Welcome to Chapel Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Chapel Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage, which dates back to the 17th century, and is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. There are also a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants, making Bourton perfect for guests of all ages. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!

There is a three seater and a two seater leather sofa plus a leather pouff, as well as a pretty window seat.Other facilities include a Smart TV with Netflix access, and a DAB radio with an iPod docking station. The dining area has a lovely flagstone floor, and contains an antique wooden dining table with four chairs and a window seat, which overlooks the front garden; Kitchen: A doorway leads through to the country-style kitchen, which overlooks the garden. This well presented room has an electric oven, four ring gas hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. There is a stable door out from the kitchen to the courtyard garden at the back of the cottage. A steep, winding staircase leads up from the living room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom 1: A lovely room with whitewashed stone walls and oak beams, which contains a double bed, a chest of drawers with a mirror, and hooks to provide hanging space; Bedroom 2: Another stylish room, which contains a king size bed, and hooks to provide hanging space; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet and wash basin. Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. The Village Restaurant & Tearooms (www.thevillagerestaurant.co.uk): Traditional, home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere, overlooking the river Windrush, in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water.

This is an unusual space in a beautiful Cotswold garden. It is very calming and romantic. In addition you could rent the Quintessential Cotswold Cottage located in the same romantic garden
    The never ending beauty.
Grazie Dolly!

    Sequoia2020-01-03T00:00:00Z

    Shing2019-12-06T00:00:00Z
  • Piccola "piccola casa" adorabile, così unica e meravigliosamente decorata.

The neighbourhood is picturesque, steeped in history & very safe (since the English Civil War of the 1640's was concluded!) The Cotswolds is filled with lovely places to dine out - there is a nice village pub, The Red Lion, within walking distance. Please just ask for any recommendations of places to visit during your stay. Chastleton House is a mile away & described as the finest example of a Jacobean Country House in England. Little Compton has a Stunning Manor House with Saxon/Norman Church adjoining. The Walks from The Garden Room are spectacular, for example, an hour & half walk through fields will take you to Long Compton & another Red Lion for lunch perhaps?.. equally fabulous food.

Shepherds View is a Shepherds Hut with one double bedroom, shower room, toilet, microwave, sink and hob. Outside there is a decking area with table, chairs and firepit. It is set in glorious countryside with it's own parking. The firepit can also be used as a bbq, but if you intend to use it please bring fire lighters, kindling and some logs. Most of these can be bought at garages. We can supply enough logs for one night at a cost of £5.00 on arrival.

    Ashlea2019-11-10T00:00:00Z

  • Piccolo posto incantevole - completamente all'altezza delle aspettative

    Steve2019-10-27T00:00:00Z

This 300 year old cottage has an abundance of period features, is comfortably furnished and well equipped. There are 2 double bedrooms +single fold down guest bed and a child's cot. The beautiful village of Kingham is just a 30 minutes from Oxford and 90 minutes from London Paddington.
The village was voted "England's favorite village" by Country life magazine and by the Sunday Times newspaper, as one of England's best places to live and most fashionable place to live in the UK, it has its own station with services in to London Paddington (90 mins) and Oxford (30 mins), there are two great traditional pub's/restaurants in the village, the Michelin star Wild Rabbit pub was voted pub of the year 2015 by the Michelin Guide and reviewed by the Daily Mail as England's poshest pub. The Kingham Plough is an award wining gastro pub, reviewed by the late AA Gill, the former Sunday Times food critic....." the kitchen is a serious restaurant work place. The bar menu is as fine as any Ive seen, any one thinking of opening a local pub restaurant should come here and see the gold standard ". All are within a short walk from the cottage. Also near by is the renowned Dailsford organic farm and spa. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside, great for long walks and being the very hart of the Cotswold's, close to many places of historic interest.
Great little village, nestling in the very hart of the Cotswold's, one of England's areas of outstanding natural beauty and historic significance, there is a local village shop/post office, were you can get cash back over the counter, 3 great places to eat or just have a drink, all have nice outside spaces to enjoy in the sunshine and log fires, lovely village green with small play area and public transport. SO A CAR IS NOT ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY.

Not a country cottage so no low ceilings, dark rooms and draughts..just well insulated and thoughtfully designed cabin with large windows to take advantage of the views. Definitely not glamping either as full facilities. Not located on a picture postcard street, just in large garden at end of quiet cul de sac but with main road running behind cabin. No struggle to find parking as ample space in own courtyard. Priced so I can afford to include all the little extras that guests value.
Visiting on own or as a couple then enjoy Super King bed but easily splits into twins. Space in bedroom for cot and single folding bed or double inflatable mattress available for use in Sitting Room. Might be a bit cosy but great if only for a night or two. I have furnished in shabby chic style but with quality items all repurposed to create comfortable but functional environment. Love this quote left in visitor book "You close the door behind you and you've entered a secluded little retro world" You want a bit of peace and quiet well that is relative as most of my guests are escaping town life so find it very tranquil and scarcely notice road that runs at back of property. Others notice at first but soon realise view is more of a distraction especially when dining alfresco or enjoying the stars due to village Dark Sky status. Do remind guests that will need a torch when walking back from excellent Red Lion as no street lights. Having family members with disabilities I am aware of problems finding suitable accommodation so have designed with that in mind - not the complete set up but Octogenarian wheelchair bound friend stayed and he and wife found perfect for their needs. No sumptuous cottage garden - I'm the gardener so have to be realstic. Managed to save a few mature trees during build process in 2015 and much new planting that will be magnificent in couple of years but in meantime my natural border does include grasses and thistles as after all a weed is only a plant in wrong place and bees and butterflies love. Also have bird feeders and nesting box just outside bedroom window and blue tits particuarly love. Have thought about privacy carefully as their are occupants in main property but layout has been thought through to ensure everyone has own space without infringement on others enjoyment. Have had usual trials with IT but now have cabled connection to router and reliable service. Though most of my guests seem to really enjoy 'turning phones off' and listening to late Aunt's eclectic vinyl collection on multi media player. Similarly there is a TV but not dominant plasma screen just one discreetly tucked into corner. Have had guests for long term stays so always happy to discuss options if you need a base while working away or if between house sales.
Little Bulpits (field for Bulls) was Old English field name of field before development and hence unusual name for this property. Long Compton is a charming Cotswold Village located in Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and excellent walking area (MacMillan Way). On A3400 with Oxford and Stratford on Avon both 20 miles. The Rollright Stones are located on edge of parish. There is a well stocked village shop 5 minutes walk away and popular village pub 10 minutes walk. Local towns are Chipping Norton, Moreton in Marsh and Shipston on Stour. Whichford Pottery, Cotswold Distillery and Hook Norton Brewery located in neighbouring villages. Oxford, Stratford upon Avon, Chipping Campden, Stow on the Wold, Daylesford Farm Shop, Blenheim Palace and Compton Verney Art Gallery are both within half an hours drive

Io raccomanderei.

Welcome to Heath Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Heath Cottage is a beautiful, Grade II listed cottage, located close to the heart of the famous Cotswolds market town of Stow-on-the-Wold. Sitting on top of a hill, Stow is well known for its many antique shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as for the many lovely walks through the surrounding Cotswold countryside that are accessible directly from the town. The history of the town is beautifully preserved, including a medieval stone cross in the market square, the old town stocks and a number of alleyways for the passage of sheep being herded to market. Stow is also ideally positioned for exploring the wider region, including the many beautiful towns and villages of the Cotswolds, as well as further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Heath Cottage is located at the end of a short row of Cotswold stone cottages. The front door opens directly from the street into the dining room, and the following rooms are on the well laid out ground floor area: Living room: A spacious, dual aspect room, with a wealth of character features, including a flagstone floor, oak beams, exposed Cotswold stone, and a large inglenook fireplace with a cosy wood burning stove. The room is furnished with a large corner sofa, which comfortably seats four, a large footstool, comfortable window seat, and a Smart TV; Dining room: Another lovely, character filled room, with a large, ornamental inglenook fireplace and original exposed oak beams, which contains a large dining table with seating for six. A fridge freezer is also located in this room; Kitchen: Accessed from the dining room, the kitchen contains an electric oven, four-ring electric hob, dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, kettle and toaster. A door from the kitchen leads out to the courtyard garden. A steep, winding staircase leads up from the dining room to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Master bedroom: A beautiful room, which contains a king size sleigh bed, fitted wardrobe, and a dressing table with a mirror; Family bathroom: Contains a bath with handheld shower attachment, walk-in shower, toilet and wash basin; The second floor bedrooms are in the beautiful eaves of the cottage, and are accessed from the first floor landing by separate steep staircases, with low beams, which open directly into each bedroom: Bedroom two: Contains a king size bed and a fitted wardrobe; Bedroom three: Contains a fitted double bed, fitted wardrobe, and a chest of drawers with a mirror. A door from the kitchen leads out to an enclosed courtyard garden, which catches the late afternoon sun. There is a table with seating for six, a charcoal barbecue, and a shed that can be used to store bikes. At the end of the garden there is one allocated off street parking space.
Located in the north Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold is one of the principal market towns in the region. The main feature of the town is the historic market square which used to play host to the annual sheep fairs where, at the height of the Cotswold wool industry, up to 20,000 sheep were sold at one time. The market square is steeped in history and has two features which date back to the medieval period. At one end of the square there is the medieval cross which was erected to urge traders to carry out fair business under the eyes of God, and at the far end stand the town stocks which are found in the shadows of the old elm tree. Originally known as Edwardstow or Stow St Edward after the town's patron saint Edward, the town's church is also named after him. The church is just 100 yards from the town square and is a lovely place for locals and tourists alike to get some peace from the bustling market square. The north door is guarded by two yew trees and is a focal point of the town. Stow has traditional narrow alleyways, or "tures" as they were once known, which wind their way through the centre of the town. It is these same alleyways that were once used to channel the sheep to the fair. Another point of interest in the town is the well in Well Lane which is now a Grade II Listed Building. As a result of the rather unique geology of the area, water held in the higher layers of the limestone bursts out of various fissures on the slopes and two do still work as wells now. Food & Drink Stow has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit all tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: The Queens Head Inn (www.donnington-brewery.com/the_queens_head_stow_on_the_wold): The Queens Head is a traditional town pub, owned by the local Donnington brewery. Here locals mix with tourists who are unsurprisingly attracted into this lovely old pub. Good traditional pub food and ale, in a great atmosphere; The Sheep (www.thesheepstow.co.uk): A seasonal menu with pizzas being a major focus. There is a wood-fired oven in the restaurant, where you can watch your freshly made pizza cook; The Talbot: Laid back drinking, eating and coffees in a traditional meeting place for the town slap bang in the Square. Sofas, original paintings, rickety old tables and chairs, with staff who are under the threat of death if they are not friendly! White Hart (www.thewhitehartstow.com): A 'boutique' style Inn, which has recently been beautifully refurbished throughout. The Inn boasts two cosy bars, lots of open fires and an atmospheric dining room. Hearty food is served during the day, with finer dining in the evening. All food is sourced locally and prepared on the premises; The Bell (www.thebellatstow.com): The Bell at Stow is the perfect country pub. Behind the ivy-clad façade lies a charming, stylish interior with the warmest of welcomes. A favourite with the locals, The Bell is open all day every day offering everything from a pint of well-kept cask ale through to a delicious three-course supper. Friday evenings are legendary for the Champagne Happy Hour at 5pm - grab a seat if you can as the weekend gets off to the perfect start! Stow has a Tesco and a Co-op for regular food purchases and, for special treats, there is a traditional butcher's shop and a number of delicatessens specialising in local produce, including: Lambournes Butchers (www.lambournesbutchers.co.uk): A family owned, multi-award winning traditional butchers, renowned for locally-produced meat, poultry and game, sourced from hand-picked suppliers. Referring to the owner, the BBC's Adam Henson has observed that "what Bob doesn't know about sausages isn't worth knowing"; Cotswold Food Store and Café (www.cotswoldfoodstore.co.uk): The Cotswold Food Store and Café offers a huge variety of delicious local foods, ranging from locally sourced vegetables, meat, eggs and bread to charcuterie, hams and pates in its deli counter. The adjoining café offers freshly prepared meals by resident chef Sonya Kidney, along with home-made cakes, biscuits and light bites; Hamptons Fine Foods (www.hamptons-hampers.co.uk): Hamptons offer a wide range of quality foods to discerning customers. The shelves are packed with exclusive and delicious fine foods that one would not normally find in the mass outlets. A veritable Aladdin's cave. Hamptons specialise in gourmet hampers which can be collected from their shop or delivered direct.
  • Ottimo cottage e posizione eccellente.

Grazie

Church View apartment is a recently renovated 2 double bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. It sits in the very centre of the old Cotswold town of Stow on the Wold. It's within walking distance of absolutely everything Stow has to offer, including some amazing restaurants. Come and see what my house has to offer :)
Located just off Stow's market square which has plenty of boutique shops. The apartment accommodates 4 people, it feels like a holiday home being so welcoming, light with very high quality finishings. Bedroom 1 has a double bed, a large built in wardrobe, desk and TV with freeview. Bedroom 2 has a double bed, a large built in wardrobe and desk. Both bedrooms are extremely quiet. The cosy living area has a beautiful view of the famous St Edwards church, a 38 inch flat screen TV, BOSE sound bar and a comfortable sofa with blankets. The kitchen has a modern oven, induction hobs, microwave, premium fridge, all necessary utensils, dishwasher and a dining room table that seats 4. A washing machine is available for you to use. The bathroom has a bath and shower along with a heated towel rail. A velux window and mirrored wall make this my favourite room in the house. An exclusive roof terrace which traps the sun very well in the summer months has an outside table which sleeps 4, a fire pit and a built in bench.
Stow on the Wold is an old market town which revolves around the Market Square. The apartment sits around 15 meters off the Market Square. It's a nice and quiet place but boasts brilliant restaurants, pubs, cafe's and shops.

  • Splendida posizione e ottimo appartamento, grazie!

    Mollie2020-01-02T00:00:00Z

The Notgrove Estate is a 1500 acre family run working farm owned by Harry and Diana Acland. Set high up in the Cotswold Hills it has 400 acres of grassland in deep valleys and 100 acres of woodland and rolling arable fields. The farm has a mix of sheep, cattle and arable and has diversified with two horse livery yards and a holiday cottage business. In the last few years Harry and Diana have put in new foot and bridle paths and entered into a wildlife conservation scheme planting 200 acres of special plots planted with wild bird mixes, corn bunting mixes, pollen and nectar mixes for bees and beetle banks that promotes the preservation of our natural wild birds. The scenery changes with each season as does the pattern of farming; we have an abundance of lambs and calves in spring, harvest in summer, colourful autumn leaves and dramatic winters, often with snow.

  • Soggiorno molto piacevole.

It is the highest town in the Cotswold’s at about 800 feet above sea level and was built mainly in the 17th and 18th century after the Battle of Stow - the last battle in the English Civil War, and has witnessed secluded growth and prosperity throughout the Iron, Stone and Bronze Ages.

    Alexandra2019-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • Posizione fantastica, meravigliosamente pulita e fresca, e veramente comoda.

At nearly 800 feet, Stow is the highest of the Gloucestershire Cotswolds towns and famous as a centre for antiques. The town radiates from the impressive market square, surrounded by Cotswold stone buildings. There is a good selection of specialist shops, cosy cafés and inns to enjoy. Stow has a fascinating history, with the market square once host to some of the Cotswolds’ largest sheep fairs, with up to 20,000 sheep herded into the square for sale. The medieval Market Cross and the old stocks give a sense of Stow’s early history. Stow had a significant role in the English Civil War – it was at nearby Donnington that the last battle was fought in 1646. St Edward’s Church was used as a prison for the defeated Royalist troops and is well worth a visit. Stow is also home to England’s oldest inn, The Porch House, as well as a great choice of other places to eat in the town.

Our cotswold cottage is situated in a beautiful, peaceful and very secluded garden, a few minutes walk from the centre of Stow-on-the-Wold with its amazingly varied selection of pubs, restaurants and shops - it provides superbly comfortable accommodation in a traditional setting with all "mod cons".
Inside the heavy oak front door, the large open plan living room is light and sunny with rustic oak floorboards, stone hearth, log burning stove and French doors leading into the garden. The designer Italian kitchen island - a contemporary mix of granite and wood worktops with inset ceramic hob, double sink with spray taps, gas oven, wine cooler, dishwasher and huge Smeg fridge-freezer - is a stylish addition. The brand new oak staircase leads to a landing area, with a French door leading onto the large oak balcony with wide steps down to it's own private terrace. The cosy double and twin bedrooms have very comfortable beds and modern en-suites - one with a large shower and the other with a superb enamelled bath with Perrin & Rowe taps and shower.
Park House Cottage is situated a few minutes walk from the centre of the ancient Cotswolds wool town of Stow-on-the-Wold with its old market square, stocks on the green and wide selection of pubs, restaurants and specialist shops.

Welcome to my very special genuine Shepherds Hut situated in a beautiful hidden valley in the heart of the Cotswolds, off the beaten track but near to many local attractions, gardens and national trust properties. It is also perfectly situated for wonderful walks with a network of footpaths starting from right outside the door and local pubs only a few miles away. A truely cosy retreat in my peaceful private garden.
The hut has a double bed, thick duvet, pillows and wood burning stove to keep you toasty warm. Outside the hut in the garden you'll find a table and chairs. There is a private bathroom with shower, basin and toilet in a converted section of my garden shed close to the hut where there is also a fridge and a microwave for your use. A kettle and teas, coffees and milk are included in the hut. There is WiFi but it isn't always strong in the hut. You are able to use it in the garden on seats nearer the house.
