Set in the traquil surroundings of Lower Nill Farm this wooden cabin has glorious views across the Cotswolds with all the amenities to make your stay a relaxing break away from hectic life. Lower Nill Farm is just a short distance from the historical village of Hook Norton. Hook Norton is famous throughout the world for its brewery which has been making beer since 1849. Lower Nill Farm is also located on the historic D'arcy Dalton way which spans the length of the county of Oxfordshire.
The Cabin is an oak framed structure complete with exposed beams/trusses and vaulted ceilings which make the space light & airy. The glazing makes the most of the views looking out to Brailes Hill and beyond, it also makes a great space to watch local wildlife. The Cabin also has a huge garden at your disposal perfect for summer BBQ's and for children to play safely. The plot is in a very peaceful part of the farm an excellent place to unplug and relax.
Lower Nill Farm is located in the spectacular Oxfordshire countryside. It's a great base to explore the Cotswolds and also historical cities and towns like Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Banbury, Chipping Norton and Leamington Spa. The local village, Hook Norton, is a very picturesque place where agriculture and brewing have played a huge part in the prosperity of the village. The local brewery is the home of Hook Norton ales and a huge source of local pride. A visit to the brewery shows you a process that has barely changed in 200 years in a majestic building purpose built for the serious business of making beer. Other local gems are: -Whichford pottery and the adjoining Straw Kitchen Cafe -Broughton Castle -The Rollright Stones -Upton House -Chastleton House -Blenheim Palace

Chipping Norton, better known as "Chippy" by locals, is a well-known market town in the Cotswolds which has been runner up in the Great British High Street awards for small market town for the last two years. Once the site of a Norman castle, the town is the highest in Oxfordshire and has a number of notable buildings to visit. The Town Hall proudly marks the days when the town was a Borough. It was built in 1842 and used to host the poultry and butter markets on Wednesdays, as well as the Corn Exchange. It was also used for entertainment and auctions and lucky visitors may catch a glimpse of a bride and groom as the hall is licensed for weddings. A picturesque row of traditional Cotswold stone cottages can be found in the town which were once almshouses given to Chippy by puritan Henry Cornish. The almshouses are set back from the road and are entered through a grand archway which has elaborate finials and cresting. Another standout building is Bliss Mill. It dates back to the 1870s and was once used in the manufacturing of wool and tweed for cloth manufacturer William Bliss. The mill was designed to look like a country house, but has the large chimney at one end for which it is recognised. It is now a Grade II listed building and was converted into luxury apartments in the 1980s. Being a relatively small town, it comes as a surprise to many to find a theatre in Chipping Norton. The team put on an array of productions including theatre, music, comedy and the annual pantomime. As well as live performances, the theatre also screens a range of classic, art house and foreign language films. Food & Drink As one of the main market towns in the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton has a wide variety of places to eat and drink, catering for most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample, to give a flavour for the various options available: Wild Thyme Restaurant (www.wildthymerestaurant.co.uk): Offering exciting modern British food and relaxed friendly service, complemented by three stylish rooms, this is a special place to enjoy great food and wine with family and friends. The Chequers (www.chequers-pub.com): The Chequers was built in medieval times at the entrance to the market place and is thought to date back to the late 1500s as a pub, when it was identified by a sign of a blue anchor outside. The main bar is situated amongst four seating areas. In the absence of any electronic games machines, pool tables or juke boxes, the traditional pub styling of yesteryear is recalled. A blazing log fire in the winter creates a cosy atmosphere. There is also a separate restaurant area. Whistlers Café Bar & Restaurant (www.whistlersrestaurant.co.uk): The owners of Whistlers are passionate about food and passionate about entertaining. Open during the day as well as for evening meals, Whistlers has a range of breakfasts, through to lighter snacks and lunchtime treats, as well as a great range of hot drinks and cakes to help you while away the hours. Café Le Raj (www.cafeleraj.net): A contemporary Indian restaurant, where top quality ingredients and fragrant herbs and spices are used to create sumptuous dishes.

Tyte Cottage is a beautiful ground floor property sat within one and a half acres of lovely grounds belonging to the owners. The cottage is located in the village of Great Rollright, which is itself situated on a hilltop, providing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The village has a close association with the Rollright Stones, a prehistoric stone circle, and with many pretty walks and cycle routes passing through the village, it is a great base for outdoor enthusiasts. The fabulous market town of Chipping Norton, affectionately known as ‘Chippy’, is just over two miles away and offers plenty of dining options and festivals throughout the year, as well as a weekly market showcasing local produce. The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

About the village The quiet and quaint Oxfordshire village of Swerford sits on the River Swere, four miles north-east of Chipping Norton. The hustle and bustle of the more popular Cotswold towns and villages has by-passed Swerford, perhaps why it is so well-preserved and picture-perfect. The village was first recorded in the Doomsday Book (1086) when Robert D’Oyley (a Norman who accompanied King William during his invasion of England) became the local landowner. The remains of a 12th century motte and bailey castle is open for visits, as well as the 13th century St Mary’s Church - partly built from stones taken from the castle. Often referred to as a ‘village in two parts’, Swerford’s Church End and East End are separated by a mile of countryside known as ‘Between Towns’. Hillside Cottage is in East End. Walkers will enjoy the easily accessible network of local footpaths, including one direct from Hillside Cottage to The Boxing Hare, and a 2.5-mile walk to the pretty village of Hook Norton. Hooky, as it’s affectionately called by locals, is well known to beer enthusiasts for its Victorian Tower brewery and delicious brews. Daily tours of the Hook Norton Brewery provide a chance to sample Hooky, Haymaker and Cotswold Pale beers - visitors may also like to eat breakfast, lunch or light meals at the Malthouse Kitchen Café and visit the free museum. Country lovers who prefer to visit the busier Cotswold towns, but stay in a quieter setting, will enjoy Hillside Cottage and Swerford’s rural charm. Sightseeing & Activities Swerford is less than 10 miles from several towns and villages, including Banbury (8.5 miles), Chipping Norton (5.3 miles) and Hook Norton (1.8 miles). The centre of Oxford is a 45-minute drive away (a handy Park & Ride is a 42-minute drive away), while several other well-known Cotswold towns and villages are within 20 miles, including Bourton-on-the-Water (17 miles), Stow-on-the-Wold (13 miles) and Moreton-in-Marsh (12.5 miles). Hillside Cottage is also conveniently located for visits to Bicester Village (18 miles), the designer outlet shopping centre, and Soho Farmhouse (4.5 miles), a popular wedding venue. The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Altamente raccomandato.

Spring Farm is a working farm in a peaceful rural location with cattle, horses and chickens in the fields around the farmhouse. It is perfect for a countryside getaway with some lovely walks & cycle rides from the farm (see how to hire bikes below). Feel free to wander round the farm and meet the animals. Spring Farm is less than 3 miles from Soho Farmhouse and there are many superb pubs and restaurants nearby. We would recommend The Boxing Hare, Swerford and The Falkland Arms, Great Tew.
The annexe has a separate access and is a self contained unit. It has recently been totally refurbished and guests can enjoy the high quality finish. A breakfast hamper is left for guests containing fresh eggs, bread, bacon, cereals, orange juice, tea, coffee and milk. The sofa bed is quite small so we offer a high quality portable guest bed if required.
The historic market town of Chipping Norton is 2 miles away. There is a farmers market once a month, a historic theatre and many restaurants including Chinese, Indian and Thai food. Other tourist attractions nearby include Blenheim Palace, Daylesford organic farm shop and spa, beautiful Stow on the Wold, Hook Norton Brewery & Whichford Pottery.

Renovated in 2018, the Granary is the third of three unique conversions of 17th Century farm buildings in the grounds of an historic old vicarage in tranquil Little Tew, on the edge of the Cotswolds. The Granary offers luxury, private and comfortable accommodation for a couple to use as a base to laze or explore.
The Granary is the conversion of a 17th Century Cotswold stone grain store, offering accommodation over the first and second floors. This leads straight into a fully equipped kitchen/dining room, featuring Belfast sink, dishwasher, induction hob, electric oven and all the equipment you could need to cook up and eat a feast; with views over the Granary’s dedicated garden, the dining table will comfortably seat four. A light, comfy room with a double bed, spacious en suite, we're right in the heart of the edge of the Cotswolds, with two great pubs in the village, and fabulous walks from our front door. We're 30 mins from Stratford Upon Avon, 45 mins from Oxford, and just 20 mins from Banbury Train Station (direct links to London and Birmingham). The Rollright Stones are a 10 min drive away, as is Chipping Norton. Hook Norton would make a super base to explore the northern half of the Cotswolds.

The room is equipped with a rain shower, WC, heated towel rail, and washbasin. Alcove shelving provides space for personal items, or you can light tealight candles to create a distinctively spa-like feel. (Note: there is a step up into the Wet Room from the hallway.) Bedroom Three (bunkbed room) Overlooking the front garden, the bunkbed room is a fabulous room for children, with lots of space to sleep and play. It is a bright and airy room, but blackout blinds as well as curtains will ensure a good night’s sleep! The bedroom has a wardrobe with chest of drawers, which also houses the iron and ironing board. The second wardrobe is an airing cupboard where guests will find a travel cot, baby changing mat and clothes airer. At the top of the stairs is a delightful seating area, with a two-seater sofa, double pouf, table and lamp. Tucked high up in Oxfordshire’s portion of the Cotswolds, Chipping Norton is a beautiful market town with an enviable reputation. It is the highest town in the region thanks to its stunning hillside location, with a rich history dating back to the 13th Century when it was known as a bustling wool-trading town; a heritage proven through the great wool church of St. Mary, known for its stunning interiors, and still sitting proudly at the heart of the town. Affectionately known by locals as ‘Chippy’, the town is now very much a bustling hub of culture; its thriving retail and culinary scene attracting visitors from all across the Cotswolds. A general market still takes place every Wednesday, and a Farmer’s Market is held on the morning of every third Saturday. The town is great for anyone looking to hunt for some local treats, with a plethora of independent retailers and antique shops to peruse. The town also has a good number of pubs, restaurants and cafes, whilst culture buffs will love the thriving theatre; a rare addition to a town of this size, famous for its annual pantomime and eclectic programme of music, theatre, dance and comedy. Start off by exploring the landmarks of the town itself. Take in the beautiful Town Hall (a proud symbol of the town’s former borough days), before visiting the Almshouses – one of the town’s key landmarks dating back to the first half of the 1600s, provided kindly by former resident Henry Cornish upon his death to house widows of the town. Chipping Norton Museum, located on the High Street, showcases memorable artefacts from throughout the town’s history dating all the way back to the Roman period, making it a great pit-stop for those keen to learn more about the town through the ages. Chipping Norton Theatre is also a must-visit, should there be anything that tickles your fancy playing during your stay. Further afield, the many sights and attractions of the wider Cotswolds will afford you plenty to see and do. Start off by heading to The Rollright Stones, an ancient stone circle spanning nearly 2,000 years of Neolithic and Bronze Age development located in the nearby village of Great Rollright. Just outside the town sits Bliss Tweed Mill, an impressive display of 19th Century manufacturing prowess, immediately recognisable by its iconic dome-based chimney, which makes it look more like a lavish mansion than a tweed mill. Now luxury apartments following its official closure in the 1980s, the mill is still well worth driving past as one of the town’s most famous visual landmarks. The National Trust’s Chastleton House and Garden, an ancient country house spanning 400 years of history, is also just a stone’s throw away in Moreton-in-Marsh, whilst the acclaimed Whichford Pottery is just a 15-minute drive for those in search of a pretty souvenir from their travels. For Kids (little and big) Blenheim Palace Home to the 12th Duke of Marlborough and family, and birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace is a spectacular masterpiece of architecture sure to wow visitors of all ages.
