Lovely award winning restaurant not far from cottage, or the local pub in the other direction - both a short distance from the Cottage. Long sandy blue flag beaches just a bike ride away! What more could you want from a holiday cottage? Sorry no pets!
There's a very welcoming pub - the Star, a short distance from the cottage or the other direction an award winning restaurant The Ingham Swan ((website hidden)) which you have to book about 2 weeks in advance!! Weavers Way paths all around, long sandy blue flag beaches (Cart Gap, Sea Palling, Waxham & Horsey), and Seals at Horsey from November - February! Lovely coastal paths through the dunes etc.
  • Cosy Barn Owl Cottage is a beautiful property finished to a very high standard, the hot tub was the finishing touch to a lovely short break away in an idyllic setting. Shelley is a wonderful host that gave us excellent recommendations of places to eat and visit. We had a well needed relaxing break and I thoroughly recommend a stay at this delightful little gem, we will most certainly be staying here again.

  • A beautifully restored cottage! All the amenities you could need. A lovely quiet area with lots of places to explore. The hot tub is a real treat!

  • What an absolute gem!! We came with our 8 week old son for our first holiday away and it has just been perfect. The cottage is more beautiful in reality thatln the pictures do justice. It is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and absolutely immaculate. Best bit was the hit tub being within range of the single bedroom for the baby monitor so we also had the opportunity to enjoy the evenings in the hot tub. Shelley is a super host, very thoughtful and great at recommending local places to see and eat. We will definitely be recommending this cottage to everyone and will look forward to booking our next stay soon!

  • Lovely home from home in Norfolk! Nice quaint character extremely clean property in the middle of the countryside, less than 5 minutes away from the beach! Lovely walks along flat beaches to be had, including seeing the seals at Horsey! Nice towns to have a wander around and The Star Inn up the road was very welcoming! Lovely hot tub too when you wanted to chill. Just what we needed for a great weekend away!

    Georgina2016-03-29T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and I enjoyed a throughly relaxing girly weekend away at Shelley's cosy cottage. It's the perfect location for a mini break. The cottage is decorated impeccably, with all the amenities you need, plus the added bonus of a hot tub!! Shelley is a very welcoming host and even provides a welcome pack of bread, milk and eggs on arrival. I cannot recommend the cottage highly enough - we can't wait to return!

    Roseanna2016-12-11T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is stunning - beautifully decorated with high spec amenities and everything you need for a relaxing break - hot tub being top of the list! Shelley provided details of things to do locally (which really helped us out when the rainy weather threw a spanner in the works!). We had a fantastic, relaxing 5 days at Barn Owl Cottage and would definitely recommend it to anyone who's looking for a country escape - you're just 5 mins from a sandy beach and only 30 mins from a lovely day out in Cromer! There's plenty to do in that part of the country if you don't fancy sitting in the hot tub all day ;-)

    Hayley2016-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cozy cottage with added bonus of working wood burner and hot tub spa. Stay was hassle free and we were even provided with eggs, milk and brea(URL HIDDEN) (thank you Shelley!) The cottage is well presented with high quality fixtures and fittings. We would highly recommend a stay at Cosy Barn Owl Cottage!!

    Alessandra2016-09-25T00:00:00Z

  • Thank you Dawn and Graham for making us so welcome whilst staying in you beautiful accommodation. Hope to visit again soon. Wendy and Bob

    Wendy2015-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Both Dawn and Graham made us feel really welcome, they were both helpful and hospitatable. The best hosts we have stayed with. When our car broke down, they gave us their phone to contact a garage, and Graham even drove us to the garage (30 mins away) to collect the car once it was repaired. The cottage and neighbourhood were exactly as described. Thank you.

  • Just want to say a huge thank you to Dawn and her husband for the lovely and friendly greeting we had on on our few days with them. We really can't thank you enough for everything and can't wait to come back soon! Sea Palling is a beautiful village and the surrounding area was fantastic, especially the long walk to the pub!

A characterful, well equipped cottage situated in a quiet lane in the seaside village of Sea Palling in Norfolk. It has a large garden backing on to open fields and is a short walk from the blue flag beach and well stocked village shop. Hawthorne Cottage dates back to the 1600s and is a delightful thatched cottage. It was originally two cottages which have combined into one but the upstairs spaces are separate each with their own staircase. This works really well when you have two families staying as you have two bedrooms on each side and are separate at night. One of the twin bedrooms is a walk through bedroom at the top of the stairs to the double bedroom and so may be more suitable for children. Please note that the staircases are steep and narrow. There's a downstairs room which contains an old range oven where we've left toys, books and games for children and also a TV with DVD player and a number of DVDs. We also have an iphone compatible music player and have just purchased a Nespresso machine! The cottage is well equipped with cooking implements, crockery and glasses as we are often there with another family so have up to 11/12 of us staying. You have access to the whole cottage, car parking for 3/4 cars and a large garden. There's also a shed where we keep children's bikes, beach equipment and store the dryer and freezer. There are two travel cots and two highchairs. This our holiday home and we live near Saffron Walden. The lovely Kerrie will meet you at the property, give you keys and show you round. She lives at the end of the lane and can help if you have any problems in the time you're staying. Sea Palling is a village on the sea front and near to the Norfolk Broads. There's lots to do in the surrounding area including canoeing and day boat hire on the Broads, wildlife trips, a visit to Waxham Barn and Wroxham Barns, cycle hire in Waxham and walking at Hickling Broad. Our kids love visiting Bewilderwood and East Ruston Gardens. You can probably get a bus to Sea Palling but really you need a car to get to and explore the area. The property is non smoking and real fires are not allowed because of the thatch and the type of insurance we have. All linen and towels are provided but please bring beach towels and bedding if you're using the cots. There is a BBQ in the garden and outside table/chairs.

The next village Ingham has a great pub called The Swan and you can buy fresh fruit and veg from the farm shop one mile outside of Sea Palling and further along the road meat at Causeway Butcher, both on the way to Stalham. There's a Tesco at Stalham where you can get all other essentials or have deliveries to the cottage.

Secluded beach-side accommodation set within the sand dunes of the Blue Flag beach at Sea Palling! The beach is just over the dune and we are a few miles from the famous Horsey seal colony (spectacular in winter) and Norfolk Broads including Hickling Broad, a favourite for wildlife lovers. It is an extension of a family home but the private entrance means you can come and go as you please.
The studio room comprises a double bed, table and chairs and a two-seater sofa-bed (bedding for sofa-bed available on request). There is one decked area overlooking the garden and fields. Plus, a private courtyard garden with table, chairs, decked area and barbecue. The bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet. The kitchenette includes fridge, microwave, kettle and toaster. Please note that there is no hob or oven. Travel cot available on request, with bedding (no extra charge)
This accommodation is within an easy walk of village with shop, fish and chip shop (seasonal), pub with live music at the weekends, café and small family amusement arcade. Lobsters and crabs are a local speciality, let us know if you'd like to order any in advance (seasonal).
  • Wonderful stay at this seaside home. Perfect location for popping to the beach which is exactly why we had booked it. Plenty of room inside, well equipped for a short stay and very well presented and clean :) would definitely recommend and rebook if visiting the area again!

  • Really great atmosphere, easy to find and brilliant location 2 minutes walk from the beach and 5 from the restaurant/pub/casino bit. We were met with a clean and cozy room with its own garden. There was bread, butter and the best homemade bramble jelly I've ever had. (which I totally pinched when checking out.. After leaving some money of course ️) Really enjoyed my stay and looking forward to revisiting sometime in the future. 10/10

    Jules2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah's flat is so handy for the beautiful beach. Everything is clean and in new condition. The kitchenette is limited as Sarah states, but the living room and bathroom are spacious, and the shower is very good.

Sandy Lodge is a beautifully renovated chalet set in the sand dunes and a terrace with it's own gate leading directly up and over to the beach. It has three bedrooms, a sunny lounge with wood burning stove and well equipped kitchen and bathroom. Check out our video on Vimeo 'Sandy Lodge Sea Palling'
The chalet has 3 bedrooms, can accommodate 4 adults in 2 double beds and there is 1 single plus truckle bed, but as this room leads off of the double we consider this a children's room. There is a sunny lounge with a wood burning stove heating the lounge, kitchen and front bedroom. This stove is efficient at heating the chalet. The two back bedrooms (one leading off the other) have 2 small plug in radiators. The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher and washing machine. The bathroom is well fitted with bath and powerful shower. There is a heated towel rail that can be switched on and off, but it's hot so take precautions with children. We will supply enough wood and kindling for one nights fire and then you can purchase any other wood and coal from the local shop in Sea Palling or local farm shop. Please take precautions with children as there isn't a fire guard around the hearth or stove. PARKING for 2 cars ONLY at any time.
Sea Palling is a friendly village community. It is a stunning location all year round with a beautiful blue flag sandy beach. Seal colony, birds and stunning skies day and night. A very short walk into the village, there is a well stocked shop and post office, beach bar with WIFI and amusement arcade and cafe that are OPEN ALL YEAR. In season it's possible to hire bikes, buy fresh fish and there is a fish and chip shop/cafe. There is a another lovely cafe a mile or so left along the beach at Cart Gap called Smallsticks and another if you turn right, in season, at Waxham Barns. The popular Nelson's Head Pub is a few miles away at Horsey, near the National Trust wind pump. The Lessingham Star, a couple of miles away, has just won Camra rural pub of the year. Stalham is a short drive with a large supermarket, twice monthly farmers market and some junk/antique shops and a useful shop selling local produce and gifts. There are a couple of well stocked farm shops within a mile or so. There is a good old fashioned safe feel about Sea Palling. If you want to get in the car, North Norfolk is equally stunning and we're on the edge of the Norfolk Broads for boat trips. **Please see the Sea Palling and Waxham website for lots of information**
  • We had a wonderful week in this delightful chalet set in a truly beautiful location. It was exactly the relaxed break we were all looking for. The chalet is surprisingly spacious and easily accommodated 6 adults.

    David2015-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • We chose the chalet for our first family holiday away with our three month old daughter and it was just perfect. We had a lovely time & the chalet had pretty much everything we needed. The wood burning stove was so cosy and the whole chalet has been finished to a high standard. Wifi really would help here though, especially if you're not familiar with the area, which we weren't. We had no 3G & often no mobile reception so we couldn't look up things to do in the local area. Sea Palling is small with a shop, fish n chip shop, amusement arcade & pub. The arcade would be good for young children and there is an adult part with fruit machines. No shooting or driving games for non fruit machine playing adults - it's 2p slide machines that sort of thing. Fish n chips is open Thurs-Sunday only & closes early. We walked down about 7.30pm on a Saturday & it was shut, so eat early doors to avoid disappointment. The pub was friendly & the Premier shop was well stocked with a little Post Office. The beach at Sea Palling is wonderful. Sandy, clean & huge. Karen was the perfect hostess, we cannot wait to return. Thank you x

    Hayley 2015-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was exactly as described and we were very pleased. The quality of the interior was outstanding technically and the decor very pleasing. Everything worked perfectly and a lot of thoughtful touches were provided- nothing needed for us other than food and clothing! Great beach -almost completely private in late September.

    robert2015-09-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is a little gem! Sandy Lodge was the perfect setting for the relaxing break that I had in mind. Amazing to have the beach literally one hop and two skips away and the chalet had everything we needed and was lovely and cosy to come back to after a walk and get the log fire going. Thank you Karen, we do hope to come back again soon

    Victoria2016-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay here. The chalet is hidden amongst the sand dunes and metres away from a fantastic beach. Our daughters loved the wildlife and rabbits. There are plenty of toys to keep young children occupied including a great amusement arcade and ice cream shop too. Lots to see and do around the local area. A lovely little find.

    lacey2016-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location, a short walk through the sand dunes to the beach. The accommodation is lovely, clean and comfortable. Karen has thought of everything to make your stay enjoyable. Had a fantastic time and can't wait to return!

  • We had an amazing time at this stunning little hideaway. Karen was a great host, she pays attention to detail, the house was clean and had everything we needed. Cobble Cottage is in the heart of the Norfolk broads in the peaceful village of Hickling. There are a great selection of countryside walks on the doorstep and it is only a short drive to the 'Blue flag' beaches of Sea Palling & beyond. An easy 2 minute walk to the local pub at the end of the road. You’ll hopefully love our place, the cottage feel, the neighbourhood, the tranquil setting along with the easy reach of beaches and broads. We are pet friendly too!
Downstairs accommodation includes a lounge area with digital TV & unlimited wireless internet. This leads onto the suitably equipped kitchen (electric hob / oven & grill, microwave, coffee machine, kettle & toaster) through to the spacious conservatory with comfortable room for dining and views of the rear garden. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with views over the quiet lane and front gardens. The second upstairs bedroom is equipped with a single bed, room for a cot / travel cot also, with views over the conservatory into the rear garden towards the garden shed. The downstairs bathroom is equipped with shower, WC and hand basin.
The village is very peaceful and a lovely place to get away from it all. Come here to relax and enjoy the countryside at your leisure, explore the hedge lined lanes and local wildlife on show. The recently refurbished village barn has an outdoor play area, perfect for entertaining the little ones and a huge grassed playing field! The barn also offers rural cinema nights, quiz nights and other local events. There is a pub within easy walking distance (200 yards), offering good pub grub and a perfect spot on the front terrace to soak up the afternoon sunshine. The second village pub is a ten minute walk away offering the chance to enjoy a drink whilst overlooking Hickling Broad and the sailing club. Day boats, kayaks and canoes are available to rent at Whispering Reeds boat yard on the broad itself, again a ten minute walk from the cottage.
  • Beautiful place. Sea Palling beach and the Broads are amazing

    Lee2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Cobble Cottage is absolutely lovely. Cute and clean in the most fantastic location. We loved being able to walk to Hickling Broad and visited The Pleasure Boat pub several times! It has a micro brewery attached which made us very happy! We also hired a boat for 3hrs at Whispering Reeds to do a bit of exploring. It was very easy to sort but you should probably book (unlike us!). Sea Palling is the nearest beach and is just a few minutes drive away. It's really nice and has facilities, lifeguards and a couple of cafes. But it still manages to retain a village feel. Finally ...... when the heavens opened in a quite biblical fashion ...... and with a six year old in tow, we decided to go to Bewilderwood. Mostly outdoors we got pretty wet. But instead of the 2,000 people they would normally expect daily in the summer, there were 70! No queuing, it was one of the most memorable days of the holiday! Communication with the hosts was great. Highly recommended.

  • Craig's place is in a really good area right next to the Broads especially the Norfolk Wildlife Trust well worth a visit and take the boat trip out onto Hickling Broad. Also very close to the coast great for a day out. Pub down the road serves excellent food. Good Wifi Great Hamper

  • Lovely cottage in a peaceful village. Had a welcome pack on arrival which was a very nice touch. Cottage was clean and location was perfect, 5 min drive from the main road. We went to Biwilderwood which was about 20mins drive and took a boat out on the Hickling broads. Would recommend the pub at the end of the road, great food. Would highly recommend a stay here.

  • Great location for the Broads & Norfolk coast. Peaceful village with a couple of good pubs within walking distance. Cottage is compact, but ideal for a short stay.

  • A fantastic Norfolk Broads bolt hole. A gorgeous cozy cottage just yards from the local pub and a 10 minute walk to the nature reserve. The welcome hamper which included beer and wine was a nice touch. Great communication with host. We hope to visit again.

Rose Cottage, a stunning self-contained annexe, is in an amazing location as it truly has something for everyone. Within walking distance is Hickling Broad, Nature Reserve, Sailing Club, horse riding, beautiful countryside and two village pubs. A short drive or cycle away is a Blue Flag beach. The annexe has cooking facilities, it’s own garden with fire pit/bbq & is separate from the main house so you can feel confident coming and going as you please. We love it here and are sure you will too.
In addition to the double bed we have 2 camp beds, a cot and highchair available if required. Please note we have a shower only. There is a heated towel rail in the bathroom.
If it is wildlife you are interested in Norfolk Wildlife Trust provide boat tours. The Nature Reserve in the village provides a great spot for walking and bird watching. Whispering Reeds Boat Yard is an excellent place to hire canoes, motor, rowing and sailing boats (pre-booking is recommended particularly in high season and public holidays. Please note the boatyard closes for 2 weeks over the Christmas period) If you fancy taking your own Sailing yacht on holiday, you can enjoy the fantastic Hickling Broad Sailing Club where they offer our guests daily memberships for a small fee. We are surrounded by countryside so it's ideal for dog walkers, cyclists and motorcyclists. Horse riding lessons are also available in the village (again best to pre-book) We are a short drive away from a 'Blue Flag' beach at Sea Palling and are located halfway between Great Yarmouth and Norwich, which have so many family attractions to explore you can keep all ages of children entertained! We are also a short drive away from many other parts of the famous Norfolk broads:Potter Heigham, Horning and Wroxham to name a few!
  • Cute, well appointed, very comfortable and welcoming, we loved it.

  • Highly recommend this place. We ve been nicely welcomed by Ashlee and all her family. The cottage is really lovely. Overall it was very clean, also well heated ( quite convenient as we were with our baby ), The kitchen space is "basic" but there are lots of appliances to cook (electric hob, oven, microwave, toaster etc ) There were a few maps and guides inside, which we used to organise some walks around the Broads. Ashlee and her husband also recommended us lots of places. Ashlee left a few things in the cottage so we could have some breakfast, thanks a lot ! The cottage is also well located, within the broads and 10 minutes drive from the sea.

    Steven2017-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely host & comfortable beautifully decorated fully equipped cottage. Fully recommend!

    Kath2017-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing find! The location is absolutely ideal for visiting the Broads. We were delighted to be the McNeill's first guests - what a lovely welcome and so thoughtful - there were some goodies left for us in the fridge to enjoy, a folder of really useful info about the surrounding area, and all you could need for a comfortable stay. We felt privileged to be the first to stay here and have no doubt everyone else to follow us will have a fantastic time just like us!

    Emily2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is in a great location with very good access to the broads and the seaside. The dog loved it. Two good pubs within the village both within walking distance. Ashlee is a very friendly host who is there to give advice about the area and sort out any problems. Cooking in the cottage is an adventure.

    Paul2017-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful long weekend at Rose Cottage and hope to come back soon. There are lots of lovely walks close by and the beach is a short drive away. The beach is well worth a visit as you can often find lots of seals there! Ashlee and family were lovely hosts and the cottage had lots of lovely features and was perfect for a relaxing break.

    jessica2017-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Ashlee was the perfect host. From start to finish she did everything she could to make our stay as relaxing and easy as possible. The property itself was bigger than the pictures made it look and it had everything we could need for a short stay. It was full of lovely little touches and special mention must go to the breakfast box provided which was full of lovely local treats. It was the perfect base for exploring the Norfolk Broads and we hope to come back for another visit to see more of the area.

    Chris2017-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ashlee's cottage is just beautiful! There was food there for us ready for breakfast and a lovely bottle of proseco. Lovely stay :)

A beautiful cottage dating to roughly late 1700's set in a quiet tranquil spot in sunny Norfolk! On a quiet country road, 10 minutes from the beach and a Michelin-starred restaurant, as well other beautiful local pubs and the Norfolk Broads, this tranquil spot is equally less than 10 minutes from the nearest town with a petrol station, Tesco's and other shops. Enclosed private garden, great area for dog walks, seeing the grey and common seals at Horsey or lazy days on the broads!

The cottage is in a beautiful rural location, very close to Horsey where we saw lots of seals on the beach which was an absolute treat. We took our dog who was very happy padding around the secure garden. The cottage is full of character and charm. Thank you Elliot for enabling us to enjoy a great couple of days in Norfolk.

My place is close to The Broads with a Nature Reserve nearby. We are on the Weavers Way long distance path and Norwich is only 30 mins away, and North Norfolk only 40 mins. The nearby coastline (15 mins) has unspoiled beaches and in winter Grey Seals have their pups. You’ll love my place because of The peaceful location, countryside, wonderful wildlife and dark starlit skies. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
Newly refurbished self contained private annex with its own entrance. The apartment consists of a spacious double bedroom, which can also be arranged as a twin, and has an en suite shower room. The living area has a new kitchen, TV, dining area and a comfortable corner sofa which converts to a double bed. Use of patio is included. We are situated in a country village near a small town with many amenities/restaurants/pubs.
Quiet rural location in the heart of the Norfolk Broads National Park. Surrounded by open pasture 500 m from Hickling Broad and pubs. There is nearby boat and canoe hire, horse riding and lots bird-watching and nature opportunities. November to January sees an amazing wildlife spectacle of hundreds of grey seals with their pups. Norwich boasts quaint cobbled streets, Cathedrals, museums, theaters, shops and many great restaurants. Voted Britains happiest city and the UNESCO city of literature.
  • We have found a little gem with Pear Tree Cottage apartment. It was beautifully clean and tidy, lovely and cosy atmosphere. Our host was Eilish's daughter who was extremely accommodating and only too happy to help if we required her to. We loved staying in this property and look forward to returning in the next few months.

    Sandra2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic time at Eilish's place. We enjoyed the surrounding countryside and the two near-by pubs, just a short walk away. We were lucky enough to see seals with their pups at Horsey. I would definitely recommend it if the time of year is right! Thanks for having us, Eilish!

  • A fantastic host. Lovely accommodation. Perfect for our visit for a wedding near by with our 14 month son. Huge comfy bed and so helpful to have fruit, milk and things available when we arrived. Thanks so much.

  • Eilish was a great host. Location perfect whilst visiting family. Accommodation clean, tidy and very well equipped. Wifi was a bonus as not expected, as this was not mentioned in the itinerary. Little extras like milk in fridge, extra bath towels if needed, fresh fruit and fresh cut flowers in the property was a great added touch. Will definitely stay again next time we are in the area. Thank you.

  • Had a fantastic stay at Eilish's apartment. A lovely peaceful haven in Norfolk, the apartment was spotless and the welcome fresh milk, fruit and biscuits and fresh flowers a lovely touch. Eilish goes out of her way to accomodate you. Next visit to Norfolk we will be staying again.

  • April cottage is in a lovely setting, right by the beach and with amenities close by. The house itself is lovely - decorated to a high standard, clean and well equipped. Ian & Shirley are great hosts.

  • Just gorgeous! So close to beach, cafe, pub, shops, chippie, carvery - no need to use the car once here! Beautifully presented cottage, lovely foodie gifts, slept really well. Great for dogs as not far to dunes and beach. Tranquil place. Didn’t want to leave!

  • Well what can we say .....April Cottage and Winterton on Sea were wee gems of a find. We loved both and it really is only a 5 minute walk to the beach. We were so lucky with the weather but if you like coastal walks rain or shine we would highly recommend this Cottage. The hosts are extremely good at communicating should you have any queries. The people we met on the beach and in the village were very friendly and our 4 year old daughter made some little friends during the week. The Cottage had everything we needed - I took some interior design ideas home with me as loved the decor - it had an instant relaxing vibe about it. Thanks Shirley and Ian!

  • Wonderful accommodation! Cosy, quaint, clean and very close to the beach! A home away from home. Staying at April cottage was like getting a big beachy hug Our two mini dachshunds loved it! People in the village were friendly, and the shops and pub were conveniently located. The beach cafe was fabulous as well! Highly recommended!

  • This cottage is cosy, well kitted out & with a nice homely feel. Located within 5 mins walk to the beach & just across the road from a great pub. We stayed over Christmas with our dog who also enjoyed the cottage & it's fully enclosed garden which he could safely run around in.

    Becky2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful cottage that was perfect for our long weekend away. You couldn't get a better location - 7 minute walk to the beach, 5 minute walk to the shop and 1 minute to the local pub. Even though it was convenient, you still got total peace and quiet as it's tucked away in a quiet road. This home is immaculate. Super cosy - perfect for couple - especially the snug living room with its logfire. The village is lovely and we saw over hundred seals on the nearby beach - towards the Horsey Bay end. Our dog was in heaven too as everywhere seems to be pet friendly in Norfolk! Much recommended :-)

    deborah2017-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • If a good design and a care for details is important to you, if you look for a cosy place, if you want to escape form the whole world and relax in front of the fire or curl up with a book in a super comfy bed - the April Cottage is for you. The hosts made it very, very welcoming. It just feels good! It looks as good as on the pictures or...even better. It's really close to the beautuful beach and dunes. Important information for the dogs owners - the area is dogs friendly. They allowed on the beach. I would go back to April Cottage and I recoment this lovely place.

Secluded and beautiful village campsite in the heart of the Norfolk broads is where your very own Shepherd's hut awaits! As the largest broad in Norfolk and its outstanding coastline, Hickling Campsite is the perfect base to go exploring by bike, boat or foot! The campsite is in an area of extremely low light pollution, and with your very own fire pit what better way is there to catch a shooting star or two!
The Duck hut has a fully equipped kitchen, as well as one double bed with plenty of storage space underneath. The second bed is impressively the dinner table. Simply pop the table down and move the mattress foam along to create your second bed. The Duck hut has table and chairs outside and a fire pit to cook all of your meals on! All you will need to bring is your own bedding including sheets, towels, toiletries, food and a cooking stove (should you not want to wait to boil the water on the fire pit).
  • What a lovely Shepherd's Hut in a fab location! The site is quiet, unspoilt, well maintained and regularly checked and monitored. The huts are clean and well appointed and the hosts have thought of everything with a few welcome extras. The toilets and showers are spotlessly clean; the latter are continually hot and powerful. It was great to have a fire-pit and good quality outdoor furniture. The huts sleep a maximum of three adults and would suit a family of four with two small children. I would highly recommend the huts to those who like "glamping". Thanks Jo, we hope to return

    Diane2017-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • Very beautiful setting right next to the broads and near the beach. The campsite is new and immaculate and the duck hut exactly as described. It was very well insulated and cosy. Very reasonably priced fire wood and clean toilets and showers. We loved the sunset from our hut and enjoyed cooking breakfast in the countryside.

Guests have access to the whole house and garden but not the garage.
Eccles on Sea is a very quiet area of Norfolk. It is mid way between Great Yarmouth and Cromer which are both resorts well worth a visit- especially if wet! Eccles is only 5 miles from the. Norfolk Broads.

We have just converted our barn and have a self-contained space with its own entrance and facilities. We are next door if you need anything. This is brand new conversion (July 2014) and the garden is coming together with space to sit outside.
This is a barn conversion we have recently completed, and is in a quiet area. . There is a pond next door with moor hens, also has occasional visits from a kingfisher and a heron. . This property is NOT suitable for young children as there is access to the water's edge.
In The Broads National Park, whether you want to hire a boat for a day on the Broads, visit a nature reserve or historic building or just spend a day shopping, there’s something for everyone here. Walking, cycling, angling and birdwatching are all popular reasons for a visit. We are just a mile from the Museum of the Broads (see http://www.museumofthebroads.org.uk/) and Stalham village centre.

  • Martin and Linda's place is amazing! It's very central to the broads and the beach. Linda had some great suggestions about where we could explore on our little get away. There was plenty of information given about the surrounding area, food to eat and activities to do. The house was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, we ate our evening meals in as we were holidaying on a budget and there was everything to make this possible! Great selection of board games too! Such a wonderful house and host :)

We had a fabulous stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again if we were in the area.

  • Really lovely stay at Welholme Barn! It's a gorgeous little home away from home which was just the break we needed. The barn is well fitted out with everything you need, and Linda was lovely and welcoming. I would definitely recommend Welholme Barn and will look to stay there again when we're next in the area.

We offer our home for you to 'live like locals' in a lovely seaside village. Happisburgh is a lovely village, there's a park, village shop, bus service, pub and of course the beach. We share our home with Teddy (dog) and Roger (cat). Teddy likes to travel and won't be home when you visit. Roger likes to host but if you would prefer he was away please let me know.
Our house is a home, come in with muddy feet and smiling faces! Hit the sack and do it all again tomorrow. 20minute walk to the beach, café and play park, or 3minute drive. We have a very big garden with swings, climbing frame and trampoline (big enough for the young at heart!).
Our street is a residential street with lots of families. It's a quiet area, the children play together on the green and everyone knows everyone. We have lived here for 11 years and only seen 2 new families move in.
  • The host canceled this reservation 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

  • We stayed at Colette's home for 2 nights with our 2 small boys (3 and 6). The house is in a lovely quiet location, but that does mean you need to drive to the lighthouse, beach and village pub. We didn't actually meet Colette but communication via airbnb went well and she was quick to respond. Because Colette has children herself it was a great place for us to stay with our kids.

  • Thank you for letting us take over your family home for the weekend, it served well for our family. The location was ideal for Bewilderwood and Bure Valley railway, and it offered plenty of space for all 4 of us.

  • My family (myself, husband, 2 kids and my mum) stayed in Happisburgh for a weekend at the end of October. This is a family home, which was brilliant for our kids as they just slotted in perfectly and loved staying in the kids' rooms. The beds were all really comfortable. There is a double bed in one room, bunk beds in the second room and a raised children's bed for the third. If you are going in autumn/winter, the house can be a bit chilly but there are 2 wood burning stoves and the hosts had kindly left wood for us and there were also some electric heaters. The surrounding area is absolutely stunning with the most beautiful beach a short distance away. We had a wonderful weekend away. The house is excellent value for money, and Colette, the host was extremely helpful in the lead up to our stay! All in all a super experience!

  • We stayed at Colette's for a couple of days. It was lovely to walk on the beach and then warm up with hot chocolate at the cafe. The house has everything you need because it's a family home not a holiday rental. Would love to return and see the beach in the summer. Colette was quick to respond to messages.

200-year-old spacious cottage, completely renovated in 2008, combines modern amenities with period charm. Two miles from sandy beaches and a 16-mile drive from Norwich. Courtyard garden for summer barbecues, woodburning stove for winter warmth.
The cottage is part of a much-loved family homestead, and has ample space for up to eight people to stay in comfort. The entire place was renovated in 2008, so there are modern amenities throughout. Downstairs, you'll find a large open plan living and dining space, with a woodburner for the winter months (which complements the very efficient central heating). There's a bathroom just off the living space, and a fully equipped kitchen beyond. You'll also find one of the cottage's unique features downstairs - a double-height space that's been converted into a bedroom. Kids love it - there's a sleeping platform up high (with a double mattress and a couple of sleeping bags up there) and two single beds down below. Upstairs you'll find a master bedroom with a double bed, and a second bedroom with twin beds next door. There's also a second bathroom up here, with a shower and toilet. There's a small courtyard garden up front, and a larger one out back.
Lessingham is a tiny village with a busy local pub - The Star Inn, winner of the Norfolk CAMRA Rural Pub of the Year award in 2017 - that's just 90 seconds walk from the cottage. Within easy walkable reach you'll find beautiful sandy beaches and Happisburgh's iconic lighthouse and outsized local church, with a tower you can climb some weekends in the year. If you're looking to eat out, there are some great options - the Star just up the road for pub grub, and seaside startups Small Sticks and Burgers on the Beach for lunch and brunch. There are some great food shopping options too. Just a short drive away in Stalham, there's a large Tesco's and a really great local butcher (Cawdron's), and in Truly Local you can source ingredients and fresh produce that's all grown locally. You can also explore two nearby farm shops: Cook's of Ingham and Meale's near Wayford Bridge. And for fresh fish and seafood, The Fair Maiden in Happisburgh is a great option. The Norfolk Broads are on your doorstep, and it's easy to hire a day launch to explore by water. Day trips to seaside gem Cromer, upscale shops at Holt, the medieval sights and excellent shopping in county town Norwich, the 19th century Hippodrome Circus in Great Yarmouth, and even to local theme park Pleasurewood Hills are all straightforward by car.
  • This was the perfect little bolt hole for our family of five. We only had two nights but immediately felt at home, warm and cosy with plenty of room and good bedding. A lovely walk to and from the beach (even though we took a meandering route!) and great cafe near beach. I like to think we bought the sun with us too, or maybe it always shines there.....

    Rachel2016-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in this cottage, it was spotless and very cosy and welcoming, the log burner is lovely for the evenings. The cottage is well equipped, we ate all our own food there and the best part is the location to the beaches, all dog friendly and great for kids. There's a nice play park in Happisham and Cromer's near enough for a trip out. I really recommend this property, the hosts are welcoming and unobtrusive. We'll go and visit again - the kids didn't want to leave.

  • We spend a girls weekend (three women between 30-40) at the cottage. We were welcomed by Matt's wonderful parents who explained everything, gave us a lot of tips and even gave us a bottle of milk as we forgot to buy some. The also offered us to take us into the next village by car the next day. We spent a wonderful weekend in the cosy cottage mainly around the fireplace;-). It's a perfect place to get some peace and quiet and go for long walks or runs. We arrived by train and booked a cab with (URL HIDDEN) whom we also used throughout the weekend. They were extremely friendly and helpful. One evening we had dinner at the Lessingham star (pub next to the cottage) - highly recommended! The kitchen of the cottage is very well equipped, it's very clean, very nice bathrooms and comfy beds! All in all a great place in a wonderful place!

  • Very welcoming and cosy, quiet & just what you want when you need to get away from everyday life! The star inn , is 90 seconds away and perfect for evening meals , booking is a must & small sticks cafe at the local beach is delightful, overall everybody was friendly & made us welcome

  • We loved the cottage , quiet and fab location . We went off to see the seals at winterton on sea which was amazing and the local pub was great fun . The downstairs shower was lush with constant hot water and the cottage was cozy and warm . We would definitely visit again

  • We had a short but amazing stay at Matthew and Eleanor's Cottage. It was the perfect location to explore Norfolk including the amazing local beaches and not too far if you want to explore norwich. The house is cosy, has all you could want for your stay and we felt very welcomed. We would definitely stay here again.

    Maria2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Where do I start. We were met by the hosts parents who were really nice they showed us around the cottage then left us to do our own thing but made it clear they were there should we need them. The cottage was beautiful. Bedroom sizes were good and beds were comfy. The kitchen had everything you needed, the log burner in the lounge area was nice and with wood already there from the host made everything a lot easier. There's board games and book if the weather was bad to kelp yourself entertained. The cottage is set on a nice quiet road a short drive away from the local town of stalham where you could buy everything you need. The views from the cottage were unbelievable and only being just over a mile away from the beach is nice. Will definitely be staying here again in the future.

  • Manor Barn is a quirky place to stay in beautiful English countryside. We had a great time exploring this lovely bit of Norfolk and would recommend it to other visitors.

  • The real english country side experience. Beautiful old barn. Nice beaches nearby. Perfect to explore the county. Rosie was a wonderful host with excellent suggestions on what to do. We loved the breakfast!

  • What an amazing & stunning accommodation, the communication was complete & concise, the room was incredible, the breakfast yum, and the local knowledge and advise was just what we were looking for, definitely visit the Old Vicarage Garden nearby, the best designed gardens & great cake.

  • Rosie is an amazing and very helpful host. Room reached my expectations, very nice home atmosphere. And breakfast was delicious. Would definitely recommend her place for future guests.

    Marcin2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Manor Barn was a delightful place to stay - thatched roof, bathroom under the eaves, and bedroom up my own staircase - all this plus generous living and kitchen spaces shared with other guests. Rosie was a warm, welcoming and generous host. There was tea and cake when I arrived and time to talk and find out we lived very close to each other at one time in our lives. There were delicious breakfasts, which made both days a two-meal day...well, OK, maybe two meals with a cake or ice cream stop. Rosie was also an encyclopaedia of local knowledge and gave helpful tips for lovely things to do and see. If you were stuck for what to do, I'm sure Rosie could help you with your day's itinerary. She also shared OS maps, guide books and leaflets for local attractions. If you want a base to explore the Norfolk coast - see seals (!!), promenade along an old-fashioned pier, squeeze down teeny tiny lanes, laze on stunning beaches - I happily recommend staying with Rosie at Manor Barn.

    Stephanie2016-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A really lovely place to stay. Rosie made us very welcome with tea, cake and a chat. A problem with none working table lamps was soon sorted. A great collection of information and books about the area, would liked to have stayed longer. Breakfast was delicious and Rosie is very knowledgeable about the area.

Delightful and stylish barn conversion in a traditional Broadland village, just 200 yards from the shop/post office and local pub. Perfectly located for enjoying the local sandy beaches, nature reserves, seal ( we are volunteer wardens at Horsey) and bird watching ( several RSPB reserves nearby), photography and painting ( we do both), cycling and walking.
This classic barn conversion is set in a charming old Norfolk village and is built of traditional flint and brick materials with a pan-tile roof. Tastefully converted to an East Anglian architect's design, it provides a comfortable , relaxing and quiet setting in which to relax in the country. Dogs are particularly welcome and there are a full range of local walks ( despite us being in Catfield).
Catfield is a friendly Norfolk village near to several market towns and within easy reach of the North Sea beaches where we 'warden' an increasing population of grey seals who haul out on our beaches to have their pups ( over 700 this years). This National Park status area of the Norfolk Broads has lots of nature sites ( SSSIs , bird and butterfly reserves etc.,), walks for dogs and hikers and lots of water to sail, launch, canoe etc. on. It is also great for bicycling and we have several hire companies within easy reach or who deliver a bike right to your door ( pre-booking essential).Boat hire is also available locally. As a thriving tourist area, we also have lots of friendly public houses with meals, real ales and excellent hosts. (Many are dog-friendly!) Museums, country parks, activity centres and heaps of fun places to visit make this a very precious are for us... and for YOU to visit!
  • We had a lovely stay here and we would thoroughly recommend this airbnb accommodation. Michael and Anne were excellent hosts and we enjoyed walks on the Broads and visiting the seals at Horsey. We look forward to our next visit! Ed and Ali Pawson

  • Lovely place to stay with a friendly, welcoming host. I would definitively recommend as a good place to base yourself to visit the area.

  • We stayed at the converted barn for a week, centred around our son's wedding in Norfolk. Mike and Anne were very friendly and helpful, yet not intrusive, making suggestions about the area when asked and lending us maps. The converted barn was compact but very comfortable. Catfield is a peaceful oasis, yet within easy ( by car anyway) reach of many of the Norfolk Broad sights and the coast.

    Alan2017-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very relaxing and comfortable 5 nights stay in this well equipped and warm cottage in February. There are lots of welcoming touches, and there was very good information about things to do in the area. Catfield is a good central location for exploring The Broads, the coast and Norwich. Mike and Anne were friendly and helpful.

    Bill2016-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely four day break and felt that Mike and Anne were extremely welcoming. After a long drive, Mike was there to meet us as we parked up. He was really friendly and made us both feel at ease straight away. The cosy converted barn was lovely and they had thought of everything. It was lovely and warm when we stepped in. There was fresh milk in the fridge and even a bottle of wine on the table. It was a great base for four days and we would happily book again. The barn looks over their large garden and it felt that you had a lot of space. It was very peaceful and spacious. We only ended up cooking one meal but there was everything we needed in the kitchen. I really enjoyed chatting to Mike and Ann, very like minded people but they also left us alone for most of the time. There is a great country pub within five minutes walk that serves good real ale and home cooked food. The village was extremely friendly and welcoming.

  • Le gite se révèle pratique, bien équipé, confortable et très au calme à la campagne mais proche du centre du vilage et de ses commodités. On trouve un supermarché à proximité à Stalham.

  • Another stay at Bay Tree. Look at my other reviews for further details but tip top as always. Lovely place to stay that will fulfil all your requirements I'm sure. It is out in the sticks a little though so be aware of that if you need public transport. I'm sure Mike and Anne can advise accordingly if you require them too.

  • My husband and I had an amazing stay at this amazing barn conversation. The owners made us extremely welcome and we received a lovely welcome pack of goodies on arrival. There was constant hot water when required and the heating made it extremely cosy. Thankyou so much for a lovely break.

A pet friendly brick and flint cottage in the heart of Happisburgh on the Norfolk coast. Albion Cottage is perfect for summer breaks or winter escapes alike and is ideally located just 10 minutes from a glorious sandy beach.
Albion Cottage Sleeps: 3 adults and a baby/toddler or 2 adults with 2 children and a baby/toddler or 4 adults (1 adult in a bed settee in the living room). We welcome pets - up to 2 large dogs, 3 medium or small dogs, 2 cats and any pet in a cage - and charge £25 per dog or cat per visit. Accommodation: Ground floor: Porch to tiny hall then left to the dining room with wood and coal stove, the kitchen and the conservatory then out to a small courtyard which is the perfect sun trap. Right from the hall takes you to the living room with open wood and coal fire which can be used as a bedroom sleeping on the bedsette. First floor: Straight stairs up to a landing with a double bedroom with room for the travel cot, at the front of the house, a shower room with walk-in shower, loo and washbasin and a single bedroom with an extra pull out child's bed. We live next door and, hopefully, will be there to welcome you and to deal with any questions or requests at any time during your stay. It is located in one of Norfolk's most picturesque coastal villages. The village itself is now famous for the oldest evidence of human activity outside of Africa with footprints discovered on the beach to be over 900 thousand years old. The cosy local pub, within 50 yards of the cottage, echoes the local connection with Sherlock Holmes author Arthur Conan Doyle who visited many times and wrote one of the detective mysteries here. There is also a small shop and post office in the village. In fact the local villagers will proudly boast of the number of other illustratrious visitors who have been drawn to this unique place from Robinson Cruso author Daniel Defoe, cricketer W.C. Grace, sculptors Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, poet John Betjeman, writer PD James and even the Queen Mother once arriving by helocopter to visit a cousin who lived in the village. The village is a must for those who enjoy the English countryside and its beaches in all seasons. Parking is on the very quiet lane outside the house. Bus stop 20 m from Albion Cottage but with an infrequent country service. Train station 7 miles away. All week long bookings start on a Saturday and short breaks start on a Monday or Friday, except at Christmas. We do not accept short breaks (less than a week) at peak times (school holidays). Out of season we can be more flexible with length of stay and start day. If you have a larger party this property can be booked in conjunction with The Gig House at a special rate (property also on Airbnb).

  • One of the nicest holiday cottages we've stayed in. Beautifully furnished with William Morris and an interesting book collection. Good wifi connection and a copy of Withnail and I! House very well kitted out. The owners are available if anything is required but not at all intrusive. Happisburgh is really delightful, lovely walking and a friendly pub just minutes away. We had a quiet, peaceful break, not a sound to be heard at night, we were sad to leave.

  • Absolutely fabulous - couldn't think of a better place to take a break from a very high pressured job. Location was perfect as was the very relaxing and homely accommodation. Everything we needed, clean and great location to the sea and not far away from restaurants and shops. Dog friendly which was a must. As a cycling family (two out of four of us anyway) great to get out on the roads to explore. Will go again for sure. Thank you Liz.

  • A beautiful Victorian cottage with great attention to detail. Really well equipped, comfortable and cosy. Perfect for walks along the beautiful coast. We loved it

    Maureen2015-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • Felt very welcome, the cottage is beautiful and authentically Victorian with loads of careful detailing. Equipped with everything we could possibly need. Set in lovely village and short walk to beach.

    Angela2014-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was just as we'd imagined from the photographs - atmospherically decorated, well appointed and cosy. It feels a bit like stepping back in time, but with all mod cons included. I'm sure it'd be great in winter with a fire on the go and candles lighting the room. Albion Cottage is right next to Happisburgh's beautiful church, and a short distance from the beach damatically covered in erosion breakers. We found good walks and eating places not too far from the village. Anyone supplying a (lovely) complimentary clotted cream tea on arrival gets my vote, and Liz was very welcoming, giving us our info and letting us know she would be on hand if needed (plus a pint of milk). Fantasic place.

    Derek2014-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely break in this beautiful cottage and would highly recommend it. Close to the beach and a good local pub with good food too

    Lynn2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Liz was a great host. When we arrived we were welcomed with a couple of scones with jam and cream in the fridge. Also, a pint of milk and tea an docffea beans were at our disposal. The cottage was as described and a wonderfully cosy and truly charming place. As we were travelling with a eight months old, we were delighted to hear the cottage was equiped with all the necessary euiqpment such as travelcot, baby bath and a high chair. As we overlooked Liz' initial message about how to get into the cottage, friendly local people helped us find the house where Liz lives. We truly enjoyed our stay at Albion Cottage and will recommend it to friends and family.

    Thomas2015-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Albion Cottage is truly stunning, a real gem. The interior decoration is perfect, beautiful soft furnishings and quality wallpapers in every room. We couldn't believe how well equipped the kitchen and bathroom were, a real home from home. The owner, Liz, is very friendly and helpful. On arrival, we were greeted with a plate of delicious mince pies and bottle of mulled wine. We were both sad to leave Albion Cottage and can't wait for a return visit.

Little Thrums offers that little bit more than the average bed & breakfast. The annex is situated in the garden of Thrums, a listed thatched weavers' cottage built in the 18th century. Thrums was the location for North Norfolk's Come Dine with Me. Scrumptious breakfasts served in the main cottage catering for all dietary requirements. Doggies welcome.
Little Thrums has been tastefully converted into a one bedroom ensuite and offers wifi, TV, ipod player, hairdryer, tea/coffee making facilities, towelling bath robes and underfloor heating. Little Thrums has its own front door with large windows looking out over the garden which guests are welcome to use.
The annex, Little Thrums, is situated in the heart of the old village and adjacent to the Monastery. Happisburgh has so much to offer. The iconic Happisburgh lighthouse, the beautiful 15th century church, pub and nearby lifeboat station. The beach is unspoiled and vast and a fisherman's haven with plenty of seabass and more in the sea. We also have friendly seals in the bay. There's so much to discover and explore along the North Norfolk coast and inland. Other places of interest nearby include access to the Broads, East Ruston gardens, the Weaver's Way, Wroxham, Cromer, Waxham and National Trust properties Blickling Hall and Felbrigg plus so much more.
  • Well this was our first experience of a weekend away courtesy of air bnb, and what a great experience it was too. Little Thrums was a great property, clean and well equipped for what we needed for a relaxing break. Denise and Stephen were lovely hosts and made us feel very relaxed in their company. Denise marked our fifth wedding anniversary with a special gift from the beach which was so sweet of her. Little Thrums is a good base to visit the North Norfolk coast and the local pub had a fantastic selection of real ales. So all in all we had a very enjoyable time and will be visiting again.

  • We had the most wonderful weekend staying at Little Thrums. Denise and Stephen are brilliant hosts - they made us feel very welcome and gave us some great tips on places to visit plus brilliant places to eat! The annex is a joy to stay in - clean and very nicely decorated. We really enjoyed relaxing there with the tea and biscuits provided. The location is superb - the local pub is friendly and serves good food. The beach is only a short walk away and is such a beautiful spot. The location is perfect for easily exploring other beaches and towns in Norfolk. Breakfast was gorgeous! We enjoyed every bit of it while being made to feel very welcome (especially our dog Bruce who fell in love with Denise!) We can't wait to visit again!

  • Staying at Thrums was just what we needed. Beautiful location. Really comfy accommodation. Fantastic hosts and the most delicious breakfast ever. Cannot fault our stay at all!!!

  • Our 3rd visit to little thumbs and it was marvellous as always. The breakfasts are incredible! Stephen picked up some sour dough for us specially. So thoughtful. Denise and Stephen are super hosts and have lots of amazing local knowledge which has been invaluable for our Happisburgh wedding plans!

  • Denise is a fantastic host - organised, efficient and very kind. Nothing was too much for her and she was truly the best air b & b host I've come across. The location is fantastic, right in the heart of a beautiful village, near the pub and at the start of an easy and very lovely walk to a long, sandy beach that didn't get crowded at all in our August stay. Denise clearly cares about her community & knows what's going on so makes great recommendations for trips locally. Denise dealt with our dairy free allergy related diet with no fuss at all & the breakfasts were declicious. If you stay here you'll be so well looked after!

  • A very warm welcome from Denise, Steven, and furry friends Molly & Milly. The annex is beautifully furnished and a perfect hideaway for a cozy nights sleep. A conveniently located pub is 20metres stumble away, where we were very welcome and enjoyed locally brewed Dancing Men Brewery beers. Beach walks are a stones throw away. The hearty breakfast kept us going til mid afternoon each day. We liked it so much we booked again straight away for the beer festival in June. We also joined as friends of the Happisburgh lighthouse. Highly recommend Little Thrumbs and Happisburgh for a completely charming and homely break.

Secluded and beautiful village campsite in the heart of the Norfolk broads is where your very own Pod awaits! If canvas camping is not your thing! Panic not! As the largest broad in Norfolk and its outstanding coastline, Hickling Campsite is the perfect base to go exploring by bike, boat or foot! The campsite is in an area of extremely low light pollution, and with your very own fire pit what better way is there to catch a shooting star or two!
The Pod is a super impressive cabin with plug, USB sockets and lights to make your stay all the more comfortable. With your very own indoor table that folds down to make an uber comfy double bed! All you will need to bring is bedding, sheets, towels, toiletries, food and perhaps a gas stove and of course, your sense of adventure.
  • A beautiful location, peaceful, scenic and we really enjoyed sitting outside with the fire pit in the evening. Lovely!

A stunning Arts & Crafts house in a peaceful, beautiful location in the historic coastal village of Happisburgh; The house is full of light, antique furniture but modern amenities too. Plenty of room for everyone, warm and well cared for. Great for family get togethers and peaceful breaks with the dogs. The enclosed garden is huge and all yours to enjoy. The sandy beach is a short walk away and the countryside is open and easy for walking. The famous Norfolk Broads are close by too.
This quintessentially English country Arts and Crafts design house is unique and very spacious. It has its own secure grounds, enormous garden and plenty of parking within the grounds. The house has lots of space with the airy kitchen/diner and snug being at the heart of it.
The village is very quiet and quintessentially English. The bells being rung at the nearby local church can be heard on a Sunday morning. On a summer's day the sound of cricket or bowls being played on the nearby pitches can be heard and the sound of the waves lapping on the shore drifts up too. The iconic red and white striped lighthouse dominates the area as does the famous church and both have open days where you can climb up to the top and see for miles! There is a small shop/post office and an excellent fresh fish shop both within a short walk. There is a cafe at the other end of the cliffs - Smallsticks Cafe - and a tearoom in the village. The popular local pub is a very short walk away (does food, dog friendly) and has a separate, small restaurant (Happisburgh Halt) attached. They serve a lot of real ales and their annual beer festival is very popular! During the summer months the funky, retro Burgers By The Beach van is also open serving it's very popular burgers and local cake. Do you get the impression we like our food round here!? Children who want to play have the choice of the safe, sand beach and two play areas, including one with a zip wire and climbing frames! Dogs who want to play have the huge garden and the beach where dogs are welcome year round. The Norfolk Broads are just a short drive away and you can do some great day trips to the North Norfolk coast, towns and beaches and into the fabulous city of Norwich.

  • Rosie's barn is a great place to stay on the Norfolk coast. Quiet, clean and cosy rooms with lots to do nearby. We stayed for three nights, the breakfasts were delicious and Rosie was so informative each morning with tips on where to go and what to see! Happisburgh lighthouse is well worth a visit, as are the seals at Horsey. Would definitely recommend :)

  • This is in an ideal place to visit quite a few places, the beach nearby is lovely. The greeting we received on arrival was most welcoming, Rosie is a great host, nothing was too much trouble, recommend some places to eat and printed a map for us. The breakfast was good. The room was clean and the communal room was a great bonus. Highly recommend this as a great base.

  • We loved this place. Rosie and Dave were fab. The accommodation in a really old converted barn was stunning and the evening walk into the village for pub grub and local ale was the perfect end to each day. Thanks guys. We'll be back. Glen and Julie.

  • Rosie is an exceptional host. Her breakfasts are amazing, beautifully cooked and lots of choice. We were extremely well looked after. Rosie is a very warm host and very happy to share her vast knowledge of the area. It is a beautiful hideaway in a perfect location. We will be visiting again, hopefully very soon. Highly recommended.

  • Fabulous couple of days. Rosie is a very welcoming host and offered some great tips. Breakfast choice was great and very filing! The barn is cosy and a nice base. My only recommendation would be to put a radio in the kitchen or main room. As a lone traveller it would be nice to have especially for the evening by the fire.

A pet friendly brick and flint cottage in the heart of Happisburgh on the Norfolk coast. The Gig House is perfect for summer breaks or winter escapes alike and is ideally located just 10 minutes from a glorious sandy beach.
The Gig House sleeps: 2 adults and a baby/toddler. We welcome pets - up to 2 large or medium dogs or 3 small dogs, 2 cats and any pet in a cage - and charge £25 per dog or cat per visit. We live across the courtyard and, hopefully, will be there to welcome you and to deal with any questions or requests at any time during your stay. Parking is in the courtyard or on the very quiet lane outside the house. If you have a larger party this property can be booked in conjunction with Albion Cottage at a special rate (property also on Airbnb).

  • The accommodation was even better than expected. The welcome was great, we arrived quite late in the evening, so it was great to be greeted with a couple of scones to refresh us. Everything was in very good order, spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained. Couldn't have been better.

  • We had a fantastic time here! Beautiful scenery along the coast. The house was just as described and we thought it was a lovely place to unwind. We loved having the log burner going in the evening, which was stocked with plenty of wood for our stay. We would certainly recommend this to our friends. Thank you!

  • Wonderful place to stay and so kind of Liz to accommodate us at the last minuite. Really enjoyed the area, the cottage and would definitely visit again!

    Nick2015-12-12T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived in the dark, rather frazzled from the drive, but Liz was there immediately, and showed us where to find things and made us feel very welcome. The cottage really lives up to expectations, tastefully decorated and comfortably furnished. We loved the large window where we sat for meals. It's great for a winter break because the underfloor heating keeps everything at a lovely temperature - we never felt the need to light the woodburner. Everyone comments about the home-made scones, jam & cream quite understandably - they tasted delicious. There were other, more unexpected nice touches - milk in the fridge, fresh coffee beans, tea and sugar - so you can feel you're really relaxed on arrival. The setting is very quiet and peaceful, opposite the Church, and only a quick stroll to the friendly pub in the evening. Good walks from the cottage to the beach in both directions

  • The Gig House was wonderful, cosy, very comfortable, and quiet. I had a fantastic time sitting by the fire, eating the delicious scones and listening to the wind! Perfect location, and a very nourishing space. Thank you for such attention to detail, I felt very cared for as a guest.

  • Our stay in Happisburgh was great and the Gig house was just lovely, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer place. Liz was a great host, she’s created a gorgeous cottage with all the amenities and little extras you might need. Couldn’t recommend it enough!

  • Great place to explore Norfolk, short walk to the beach, Liz introduced herself on our first day, let us know about some very interesting places to visit. We had a terrific weeks holiday. House was well equipped with everything we needed.

  • Stayed for 3 nights in November for my daughters first birthday. The gig house is a lovely little place to stay. Really stylishly renovated. Everything you need to keep you comfortable. Nice touch to find scones, cream and jam on arrival. Really warm with the under floor heating. It was exactly what I was expecting from the description and photos on the website. Liz greeted us when we arrived and was very friendly. So, staying anywhere with a crawling and furniture cruising 1 year old is going to be tricky. The downstairs is brick flooring (nice and warm with the under floor heating), but not ideal for crawling around on, I only mention this as if staying with a baby I'd recommend you bring a large play matt or soft floor tiles to make it more comfortable for them. As the upstairs is lovely wood flooring, but the type where some of the nails are slightly raised. Doesn't affect you to walk on, but not great for crawling hands and knees. Liz has provided a high chair, stair gate and travel cot, so that is very handy. The layout is open plan, so we just didn't leave our daughter alone in the room, as plenty of things for her to cause trouble with (draws, oven doors and wood burning stove - we didn't use this for that reason, but when she tried to grab it she had black hands). saying this, I would stay there again with my toddler, as anywhere you stay whilst away is not going to be baby proof, and the gig house is small enough that we could always see her and keep her safe. The village of happisburgh is a great base to explore Norfolk. 2 mins drive to a wide sandy beach and great coastal walks. The next village along has a great pub "the lighthouse inn" I think it is called, which we had a really nice meal in. Also right next door to Cromer and Yarmouth. Overall the gig house is great. I would definitely recommend it. It is ideal for couples and manageable with a baby.
