself and a group of 4 university friends having a bit of a relaxed reunion together and it fit the bill perfectly! The place was furnished beautifully, lovely and clean and the fireplace was just a perfect touch on a chilly night - a special thank you to our hosts for coming down and showing us how to use it! It's on the edge of the new forest so perfect for a lovely hike or stroll there. Equally, it was only a 20 minute drive down to the coast to enjoy the sand and sea air! We also ordered a Tesco delivery for arrival the first night which came on time with no issues and took the stress out of eating plans. I'd thoroughly recommend this place and would visit again any time.

Our house is in a quiet location with lots of wild life around and a lovely conservation area right on our doorstep. But it is also close to the old town of Romsey where there are shops, restaurants and pubs. Nearby are the Fishlake Meadows and the Test River, famous for it's trout fishing in 'gin clear' waters. The cities of Winchester, Salisbury and Southampton are just 30 minutes away. You can also explore The NewForest, the Isle of Wight and the beaches of Bournemouth and the south coast.
We have a big house and this is a lovely room on the second floor with lots of space. The views across the conservation area are amazing and you can spot birds from here such as swallows, kestrels and barn owls. There is a little sitting area with comfy settee, chair and coffee table and television. There is a desk and tea/coffee making facilities and a mini fridge. The room is very light with two velux windows in the sleeping area as well as a dormer window facing west from the sitting area. So plenty of light. The room has it's own exclusive bathroom on the first floor - very large with bath, shower and WC. If the 'Light and Airy Room' isn't booked, you could use the bathroom on the second floor instead but this has a shower, wash hand basin and WC only (no bath). The second bed is a chair bed only.
This is a new estate but our house overlooks a conservation area. It's very quiet with virtually no traffic and lots of bird song. We are just two miles from the old market town of Romsey where there are shops, pubs and restaurants. The Test River runs through the town and along the valley, the chalk streams are famous for their 'gin clear' waters, some of the best trout fishing in the world. You can also visit the ancient cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury about 30 minutes from here. Southampton, the Isle of Wight and the New Forest are also nearby.
  • Great Airbnb venue, It is exactly as described, if you are in the Romsey area this BnB is a must. Huge room, great hosts, lovely breakfast, good base for visiting the Romsey, Winchester area. Lots of places of interest within easy reach.

  • Wow what a wonderful room! Actually it's more of a suite, lovely bedroom with very comfy bed, great lounge with leather sofa and armchair, TV and mini fridge. and a full sized private bathroom. Jessica and Graham are wonderful hosts, very friendly and helpful. They have lots of information on the local area. We had great breakfasts with lots of choice and fresh bakery each morning. The National car museum is a lovely 1/2 hr drive through the New Forest. Thanks for a lovely experience. Anne & David x

  • What a beautiful home in a fabulous location opposite Romsey Nature Reserve ! After advising Jessica of our very late arrival (11.15pm), we welcomed the comfortable bed and immaculate room. Awoke to a stunning view the following morning, a piping hot shower in a large private bathroom, and a welcome breakfast of breads, cheeses, eggs, cereals, and a pot of tea. What a fabulous first experience of Airbnb, and one I wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I would love to stay there again in the not too distant future! Thank you ! :)

Communication was very good and I heartily recommend ‘The Police House’.

The Loft is a spacious apartment perfect for exploring the New Forest. The open plan kitchen, dining and living room is perfectly set up for two and there is a spacious bedroom with ensuite shower room. The property is very light and has lovely views to the forest and over the owners well maintained garden. It is the perfect base for venturing out on forest walks and cycle rides. Salisbury, Winchester and the coast are all within easy reach. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too.
Nestled in the ancient North Ridge of The New Forest National Park, The Loft provides a peaceful hideway to relax and enjoy the unique beauty of the forest. Situated within the forest boundary, inside the cattle grid areas, our regular visitors include the famous ponies and cattle that make the forest such a stunning wildlife environment. Whilst deer are a rare sight, we often welcome a small herd into the paddocks, to enjoy some free grazing! The Loft is a beautifully presented first floor apartment with its own entry hall. It is attached to the main house and parking is available outside the stables. Guests have access to a patio area to enjoy the summer sunshine. The kitchen is well-equipped with a sink, dishwasher, fridge, two ring electric hob, oven and microwave. • Located in a beautiful area and with plenty of information at hand about the local surroundings, this is a fantastic place to relax and plan walks into the New Forest. Astrid and Mark made for great hosts always very friendly and helpful, I would definitely stay here again.

  • Astrid and Mark were both lovely and very helpful. I would recommend staying here to anyone, great quite location in the middle of the New Forest.

    Rachel2016-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • Luxurious accommodation in an idyllic setting. If you are wanting to stay in the New Forest then this is a lovely place to be. Set right in the New Forest, not next to a pub or anything townish, this has ponies roaming on the road outside, deer sneaking in the lower paddock to graze and a lovely comfy bed at night…not to mention everything else you might need in luxury self catering accommodation. It’s close to everything but located in the forest – very special and beautiful. Sadly I didn’t get to meet Astrid and Mark as they were away but their loft apartment was beautiful. Astrid was only ever a phone call away. The loft apartment was clean, bright and airy. Astrid was very helpful via phone suggesting places to visit. Astrid and Mark’s gardens are stunning, very well kept. I loved my time here, it’s a great place to stay and explore this beautiful and unique part of England.

The loft was impeccably clean with all the amenities you could want, a helpful guide was also provided which makes getting to know the area far easier. Astrid left us clear instructions on how to find the place and she was very good at communicating with us. Would 100% recommend to booking a few nights. Thank you Astrid

This is an airy, peaceful home set in a 4.5 acre garden with a private lake. Perfect as a restful retreat. Bordering the New Forest, within easy range of many local attractions including Stone Henge also makes this an ideal base from which to explore.
Our house is a charming barn conversion, with pine flooring and bright white walls through out. The house's layout is contemporary, with an open plan farmhouse kitchen and eating area. The living room has a wood burning stove at it's centre. There are well stocked book shelves and old school board games to enjoy. The house is decorated with a quirky collection of original art works. It is a colourful, airy and relaxed home in a very peaceful setting. The largest bedroom is in the attic. It is a lovely room, bright and spacious. The staircase leading to it is a paddle or alternating step staircase. If you are not used to one, it can feel a bit steep when descending it, so please look at the pictures to see it first. The other bedrooms are two doubles, both on the ground floor. There are two bathrooms. One with a shower and one with a bath, both with W.C.s. The garden is wonderful. It was a labour of love designed and tended to by Harry's mother. She was a prize winning florist in her time, and when she retired, the garden became her life's work. The results are wonderful, and we are gradually restoring it to its former glory. Please feel free to explore the 4.5 acre garden, full of places to sit, picnic, or relax in. It consists of a mature formal garden, beyond which is an open lawn leading to a private lake. The lake is frequented by kingfishers, nesting ducks, herons and egrets. We also get visited by glow worms from time to time, which is very exciting. The lake is a great spot to sit around at dawn or dusk for birdsong. At one end of the lake is an impressive bamboo grove ideal for hide and seek.
Sherfield English is a tiny village with a pub, post office and garage. It is nestled close to the market town of Romsey. Famous inhabitants have included Florence Nightingale. She is buried locally at St Margaret of Antioch, which is a pleasant walk away. Local Amenities: The local pub 'The Hatchet' less than a 5 minute walk away, and has an excellent reputation for good food. It is a popular family pub with locals, and has a secure garden with a children's play area. For breakfasts, teas and cake, there is Gilbert's Nursery less than 5 minutes walk in the other direction. It is particularly popular on the weekends. Lots of cyclist groups use it as a regular pit stop on their weekend rides. Breakfast (and fishing) is also available at Dandy's Ford Fishing and Tea Rooms (0.7 miles). Kimbridge (4 mils) is the local speciality farm shop with amazing treats; and a restaurant and cafe. For something more formal, 'The Blue Hays' (2 miles) is a local restaurant that has a solid reputation for traditional food and has been in business since the 1960's. Sherfield English village shop (0.8 miles) is good for last minute things, or the post office. There is finally, the fabulous Shootash Car Boot Sale (2 miles) every Saturday morning, if that's your tipple. Surrounding us, you've got Romsey, Salibury, and Winchester, The New Forest, Broadlands, Mottisfont Abbey, Wilton House, and a host of Neolithic sites to visit. There are quintessentially English villages such as Stockbridge, and wonderful churches and footpaths to explore. Romsey (4 miles) is our local market town. The food markets run on Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday. The farmers Market. 1st Sunday of the month. There is a huge country show held at Broadlands on the edge of the town. It's once a year, on the 12th of September. There is also a host of small cafes, restaurants and shops; and an Art Deco theatre which hosts local productions. New Forest. (3 miles) The New Forest with its famous and ancient woodland with its knotted trees, huge mossy oaks and marshy expanses populated by wild horses which roam free across it. You can explore it by hiring a horse; cycling, or walking. The area is littered with historic villages. Lymington is the site of Buckland Rings Iron Age hill fort. The Rufus Stone near Minstead marks the spot King William II fell in 1100AD. The New Forest Folk Festival is a wonderful annual event; and there is the New Forest Country Show in July. Salisbury (9 miles). Salisbury is my favourite town. The cathedral is fantastic. It has not lost any of its original impact despite the town's growth around it. You can see the Magna Carta; listen to the choral singing; or get tours of the various points of interest. The town itself is charming, and bustling. There is a farmers and artisan market, a plethora of shops, cafes, an art centre, theatre and National Trust houses to visit. The 1950's cafe upstairs in the antique centre is great for tea and cake; and The Boston is good for generous sized food. Winchester (15 miles). Winchester is charming. It has weekly antiques and bric-a brac markets, as well as a street food markets. You can visit Winchester Cathedral, the Gurkha Museum, Wolvesey Castle, or Marwell Wildlife Centre. Winchester is a cultural hub, with its Art College and schools. There are plenty of festivals hosted there, including the Chamber Music Festival, Hampshire Food Festival; and Winchester hat fair amongst others. Nearby Ancient Monuments. Danebury Fort, and Old Sarum Iron Age Fort are about 14 miles away. Danebury Fort is especially atmospheric. Its high up position allows you to see seven other hill fort settlements surrounding it. For a good day trip, Stone Henge is only 20 miles away. Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury hill and the Rideway are all about 40 miles away.
  • Lovely setting and beautiful garden, Claudine left us a welcome note and some additional information about the property. Thanks for a great stay

  • Myself and my 5 friends had a fab weekend away in Harry's house. It stands as an excellent base for exploring the New Forest and was more than comfortable for our stay. The rooms were large, light and welcoming. Communication was quick and excellent! Be warned - the stairs to the upstairs bedroom are more of a ladder so may be more challenging for some. Would definitely recommend a stay here!

    Louise2018-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful stay. The house was beautifully presented set on lovely grounds offering a peaceful alternative to the bustle of the big city. The house was spacious, tastefully decorated and fit the bill of a lovely country retreat perfectly. Claudine was a treat to deal with and a lovely host (although we didn't meet her in person as she was not at the property during our stay).

  • Lovely, well equipped cottage - would be nice for either a summer or winter stay. Beautiful gardens - we even saw a stag! Very helpful and easy to communicate with in advance and when necessary during our stay. Local pub not quite as nice as advertised but nice to have places within walking distance to go to.

  • Would highly recommend both the property and Harry as a host. We travelled as a family of 6 adults and found the cottage to be perfectly spacious and equipped for our stay. Beautifully furnished and clean throughout, with an added bonus of quite an exceptional garden space. We thoroughly enjoyed our time relaxing at the property as well as exploring the surrounding sites. Would definitely return one day. Thank you Harry!

    Ryan2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet rural location with a nice pub within walking distance. Cosy and rustic home with everything you need, the log burner was lovely in the evening. Huge gardens to explore which the children loved especially the hammocks in the trees! Only a short drive into Romsey which is a nice little market town with lots of restaurants and shops. The New Forest is also only a short drive where there is plenty to do and see.

  • Tranquil and secluded getaway but only a walk to the local pub which was friendly and did good food. Petrol station and shop a couple of miles away and Romsey is close too, so all in all a great location. The cottage is lovely and the log burner a boon on colder nights. It was like home from home with a kitchen well stocked for home cooking. Cosy lounge too. Harry is a very good host and you can contact him easily if need be, highly recommended.

    Steven2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed staying at Harry's place. Exactly as described, super clean, kitchen with everything you need and a big garden. In a quiet area and with a pub just 5 min away. We would definitely stay again!

  • Karen's private studio was perfect for our weekend stay in the New Forest. It was spacious and clean and Karen had provided us with all we needed for our stay; inc milk, toast and towels. The location was ideal for visiting all the areas of the New Forest. We would definitely recommend staying here!

This is a custom built shepherds hut, positioned in our private woodland with direct access on to the open forest. It can be warm and cosy with a log fire in the woodburner, or open the stable door to let the outside in. Alternatively sit outside on the wooden decking with a fire pit in the evenings. There is a 'camp kitchen' with a gas barbecue, fridge, butler sink and covered seating area, or walk to one of our local pubs for lunch or supper. There is an outside tap and electricity on site.
The hut is amazingly cosy with a wood burning stove, it is beautifully furnished and sited in a patch of private woodland. There is electricity to the hut, a mains water tap, an outside decking area with seating, also a fire pit for the evenings. We have built a camp kitchen with a gas barbecue and covered dining area. You have the use of a bathroom in our house complete with a waterfall shower and there is a outside privy in the wood. You will be living with nature literally on your doorstep. Deer are regular visitors, a badger trots through the wood most evenings and our cows in the next door field are always interested in what you are up to!
You never tire of walking out on to the New Forest. It is always beautiful, whatever the season or weather. Not only is there the breathtaking scenery, but there are always animals and birds to watch in their natural habitat. There are some great pubs within walking distance. The nearest is Rockingham Arms, Wellow (I would recommend booking a table if you like the look of it) which is about 20 minutes from the back gate across the forest. Then there is The Lamb, Nomansland and The Royal Oak, Fritham. These are a bit further but worth the effort! Within easy driving distances you can visit the Cathedral cities of Salisbury and Winchester, the ports of Southampton and Lymington and any of the New Forest towns and villages such as Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Burley.
  • Superb location and a fantastic little hideaway. Would recommend to anybody and would definitely stay again!

  • Our stay at the Shepherd's Hut was thoroughly enjoyable. Liz and Richard were so welcoming and went out of their way to get us everything we needed, including a lend of some wellies which were essential for the wet weekend. The hut itself was so clean and cosy and had everything we needed for our stay. The wood burning stove was a welcome treat over the cold, wet bank holiday weekend. We were so tucked up inside we didn't even notice the weather! The privy toilet was better than expected and we were free to come and go from the main house to use the bathroom there to shower etc. We were able to cook breakfast at the barbecue beside the fire pit and we even had fresh eggs from the farm courtesy of Liz, and in the evening we toasted marshmallows over the fire pit. Crocs and robes were even provided for the walk between the hut and the privy. The hut is perfectly situated in the middle of the New Forest so was the perfect base for going on walks and exploring local villages. The nearby pub was excellent. Would highly recommend staying here if you fancy a cosy, romantic break with a bit of a difference!

  • We loved our stay here. The hut is a lovely place to stay, and we loved the rustic but practical outdoor dining, cooking, and toileting spaces. The inside is really welcoming, and beautifully done, and the stove helps warm it up nicely on cold evenings or mornings (and we had a couple of those). The track to the accommodation is quite long, for anyone with mobility difficulties, but this is also part of the charm of staying here. You have the best of being on the edge of the forest and on the edge of the farm, both of which are lovely to see. The setting is totally idyllic and we were sad to leave. The first morning I wandered into the woods to 'spend a penny' and looked up to find a stag looking across the glade at me. We saw lots of deer, which was lovely, and we enjoyed seeing the cows as we walked to the hut (they're behind a fence). Liz as a host was brilliant - the prefect blend of warm and welcoming, and helpful in every way possible, while leaving us to enjoy our time without feeling like we were impeding on her life or home. One day we lost our pasta somewhere, for example, and rather than us going back to the shop she found some for us from her kitchen and even offered to cook it for us. Liz is a lovely lady and a great host, and she makes staying here even nicer an experience. All in all a lovely place to stay that I recommend whole heartedly. It is ideally located for the new forest, with walk from the doorstep, and is a lovely, peaceful, private place to be. I just wish I could come back soon.

  • I’ve had to re write this review 6 times now as every time I feel I’m not doing it justice! There are no words to describe the accommodation, location, experience , hospitality and lovely liz! The only negative aspect of it all was wishing i’d stayed longer , or ever having to ever leave at all. Once we arrived we switched our phones off and switched ourselves off to the hustle and bustle of everyday , with only the birds tweeting or a crack from the fire interrupting conversation. It. Was.Bliss. Set back deep in the wood away from liz’s house to feel genuinely rustic campers, private and secluded , all the while being within liz’s mass of gated land to feel safe and protected (amazing for the dog too). The attention to details was so sweet and a real home from home. No photos could do it justice to it’s beautiful style , location, layout , so if like me it’s ticking all your boxes already just with those provided your in for a huge surprise once you arrive. I will defiantly be coming back again and I’m telling everyone I know in need of some stripping back and time out about liz’s shepherd hut! Can’t recommend it enough

  • My best friend and I came to the New Forest for a weekend adventure and we have the most wonderful time in Liz's hut. The photos do not do the hut & and the surround area justice. Liz is a wonderful host, so friendly & helpful and everything was so clean and tidy. The hut is absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed eating our meals on the deck in the sunshine everyday. Just out the back was the stunning New Forest with lots of ponies which was what we were keen to see. I'd highly recommend saying here for the wonderful hosting, the amazing scenery and the gorgeous accommodation. Thanks again Liz

  • This place is Paradise. There are no words to explain how we felt arriving at the Shepherds Hut. It is set in woodland and is so peaceful that we relaxed instantly we got there. The hut has a comfy double bed, table, chairs, electricity and a wood burning stove (which we didn't use as the weather was warm). Outside there is a patio with table and chairs for eating and the well equipped BBQ is by the 'fire pit' also with table and chairs for relaxing. There is a fridge and facilities for washing up and a toilet. The Shower room is adjacent to the house. What you can expect here is peace and quiet in a beautiful setting right on the edge of New Forest heathland. You can expect to see deer and ponies and donkeys roaming free, butterflies and birds too. Liz is a wonderful host giving us lots of information and was prompt with all communication too. This was really paradise for us and we will be returning.

  • Gorgeous getaway, right in the New Forest. You really feel that nature is on your doorstep here. Liz is an excellent and courteous host, and even gave us a few fresh eggs for breakfast! Would definitely come back to stay in this pretty little shepherds hut again, it has everything you need for a low-key and relaxing stay. Bring marshmellows for the fire pit!

  • We had a wonderful time, the Shepard’s hut is beautifully done and Liz was very friendly and welcoming. Perfect for a peaceful break.

The bathroom is just next door, off the kitchen with towels, mats and toiletries provided. There are buses running from directly outside & perfect for both universities.
Gorgeous sun room, with double doors to garden. Wet Style Shower Room with tiled floor, WC and towels & soaps provided. Guests are welcome to use the decking space during their stay. *** Please note we do not provide breakfast simply due to our working arrangements. You are more than welcome to use the fridge & kitchen during your stay - however do send me a message if this was something you wished to use before your stay. ***
We are really central here and very close to local bus stops. If you take a left out of the house and walk down London Road, you are in town/high street in 15 minutes. Uber services the Avenue or West Quay Cars if you wish to use a taxi are very local. There are excellent restaurants in Watermark West Quay or on Bedford Place, London Road or the city centre. You really are spoilt for choice! The Common is excellent for a walk and is 10 minutes up The Avenue to the right.
  • Teri was a great host, she had made the room ready and it was perfect, with the sunny back garden and the access onto the deck, I was made very comfortable with a cuppa on arrival out in the sunshine. All amenities provided with a good shower and wet-room immediately accessible. Even a tea/coffee set provided in the room. The room is a good size with a double bed and everything is brand new, it is really light and airy, with direct access to the deck. Definitely worth another visit.

  • Teri was an absolutely fantastic host. Very welcoming and lovely. The room is nice and cozy with an exit to garden. Was funny crashing at a place literally next door to house I used to live in myself for such a long time. Definitely recommend and will return! :)

    Baiba2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • I was very unsatisfied with the level of cleanliness. I also found the bed to be very uncomfortable - lumpy pillows and a wafer-thin duvet. The arrival time was also listed incorrectly, so we had to wander around for three hours whilst they got the place ready, though Teri was apologetic.
