The Gregan Retreat's located on a farm called Lisdillon Estate. The house comfortably fits two and overlooks the vineyard and Lisdillon Rivulet which flows down to Lisdillon's private beach, only a five minute stroll away.
The house has a large balcony to relax and enjoy the view of the vineyard and Lisdillon Rivulet. It has a fireplace to keep you toasty warm through those winter nights (however as we don't tend to do as many firewood runs in summer there is a chance there will be no firewood in that season). We offer a relaxed stay on a farm. We have a private beach which is so untouched that many rare birds nest there. We also have a private river which is brimming with a variety of fish if you enjoy fishing (strictly catch and release). Bring your kayaks and float down the rivulet to the beach. If you have a boat you can take it out to the sea and fish in front of our property (a list of species you can catch is available below). The house comfortably fits two people. It has a kitchen/living room, bathroom and separate bedroom with queensized bed. The property is situated 21 kilometres outside of the nearest town of Swansea, and an hour and a half from Hobart. Swansea and its surroundings have some well-known gourmet restaurants, the closest of which, Piermont, is only a ten minute drive away if guests wish to indulge themselves. It is a fifty minute drive to Coles Bay, and the world famous Freycinet National Park. Several vineyards set amidst the stunning scenery of the east coast of Tasmania, are within easy driving distance. Taste the high quality wine of Milton and Springvale at their cellar doors. Perfect for a relaxed weekend away - try some of Lisdillon's delicious, internationally award winning pinot noir or sauvignon blanc! For the fishermen guests, the sea out the front of our property offers: - bay flathead - king flathead - cod - trumpeter - trevally - salmon - perch - squid - crayfish The Lisdillon Rivulet has: - bream - oysters - trevally mullet - Australian salmon - brown trout - native galaxia -occasionally flathead - eels - grayling, aka cucumber herring
Lisdillon is a 6000 acre working sheep farm and vineyard. Its title includes three white, sandy beaches to low water mark, as well as the reef off the main beach. It also includes a rivulet with swimming/fishing holes, an estuary perfect for fishing and amazing views of The Hazzards and Freycinet National Park, and of Maria Island. Lisdillon itself is described by many of our guests as being perhaps the most beautiful place they have seen on their visit to Australia. With all this space, Lisdillon is the perfect place to go walking, swimming or fishing. Bring your kayaks and explore the river and coastline or bring your boat and launch it from the beach or from the MaST recommended boat ramp five minutes away. Perhaps you would prefer to just relax in the sun on the large deck, or in the comfortable lounge room in front of the fire, and read the books or play the games that are provided - and perhaps enjoy a glass of Lisdillon's own award winning wine. Or if you enjoy cooking, make the most of the well equipped kitchen! We are within easy driving distance of Coles Bay and Freycinet National Park to the North and Maria Island to the south, making us the perfect base as you explore the world famous scenic areas of Tasmania's East Coast. Or you may prefer to visit the local wine cellars and taste some of our world class Tasmanian wines and dine in some of the beautiful restaurants set among the vines. Enjoy a meal in one of the local cafes or restaurants in Swansea, Triabunna or Orford - all within half an hour's drive. Piermont, with its award winning restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and is only a ten minute drive. You might like to participate in some of the many activities available locally, including whale watching, bike riding or quad bike touring. With so much to do - and so much beauty to admire while just relaxing, Lisdillon is the perfect place for your holiday.
  • We have such an incredible stay at Katherine's cabin - the surroundings are incredible with a short walk down to a private beach and a fantastic view of the vineyards and river from the front veranda/porch. There are some incredible sights (Marina Island, Wineglass Bay, wineries) that are fairly close to the property. Katherine was kind enough to refill our wood pile so we could have a fire which was nice. There isn't much in the way of shops around the area so recommend bringing some supplies with you. Would highly recommend this to my friends and will 100% come back in the near future for another stay - very relaxing and extremely well priced.

  • We had a great time at the cottage, the property is beautiful and very peaceful. We would love to come back again.

    Sarah2015-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • Katherine's cottage is a quaint weatherboard cottage in the middle of a working sheep farm on Tasmania's east coast. It is approximately 20km south of Swansea. The cottage is true to the photos, was spotless, its small, but perfect for two people. The linen and towels were of high quality, the bed and pillows were very comfortable. Katherine's communication was excellent, and her directions were easy to follow although we didn't meet her. We were given privacy which was lovely. The beach is shared with a couple of neighbours, but you can only access it from the water otherwise, which makes it private and we didn't encounter anyone while we visited. We enjoyed our stay immensely, but be aware that you will share your stay with sheep and that this is a working farm. You will not be totally isolated and the farm needs to be managed throughout the day.

  • Beautiful peaceful setting with well equipped and comfortable cottage. Did not meet our hosts but we were only there for 2 nights and really enjoyed our stay

  • We didnt meet Katherine but everything was as described and a very beautiful area. The family wine is nice as well.

  • Very quiet and private.

    Stephen2018-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Katherine’s place is a spacious one bedroom cottage on a beautiful farm/vineyard. It’s a short walk from a secluded beach which had nice views. Katherine was easy to communicate with. Would stay again!

    Sean2018-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the cottage! We didn't meet Katherine, but there was even no need to get in contact during our stay as everything was just perfect! The place has real character and reminded us of "The Holiday" movie! This is definitely the place you want to stay whilst visiting the Swansea and Freycinet area! I would definitely stay again, in winter it's beautiful with wood fire, table games and listening to CDs, in Summer I believe it would be stunning with walks on the private beach and the peaceful area. Thanks for a great stay!

    Little Swanport, Tasmania, Australia

In Swansea - central to all attractions of the east coast, situated in a quiet location - one minute walk to the beach. 2 bedrooms, queen and two single beds, beautiful outlook. Child safe deck looking out to the bay. Off-street parking. No wifi.
The house easily accommodates four people. There are lovely bay views from the house and the spacious, enclosed deck, very suitable for small children. A portacot and high chair are included. Quiet location, but with lots to occupy your time. Beach walks, golf, fishing, biking, swimming, bird watching, snorkelling, history museum, penguin viewing and dining are just a few of the opportunities here, and of course, visiting the iconic Freycinet National Park incorporating Wineglass Bay, and Friendly Beaches. Don't forget to visit Cape Tourville lighthouse, and the amazing short coastal walk on the clifftops, and Sleepy Bay. To the south, Maria Island is well worth a visit. There is a barbecue available. If you would like to use this please notify us on arrival. The wood heater has a fan switch for added warmth. If you need help to light the fire please ask. The beds do not have electric blankets, but hot water bottles and covers are provided. There is a coffee machine for your convenience. You bring your favourite blend. Beach towels and boogie boards available on request. No wifi but you can access it in the town centre at the visitor centre and in numerous establishments, and at the online access centre at the local school.
We do accept one night stays if a single night exists between other bookings. Our accommodation is located in a quiet area, in a cul de sac with a number of permanent residents. We respect the rights of our neighbours to peace and tranquility. We hope you will too. The house is a twenty minute walk from the local shops or a two minute drive. It should be noted that the last local supermarket, IGA, closes at 7 pm. If you are arriving later, it would be prudent to collect supplies in Hobart or Launceston, or on route Sorell ( South) or Campbell Town ( north). Swansea has a small number of restaurant choices, a pharmacy, a health centre with doctors available, an historical museum and travel office where tours and ferries can be booked. Golfers may enjoy a round on the 9 hole Swansea course located on Waterloo Point. The cost is $15 for a round with golf clubs included. Free WiFi is available in the town in numerous locations including the online access centre, for forty minutes, and this time can be extended if you buy something locally to the value of $3. You then obtain a voucher.
  • Our stay was wonderful. The house had everything needed to be self sufficient and it also had great views. I loved the bunny rabbits at dusk were cute. The bed was very comfy.

    Maree2016-01-06T00:00:00Z
  • Alison showed us around, and let us know we could ask for help with anything. It was a beautiful location in a very big house with views of the bay from the balcony and lounge/dining room. The location is about 5 minutes from a nearby supermarket and take away food places and the listing had all the necessities. I would recommend it to anyone.

    Mara2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really comfortable place to stay, well equipped

    Marilyn2016-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was great. Excellent views and not too far from Freycinet. Rod was a fantastic host. I would recommend this place anyone who wants to visit the east coast.

  • Cosy cottage right across from a beach. Good base to explore the local region. Comfy bed and excellent log fire!

    Fiona2017-04-11T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent place for a quiet holiday with family. House is tastefully decorated and well equipped.

    Kok Seng2017-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • Alison and Rod were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating hosts. Upon arrival they inquired about what we were interested in doing during our stay and were able to offer recommendations that suited us perfectly. The accommodation was clean and quite comfortable. We would not hesitate to stay in this accommodation again.

    Darryl2016-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had just a quick overnight stay with Alison and Rod but really enjoyed the place and the views from the large deck. Definitely a much better alternative to the motel in the main street, spacious with everything you need and no noise at all. Still it's just a nice short walk to the small town center of Swansea.

    Swansea, Tasmania, Australia

We have chosen Swansea for our retirement and have established a comfortable home for ourselves, by the sea with a lovely garden. The downstairs is reserved for friends, relatives and Airbnb guests. We are now including a light breakfast of cereal, bread, spreads, yoghurt and fruit juice.
The accommodation is completely self contained and separate from the rest of the house. It has two entrances from the garden. The apartment occupies the entire downstairs area. It consists of bedroom, bathroom, kitchenette and a very spacious sitting/dining room. All rooms are comfortably furnished. The kitchen has a sink, fridge, microwave, bench-top hotplate, electric fry-pan, jug and toaster, with cutlery and crockery. Tea, ground coffee, sugar and milk are provided. Most suitable for a couple or single person.
Swansea is on the east coast of Tasmania, halfway between Launceston in the north and Hobart in the south. Our place in Swansea is situated across the road from one of several beaches within walking distance. Coles Bay, The Hazards and Freycinet National park are about a 50 minute drive around the bay. South of Swansea are the beautiful beaches of Cressy, Spikey, Kelvedon and The Saltworks. The area around Swansea is the home of a number of wineries featuring some beautiful Tasmanian wines. Swansea shops, restaurants and medical centre are also within walking distance.
  • Doug and Lorraine met us on arrival with a very kind and warm welcome. We had a fantastic stay here. The guest house was heated for us on arrival, perfect for a cold winters night in Tasmania. It was spacious and cosy and had everything we needed. All the essential amenities. Great shower and comfortable bed! We would highly recommend their place.

    Mark2018-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and lorraine were very lovely and friendly. The area was very beautiful. Pity we couldn't stay longer.

    Katie2018-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Had a lovely stay at Doug and Lorraine's place! It was super spacious with a large living room and had all the amenities you'd need including some light breakfast in the fridge like fresh bread, milk, and jam, and an electric blanket which kept us warm all night. Located right across the beach, it's a bonus to watch the sunset from such a nice place. I would definitely recommend staying here if you're going to be headed to Freycinet National Park which is about a 40min drive away.

    Vi2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • you need to stay here. accommodation is just perfect. every popular attraction is closed from here. even your view from the house is beautiful, you can go to the beach by walk in 5min.

    Yeol Woo2018-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and Lorraine were wonderful hosts and there was nothing more we could ask for in their warm and lovely home. Check in was easy, and they gave us a detailed walk through the space, which was stylishly decorated with beautiful canvases of Doug’s photography. There is a beach 3 minutes walk from the house and it provides a great view of the sunrise. Also, a tavern for drinks and dinner is nearby! Will definitely recommend!

    Angela2018-06-14T00:00:00Z
  • It was a good choice to stay with Doug and Lorraine! The place is clean and cosy !

    Catherine2018-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Doug and Lorraine were very welcoming, their accomodation space was comfortable, immaculate and with all the facilities to make you feel at home. A good base to spend a few days travelling to Wineglass Bay, Bicheno, Elephant Pass etc. We loved meeting you both and Sam. Thank you very much for hosting us.

    Edwina And Andrew2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Doug and Lorraine’s place was a delight. Super spacious, small but efficient kitchen with just exactly everything you need to cook a meal, great WiFi, thoughtful place to put clothing, extremely clean and nice smelling, info on area and surrounds, and a ridiculously cute and sweet small doggie to boot! We only stayed three nights but it would be easy to stay there longer. Breakfast was tasty and plentiful! Thank you for a great stay, Doug and Lorraine!

    Swansea, Tasmania, Australia

We think our architecturally designed house is a perfect romantic getaway. We built it for the view, so you can relax with a coffee/wine and enjoy the best of Tasmania's east coast, in comfort. Stroll along the deserted beach & read or listen to our record collection by the fire.
Private bush and beach setting. Very new architecturally designed one bedroom house. This is a quiet, 'non-touristy' area, but in view of Tasmania's East Coast icons. The beach is really long and it's often hard to spot others enjoying it. Fully self contained. All linen provided. The kitchen has brand new, quality, oven, rangehood, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, kettle, pots, pans, cutlery and crockery etc, etc. No dishwasher I'm afraid. The bathroom has a big shower area, new efficient flush toilet (on a septic system). There is no laundry. But there's a laundromat in Swansea, ten minutes away. And there likely are people close by who work as cleaners and would be willing to do washing. We're on tank water, so there's no spa, and water isn't unlimited. But we haven't needed to be overly careful in the past, to get through the summer with our tanks (10,000L for domestic plus 10,000L reserved for fire). We use water more or less as if we were on the town supply. There is a wood heater and plenty of wood if the weather turns nasty, but this is a warm house, so it's very unlikely you'll need it in the warmer months. There's a renovated record player and a library of records. Key collectable from key-safe at gate. Call us the morning of the day of your arrival, and we'll advise the code. At times we'll be staying nearby and will be available to show guests the property. Very quiet area. Five acre lots with non permanent residents. The beach is often completely empty (all nine miles). Beautiful, abundant bird and wildlife. Open up the big sliders in the morning and listen to the amazing birdlife. Occasionally we see a snake in warmer months, so keep a watch out when you're on the beach track. You can catch flathead off the beach, if you're patient. A kayak will improve your chances. The beach faces due south and catches a consistent swell. It can be really fun to body surf, and occasionally it's wild. You need to be careful with very small children or non-proficient swimmers. But there are safe places for littleuns to swim nearby. From 'the Lighthouse' you are close (45 min) to iconic Coles Bay and Freycinet, and Maria Island ferry service (50min). We won't try to list all the east coast attractions here. Things to do at our place though, include: everything that might involve the view, and coffee and reading and games and music; beach walks or rides; swimming and body surfing; fishing; sailing. Visit yellowbanks on the lagoon, or the mouth of the lagoon where many people fish and swim, and the pelicans and waterbirds are amazing. There is a caravan on the lower quarter of this five acre block, obscured by bush. At times we might be using this caravan, but our guests in the lighthouse will have complete privacy. Guests have a separate track to the beach.

  • A wonderful few days of R&R. The house is as many have described a joy to experience, every window frame paints a beautiful picture. For those with Vodafone you won't have any reception here (like most rural areas of Tas) + no wifi however, it was an added bonus for us to be completely disconnected for a few days.

    Clare2016-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • The place was really nice, we rand our hosts for the key code and never heard from them which was nice to be left to our own space. Lovely spot, great house would stay again

    Sam & Nat2016-01-22T00:00:00Z
  • As per other reviews, this house is as good as other guests have commented. Perfect for a couple looking for seclusion in a very well thought out house. We loved the design, space, sliding doors/windows, views, fireplace & LPs. Only minor annoyance were the march flies but they didn't annoy us or our food. Do book ahead as this place is very popular for a reason! Thank you Lisa & Mick for sharing your amazing house.

    Chi-Keung2016-02-13T00:00:00Z

  • Lisa and Mick were so helpful and very easy to contact. The house was absolutely amazing and we have already started planning when we can get back for a longer stay!! Waking up to that sunrise every morning made my holiday in Tasmania. What a beautiful and peaceful part of the world. Thank you for letting us be a part of it!!

Scarecrow Cottage is a rustic 1850s cottage situated a short 5 minute stroll from Swansea's shops, restaurants and the sea. A great location from which to experience the Great Eastern Drive, check out Freycinet National Park or just enjoy the laid back coastal vibe of Swansea and this beautiful part of the world. Enjoy relaxing by the fire and enjoy the view of the stars at night. A self contained cottage. No Wifi available (public Wifi is a 5 minute walk away). Insta: @scarecrowcottage
Scarecrow Cottage includes two very cosy bedrooms, living room with open fireplace, combined kitchen/dining, bathroom and a large and tranquil private backyard with native bush garden. One bedroom has a queen sized bed and the other has a double bed (the second room has recently been upgraded). Due to the age of the home the bedrooms are small. The whole cottage will be yours. It is a basic homely setting, rather than modern luxury hotel accommodation that you will stay in when booking our partly updated 1800s cottage. Suitable for couples and small families. Entertainment includes a TV and DVD player, a small library and some boardgames. Basic cooking facilities are available including full oven, kettle, microwave and toaster. We have a beautiful fireplace (please bring firelighters and matches) but there is also electric heating should you wish. There is also an older style washing machine which you are free to use. Portacot available on request (linen not provided for portacot). If there is anything we can provide for your stay, please let us know and we will try to accommodate.
Like all spots on the East Coast, Swansea is a quaint coastal town, with limited opening hours at night. Bring your own supplies, or check out the local eateries early before they close. Stock up on supplies at Sorell if you are coming from Hobart. Dining options include the Homestead Restaurant at Piermont, the RSL, Artifakt, Saltshaker, and the Barkmill Tavern (amongst others). We are 5 minutes walking distance from Swansea's main restaurants and shops. Within easy access of two beaches, one being approximately 5 minutes walk and the other being approximately 10 minutes walk from the cottage. Within easy reach of oyster farms, the berry farm and wineries. Some of our guests have loved fishing down at the jetty just minutes walk from the cottage.

    Stephanie2018-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Meg's adorable cottage was a great place to stay in Swansea and suited exactly what I was looking for during my time in Tasmania. It is just a short walk to the centre of town, yet in a private and peaceful location perfect for a relaxing trip. The cottage is well equipped with all the comforts of home and the combination of old with new in the rustic cottage strikes the perfect balance. Meg was helpful and responsive. I will be back to stay.

    Matthew2017-12-24T00:00:00Z
  • Adorable quiet cottage and the perfect get away. The fire place really added to the ambiance of the place. We loved everything about it and were sad to leave. If you are looking to ‘treat yo self’ I highly recommend the Homestead for dinner. Food a service there was amazing.

The Hideaway is a unique beachfront property sitting on a rocky bluff in the historic township of Swansea on the magnificent east coast of Tasmania. Hear the waves lapping on the beach below. Be mesmerized by the 180° views. Relax.
The Hideaway is a place to relax while enjoying the magnificent views over Great Oyster Bay. The 1970s architecturally designed home was built with comfort and simplicity in mind. The décor is a blend of modern and 70s. The home faces north and heats up as the sun rises over the Freycinet Peninsula. Read the paper over a coffee or stroll along Nine Mile Beach (which is literally at your doorstep). Explore the historic and scenic surrounds of Swansea during the day. Put your feet up and laze on the leather couch in front of the open fire in the evening. What ever you do, unwind and enjoy.
Swansea is ideally situated to become your base for exploring the Tasmanian East Coast. It is less than 2 hours to both Launceston and Hobart. It is 45 minutes drive to Freycinet National Park or to the ferry to Maria Island National Park. Swansea is well known for boating, kayaking and fishing. Nearby there are opportunities for bushwalking, mountain biking, surfing and scuba diving.
  • We had a fantastic time at the Hideaway. So quiet and peaceful. The fireplace was an absolute gem! Great place, clean, spacious and close to amenities. Very happy and pleasant stay.

    Emma2016-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay! You are even closer to the ocean than it looks in the pictures - you are about 10 metres from the beach, and you can hear the sound of the waves all the time. The house is bright and clean and well-equipped. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Kristy2017-03-01T00:00:00Z

  • We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous house, that is secluded with sensational views from every window and so close to the beach but close to the Main Street. An easy 45 minute drive to Freycinet Pensula to explore amazing Wineglass Bay and climb Mt Amos. A truly gorgeous house to enjoy all the area has to offer. I would highly recommend this house.

  • Really enjoyed our stay. Location was amazing, so close to (almost above) the beach. Our 1 year old (almost two) and 5 year old loved searching for shells on the beach. The property has everything you need and caters really well for kids. It is a fairly compact house, but was great value compared to other places we stayed in Tasmania. Good wineries nearby also

    Steve2016-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • be prepared to spend a bit more time there.. and to regret how short your stay is.. waking up early before the sunrise is worth the watch... and before the sun sets...walk along the beach until you find a smaller bay of where you find the silhouettes of gum trees and the swans gracefully swims at bay.... absolutely beautifull! Andrew, thank you for making the place available for us to visit!

We have 2 holiday cabins on our 5 acre property just north of Bicheno, a great place to base yourself to see the sites of the east coast of Tasmania. With amazing ocean and big sky views we decided to name our cabins Sea & Sky. Wake to spectacular sunrises over the ocean, sit back and soak up the peace & quiet that comes from being surrounded by nature. In the evening watch the reflective light of a sunset bouncing off the sea & sky and with no light pollution be dazzled by the stars at night.
Sea cabin is one bedroom with queen size bed, en suite bathroom with shower over spa bath. Living, dining and kitchen are all in one. Views from all windows and deck/courtyard area. Breakfast is not provided but teas, plunger coffee and biscuit snacks are left in cabin. It has a well equipped mini kitchen so you can BYO food or can recommend local restaurants or cafes for breakfasts and evening meals in Bicheno. Please note Sky Cabin is available for extra guests and is only available on request. Please CONTACT HOST if you would like to book . Sky Cabin is similar to Sea Cabin, 2 guests, Queen size bed.
We are 4 kms north of Bicheno, an easy drive to pick up supplies or eat out at one of the restaurants. For locally caught seafood try fish and chips at the Gulch. While in town take a look at Waub's Bay fine art gallery and do the foreshore walk. Rosedale Road is the access road to Douglas Apsley National Park where you can swim in the Apsley waterhole and do a 90 minute walk to the Apsley Gorge. Freycinet National Park is 35 minutes drive south and Bay of Fires an hour to the north. While out visit one of the many local wineries to pick up a bottle of wine to enjoy on the cabin deck. The Bicheno golf course is across the road and the wildlife park a few kilometres north. In the evening you can hook up with the Fairy Penguin or Devils in the Dark Tours from Bicheno.
  • Abbiamo avuto un piacevolissimo soggiorno apprezzando in particolare la cordialità di Kim, la fantastica vista sul mare e la funzionalità della struttura. Ottima base per visitare la bellissima East coast della Tasmania.

  • Wonderful stay, thank you. What a view!

    Jessica2016-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights in this beautiful place, we loved it so much we could have easily stayed longer :-) Its certainly one of the best Airbnb we have stayed in! We had the Sea cabin and it was lovely so clean cosy and well appointed and had everything you needed. We also loved the extra touches like condiments and the little bunches of lavender. The views from the cabin of the coastline were amazing. Kym is an excellent host, so friendly and welcoming and gave us some good info on the area. We very much enjoyed our stay and will certainly be back.

    Jayne2016-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • A five minute drive out of Bicheno, the Sea cabin was a great base for exploring the Freycinet NP and surrounding area. Breakfast and late afternoon drinks on the deck were equally enjoyable with the spectacular views of the coast. Kym's recommendations for places to eat were spot on. Thank you for a very comfortable and relaxing stay!

    Val2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • The sea cabin was well equipped (all the amenities except for wifi / reception), comfortable and offers an awesome view. It was truly a beautiful scene just right outside the door step. Kym was very nice and friendly, and even waited for us to arrive late night. If we ever return to Tassie, this place will definitely be in our accommodation list again.

    Celia2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning! Don't think twice. Just book it and go. You will love everything about the trip. The Great Eastern Drive is awesome. Bicheno is just beautiful. And add in a couple of day trips to Freycinet National Park and The Bay of Fires, and you have the perfect getaway. Kym's cabins are comfy, clean, quiet and provide the most wonderful view. It is almost impossible not to relax. The photos don't do it justice. Check out Passinis in town for a delicious meal and picnic provisions. The IGA is also a keeper! Thanks Kym for providing such a wonderful place to recharge and reconnect with nature.

    Belinda2017-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • It was a lovely stay with a beautiful view and completely equipped and contained to cater to every need. Just a short drive from the main town area. Thanks for having us!

    Ryan2016-11-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was one of two (mine was decorated very stylishly with a seaside theme) on a hillside overlooking the sea a few kilometres outside Bicheno. It has fabulous views especially from the verandah and was easy to find given Kym's excellent directions. It was spotlessly clean with everything you could need. The bed was super comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were very well equipped. Kym was a great Host - there if you needed her but not intruding on your privacy. I felt so relaxed and wish I could have stayed longer. The location is perfect for visiting Freycinet National Park

  • Very neat and tidy place, however it needed a few more things for breakfast. At least milk, either long life or fresh.

  • Beautiful little cottage just a 2 minute drive to local shops and restaurants in Swansea. The cottage was very clean and had all the amenities required for our stay, notably a gorgeous spa bath and an incredible selection of classic movies. Would definitely visit again!

    Lucy2018-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous old building in a stunning location. If you're there in winter, be sure to pack extra woolies as you'll need them at night if you don't want to sleep with the fire on. Unfortunately the bath tub leaked which caused a few issues in the bathroom department.

    Bek2018-06-19T00:00:00Z
  • Comfortable and homely cottage in a private location. It was only a short drive to local attractions and we made a day trip to Freycinet National Park. We enjoyed the DVD collection and made use of the laundry facilities.

  • Nice studio with a good location about 10 minutes drive from the park. There are beaches down the block from the studio. Fantastic sunsets at the beach. The studio is just as it is pictured. There is a large deck with partial views to the bay. Though we didn't cook, the kitchen appeared to be well equipped and there is a grill on the deck. There are pods for coffee and we were given 6 pods for our three days. Communications with vernia and her staff were responsive and helpful both during booking and our stay. All in all a nice place to stay if you don't want to stay in the park.

    Dona2017-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • The place was clean and spacious, comfortable with all the required amenities. The only issue was there weren't supply stores nearby so make sure you have your own food etc. if you don't feel like driving out far for dinner. Owner was also prompt in replying and gave good driving instructions to get there.

    Mingwayne2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved it! My partner and I stayed 3 nights and were very happy with our choice. Great apartment with all the essentials, and enough space to relax after a long day walking! Would definitely stay again - we only hoped for more sunshine to enjoy the beautiful verandah!!

Swansea on the Bay is a large holiday home accommodating up to 8 people very comfortably. Central to all attractions of the east coast, situated in a quiet location - one minute walk to the beach. 4 bedrooms, two queen, one double and two single beds. Two living areas and two large bathrooms. There is a beautiful outlook from the large covered deck looking out to the bay. Off-street parking. No wifi, so if this is an issue, reconsider your booking.
There are two sets of four stairs with handrails inside the house. Guests have access to the whole house, deck and garden. We reserve the right to enter the garden during your stay for watering and maintenance.
The cost is $15 for a day's play, $50 for a week, with golf clubs included. Free WiFi is available in the town in numerous locations including the online access centre, for forty minutes, and this time can be extended if you buy something locally to the value of $3. You then obtain a voucher.
  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay and couldn't praise Alison and Rod enough for their warm welcome and fantastic place to stay. Thank you so much for going that extra mile to make our stay a relaxing and special time. This place is a must stay!

    Deborah2017-09-12T00:00:00Z
  • Alison and Rob are very helpful friendly hosts, with lots of suggestions of places to visit locally. Great views from the house of the bay. Very comfortable and well equipped home. Need to go into town for WIFI.

  • We had a wonderful stay in Alison & Rod’s place and enjoyed our time very much. The description of the place was very accurate and we had high expectations, which were more than met. Alison was very nice to interact with and gave us very good recommendations for exploring the area. We will definitely stay with Alison & Rod again on our next visit to Tasmania!

    Tiia2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • I have appreciated Alison and Rod's better than FIVE star accommodation very much. It was a large, stunning beach house, convenient, comfortable and extremely clean. The open fire heater has provided a very classical comfort in the house, it really helped me going through the could winter night. Alison and Rod were so friendly, I felt home straight away. I believe they will maintain their very high quality facilities and warm hospitality, visitors can enjoy it every time when they visit Swansea. Revisiting Alison and Rod's property is strongly considered.

  • Lily is really friendly and warm. She gave us lots of tips of getting around. Wonderful experiences

    Cathy 2018-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lily and Joe were such warm, friendly and helpful hosts. Their farm is slowly burgeoning but you can tell a lot of hard work has gone into it. The animals are friendly and the room is spotless. Thanks for having us!

    Sophia2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lily was very friendly and welcoming, and excellent at keeping in touch when we were en route and running late. She also was quick to offer us a heater on our first night (which was unseasonably chilly) and clean towels before our second night. The studio was clean and large (a queen bed and a bunk) with a fridge and kettle. The bathroom is not exactly ensuite, but outside just across the passageway. A large patio outside the room with bbq and microwave. Location is about an hour's drive from Freycinet National Park. My only comment would be the crockery/cutlery was a bit lacking: just 2 bowls, 2 mugs, 2 glasses, 2 forks and 2 teaspoons. Some plates and some knives might be nice. Also maybe a toaster on the patio? But overall a really nice, quiet place to stay. I'd recommend it.

A modern architecturally designed home, surrounded by native bushland and wildlife, only steps from the beach. The sun rises over mountains and the turquoise waters of the bay: all viewable from the bedrooms, decks and lounge.
Surrounded by natural bushland, you'll wake up to bird calls and a glorious sunrise over mountains and a blue bay. You are 10 minutes drive to the picturesque little town of Swansea with restaurants, galleries and stores (or you can get there with a 20-minute stroll along the beach). And you are on Tassie's East Coast, with beautiful beaches and cliffs and wildlife and food and wine and...
Swansea has won "Tidy Town" awards. It's a quaint little seaside town that still has more than the essential amenities. Along with an (historic) general store, there's a bakery, tavern, restaurants, galleries, pharmacy etc. ..and just outside of town there's berry farms and wineries. The house isn't in Swansea itself, but you can see Swansea down the beach, and walk there easily enough. Instead, the house is surrounded by trees on a large property that backs directly on to the beach.
  • Fantastic house, sensational location! Communication from Scott was timely and clear, couldn't have asked for more. With the BBQ setup and beach location it would be even better over the summer...would love to come back again!

    Glenn2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Stayed for four nights in April, and had a wonderfully relaxing time. The house is light-filled, with amazing views and great privacy. It felt like we were miles from anywhere, but an easy half hour walk along the beach to Swansea. We had some lovely warm days and made use of the decks, but also some cooler days when the heaters were put to good use. There was a portacot and highchair for our toddler son, which were both greatly appreciated. The time absolutely flew by, even though we didn't really do all that much other than sit, chat, eat and drink. There appears to be a great entertainment system, but we didn't even switch the TV on because the view and peace & quiet were so lovely. In short, a beautiful place to get away from it all!

    Alison2017-04-03T00:00:00Z
  • As soon as we walked in my family all said "wowww" at this beautiful house and the stunning view. The kids loved having the beach literally in the back yard, and we slept to the sound of waves at night.

    Naomi2017-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay, so close to beach and absolutely private. Loved everything about our stay. We had one small unforseeable problem and Scott was easy to contact and the problem fixed very quickly. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay on the coast.

  • Loved the beach house – just as it appears in the photos it is a great design, very comfortable in every way, with lots of thoughtful touches which were much appreciated. Great location right on the beach, great view, short car trip or a walk along the beach in to Swansea for supplies. Highly recommended! Wish we could have stayed longer :)

    Julia2016-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying at this beautiful beach house. The location was amazing (1 min walk to the beach and awesome views from the house) and Swansea was just a short drive down the road, with Freycinet National Park close by too. Scott was an excellent host and answered all our enquiries in a friendly and diligent manner. Would definitely recommend a stay at this fantastic house!

  • The place was fantastic and had a brilliant view, good spot for a stopover. Right next to freycinet. Would reccomend and stay again.

  • We were very pleasantly surprised with this place! Immediately on arriving booked in for an extra night. Views from balcony were amazing, place was a lot more charming and cozy than came across in the pics, and we just felt very comfortable and at home! Beautiful beach and dock access within walking distance. We were very warm with the fireplace and radiator heater in the bedroom. Hosts were friendly and helpful (although we did not meet in person). Only negative was that there was no wifi and also no free-to-air TV channels, though some DVDs were provided. However, we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend and stay again in a heartbeat.

  • View from the bedroom to the water and mountains is very peaceful. We had the perfect weather as well. Spacious parking and living area. Place is well maintained. Verina's agent was very accommodating and responsive. We're pretty laid back and easy going so not really a fan of all the house rules some of which we believed were a little bit over the top but understand the purpose - probably had previous bad experiences. Round the corner from the main shops which are very basic and from the cruise which was a 4 hour awesome experience. Also very close to the national park which has a variety of walks. Nice, peaceful stay in a beautiful, quiet location away from the noise of a big city.

  • Lovely home in one of the most beautiful places in the world. The home has an incredible view and is well worth the money. Close to cafes and local tourist centre. This will prove to be a wonderful stay.

  • Beautiful and comfortable ocean view house in a quiet neighborhood. We were very happy with our stay.

  • I did not meet Verina, but the location could not have been better, and the apartment itself was amazing. It was a huge space for 2 couples and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing dinner using the grill on the deck. The fireplace was also wonderful to hang around at night on a cold winter night. Communication with Verina was excellent and the apartment had everything we needed. Thank you for such a great stay.

    Jason2016-08-22T00:00:00Z
  • Such a clean, spacious apartment with a beautiful view out to the hazard mountains and a short walk into town or to the wine bay cruises. You won't be dissaponted booking the top floor of this property. Has everything you need for a short or longer stay. Comfy beds and furniture also. Not much in town, more about being close to the national park entry point, great location for that.

Situated on private 5 acre, a 2 story modern house with windows 180 degrees around and large verandah overlooking Great Oyster Bay and Freycinet Nat Park. Private beach access to 9 Miles of beach. Ten min drive to Swansea cafes shops and supermarket.
  • I can't imagine someone not being blown away by the house and the view. Even after seeing the photos I was totally amazed by the view from the balconies. The house is so impressive - the kitchen bench is this long piece of wood which is beautiful. There is a fireplace and some comfortable chairs to relax in. The house is really open with full length windows facing the view of the ocean and national park. Just up the road is an Oyster farm as well - the local tavern has some nice food but it is well equipped kitchen for you to take your own food.

  • Breathtaking scenery. Amazing house. Wonderful hosts. Came for a relaxing holiday with our 2 boys who enjoyed every bit of it- the fun at the beach and even the kids DVDs to watch. Thank you Betul and Defne for letting us stay at your place. Wonderful memories to bring home from Tasmania.

  • Amazing views, well designed and furnished house. Close to the fantastic beach. Great facilities, thoughtful, respectful hosts.

  • This is a great house with amazing views and easy beach access. It has everything you need, including a well equipped kitchen and BBQ. The hosts are really helpful. Will definitely go back!

  • This is the most wonderful location if you're wanting a quiet and somewhat isolated location. While there are houses nearby we saw very few people on the beach (mid-March). It's 20 mins into Swansea and you can get most of what you need there. It's also a great base centrally located for doing things along the east coast. The house is well fitted - enjoy the spa! But best of all are the views - in all weather - of Great Oyster Bay and Freycinet National Park. Don't miss the sunrises and sunsets - they are spectacular!

  • Wonderful beach house in a lovely secluded spot

  • Betul was very welcoming and responded very quickly to my questions over text & email. The view and position of the house is amazing. It is very peaceful and private. It was a great base from which to explore the local area including the Freycinet Peninsula. Plenty of heaters and fire wood for the fire.

    Nicky2016-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely beautiful! It got quite a few heaters and a fireplace in living room and bedrooms. Also, there were a DVD player in living room. At first, I didn't know how to use it (actually it was my problem), and I asked them though phone call, and they guided me though it very patiently. By the way, they had a bunch of movies. Besides, it got an Ocean around the house. In the morning, I could hear the Ocean was breathing and watching the sky was moving. So excited and excellent, bravo! In the house, it had everything that I need: towels, pans, pots, plates, knifes, all kinds of sauce and so on. I love it so much, I am sure that I would come to your house again! Thank you

Also, if you think Tasmania might be cold in winter, their bed is the warmest you'll ever sleep in! You are supplied with nice breakfast options and the place is extremely good value for money.

  • Ian's place is in a great spot and is very clean and cosy. We stayed for one night and did the Kayak tour of the bay, Wineglass lookout hikes, marine farm feasts, and a spot of fishing off the jetty (all within close proximity of the apartment). Ian communicated clearly and our stay was extremely easy and problem free. Good facilities for cooking if you don't feel like restaurant food, and there is a small grocer/convenience store just down the road.

    Michael2017-06-13T00:00:00Z

    Coles Bay, Tasmania, Australia

Absolute waterfront, colonial charm, five minutes by car from Coles Bay shops, Wifi, TV, washer, stunning sunsets, friendly birdlife, sunny courtyard sheltered from wind, cosy bedrooms, smart new bathroom and eclectic artwork. Go out and explore, stay in and relax. It's all yours!
Modelled on a colonial cottage in Richmond, this apartment combines the charm of "ye olde" with modern touches. The simple galley kitchen is well-equipped and includes a toaster, microwave, small oven, two-plate stove, sandwich press, rice cooker, fresh coffee beans or ground coffee, coffee grinder and French press, black, green and herbal tea, milk, olive oil, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Both bedrooms have Balinese bed linen; the main bedroom is a double, and the other is small and cosy. The artwork has been collected from all corners of the globe. A paradise for keen kayakers, birdwatchers (binoculars provided) and for gourmands with the oyster, scallop and mussel farm just two minutes away, and vineyards twenty minutes away.
Old Boat Cottage is surrounded by trees and is the third last house along the bay. This provides great opportunities for solitary walks, peace and privacy. Two wooden chairs on the waterfront provide the perfect place for a glass of Tassie wine at sunset. The shallow bay is fantastic for kayaking and bird watching. Birds seen on a regular basis include fairy wrens, scarlet robins, black swans, pelicans, yellow-tailed black cockatoos, New Holland honeyeaters and kookaburras. Coles Bay shops are just five minutes away by car, and Freycinet National Park entrance is 10 minutes away. Oysters, scallops and mussels can be bought two minutes up the road, and excellent wineries are twenty to thirty minutes away along the road to Swansea. Bicheno is a twenty-five minute car trip.
  • Old Boat Cottage is in a spectacular location for walking in the nearby Freycinet National Park. Suzanne was very accommodating of our request to stay at short notice (the same day) and it was a delightfully, relaxing place to stay.

    Cate2018-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • This has been our very first trip to Tasmania, and we found Suzanne's place a perfect home-away-from-home experience. Suzanne is a very caring, thoughtful host who even kindly led us to a nearby supermarket in Coles Bay town at the first evening of our stay. Every room is nicely decorated with pleasant artifacts and arts Suzanne collected from her globe-trotting days (as she explained in her house rules book). My 10-yr-old daughter particularly liked the little platypus (a stuffed animal) in her bedroom. A nice hidden gem is the ocean front view just in front of her garden... we had an easy access through a lovely, small wooden gate to the garden, and I enjoyed the sunset sitting at an outside chair just a few steps away from the beach. One nice surprise was that Suzanne has an experience of living in Japan and speaks Japanese! That's something we wouldn't expect when traveling around such a far away island like Tasmania. Her place is definitely one of our best air bnb experiences ever!

    Takashi2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Suzanne's. My mum and I came to Tasmania for the first time for a week's holiday and found the place comfortable, warm and homely, everything you need when returning 'home' after exploring all Tas has to offer. Perfect location 15 minutes from Freycinet National Park and incredibly quiet and cosy for a good night's sleep. Suzanne's thoughtful local tips helped us to make the most of our stay. 10/10, thanks Suzanne!

  • We loved this place, fabulous location. Suzanne is a wonderful and knowlegable host and local historian. I’d love to spend an evening with her getting more aquatinted about Tassie and learning of her other world travels...which are vast and varied. A fabulous host and property. Thanks Suzanne.

The capsule room is heated from May to September included, and from 8pm to 8am. Linen and towel are provided, customers have to prepare their bed by them self.

  • The location is perfect for anyone having an east coast adventure. The kitchen is large and has plenty of utilities and utensils for your use, and is next to one of the best bakery/tavern/museums in the region. Definitely value for money!

    Samuel2018-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • True WYSIWYG accommodations. WiFi was fast, next door restaurant and liquor store were convenient, communal bathrooms/showers and kitchen a nice touch. It's a bit cold at night (many windows, not very insulated) so definitely bring warm cozy clothes and plan accordingly. Kind of annoying to have to make your own bed (and a bit difficult in the capsule arrangement) but you get what you pay for and overall it's a very good deal. Great place to stay if you plan to explore the Freycinet National Park.

Waterline is an elevated and spacious open plan house with 3 bedrooms. An expansive deck to sit & relax and take in the view. All the main rooms have stunning views out over Great Oyster Bay, the estuary of the Swan River and Nine Mile Beach.
Stunning ocean views, only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Open plan living with views from all main rooms. Floor to ceiling windows in living area.
Very peaceful & quite. Waterline is on a dead end street, so hardly any cars. Great for family and kids to ride bikes etc

  • The house is very spacious with great view (it would be even greater if there is no trees blocking our sea view). The unit was not far from Freycinet National park (in between the Park and Freycinet Marine Farm). The wifi connection was stable as well. Would definitely recommend this place, especially for big group of travellers.

    Yee Han2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely view of the ocean and clean with great decor when we checked in. You get wonderful sights of the winged neighbours in the morning. Just be careful of the friendly six-legged locals at night if you leave the corridor lights on. There's a book provided in front of the television that gives you tips on how to get around the area. It's only a 5 minute drive from the marine farm, and 10 minutes from the Coles Bay town centre. 15-20 minutes from the Pondering Frog, whose Mocha Ice Cream I can't recommend enough :) The house is a short distance from the beach, with two ways to get there. There's a path with quite a fair stretch of trees and weeds that's not the best if you have shorts and flip flops on, but you can also find access to the beach if you walk by the main road, with less vegetation!

    Jacky (Jia Hui)2016-11-22T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect ocean view, located right between the Marine Farm and Freycinet National park which we planned to visit.

  • My hubby & I loved our stay at Wavesong. What a gorgeous beach cottage, spacious with all the mod cons, but at the same time it was romantic and cosy. Perfect location. We took lots of beach walks from the house and enjoyed our couple of days in Bicheno. There is so much to see & do in the area. It was the perfect base for local sights and day trips to the Freycinet National Park. Also great for a relaxing time too. There is nothing nicer than falling asleep to the sound of the ocean waves. Bliss. Lara was a wonderful host. She checked in on us to make sure we arrived and settled in & nothing was too much trouble when we needed a few things. I would highly recommend a stay in this lovely, quaint cottage. Thanks again Lara

    Kate2017-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect picturesque and quiet location. We were so pleased we stayed in Bicheno and was only a short trip to Freycinet. Lara’s place was spacious, warm, light filled and clean. The kitchen also had everything we needed. We loved having a fire with pre chopped wood.

    Andrew2017-11-06T00:00:00Z
  • The place was clean, warm & cosy with a fire place and plenty of firewood. The bay just through a track down the back garden was absolutely beautiful! Can't believe this place was so peaceful.

    Brendan2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • This beautiful quiet sanctuary was perfect for our getaway. Lara had thought of everything, and was very easy host to deal with. The place has a beautiful relaxed vibe, with close attention for detail, as if you are staying at a home away from home! the only downfall is we didnt stay here long enough. Thank you to Lara and her family for the stay xx

The house is new and architecturally designed. It has feature rammed earth walls and a large open plan dining, lounge and modern style kitchen with quality appliances. A large deck provides uninterrupted views of beaches and the Hazards Mountains.
  • The Loft was an absolute dream. Cannot recommend this location and home highly enough. The rooms were gorgeous, the beds were comfy, lots of space, great kitchen and bathrooms and most of all THAT VIEW! Don't even second guess this location, it's perfection.

    Alex2016-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had an incredible stay at the loft. Spectacular views and amazing home. We came in the summer months and it was very comfortable inside. The loft would be a wonderful place to stay in the winter time as well with a fire place and outdoor fire pit. I will happily return and recommend this home to friends and family.

  • the Loft is an extremely superb place to stay!! excellent for big group of ppl, yet still comfy! the house is so well-designed that we hadn't enjoyed (Website hidden by Airbnb) also provides you with lots of entertainment: lots of DVDs, board games and PS3!!! after all, facing the Freycinet is just relaxing!! was a pity that we were only staying one night...would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the Freycinet!!

    Jennifer2016-04-01T00:00:00Z

The Blue House is located right on the waterfront. You can stroll along the waters edge. It is safe for families & children to swim and run around. You can hire kayaks which are stored at the house. Great fishing spots along the waterline. There are fantastic views, watch some of the most spectacular sunsets while relaxing on the deck, having a BBQ, eating local oysters with perhaps a glass of locally produced wine. The interior is modern and fully self contained. There are games for the kids.
It is a safe place to swim and kayak. We have kayaks for you to hire.
The Blue House is set in a peaceful setting and a quite street.
  • House was clean and tidy. There is limited access to the beach from the back of the house, otherwise a short stroll along the road to the jetty or beach front. Swanwick is roughly 6km from Coles Bay town centre. Swanwick has no shops, and the shops at Coles Bay have limited offerings. We had a 10 month old and the steep staircase presented some trouble. Main bedrooms are located upstairs. Bathroom and toilet are downstairs.

    Matthew2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Verinas place was in a perfect location as advertised. We had all the necessities left for us including board games which we enjoyed playing on the deck! Lots of space and all kitchen amenities as we cooked in.

    Amy2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Good location for exploring the area and ideal if you like kayaking. House is well taken care of and well equipped for rainy days (games, films, internet super fast). Communication with Verina was extremely fast and smooth.

  • Great house! With great view.

  • This was a wonderful stay! The house is simply lovely. Very comfortable with everything you could wish for to have a great stay. The kitchen was well appointed and the beds very comfortable. We were thrilled to find the house with welcoming lights on, soft music playing and the heaters on in the rooms. The deck afforded a delightful view and I highly recommend The Blue House.

    Deb2018-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the tranquil location and sitting on the upper deck. The evening skies were amazing. A very handy spot to venture off to Freycinet National Park from.

    Nancy2018-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • cozy place and lovely view of the lagoon. bed had heaters which were perfect for us. room was a little dusty but that's alright for a nights stay. remember to buy food and drinks from elsewhere before heading to coles bay because food is limited and overpriced nearby. verina was nice to talk to and thanks for the stay :)

Our unit is fresh, simple, and a perfect spot to base yourself while exploring the Freycinet Peninsula & greater east coast region. A free standing unit next to main house on private property, 5 mins drive from the village of Coles Bay. Ideal for double or single accommodation. There is no view from the unit. It's a pleasant outlook & cosy deck, with a glimpse of the hazards; you're a short walk from a beach, but if you are looking for a hero shot from your balcony, we're not for you.
We are perfect for a single person getaway, or a quiet retreat for a couple. We share a driveway, yard and access ways, but there is adequate privacy between the 2 buildings so that we do not see each other unless we are both "out and about". Our water supply is solely rainwater, caught in private tanks. We are very grateful if you can be mindful of water consumption as we are in an extremely low rainfall area. We try to avoid buying water too often, not only for the cost, but because we love being able to enjoy, and offer, fresh tasting, untreated water.
  • Hazard's Escape is the perfect place to spend your time in Freycinet, it's a great location with a convenience store and a nice restaurant just a short drive away. It has everything you need and is designed simply yet stylish. Truly enjoyed my stay there and can't wait to return there when I visit Tasmania again!

  • Our stay at Ros's airbnb was short, but perfect. It was quite large and had all the amenities we needed. Ros greeted us upon arrival and gave us a map and showed us where everything was, which was extremely helpful. The place was very clean and quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

  • Thanks Ros for wonderful accommodation in Coles Bay. Our unit was very clean, modern and had everything we needed for our stay. Great value for the money and close to everything. This was a perfect spot for our stopover to Freycinet. Thanks!

  • The apartment looks even better in real life compared to the photos. It has everything you need and is in close proximity to the seafood farm and freycinet national park. Ros was friendly and provided amazing recommendations in the area.

    Arnold2015-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay at Ros's place. It was clean, decorated with gorgeous pictures of the area, and perfectly located to explore Freycinet. Ros's local tips were great and there was everything we needed for a peaceful escape. Highly recommend staying here if you are looking for accomodation in the Coles Bay area.

Still the most popular Airbnb in Bicheno. This is a cosy little Beach Cottage right in the heart of beautiful Bicheno. The cottage is small but very comfy, quirky and original - everything you want from an Airbnb experience. It can sleep 4 people inside and has a beautifully restoredcaravan in back yard for 2-3 more people. We have 2 PENGUINS that live in the back yard, an outdoor fire pit (think Game of Thrones). So close to the beach with BBQs, bikes, surfboards, dive gear.
This beach cottage is the perfect little weekend escape. It is small, but very cute and comfy with nice furnishings and everything you need for your holiday. My cottage is unique because its situated right next to the quiet main road of town, so its really easy access into town and across the road to the main beaches. It can comfortably sleep 4 - 6 people. The cottage has a nice cosy lounge room with a log fire for those chilly nights and a sun bed next to large open windows to fall asleep on as you read a book, separate double bedroom with a queen size bed and a separate single bed, small dining area and large kitchen with stove, oven, microwave. Separate bathroom and toilet. Outside the backdoor is a nice undercover deck area with BBQ and nice deck chairs, a large open backyard with some nice trees and a big stone FIRE pit to drink wine around and stargaze after a hard days walking, diving or surfing (think Game of Thrones). There is also a vintage/retro caravan that is nicely appointed inside with a single and double beds and storage space (perfect for kids to sleep in). At the rear of the yard is a shed with some old push bikes, old diving gear and bodyboards for surfing. The backyard gets beautiful afternoon sun, and is wind protected. The front of the cottage also has a nice new deck with table/chairs and gets really nice morning sun. The property is situated next to the quiet main road of Bicheno, so its a short five minute walk across to the 2 best beaches of Bicheno, Red Bill Beach and Waubs Beach. The house sits across the road from the main penguin walking track and we also have penguins that come and nest under the house and caravan... you will spot them if you're quiet. The house itself is a short walk into town or quick bike ride. Im an avid book collector and there is a wide range of literature in the cottage.
Bicheno is the jewel of Tasmania's East Coast and the gateway to the world famous Freycinet National Park and Wine Glass Bay. A picturesque town famous for its sandy beaches, mild climate and sunny weather. The cleanest blue water you will ever see. A very popular destination for holiday makers and retirees looking for their idyllic sea change. The town has many attractions to entertain and enthuse visitors of all ages and is the best place to base your east coast activities from. It has some of the best scuba diving in Australia - there is a scuba school in town, so you can book in to get your license, or just free dive the many rocky spots - lots of crayfish and abalone to be found. Great for surfing, fishing, bush walking, beaches, wine tasting, chess tasting, penguin watching, golf etc. Bicheno is ideally located, taking under two hours drive from Launceston and Hobart. Weather Bicheno is famous for its mild climate. There are no winter frosts or fogs. The average rainfall is only 700mm per year. The hours of sunlight are amongst the highest in the world and the temperature fluctuates between 12 degrees in winter and 31 degrees in summer. High sunshine hours and favourable winter and summer temperatures are a perfect combination for producers of pip and stone fruit, being the largest producing area of East Coast and the second largest producer of wine grapes. Bicheno has a supermarket, chemist, hotel, bakery, service station, Bendigo bank with a 24 hour ATM machine, numerous motels and restaurants, an extremely well stocked hardware store, a Post Office and a newsagency so all life's necessities are readily available.
  • Bassett made us feel really welcome and texted me several times to check arrival times and what we needed in regards to bedding. He also texted to see how the holiday was going and if there was anything we needed. His lovely mother met us at the cottage and showed us around. There was fresh bread and milk which was another great touch. The personal touch made us feel very welcome and very looked after. The shack was fantastic - great decor, cozy, very clean and tidy, a fabulous book collection, great outdoor space with even games for the kids. The location was brilliant - a 2 min walk to stunning beaches. I would throughly recommend Bassett's Shack.

    Amy2015-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is fanastic! Bassett kept in touch to see how things we going and his lovely mum greeted us when arrived. Location was brilliant, one street away from beach, 15 minute walk to shops. Loved Bicheno - great walks, stunning beaches, great weather and just enough shops. House was fantastic. Very cool retro decor, great back yard big enough for game of cricket with kids and complete with wild rabbit. Inside was cosy, beds comfortable and warm. Great selection of books. We had a wonderful holiday and would highly recommend this place. Will def be back!!

    Amy2014-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Gail (Bassett's mum) made us feel very welcome. She's just lovely. We met big Bassett too (dropping off firewood supplies. Lovely also:) The cosy fire was so comforting on arrival. This gem of a place is really the ultimate beach abode. We instantly felt relaxed and something about the place brings back many fond memories of beach holidays from the past. The cottage is full of character and charm. We are so glad we choose to pass through and stay in Bicheno as part of our two week Tassie road trip. It is a beautiful place...even mid winter- we got very lucky with some mild weather...Kev even headed to the beach for a surf (thanks Gail and Bassets for loan of board). Red Bill beach- just minutes from the cottage is a stunning beach. Great spot for day trips to Wineglass bay too. We loved (kids especially) looking for penguins at night - think we found 10-12 :). Thanks so much Gail and Bassett(s) for creating such a gem and sharing it round. Liz, Kev, Mieka and Manni

    Liz2016-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • Basset's has home lives up to its description. It's a fascinating place, at once, interesting and cosy. Fireplace, penguins, beach, sun, local community, books and scrabble. We really loved our time here.

    Otillo2016-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • We felt very welcome from the start. Gail and Bassett were very helpful and kind. The house is perfectly located between a surf beach and a calm bay beach; supermarkets, post office and restaurants all in easy reach. The cottage itself is beautiful and has all necessary appliances. The garden and the fire place were well appreciated. We enjoyed our stay very much and would come back anytime.

    Christoph2014-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • An absolutely beautiful location, a 5 minute walk from the beach which comes to life with penguins at night. Gail meet us on arrival and was a great host. The house was cozy and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

    Sophia2015-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place. Cosy is certainly the right word. The house seem to have been lovingly restored to its original beach-shack 1950s(?) state with a bit of modern pizzazz added. Bassett was probably the most helpful and thoughtful host I've encountered through AirBnB.

    Hans2015-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • This beach cottage is extremely lovely, clean and comfortable. It is not directly next to the beach but you only have to walk a short distance to get there. We had the whole house to ourselves for 2 days and Bassett's parents very kindly lit the fire in the fireplace for us on both nights. Gail (Bassett's mom) is very friendly and helpful and offered to bring us to see some penguins on our second night if we were not able to see them the first night. Definitely enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bicheno!

  • Quiet, comfortable and stylish. Check in was easy and William was helpful. Very private and close to the beach however the beach was a bit seaweedy for a swim. A great place to explore the Freycinet national park from. Try the oysters up the road. They are amazing!!

  • Fantastic location, seconds from the beach. A beautifully presented and well equipped home, there was everything and more that you could need for a great holiday. Communication was outstanding, with a super easy check in. We had an amazing stay and would absolutely recommend. Will definitely be back!

  • The Beach Pod was an amazing place to stay. Stylish and clean, with excellent access to the beach. Check in was really simple.

    Teghan2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately our stay at Kunst Pod was far too brief - just a short overnighter as we were passing through but a stay we thoroughly enjoyed nonetheless. William’s place is in a great location with direct access to the beautiful beach. The property was clean and comfortable with everything you could need for your visit. I would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend this property to others.

    Steph2018-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at William's. We were able to enjoy local wine and oysters in a modern comfortable place. Only a minute walk to the beach where we had the whole place to ourselves, apart from the neighbours dogs who ran out and smothered us with doggy love.

    Tom2018-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great place, just minutes from the beach and William was very accommodating.

Bring your kayaks and explore the river and coastline or bring your boat and launch it from the beach or from the MaST recommended boat ramp five minutes away. With so much to do - and so much beauty to admire while just relaxing, Lisdillon is the perfect place for your holiday.
  • The Blacksmith's Cottage exceeded our expectations! The cottage is located on a winery/sheep farm, so it's very secluded, perfect for a quick getaway. We sat by the wood fire at night, stared up at the stars (we could even see the Milky Way) and cooked in the well-equipped kitchen. The private beach is stunning, too. Only thing to be mindful of is the bumpy driveway (we have a little car), but that was the only thing we noticed wasn't 100%. Everything else was better than we could've imagined. Thanks Katherine, Jane and Richard

    Danielle2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great cosy and rustic escape with wonderful views. It's a great spot to really connect with east coast Tasmania, and I would highly recommend!

    Rudy2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • The Blacksmiths cottage was great for a couple of days stay, it’s close to other accommodation on the property but quite a distance to Swansea so a car is required and bring your supplies of food and water with you. We loved the close proximity of the beach and rivulet.

    Carly2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • The Blacksmiths cottage was clean, cosy and warm. Beautiful view of the river from the bedroom window to wake up to and the ocean is close by enough to hear the waves. Only a short walk down to the beach which we enjoyed daily walks on and had a great time exploring. The description of the cottage is accurate, so do take all your own food as there is only basic store cupboard supplies but there is an oven, stove top and microwave and all the cooking equipment and crockery you will need. The outside deck area is a lovely space to enjoy breakfast in the morning. The perfect location for a relaxing, romantic holiday.

    Rachael2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • A great location, amazing private beach and an easy drive to Freycinet NP. Wine made with grapes on property was a bonus. Only stayed two nights, would have been good to book for longer.

  • The Blacksmith’s Cottage is a gem. Highlight of our trip around Tassie. Gorgeous location- secluded with access to a private beach. Katherine has thoughtfully setup the cottage and the beds are comfy. There’s a lovely outdoor balcony area too. Stairs were steep but not an issue for us (older kids) We stayed two nights but wish we’d stayed another. Thanks Katherine for a wonderful stay. Would love to visit again :-)

  • Lisdillon is an amazing spot. Blackman's Cottage was spotless, brand new and well equipped. The property is amazing with gorgeous views and a spectacular private beach. It is fairly remote so be prepared to drive a ways for meals unless you are cooking. The ultimate retreat and cannot recommend it enough!

    Sio2017-09-27T00:00:00Z

  • An incredibly comfortable little cottage in a spectacularly beautiful setting. Perfect for those who want a quiet, private getaway somewhere unique. Seeing the sheep grazing right out the front of the house was so delightful, and the private beach was so cool (though would probably be very cold in the winter months!). The kitchen was a highlight for those who like to stay in and cook their own food, with brand new great quality appliances and cookware. Absolutely perfect for a couple wanting to relax and recharge.

  • Without a doubt the most amazing place for a couple of days of R&R and best AirBnB we’ve stayed at in a long time. Old Shepherd’s cottage, roaming sheep and private beach out the back...what more could you ask for?! The house is beautifully renovated and nicely decorated and furnished. The communication was fantastic and Katherine and Jane were lovely hosts. It’s a great place to simply relax or explore Wineglass Bay and Maria Island. Do yourself a favour and book this beautiful place. You won’t regret it. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

  • Shepherds Cottage is full of surprises. On the outside it has an old world look but inside it has all the amenities one needs for a comfortable, relaxing stay. Walking along the beaches and through the paddocks was refreshing even though the weather was wintery. Warming up by the fire, enjoying a coffee from the machine supplied and blissfully watching the sheep graze outside the window was a great way to unwind. The nearby coastal towns were also another treat as we discovered and enjoyed their specialties.

  • This lovely cottage has been recently refurbished and has large windows with beautiful views across the river. The area is very quiet and scenic so it was perfect for a peaceful and relaxing stay. Thank you!

  • Don't miss booking this one. The cottage is divine and the setting both tranquil and spectacular. We walked around the property, fished in the lake and off the private beach, had a fire going and took time to disconnect and enjoy being with each other.

  • Absolutely wonderful. I really recommend it. We stayed 2 nights and it ought to have been three!

  • We loved the Shepard's cottage, it's been thoughtfully renovated and a short walk to a private beach. The kitchen is amazing, with a great stove and knives. The whole house was comfortable, clean and convenient. You will need to bring your own bottled water. It's a perfect couple's getaway on a scenic farm. Probably not suited for children. The bathroom is downstairs while the bedroom is upstairs something to think about if you're elderly or pregnant or use the bathroom in the night. There is no laundry. You'll be experiencing a little piece of history as the cottage is one of several clustered together that were once a village. It would be great if you had friends or family and you each wanted your own space. The beach is a few hundred meters away although there are no views of it from the cottage, but you can see the rivulet. It's a lovely wide, white beach with a bit of surf. There were jelly fish while we were there in January that sting but are not highly dangerous. It's a 20 minute drive to Swansea which has lots of amenities, cafes, stores etc. 10 minute drive to Piermont restaurant which is exquisite. Our hosts were friendly, prompt and we had lots of privacy.

  • We have stayed in a number or air bnb s around the world. The pictures clearly represent the reality of what you get. Great farm experience in the comfort of luxury home. Amenities were first class, and bedroom was nice and fresh. Would recommend to anyone visiting the area to set as a base for further exploring in Freycinet and surrounds.

  • Kate’s studio is right in the centre of Bicheno, simple but elegantly designed with thoughtful touches. There’s full amenities for cooking in the studio, and Kate has placed plentiful breakfast choices in the fridge & kitchen cabinet. Check in was effortless, Kate was there with her daughter Nina to welcome us as soon as we parked in front of the studio. She was so easy to talk to and made us feel very warm. We would recommend this studio to any travelers visiting the East Coast of Tassie.

  • We had the most lovel stay in Kate’s studio. The design and fitout of the studio was perfect and it was so clean and tidy. Kate also went above and beyond as a host and organised the return of some items we accidentally left behind. We will definitely be back again and have already been recommending this accommodation to our friends

  • Kate’s place is a real gem. It’s clean and stylish and has a special feel. Kate is a lovely host and I couldn’t recommend her air bnb more.

  • Kate’s place is a beautiful studio with all the amenities one would need. It was stylish and clean, with a parking space just outside. She provided us with toiletries and towels, and many brochures with recommendations on what to do around Bicheno. The studio consisted of a bed and kitchenette, and a bathroom. Very cozy and comfortable! We highly recommend Kate’s place if you’re staying a night in Bicheno.

  • If you need a place to stay in the beautiful coastal town of Bicheno - then look no further. Kate was great at communicating and greeted us so warmly. The space is fantastic. Seperate from the house and very private. It’s in a great neighbourhood and only minutes walk from the beach and shops. Very modern, clean, great shower and lovely big comfy bed. All the amenities are there if you wanted to make a spread but close to the shops if not. It had a lot of character and we loved our stay there. Thanks Kate!!

Bicheno is a small town of about 650 permanent residents. In summer time the population grows enormously. In winter time, it is quiet but we enjoy mild weather conditions and clear sunny days. Bicheno's central location makes it the perfect base to explore the East Coast. Day trips to the north and south can be comfortably achieved, from Freycinet National Park to Bay of Fires & Pyengana including St Columba Falls. There are nice walking tracks around Bicheno itself as well as miles of white sandy beaches. There are a couple of tour options such as Penguin Tours, Devils in the Dark and Glass Bottom Boat. Several local restaurants, some specialising in local seafood and an abundance of wineries in the region. There is also the Douglas Apsley National Park which is 12km from the town centre. This is a Eucalypt forest with a pristine water hole just 5 minutes’ walk from the car park and longer walks into the gorge. Natureworld - featuring Tasmanian Devils is 7km north.

  • We really appreciated out stay at Suzanne and Cameron. The room was clean and comfy. There was a heating bed, very nice after a day hike! It was not too long to the Cradle hikes by car, approx 30 to 40'. Suzanne and Cameron were also very reactive for messaging and giving us informations. We also enjoyed a lot the very good and fresh home made bread and cherry jam :) I really advise to anyone who would like to visit the Cradle mountains area.

  • Great place to stay in Bicheno, from checking in Suzanne was great with communication to ensure we vot our keys to our room. Fantastic bed and heating, close enough to the main strip of shops and cafes but quiet enough at night to rest. Nothing to really complain about really! One of the best experiences we've had yet on Airbnb.

  • We enjoyed our 2 night stay. The accommodation was clean and tidy, close to everything and well priced. The shared facilities worked fine.
