Case Vacanze a Skamokawa

Appena prenotato a Skamokawa

Our cabin is on a quiet country road, over looking the Columbia river, and Oregon. It is 45 min. from Long Beach or Astoria. Sit on the porch and watch river traffic, eagles and deer. Build a fire and play games or read. Valhalla cabin, is a true log cabin. It has 2 bedrooms, 1 with a view of the river, and a loft that kids love. There is fireplace. The front porch runs the length of the house and has a deep roof, so it can be enjoyed in any weather. Very private
$10 per person after the first 2 does NOT apply to guests 2 yrs. old and under. To be able to share my cabin and the beauty that surrounds it means a lot to me. You will need to bring your own firewood. Most of the places around the cabin are owned by cousins, and are vacation homes. The cabin is rustic, no WIFI and no cable TV. The kitchen is pretty complete. There are extra quilts and comforters as well as sleeping bags, if needed. There are a few old pieces that belonged to family members that have meaning for me and I enjoy seeing. I'm not sharing a space, I'm sharing part of my life. So please feel free to have a cozy fire, play some games, watch a movie, sit on the porch and enjoy the view. We provide pancake mix, syrup, jam, a variety of coffees and teas, quick breads, Swiss Miss, and Tang for breakfast. We also provide sheep milk soap, so good for your skin. Please take home any unused jam, breads and soap. We would also like your feed back, what you liked what you didn't like so please leave a review on airbnb. The cabin is on a well. If you don't like well water, you may want to bring some bottled water.
My cousin Is the closest neighbor. The other 3 homes are vacation homes. The area is very peaceful and beautiful. The view of the river is well worth bringing your camera. The deer come almost every day. We feed them sliced up apples or pears and slices of bread. It is a great place to bird watch. At different times of the year, there are seals in the river. You can see them and hear them barking. I like to sit on the porch with a cup of tea or glass of wine and watch the river. If the fog is heavy, you will hear the fog horns. A walk down the road will often bring you in contact with other neighbors out for a jog or walk. Stop to pick some black berries when in season, you can't beat the taste. Bring your bike and enjoy some great views as you ride the back roads. Or take them to Longbeach and ride the bike trail. Hunters Inn in Naselle is a favorite spot to eat. If you'd like dinner by the water, then The Duck Inn in Skamokawa or Moe's, for seafood in Astoria.
  • This place is very secluded, with a view of the river and surrounds that is outstanding. The deer wander through a couple times a day. The cabin is very cozy, with comfy beds and a well supplied kitchen.

  • This is a return visit for my family and I and we are so thankful to Valerie and Judy for being such attentive hostesses! The rustic cabin was beautiful and cozy for our five day Christmas vacation stay and we loved warming up next to the beautiful hearth and blazing fire. We had several deer visiting and watched movies and played many board games. I stayed here with my four children who are 12, 11, 7 and 3 and they all had a wonderful time! We will return for sure. Valerie is very quick to respond to any questions and my parents are booking the place for a stay as well. Highly recommended, bring apples for the deer!

  • My partner and I drove down from Seattle to get out of the city and enjoy some peace and quiet. Valerie's cabin was an absolutely perfect place for our getaway! The cabin is charming and the view is fantastic. We spent most of our time reading on the front porch, watching movies (great VHS selection!), cooking delicious food, and playing with our dogs in the yard. To top it all off, there was homemade banana bread, jam, and adorable little soaps waiting for us! Valerie and Judy are super thoughtful and welcoming. We will definitely come back!

  • Listing was very accurate. Cabin is cozy, comfortable and clean. It's very rustic and secluded. Great view of the river and star gazing. We loved the personal touches and the owner left us goodies and handmade soap. We saw lots of wildlife, especially driving to/from the cabin. Directions were clear. Firewood was well-stocked and communication was easy.

    Julie2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Overall experience at the cabin feels like something straight out of a movie or a book. It has a great view of the river, surrounded by lush greenery and the cabin itself looks has a rustic yet quaint feel to it. The amenities at the cabin are just perfect. There are pots and pans to make a quick meal, towels, linens, warm blankets and a little of all the basic requirements. Valerie had also left us some eggs in the fridge so we could have breakfast. Getting to the cabin is a little challenging specially since (Hidden by Airbnb) Maps showed the pin at the wrong location. But Valerie is super helpful here. She was out of town when we arrived, so her sister Judy waited for us in the driveway to show us the place even though we reached there only at 9:30 pm. We could not be more grateful for how accommodating Valerie and Judy were. One big plus for me personally was the whole ambience inside the cabin. The things kept inside the cabin are what you would expect in an everyday home - pictures of kids, little toys and artifacts collected over the years, a cabin journal, a VCR player with tons of movies on cassettes etc. It takes you away to a different time and a different life and gives you a sneak peek into the life of the family that used the cabin for spring break.

    Shringar2015-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Oh my what a quaint cabin, and the view, my god! So peaceful and quiet it was a gem! Valerie and her sister were good communicators and made us feel very welcome, all was good and even the weather was nice!

    Marius2015-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great cabin, incredible view, and very easy communicating with Valerie! I'll definitely stay again!

    Tyler2016-11-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful night at the cabin. The view was spectacular and we enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the ships roll by. The cabin is comfortable and had everything we needed. Plus--- the Jam Valerie and Judy left for us was delicious. Thank you so much for letting us into your home. We are already talking about planning another trip in the near future. Thanks!

Our vacation rental apartment is next door to, but separate from our two bedroom Twin Gables Inn on Skamokawa Creek. Ideal for two, but can sleep four. The apartment does not front on the creek, but it is just 30 feet from the back door to the water's edge. Small dog with prior permission only. Dog-friendly Skamokawa Vista Park, a wildlife refuge and our Fairgrounds are just a few minutes walk away. Astoria and Long Beach are an hour's drive.
One bedroom apartment with kitchenette. Can sleep two couples. Queen bed in bedroom. Queen sleeper in living room. Small bath with stand up shower. All linens and towels provided. Kitchenette has stove/oven, small refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker and microwave. Pots, pans and utensils provided. Fresh-ground coffee. Boat dock for up to 25'. On Skamokawa Creek, just off the lower Columbia River. Not suitable for sailboats due to low bridge. For canoes and kayaks, a small boat launch is just down the creek from us We are a short walk from a general store, the Redmen Hall Friends of Skamokawa Museum and bookshop, a wildlife refuge with several miles of flat, lightly used road for cycling, Skamokawa Vista Park, where you can walk one of the few beaches along the Columbia River. Breakfast, or our 'Simple Suppers' are available in next-door B&B for $15/pp for those who want a break from cooking. The apartment includes free wifi (CenturyLink 'up to' 10 mbps) and an internet ready TV with a Netflix subscription. A (mostly) outdoors cat does reside on the property but is not allowed in the guest rooms or in the apartment. Note on location. A major search engine maps us a few miles away from where we actually are. We are in central Skamokawa, a 5 minute walk from the general store and paddle center, and across the highway from Skamokawa Vista Park. We are located on the waterside of Skamokawa Creek, which empties into the Columbia River just downstream.
We are in the Skamokawa National Historic District. Houses here face Skamokawa Creek. The creek was once the town's 'Main Street', as much travel was done via water. There was no through-road to Skamokawa until the 1930s. The human population is small, outnumbered by a variety of wildlife. You may see deer in the yard, Eagles, Osprey and Red-Tailed Hawks are common sights, as are Herons and many migrating water-fowl. You may hear coyotes yipping in the evening. Beaver, Otter and Nutria are often seen in the local sloughs.
  • Beautiful apartment and a wonderful little town. I highly recommend a stay here!

  • My sister and I were only able to stay for one night, and had my dog with us. We sure wish we could have enjoyed it longer, this is such a quaint little down and so very quiet! Thank you for everything, it was lovely, and we appreciate you making us feel so welcome :) Home made cookies and a happy birthday note, really thoughtful, and your property is just beatiful and well loved! We will be back!

  • Loved the quiet rural area. The apt was very clean. The cooking facilities were adequate, we cooked there every night. Would recommend for solitude and lovely walks in Vista park and the beach.

  • Kathleen was awesome. She was there to greet us and made us feel very welcome. Her tip about where to eat was spot on - Duffy's was an amazing find! Great food and Beer in a quirky Irish roadhouse pub. The little "cabin" was cozy, clean and comfortable. We were also able to bring our two dogs along. Kathleen was completely relaxed about the pooches. The riverfront Skamokawa Vista Park was right across the street.Walking the dogs along the riverfront early in the morning was a very special experience.

  • Bellissima struttura, molto curata e ricca di aprticolari, con giardino di fronte e veranda sul canale, Kathleen è molto disponibile e gentile, ottima scelta!

    Massimiliano2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • The Twin Gables in was quiet, scenic, and quaint but luxurious. Kathleen was courteous and attentive. Aesthetic details, from the breakfast food (including amazing fresh-baked bread) to the smell of our room (gentle lavender) were perfect. The house itself is a relic, with historic vernacular building. The location was what we were looking for - remote, with interesting landscapes. It's a great spot to get away, but expect that there will not be many stores or restaurants. In general, highly recommend.

    Christine2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about our stay in Skamokawa was incredible from the amazing friendliness of Kathleen and her husband to the Delicious breakfast in the morning we enjoyed every minute of our time at Twin Gables! We loved it!

    Jessica2015-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in Agnes' room for 2 days. Kathleen and her husband are friendly hosts, making you feel comfortable during your stay. Being the older house that it is, the BnB has a really nice, historic feel to it. Kathleen is a great cook: breakfast is simply delicious and we also got to enjoy a great dinner (she offers a simple and more extensive one). The town is quite small, but has a fouple of spots to sit down and overlook the Columbia river. Highly recommended if you are looking for a quiet getaway!

    Michael2015-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place! I wish I could give more than five stars. Kathleen runs a beautiful inn on a waterway in a very scenic location. The room was comfortable and Kathleen made us a delicious breakfast each morning. We sipped wine on the veranda and watched the finches and hummingbirds. The Pacific is about 40 minutes away and was an easy day trip away. Thank you again, Kathleen!

    Julie2017-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cute B&B.. host was super friendly and attentive. Excellent bed, slept like a baby. Great breakfast!!

    Peter2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Quiet, lovely home for a peaceful getaway. Near enough to drive to siteseeing areas. We missed out on the Columbia River Kayaking tour, but I'm sure it would have been excellent.

    Jodi2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Don't hesitate. Grab this place. It is perfection. And as an extra bonus, Kathleen makes an amazing, fresh country breakfast. The whole experience far exceeded our expectations. And don't forget to try the prime rib at the Road Kill Saloon just on the other side of the creek.

  • Debby's place was very clean, roomy, and comfortable. We were able to walk to the local brewery for a beer and the pizza place in town for dinner. We especially enjoyed the large jetted tub. We didn't get the opportunity to meet Debby but all in all a great experience. Thank you Debby!

    Kelly and Anthony2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a perfect hideaway from all of the tourist traps. The room and adjoining master bath was completely private. You can see out over the garden and Columbia river from the jet tub. We absolutely enjoyed our stay with Debby. The linens were fresh and clean. There are a lot of little details from the soaps to the towls that just makes this place perfect. We wish we could have stayed longer!

    Tracy2016-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time using airbnb and Little Swiss Army House did not disapoint. The view and the home itself is beautiful, and the bathtub was so relaxing. Debby supplied bagels, english muffins and fixings and made it feel like home. Hope to be back again soon.

Puget Island is a beautiful rural location in the middle of the Columbia River. All islands west of us are part of national refuges. There are boat launches on the island and in Cathlamet, used by many fishers. Nearby sloughs and the river itself are used by kayakers who can launch across from our house. We are bird watchers and the island is part of a yearly bird count each December when the area is full of wintering birds.
  • Carol and George were great -- they welcomed us and made sure we knew where things were, and had a great binder out together with information about the area. Breakfast was perfect -- yummy scones and hard boiled eggs from their own chickens!

    Kathryn2015-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • My husband and went on a road trip from San Francisco ... northern CA ... Oregon coast ... to Seattle. We had a lovely, relaxing stay at Carol's farmstay apartment. Very quiet - except for the rooster crow in the morning - ha! (it was fun. just an observation from Chicago city-folks). The hosts provided a lovely, simple breakfast. And the homemade plum wine on arrival was delicious. Cozy apartment. Clean. Relaxing. Beautiful area ... lovely property/farm. I wish we were able to stay longer. The binder of activities in the area, on the coffee table, was really welcomed. Next time! Thank you.

    Leanne 2015-05-24T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and George were thoughtful and warm hosts! My boyfriend and I loved our stay. We had been camping for the two days previous, and we were pleased to be able to settle in to the private space and connect to wifi and watch some Netflix on the cottages smart tv! Comfortable bed, bbq, all the kitchen supplies we could need, toiletries, towels, everything was provided! The spot was very quiet and close to the beach, and being on a farm we were delighted to be able to buy some fresh from the ground kale! The rooster and owl calls added to the authentic farm experience. We would definitely make the trip again!

  • Homey, clean, comfy and chic accommodation in a delightful little town. Welcoming place. Loved Tommy who was also a delightful welcome committee of 1.

    Lisa2016-01-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Carol & George's place! We loved the charming setup right near the river. They really thought of everything - not only having toiletries available, games to play, DVDs/VHS tapes to watch but also wonderful touches such as homemade scones, homemade wine (for our anniversary), eggs from their farm and even coffee/tea for the mornings. They gave us tips about kayaking around the area and when we couldn't find a can opener Carol brought one over right away! It was also great to be able to bring our dog with us. Thanks so much for a great place to stay while we explored the surrounding area!

    Akane2016-05-09T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was a very nice place to stay on the island, and having a beach across the road was a definite plus. Space was nice and well-equipped for our stay with kitchen and other amenities. Nice private location. Carol took us on an enjoyable tour of the farm, and our young kids especially had fun feeding the chickens and sampling some of the farm's specialty crops.

    Brendan2016-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, a destination in itself. Beautiful, quiet, perfect. Carol was super fast to respond. Highly recommended.

  • The moment we arrived we wished we could have made it a longer stay. The place was extremely well equipped, clean, and comfortable. Julie was a great host (easy to reach and quick to respond). The kitchen, the fire pit, and the dock—I'd love to come back. Overall, this place made my weekend positively memorable.

    Rachel2015-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • We all had a great time at our annual family gathering. The barn and the farm were everything we expected. From walking around the farm, visiting the goats, coffee on the dock, it was a perfect extended weekend. We truly appreciated the extended hospitality for our additional family member Julie provided. Early morning coffee in the Adirondacks was especially enjoyable... whether on the deck or on the dock, the crisp air and a warm cup of coffee was just the relaxation we needed.

    Theresa2016-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • The barn house was an amazing place to host a friendsgiving. The kitchen is fully stocked with a lot of space for entertaining and having multiple cooks in the kitchen. We saw bald eagles, herons, and hawks on our walks around the island. It was beautiful and exactly what we wanted! Our one complaint was the lack of wifi during our stay.

    Lexi2016-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • Stay here! Great for bigger groups. The pictures do not do the inside justice. Beth has done an extremely tasteful and homey job with this barn conversion. Barn space is great for dancing and games! Kitchen is huge but bring your own knives. Overall, for most people in our group the best airbnb experience we've had.

  • This is a great place, don't hesitate to book!

    Peggy2017-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • Seriously, this place is a gem - I don't even know where to start. I did not want to leave this amazing place. The barn is amazingly renovated, the property has everything you could ever want, and the views incredible. We cooked great food, we ate dinner on the dock, we kayaked, we SUP'ed, we took the ferry to the OR and hung out in Astoria - we left sooo relaxed and it was such a great escape. It was just the two of us, but a big group would certainly be very comfortable here as well. And what an amazing spot for a small wedding! The barn event space and grounds are very well thought out for events and everything is just darling. The barn is on the opposite side of the street from the dock, but it is a quick walk and a very quiet street. I could go on and on, but I will stop and just say - come here, you will not be disappointed!

    Lisa2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The most hospitable people I've ever met! Wonderful land and home. So peaceful and relaxing. Never had to leave this lovely retreat.

    Moses2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • The barn is in a beautiful and quiet location on the river. The host is very pleasant/accommodating. It is an active farm but does not smell like manure. There is a very real charm to the farm. The space is very clean with up-to-date amenities and a large master suite. It is very quiet and tranquil. To venture out, we went to Astoria for salmon fishing (pre-booked), Cathlamet, and Longview. It was an easy drive either using the roads (or a nearby ferry). The dock at the house has kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, towels, and everything you need to enjoy the river. We saw a small fleet of steam boats come down the river while out on the water. Also saw 2 bald eagles not 30 yds from the dock. The nature is beautiful. Overall, a wonderful place to spend time.

Our guests love the gourmet food, they are charmed by the animals but I think it is the quietness that speaks loudest to them. In a world that is increasingly addicted to noise and speed, silence becomes golden.
We love the quiet and lack of traffic. No sirens, no booming stereos. We can count on one hand the number of vehicles that we see while on a walk or bike ride. A morning walk is a real treat.
  • Crippen Creek farm is unequivocally stellar! Exceptional in every way. Greeted at the door, help carrying our bags, warm tea, key lime bars, a flawlessly clean room, great breakfast and great conversation! My bride and I were heading out to the coast and stopped here on the way - we will definitely do so again! A perfect 10 as far as a bed and breakfast goes! Thanks so much for a great time Don and Kitty!

  • Wow, wow, WOW! What an amazing place to stay! My husband and I were looking for a nice weekend getaway before our baby arrives and we are so lucky The Inn at Crippen Creek Farm popped up in our search surrounding Long Beach. Kitty and Don are the ultimate hosts- we seriously felt right at home the second we pulled in. The house is immaculate and the food is delicious (the aroma of breakfasts and dinners always lingers and it is niiiiiice). Kitty and Don are funny, kind, and the type of people you could spend hours chatting with. The grounds of the Inn are wonderful for exploring (we wish we didn't wait to wander until our last morning and that we took more time at the inn to lounge outside). The room we stayed in (Palermo) was so very clean (the whole house was, honestly) and was stocked with necessities. At first I was thrown off by having no blinds/curtains on the windows, but being able to see the stars and trees out of the window while laying in bed made me realize how special it was. Just note: the other room is right next door and the bed backs up to the same wall. If you are a lighter sleeper and your neighbors are chatty and/or snore it could pose a problem for your snooze! The only regret we have on this stay is not joining them for dinner. If you have the opportunity: jump on it! Or see about a cooking class (also wish we had done that). If you can purchase any of their breads/cinnamon rolls, be sure to take advantage of that! Kitty and Don pour their heart into their fine-tuned crafts and we are so very lucky to have met them and to have stayed at Crippen Creek Farm. We hope to return again sometime!

  • A top notch place for good company, wonderful food, extraordinary conversation, and respite from a busy life. Getting to know their farm animals was also great fun. They took us in on short notice and didn't miss a beat. They are the best.

  • Kitty and Don could not have been more hospitable! We felt like we were visiting old friends. Don is an amazing chef and is passionate about his baking. Breakfasts were wonderful and we immensely enjoyed a Southern dinner for a reasonable extra fee. We would recommend the Inn at Crippen Creek to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, country getaway.

  • The room was very comfortable and clean. We loved staying out at the farm, it was wonderful to have fresh air and quite with the windows open. The home was just beautiful! We had such a wonderful time visiting with Kitty and Don. Their friendliness and hospitality was over the top. Our breakfast was out of this world- all straight from the farm- homemade bread, sausages and farm fresh eggs. It was delicious! We had such a wonderful time and we hope to come back very soon! Thank you Kitty and Don!

  • Our stay at Crippen Creek Inn was wonderful. From the time we arrived,to the time we reluctantly left, we were surrounded by a warmth of hospitality from our hosts,Kitty and Don. The Inn is beautifully appointed, our room was spotless and spacious and the environment was tranquil and relaxing. We enjoyed marvellous breakfasts and joined Kitty and Don for an evening meal, which was not only superbly cooked and presented (and included mainly produce grown on site), but also gave us an opportunity to engage in lively banter around the large table, along with other guests. This visit created memories, ones we will cherish. As I'm sure the reader will have gathered by now,we heartily recommend Crippen Creek Inn!

  • We had such an amazing time here! After camping in Olympic for a week we were really excited to relax and regroup- we were not disappointed! From being greeted with cookies when we first arrived, to having an amazing breakfast send off, to sleeping in the most comfy bed... we really had such a nice time. I am so thankful for Kitty and Dons hospitality and for their genuine interest in making their guests feel right at home. Hope we can come back one day! Highly recommend.

  • One of my best experiences on Airbnb. Kitty and Don are great hosts. The house is very clean and welcoming. The homemade breakfast surpasses many popular restaurants in the city. We are looking forward to visit again.

Our 850 sq ft apartment is surrounded by forest. Private entrance. Right on the ship channel of the Columbia River at historical Pillar Rock/Dahlia. Queen bed & full-sized hide-a-bed. Sleeps 4. Generous breakfast. Two fire pit-picnic areas, one at shoreline. Hiking trail. Easy road access to the beach. Wildlife is abundant and diverse. 3 large windows provide good view of ship traffic. Launch kayaks & canoes. Wi-fi, TV, Netflix. Check in 3PM, check out Noon. 9.8 mi. out Altoona Pillar Rock Rd.
Relax and replenish your spirit in this new spacious 3 room apartment tucked into the forest--(bedroom, kitchenette, private bathroom, living room area). We are on the Lewis & Clark Expedition trail in southwest Washington State. No animals allowed in the apartment, including our friendly springier spaniel so that people with allergies can be comfortable. Right on the Columbia River ship channel with a private entrance and easy road access to our beach picnic area. It accommodates 4 (one bed is a hide-a-bed). The apartment's 3 very large windows give a spectacular view of the Columbia River and the ship and barge traffic. Patio seating just outside those windows puts guests closely in touch with the deer and other forest animals that frequent our property. With ships passing in front, the river is never still. River traffic passes close to our beach. Enjoy going for walks on the beach and our road. There is also a hiking trail behind our house that ends high above for a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Use our outside patio, with seating and table to BBQ. We have fire pit areas for guests’ use. Breakfast offerings include: Blueberry pecan French Toast, eggs, bread for toast, waffle and pancake mix with toppings, butter, jam, milk, juice and all the coffee and tea you want. Additional items added for extended stays. Bathrobes and beach towels provided. Check in anytime after 3 p.m. Check out 12:00 noon.
We live in an especially beautiful, serene, and naturally rich area. The waterfowl on the Columbia is very diverse: white Pelicans (new to the area), hawks, several varieties of ducks, geese, osprey, and several species of owls. Eagles are everywhere and many are in our big fir trees at the front of our property as I show in our photo album. They put on quite a show and have been known to drop fish out of the sky onto vehicles--seriously! Occasionally, we get a show from some sea lions and seals gobbling up the Salmon fingerlings. One of our guests described the night silence as "you can hear your own heartbeat." You might hear an owl, or a frog in spring, or the stern wheeler or a tugboat if you are not yet asleep, but the freighters slip by us with only a low, barely discernible hum to their engines. Spring and fall might bring the distant mournful sound of the ship's horns, but instead of it seeming like noise, it is rather romantic. You might find yourself trying to figure if it is coming from upstream or downstream and staying awake to find out.
  • Wonderful location, quiet, gorgeous scenery. The apartment is fully stocked with most everything you need to cook. Definitely would come back.

  • A true hidden treasure and a piece of paradise .Dale and Cheryl are amazing people with so many wonderful stories of a very rich life together.Their home has everything you could ask for . They are amazing hosts. Can't wait to return.

    Denise2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Simply fantastic! Truly wonderful!! Such a good deal!

    Erin2016-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl was a lovely host! She and Dale went out of their way to make us beyond comfortable. Everything in the listing was exactly how described. The apartment was spacious, comfortable, full of everything we could need for our stay. We truly enjoyed the amazing view from the porch. The house was quiet and private (off a very long, secluded road) but also near enough to Astoria to be totally worth the drive. I absolutely recommend the Columbia River Rest!

    Sarah2016-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl's place was absolutely amazing. The basement apartment was spacious, clean and had a lot of windows providing a great view and natural light. When we arrived there was a doe munching in the front lawn who didn't seem to think we were important enough to leave. Later we got to see her fawn as well. Dale was kind enough to make us a bonfire to grill our hotdogs, and the next morning we enjoyed our coffee and watched along with two bald eagles as a freighter went by. After a nice long stroll down the beach we finally said our goodbyes. This was a great place and Dale and Cheryl were lovely hosts. We would definitely visit again.

    Bethany2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay with Cheryl and Dale. They greeted us when we arrived and had everything we needed as well as yummy homemade treats and breakfast. The house was very clean and we can't rave enough about the beautiful view! We had a bon fire and enjoyed walking the beach. Thanks again!

    Alyssa2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful natural setting with the Columbia River on one side and the forest on the other side. The accommodations are first class and the generous and delicious goodies in the fridge are amazing. Anything you could want is there and in great shape. At low tide strolling on the beach is like being in a fairytale. Cheryl and Dales are lovely people who are happy to help you find wonderful restaurants in Astoria and leave you to vacation as you wish. I'd love to go back for a longer stay!

    Susan2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Cheryl was so patient with us getting to her place. We just about turned around after traveling down her crazy narrow road since it was raining! But my husband was a trooper and stuck to it regardless of his fear of what was to come! So glad we made it and our stay was perfect. A bit awkward at first since Cheryl and her husband were right upstairs. But they completely respected our privacy and watching the deer eat in the morning was a nice treat. Sadly it was a very short trip and I would have loved to stay a full day! Would def stay here again!

Within two miles of the Cathlamet city center, with the Tsuga Gallery and River Mile 38 Brewery (live music every Sat. 5-8 pm). The Puget Island Farmers Market every Friday from 3-6 pm, with live music. Some public beaches on the island and nearby is the JBH White-tailed Deer Refuge. The house is right on the water. Several nearby launches that we own for paddling. Perfect for individuals, families with well-behaved kids (remember we're right next to a tidal-influenced body of water), and pets.
This beautiful waterfront retreat is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. This two-story charming home offers great views of the water on the wrap-around porch and quiet pastoral views out front. Songbirds are around year-round feeding on the berries and nesting in trees on the property. We operate a creamery about a quarter mile from the house and stock the fridge with fresh butter, cream, and milk as well as fresh-baked breakfast goods for your breakfast.
  • We had a wonderful time at this beautiful little house! Melissa was so helpful with my many questions prior to booking. The house was exactly what it seemed to be and worked perfectly for our night away from Portland for my husband's birthday. Our boys loved watching all of the birds and the tide change right off the deck. This was our first time on Puget Island and we will absolutely be back again some day. It's an amazing little place. Our only regret is that we didn't have longer to stay!

    Tabitha2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I had a brief stay at this lovely home. It is very relaxing with a beautiful view. Quaint, secluded and very sweet. There was even delicious dairy products left for us from the Little Island Creamery just up the road, and one of the owners brought us some homemade bread - so kind! Overall, a great stay.

    Jessica!2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • We loved the place! It was just what we needed! We spent hours and hours on the deck relaxing and looking at the water. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had almost everything we needed. (But Melissa was quick to assist us when requested.) All the appliances were super nice and the a/c was welcome in the hot afternoons. A small dining table and chairs along with some additional seating would be a wonderful addition to the deck (Website hidden by Airbnb) The little farmer's market was fun and just driving the little island was peaceful. If you are looking for a mostly "do nothing" vacation where you get to read, relax, look at water, and spend special time with your significant other, this is wonderful. We intend to return.

    David2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a relaxing time at Melissa's beautiful water side retreat! The home was beautifully decorated and well appointed with all the amenities. The area was so quiet with local wildlife, waterfowl, deer right out our door! The fresh eggs, milk, cream and butter from the local dairy were an added treat! Melissa responded quickly to our questions and no real issues arose during our stay. The house is a great home base for exploring the lower Columbia River area.

    Steve2016-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • Was a beautiful spot ! Very quiet and relaxing. The fresh milk and eggs were beyond delicious ! Melissa was very easy to plan with and change plans with . I will be coming back again !

Pillar Rock Camp is a new camping trailer with all amenities and parked overlooking a spectacular view of the Columbia River. We provide a private beach access where you can spend time, have a beach camp fire, and enjoy viewing the natural wildlife and great ships "up close and personal".
There is a communal fire pit on the front lawn, again with spectacular views as well as a private fire . A walking road up the mountain (behind the property), provides deep woods and a seasonal waterfall. The views are incredible!! NOTE: We are 30 minutes from a town for groceries.
We are almost to the end of a 11 mile paved road which follows the Columbia River. The neighborhood consists of well spaced out residences with lots of beach views, abundant wildlife and a slower lifestyle. There are walking opportunities along the scenic road and people here are very open and friendly.
  • Where to start? My partner and I planned on going camping and when that didn't pan out, we booked a last minute (as in, several hours before check-in) stay at Kathy's RV. She responded within minutes and approved us. The drive up from Portland was easy and we stopped in a cute town about an hour out to get a few groceries and then made our way toward the property with beautiful views the entire remainder of the drive. Kathy and her husband were so kind and instantly made us feel welcome and made sure we knew where everything was located for a comfortable stay. We were able to take a short walk down to their private beach and explored for a bit and then the next day, made our way up to another property they're building just up the hill that they also let us explore. She was kind enough to let us take our time checking out since there wasn't a new guest confirmed for the day we were leaving. I should also note that as we were loading up to leave, we discovered my car was dead but thankfully, they had the proper equipment to jump it for us which was a life saver. I can't say enough of how amazing the views were and how comfortable and well-stocked the RV was. We had such an incredible stay and would love to stay again some time in the future.

  • Lovely secluded location with a magnificent rustic beach during low tide, just made for an adventurous walk about and romantic handholding. We were in the trailer which allows for privacy and great views of the Columbia, Showere are in the main house. Drive to location is filled with views and is absolutely magnificent!! Hosts couldn't have been more pleasant n accommodating. Wonderful couple!

    Bianca2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great get-away and a definitely a different experience that your standard AirBNB. Bring whatever you might want because the location is far away from any grocery stores, etc. The description is accurate and communicating with Kathy was a breeze! The best part of the location was the beach access. We would have spent more time down there if we had known about it earlier. Take a chair and a book and you can sit next to the water with nobody else around. Thanks! We really enjoyed the stay-cation.

    Tanya2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy and Fred are wonderful hosts, they are also a pleasure to spend time with. They made sure I had everything I needed (even eggs butter and milk!) and were very good with my two little dogs. We three were there for July 3rd and 4th to escape the firework war zone in my city. Bring your salmon and corn! I enjoyed the fully stocked private barbecue and firepit that's right in front of this nice, newer trailer with a view I would never get tired of gazing at. A very short, sweet walk and you're right on a beautiful private beach where my little dogs and I spent a great majority of our time. If you like to drive, it's a very beautiful scenic route as well.

    Michelle2017-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Katy and her husband are such a friendly welcoming and hardworking couple. Their property was so well maintained and beautiful. Those two never stopped working to improve their home in some way our entire stay. Even though they were so busy they were always there to answer any questions. There was one rule ask for what you need! We never needed a thing the trailer was fully stocked and parked in a spot with a perfect view. We loved it here and so did our pups who they were also very patient with.

Single bedroom home features queen four poster, full sofa bed, complete kitchen, laundry, and sunny deck. Coastal Bliss!
This little home was built in 2014 and lived in part time for only a year. It is ideal for couples looking for privacy or small families in search of a unique coastal vacation. Note: we have a wonderful access to the river for kayaks and canoes. The living room has a new pull-out bed and the bedroom has a roomy and comfortable new queen sized bed. We keep the kitchen stocked with basic seasonings, breakfast food items and provide full sized appliances so you can cook up meals or... you can order gourmet dinners and even picnic baskets to take on day trips. All retail and lodging taxes included in price. We do allow doggies, but please, no large breeds. the house is not large enough for bigger, more powerful dogs. (Dogs not allowed on bed or couch, or left alone in house) There is a $15 pet charge, paid at time of arrival. Your dog will love running on the beach (they all do!).
We live at the end of an eleven mile road that traces the north side of the Columbia River. We see an amazing array of coastal wildlife from seals and sea lions on our beach to deer in our yard. Eagles fly above as well as hawks, and occasionally osprey. Loons, ducks, geese and white Pelicans make this their nesting home. If that wasn't enough, we live within driving distance to some of the most treasured bird sanctuaries in the Northwest. Many state parks in both Washington and Oregon are a short drive away including Stevens Park, Cape Disappointment, and Fort Columbia. We can also recommend amazing restaurants along the coast including Norma's in Seaside and Fort George Brewery in Astoria. Finally, we have some of the most beautiful public beaches in the area less than an hour away (though our private beach is pretty special too).
  • Kathy is very friendly and knows all the great places to see

    Julie2017-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great one night stay. As mentioned in other reviews this is a remote location with stunning views of the Colombia River and Lewis & Clark National Refuge. The private beach was great for a walk at low tide. Hanging out around the fire pits in the yard was a great evening activity. The house was clean and comfortable. The fridge was stocked with fresh eggs, milk, and orange juice. Make sure to try some of Kathy's homemade granola. Overall a great place to disconnect and relax. Thanks again Kathy!

    Susanne2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Kathy + Fred were incredible hosts. The house was clean and cozy, view was priceless, and beach peaceful. Deers visited and birds chirpped throughout our stay and nature has never been better than this. We highly recommend this place! !

    주용2016-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • The guest house was small but beautiful and perfect for couples. Kathy and Fred are great hosts and even had a basket with toiletries in the bathroom, which saved me since I had forgotten a toothbrush. The next morning, they left a basket on the front porch with a hearty breakfast. The house looks exactly as shown in the pictures/description. It has a kitchen, living room, washer/dryer, and a good Internet connection as well and is all pretty new. We would definitely stay here again. It is right on the Columbia River in a very scenic location with a beach, which we didn't visit due to weather. Potential guests should know it's in a pretty remote area and phone service may be poor or absent depending on your carrier. (We have T-Mobile and our coverage was unreliable to say the least within about 30 miles of the property.) The only other thing I would say is to bring your own towels if you have sensitive skin. The towels were washed in a scented detergent that smelled good but irritated my skin slightly.

    Dana2015-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time staying at Kathy's place! She was a great host and made sure we had everything we needed. We could not have asked for anything more. Highly recommend staying here!

Puget Island is a lovely, serene island in the Lower Columbia River, about 50 miles downstream from Portland, OR and about 25 miles upstream from Astoria, OR. Our closest 'big' town is Longview, WA. Cathlamet is a tiny town, located in tiny Wahkiakum County. The town has a really well stocked grocery store, Tsuga, a lovely art gallery and Scribbles which has hand painted and glazed pottery. We also have a craft brewery (open on the weekends) and a few very basic restaurants. Down the road is the Julia Butler Wildlife preserve which is great for birding and deer watching. In Skamokawa is Redmen Hall with a beautiful interpretive center and gift store. Our claim to fame is we have no stoplights in our county! There is a bridge from Cathlamet to the island and a small ferry from the island to Westport, Oregon.
  • Everything was great, the cabin is clean and spacious, everything that you could need. The farm and the surrounding area are lovely.

  • This place is perfect! It is so peaceful and cozy, perfect for unwinding. We made good use of the BBQ and firepit. We also had a great time at the on-site Farmer's Market. Diane and Rog were both very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them. Diane left a basket of fruit and homemade bread, jelly, and granola bars, which was all delicious. (The bread was to-die-for!) I hope we can return soon.

  • This was just an excellent stop on our trip. Wonderful hosts and wonderful accommodation! The Friday farmers market was great!

    Corey2014-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • What a lovely spot! Rog's Retreat is on Diane's farm on Puget Island in the middle of the Columbia River. The house is newly remodeled and decorated and nicely appointed. We were super comfy there - and would love to spend longer next time.

  • You will love the cabin, the island, and the host!

    Scott2016-10-02T00:00:00Z
  • Rog’s Retreat is truly a retreat. Tucked into a secluded part of the host’s working farm the cottage was clean comfortable and well appointed. Thoughtful touches such as homemade bread, jelly, farm fresh hard boiled eggs, and fixings for s’mores were welcome made the stay truly feel like “home”. The firepit was great! Each day Rob even took the time to keep the wood stocked each day and fresh kindling in the pit. I strongly recommend the Retreat to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. They even host a Farmer’s Market on Friday’s during the season!

    Clyde2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • A quaint very peaceful country cottage. We spent a night on our way from Seattle to the Oregon Coast. Diane was a very gracious host, easy to communicate with. She provided a few delicious breakfast items for us. The cottage is very clean and comfortable. Although we didn't have much time to spend and enjoy the place, it was overall a very pleasant stay.

    Marcella2015-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • After a 10 hour drive, we arrived at the charming town of Cathlamet, drove across a picturesque bridge to an island in the Columbia River and were warmly greeted by Diane and Rob who showed us to this wonderful cottage at the back of their property. With a giant rose hedge for privacy in front, and a wild wetlands area in back complete with deer and fox, it was enchanting. The cabin is even more lovely than in the photos. When you step in the door, the lofty ceiling and plentiful windows lift your spirit. Everything about it was delightful. The sheets and towels were the best. The fridge was quiet. Two porches so you could find a cozy place to sit outside. Diane left us some yummy things for breakfast, homemade granola bars, bread and jam, along with coffee fixin's and fruit. My dog and I enjoyed walking about the grounds, and it was totally private, with only a chuckle or two from the neighboring ducks and geese. We were actually exhausted, and slept about 10 hours straight, a record for two light sleepers! The shower was nice, hot and massaging. Everything was very clean and well made and well loved. When I looked Puget Island up on the map, I noticed there was no bridge from the island to the Oregon side. To our delight, we discovered that there is a ferry that runs on the hour. For $5 you can experience a fun trip that takes about 15-20 minutes. We will definitely try to come back and stay for a couple of days next time. The area is really lovely and worth exploring.

  • What a beautiful spot! Fantastic view, perfectly clean and lovely accommodations. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and even got up early to have the best strawberry rhubarb muffins and coffee waiting for us. Can't wait to visit again!

  • We arrived late at night, which I do not recommend due to the road, and Linda and Brian were waiting for us. They are great host, the room was very comfy and the bed is excellent. The breakfast was delicious. The house is located in a very quiet place. We saw deers in the morning. I was difficult to leave the beauty of the Columbia river.

    Julien2015-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Brian and Linda made us feel so welcome right from the start. They held dinner until we got there and then served us a delicious meal, including dessert, and then even sent us to bed with a midnight snack! The views from the Hummingbird room and the cozy upstairs porch were phenomenal. We saw a mother deer and her fawn and a bald eagle while sitting and enjoying July 4th above the Columbia River. The house is an amazing labor of love; meticulously restored and comfortable. They are natural hosts!

  • We loved our brief stay at the Dahlia House. We were greeted by Brian and Linda upon our arrival with cookies and water. The quiet, beauty, the amazing view of the Columbia River from our room was wonderful (Website hidden by Airbnb) Brian has lots of stories and history of the house and the area since the house has been in his family for generations. He and Linda have taken a lot of pride to restore the Victorian era back to their home. This is not a job for them. You are guests in their home. The house is clean and welcoming. The Hummingbird Room is at the front of the house upstairs so you have an unobstructed view of the river. Two windows that open to listen to the quiet and to nature. The room is beautiful. They provide robes to use. They asked us about diet restrictions, what time we wanted breakfast, and several choice from omelet to waffles. We had fresh berries from their garden. If you would like to turn back the clock and truly get away. I recommend a visit to the Dahlia House. We would definitely return.

  • Amazingly friendly couple that did everything to make you feel welcome. Do yourself a favor and get them to make you dinner, it's a great experience. Beautiful location and accommodations!

  • We had a wonderful stay at Linda's bed and breakfast. It is everything you see in the pictures and more. Beautiful location, beautiful home.

    Nithin2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and Brian were amazing hosts. They greeted us as we pulled up and immediately welcomed us into their relaxing home after a long road trip. Their home is best of both words, as you can have all the privacy you want, or if you're more social and enjoy conversation and the company of others, they have great stories to share :) I'm looking forward to visiting them again in the future.

  • Lynne's home is in a beautiful location with stunning views. The house is calm and quiet and Lynne was very welcoming as was her dog! The bedroom was lovely and we enjoyed the excellent, healthy breakfast that Lynne had kindly prepared for us. We would recommend anyone to stay with Lynne. Perfect peaceful spot from which to explore Astoria. Thanks Lynne!

  • Lynne has an amazing house and view of the Columbia river. The room is very cozy and she is an excellent host. Highly recommend her place. It is very close to astoria but a little bit out of town so very peaceful. August the labradoodle is very sweet. Looking forward to returning!

    Kelley2017-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne is a delightful host and August an enthusiastic greeter. Comfy bed, lovely breakfast and a million dollar view. What's not to love?

    John and Chitra2017-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • I came in after dark and Lynne and August (the labradoodle) met me warmly outside the door. Everything was exceptionally clean and the decor was spot on, even featuring local artists. She has wonderful taste in vintage furniture as well. I had the whole downstairs (living area, bathroom and bedroom) to myself and went upstairs for breakfast in the morning. We had easygoing conversation and Lynne is an absolute sweetheart. August is a little rambunctious at first because having a guest is very exciting business, but he calms right down after a few minutes and is such a love. Wonderful view of the river out the large windows. Overall, a lovely stay. I highly recommend this place.

  • A clean and comfortable place to enjoy Astoria which lies only a short drive away! A beautiful view and complimentary breakfast in the morning along with a congenial welcome from O Lynne made for a wonderful experience!

    Jeffrey2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lynne is an excellent host! She provided a clean, quiet and relaxing space and even made a breakfast of fruit, yogurt and coffee in the morning. The view is spectacular, overlooking the Columbia river. I would highly recommend staying here!

  • I loved Lynne's rural house overlooking the Columbia River. Great view. Very quiet location. Absolutely the most comfortable bed that I have ever slept on in either hotels or AirBnbs. Lynne offered coffee, juice, berries, peaches, and cereal, too.

  • This is the perfect place to stay to enjoy lovely Astoria. The beautiful view of the river guarantees a fun and scenic trip even if it is a rainy day. Being just outside of town is nice because you feel like you have your own private sanctuary without sacrificing convenience. Jade was a fantastic host and we felt well taken care of. The house was adorable and very clean. We will definitely try to stay here again!

    Julia2017-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • For sure staying there again..The space was Amazing. Jade and her family are AMAZING and very helpful, down to earth people.

    Marquez2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Driving up to the house it looks like an ordinary house. However once you step inside you realize the thought and dedication that Jade put into the house. The soft mattress and jacuzzi tube in the master bath, Finnish sauna, full kitchen, and best of all the view from the living room and master bedroom are better than you expect in a rental. This house was a little difficult to find with GPS, but Jade was great explaining the final directions. However, this was the bonus. The house is very secluded and once at the house you can spend hours just watching the tides go in / out or the birds flying outside. Would recommend if you have a boat, kayak, paddle board etc to put right into the water at the house. Short (5 min) drive to Astoria, grocery store and all the amenities, but far enough away to enjoy a quiet night.

    Trent2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • Jades place was FANTASTIC!!! It was decorated beautifully and very, very comfortable! The dock and river were breath taking and it was so peaceful watching the birds and fish jump! After all the hard and tragic news lately with the hurricanes and fires, it was nice to have a beautiful, peaceful place to be and enjoy. Thanks again and we will be back!

    Vicki2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • The "River House" is truly an awesome experience. Bring your canoe, kayak maybe a standup paddle board and checkout what the John Day River has to offer. Or just sit on the dock and watch the Ospreys pluck fish from the water. The house is very secluded and private.

    Paul2017-07-30T00:00:00Z
