“There is nowhere quite like Glastonbury High Street! It has largely remained untouched by mass brands, and has developed its own culture of independent shops and cafes, many serving the 'spiritual pilgrims' to the area. All the shops are painted in different colours, and its medieval history shines through, with the Abbey behind. Originally a market town, Glastonbury has an excellent independent butcher and baker, and has an outdoor and indoor market every Tuesday morning (Town Hall and Assembly Rooms), and a Farmer's Market every fourth Saturday of the month. There is a fabulous large health food store, Earthfare, at the top of the High Street.”
