Thanks for checking out the bus. It has been a joy to meet so many nice people since we listed it on Airbnb. The bus is just a short walk from our house where you can use the bathroom and kitchen if you need. Thanks again!
It's a 1997 school bus, not too long, not too short. There is a sofa, table, woodstove and full bed. There is ambient light and electricity on the bus as well as several candles. It has a wood floor and wood wall siding. It's in a private area of my yard and in the warmer weather there is a hammock and tree swing to be enjoyed just outside the bus. Aside from the bus, my bathroom is shared and my kitchen can be used also if requested. It depends on what the guest seems to prefer. I have had dinner with guests and taken them on tours of the area, picked them up from the train, given rides, etc. Many guest prefer to just have some privacy in the country and I respect that totally. I also work a lot which can hinder my availabilityon certain days. I live on a country road and my neighbors are like family.

  • Amazing trip! The bus was cozy and clean and tucked away and private. I got a better night's sleep there than in my own bed. I was surprised by the luxury of it- electricity, air conditioning, a computer and DVDs, and a little porch. Will definitely be returning and recommending to friends.

  • Loved this quaint stay in a repurposed school bus. I found it to be clean with thoughtful details and plenty of charm. I was comfortable and found the location serene yet Convenient to town. I had no issues with needing to use the restroom inside as the host was super hospitable and generous with access to house. Would recommend for sure.

  • I had an amazing time on the bus! It was very relaxing and Will was very welcoming. You can tell the love and care that went into making the bus, and I would not miss a chance to book this bus again for a weekend in Shepherdstown/Harpers Ferry.

  • Will and Sabrina were great hosts--full of hospitality and very easy going. They even invited us to spend an evening with a big bonfire and welcoming neighbors. Don't miss the opportunity to board the magic school bus and meet their crew of furry four-legged friends!

  • We had a great stay in Will's school bus. He was easy going, communicative, friendly, and super accommodating. He went so far as to fabricate a base for the futon so that our children could sleep on it. It was truly a memorable experience and we look forward to our next stay in the future.

  • Will and Sabrina were amazing hosts! The bus has amazing features, our favorite of which was the wood stove! After a long day of hiking at Harper's Ferry, the bed was perfect and comfortable. Will also has a fantastic property with Chickens (Lil' Dale is the best), and very friendly rescue dogs Bruce and Wayland. The location is close to Harper's Ferry and the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. Shepherdstown is very charming, and has great restaurants. The bus is also dog friendly, which is great! We will definitely come back, and highly recommend to friends!

  • We had a great time at Wil's and his communication before we arrived was excellent. The bus was fun and comfortable and the kids thought it was great. He had just finished a new deck out front and we had a lovely time staying out late with the moon and the forest. It got cool at night and there were plenty of blankets to keep us warm. We loved having the bunny to visit inside and walk over to say hi to the donkey. One thing to note, if you are a light sleeper there is a train which goes by with a loud whistle 3-4 times during the night, but my kids slept through it and I went right back to sleep. It's a great place to say!

    Bevin2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this! Very cute bus. The location is perfect. It is very private but still a short walk to Will's. Will was very welcoming and has a super cool dog.

This cabin is a chalet style cabin situated in the eastern panhandle highlands of West Virginia. At almost 1900 ft elevation, it offers stunning views anytime of day and of course for sunrise and sunset. It is secluded, about 25 minutes away from downtown Berkley Springs. Hiking, fishing, paddling, shopping, dining, spas, antiquing and state parks all nearby.
My closest neighbor is about 1/4 miles away. All you hear are the sounds of nature and the occasional train echoing from the Potomac river valley. You'll have access to the whole cabin. I will interact with you to give you the keys and directions. no neighborhood. no public transit.
    no neighborhood.
  • Kara's place was cute with a new view and very relaxing. There was a serious fly problem while we were there, which led to about two hours of us cleaning ourselves upon arrival, and made it impossible to use the back porch, which was a shame. Getting into the neighborhood is also very tricky, so I would definitely recommend that guests arrive during daylight. We didn't go into any local towns, but my sister went to a historic tunnel in the surrounding area and thought that was a worthwhile tourist attraction.

  • This is an absolutely wonderful cabin with views that can't possibly be captured in a picture. We overpacked - not knowing what to expect but this is a comfortable and well-used home. It takes seconds to feel at ease here. It's truly a place to let whimsy and spontaneity guide your time. The wood stove is warm and the furniture is soft. The patio and deck are comfortable and inviting. There are hammocks and campfire circles and even a swinging bench seat overlooking one of the best views. Inside, from refrigerator magnet poetry to the neatest bird-feeder I've ever seen (seriously, why don't all houses have those?), you feel like you're in a loved place. Kara is a wonderful and clearly experienced host. The information she sent us was exactly what we needed. Thank You!

  • Drove up to this wonderful cabin for a weekend getaway with my girlfriend. Was very impressed with the amenities. Very private, great views. I would definitely recommend it.

  • Beautiful location. Easy to follow instructions. Everything inside was pictured (even better in person actually). Felt clean and well kept. Thank you!

  • Definitely a wonderful and secluded place to relax. The view is great and Kara is a great host. We really enjoyed our staying and are planning to visit in winter time!

  • Kara's cabin is a wonderful, secluded place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings. The location of the cabin is great, as it's only 25 minutes from Berkeley Springs, which is a very cute little town (highly recommend the mineral baths and roman baths). Kara sent us very detailed information that made check-in easy and helped us ensure that we had everything we needed. Such a lovely, relaxing experience. Thank you, Kara!

In addition, there are plenty of restaurants including James Beard recognized Lot 12, spas, studios, galleries, shops, and antique stores for all to enjoy. In short, Berkeley Spring, WV has something for everyone.
Local Interests There are many things to do beyond Moss Hill. Below is a list of local attractions, shopping, grocery stores, liquor stores, restaurants, and bars. Below are a few of my favorite places: Attractions: Cacapon State Park: Enjoy miles of hiking trails, a beautiful scenic overlook, lake with a sand beach and paddle boat rentals, and a Trent Jones golf course. Berkeley Springs State Park: Enjoy this beautiful park in downtown Berkeley Springs that has its own spa, public baths, mineral springs, and public pool. Don’t forget to check out George Washington’s bath tub. Berkeley Springs Castle: Look above as you wander the state park in downtown and you’ll see a castle. That’s right, an actual castle overlooking the town. While not open for tours, you can drive into the entrance and snap a couple of photos. Star Theater: This depression era movie theater on the main street shows second run movies for $4.50. The delicious popcorn is cheap too! And, for a dollar extra, you can reserve a couch. Paw Paw Tunnel: Located about a 30 minute drive from Berkeley Springs, the Paw Paw tunnel is part of the C&O canal. Built in the mid 1800’s, the tunnel stretches over 3,000 feet. New Earth Granary: The Granary offers an eclectic mix of entertainment brought to you by local musicians, artists, and players. For a list of events, visit Atasia Spa: Quite simply the best spa in Berkeley Springs, Frankie Tan and the team at Atasia Spa offer many services at great prices. Berkeley Springs Farmers Market: Located adjacent to the Berkeley Springs Park and across from the courthouse, this wonderful little farmers market offers fresh vegetables, flowers, and offerings from other local vendors. Open each Sunday from 11-2 and Thursdays from 2-5 during from April thru December. Thursday hours in July & August. Shopping: There are some really great shops in downtown Berkeley Springs. From antique malls to holistic shops, there is something for everyone. One of our favorite shops to find treasures is Youngbloods Antiques. It’s located roughly a mile east on RT 9 outside of Berkeley springs. Groceries: Food Lion: This full service grocery store has everything you need during your stay. Located at the south end of town off HWY 522. Just look for the McDonalds and you’re there. Community Garden Market: Looking for something local and organic? Check out the Community Garden Market. Located on the main street, this quaint little shop will help you get your organic on! Liquor Stores: 7 Eleven: Yes, there is a small liquor store located inside this convenience store. The store is located at the intersection of HWY 522 and RT 9 South (at the bottom of the hill leading to the castle). Top Shelf Liquors: For a better selection than 7 Eleven, check out Top Shelf Liquors located in a plaza off HWY 522 near the Dollar General. Address: 261 Berkmore Pl | Phone: Dining: Lot 12 Public House: Located in a beautifully restored Victorian home on a hill overlooking the town, Lot 12 boasts West Virginia’s only James Beard Chef. • This cabin is perfect for a couple that wants to come and unwind, watch the moon set through the large windows over the back deck, and wake to silence. We love coming to Berkeley Springs to take in the hot springs and eat at Lot 12 (truly amazing food) and Earth Dog. But mostly, we just want to relax, and this is the perfect place to do that. Comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, a hot tub. What more could you ask for?

    Marie2017-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • Moss Hill was the perfect respite from our busy lives. You have all of the peace and quiet of being in the middle of the woods with all of the creature comforts we've become accustomed to! From the comfy bed to the well-equipped kitchen to the welcoming deck and screened-in porch, Jim leaves no detail overlooked. Our favorite was gazing at the deer from the hot tub in the early morning! Divine!!!!

    Marjorie2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Moss Hill is a great place! Jim thought of everything! All you need to bring is clothes and food and drink! Secluded and very comfy! Also very romantic! We were greeted with a bottle of wine and a personal note from Jim! We will be back and we will recommend Moss Hill to others! Thanks Jim.

    Ed2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We chose Moss Hill because we were looking to completely unplug, which we did, but you can do either here with the wireless Internet and TV options available. We visited during the winter and simply listened to the silence and enjoyed the chance to have an uninterrupted thought. I recommend following Jim's recommendations: hiked Cacapon State Park, took a Roman bath and got a massage at Berkeley Springs State Park, and ate at Country Inn and Ambrae House. Clear guidance on how to best enjoy the cabin, clear guidance on everything, and responsive whenever you somehow still have a question! Highly recommend staying here!

    Nick2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Jim's place for a weekend birthday trip with three friends. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the cabin, which is in fact secluded and located in a beautiful wooded area. Everything was clean and set up nicely when we arrived - including a nice welcome card and bottle of wine. The binder about the cabin and area were really helpful and the checkout checklist made it easy to ensure we were leaving everything in the best state possible. We would definitely consider staying here again.

    Amanda2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin couldn't have been more perfect - quaint, quiet, luxurious, with every amenity we could have asked for. We definitely want to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the grill and firepit, too. Thanks, Jim!

    Kelly2016-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was beautiful and secluded. It's a wonderful place to get away from daily concerns. Jim provided a great deal of useful information and we had a fantastic time. I would recommend it to anyone wishing for peace and quiet in a great location.

    David2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin was just what we were looking (URL HIDDEN) warm and inviting. Relaxation is what we needed...and what we got. There really was no reason to leave the cabin! We especially loved the screened-in porch...where we watched TV as well as deer and squirrels. Jim is an amazing host.

  • What a superb location and kind host. Thanks Karl for welcoming us with 2 cold beer and a friendly handshake. The place was clean, relaxing, and well kept. We'll be back at some point. It is in such a great location for visiting the local sites.

    John2016-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Karl was a delightful host and his dogs Benny and Buck are the two most beautiful and well behaved dogs. The place is impeccable. My wifi didn't work well but I believe that was an anomaly due to weather or something. Steam Sauna didn't work but on hindsight, it must have short circuited. I should have alerted Karl so it could have been reset. The place is clean and all amenities are provided. The hot tub was nice to recover after the race that evening after lots of icing. The loft is so quaint but can be adventurous to get up the ladder. For us the place is absolutely charming and I cannot imagine a better host.

    Yen2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Greet place to stay, very friendly host! Had a good night sleep and loved the deck to drink our coffee in the morning!

    Lea2015-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Karl was extremely welcoming, friendly, and helpful, with suggested restaurants in town and things to see. This location is really adorable, rural, but in a small village sized area. There is a nearby smaller road to go for a walk. The cottage is very well put together, cozy and delightful. We went for a quiet relaxing night after a stressful event in the area. Be aware that the sleeping area is a loft with a very sturdy stepladder, if mobility is an issue. It was very cute and I got used to it quickly! You could use this facility with one or two kids at most, but we will leave our 5 kids at home!!!

    R2014-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Karl was an excellent host. He had great suggestions for the area and how to enjoy Sheperdstown. The house is exactly what was promised. The view is cozy, and the Hot Tub and Sauna are a rare treat that you won't find for such a nice price any where else.

Located on a quiet road just 4 miles from Seneca Rocks, WV the Seneca House Barn is conveniently located to many attractions including Spruce Knob, the Dolly Sods and Blackwater Falls. The barn has its own bathroom with hot water and kitchenette (NOT A FULL KITCHEN). Towels and linens provided. **There is a space heater, but it is not insulated. Expect cold nighttime temps in May, Sept, and Oct. There are lots of extra blankets! **Please advise if you will have pets ($10 fee per pet per night)
This quaint barn was renovated in 2013, and is located in my yard, a short distance from the main house. It has its own private bathroom and kitchenette (microwave, small fridge, toaster, and coffee maker)(THIS IS NOT A FULL KITCHEN). Located just 5 minutes from Seneca Rocks, WV on a quiet country road, it's the perfect location for an escape from the real world. If you're looking to get in touch with nature, this is the place for you! There is no cell phone service in the area, but free Wifi reaches the barn. There is also a TV with DVD player, but no cable TV. There is a queen bed and twin bed in the room. Sheets, blankets, towels, etc are provided. Please note, this is a true barn. Just two doors down live 2 pygmy goats, chickens, and a peacock. The birds do roam freely around the yard. There are also 2 cats that live next door, and the peacock often enjoys roosting on the roof, and often starts calling early in the morning. You may also hear some animal noises in the night... (The cats do not go into the area where you will stay. There is no cat odor and people with cat allergies should not have a problem.) The barn is situated close to the house, where I live, and rent out rooms on the weekends. I am usually around, but not always. There is a charcoal grill and a fire pit in the yard, which you are welcome to use as well. However, you will not have access to the kitchen in the house. For a unique experience come stay in the Seneca House barn! **The barn is not centrally heated or insulated. Expect cold nighttime temperatures in the spring and fall. There is a space heater in the barn that will take the bite out of the air, but be prepared for a cold night when staying in May, September, or October. (It has been known to drop below freezing!) The barn is not available over the winter.
Seneca Rocks is quite literally in the middle of nowhere. It is a very small town nestled in the mountains of West Virginia. There are many points of interest in the area, but to see these places please expect to do some mountain driving while you are here. In the town of Seneca Rocks, which is about 5 miles from the house there are 2 stores with souvenirs and limited grocery items. There is a newly opened Subway restaurant, plus a couple local places to eat, but the choices are pretty limited. There are the rocks, with a hiking trail to the top. There is also a swimming hole in the river at the base of the rocks. The following places are popular among visitors, including driving times from Seneca House: Dolly Sods (45 minutes) (great hiking) Spruce Knob (40 minutes) (highest point in WV, great hiking) Blackwater Falls (45 minutes) Seneca Caverns (15 minutes) Smoke Hole Caverns (15 minutes) Davis/Thomas (45 minutes) (the nearest bars/nightlife, and best restaurants are here) Whitegrass (30 minutes) (cross country skiing) Canaan Valley (30 minutes) (downhill skiing, mountain biking) Snowshoe (1 hour) (downhill skiing)
  • We went to Seneca house for the Fourth of July weekend. Shelly was a great host, she gave great recommendations on nearby hiking trails. Also, after booking confirmation, Shelly sent a detailed directions to get to her house that were very clear and easy to follow. She was a great host as the barn had everything we needed. The barn was a little cold at night but the blankets were thick enough to keep us warm and it was a great place to stay for hot summer days. Seneca House was built by hand by Shelly and her friends and you can definitely see a lot of cute details in the house. I will definitely stay here next time I visit and I would like to try to stay at the main house next time. Very nice first Airbnb experience. Highly recommend.

    Renee2015-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • This plain and simple cabin was perfect for our stay and exploring of Seneca Rocks. The cabin itself had everything we needed, which really wasn't much more beyond a comfortable bed, a shower, mini fridge and cup of coffee in the morning. Shelly was a great host - providing any help or information we needed, but certainly leaving us to our own. What made the trip so special, especially for our two kids, were the other hosts: BubbaLou, a bluetick coon hound, greeted us with a friendly hello as we pulled up. Another dog - never got her name - was just as friendly. A couple chickens ran around. Allie and Shannon, the goats, were happy to be fed fruits. And then, Mr. Peabody, a blue peacock, strolled the grounds displaying its incredible feathers, squawking at passing cars, and perching itself atop various places throughout the property. It's a beautiful setting. A wonderful morning run exploring the neighborhood up the road was memorable in how wild and wonderful West Virginia really is.

  • Very charming refurbished barn. Had everything we needed. The location is beautiful. It was fun to pet the animals and our child had a great time!

  • We really enjoyed our stay in the barn. Shelly was very friendly and helpful. The barn is so cute and we slept really well. We also enjoyed the goats and chickens and her sweet dog! We will definitely have to stay here again if we are ever in this area!

  • Country charm with a dash of whimsy! We had so much fun staying in the barn! Shelly was great to work with and her description is spot on. Her location is ultra convenient to hiking Seneca rocks which is a hike with a spectacular view at the top! Would highly recommend anyone in the area to stay!

  • The guidance we received beforehand was very useful, including driving directions and guidance re groceries. We loved the cosiness of the place and the great views of the outdoors. The kitchen was exceptionally well stocked with pans, kitchen tools etc so we were able to enjoy some nice dinners. We really enjoyed our stay and only wish it had been for longer!

  • Wow. LRM is magic. It rained during our trip which I was actually glad about bc it allowed us to spend more time admiring LRM from the inside and just enjoy the silence. The instructions were very well written and prepared us for the drive there when cell service cut out, as well as the uphill driveway. Sharon was very responsive and made us very welcome even though I didn't get a chance to meet her. My only regret was that I didn't have the outdoorsy skills to figure out how to start a fire for the Dutchtub... in my defense, it had been raining and there was no axe available. :( I will definitely return after learning how to start a fire so I can get that Dutchtub working. Thanks for an amazing experience!

  • I surprised my wife with a stay at Lost River Modern for our 1st wedding anniversary. I was looking for a secluded romantic stay and we got it! When I told my wife there'd be no cell phone service, she was convinced I was taking her camping (she's not a camper), so was very pleasantly surprised with all the modern amenities, and beautiful views. We took advantage of the full kitchen and cooked several meals. Unfortunately did not have a chance to use the hot tub as the weather was very windy and cold Saturday, and included some snow. Yes, snow, in May. We instead built a fire in the wood burning stove which worked like a charm. Made a stop at Lost River State Park, which is right down the road, and offers some fun outdoor activities. We also took a trip over the mountain back into VA, and hit some vineyards in the Shenandoah valley. All in all a great and memorable first anniversary. Sharon was very responsive when I messaged her a few times with questions, and the house manual/binder was quite informative. Next time we want to venture out a bit farther into the WV mountains. Thanks Sharon!

  • We stayed two nights in this wonderful cabin - an architectural and design experience with all mod-cons, that's also cosy and characterful. Incredible scenery in the area make driving and hiking amazing. A real get away for peace and quiet. We spent most of the time on the deck, eating and drinking, playing games and reading and it was heavenly. Great hosts provided everything you'd ever need: from ample inspiration for things to do, to thinking of all the practical details for guests.

  • Great place. We had a wonderful time staying at Lost River Modern this past weekend. We enjoy the beautiful setting, the fantastic house and hiking in the near by Lost River state park. Plan to be back soon.

  • Chris was great to work with. The directions he provided etc were clear and well detailed. The kitchen had all we needed to make delish meals. The fireplace provided a nice warmth to the house and paired with wine, was fabulous. Overall, nice place to stay to be in the quiet. Would love to travel up again in another season to celebrate simple living at LRM. The extensive CD collection and surround sound speakers were a great way to unwind too. We rediscovered artists that we both love to listen to. Ample space for a romantic getaway weekend or for a group retreat. The views from LRM are breathtaking, you feel like you are nestled in the mountains, away from it all. We traveled for a winter getaway, but were able to spend some time on the Adirondack chairs on the patio and star gaze. (what clarity and beauty!) The hub's and my wish for a great 2015? Visit LRM in each season! Thank you Chris!

  • We had a great time. Loved the cabin, the grounds and the wood burning stove so much we literally did not leave the property all weekend. It was extremely cozy and relaxing. We were also fortunate to have both a clear starry night and a snowy one! It has everthing you need for a weekend away. We hope to return when the trees are leafed out- i imagine it's spectacular

  • This cabin was the best vacation my boyfriend and I have ever been on. It will be a vacation we talk about years to come. Sharon was so helpful and gracious. The atmosphere was so calming and relaxing, just what we needed. Thank you for letting us enjoy your home and make so many amazing memories. I would highly recommend this cabin.

This modern take on mountain cabin living is the perfect retreat for friends and families looking to find a place to get away and relax. Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains, the cabin is a quick trip from DC + Baltimore, but feels a world away. The cabin is the best of both worlds - it's part of a larger group of cabins, so there's private security and important services (plowed roads in winter, for instance) but it's also set back into the forest, giving a sense of privacy and escape.
Get away from it all in this modern cabin at the base of Hedges Mountain bordering the 23,000 acre Sleepy Creek State Wildlife Area. Just 1 1/2 to 2 hours from DC and Baltimore, this modern take on mountain cabin living is the perfect retreat for friends and families looking to find a place to get away and relax in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern West Virginia. You will enjoy over 1,000 sq. feet of comfortable cabin space and over an acre of forested property that backs up to the upslope of Hedges Mountain, abundant wildlife, and gorgeous foliage. The cabin's open floor plan is perfect for entertaining with a large gourmet kitchen situated next to the Great Room's 18 foot vaulted ceiling. The cabin has 2 bedrooms, a reading room and 2 bathrooms, a screened-in porch and a 400 square foot deck - plenty of room to spread out and relax. The master bedroom and second bedroom both have queen-sized beds. The third bedroom has a fold-out full-sized futon couch that is sneakily comfortable. The great room includes a full-sized fold out couch for larger groups. The master bathroom features a jet tub, slate tile floors, and shower. The second bath has a classic tub, slate tile floors, and shower. Listen to the soothing sounds of the wind rustling through the trees while you read a book in the vintage rocker of the Great Room. Or enjoy a morning coffee from a hammock looking through the forest and up the mountain. A large wood deck wraps around connecting the rear screened-in porch with the main deck one step below. Gather your group together for a little morning yoga, followed by an afternoon lunch on the grill, and an evening by the fire pit - all while surrounded by the beautiful views of the forest. The fully-equipped gourmet kitchen includes under-cabinet lighting, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances (including a full-sized oven and dishwasher), a traditional drip coffee maker, an espresso machine, a toaster oven, microwave, blender, waffle maker, crockpot and all the pots, pans, and utensils you'll need. The great room has a flat screen HDTV (with cable and a Chromecast to stream your favorite digital goodness), a stereo with speakers indoors and outdoors, and a beautiful brick fireplace for those chillier evenings. The cabin also features broadband internet for work or play plus a washer/dryer stack to handle your laundry. The cabin sits in a prime location just minutes from Sleepy Creek Lake and the Potomac River, both great for boating and fishing. Cyclists will enjoy the wide open country roads, and the famous C&O Towpath and Western Maryland Rail Trail accessible in nearby Hancock, MD. The cabin is also 1-hour from skiing and snowboarding at Whitetail Resort. Just 20 minutes away is historic Berkeley Springs, WV featuring natural hot spring baths frequented by George Washington. To the east 40 minutes is the quaint college town of Shepherdstown, WV. Both offer restaurants and shopping that are perfect day trips if you can pull yourself away from the natural beauty surrounding you. Martinsburg, WV is 20 minutes away, featuring the big box stores you might find useful, as well as rail access via Amtrak and MARC. Park your car in Martinsburg and take the train into DC for a day exploring museums and monuments without the hassle of finding that elusive parking spot! The cabin's backyard is the Sleepy Creek State Wildlife Area, which contains excellent hiking, bird watching, and nature photography opportunities. Take a short 40-minute walk from the cabin to reach the top of Hedges Mountain - our dogs' favorite hike. If golf is your passion, you're right in the middle of The Woods Resort, offering 36 holes of golf with a stellar view of the mountains. If a massage is more your thing, visit the full service spa just a 3-minute drive away. My cabin is a very special escape - I hope you enjoy your stay and come again soon!
The cabin sits at the bottom of Hedges Mountain, a 1243 foot beauty within the Sleepy Creek State Wildlife Area. I love all four seasons, each for different reasons.
  • The cabin was exactly as advertised and just what we wanted for the weekend. The location is perfect as it is certainly woodsy but still close enough to a store to grab any last minute items you may need for your stay. Tim was a great host and answered all our questions in a very timely manner. I would definitely stay at his cabin again in the future!

    Josh2014-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was exactly as pictured/described. My family and I had a wonderfully relaxing stay. It was so nice to be able to sit on the deck and feel so secluded in the woods and there was so much hiking... even right out of the back of the cabin. We also brought our dog and she loved it as well. We briefly met Tim and he was very nice and welcoming. Hope to stay again sometime.

  • Tim's home is wonderful and is in a great location. Very private and quiet. Check-in and Check-out were simple and Tim was easily accessible through Airbnb messaging. We had a great time and really enjoyed sitting on the screened- in porch and out on the large deck. Our furbabies were in heaven and loved exploring. I was a great trip all around and it was definitely hard to leave!!

    Kristen2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely home very reasonably priced perfect for a family getaway weekend. Kids had a wonderful time in all of the open space- spent the weekend simply exploring the forest. The hammocks, screened in deck (perfect for feeding children), and firepit for marshmallow roasting are great touches. Tim responds within the hour with questions about the property. Hope to visit again soon!

    Sarah2013-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • I can not say enough of how wonderful our getaway in the woods was! The peace & quiet. The sounds of the forest all around you at all hours of the day. The fireplace -- we definitely fell asleep in front of it more than once. The kitchen was so nice to cook in. & that jetted tub... EVERYTHING about our stay would have never been possible without Tim & his incredible hospitality. Thank you so much!!

    Holly2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • This house is amazing! Great views, scenic, and Tim is great! Excellent value.

  • My friends and I stayed at the cabin for four days in August. We had just finished two exhausting moves and we're looking to have a last vacation before going our separate ways. The cabin was perfect: secluded, but not too much so (there's a very well-stocked Food Lion nearby), clean and civilized, with a great screened-in porch for mosquito-free evenings. The woods are really lovely; we saw deer a couple times outside. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen very fun to cook in, the TV very large! I could go on and on, but there have been so many good reviews for this great DC getaway that I'll just say I look forward to the next time I have a long weekend so I can come back.

This cozy and spacious log cabin is perfect for a secluded get-away weekend or a big family reunion. Located just 2 hours from the DC Beltway, it's nestled in 44 acres of woods, with spectacular mountain views. Fully equipped - A/C, Heat, Fireplace The main floor has a huge great room with living and dining area connected (email hidden) kitchen. An enormous wall of windows (all the way up to the cathedral ceilings) means you spend your whole day looking at a beautiful mountain view. Upstairs is a loft, also looking out at the view, with a cozy sitting area, a full shower stall bathroom, and two nice bedrooms with one queen sized bed in each. Back on the main floor is the master bedroom, also with a queen sized bed, and nice master bath with a tub shower, and a half bath off the kitchen. This main level also has a nice, shady front porch, a huge deck looking out over the mountain view, and a cozy and comfy screened-in back porch - and a charcoal grill for outdoor BBQs. Downstairs is a finished basement that is sort of a recreation room and dormitory area. One queen sized bed, one full bed, and one twin bed, a pool table, a big sectional couch, and a TV and video game area make this large open (email hidden) for kids or teens to hang out. A full bath with a tub shower, an extra queen mattress and six IKEA twin foam mattresses make (email hidden) for a big sleep-over. There is the quaint small town of Moorefield very close by, with a few shops, a few restaurants, a Walmart, a nice bowling alley, and a movie theatre. Close by is the South Branch of the Potomac River with lots of tubing and fishing. Not too far away is Seneca Rocks and in the other direction is Lost River. But you may just want to hang out, read a book, enjoy the silence and the beauty, cook a big meal, enjoy a drink with friends, and go for long walks on the country lanes. Sorry! No pets :(

  • Incredible! I can confirm that the cabin is even more beautiful in person. We brought together friends from many different places and felt right at home. Spacious and cozy, unreal views, and even though the snow presented some driving difficulties it was so worth it! Really can't say enough positive things. Floyd was wonderful, a kind and accommodating host much better than myself at timely replies. Very helpful with directions and etc. Highly, highly recommend!

    Jessica2015-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • This house was amazing! Everything was clean and as described in the listing. The views are awesome and we enjoyed many beautiful sunsets on the deck. Floyd was very helpful and responded to emails quickly. Although the house is remote, we were still able to visit many places in about 1-2 hrs (I was worried before we came that they'd be too far away): Seneca Rocks, Seneca Caverns, Smoke Hole Caverns, Spruce Knob, Blackwater Falls, Dolly Sods.

    Sarah2015-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect for my group. We were looking for a place nearby to many long day hiking opportunities and were really glad to have found this cabin. Ahead of the reservation, Floyd was very communicative with directions and instructions and was readily available to answer questions. The detailed directions to the cabin were excellent. The cabin itself is beautiful, comfortable, very clean, and in a spectacular setting. The views from the large windows in the great room and from the deck are simply breathtaking. And at night, the stars in the sky are spectacular. The bedrooms are also cozy and comfortable. The general location of the cabin was great for us to get out and do some long day hikes. Additionally, the nearby town of Moorefield has some good local restaurants as well. I would definitely stay here again!

    Paul2015-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Firstly, excellent communication between the host while he was on vacation himself. Floyd provided very specific details for directions to the cabin, down to finding my way using the odometer on the car. The location of the cabin was just marvelous, the views were a big factor in choosing Floyd. Once arriving to the cabin we learned how incredibly accommodating Floyd was, you have to check it out for yourself! There was pre chopped fire wood, brochures on surrounding activities, all the rooms were comfy, great WiFi, and even a guest book to sign! It was a solid week before everyone was finally able to talk about something other than the cabin weekend getaway. Overall, such a great stay in a beautiful cabin.

    Steven2015-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • Floyd was an incredible host! He was super helpful leading up to our weekend trip, and provided excellent driving directions and instructions for the house. We were able to cook a huge shrimp boil feast in the awesome kitchen, and Floyd had every type of pot and serving dish we could ever need. The house itself is beautiful, as is the surrounding West Virginia countryside. Would come back in a heartbeat!!

    Ali2014-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • Floyd was great, and very responsive throughout the rental process. The information he provided is very thorough. The cabin itself is set up extremely well to host various people-- it has a lot of good cooking supplies (pots/pans), bedding, towels etc. The cabin is beautiful and the area around it is extremely serene. The layout of the cabin is great for many people to hang out together, but still has more secluded areas that people can go to. We had a fun relaxing weekend at the cabin, and loved being able to use the firepit/fireplace, and being able to hike around the property.

    Alba2015-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views, house and host. we were blown away by Floyd and his wonderful home. We will definitely be coming back every year.

    May2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Once again, this was an amazing stay. Highly recommended. This cabin is quickly becoming our go-to place for a quiet weekend out of town.

Black Bear Resort is located at the north end of Canaan Valley, with easy access to Timberline, Canaan and White Grass skiing, Canaan Valley State Park, Blackwater Falls State Park and its spectacular waterfall, the quaint towns of Davis and Thomas, and miles and miles of hiking and biking. If you enjoy trout fishing, there are endless opportunities. If lazy pond fishing is your game, you are steps away from a very friendly bunch of sunfish for your kids to catch and release.

  • Our stay here was very nice. We had everything that we needed and it was nice to have access to firewood for the unexpectedly cold weekend! We also appreciated access to some games and videos, which came in very handy in the evenings since we're pretty much house-bound once my 2 year old was asleep for the night. The hosts were very quick to respond to any questions and we felt very welcome in their home. Would definitely stay here again!

  • Michael and Joan's unit had everything we needed to enjoy a great weekend. It is only a few minutes outside of Davis, is quite comfortable - with a nice deck, and has all of the same amenities you would have if you were at home. The property itself is only a short ride from Blackwater Falls State Park. Lastly, Michael and Joan were very accommodating and ready to answer any questions we had both in advance of and during our trip.

    Armand2014-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved this place! It was exactly what we needed to relax for a few days after our wedding. It was so quiet and peaceful, and we particularly enjoyed the deck because we could sit around the small fire pit while opening our gifts and cards, and our dog could be there with us off leash as well. The house has everything you need for your stay, and it's clean and comfortable. We would definitely recommend it to anyone, and hope to go back sometime.

    Sarah2015-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend at Michael and Joan's cozy cabin. If you want to spend some quality time with your family or friends, this is the place! Don't go expecting modern amenities, but do go for the charm of being close to nature and scaling back to basics - and there's a warm fireplace! Close to wonderful hiking trails and small restaurants in the towns of Thomas and Davis. Very close to a supermarket so you'll be able to stock up before you get to the cabin. The cabin is part of a small resort with a playground, mini golf and sports court if you need to work off some little ones' energy but none of this feels intrusive in any way. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you could need to cook (just bring fresh ingredients) and the bathroom/bedrooms have plenty of clean linens. The whole package was just what we needed - thank you Michael!

  • We had a great stay in Michael's cabin. He was very quick to respond and easy to work with. The cabin had an awesome deck with a beautiful view of the park within a nice community. We took advantage of the stocked kitchen and cooked ourselves some dinner. We had everything we needed and more. Location is perfect, close to both Davis and Thomas. We spent most of our time hiking around the nearby state parks. It was perfect. We didn't check out the pool or other amenities on site but did see others enjoying them. Would love to visit again in the winter for some skiing. We checked out both of the local breweries and enjoyed them very much. If you have a chance to stop by Blackwater Brewing, you'll get to meet the owner / brewmaster Lincoln. He's super friendly, smart and makes great beers. We really liked them all, especially the porter and the English pale ale. They sell stainless steel growlers to go. Mountain State Brewing sells glass growlers and six packs to go. They have live music and food on Saturday's, as well. Can't wait to visit again!

We really enjoyed the proximity to terrific outdoors activities and the towns of Thomas and Davis. The cabin was clean and cozy with a well stocked kitchen. Michael was kind enough to let us bring along our dog who had a blast. The deck is large and perfect for sitting outside and relaxing on a beautiful day! We hope to return sometime soon!

  • My husband and I had a lovely experience in Michael's cabin. It was the perfect place for us, very comfortable, clean and charming. The ideal hideaway. Michael was always very easy to reach. We kept communication with him, via emails, throughout our entire stay at the cabin, not that we had any issues; we just wanted to keep him posted of our satisfaction with the place at all times. The surroundings are beautiful and ski resorts are neat. Do not forget to visit White Grass. It is worth the visit! We went per Michael's suggestion and adored it. Thank you Michael for a memorable trip!

Expect the same level of service as our other place, Cottage at Rockymarsh. Guests appreciate the attention to detail, as well as the cozy cleanliness. See my tweets @GingerHankins for photos of this lovely area.
The cabin is on a paved road. Quiet, rural setting but convenient to all the amenities of Shepherdstown. On a road with farm land and lovely views of the mountains. Many vacation homes in the neighborhood.
  • This was my second stay at Knott Cabin and it was just as nice as the first. Clean, quiet, charming, and a wonderful soothing respite from the crowded DC area. Thanks to Ginger for being extra accommodating - I will definitely be back again.

  • This was my first time booking with Airbnb so I was a little nervous. Gingers cabin exceeded all of my expectations. It was so cute! And clean and comfortable. It was very easy to get in contact with Ginger before and during our stay. We will definitely be returning.

  • Ginger welcomed us to her home and offered us lovely recommendations. We had fun exploring the unique and historic towns of Shepherdstown and Harpers Ferry. It was a rainy weekend, but we enjoyed snuggling up in the comforts of this adorable cabin. We found scrabble and had a great evening in after picking up some yummy snacks from the local stores.

  • This cabin was exactly what my husband and I needed. Its was lovely and quiet. Ginger has thought of everything! It ten minutes from Downtown Shepherdstown , ten mines from Harper's Ferry and the tow path. We will definitely be back!

  • Ginger's cabin is a great place to stay. It is beautifully and comfortably decorated and the sheets smell wonderful. The Crabtree and Evelyn soaps, shampoos and lotions were a luxury. Fresh blueberries, OJ, Bagels and more for a lovely breakfast on the porch. Everything is there one could need (games, grill, books, magazines) for a memorable get away. She was very communicative and allowed early check in and late check out when possible.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Knott Cabin over New Year's eve! The cabin was nice and cozy, and all the breakfast treats were a really nice touch. We'll definitely be back!

  • We had a wonderful restful stay at Knott's Cabin. Our host Ginger was very helpful. The cabin was immaculately clean and well presented. The bed was extremely comfortable. There were coffee beans, milk, half-'n-half and a good coffee percolator provided. Air-conditioning in the bedroom; yoghurt, granola; fresh peaches laid on. Nearby Shepherdstown was a friendly and full of history. We cycled on the C&O Canal trail, visited Harper's Ferry and Antietam Battlefields and enjoyed the fantastic Potomac and Shannondoah River landscapes. All said, a very satisfying vacation.

The yurt is situated near the boundary of the Monongahela National Forest and just below the summit of Spruce Knob Mountain. During your stay here you can enjoy the plentiful opportunities of trout fishing, caving, hiking, or just relax on our scenic 400 acre campus. Access to a communal kitchen and shower facility included.
Our wooden yurt, named 'Tagdumbash' for its Mongolian roots, was constructed in the '70s and renovated last year. A full-sized bed provides room for two, although it has housed a few families on occasion. A skylight provides ambient light during the day and a beautiful view of the stars at night.

  • Staying at the Yurt with Experience Learning, Inc. was very unique! We loved the place we stayed. It was comfortable, quite spacious, clean, and you could even see the stars in the dark night through your Yurt's ceiling rounded-glass.

  • Awesome stay & place, as "wild and wonderful" as the West VA license plates suggest... truly a wonderful experience that I strongly recommend and hope to do again. Some good notes: Bring everything you want with you (food, books, fill up your gas tank prior), keep driving down the long dirt road- you'll find it ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) does pinpoint location/proximity, just download map prior), and just relax- enjoy the wonder of one of the disappearing remote places in the South. The shower/bathroom house is close, less than 50ft, and very lovely, and the bed in the little yurt is very comfortable. Since the elevation is high pack warmer than you would otherwise. The people are all kind and lovely. I truly loved it and have already recommended it many time.

    Cara2014-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • The host made sure we had directions on how to find them, and greeted us when we arrived. The yurt was quaint and perfect! The surrounding landscape is absolutely beautiful. We had a great stay here.

    Lauren2015-05-23T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend a stay in this yurt! The entire campus is beautiful, staff is friendly and helpful, the main building is a work of art, worth the drive for this experience!

  • Absolutely brilliant experience staying with The Mountain Institute. A wonderful getaway. The yurt was spotlessly clean, with bathroom and kitchen nearby, and yet also the feeling of being away in nature. Brad and Dave went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and we would love to come back in future.

    Austin2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • We were provided a tour of the Mountain Institute upon our arrival and the accommodations were exactly as described. The Gateway Restaurant is a great place to grab breakfast, lunch, or dinner during your stay. Would definitely return!

    John2015-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • A great location, you should definitely book a yurt here! The views, woods, and staff are all exceptional. The yurt is very comfy, it has electricity, a light, and a space heater. The bed and blankets were warm and comfy. The common space is wonderful, spend a weekend (or more) up there with a good book!

A short drive to fun art, spa, shopping, and restaurant-filled Berkeley Springs, Cacapon Park golf, lake, and trails, and White Tail ski slopes and tubing, the five-bedroom loghome is cozy, comfortable, secluded, and surrounded by wild trees, rocks, and nature.
Our log home is fairly new, comfortable, and exciting but also cozy and remote. It is on a West Virginia mountain in the midst of a wild and wonderful natural world with mountain springs, streams, wildflowers, and deer. From the house, you can see intense colors of fall leaves, lichen and snow on branches in winter, and 360-degree green in spring and summer. It has comforts of 21st century living - wireless 4G Internet, flat screen satellite TVs, DVD and Blue-Ray players, French door refrigerator, front loader washer and dryer, six-person hot tub. (Please acknowledge, though, that hot tub use is at your own risk and not covered by our insurance.) The kitchen is not huge but it's well equipped with coffeemaker, blender, food processor, rice cooker, toaster and toaster oven, and a range of useful and fun implements for cooking, for example, a food mill, cookie sheets, Bundt cake pans, cast iron skillets, and Revereware pots and pans in a range of sizes. Hike and explore the cliffs and forest along old logging roads near the house and then come back to a connected and comfortable world inside. At night, you can sit in a steaming hot tub on the screened porch and see tree leaves outside fluttering on the under-lit towering cliff rocks or from the large open top deck, watch the moon rise through the trees and stars come out overhead. Only three miles by car from the house, explore trails and streams, golf at a challenging championship golf course at 2300 feet, designed by golf course designer Robert Trent Jones Sr., ride horses, swim in a lake in summer, or enjoy a delicious breakfast or dinner at Cacapon State Park. Within twenty minutes, visit local artists, shop, and enjoy a spa treatment or massage in Berkeley Springs. Within forty minutes, shop at national-chain store in Winchester or an outlet mall in Hagerstown. Within an hour, downhill or cross-country ski, snow tube, or go fly fishing at Whitetail Resort ((URL HIDDEN) or whitewater rafting/tubing, and river paddling at Harper's Ferry, Paw Paw, Sideling Hill Creek, and other locations ((URL HIDDEN) The log house has two bedrooms on the main floor, both with double beds and a shared bathroom with a tub/shower. It has two bedrooms on the top floor, one large with a King bed, and the other with two twin beds, with a shared shower bathroom. On the lower level is a smaller bedroom with a queen-futon bedroom with a view of the 42-inch wall-mounted TV in the adjoining rec room and fold-out couch and pool table entertainment area with a half-bath. The house comfortably sleeps eight. The great-room area on the main level has a large, Flex-steel, reclining sectional sofa, flat-screen TV, and wood stove that heats most of the house in the winter along with the lower level radiant-heat floors. The house has AC for the summer. The garage and gravel driveway provide plenty of parking. Plenty of towels and paper products are on hand. Beds are made and extra pillows and blankets are tucked away in bedroom closets. Shampoo, lotion, and other toiletries are also provided for your convenience. Our log mountain home is a beautiful place to be part of wild and wonderful nature easily and quickly away from the noise, crowds, and commotion of city and suburban life but with the comfort and conveniences of modern life. Directions: 230 Breakaway Lane, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411: From the north (PA Turnpike/I70) watch for “Ridge” on a green sign about three miles south of Cacapon State Park as you drive on Rt. 522 about 9 miles south from Berkeley Springs, WV 25411. As soon as you see the sign, signal, slow down, and then turn right into a gravel parking area. At the north end past the mailboxes, follow the Breakneck Dr. gravel road up the mountain. Three times you’ll have to keep right or turn right. The gravel road is single lane and narrow, so please be slow and cautious. The last right onto Breakaway Lane comes soon after Breakeven Lane. As you go down the hill and then curve up the J-shaped Breakaway Lane, you’ll see the log cabin mountain house through the trees on the right side of the gravel road. The house number "230" is on a big rock on the right side of the road just after the red reflectors marking the driveway entrance. You can find this map using “Breakneck Lane Berkeley Spring, WV” in (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) (URL HIDDEN) (but not in (URL HIDDEN) You can click on "Guidebook" on the left panel of this screen to see the (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map.
The natural calm and quiet are unusually restful and renewing.
  • Amazing, amazing, amazing! Susan was an incredible host and her home was everything we were looking for. The house is a beautiful cabin up in the mountains. It's 10 minutes from Berkeley Springs and offers a beautiful private spot with ample opportunity for hiking and enjoying the outdoors. We had four couples and at non point ever felt crowded. Susan keeps the place in spotless condition and between the screened in porch, hot tub, fire pit and other outdoor seating areas there was plenty of options for relaxing. Susan her self was one of the best host I've ever worked with. Her communication was quick and thorough and she was amazingly generous and hospitable. Susan made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our weekend. We couldn't have asked for a better host or a more perfect accommodation. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a getaway and will definitely look to this location again.

  • Great cabin with all the amenities in a beautiful, secluded piece of forest. Easy to get to Cacapon State Park and Berkeley Springs, but just as easy to hide out in the woods and relax. In fall with no leaves on the trees, there's even a view from the second-floor deck. Susan was a thoughtful and attentive host, and I'd happily go back any time of year.

    Jeff2012-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Susan, the owner and hostess, was wonderful! We stayed in the cabin for 2 nights and actually were able to fully relax in such a short time due to Susan's fine sense of hospitality. The cabin was true to the pictures and described acurately. The snacks, milk, juice, etc. were a very nice touch and greatly appreciated. All of the communication between us and Susan was good and very helpful. The cabin was very secluded and very senic. Getting to town was very easy as well. We will be happy to return to experience a different season and get to fully enjoy the area some more in such a great place to stay in WVA.

  • Susan's home is located on a windy mountain road, perfectly situated on a rocky bluff. It was amazing to get away from it all, and relax in the country for a weekend. We were traveling with a group of ten friends, and we had plenty of space to relax and unwind. Unlike many sterile rental properties, Susan's home was very homey and came with linens, towels, and plenty of kitchenware. We hope to make it back some time soon!

  • The house and surrounding areas were beautiful, just like the pictures. My friends and I came for a relaxed bachelorette weekend and felt quite at home. Susan made sure the hot tub was warm for us when we arrived (very relaxing with the crisp weather outside!) and the checklist for the end of our stay was helpful in making sure we didn't forget anything. We really enjoyed the little details, like the chocolate by the couch, extra toothbrushes, and watching Jumanji!

    Jen2014-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place was absolutely perfect for our bachelorette weekend getaway from the city. The house was clean and ready for us (hot tub and heat!) and Susan made us feel welcome with sweet amenities. Staying here was like staying at a very nice hotel with necessities and toiletries available. The location is great amid beautiful trees and only a short drive to the Cacapon State Park, where we went hiking and horseback riding, and a Food Lion in Berkeley Springs for our grocery needs. Susan was very responsive via text and email, and provided detailed instructions for everything ahead of time. The only caveat would be there is a strong sulfur smell when the water has been running for a while (imagine 6 girls taking a shower one after the other), as mentioned in other reviews, but this goes away after a while so does not detract from the beauty and relaxation of the entire place. The house uses well water, so it's understandable. Again, the place was clean and beautiful, and each of us would go back and stay here again. Thank you Susan!

  • This Cabin/House is wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone that wanted to have a stay in a beautiful, rusting setting, but with all of the accouterments of modern living. The house is outfitted to cook up a storm - and that is what we did. We also hiked at Cacapon State Park which was beautiful - we did the Zilmer loop and did about 1,000 feet of climbing. We also had a couple of big bonfires, plus a fire in the wood stove indoors - which kept the cabin plenty warm. The hot tub speaks for itself. Susan was also a gracious host that left us some snacks in the fridge, as well as toothbrushes/paste etc. for people that had forgotten some of their toiletry items. It was really a perfect weekend and we couldn't have been happier. We definitely hope to return!

    Bryce2013-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • It was so fun staying at Susan's cabin this weekend in Berkeley Springs. Susan was an amazing host and left us all kinds of things for breakfast and snacks and the cabinets were well stocked with supplies for cooking and eating. We enjoyed hanging out by the wood-burning stove for most of the weekend and dogs had a great time romping around in the snow around the property. The house easily accommodate eight or 10 people looking for a relaxing weekend away. Susan even made sure that the hot tub would be up and running by the time we got there and it was absolutely perfect we can't wait to come back in the spring and enjoy hiking around the property! Susan's cabin in Berkeley Springs is absolutely the perfect place to go for a weekend with friends! She has everything you need, including extra snow shoes, games, books, and even archery equipment. Sheets and towels are provided too, freshly cleaned. Thank you Susan for being an outstanding host, we can't wait to come again to wild and wonderful WVa!

  • The area was very nice and quiet, we found the cabin easily and getting access to it was also easy. The cabin was very cozy with a very fun loft in the second floor. It had plenty of kitchenware, new pots and pans. Many towels and extra comforters. We could not have asked for more. I recommend it for all that want to explore the area. Michaels responded to our question timely and gave us some tips for the area, we went to the little town tomas on saturday night and found a place with great live music we had lots of fun.

  • Black Bear Resort was the perfect retreat in the mountains. The chalet was equipped with more than the essentials. Michael was very easy to get a hold of and very accommodating with a late checkout. Directions and instructions were very detailed and made arriving at night a breeze. We enjoyed the variety of movies and games he had in the cabin. We would love to stay here again! Highly recommend this cozy chalet if looking for a place to unwind and take in the beauty of the Wild and Wondeful West Virginia.

  • A good budget stay within short driving distance of two ski resorts. The cabin is small, but was a perfect fit for our family of four. It was especially cozy to have a wood burning fireplace.

  • Great place to spend the weekend. Black Bear Resort is great - pool and firepit were delightful after days spent hiking. I'd recommend Michael's cabin for a relaxing getaway.

  • The cabin was perfect for 2 people (although, we could have comfortably had a 3rd). The space was small, but it was completely sufficient for our needs. There are plenty of other cabins in the community, but we still felt like we were in the middle of nature. Michael was very responsive to our emails and sent us a long list of things to know before our trip.

    Ashley2015-01-04T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at Michael's cabin! It was clean and cozy...we especially enjoyed using the fireplace during our snowy visit. Loved exploring Seneca Rocks and Blackwater Falls too. A perfect getaway and it was wonderful to be able to bring our dogs. Thanks to Michael for his recommendations.. we really enjoyed the burrito place in Davis and TipTop coffee shop in Thomas.

Beautiful bedroom in a historic home with wood floors, two comfortable single beds and large shared bathroom. Must love dogs (albeit non-shedding). Less than two miles from downtown Charleston and the interstate in a safe, quiet, residential neighborhood. This is one of two bedrooms we rent out from our house.
The space includes two twin bed and a desk, dresser, and closet. Perfect for both long and short stays or as overflow from the double room.
The house is in a residential neighborhood on the West Side of Charleston. It is very safe, quiet and only two miles from downtown and the interstate.
  • This airbnb is amazing. I would not look for anywhere else to stay. The accomodations are so home like, quiet, clean, and will only book here as long as it is available.

  • Kara and Austin are Air B&B pros! Great coms and clear directions before arriving, which was appreciated because I knew I would be arriving later then expected. They have a very comfortable home atop a great overlook point of downtown Charleston (which was pretty cool seeing the next day). Accommodations were perfect for my one night stay. And they are both very kind and gracious hosts. Highly recommended for others considering this area!

There are spectacular views to the side of and in front of the MAIN cabin, which I hope you will take advantage of, particularly for the spectacular sunrise and late afternoon brilliant views of the valley, mountains and cow herd across the road. In the winter, you can see the winding Cacapon River that flows north and into the Potomac River. Don't hesitate to stroll around the front of the property and enjoy everything, including the sloping and sunny front field - perfect for a picnic or a night time view of the stars.
Peace and quiet and nature and hiking and kayaking and climbing and antiquing and swimming and sleeping and writing and painting and photography and watching the stars free of light pollution.
  • My husband and I stayed for the weekend at Vicki's place as an escape from the daily grind of work and surviving life with a toddler. It was a great place to rest and relax. We were happy to have the time to cook so we made all our meals in the cabin and the kitchen had everything we needed. It was a rainy & chilly weekend, but the space heaters Vicki provided kept us plenty warm. We had one issue with some of the outlets in the house not working. We told Vicki and she gave us an extension cord so that we could use the TV. But honestly we were so busy chatting and catching up on sleep that we never even needed it! If the weather had been nicer, we might have tried to do more outdoorsy things, but if you are looking for a quiet place to relax for a couple of days, the cabin is plenty of entertainment.

    Cathryn2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was a rustic dream retreat. It had all the basic amenities one would need while also being a welcome escape from excessive bustle & connectivity. Vicki was 100% available whenever I had a question, and offered lots of welcome suggestions and ideas for things to do and see nearby. The wi-fi was actually much better than advertised. The cabin is clean and cozy and comfortable.

    Nais2016-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Vicki was a great host. The cabin location provides access to the quaint town of Wardensville, plus a lot of great hiking destinations in Wolf Gap (the Big Schloss was great!). The cabin is very quiet and cozy, with lots of games, puzzles, and books available for free time. Wifi works great even though Verizon doesn't!

    Julie2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great rustic cabin. Exactly what we needed to unplug, relax and enjoy nature.

    Christal 2017-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Vicki communicated thoroughly with me prior to our arrival and had lots of great suggestions on things to do in the area. We didn't interact much during our stay but I know she was available for any questions/needs. The log cabin was perfect for our 2 night getaway. I would describe it as rustic/vintage, definitely with charm. Vicki's property is very quiet and peaceful. We were able to feel like we were disconnecting from the outside world, yet had our needed modern day amenities and the small town of Wardensville was a very short drive down the road with access to a few small cafes/restaurants, small grocery, brewery, etc. Almost literally across the road was a once monthly bluegrass concert held in a barn that we were able to attend as well. We hiked Big Schloss (about a 20-25 minute drive from the cabin) and there are many other trails and outdoor activities in the area. Great place to stay, beautiful scenery, and plenty to do!

    Esther2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was fantastic. It was secluded, very spacious and had all the amenities we needed - we especially enjoyed watching some of the old videos. The location was great - within a short driving distance of several parks. We never met Vicki, but all our queries were promptly answered through Airbnb and check in and out were very straight forward. We would love to return.

    anne2016-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Simple, but nice cabin was a great getaway from city life on our anniversary. Convenient to get to several hikes and small towns. Our only wish would have been if the kitchen was stocked with a couple essentials (oil, sugar, etc), but we managed just fine.

    Aditya2016-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin in really like a little house with a kitchen that includes a full-size gas range, microwave and fridge. It was larger than I expected. Books, magazines, games, puzzles are in the living room. Bathroom is on the main floor while the upstairs loft area is one room with two twin beds and a third bed of two twin beds pushed together. A window ac unit keeps the place cool. There is carpet throughout. Nearby Wardensville offers groceries, coffee, other necessities. If you stay here, you have to visit the Lost River Trading Post and the Wardensville Farm Market and Bakery. So awesome! Overall, it was a nice quiet place to get some alone time while my kid was at a nearby summer camp. I'd definitely go back.

Only 90 miles from DC (2 hours). The house is situated at the end of a 3 mile private road on the top of a mountain (only house). Stay and hang the whole time or go out and enjoy great restaurants and sites. A relaxing and private retreat with view.
The house is mostly made up of windows. The view is amazing and we built the house to be able to see it from almost every room. A cook's kitchen, multiple hanging out areas, and hundreds of wooded acres to explore. The large deck overlooks the valley below. 6 cleared acres of rugged meadow and the rest wooded. 4 total bedrooms and 5 total beds: 2 bedrooms with full sized beds, 1 master with a queen bed, and another bedroom with 2 twin beds (Trundle). Total of 3 bathrooms - 2 with soaking tubs and 1 other full bathroom. One guest had a hard time finding the 5th bed - it is located under the 4th - a trundle. The master bedroom has its own bathroom and shower and an amazing view of the sunrise. 2 living rooms and 1 dining room. The dining room table has six chairs; there are 8 additional chairs in the bedroom closet off of kitchen (recently added) if needed. We also have a charcoal grill and large coffee maker (recently added by popular demand). We have 8 adirondack chairs (recently added); we have a table and two chairs on the upper deck.
Historic Berkeley Springs, WV, featuring natural hot spring baths frequented by George Washington, is 45 mins away. 30 minutes away is arty town of Shepherdstown, WV. Both offer restaurants and shopping, and are perfect day trips if you can pull yourself away from the natural beauty surrounding you. We love the restaurant 'Domestic' in Shepherdstown ((website hidden)). Martinsburg, WV is 10 minutes away, featuring a great little organic restaurant (Good Natured Market and Organic Cafe), grocery store, and other amenities.
  • I booked this cabin as a surprise Christmas present for my parents- it was wonderful! There were six adults and several dogs and it never seemed crowded because of the beautiful open, modern floor plan. My father has ALS and much difficulty navigating steps/uneven surfaces but the first floor had a bedroom (with incredible windows) attached bath and wood floors throughout. We were able to drive right up to the front porch and help him up the few steps into the cabin. Kyle was very quick to respond to any inquiries and gave the best directions. He was awesome to work with such a large family group and multiple dogs, making our weekend away fabulous. I would note: the road up is very steep and we battled intense fog. FWD wouldn't be a bad idea if any inclement weather is predicted.

  • This property is stunning. I was looking for a secluded place to decompress and enjoy an mountain view, I got way more than I expected for. The house is stylish and modern, making a guest feel warm both and comfortable. I spent hours on the deck taking in the sun and reading, then moving inside to the super comfortable sofa(s). The master bedroom will reward you with brilliant sunrise views that will make all your friends (and Instagram followers) gawk. All of the furnishings and the kitchen are modern and in excellent condition. Making for lovely meals inside at the lovely dining room or by the three beautiful fire pits. You will not regret your stay here! I will be back.

  • Kyle was great with communicating before during and after our stay. Timely and informative. Beautiful views. Recommend arriving before sunset and driving slowly on the one lane road leading to the house, we had a deer jump out and try to surprise us. Just be cautious and you'll be good to go. Well stocked kitchen. A nice get away if your looking to leave the city behind for a few days. Thanks kyle!

  • This was a great place for Thanksgiving. We had 11 people stay, and we enjoyed the hot tub, cable to watch football, and checking out the local sites (Blackwater Falls) and activities (tube sledding at Canaan Resort). There are four twin beds and three queen beds as well as a fold out leather sofa. We were all very comfortable, especially with the large decks. Check-in and out was easy, and the host responded quickly each time we needed to communicate. I would definitely rent this place again. Of note is there is not a bedroom on the main level.

  • Dean was great host. From the moment we arrived we felt welcome He recommended a good restaurant, and told us about the Heritage Mountain Festival, so it was a great weekend! We met some of his friends and neighbors and all of his pets. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had coffee and fresh muffins for breakfast. We will definitely come back!

  • Best Airbnb find ever! Perfect location, Dean and Steve were super welcoming and great hosts! Location is pretty much on the Appalachian trail and there are great views from the balcony. Will be hard for my wife and I to find a better stay here on air bnb. Highly recommended!

  • Dean was great, and the house was charming and wonderful! He told us it's history - built in 1836 and owned at one point by a newly freed slave. The town is so quaint and pretty and the house was too. We arrived hot and exhausted from hiking in the Appalachian and Dean gave us cold waters as soon as he took one look at us!

Quiet country setting with no neighbors and a huge 4 bedroom house with games and toys ... very much like gandma's house with modern amenities. Fire pit, charcoal grill, porch swing, fruit trees like apples, berries and grapes.
Fly fish the fabulous Elk River and its back fork then come back to your stunning mountain cabin to crystal clean air and the best-tasting spring water on earth, and mountain-top views set within a gorgeous hardwood forest on 18 acres with no fencing. Lumber companies conveniently left a great 1 mile gravel road from the main highway 15 and the surrounding virgin forest creates utter privacy. Summer sightings include deer and fawns, squirrels, birds and fields of butterflies. When our children were young they'd roof-watch the wildlife that didn't come into the clearing, and the on-site blueberries in summer and apples in the fall ensure bear and cub sightings nearby. Only 45 minutes to Snow Shoe for high life, or about the same from Elkins. Wander the West Virginia-priced (inexpensive) antique shops with terrific finds, or find some weekend mountain music at the many heritage weekends, where relations near and far visit for a town family reunion. Remind yourself and the kids how life was ''back when.'' The cabin (called a ''camp'' in the mountains) was lovingly hand-crafted from 26 kinds of timber by a master carpenter. There is central air, radiant heating if you'd rather, a grill and smoker, unlimited hard line calls, a new television with satellite, a washer/dryer/microwave, games, and plenty of books for reading during your stay.
We have one vacation neighbor besides the logging land that surrounds us.
  • Just as described. Comfy and cozy. Very secluded and plenty of room to stretch out. The porch swing was my favorite feature, as it looks out over the mountain.

  • Such a beautiful, comfortable and clean place to stay. It was even better in person than the description or the pictures made it out to be. And that bed was so comfortable! Jackie thought of everything to make the stay so great! There were plenty of toiletries just in case you forgot something. The fridge was stocked with food and goodies for breakfast. The kitchen was stocked with all of the basics for cooking. If you aren't wanting to cook, the town center is an easy walk away with some great eating options. It was an easy drive to both Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown. It was a great home, and we hope we get a chance to stay there again!

She is even kind enough to stock the home with little things such as coffee and cereal. The bathroom provided linens and travel size soaps which really came in handy for us. We will be returning for sure!

  • Our group of 6 had a wonderful time at Skyview. The massive fireplace was a great part of the experience, especially when the weather turned cold and rainy. The roads around the house are no joke, but certainly don't require a 4x4. My 20 year old Corolla was able to make it up and down all the hills without a problem. Jeffrey was very attentive when we had questions about the local area. Overall the house was beautiful, nearby hiking was plentiful, and our group was able to thoroughly enjoy our weekend getaway.

  • The place is amazing and very well equipped. The view is spectactular and the house is more secluded than the drive there makes it seem. The basement is huge, much bigger than in the pictures and the kitchen has most things you'd need to cook a large meal or 2 for your guests. Jeffrey was very quick to respond if we had a question. Overall an excellent time and we would definitely come back!

  • My friends and I had a wonderful stay at Jeffrey’s house tucked away in the hills. It was such a perfect ladies getaway weekend spot, from the big windows in the family room overlooking the valley to the spacious, open kitchen which was perfect for collectively prepping meals. Jeffrey was such a great host, sending us pro-tips about the safest route up to the house (make sure you're in a car that can handle some backroads!) and going above and beyond with a baking pan request to ensure that we would have a really special weekend. Thanks again, Jeffrey!

Secluded log home in West Virginia - exposed white pine log beams, nice view of surrounding mountains, large fire pit, 3 bedroom 2 bath (sleeps up to 10), beautiful great room with gas fireplace. The Lost River area has several attractions for weekend visitors.
The full-length front porch is a very enjoyable space to gaze across the mountain and down to the two spring-fed ponds. House has easy access to the George Washington National Forest, and features a large in-ground fire pit to gather around. Approx. 2,300 square feet and sits on 9 acres. 1st bedroom has a queen bed, 2nd bedroom has 2 twin beds, 3rd upstairs bedroom also has 2 twin beds. For larger groups 2 roll-away beds are in the basement, and 2 cots with mattresses are in the open loft - see photos. Please note: There is no cell reception or wifi at the cabin. We have a landline telephone you can use if needed; nearby Wardensville has good cell reception and a shop with wifi. The great room is the main attraction with comfortable couches, a dining area, big screen TV w/ DVD player (no cable), and gas fireplace. Kitchen is stocked with essential staples and available for cooking - stove, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and plenty of space in freezer and fridge. The dining area is next to the kitchen. One bath on main floor (hairdryer, clean towels & sheets provided), 2nd bath is downstairs (concrete floor walkout basement). Utility room with washer and dryer also downstairs. We have central heating and A/C. Outside has a large front yard leading down to the ponds, a fire pit, and a charcoal grill for guests to use. Our family has owned this as a vacation home for the last eleven years and enjoy our extended weekend trips to our cabin. We live in Baltimore and nearby in the Shenandoah Valley of VA. The cabin is located 2 hours from DC. *The Neighborhood* Cabin is in a small neighborhood with lots of wooded area between homes. George Washington National Forest trail entrance is located within walking distance, ~400 yards away. The closest small town is Wardensville, WV located 9 miles away, with shops and a few restaurants - we recommend the Lost River Brewing Company. Swimming (white-sand beach) is available at the Trout Pond Recreational Area (2.5 miles from cabin), which also includes lakeside trails, fishing, and a children's playground. Please note: our neighborhood trash cans are at the entrance to our road, not beside the house. So at the end of your trip we do ask that you carry your trash bags to the can.
  • I'm so glad we found this cabin in Lost River! Andrew was great, he responded promptly to my many questions and they were gracious hosts. They were flexible with check in and out which is great when you have 5 little kids to get in and/or out. We went with our family and two others and it was perfect. The cabin set up was nice and there was plenty for us to do. We especially loved the fire pit! When it comes to packing it was so nice to not have to worry about sheets and lots of the other things that Andrew provides in his cabin. You really felt at home there. We loved taking the kids to Trout Pond (recommended by Andrew) and spent most of our time there. We also went in to town to the brewery. All the info provided prior to our trip really helped us plan our activities and make the most of our trip. Thanks so much for the use of your wonderful cabin and for the many memories we were able to make over the 4th of July weekend with our family and friends!

Cabin was very clean and well equipped for the weekend. Rained a lot but covered porches made hanging outside fun. Left condiments and cleaning supplies as well some bottled water and food for future visitors. Appreciate the hospitality and the gift that was left, highly recommend!

  • The cabin was the perfect place for our getaway. Definitely big enough to comfortably fit our large group. Well equipped kitchen, large and comfortable family room, and the perfect yard for grilling, making a fire, and spending time outdoors. There was nothing that we needed that wasn't provided. I would definitely recommend this house for a vacation.

  • Andrew was very prompt and helpful answering any/all of our questions. He sent amazing literature about the cabin, its contents, what you need to bring and the surrounding area prior to our visit. It's an awesome get away to unplug and just enjoy the company of your family/friends for a weekend.

    Jack2015-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Due to an illness we couldn't take advantage of this beautiful cabin. Andrew was extremely understanding and bent over-backwards to make sure we were taken care of. Can't wait till we can actually try this cabin out for real.

Fully renovated 1930 craftsman bungalow, only 1 mile from Interstate 64, 2 miles from Charleston's historic downtown shops, restaurants & clubs and 1 block from the bus line. My quiet, middle class neighborhood is improving as old homes are being remodeled or torn down. Have more than 2 people? The house can accommodate up to 4 guests. A second bedroom is available. Contact me for more information.
Perfect for business or pleasure trips. Also great for families with children. I have two bedrooms available, one with a queen bed, the other with a queen futon. Each bedroom rents for $50. They share a bathroom that is just steps away. There is also an additional bathroom that is in the rear of the house.
My home is located in a quiet middle class neighborhood on Charleston's west side, with many great neighbors, including professionals, craftspeople, artists and musicians. It is a transitioning area with a few homes in need of work. There is a wonderful Greek restaurant, Mexican place and rib joint a few blocks away, all locally owned. Many more choices can be found in the downtown area. We are just 10 blocks from the river where there is a walking/biking trail. 3/4 mile from the Kroger's grocery store and 3 blocks from a convenience store.
  • I enjoyed staying at Marylin's home again while traveling for work. I love her decorations & like the layout of the kitchen - super easy for storing and preparing food. This time I got to meet some of her nice neighbors and noticed the really nice fountain across the street. I would recommend staying at Marylin's house if you are traveling for work or looking to explore the capital city.

  • I enjoyed my stay with Marilyn who was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions on where to visit and eat. She even drive me to the amtrak station in the morning which was enormously helpful given the quality of the taxi service in town. I would recommend her place without hesitation

  • We had a lovely stay at Marylin's. Her home was very well-maintained, with nice, welcoming furnishings. We slept soundly and comfortably in our room. We did not run into Marylin during our visit, but she checked in regularly to see if we needed anything. Definitely recommended!

  • This was the perfect spot for a quiet and relaxing getaway! The description and pictures of the space were spot on and everything was very clean and well kept. James, the host, was responsive, friendly and very welcoming. An easy drive from the hiking in Harpers Ferry and the shops and dining is Sheperdstown, I would recommend this listing to anyone.

    Jamie2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place was exactly what I was looking for–a modern/rustic secluded space for some much needed R&R. I loved exploring around the area and neighboring towns, and found it to be incredibly beautiful everywhere I went. James and Alix live onsite and were very communicative over text, and made sure I found the house when I arrived at night and had everything I needed during my stay. I felt safe knowing they were nearby in a territory I was unfamiliar with (as I was traveling alone). I only stayed for two nights but wish I could have stayed longer. Feel super lucky to have come across this Airbnb, would definitely stay here again. All you need is a good book and bottle of wine to make your trip complete :)

  • My mom and I met up for her birthday and so appreciated having the two separate sleeping areas. The room with the fireplace was cozy and comfortable and the single bed was also comfy. There are no curtains on the windows, which didn't bother me, but some guests may feel uncomfortable with that. It took us some searching (and a message to the hosts) to find the thermostat to control temperature, but there is one! The live-in caretaker, George, gave us lots of history on the property, which was fascinating. One other item of note is that there was a hunter on the property the weekend we were there, so we didn't feel safe walking around. I was disappointed to not be able to explore the woods and trails on site.

    Julie2016-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great stay at the Rockdale Farm! Check in and check out was really easy and it was very well stocked with toiletries.

    Marco2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • The space was exactly as promised - private, beautiful and serene. They were there when we arrived and told us a little about the house and land. The room was just as presented - clean and fully furnished along with a private bathroom. The only thing I wish was that we could have stayed longer! Thank y'all for sharing your beautiful space and hope to return and for longer.

  • We couldn't be more pleased with our stay at Judy's. We were stuck in traffic and got to her place 3 hours later than we expected and Kevin stayed up to meet us. Judy was out of town and we didn't get to meet her, but had great communication with her. The room and bathroom were really clean with two nice sets of towels. They had water for us and had a Keurig, so we could have a cup of coffee before we left in the morning. Their place was just as described and the bed was really comfortable. There was a TV in the room but we just went straight to bed and didn't use it. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area and needed a place to stay.

  • Judy was a fantastic host. She welcomed me into her home with her 3 little dogs and one cat. The cat seems to believe that it is a dog as well which is very cute to watch. The bed was comfortable and I had a bathroom to myself. The wifi worked and everything was as listed. I was very happy with my experience and would gladly stay at Judy's again.

  • Judy was fantastic! It was a wonderful place to stay, and I had a great time talking with Judy in the morning before I left. She was very welcoming and accommodating. Great for if you love dogs, or even if you don't, the dogs are very well behaved.

  • Judy & Kevin were wonderful, their hospitality warm and engaging, and their Pug Brigade ADORABLE. I have to admit, as much as i loved their pugs, I developed an instant love affair with their kitty Chester. He'll forever hold a special place in my heart. Aside from that, our stay was such a pleasure. Great conversation, pleasant accommodations, and COFFEE at the READY :) They and their pets were beyond welcoming of my own little Shi Tzu (though my pup was a lil jealous of Chester, ha!). Our room was clean & cozy~ a pleasant retreat after a long day. I can't thank you guys enough for your perfect hospitality. I'll be back in town the same time next year, and I'll definitely look for you again! CHEERS!

Beautiful bedroom in a historic home with wood floors, comfortable mattress and large shared bathroom. Must love dogs (albeit non-shedding). Less than two miles from downtown Charleston and the interstate in a safe, quiet, residential neighborhood. This is one of two bedrooms we rent out from our house.
This room has beautiful large windows and wood floors. The double bed is very comfortable. A vanity and closet are available for your use. For longer stays a dresser is available.
The house is in a residential neighborhood on the west side. It is about 2 miles from downtown Charleston and is very quiet and safe.
  • Kara and Austin's place is in a quiet residential area with easy access to the freeway for those driving through. Although I wasn't there very long, they were welcoming and accommodating of my arrival schedule. Cute dogs a plus!

  • Kara & Austin's home is beautiful, and the room was just lovely. Bed and pillows were comfy with plenty of warm blankets. Large bathroom and great kitchen. My favorite part was their dogs--two medium-sized poodles who barely barked and who loved getting petted! I was allowed to adjust the A/C, and there was a fan in the double bed room just in case. I'm looking forward to staying again!

  • We had such a lovely time this past weekend staying in this private efficiency apartment. It was just what my boyfriend and I were looking for and more in a quick weekend getaway for a bit of history and relaxation. Butch has done a wonderful job in this space, it is lovely and comfortable! He provided us with maps of the area and just a delightful stay. As a first time user I was extremely happy with my experience and thankful of Butch's patience! We would opt to stay in this beautiful, private apartment the next time we make our way to West Virginia. Thank you again!

The apartment was very clean and private - a great place to stay if you're doing some hiking in the Charles Town or Harpers Ferry area (15 min. drive to Harpers Ferry). The apartment is on a quiet street and a 5 min. drive to a bunch of restaurants in the area.

All of our needs were met in every way and you couldn't ask for better hosts than Butch and his lovely wife. We are new to using airbnb and were thrilled with this find. We highly recommend this airbnb property!

  • I am almost reluctant to post about how perfect Mai-Li's cabin is because I want it to remain a secret! The cabin is a fantastic, quiet, charming weekend getaway from DC. My family loved roaming the woods, fishing the creek, reading on the many porches, and my canine best friend had a blast romping through the creek and woods. Mai-Li was a perfect host (and Bean loved the dog treats)! We can't wait to return.

    Elaina2014-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this private and lovely little cabin in the woods! Our dog enjoyed the dog treats that were left as well as exploring the surrounding woods. Our four year old daughter enjoyed playing on the lovely deck while we took in the peaceful views and sipped wine. A perfect first getaway after our son's birth in January. (He slept through the night at the cabin so I'm already wanting to go back!) Overall a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of DC. The cabin was clean and well stocked. We booked last minute and Mai-Li was very accommodating and even let us check in a bit early.

This is a cozy cabin tucked in the small community of Slatyfork farm WV. Snowshoe mtn Ski resort is a 15 min drive. You can see the western territory from the cabin. Please note the cabin is on the side of a mountain. The 1 mile up from the main road is not meant for a car. Some people park their car at bottom of the mountain and walk up. However, 4 wheel drive is best. In a heavy snowstorm, tire chains are great to have.
