Appena prenotato a Weaverville

This is a real but restored and enhanced miner's cabin that offers a dog-friendly, wonderful setting with 2 beds mere feet from the scenic Trinity River. The river rock landing with fire pit/BBQ is a nature lover's dream come true. Fish right there, or wade to the riffles. Sharp-eyed guests spot the resident bald eagles and river otters. Midsummer-late fall, watch huge salmon spawn just a few feet from the landing. Ask about 3+ night discounts.
The Miner's in one word: enchanting. It is a tiny jewel of a place located just a few feet from the Trinity River. It's pet-friendly, has world class but challenging fishing right outside your door and exquisite river and mountain views. As soon as it was available, we upgraded to a fast and unlimited internet supplier (fall/2017). The Miner's Landing is a fabulous river rock patio with a fire pit & BBQ grill right next to the river. What beats a fire and watching the stars in the night sky? Occasionally we approve a fourth guest who can bring a sleeping bag and sleep on a (provided) sleeping pad, but this is a small cabin and best enjoyed by 2-3. Minimalist cooking facilities, but there is a sink, convection/toaster oven, microwave, deep electric skillet and Farberware single-cup coffee maker with coffee pods and creamers included. There is a cool clock with mood lighting and nature sounds; you can plug your phone or pad into it to stream music. AIR does not have a way to add lodging tax, which is 5% of just the lodging fee. We are dog-friendly with friendly dogs. There is a $15 charge per dog, per stay. Both the tax and pet fee may be paid when here. We have multiple night discounts for 3 or more nights, and we offer quiet season rates after Presidents Day Weekend and before Memorial Day Weekend, so your quote may change if your dates are far enough in the future. If you send a request, we'll send an accurate quote back to you. Some of our parties have brought cast iron cookware and cooked on the fire pit/BBQ or their own tabletop Weber down on the landing. We were invited to drop in on one of them and visited while he fried gorgeous potatoes in cast iron over an open fire. He patiently turned each herb-seasoned chunk as we caught up with their travels. They had just spent a month in Europe, mostly Paris and some of Italy, but were anxious to return to the Miner's beside the river. BBQ on the landing, or bring a camp stove and cook on the landing (please not in cabin; we have limited emergency response resources up here and a fire could be devastating). We have gas and Weber BBQs up on the main patio between Alpen Glow & Carriage House. There is cookware, dining ware and serving ware. Dorm-sized refrigerator has a separate freezer for that all-essential pint of Ben & Jerry's, plus we supply a huge cooler with frozen water jugs to keep it cool. The bathroom features a roomy shower with the toilet in it (like you see on some boats and in some trailers). We are always upgrading our cabins. We paved the main drive and put in a large parking lot at the entrance that's great for boats and vehicles, but Miner's guests have their own parking close to the cabin. All of our Steel Bridge cabins are Wi-Fi and late 2017 saw a switch to a fast and unlimited carrier. Yippee! Time to unplug and recharge? You really are going to love this place.
River, mountains, trees, sky, river otters, occasional bald eagles, osprey and in the fall, you can watch salmon spawn from the cabin or landing.
  • Heidi and Steph were great and went out of their way to make sure our stay was enjoyable. The Cabin is exactly as described and the river beautiful as well. There is some vehicle noise during the day but subsides in the evening. Overall a great stay!

  • My wife and I had 2 beautiful days up in the Miner's Cabin and enjoyed them very much. The setting is verdant and peaceful (aside from the highway noise at times), with birds chirping and frogs calling and the river serenely passing by beside us. The accommodations are minimalist but adequate (very comfortable temperature, hot water worked well, decent mattress), a little worn down and "rustic" in terms of furnishings, especially for the price. But we both appreciated Heidi's attention to detail, such as providing head lamps, fire-making supplies, and a very useful guide to area businesses and restaurants.

  • We felt very welcome Heidi is the best

  • This place is a little slice of heaven. The location is perfectly situated on the river. We took a 5 hour rafting trip, and the best part was being able to land right in front of the cabin, hop out on our little island, play in the water and munch blackberries. The cabin itself is cozy and I felt very at home. The beds were comfy, and you can see the stars from the loft bed while listening to the river. I would definitely come back!

  • Heidi and Steph were fantastic hosts. The instructions for getting to and in the cabin were easy to follow, even coming up late at night from SF. They were also super accommodating and booked us in a different cabin so we could stay an extra night. Miner's cabin is awesome - the view, the fire pit and the river were just so relaxing and one of a kind. We had a great time just hanging out on the porch, fishing, drinking and relaxing. It was almost like camping but with a heater and a bed and a fridge. Our dog loved it too! The kitchen is small and doesn't have a stove or oven, but we were able to make a killer dinner with the crock pot with prior planning. You can also use the fire pit for outdoor cooking. One last important point: the beds here are super comfortable, some of the best I have slept in for this price point.

  • My boyfriend and I wanted to get away from the city for my birthday along with our pup. We saw Heidi's posting and booked for 3 nights. We asked if it was okay to arrive later than the usual checkin time and were accommodated completely. What a beautiful drive from the city! Upon arrival we were so excited to see the cabin and had no trouble locating it based on the instructions from Heidi and Steph. The inside of the cabin was clean and cozy, and wow, what amazing views we had. We picked up some food for the weekend from the health food. market a few miles away and brought it back that night. The next few mornings we woke up early and had our coffee from the keurig they provided on the back porch facing the river. Our pup enjoyed every minute of our stay and slept happily after tiring herself out every night from all the sights, sounds, and smells. Being artists, we spent most of our time drawing outside in front of the river and listened to music which was a dream come true for us. We drove into the nearby town Weaverville (where the supermarket is) after checking out on our last day and loved going into the odd shops and antique stores (You have to check out "Curiosity Shop"!!) and everyone was so friendly and treated us like we were family, not something you get to experience too often with strangers living in the city. We were sad to leave but felt rejuvenated and stress free at the end of our stay. Not only did we have an amazing time but we have since been talking about moving out to the area!!

  • Heidi and Steph were extremely welcoming. Since we were coming in late, they called me to makes sure I was clear on directions which was much appreciated. The cabin is compact, but lovely and my friends and I were quite comfortable for the night. Loved having my morning coffee on the balcony overlooking the river! My dog had a great time, too, playing on the lawn and exploring with the other 2 visiting dogs.

  • This was an excellent stay! We spent Christmas on the river and received a beautiful white Christmas when it snowed! Our dog loved exploring the property with us. Heidi and Steph were very easy to communicate with and even stopped by on Christmas eve to give us a delicious treat that we gobbled up within a day it was soooo good. They also gifted us with a very cute and touching personalized item. The bed was super comfortable and we enjoyed seeing deer roaming across the river. The place was very comfortable and heated well. The cabin was very clean upon arrival and we enjoyed spending time in nature. Weaverville was very close by for groceries. Thank you Heidi and Steph for making our Christmas memorable.

  • We checked into Debbie’s bungalow around 7pm. It had just snowed so the scenery was beautiful. It’s a little bit of a drive through the mountains to the stay, and because it was wintertime and snowing, I was glad to have 4wd in my truck. Once to our destination, we noticed the heat and lights had been left on inside for us. The place is very clean and neatly arranged. My GF and I took advantage of the stove and utensils and made homemade chicken noodle soup while sipping wine and enjoying the winter feels. We had everything and more that we needed in the kitchen to prepare our meal. The bed was very comfortable. There was a hot tub around the back, off the main house that Debbie gives you permission to use. It was a great way to wake up with coffee in the morning. Soaking In the hot tub looking at the snow capped mountains while getting your caffeine on never felt so good! We will be coming back soon! Thanks Debbie.

My cabin has sun-kissed decks, comfortable outdoor sitting areas, propane BBQ grill & back deck fire pit. The cabin's location is private and only one short block to the riverfront, close to public recreational areas and several charming cities, with surprisingly great restaurants. With all the comforts of home, guests have access to use of a telephone, washer/dryer, Wi-Fi, DVDs, games, books, a flat screen TV, rafts and bikes. The lower level RV site can also be booked for $30/night.
The master bedroom has a very comfy queen bed, double closet, office space, lots of natural light and views of wooded areas. The second room has a twin bed and a double bed, a small cafe bar and stools and a washer/dryer area. For larger groups, there is a queen size easy self-inflating air mattress, a full-sized couch and matching loveseat in the living room. Information and brochures are provided about fishing, kayaking, recreation and other area attractions in the cabin for guest access. Amenities include: washer/dryer, telephone, DISH TV, board games, books, high chair for toddlers, single yoga mat & block, 2 bikes, a small kids pool, 2 inner tubes and 2 rafts for lake/river summertime use, 4 swim noodles, and an extra standing fan. The cabin is heated and cooled with an efficient mini-split heating/air conditioning system in the master bedroom and living room, and ceiling fans are in the living room and master bedroom. The floor fan can be placed anywhere if needed. The cabin is located in a very quiet and private area in Poker Bar secluded in the trees. It's a perfect place to get away, 'unplug' from the daily grind, enjoy serenity, relax and enjoy the beauty and many recreation opportunities of the Trinity River and surrounding lakes. The area is also great for hiking or biking, fishing, kayaking, swimming, rafting, and visiting Lewiston, Douglas City and Weaverville downtown and outer area historic features (several dams) and Whiskeytown, Trinity and Lewiston Lakes. The local communities hold annual craft fairs, holiday events, great Trinity Farmers' Markets (Weaverville's is on Wednesdays from 4-7 PM and Hayfork's is on Fridays from 4-7PM. Both are from mid-May through mid-October. Also, hosted Weaverville Art Walks are held the first weekends of the month and the Trinity Performing Arts Council has amazing classical musical, comedy and theater performances throughout the year. The area is also close to skiing at Mt. Shasta Ski Park and Oregon Mountain.
The neighborhood is a mix of locals and Bay Area retirees who live or visit their second homes in Poker Bar. You'll see lots of wildlife! Please go the speed limits posted on the roads and on Hwy 299, respect the land and the river, be safe and have fun! It's fun to bike/walk up and down Reo Lane, Bridge Road, and Poker Bar West (public road even though there are signs) and swim in the area lakes or just hike around. You can kayak all along any part of the river, and ask me if you would like to schedule rentals. It's best to use larger rafts on the river and inner tubes on the lakes, so be safe--For novice rafters, the high river water is sometimes fast with brush and tree limbs to avoid from the higher flows. Whiskeytown Lake is about 18 miles to the east on Hwy 299. It's a little warmer water than the other lakes and simply beautiful for swimming, picnicking, boating, boarding, rafting, kayaking and inter-tubing. Trinity Lake and Lewiston Lake are equally beautiful.
  • Lisa was very nice to deal with. Very inviting little oasis. Clean and comfortable.

    Amy2016-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa is extremely helpful & responsive. Her place is easily accessible yet peacefully secluded. Beautiful area with a wonderful place to stay.

  • The home was very clean and well stocked.

  • This place was fabulous and super comfortable during the end of summer heat! Its a great place for a small family or couple who want the comforts of a home set among the pines, heat, and wide open spaces. A super cozy deck and semi shade in the trees creates a nice place to relax, rest, eat, play board games or stare at the awesome night sky. The river is close by, as well as Lewiston Lake and Whiskeytown Lake not to mention the stunning Trinity Alps. Lisa was prompt and thorough with all communication and even included personal tips as to where to shop, dine, hike, and swim. Will definitely be coming back to relax and use as a base camp for any further adventures.

    Trevor2017-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for a place that is off the beaten path and close to the river, this is the place. The Cabin in the Woods is a cozy little place, perfect for 2-3 people. If you are an avid fly fisherman, this place makes for a great base camp. Its walking distance to the Trinity river and close to all the local fishing holes. It was very clean, well kept, and the tap water is better than any store bought drinking water. I will certainly be back again!

    David2016-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's cabin was just so wonderful! My bf and I stayed for a few days to disconnect and relax and it was absolutely perfect for that. The cabin was spacious, clean, and it was just so cozy and inviting. The kitchen is fully stocked with absolutely everything we needed and the patio and deck were just perfect for drinking coffee and lounging in the mornings. The bathroom was also well stocked and there were quite a few board games in the living room and we actually spent a whole night just playing them all! Highly recommend and can't wait to stay here again in the future! Thank you Lisa!

Our place is close to downtown Weaverville, art and culture, family-friendly activities, restaurants and dining, great views, Trinity Lake and Trinity River, and the Historic Joss House. Our home is quiet and peaceful yet close to town. The beds are comfy, the kitchen is roomy, and the yard is huge. Weaver Creek runs through the back of the property. It is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families. ****YOU SPOKE AND WE LISTENED! We now have Wi-Fi!
The house is about 1400 sf. It has a living room and a family room. There is a shaded front porch with Adirondack chairs for lounging, and there is a patio with electric bbq and an umbrella table with chairs for eating al fresco. There is no internet available at the house.
  • Our family was very pleased with the house, especially since the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed to be able to cook. We had a great time.

    Maya2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • First off Dawn responded immediately and made sure we were taken care off. The house is close to town and we loved the fireplace room to hang out in. I had just what I needed to make breakfast for the family, plenty of towels, very clean and the decorations add a nice touch. Rooms are equally comfortable and the living room was very comfy. As others have mentioned a bazillion DVDs if you get bored. The caretaker during check in was so nice and made us feel comfortable. Nice quiet block and friendly neighbors too. We would come back anytime. Thanks Dawn for everything.

    John2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • We so enjoyed our stay at Dawn's place. It is such a cute comfortable home and decorated so nicely with all the thoughtful things you'll need. Our family stayed with myself, my wife, and our two older teenage sons. The location is close to downtown on a quiet street. It was a perfect return from our backpacking in the Trinity Alps and bookended our rafting on the Trinity River. Two favorite things were the table to have meals outside and TV and video tapes to watch some fun old movies (like Indiana Jones).

    Duncan2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great stay at this house while my dad and I were fishing the Trinity River. Check in was easy, the house was clean, and the kerosene heater kept us warm on the cold nights. The property is about a mile from downtown Weaverville where there are restaurants. Would stay there again!

    James2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • This home is very clean, comfortable and charming in a very relaxing environment. The children enjoyed seeing the deer roaming around at night and morning. Though there is no wifi, Dawn has a selection of videos and books to entertain yourself, if you chose to do so. Communicating with Dawn and the house caretaker was easy. I would consider staying here again in the future.

    Maricela 2017-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Loved our stay in this cute house close to downtown weaverville. I did fun morning walk/runs on the trail just down the street up to a great view spot. Quiet at night, great bed. Hiking in trinity alps is worldclass. I want to do it again soon!

    Dorothy2017-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect jumping off spot before backpacking out into the Trinity Alps. Great location, not far from the main highway. Comfy beds and a hot shower!

    Suzy2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was a charming little home and town. Dawn was communicative and helpful. My favorite part: The two bedrooms are equally comfortable and well-furnished, so there was no issue of having to assign a "nicer" room to one of us, as we'd done in earlier stays on this trip.

  • I had a great stay at Colleen's roughing it cabin. Close to trinity river fishing and trinity alps hiking.

    Jonathan2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures didn't do the place justice. Quaint cabin with beautiful scenery. The description accurately describes the lifestyle: outdoor toilet, solar heated shower, butane stove. It's a perfect mid-point between camping and staying in a lodge.

    Zeve2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time there. We did kayak around the river, just awesome. Warm welcoming, cottage was pretty and not commun. Everything we needed was there. If you looking for a quiet and relaxing stay, here you have to go!

    Laetitia & Jean-Cyril2015-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • The "Rough It Cabin": We enjoyed our stay at the "Rough It" Cabin. The cabin itself is very simple but great if you're looking for something a bit fancier than camping. The memory foam bed is FANTASTIC - super comfortable and cozy with a nice window that lets in the morning light. We used the one-burner stove inside for heating water and basic one-pot meals. The interior solar lights worked great. The solar shower worked fairly well. The limitation is when the sun is at the right angle - the only times the water was warm enough between 2-5pm in the afternoon (in April, mind you). The composting toilet made for an interesting experience as well. One thing to note: the solar shower provides the only running water at the cabin itself and it comes straight from the river so it needs to be boiled or treated before drinking. Colleen was great about letting us access her house to fill up the occasional water jug, use her bathroom, etc. The "Kitchen Cabana": There's a two-burner "Camp Chef" stove and a mini-fridge about a 5-minute walk down the hill to the "Kitchen Cabana," which has a lovely view of the river. The Cabana also has an "on demand" hot water shower if the solar shower at the "Rough It" cabin isn't working. Note: The "Rough It" cabin doesn't pick up a strong Wifi signal so the best place on the property to get a wireless connection is outside the Cabana. Lewiston & the surrounding area: The property is right on the Trinity River. We didn't do any whitewater boating while staying at Colleen's but we saw a number of happy paddlers making their way downriver. It's about a 10-15 minute drive to Lake Lewiston where you can kayak, canoe, go fishing, etc. There are also nice, quiet running and hiking trails further afield - about a 30-40 minute drive to the best ones. Lewiston is very small - just a market or two and a post office. Weaverville is about a 20-minute drive away with some restaurants, a health food store and big supermarket, a couple of nice cafes, a ranger station, etc. We would have liked not having to get in our car so often but oh well. Overall, this was a great deal considering the low price (t mind the occasional episode of water going out unexpectedly, not having 24/7 access to internet, etc.

    Caitlin2015-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recccomend "Roughing It"! This is a great spot if you want some quiet time. Colleen is a wonderful host. Keep in mind, this IS roughing it. Bring a sleeping bag to stay warm etc. You are kind of heading to Thoreau's cabin. It's fantastic!

    Steve2017-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for three nights and really enjoyed everything about it. Colleen and her family were sincere, sweet and kind hosts. The introduction to the place was wonderful and we felt very welcome. Accurate to description, my partner and I both were readily prepared for outdoor camping. We just needed a few nights with a bit more shelter and this was the perfect combination of some supplies, like a burner and foam mattress to sleep, while also providing us with a lot of quiet, peace and outdoor solitude. Bring your own food, water, sleeping bags. Essentially be prepared for camping, and you'll enjoy and appreciate the small extra amenities like even a warm shower. Great place to recharge and relax near the Trinity lakes and alps area.

    Daniels2016-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Colleen Thank you so much for a wonderfull stay!We loved your off grid cabin and will def be back to visit! You were so warm and welcoming to us and we really appreciate it!

  • Colleen was incredibly accommodating throughout the booking process. She welcomed us and gave us a tour of the property. Our stay was fantastic! The cabin is private up on a hill and had basic amenities - you should pack as if you're going camping. Had a comfortable bed and great views of the night sky. Would highly recommend Colleen and this cabin!

The Pine Cone Cottage is one of three separate cottage room in at River Rock Gardens. It features a queen bed with a wonderful view of the gardens through French doors. It has a small bathroom w/shower. The kitchen area has a microwave, Keurig coffee maker, toaster and small refrigerator. The kitchen is NOT set up for any kind of major cooking - Please plan accordingly. There is just the one room, with a love seat, small table with two chairs and room to hang clothes.
The pool is heated from mid-May to mid-September. We are sorry, but we do not accept pets. The Lewiston Animal Clinic does board dogs and cats. It is about 2 miles from our home. We do not rent to pot smokers as the odor remains on clothing and then lingers in the rooms after they leave, which is not fair to the next guests.
  • Lovey little cottage with everything we needed. The grounds were so beautiful and peaceful I wish I could of spent more time there

  • Katie and Mel were fantastic hosts! The property and gardens were absolutely incredible! The pictures don't do this place justice. Everything was much nicer than I had anticipated. They gave us some good recommendations for places to go and things to see in the area, and even gave us a complimentary bottle of wine for switching our room to the pool house cottage. You will not be disappointed here. We had a great time! Thanks again!

In addition, she was well prepared for any guest that was staying with her. She had a kitchen full of things, bathroom full of any emergency needs, and a immaculate place to stay! • The cabin is in a fantastic location. We were surprised every morning by the many deer hanging around outside. You can sit on the deck and watch the fishing guides float by with their clients, but it is more fun to get out on the water and give it a try. The cabin is charming, spacious, and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I hope to visit again soon.

  • This cabin is amazing! Main room is very large, very homey and comfortable The 2 bedrooms have comfy beds, plenty of blankets and heaters work well for colder days Situation on the river is amazing, neighborhood is very quiet and close to town We cooked every evening and the kitchen is fully furnished with plenty of dishes, utensils, and new appliances The pellet stove is a great alternative to a fireplace, less messy and perfect for a few hours to chat around a warm flame Just a heads up, no cell service and internet on the slower side in case one need to work there for a few days, but that’s to be expected in a remote cabin All in all we had an amazing stay, and would recommend to anyone looking to spend some quality outdoor time with a very comfy indoor experience

  • Outstanding location on the river, Kodiak our Chocolate Lab says best vacation stay ever! Enjoyed the rear deck river view & wildlife.

The Garden Room is one of three unique separate cottages on our property. It features a queen bed and a trundle (2 twins) sleeping a family of 4. It has a small kitchen with a microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee maker and small refrigerator. It is not designed for full cooking...more for snacks. We do not provide much in the way of cooking equipment. No smoking. No pets.
The attached bathroom has a shower (no bathtub), sink and toilet. The sink is also used for washing your dishes and a tub is provided for that. French doors allow a beautiful view into the front gardens. The Garden Cottage is located just a few feet away from the pool. Parking is located just past a nearby gate.
  • Katie checked with us enroute to make sure we'd find the place - even had signs with my name - so nice. The place was beyond the description ... So cozy, clean, comfortable, and adorable ... And Katie spent time sharing about her beautiful home and how they got to Lewiston. It was great getting to know her. We had a wonderful tine.!

    Chris and Maria2016-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • The Garden Room at River Rock Cottages was the perfect get away for much needed R&R. Katie and Mel are kind and attentive hosts - giving us tips for places to eat (Cafe at Indian Creek -yum!) and things to see in the area. The cottage was spacious, the bed and linen were luxurious, and the shower, though small, had great water pressure/hot water. I cold have (and did) spend hours sitting in the garden watching the river and wildlife. So many stars at night, so much beauty. Heaven!

    Amy2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic! That one word describes our experience at River Rock Gardens. Hosts Katie and Mel are wonderful. They have a genuine desire to see their quests thoroughly enjoy their stay. Originally from the Bay area, after nearly 2 decades they have become vital members of the community in both service and hospitality. Having just moved to California from North Carolina my wife and I left inspired to use their example as our model in our newly adopted city. The property is positively beautiful--large and fully landscaped. On the Trinity River outside Lewiston, you couldn't ask for a more tranquil setting. Gardens, gardens and more gardens offer a diversity of flora that left us in awe. Our stay was over Labor Day weekend and both red raspberries and 3 varieties of apples were ripe for the picking--and we did! So many apples in fact that we made a delicious pie upon returning home. Sit down by the river or beside one of the Koi ponds and the sound of water can't help but nourish your soul. Sit there long enough and the local family of deer will likely come through grazing. We had them as close at 10 feet...they are surprisingly at peace around people on the property. When thinking about the property description I would say it understates what is offered. The cabins are well appointed, clean and well maintained. These aren't cookie-cutter hotel rooms. Each has its own personality and unique set of charms to commend them. In our experience River Rock Gardens brings an attention to the details that set it above most other places we've stayed. Final thoughts: the neighborhood is just like River Rock Gardens. Rural, tranquil and in harmony with its natural surroundings. It was a little too cool to use the pool but it was clean and in great condition--just like the rest of the place. The beds were quite comfortable. Fantastic! That seems to cover it all. We're definitely going back.

    Clark2015-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was beautiful and relaxing. The place was right on the water, which was perfect. Katie welcomed us and made sure we had everything we needed.

    Kate and Kevin2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Wow! Do not overlook staying at Katie's. The gardens are amazing, the pool was refreshing and the zip-line was a special treat! My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return. It was exactly the peace and tranquility we were looking for.

    Amy2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • My 4-day stay with Katie and Mel was truly fantastic ! ! This has been the absolutely best airbnb experience that I've had from among quite a number of previous ones. The spacious room is exactly as pictured, private, and spotlessly clean. The bed is comfortable for wonderful deep sleeps after a day of activity. The extensive gardens are awe-inspiring and the view of the Trinity River from the gardens is breathtaking. Katie thinks of everything. If you forgot something--you can be pretty sure she's thought of it and has made it available for you. The location of the property is convenient for great hiking in this green, green, green forested landscape. Katie and Mel are such warm and welcoming people that you will feel right at home on this "drop-dead" gorgeous property. I made 2 new friends in this beautiful part of the northern California. This stay is genuinely a home away from home. I will certainly return again ! !

    Maureen2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This the best Airbnb we've stayed at by far! Katie and Mel are truly amazing and generous hosts - room and bathroom is huge and well-appointed, there's a wonderful pool, and the grounds of the place are gorgeous! A first-class garden that is lovingly maintained with a fish pond and waterfall, and a beautiful lawn that's at the edge of the Trinity River. We had an amazing time picnicking and watching folks float by on their rafts and inner tubes. And we had a great time sharing a glass of wine with Katie and Mel in the evening. The pictures in the ad don't do justice to the place. Adding to the magic is the wildlife: exotic birds and butterflies, and deer lounging peacefully on the grounds, lying under trees, blinking at you as you take their picture. It's a great experience overall that I wouldn't hesitate to anybody who's looking for a real bargain in the Trinity Alps area. Pounce on it!

    James2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Katie sent detailed directions before the weekend and warned me about the road construction en route. She met me in town and let me to her place when I arrived after dark. Upon arrival, she even offered me an upgrade. She and Mel invited me over for a glass of wine and a nice visit. The property is beautiful; the accommodations are very comfortable and nicely appropriated. I had an excellent time and look forward to returning

Sow's Ear is a friendly, comfortable home base across the river from Bucktail put-in. 1 minute walk to the Trinity River, end of the road serenity, full use of our river frontage & hot tub. Just added a new, super-comfortable North Woods couch and chair and they just make the living room. Full laundry, cozy woodstove & furnace. Linens, towels, cleaning supplies, firewood all included. Great covered front porch that's popular year-round affords a bit of a river view and lovely river sounds.
Sow's Ear is priced for 6 guests. We will consider 2 more guests, but there is an extra fee for them. The 5% lodging tax and pet fees ($15 per dog, if approved) aren't accommodated in AIR's set-up, so we will bill separately for them. Rates are subject to change for holidays and weekly discounts do not apply July through August 15th. Sow's Ear is a wonderful, pet-friendly, easy-access cabin at the end of the road, less than a minute's walk to the Trinity, with full use of our 600+ feet of shoreline, the hot tub overlooking the river and the hammered copper fire pit overlooking the river. It is easy to get to (just 3 miles from 299) and incredibly quiet. All you hear is the river along with crickets, frogs and birds. There is great hiking right outside your door. This cabin has 3 full bedrooms and two baths. The master bedroom has a handcrafted queen log bed, private bath with shower and sliders out to the honeysuckle-draped porch. The second bedroom has a handmade double log bed. The third bedroom is completely paneled in soft tongue and groove cedar; it has a queen mahogany sleigh bed, plus substantially made stacked bunk beds with extra headroom below to accommodate an adult. The second bath has a tub with shower. There is a very pretty oak dining table with 1 leaf to accommodate 6-8 guests; a really good wood stove (wood provided); a Monitor heater; central A\C and heat, too. It has a delightful, covered front porch with wicker furniture and plants. Year-round, guests sit out there. It has a bit of a river view, plus you hear the river in the two front bedrooms, living room and porch. There is lots of room for fishing gear, including boats and trailers. Large gas BBQ and a Weber BBQ. Small outdoor dining set. Plus, just down the drive a short distance, full use of our patio over the river with dining set and fire pit. A hammock next to the river and comfy chairs and benches are sprinkled around on the river patio, which we encourage guests to treat as theirs. Fish, swim and play with your dogs. Deer wander throughout Bucktail, our little community. It's not unusual to look out and see them grazing in the yard. Superb hiking on trails as well as a hard dirt road with almost zero traffic. We do welcome well-behaved dogs and have a pet fee of $15 per dog, per stay. The pet fee can be paid when you're here along with lodging tax. Let your dogs roam free. Bring your mountain bikes so you can keep up. All bedding, linens, towels, soaps and laundry needs are included. 1 roll of paper towels is provided so if you use a lot, bring a lot. There is a washer and dryer in Sow's Ear and the full kitchen has everything you could need. If not, we will loan it to you! The Smart TV has Netflix and Amazon Prime. Both offer an astounding array of movies and TV shows and make binge-watching a series very easy. For charging your phone or tablet as well as playing your tunes, there is an iHome clock with great nature sounds and mood light options. The master bedroom also has a Bose CD radio, so bring your music! We offer kayak, raft, cataraft and stand up paddleboard (SUP) rentals, lessons and guided trips. Our guided kayak trips include a thorough lesson before departure. We are very good at teaching and supply everything you need. The river has gentle meanders with some mild but still fun rapids; or you can paddle on Lewiston Lake, which is also stunning (wonderful birding: great blue herons, bald eagles, golden eagles, osprey & more; we often see them on our river trips, too). We prefer Lewiston Lake to Trinity Lake because it has a 10 MPH speed limit, resulting in a peaceful place to SUP, kayak with kids and dogs, and fish. All raft trips on the river are guided by us, but you can rent a raft for lake use, too. We rent wonderful inflatable SUPs that you can carry in their backpack in a very small vehicle, then pump up at the lake. Our hard boards offer even more options for you! Pristine, stream-fed ponds just a few miles away provide warmer water than the river for swimming, and are a nice option for families with small kids. All of our lessons are tailored to the individual and we are very good at this, never pushing you beyond your comfort zone, yet showing you how to expand it with our help. Michael Caranci of The Fly Shop in Redding says of our cabins: 'For sheer seclusion, access, and cozy, comfortable accommodations, the cabins at the Trinity River Adventure Inn are certainly among the best.'
Bucktail is a delightful little community and kids and dogs can roam around safely. Deer wander through the yard daily. Hike right outside your door! Choose one of the easy hikes through Bucktail and over to the other side of the river, or for a more strenuous hike, guests can follow deer trails next to Sow's Ear, or follow very lightly-traveled Browns Mountain Road, which is hard-packed dirt, up into the mountains for miles.
  • We really loved the house and Heidi and Stephen were really warm and welcoming. Their spot on the river is beautiful and tranquil and I wish we had more time to enjoy that aspect of the property.

    Kelly2016-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • We (5 adults, 1 toddler, 2 dogs) had a wonderful stay at Sow's Ear! The location is beautiful and there are so many places to explore nearby. I recommend you check the Trinity River Adventure Inn site for more information.

  • We had a fantastic weekend staying at Sow's Ear! The cabin was cozy, warm, and surrounded by beautiful nature. While there, we meandered down the road to a beautiful nature walk where our pup could run free; we were also able to walk steps from the house to great fishing in the Trinity River. The area surrounding the cabin is unbelievable! Whether you're an avid fisherman or just a nature enthusiast, you'll find endless areas to explore within a short radius of Lewiston. Heidi and Steph were delightful hosts! They had the wood stove going for our arrival, and they even brought us rejuvenating minerals to use in the hot tub. From the small directions posted around the house to the nice decorations, it is clear that they put effort into making everyone's stay in their cabin comfortable. We definitely hope to stay at Sow's Ear again in the future! Thanks for a wonderful, rejuvenating weekend! :-)

    Nina2016-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Steph were ideal hosts. Excellent, prompt communication. We wanted privacy - we got it. House was fantastic. Everything we needed for a quiet retreat in a beautiful location. The porch got a workout, we spent nearly all our time sitting out there relaxing and chatting. We will be repeat guests for sure.

    James2015-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi and Steph were absolutely great! They worked with me to find the right cabin for the days I was available and even convinced me to come up a night early!! Their place was clean and cozy, perfect for what I was looking for on my weekend getaway. I was able to enjoy nearby hiking trails and spend quality time reading on the porch with my pup! The description of the place is spot on and it's easy to find with their directions (even in the dark).. I would definitely recommend this place to a friend and I hope to come back myself!!

    Shannon2013-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable place that has all the kitchen amenities needed for a long weekend away from it all. Netflix streams well if you need it but we sat on the porch for most of our entertainment listening to the river and watching the abundance of deer walk the property. The cabin is located in a quiet neighborhood of 20+ homes and very quiet and a perfect place for dogs. Lewiston is a small community with limited groceries so be prepared to pack your food in and gas up before you head up the mountain.

    Stacy2017-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Heidi & Steph already had a fire burning in the wood stove, warming the entire cabin, upon our arrival. It was a great place for our family + pup. The river and surrounding area made getting outside easy and enjoyable. The kitchen had all the basics you would need to do some good cooking. Beds were warm and comfortable. Hot tub is just a hop down the driveway to the river and is quite large & comfortable, definitely recommend. Hiking in the hills behind the cabins was fun - trails are not well-marked though, but there are two fire / dirt roads nearby that lead to some great hiking. Internet is spotty, but works ok for email and small updates. Overall, had a great time.

    Robert2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet neighborhood and great views of the river are close by! Fully stocked kitchen and laundry made it convenient for packing light. Kids loved the bunk bed. Heidi was great at communicating with us, even though we booked last minute.

Often we see wildlife right on the property and it is a beautiful site to see. Once we were enjoying an evening on the deck with family and a group of 7 bucks came walking by. Yes, it was amazing! The living space features tall vaulted ceilings, a couch and two overstuffed chairs with ottomans, a gas fireplace, a 60 inch LCD Tv with DVD player (please bring or rent movies at the local general store in Lewiston) and many large windows for natural lighting. Also overlooks the exquisite deck the wraps half way around the cabin. The Kitchen shows off its beautiful granite counter tops and hardwood flooring. There is stainless steel appliances including the fridge (brand new, may not show in photos) gas stove, the trash compactor, the dish washer and the microwave. All amenities, including pots and pans, baking items, cookie sheets, plates, cups, mugs, forks, spoons, knives, a grater, a chopper, a coffee maker, a blender, cutting board, storage containers (please do not take home), foil and cleaning supplies. The kitchen also features plenty of space in the pantry cabinets. Enjoy these amenities by bringing your food and dining in. Plus, you get to enjoy the beautiful log dining table we made ourselves with live edges and our own custom design. The kitchen opens up into the living room and dining area. The Dining room and Living room can lead you to the Deck on the second story. The deck offers a fun and relaxing atmosphere. We have arranged an outdoor seating area with a comfortable love seat, two chairs and a coffee table along with a separate table and chairs for enjoying meals, coffee, games etc. The stairs leading up to the deck from outside the cabin can often be slippery, please use caution. Please do not wear your studded wading (fishing) boots on the deck. The Master bedroom is located on the 3rd story and has a Posterpedic CalKing mattress. It also features two leather chairs for reading, chatting and relaxing with a cup of tea. There is plenty of storage with a dresser and long closets to hang your clothing/gear. Please note: we may have some things in the closets. The master bedroom has a large bathroom with two sinks, an oversized 'open' shower and beautiful tub. The toilet is separated by a door. The middle bedroom has a Queen size bed with fun fishing decor. It features two large windows and a walk in closet (here you will find two twin air mattresses). It also has a chest dresser as well as an overstuffed leather chair for you to enjoy. The first story has a separate room that has two queen beds and can sleep four comfortably. New flooring and two large windows. Please note, we are mid updating so some of the baseboards are not finished yet and some odds and ends. Outside the room you will find a private toilet, a shower with just a glass door for privacy but please note, it is open, a sink with storage and a fully equipped laundry room. This can also act as the 'Mud Room' by entering in from the garage. The garage will likely have a boat in it along with some fishing gear and items for the cabin. Please let us know if you expect to need the space in the garage. The property is beautiful and often times you will see wildlife. Please keep it tidy as sometimes it can bring in that wildlife. The property is about 1 acre of level ground and the other 1.5 acres is on steep terrain. Please stay on the flat piece surrounding and up to the private roads. Plenty of room to play outdoor games and for entertainment. The water comes from a well and we had it tested for safe drinking. It is safe to drink, however, we recommend bringing up water for drinking but totally up to you.
The cabin is nestled in the country on 2.5 acres. There are neighbors around. Please expect to be quiet by 10pm. This is a private area so the neighboring homes love the peace of nature and its surroundings.
  • This location was great for us - we hiked Lewistown Lake, played in Trinity River, did white water rafting (about hour west), and rented a boat on Whiskeytown Lake (about 1/2 hour east). There is a little store near by and a couple restaurants. We did visit Weaverville to visit the grocery and see a movie. Bring a cooler if you are heading out (super hot) as you need lots of water and ice.

  • We will be back to this amazing tri-level cabin retreat in the quiet and scenic woods - We have to tell you that the pictures do not do justice to the beauty and awesome location of this cabin - Plus, the place has everything you need minus the food, libations and drinks - The Host's Michelle and Arron are Rock Stars at providing quick responses with effective communication. We needed to communicate several times with them and they got right back to us, that was so important to us - We love them and thier place - Close to Trinity Lake and River, Weaverville and the surrounding area of great mountains and trails as we did it all - When it comes to relaxing here it is super quiet, peaceful and easy to make this place your own home for your stay...lots of friendly wild life walking around too, so many (Website hidden by Airbnb) wife loved them - This place is a 5 STAR must rent and stay!!!

  • This was the best cabin I ever been too and the cleanest cabin ever nothing is not outdated everything updated and the house you wouldn't want to miss it so much space and the sight of nature is the best part thanks again for having us

  • Michelle and Aaron were great hosts. We appreciated how easy it was to communicate with them about our stay at the cabin. The cabin was very clean and well stocked with everything you may need throughout the home. We especially loved the updated kitchen and the laundry room. After a full day of being out doors it was a great bonus to be able to clean your clothing so easily. The balcony was also a lovely feature and they even provided a bbq, an out door dining space, and cute insect repellent candles! Overall the cabin was very cozy and comfortable, yet still quite spacious. We really enjoyed our time here.

    Jasmine2016-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and very quiet! We loved being able to unplug for a few days and there was plenty of room for everyone (4 adults and 4 kids)!

    V2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect house for a two day fishing trip

    Wendy2016-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • The hosts are awesome! Michelle communicates quickly and tries to meet every need. The house was beautiful and had all the necessities for our trip, away from home. It was very clean and organized. Lewiston doesn't have cell reception (spotty), but we actually enjoyed it. The water is from a well, so it does come out discolored and smells like pennies. Be sure to check for spiders, you are in the woods and they are hard to keep out. The weather and scenery were beautiful in July. Our stay was awesome and we will be back again! If you are looking for a home for your trip, this is the place!! We can not say enough good things about their home and our trip.

    Savannha 2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect, luxurious, and lovely place! It was an amazing stay. They had everything you need to cook with: a BBQ grill, a crock-pot, blender, coffee machine, stovetop espresso maker, stovetop kettle (sanitize water for drinking), all kinds of pots and pans, dishes, silver ware... etc. The water is from a well so it smells and tastes like iron, but we brought our own Brita filter, and it solved all the problems with the water (the water is safe, it just smells of iron.) There is wireless internet as well, it works perfectly. However, if you are going to stream movies, it will lag (unless you're using Netflix, which adjusts the resolution according to internet speed.) The hosts are very responsive and tried to help us with any problems we had. They prepared a binder at the cabin, it is very professional and has ALL the information you'll need staying at Lewiston. The cabin is beautiful and very comfortable, the scenery around is beautiful as well, there is a river nearby and the water is very clean. You can see people down there playing during the day. My family loved staying here and had a great time! They didn't want to leave by the end of the trip!

The large Bunkhouse is one of three separate cottages at River Rock Gardens. It is ideal for a family or close friends. The main room has two adult sized bunk beds, though the top bunks should be used for smaller or younger folks. There are just sleeping bags for bedding on the top bunks. The separate bedroom has a queen bed and a bathroom with a shower. There is a half bath just out the door between the bunk beds. No WiFi or cell service at the Bunkhouse. Sorry, no pets.
The Bunkhouse is located at the rear of a large garage. One large room houses the two bunkbeds, fireplace, TV, and mini kitchen. The kitchen has a full sized refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, Keurig coffee maker and toaster. It does NOT have a cook top or oven. We are not allowed to have those per building codes. There is a charcoal BBQ just outside the door. Please note that we are not set up for major full on cooking! The separate bedroom has a toilet room, shower and sink and we have added a half bath in the attached garage just out the door between the bunk beds.
There are two hybrid wolf-dogs that live across the river and can be heard howling off and on during the day. Their owners are very considerate about keeping them quiet at night as their howling carries a long ways!
  • Katie an Mel are over the top. Their hospitality made you instantly feel part of the family. The cottage was clean, cozy and comfotable. The grounds were an endless botanical garden. The fall colors along the river were breathtaking. I would love to see the place in the spring! I will be back!

  • This was our 4th or 5th time staying in the bunk house at Katie Quinn's and was just as enjoyable as the previous times. For us the location couldn't be better as it is within easy driving distance to our family, the river and lake. The bunk house is in a private location but within a short stroll to the river front where there is a deck for relaxing and enjoying the wildlife and tranquil setting. The kitchen is well equipped with a microwave, full size refrigerator, pod style coffee maker, dishes, coffee mugs, wine glasses etc. If you are going to be in the area and need a place to stay I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Katie Quinn's!

  • Katie was a great host! When we had a snafu getting in later than expected she came out to meet us & showed us the way in. We couldn't have been more grateful!

  • Dear Katie and Mel, Thank you both for making us feel at home. What a beautiful property. Your place is like heaven on earth. Our room was clean, comfortable and more than we expected. We enjoyed our evening talking with you and Mel on the veranda. What an inspiring view of the Trinity River, so relaxing. You both went far above and beyond to make our stay memorable. From the reservation you made for us at Indian Creek Cafe (great place to eat, really good food), to making our kayak trip down the river possible (what a great river to kayak), we thank you so much. Katie and Mel, five stars all the way. We will be back. Thank you again, Barry and Marie

  • This was a great place for my family to stay (3 of us). Great location, beautiful scenery. The house was very clean. It had a small kitchen and living area. I would definitely stay again!

  • Katie's place is located right in the heart of Trinity Shasta forest. If you love the sound of river, bird chirping and leaves fluttering, you would love this place. We stayed here for two nights in the bunk house and we loved it. All wood interior of the bunk house was so lovely that we picked an idea or two for our future home. The property itself has beautiful trees and in the back you can walk to the river where there is a dock and a wooden porch swing. We spent a late afternoon just on the swing doing nothing. Was blissful. Katie as a host was wonderful. She showed us around the property which they have beautifully catered. I cannot recommend this place enough. We would love to go back.

  • Place was clean and our host was very nice and helpful. We came to a nice warm cabin for a winter fishing get away. I caught an amazing steelhead and the river wasn't far away. I'm already planning my next trip to the Trinity!

    CHris2016-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Katie and Mel's bunk house. They made everything simple for us from the beginning through the end of our stay. The bunk house itself was even better than pictured. It was very clean, stocked with the items we needed, and quite cute! We hope to stay here again in the future!

This truly beautiful house with swimming pool is situated on the Trinity River. Catch a Steelhead from the backyard (if that's your thing)! Or, relax by the pool, take swims in the pool, and go down to the river for a dip as well. Perfect location to explore all of the hiking trails and to go to visit Trinity Lake for more fun! And, the historic village of Weaverville is a nice destination for ice cream, shops, and restaurants. Beautiful woodwork throughout the house - wonderful & relaxing!
There is a large screened porch with a nice dining area. Pool is great. The property is right on the river too!
House has neighbors but is very privateBeautiful quiet neighborhood of river homes - most are vacation homes.
  • A beautiful home. Perfect for families who just want to unplug. It had everything we needed and it's gorgeous and in a beautiful spot. My kids thoroughly enjoyed the pool!!!

  • The layout of the house if perfectly designed. The screened in porch was an unexpected welcome touch. Lots of shade at all times of the day to escape the heat. An amazing summer get away.

    Marisa2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, tranquil, scenic getaway. Perfect place to unwind and enjoy the trinity river and surroundings while hanging on to those creature comforts. Tastefully decorated, modern-rustic charm. Loved the pine wood paneling, the pool and the views. All the trees kept it cool even on hot summer days! Spotted lots of deer, many colorful birds, a hare, a weasel, and a fox!

    Rohit2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Gus's place is wonderful, one of the best places to stay. It has everything you need from the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, and pool towels. Very clean place. Pool was clean as well. I forgot freezer bags, but Gus's place had them. The neighborhood was noise free, only the sound of birds and wind. Strongly recommended.

This spacious and elegant cabin with 30' ceilings is ideal for fishing groups, families and everyone else who is looking for a wonderful spot in nature where they can explore & unwind. It features 2 unique sleeping lofts and one traditional bedroom, 2 baths, a large and well-appointed kitchen, big living room and a laundry/mud room. Fast, UNLIMITED Wi-Fi added Fall 2017.
Alpen Glow is a wonderful, pet-friendly cabin that has an extraordinary deck overlooking the river. The railings are see-through with stainless steel cable horizontals to optimize the view. The huge kitchen is fully appointed. Pretty much, if it doesn't have it, you don't need it. There is a large pantry with many basics. There is dining for 8-10 (if approved; Alpen Glow is priced for up to 7 guests). The large living room has 30-foot ceilings, an electric fireplace that provides pleasant heat and is stunning to watch, an extensive library, flat panel TV with Dish TV and DVD player with a large library of movies. The very large leather sectional features a recliner and a comfortable hide-a-bed, so extra guests can sleep there and not on the futon in the master loft, which gives everyone more privacy. Alpen Glow has Wi-Fi, cable TV and a (shared) land line phone with free long distance. Wi-Fi has been a stumbling block for us here because we've had limited suppliers and options but Fall 2017 we finally got access to unlimited fast streaming and we jumped immediately. The cabin has all kinds of sleeping areas, including two lofts (one is an enormous master loft with a CalKing bed and in-room Jacuzzi tub. Its closets are so large, we even put a twin bed in one of them). There is one traditional bedroom with a queen bed and a twin bed and the leather sectional in the living room has a queen hide-a-bed in it as well as room for another sleeper on the other side of the couch. Yes, it is THAT big! More details below: The lofts are open, but do not look on each other. The spacious Master Loft has a California King log bed with an organic memory foam topper, wood stove, Jacuzzi tub in room (not an outdoor hot tub; a bathing tub), queen futon and a private bath (toilet & shower; double vanity). The River Loft log bed looks out over the river, mountains and sky. The traditional bedroom on the main floor has a handsome wrought iron queen bed with pillowtop mattress and a twin bed. There's a mud room that's great for drying gear. The mud room has an additional pantry, washer and dryer, plus a deep sink. Alpen Glow has an enormous deck overlooking the Trinity River, mountains and trees. Year-round, this is a favored spot for guests. There is a shared BBQ patio on the upriver side of Alpen Glow, but the majority of the cabin focuses on the river and guests rarely see other cabins' guests unless they go out of their way. Birdsong is so abundant, it boggles the mind. There is salmon and trout fishing at the cabin, plus a swimming hole. Wonderful ponds nearby are warmer than the river in summer, and fun for calm water swimming and playing with your dogs. A log swing and comfy chairs are all around the 1.15 acre lot that is shared by 2 other cabins, each unique in its own right and private from each other, but close enough you can rent all for a large group, as many family reunions in summer and fishing groups in winter do. There are no other properties on the Trinity River that equal this location. It really does have everything.
Nothing beats staying right on the river, whether you fish, swim, play in it with your dogs, or just want to sit and look at it burbling past.
  • The space is beautiful, and the swimming hole is great! All at an extremely reasonable price. Heidi and Steph were both very sweet and accommodating - Heidi called to check in and make sure we were settled when we got there. This is a great space for family retreats, but maybe not so much for couples - the loft is a giant open shared space, so there's not much privacy. My pooch was delighted to run around in the yard and river! Thank you for the dog towels :)

    Valerie2014-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice house about 10-15 minutes drive to Weaverville--the creek at the house is beautiful and peaceful, but if you are planning to hang out on the creek and swim you should be aware that it's not the ideal spot. There are some nice places to swim downstream a bit, and if you are willing to drive 45 minutes or so, there are some world class swimming holes on the other side of Weaverville, up some tributaries to the Trinity River.

  • I brought my daughter, two of her cousins and my sister to this wonderful home in the woods after a very challenging year. Boy. Was it wonderful! The river was a little too wild at this time of year for a swim (and super-chilly as well) so we contented ourselves with watching and listening to it. The kids spent many hours sunning themselves happily. Having all the supplies you would have at home made it sooo easy! Pack food and go! I have three large dogs who had a wonderful gallivanting on the lawns and sniffing everything! The birds are amazing, my sister had her binoculars and bird book and was very entertained! We barbequed, we relaxed, my phone died and I didn't care! Steph walked me through lighting the pilot on the gas fireplace for the chilly nights, and Heidi made me a great deal on the second night when we just couldn't leave! Did I mention the spa tub in the upstairs suite? OH JOY! And the log bed overlooking the river in the loft upstairs. I DEFY you to be tense! We slept well, ate well, and drank well and are so very grateful for the stay! Thank you!

  • Steph and Heidi's cabin is a great gateway from busy noisy city life yet close to bay area. The house was as described and Steph and Heidi were both super quick responding to any questions we had before and during our stay. We were there in winter however I am sure summer would be also a great time to enjoy the cabin. The river right outside backyard was inviting. We will definitely plan a summer gateway here again. Thanks Heidi and Steph. You were great hosts.

  • House is great - definitely recommend. Heidi was easy and clear during trip set up. House is nestled within a small cluster of places and the area is really nice. Highlights: + Beautiful view. + River is awesome (especially the rope swing). + Spacious. Comfortably slept 6 people, each with their own bed. Would stay here again if in the Trinity/Shasta area.

Neat and comfy historic cabin with cedar interior. Nice furnishings, antiques, full bath, kitchen & laundry. Fish steelhead from our property or just downriver within wading distance at Guardrail Riffles. BBQ patio (shared with another cabin) with new gas grill and new Weber! Wi-Fi. Wood stove with wood supplied (and other heat sources).
The Carriage House is a comfortable, unique 1BR/1BA/full kitchen cabin with a swamp cooler for summer and cozy wood stove plus gas heat for winter. It is in easy wading distance to popular steelhead riffles and there's a salmon hole right in front of it. Some of our winter steelhead guests come every year and never drive once they've arrived. They fish right here and do very well. See our photos for some of their fish shots. Need to do some work online while you're here? The cabin has a fine old secretary (desk) with good light and we upgraded to the fastest unlimited Wi-Fi available Fall 2017. This is a rustic, romantic getaway for a couple, but it works well for 2-3 singles with one in the queen log bed, one in the twin captain's bed and one on the very nice leather and tapestry couch (bring a sleeping bag for the couch). It's located on spacious lawns overlooking the Trinity River. There is a swimming hole on the property, year-round trout fishing, beautiful birdsong and great tranquility. The interior is almost all cedar. The full kitchen has everything you might need except for a dishwasher. The bedroom has a queen log bed, plus there's a twin captain's bed in the living room along with a stunning leather and wildlife tapestry couch and love seat. The deep, covered back porch on the river side has a mister for hot days, 2nd dining set, plenty of room for drying gear, and is a wonderful place to relax. The BBQ patio is next to the cabin and shared by the cabin beyond it. AIRBNB has no section to add local taxes, which are 5% of the lodging. We will add tax in a quote when you send a request. Also, we are dog-friendly with friendly dogs and charge $15 per dog per stay (please ask if you would like to bring your dog(s). We need an accurate count on human and canine guests. Experience end of the lane peace and privacy. There are only 2 other cabins ("Grand A Frame on Trinity River" and "On the River, Romantic & Private" on this 1+ acre property. You can rent all for a larger group; it's great for small weddings and reunions. We also have a delightful 3 bedroom/2 bath cabin with use of the hot tub overlooking the river at our Lewiston cabin ("Rustic, Peaceful, Near the Trinity"), which is also at the end of the lane. And we have a neat place in Dunsmuir for fishers, skiers and hikers ("Lovely Dunsmuir Haus~Late Checkouts"). We offer kayak, raft, cataraft and stand up paddleboard (SUP) rentals, lessons and guided trips. Our guided kayak river trips include a thorough lesson before departure. We are very good at teaching and supply everything you need. The river has gentle meanders with some mild but still fun rapids; or you can paddle on Lewiston Lake, which is also stunning (wonderful birding: great blue herons, bald eagles, golden eagles, osprey & more; we often see great blue herons, osprey, night herons and occasionally, bald eagles on our river trips). Our hard boards are top quality and an easy choice if your vehicle can carry them. Pristine, stream-fed ponds just a few miles away provide warmer water than the river for swimming, and are a nice option for families with small kids. Michael Caranci of The Fly Shop in Redding says of our cabins: 'For sheer seclusion, river access, and cozy, comfortable accommodations, the cabins at the Trinity River Adventure Cabins are certainly among the best.' WiFi is available, but guests should not expect lightning-fast city speeds.
Nothing beats time spent on the water. Fish or paddle on the river or lakes. Read outside or by the wood stove. Hike with your dog (thousands of trails!). Cook. Slow down.
  • We really liked our stay here. It is right on the river with a great swimming & fishing hole. Also it is a short drive to downtown Weaverville where you can get groceries, fishing supplies, etc.

  • Heidi is a fantastic host with an incredible piece of property. The cabin (and all of the cabins) sit right on the river, which I didn't see a lot of while I was up there. She responded quickly and gave very thorough information. I would definitely stay here again.

  • This is a great getaway, right on the Trinity river (in your backyard). Cell service you won't get and 1 TV Dish receiver is shared with 3 other (Website hidden by Airbnb) a great place to come and enjoy the outdoors, not to stay indoors and watch TV or work on your phone.

  • Robert is definitely one of the better hosts on Airbnb, he is very helpful and was around but never intrusive. The property was extensive, lots of room for our group and three dogs to hang out. We stayed two nights and lit a campfire and made s'mores the second night. The cabin is filled with all your necessities and more. The surrounding area is very nice and there is a lot to do.

  • We enjoyed our weekend at the Trinity River Hideaway. It was very nice that our old dog was able to stay with us. Maybe next time we will visit when it is not so warm and we can have a fire. Even though it was warm in the afternoons, it cools off at night enough to cool the house off. We caught the eclipse before leaving (which was impossible with the fog where we live). The place has very nice furnishings to cook and live. It felt like home.

    Mike2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • The 5 of us all loved this place and would return. The house is clean and newly remodeled. The deck is a comfortable hangout for meals and a relaxation overlooking the river. Robert is awesome with communication. We floated, sunbathed, cooked and had a great time.

Our 30′ Pacific Yurt is a place of tranquility and fun in the round. It’s a perfect for a romantic getaway or family vacation. You have private river access located next to the Strawhouse Cafe’ where you can swim, fish or relax, and there are beautiful hiking areas nearby. The Yurt's kitchen is outfitted with a small fridge, a toaster oven, and a microwave. You also have access to a charcoal BBQ. It is located on the park side, not the river side, but you do have private river access.
  • We had a lot of fun staying in the yurt, playing in the river, and eating pizza at the cafe. My older kid was utterly delighted to sleep in the loft and loved to see the stars through the ceiling. My younger kid happily ran in circles. The area is beautiful.

  • Absolutely loved our stay. The view at the top of the loft on a clear night is magical! Don and Julia are excellent hosts, and made us feel so welcome during our stay.

  • Julia was absolutely out of this world amazing!! Here are my list of praises for the host and the site: Prompt response to all email inquires, amazing organic food at the Strawhouse cafe, (these people really know how to make food! Their ice vanilla lattes are also a must). Accommodating & friendly staff, BEAUTIFUL VIEW of the trinity river, cool architectural yurt, comfortable clean beds, beautiful clawfoot tub to soak in, and the list can go on and on. Everything about this place was flawless and it definitely made my bachelorette trip a memorable one. I would recommend this place to every/any person that is looking to get away from the city and escape to this beautiful gem of a place. I can't thank you enough Julia for hosting such an awesome place.

  • If you have never stayed in a yurt, this is your opportunity. I don't have any previous yurt experience, but this one was surprisingly spacious and comfortable.

  • Excellent location and super friendly staff. A great place for bonding : ) Don and Julia are great hosts and they made sure everything is working.

  • Our stay at Julia's was serene and peaceful. The river was breathtaking. Julia was very accommodating to our needs. We hope to come back soon!

  • The yurt is great, I love the design, the fixtures and details are high quality. The coffee house across the highway has charming details, the river is beautiful with nice grass to help you enjoy it. So far this would be a 5 star review. But the noise. There is a highway maybe 30 feet from the yurt. Your canvas-sided yurt. You will hear every single vehicle and be able to tell which is a car or a semi (!). It can only be described as significant noise.

The Arttus Ranch in the Trinity Alps in northern CA is a great retreat for fishing, hiking, gold-panning, biking, floating or swimming on the Trinity River, boating on Lewiston Lake, exploring the historic gold mining town of Weaverville.
Good views of the Trinity Alps, fishing, rafting, bicycle riding, gold-panning. The house fits 7 people very comfortably, but 2 more guests can be added with a fee. The house is very clean, spacious, comfortable, not fancy.
Very quiet, but close to town (Weaverville). Great bird watching, star watching, stone skipping on the river, bicycling, and fishing.
  • Great place to stay in beautiful Trinity County! Everything was as described.

  • The Arttus Ranch is a true gem for Airbnb. Great value, serene location, and a home like feeling. Our dog loved the big field adjacent to the property, and the private access to the river was the highlight for us. The town of Weaverville is about 15 minutes away and has a great grocery store. We were able to cook for all meals during our 3 day stay -- the kitchen is well equipped. Overall a great experience and would come back.

  • Great ranch! Beautiful location! Would love to come back.

    Sonal2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • The Arttus Ranch was a wonderful, cozy, warm place to spend Christmas eve among a winter wonderland of snow covered trees. The large kitchen let us prepare festive meals with ease. Lorrie was quick at answering the 2 questions we had, but really the place was well organized so there really were no questions. The river trail was a beautiful touch, and the local road sees almost no traffic so is great for long walks. Our sheepdog made friends with the goats...really, the goats came up to him and they nosed each other through the fence... We are considering returning for some fishing in the spring or summer, and happily recommend the Artus Ranch to fellow AirBnBer's.

  • Great place for family/friends to stay. Very roomy and clean. Nice kitchen space. Beautiful outside. Would definitely stay again!

  • We loved our stay at the Arttus Ranch! Lorrie was a wonderful host and was very attentive to all our questions. The house is lovely and the location in gorgeous! We rang in the new year there and could not have asked for a better place.

  • The ranch house was large, clean and had spectacular views. We loved watching the goats, horses and deer during the day time, and enjoyed night time star gazing. Walking distance to the river, and short drive to lakes nearby. Lots of movies and music to choose from. The internet worked just fine with our computers. House can accommodate large family with 3 bedrooms, although we didn't use all of the space. Overall a great place to get out of the city and spend quality time closer to nature. We loved it.

    Ravi2015-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place was just so comfortable and relaxing. Great location for just kicking back and enjoying nature. Fishing and swimming within walking distance from the home. Fun for all family members!!!

We are located within the beautiful Trinity National Recreation Area next to Trinity Alps Wilderness Area, & Trinity Lake at the base of Granite Peak. Lake is accessible from nearby launches, campgrounds and day use areas. Trinity Lake, third largest in CA, is near capacity. Like day hikes? This is the place. Multiple hikes are available to surrounding mountain lakes. Nearby Trinity Center and Weaverville have airports to fly in and tie down. Marinas on the lake offer all types of rentals.
Historic Weaverville and Trinity County. Many activites such as the Farmers market with live music/entertainment, historic shops, The Joss house, live theater, and a walk away from the beautiful Trinity Lake.
Located on a ridge above the Trinity lake, we provide a quiet and exclusive neighborhood with a paved road. We can offer a small amount of fruit, coffee, eggs, waffle or pancake mix so you can start your day off right.
  • Gorgeous area, house, view.... Great people!!! Sue and Rick have this awesome set up in the room: Water dispenser, mini fridge, air purifier...they offered us eggs and banana bread, they had milk and juice in the mini fridge. Sue is so sweet and thoughtful! They have a garden and Sue made her own hiking trail. We would stay their again! It was a great first Airbnb experience!!

  • The house is located in the woods just 200 feet away from the Trinity lake. The door opens to a short trail that would lead you to the lake with gorgeous views. With minimal to no lights, it would be the perfect spot for star gazing. The place is calm, clean with tall trees around making it the perfect spot for your break from the hustle and bustle of Bay Area. It is so calm that you can hear the sound of Airplanes. Even though it is located 2 hours from Shasta, staying inside the forests was worth it. One must come loaded necessary supplies since the nearest convenience store is about 30 minutes away. The private room is clean and big with all the necessary amenities - books, DVDs, coffee maker, board games, fruits, cookies. The most interesting part would be the door to outside that leads you straight into the woods. Sue and her family were such sweet hosts. She took my group on the trail to the lake telling us about all her adventurous encounters. The family also took us on a walk to a star gazing spot (the sky was clouded unfortunately). We got to hear great stories about their family which were so interesting that we did not realize the time going way past midnight. We really enjoyed our welcome and it was a great trip. I would recommend it to anyone who not just wants to visit Shasta but also have a quieter retreat. Don’t forget to lookout for their sweet cat George and their neighbor’s friendly dog Odis.

  • We had an absolutely great time at Rick's and Sue's Red House. We found an extended family in them! Both Rick and Sue were very helpful in helping plan our time in the Shasta Trinity area. Before we got there, Rick called me to help plan for the drive and sent out links to local attraction and things do to, only a local would know. When we got there, we had a warm welcome along with some wild life that came to say hi. We got the tour of the place and a list of all things to do from local eateries, hikes and swimming locations in lake Trinity. About the house, we stayed in the basement with all amenities for the living room and beds. It is half bath downstairs and for the showers used the other half bath upstairs to the their living area. Rick and Sue live in the same house, upstairs. This is not a typical secluded AirBnB experienced for a private house all by yourself. You do run in to the owners but they are the nicest people. On one of the nights, both Rick and Sue accompanied us for a walk in the dark after dinner. The woods are quiet but we felt really comfortable with them alongside with us. We also had our own star gazing and exploration sessions, a browning sight away from all the city lights. Definitely a mention is that Sue went out her way to share her pancake ingredients so that we could have our belly's full before we hit the road on our way back. No one does that and t was just very very thoughtful. All of us had a super time in the area and highly recommend staying at Rick's and Sue's house to have a real local experience.

    Abhijit2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Hospitality does not describe the care and attention to detail that Sue shows. From checking in, to making sure that we were taken care of while there, was above and beyond. Definately recommend Sue's place to anyone.

  • A very cute place in the middle of the forest! It's maybe one of the quietest place ever, only surrounded by the sound of the forest in the night, and its inhabitants... Well, we haven't met any bear, unfortunately, so we'll have to come back! ;-)

    Remi2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sue and Rick are really nice folks, and made sure we had everything we needed for our weekend. Their place is very quiet and restful, and in an amazing area.

  • The shower is upstairs. Nice homely feel and very friendly and helpful. Beautiful souls living together in a very beautiful place....some say "Gods County"Trinity Alps"

This is a rustic cabin in the woods. You are a two minute walk to Trinity river. Also surrounded by BLM land covered in trails for tons of fun exploring. Perfect fisherman or hunters getaway.
  • If you are looking for seclusion along a magical stretch of the Trinity river, this is the place for you! The cabin is rustic and perfect for the outdoorsman, nature enthusiast and romantics alike. This is a restored vintage cabin with a minimalist spirit. The location was a little difficult to find with no service, but that only adds to the charm and Rachel was great about communication and directions. The drive there was almost as beautiful as the forest and unlimited trails accessible right out the back door. A great location for all seasons. I cannot wait to return!

great place to crash after live music in town or if you need a place to freshen up while camping. currently rustic country living.. wood heat... space heaters for those chilly morns when we don't make a fire. we do have indoor plumbing and electric lights... no traffic... min 1 acre to neighbors..40 min walk to airport/town/bus stop/county fair grounds. im usually available for rides.
currently only a single cot w/ pad... one double pad.. and one single air mattress.. there is actually a 1/2 room connected to guest room that can be used for semi private sleeping...
mostly quiet... the usual neighborhood noises... the seclusion and darkness even though we are in town are the things that strike me the most.
  • Sonny's house is a great place to be in Hayfork! It's close to the main road but surrounded by trees so gives you this amazing vibe of nature. The room is great and spacious , with a little bathroom for yourself! The beds are comfy and the space is super clean. The best of staying on this place is to have the opportunity to meet and share with Sonny, she's a great host , super sweet and easy going and really make us feel at home. Thank you Sonny!! If you stay in the area this is the place to be!
