A peaceful retreat to call your own, nestled in the lush hardwood forest of Eastern Kentucky. This handcrafted open concept cottage sits on 250 acres overlooking a creek, surrounded by miles of hiking and nature trails available for your enjoyment. As you drive up the private lane to Creekside Cottage your cares just melt away. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The sights and sounds of nature surround you and you can choose what to do… sit on the deck and take it all in, write your next novel, cook a gourmet meal, bird watch, hike, mountain bike, or star gaze. While you are here, you may also want to visit some of the unique natural areas and parks, museums, and antique shops nearby. Please refer to the Guidebook for area attractions. From the cottage you have complete privacy and cannot see our home, which is an easy quarter mile walk down the lane if you need us. Cell service in the “holler” is spotty to nonexistent, for this reason we provide a landline and wifi for your use. The cottage was hand-built and has many custom details that make it feel like home. The space is handicap accessible, with an open concept kitchen, dining and living area and a roll-in shower, with wide doors to the bathroom and bedrooms. Please note, at this time there is not a ramp onto the deck. The wrap around deck is spectacular, with 600 square feet of outdoor living space, including Adirondack chairs, grill, and cozy screened-in porch which is perfect for reading a book and listening to the night sounds. You are welcome to enjoy the nature trails and old logging roads on the property. When enjoying the cottage we will assist you in any way we can, otherwise we will honor your privacy. If we are available, we would be happy to give you a tour of the wood working shop and other projects on the farm, such as our organic garden and on-going hardwood timber stand improvements. You can even help us if you'd like! We are happy to show you our residence as well as the workshop and surrounding buildings, however, we ask that you work out a time to do this with us. This is for your safety. Our property is in a rural setting in the Appalachian foothills of Eastern Kentucky. We are located 3 miles from the quaint town of Vanceburg where you can find a grocery, pharmacy, gas station, cafe and carry-out. Note, we would suggest BYOB if you are looking for craft beer or good wine. You will need a car as there is no public transportation available. There are many wonderful places to visit in the area, please refer to the Guidebook for additional information.
  • Our stay was everything we hoped for and more! The house was comfortable and well supplied, and the surroundings were quiet, peaceful, and a short drive to both historical sites and state parks. Laurie and Phil were terrific hosts.

  • Wanna Get Away to get back with Nature in a House Inspired by the land and Hand built by the host? This is the Place to be, Its Calm and Beautiful and made to get you back to nature yet provide you with conveniences that are far above camping like Wifi and Air Condition. The House is mostly Windows and feels Bright and Beautiful. Trees and Greenery surround the house and it feels like your getting back to nature. The House features a Deck that wraps around with plenty of areas to read inside and out. The Kitchen and BBQ pit are a plus in case you want to cook. The Hosts are welcoming and wonderful. They have thoughtfully left out a TV so that you can enjoy the land and scenery and really get inspired by the sounds of nature including a creek right next to the house. NO CELL PHONE SERVICE so you can finally pull your kids away from the staring at those small screens. Or give your time to your love or significant the way only being without a cell phone can do. I brought a guitar and found this was the perfect place to get inspiration to play. I read a lot and really enjoyed my conversations with my partner. I sat and had breakfast every morning in the little sunroom they had it was particularly beautiful when it rained one morning. I would highly recommend this place we all need a little time to enjoy the finest things nature has to offer and this little spot definitely made me feel refreshed. ----Note this spot is remote and has no cell service, well water (but our host supplied Bottled cause they know some people don't like well) no TV and No distractions (minus the internet) ITS PERFECT :)

  • Great host... soothing creek alongside the cottage bedroom patio... no tv's just peace and quiet. If your looking for a place to slow down and bond with your family, this is it.

    Derrick2017-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed staying at Laurie & Phil's place. Our boys liked playing in the creek and the secluded nature of the location was nice for getting away from the city. If you like bird-watching, this is a great spot to do it! The hosts were quite hospitable.

  • Creekside cottage is a beautiful getaway! The cottage is open and spacious, clean and comfortable, quiet and secluded. The property is beautiful and well maintained. Laurie & Phil are friendly and helpful. We cherished our weekend getaway at this picturesque hollow in the woods of Kentucky. Treasured memories built here!!

    shana2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Laurie and Phil are wonderful, gracious hosts and Creekside Cottage couldn't have been a more perfect place to relax and unwind for the weekend. Thanks for everything. We hope to return.

    Ken2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the cottage in the woods was fantastic! Laurie and Phil were kind and generous hosts. The logistics of our stay were super smooth and Laurie and Phil also took the time to show us around their home, workshops, and garden and gave us a tour of their property. We learned a lot about the forest and how they are caring for it and we also got to indulge in some delicious sweet corn which we plucked off the stalk ourselves. The cottage itself was so thoughtfully designed and incredibly comfortable. We loved cooking in the sunlit kitchen, eating dinner by candlelight on the screened-in porch, and playing Yatzee in the cozy family room. We hope to come back some day to see what more Laurie and Phil have created and we would recommend a stay in the Holler to anyone. Prepare to be impressed!

    Diana2016-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for the weekend and the cottage had everything we could have wanted and more! The scenery on the drive in and around the cottage was breath-taking, and the cottage itself was a beautifully crafted little home. We brought food/bought it in town and the kitchen and grill had everything we needed to cook our meals. The furnishing was comfy and homey and the screen porch was perfect for eating meals on. Laurie and Phil were perfect hosts, making sure we got settled and then minding our privacy for the stay while staying available for any questions. We even got a full tour of their gardens, project shop, and their beautiful house that they built themselves! Would highly recommend and will hopefully return sometime!

  • Ginger's Cabin in the woods is such a treasure - perfect to relax and decompress! Be sure to get directions in because cell service is spotty at best. Cabin was well stocked and lovingly maintained. Perfect to read a book, build a fire and enjoy nature. Can't beat the price either!

    Eva2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was so cute! A lot of love went into building it and you can tell. We enjoyed the secluded nature of this property, and this is the perfect getaway for anyone needing a break from city life. Virginia was a wonderful host and answered any questions promptly. Thank you again!

    Jaime2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was amazing! Such a pleasant and welcoming place. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen was great, and the nature around the cabin was much needed. It was surprising how short of a distance you needed to walk to feel as if you're in the woods/ some other more secluded place. All the attention to detail that is going into the construction/decoration of the cabin should not go unnoticed. All in all this cabin isn't just a place to stay, it's a destination all on its own.

    Anastasiya2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cabin had everything you need and everything that you don't! Recommend for couples.

  • Place is amazing...remote and quiet. Comfortable seats for writing at the table (which I spent most of my hours doing). Next time I will have to stay longer and set aside time for playing croquet!

  • Rebecca was very helpful and called before we arrived to see if all was set. The location was bucolic and as described in the listing. Everything was available to enjoy both indoor and outdoor environments.

    Ann2015-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was as described. We had a great family get away and went to Serpent Mound (about 45 minute drive) and hiked at the Edge of Appalachia preserve (about 20 minutes away). This was the cleanest Airbnb we have stayed at so far. Would highly recommend.

    Andrew2016-11-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Hopewell Croft Cabin! When I had found this listing I couldn't believe how perfect it was for what we were looking for. The cabin was big enough for six people, very clean and stocked with everything we needed to cook throughout the weekend. Rebecca was very communicative when booking and beforehand. She was always available to answer any questions prior to our stay. There was never a question too inane for her to answer quickly and thoroughly. When they say out of the way they really mean it. Most of us weren't able to get a signal and that was fine with us. It was nice to just get away for a weekend and I wish it hadn't rained for a majority of the weekend (but that's obviously not the cabins fault). This was the perfect experience and I can't complement Rebecca enough for setting up such an affordable and cozy cabin.

    Christopher2017-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • Hopewell Croft was an exceptional place to stay. Peaceful and beautiful with all the amenities we needed. Our host was great at communicating leading up to our visit. Immaculately clean and well stocked with whatever we needed. I will stay again when I come into town!

    Leslie2015-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at the Hopewell Croft house was awesome! I spent 2 nights here with a small group of entrepreneurial friends for a retreat. What a great house! Very, very nice place with extreme attention to detail and lots of special, custom features. And the upstairs loft and bunk setup, while ideal for kids, was actually quite fun for adults! We made use of the stone fire pit as well and enjoyed the stars. Rebecca was a great host and was very helpful in suggesting some local places to eat, should we decide to venture out. I would definitely recommend the Hopewell Croft house as a great place and a super value!

Come and relax in a setting that will transcend you back to the pioneering days of our ancestors all awhile providing you with the modern conveniences of today. Our Cabin is nestled on a ridge on the back of our farm where the only lights and sounds are mother natures.
This cabin has been in our Family since our ancestors settled here in foothills of the Appalachian mountains in the early 1800's. In 2008 we moved the cabin and modernized it while keeping the charm of a Classic Hand Hewn Log Cabin.
The ability to transcend yourself to a place to where you will feel there is virtually no one else on the earth is very unique. Sitting on the large wrap around porch and reconnecting to your inner sole is very relaxing while you think of those who pioneered the great American spirit will give you a new perspective on the world. Staying in a place that has withstood the test of time with very little change while the world has changed dramatically since hands put it together is truly unique and inspiring.
  • Beautiful cabin back in the woods. Loved the decor and the wrap around porch. Bedroom was upstairs in a loft which was very hot. The bed was also extremely firm which was not our preference. We also had difficulty reaching our host for the address.

    Amber2017-06-18T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was wonderful and everything we needed. We had a family reunion in the area and this was the perfect place to stay rather than try to find a hotel. We loved the scenery and quietness. The hosts were so nice and we couldn't have asked for a better weekend stay. We will definitely re-book if we are in the area again!

  • This remote country getaway not only lived up to but it exceeded expectations. This is the perfect location to get away from your busy life and enjoy the scenery around you. Additionally, the hosts were very helpful and accommodated all of our needs. I would definitely suggest this place for anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of Kentucky nature!

    Nicholas2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Connie and Mike were fantastic hosts, very welcoming and went above and beyond to make the most of our time there. The cabin itself was a lovely get away from busy day to day life and we really enjoyed having time together without mobile phones! Very pleased with everything and we even got a Ranger Tour of their property which was awesome!

    Jade-Louise2017-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place to disconnect. The cabin and property were beautiful. Mike and Connie were very welcoming and Rupp (the homestead black lab) was a great pal all weekend. Everything was as advertised and more, cant say enough about this unique get-a-way experience. Thank you.

    Jason2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at Mike and Connie's place! The cabin and location are simply gorgeous. We were very impressed with the restoration of the cabin. The kids loved playing on the porch and running around the cabin. Mike and Connie are very friendly, and great hosts. Take marshmallows to make s'mores on the fire pit in the barn. The fire pit was ready to use: we just needed to light it up! We will definitely come back!

    Marie-Catherine2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin and property are both amazing. Very spacious, has everything you need and quiet. Comfortable beds and beautiful scenery. We watched deer and turkey roam right near the cabin. The barn near the cabin is so nice and great place to eat meals while enjoying the weather. Mike & Connie were incredible host and made us feel like we were staying with family. Their communication and accommodating was world class. We have found our place to stay in this part of Kentucky

Spend the evening kicked back on the large screened in porch watching deer, turkey and other wildlife. We built this cabin 10 years ago as our weekend getaway and hunting hideaway. Our property lays just yards away from the Fleming Wildlife Management where guest can enjoy hunting or horseback riding. Upstairs you will find a kitchen with about anything you can think of, while the downstairs is laid out like a western bunkhouse complete with large walk-in shower and porch.

In town on business, a vacation or visiting family? This is a great place to stay for two nights or a week. The top floor has two full bedrooms and a full bath. The front room on the main floor has a full size bed and pull out couch. The price per night is for the first person. Please be sure to select the correct number of guests in the guest box for an accurate cost of your stay.
Our home is a three story brick that dates back to the early 1900s and is located in the historic district of downtown Maysville, Kentucky. The bottom level is a private, walk-out apartment. The main floor and top floor are available to you. We love downtown Maysville and we like to give travelers visiting our city the opportunity to live like a local. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a sunroom with a twin bed, a large eat in kitchen and living room. Two bedrooms and one bath are located on the top floor. The bedroom located on the main floor also has a pull out couch. The house is completely furnished and the kitchen is stocked with all you need to eat a bowl of cereal or cook a full meal. There is a side porch where you can sit, relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the afternoon. If you are looking for the perfect place to spend two nights or the week, this is it!
We are within walking distance of O'Rourke's Pub, where you can order a pizza and a beer; the Crowe Bar, where you can catch a local band playing on the weekend or enjoy a drink in their courtyard, Buck’s Barbecue for some delicious brisket; and Chandler's, a local restaurant where you can relax over a great meal. Also Chandler's Bar, which is smokefree, is a beautifully renovated space where you can enjoy a drink and an order of delicious pork rinds! Delites has a wonderful breakfast and the Parc Café has a beautiful courtyard where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or an item from their excellent lunch selection. New to the area is Syleetos where you can get freshly made tortillas paired with high quality, healthy ingredients for a delicious "Roll Your Own" burrito!
  • I love this home. The history is great and Tina has thought of everything someone may need being away from home. If you forget something, don't worry it's probably there. ;) The home is incredibly spacious and the neighbors were so friendly. We enjoyed our stay and always love visiting Maysville. We will definitely be back.

    Jessica2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The historic house has a great old staircase inside and a metal spiral staircase outside. The owners have included displays of the history of the area. It was neat that the owners of the old structures in Maysville are working to save and renovate their buildings. The neighbors are very friendly. The house has been fully renovated with a great kitchen and baths, one with a jacuzzi. There are three to four sleeping areas. Plenty of room to spread out. Being in the center of Maysville, it was easy to walk around to view the other old buildings or just walk to great restaurants, such as Chandler's. But even in the city you can relax on the porch and enjoy nature. We frequently saw Northern Orioles. There were many wonderful gardens in bloom.

    George2017-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Tina had everything set up perfect for us when we arrived. She left us bagels, cream cheese, fruit, orange juice, coffee and milk for breakfast. The older areas of the house are an amazing step back in history. The floors and stairs creak some but the house is over 100 years old! The newer areas of the house including the kitchen and bathrooms are well done. The side porch was great for evening sitting and chatting and early morning coffee. There always seemed to be a light breeze blowing through when we were out there. The neighborhood is older smaller houses and row houses. The houses across the street were beautiful and well kept. A few houses down the street looked a bit run down, but the area is well lit at night and we felt safe being on the porch and walking back and forth from the car at night. The couple people we spoke to were friendly. We would certainly come back here if we were going to be in the area again.

  • Tina's home was perfect for our family reunion. Her home was very clean and had anything we could possibly need! Our group of 6 felt very comfortable and used the common spaces to play games in the evening. It is within walking distance of Downtown Maysville, and we enjoyed some evening walks by the bridge. Thank you Tina for a wonderful stay!

  • Would highly recommend for anyone traveling in or near Maysville.

    Shannon2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tina's house is beyond amazing and spactious! The included history of the house & town adds that extra charm. Tina is super welcoming and can help with anything you need. Market Street is absolutely awesome too, breakfast at Delites is delicious and we had a few nightcaps at The Crowe Bar where the bartender is friendly & drinks are cheap. Be sure to walk around the neighborhood and down to the riverfront to see the sites. Don't forget to say hey to the block kitty that greats you every morning. Maysville is a great little town with plenty of charm.

    Resh2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely fabulous! Maysville is one of the most charming towns I have visited and this home is right in the downtown area, close to all the shops and restaurants! The home was so comfortable and super well presented. Everything you could need or want for a great stay is available for you. My partner and I loved staying in Tina's home and she made it so easy to check in and everything inside is so easily accessible. I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the Maysville area.

This space is located in the Boneyfiddle Historic District which is right along the Ohio River in downtown Portsmouth, Ohio. If you enjoy the arts, take a stroll along the floodwall murals which depict the history of the area, see a show at the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts on the campus of Shawnee State University, or see an exhibit at the Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center. Interested in shopping? The shops along Second and Market Streets offer antiques, clothing, hardware, and more. While there is a full kitchen for cooking your own meals, there are several locally owned restaurants (many within walking distance) if you want someone else to do the work. We enjoy what downtown Portsmouth has to offer and hope that you will, too.
  • This place is amazing! Absolutely beautiful and well appointed in an historic area. Check in was basically effortless and Heather was very responsive to communication. I wish I could live here!! If you are in this area and you need a place to stay, this is the place.

  • Amazing place a must stay. Take a good look around the apartment and see all the texture and different finishes in wood and metal. Wonderful and definitely will stay again when I pass thru.

  • Cute little downtown. Tiny but lots of great shops to explore, and a good café. A great space to relax and chill.

    robert2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this place! It is in a great location. Only minor complaint is no wifi but I was able to use my phone as a hotspot because I had a good signal.

  • Charming apartment in a fantastic location. Restaurants and shops all within short walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.

    Kelly2017-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment was very cozy, clean, and had lots of character in the details. We were pleasantly surprised by the apartment after we arrived. There wasn't much to the town itself and we ended up going to the grocery store for food.

    Nicole2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Such a super cool place, and just a couple blocks to the historic murals/riverfront. Restaurants within walking distance. Definitely a must stay. Heather was a great host and check in was simple.

Moon River is a bed and breakfast in beautiful, historic downtown Maysville, KY We live here as well but have separate space. You as guests can enjoy the living / dining areas of the first floor in addition to you bedroom. PRICE IS FOR ONE ROOM
Our bed and breakfast is located in historic downtown Maysville, KY. Maysville is such a treasure of museums, architecture, and culture- including a 1st class theater! Come stay with Mike and Marti Insko and take-in the town. We have 3 rooms each with a private bath, decorative fireplaces, cable tv's with DVD players, refridgerators, and wireless internet. (Limit is two people per room.) Our Suite Retreat located on the lower level has its own entrance plus washer / dryer and kitchenette. Breakfast is always delectable as Marti teaches culinary classes in addition to owning and managing the bed and breakfast. Mike is a retired musician / teacher and knows Maysville like the back of his hand.
Cox Row is just cool, not to mention Historic recorded homes, churches, and the Cox Building just to mention a few. Our Gateway Museum with world famous (really!) miniature Collection is worth the trip to Maysville. Oh, did I mention our local theatre (Google -Maysville Players) or our Chandlers Restaurant? People regularly drive from Cincy to eat at Chans.
  • It was like visiting family. We got there a little early and that was fine. My husband stayed up late to socialize and they were most hospitable. The breakfast was delicious. The house was right in town. It couldn't have been a better place to stay and learn about Mayesville.

    Lori2016-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Central location. Great breakfast.Even gluten free food. Historical themed rooms.

    Michael2016-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • Martha and Mike were extremely kind and easygoing about our expected arrival getting latter and later. The house is beautiful, the neighborhood was beautiful. Both a shower and a bathtub was available for the room. The bathtub had candles and bath salts readily available. The bed was extremely comfortable and the sheets divine. Everything was very clean. Would recommend highly.

  • The hosts were absolutely delightful and their bed and breakfast was very comfortable and nestled in an adorable town. A wonderful experience:-)

  • We enjoyed our stay at Moon River B&B very much. Mike and Marti were very helpful and accommodating. We liked the large private suite we stayed in with its own door out to the back patio and alley. The breakfast they prepared for us was delicious, too.

    Jay2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Marti was a warm, wonderful, accommodating host. We are currently driving across the south on the way to Colorado, and we are interested in meeting many people and sharing stories. Marti spent several hours talking to us about her bed and breakfast, about Maysville, and about Southern history. She gave us several maps and pamphlets and spent a lot of time telling us about neat things to see nearby. Before we even to Maysville, she sent us some recommendations. We were driving from West Virginia where, because of recent storms and power outages, gas stations for miles and miles were out of gas. This delayed us quite a bit and we got in way past check in time, but Marti was really nice about it and even waited up for us. The rooms were gorgeous. Marti knows a lot about interior design and you can stay in the Civil War room or the Maysville room! Maysville is also gorgeous and we had a lot of fun walking around. Marti also made us a delicious breakfast and gave us book recommendations. I would recommend this bed and breakfast to those who love chatting, learning, and pretty things. :

  • They made a work trip wonderful; wish i could have stayed longer!

    Sarah2017-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • The room was excellent, the breakfast was very good. And the host was extremely friendly. The location is 1 block off the historic downtown or main street. Downtown was a little quieter than I thought as most of the upper rooms are storage and not rented out, but the architecture was incredible. For a town it's size it was a great weekend trip. I would highly recommend it.

Located in the Boneyfiddle Historic District, this house is a short distance from Shawnee State U., Southern Ohio Medical Center/Life Center, and most other points of interest. The owner usually resides on the premises, but guests will use the master bedroom, secured by a deadbolt lock. Do you have a short-term work contract? Deep weekly and monthly discounts and the conveniences and comforts of home (fully equipped kitchen and on-site laundry) make this a great option for you.
Built in 1843, this house was once owned by riverboat captain Creed Milstead, who was the mayor of Portsmouth at the turn of the 20th century. This house has been well maintained and was once operated as a traditional bed and breakfast/extended stay unit.
-The neighborhood is very quiet, especially in the evenings. -There are relatively few residents on this street since the surrounding buildings are mainly used as courthouse offices and law offices. -The immediate neighborhood and the downtown area are great, safe places to walk, at any hour.
  • The room was exactly as advertised; spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. The Sleep Number bed was perfect for me. The alarm clock has two USB charging ports (very convenient for business travelers) and the ceiling fan was very quiet. Justin was a wonderful host; there was an assortment of coffees and breakfast items in the kitchen. All linens were of high quality and clean. Added to the comfortable surroundings was the experience of staying in a historic riverboat captain's house. Parking was easy and the place is way to find and close to everything in Portsmouth. I recommend it for business travelers, vacationers, and college parents visiting their children. I'm planning to stay here my next time in Portsmouth!

    Raymond2016-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Justin is a consummate host. I arrived to find an immaculate room and house. All the amenities were top notch. Justin's communication with me was professional and very cordial. The room is spacious and well-appointed; there is a TV but I was too busy to use it. USB charging stations kept my electronics going. The stairs are a bit steep compared to modern houses, but are solid and have good footing. The house as a whole is charmingly decorated and within easy walking distance of virtually everything in Portsmouth. Restaurants, shops, a cafe and churches are minutes away by car or on foot. Portsmouth is picturesque, with some unavoidable decay in the downtown region. The floodwall murals are amazing; they are also just a short jaunt from Justin's house.

    Raymond2017-04-16T00:00:00Z
  • Justin's AirBnB was better than we had hoped. It looked great on the site, but was even better in person. It's a wonderful house. Justin is very easy to work with. He responds promptly and accurately to all communications, and he was very helpful and accommodating upon our arrival and during our stay. We'll definitely be going back, and we highly recommend that you give this one a try.

    Jim2016-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Justin and his place were great. He was very accommodating for my long term stay as I am a travel physical therapist. His house was the perfect size for me and bed was incredibly comfortable. Justin knows the city of Portsmouth so well he might as well be a city historian. The historic house is cool and quirky.

    Chris2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Justin was a very friendly, very helpful host. Beautiful old house with historic details. Should have liked a longer stay.

    Polly2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely welcoming host.

    Frank2017-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is the second time my family stayed at Justin's place. We're as happy as the first time. Justin is a great host! The house is awesome! It's very historic, and it is in a quiet and safe neighborhood. He keeps the house very clean. We couldn't ask for a better place.

    Jim2016-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Justin is a very good friend of mine and lovely host, he is very helpful and friendly, I booked this house for my parents, and my parents loved it, nice and clean, historic and beautiful. I highly recommend this house to everyone, I would live there too if I need it. Good luck Justin.

We have a rustic loft with a large inground pool, 3 Great Danes live on the property. The loft has a new queen size bed and there is a comfy sectional couch downstairs. Partial kitchen (with the exception of an oven), bath, washer and dryer. It's the perfect get away for couples, professionals, nature lovers, or anyone who needs a little rest and relaxation. My husband and I enjoy sharing our knowledge of the area and our town's history with our guests.
We are in the city but with 40+ acres we have privacy and are surrounded by mature trees, beautiful birds, deer, hawks, and other wildlife. My husband and I use the pool but for an additional fee you may rent the pool for complete privacy. The pool house is a loft with queen pillow top mattress and sectional couch with a full bath and kitchen. It can sleep up to 4 people, but isn't ideal for small children or elderly, especially if sleeping in the loft. There is a ladder to climb up in the loft to get to the beds. Our space is perfect for a romantic getaway or a nice alternative to a hotel if you are passing through town. The space is ideal for couples, solo travelers, or professionals traveling for business. We are very close to S.O.M.C. and Shawnee State University. Our Great Danes love to meet new people! We are 10 minutes from the Ohio River and have plenty of restaurants nearby. Hunting is forbidden here. Please note that we do get some stink bugs in the fall, it's part of living in our area and the country.
We are 10 minutes from the Ohio River and we go boating often in the warm months. We are also located near SOMC, Shawnee State University, the current Bypass project, and the A-plant. Portsmouth is a pretty town with a rich history. There were many stops on the Underground Railroad in our town. We also have the oldest operating brewery in the state of Ohio. There are beautiful murals on our floodwall by the river, and lots of locally owned restaurants. Our property is very private, you will feel secluded and be surrounded by nature. It is said that the French fur traders used to hide from the Native Americans on our land. There is a CVS, Wendy's, Chinese/Japanese restaurant, and a Pub less than a mile from our house. I recommend Yamato, the Portsmouth Brewery, and the Scioto Ribber. They are all great restaurants!
  • Very friendly, answers messages quickly, nice location. The pool house is clean and comfortable.

    Mark2017-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • I have been staying here while working away from home. I usually stay three nights a week and I have to say this is much more restful than a hotel. This place is perfect if you're looking for a quiet getaway from the daily noise! The three puppies make it seem more like home and after a long day of work, it is nice to sit by the pool and unwind. Rachel and Jack are very welcoming and very down to earth. I would recommend their cozy pool house to anyone in the Portsmouth area.

    Toni John2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the Rustic pool house we stayed in this weekend! Very quiet and relaxing!

    Crystal2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Rachel and Jack are very friendly and great hosts. They gave us good recommendations for food and things to do. There dogs are beautiful and well behaved. The property was beautiful and the pool is amazing. The pool house is cute and was a nice place to stay. It did need a little cleaning when we got in but our reservation was last minute. My only recommendation would be to add a TV but my family had a great time and would love staying again.

    Andrew2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • I stay here while working away from home a few nights a week. Jack and Rachel are wonderful hosts and I enjoy the quiet atmosphere after a long, hard day of work.

    Toni John2017-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Vetters are polite, social hosts and the pool was great! If you're looking for a bit of rest and relaxation, then their pool house is for you. We were able to bring our puppy and he got on well with our hosts' three friendly canines.

    Nick2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The rustic pool house was perfect for my stay away from home while working on the road. The great Danes quickly became my new best friends. The house was always cozy and quiet. Rachel and Jack were wonderful hosts. Perfect for a great stay in Portsmouth!

    Toni John2017-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Great hosts! My only concern regards the loft & the ladder; some may have difficulty maneuvering it, especially for middle-of-the-night bathroom runs. (The couch is very comfortable for one person). The access is easy (7-10 minutes from town); the setting is beautiful and it's great with the pool & the woods.

  • Sandy is new to AirBnB and I hope we left a good impression on her and what she can expect from others. Our place is close to The Ohio River, restaurants and dining, great views, family-friendly activities. You’ll love our place because of the people, the ambiance, the outdoors space, and the light. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families (with kids), and big groups.
  • Gigantic house with tons of beds. If you're worried about there not being enough space for sleeping, there definitely is. A nice kitchen to cook meals in and lots of room for large groups to spread out makes it awesome for reunions and the like. Would definitely book again if the situation arises.

  • Amazing space, perfect for large groups. Pictures do not do it justice, beautiful house. Would absolutely stay again.

  • This place did not disappoint and it was even better than the picture's portrayed it. Perfect location for a large group, as it more than comfortably accommodated over 16 people. Ideal location for a bachelor party. 10/10 would recommend

    Jim2017-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house with everything needed and more. Lack of pictures is surprising as there is much to show off, however it leaves the arrival very fun - the initial exploration of the house was a blast. Awesome woodwork and masonry throughout the home, as well as beautiful bathrooms and kitchen, wifi, several large TVs. I booked this for a bachelor weekend and it could not have been more perfect. Huge yard was great for games. Basement features a wet bar, pool table, large TV, and restroom among some other nice features, and walks out to the enormous concrete patio. Great communication throughout booking and stay. Highly recommend for bachelor getaway.

  • My friends and I came to this cabin for my birthday and I was more than pleased with my stay. Tevis was super helpful and responsive to me the days leading up to my stay. When I arrived there, his friend Tara was there to help show me around the place so I knew where everything was. Which was super helpful because the place is HUGE. She was so friendly and welcoming and it really made me feel super comfortable being there. The place was absolutely beautiful. I was very impressed by it. From the inside to the outside. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Worth every single penny. I would definitely come back and stay again. Thanks again, Tevis!

My place is close to parks and in a beautiful country side setting. You’ll love my place because it is an apt. in a working barn. One downstairs bedroom, the other is upstairs. We have a fun spiral staircase to get to the upstairs bedroom. If you like horses you will enjoy staying here. Easy access to outdoor walking trails, comfy beds, the ambiance. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and furry friends (pets).
    Newly Enlarged and Renovated Bedrooms.
Barn Apt. is inside a working barn. We breed, train, raise our special breed of Smokey Valley Horses. Horses available upon inquiry.
  • Bob and Jane's barnyard apartment is just wonderful. It's delightfully decorated with western decor, very comfortable and fully equipped with a kitchen, wifi, and a lot of extras. Bob and Jane thought everything and made us feel welcome and part of their farm family. The barnyard staff were also very friendly. Overall we had a memorable trip and we will surely be back soon to stay here again.

    Lisa2016-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • This place was awesome. It was very exciting being so close to the horses. Not sure how convenient it is to get anywhere from the location; we only stayed one night and spend the whole time there. Enjoyed walking around exploring the property.

    Alex2017-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice and clean place! Very nice family, thank you for having us.

    John2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • The location of the apartment was beautiful. We were only there for a short one night stay, cannot wait to travel again so we can spend another night at Jane's place. Jane was wonderful. She walked us around the horse barn so our children could see all the horses and have us some recommendations on where to explore. We have 2 children between 2-4; the place is not 100% child proof, but we had zero issues. Will absolutely be back!!!!

    Jessica2017-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • If you have any love for the country this is for you. The most compassionate caring hosts we have ever had. Such a neat experience. You completely forget you're in a barn and when you step inside and by the time you leave you really feel like you're part of the Kentucky horse heritage. We will definitely be back! Jane and her husband make you feel like you're leaving your aunt and uncle's house, we never once felt like strangers. So happy we stayed with them!

    Sandy2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • Charming farm with all the comforts! We enjoyed the grounds and seeing the horses. Jane thought of every detail for us (binder with information on the area, a little history on the farm, snacks, wine, etc.). Shirley checked on us and even gave us a tour of the chapel, it was the highlight of our stay! It was a brief stay, but it left a lasting impression. Truly a gem!

    Mandy2017-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Jane and Bob were excellent hosts. The apartment was even more beautiful in person. If I ever come back that way I will be sure to give Jane a call.

    Michelle2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jane's barn apt was a great place to stay for my fiancé and I while traveling for the holidays. The apt is on the left side of a working barn. You can even see the horses inside from the upstairs bedrooms. Jane had everything ready and even provided a bottle a wine and cookies. 2 notes to future guests: 1. The bedrooms have a twin bed each. 2. The farm hands started coming in and working in the barn at about 4:30am, so if you're a light sleeper maybe have some ear plugs? The noise woke up my fiancé, but I didn't notice. I wish we were able to stay longer and explore the farm, but we were just needing a break from the road.

This lovely creekside cabin is on one of southwestern Ohio's premier deepwater fishing and boating streams. Private and cozy, this Amish-built retreat is meticulously cared for and has a large dock. The hosts are well known for their hospitality.
Eagle Creek Country Cabin is one of the few rental cabins in southwestern Ohio along a deepwater creek where you can ride your kayak, canoe, or pontoon boat right to a dock and walk but a few yards to your cabin. The cabin is one mile upstream from what many say is the deepest, cleanest, and most scenic stretch of the Ohio River. The water depth just off the cabin's private dock is around 19 feet, and huge catfish and many bass inhabit the water's depths. A one-night rate (Sun - Th) is $95. The weekend requires a two night stay and is $230 (Friday & Saturday). There is an additional charge of $15 per night per guest over 4. Children under 5 stay free. Check-in time is 3:00 p.m. and check-out time is 12:00 noon.
Cabin is located in an area of mixed weekend homes and permanent residences. The cabin has a large yard that provides space and privacy. There are many local eateries and national franchise restaurants nearby. Maysville, Kentucky, ten minutes away, is a small city where you can find all your basic needs (i.e Kroger/Walmart etc...) Located five miles away is a nature preserve with miles of hiking.
  • What a beautiful place !! Darci and Steve provided everything you will need to have a relaxing good time. Don't hesitate to book your trip today.

    Bridget2017-06-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. It's my second time here and I see myself coming every summer. The pictures don't even do it justice. It's so beautiful. My favorite thing to do while visiting is to go kayaking. It's awesome that Darci and Steve have two kayaks that you can rent. The cabin itself is so charming. The bed is comfortable. The air conditioner works great. Everything you need to cook meals is provided. I took advantage of the fire pit this year and that was really great. I could go on and on about everything there is to do on the property. Darci and Steve are great. They are accommodating, so kind, and answer back to a text right away. This is my favorite little getaway close to home.

  • Myself and three brothers-in-law were stuck trying to find lodging for the 2013 Kentucky Tough Mudder race across the river in Maysville. All local hotels were booked. We had an early start time and didn't want to have to travel far the morning of the race. Finding this cabin on Airbnb merely 15 minutes from the race site really made our whole trip. Darci and her husband Steven made us feel completely welcome. They set the campfire ring with dry kindling and plenty of free, dry wood, bought some bait worms, bought a TM-themed box of Wheaties for inspiration (with milk and bananas), and even ran back to their house for a pasta pot so we could "carb-up" the night before the race. The race was rough on all of us and the cabin was the perfect place to retreat to and lick our wounds. There was ample hot water for four long, hot showers, a large TV to catch some baseball, and four very comfortable beds. During our stay we also enjoyed their nice cornhole boards, fished off the dock, played cards, and generally relaxed. I recommend this cozy cabin with wonderful hosts to anyone who needs a small home away from home in the Cincinnati area. If you plan to prepare meals for more than one or two, keep in mind that there's no stove or oven, just an electric skillet and dual hot plate. Kitchen utensils are minimal. It's do-able, but takes a little extra juggling in the space available.

  • What a beautiful cabin! We had a fantastic stay. Darci and Steve were generous hosts, the cabin is clean and cozy, and the setting on the lake is idyllic. This was the perfect spot for a few days of quiet and relaxation. We hope to return very soon!

  • My husband and I enjoyed our stay there as a quiet getaway after our wedding. The cabin and location were as described. We had lovely weather our first day and enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the creek and a campfire by the water later that night. When the rain came the following day, we spent a quiet morning under the covered porch before venturing into Cincinnati for the evening. Overall, it was a great experience--quiet, lovely, clean, and welcoming.

  • My wife and I had a relaxing and enjoyable stay at Darci & Steve's cabin. The accommodations were perfect. The surrounding area is surprisingly full of interesting day trips that we hope to return and enjoy. Thank you for a memorable weekend.

  • A fantastic getaway. The cabin itself is meticulously maintained, down to the smallest detail. Clean doesn't begin to describe it - probably more accurate to use "spotless". A hidden gem, one you won't be sorry that you choose! I will be back, for sure.

  • Awesome cabin to visit! Beautiful, and the hosts could not be more welcome. The perfect place to spend an anniversary, and we plan to spend many more to come here.

  • Cabin was cozy and comfortable. Everything was available as if we were home. A bit of a struggle for my handicap husband to go up and down to the creek, but the exercise was good for him and he still enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Love the screened in porch. Had a very relaxing stay.

  • This cabin is perfect for many types of getaways we used it for hunting but it would be great for family with the water access or just quiet getaway weekend everything you need is available on the property highly recommend to anyone

  • We had a great experience with Matt and Jennifer's cabin. They reached out to make sure that we had the proper directions and checked to see if we arrived ok. Matt stopped by later to check on the boats and see if we needed anything. They were wonderful to deal with in every way. The cabin is great and just what we needed for a quick, quiet weekend away from our busy lives. It is very comfortable and the area around it is quiet. It was nice to sit out on the deck and the benches down by the creek to relax. Overall, a great Airbnb experience in every way. Thanks!

  • A beautiful place that made our visit better than ever. The hosts were extremely helpful and made sure we were taken care of from start to finish. We definitely plan to keep this place in mind for future visits!

  • We booked the cottage to visit friends in Ripley. It is all that is described - plus. The plus is the quiet serenity. Fish, deer, hummingbirds, butterflies & more. We enjoyed the paddle boat, hammock, & screened porch. We definitely would like to return, but for a longer stay. The hosts were very welcoming. The cabin was spotless & had more than enough amenities. Thank you for wonderful experience.

The house has a lot of space which is excellent for those wanting to space for the entire family. The house includes a fully equipped kitchen for guests to use, living room with plenty of seating, 5-6 bedrooms, and a fully equipped laundry room. The interior of the home still has that 1901 charm while incorporating modern touches such as lamps with USB ports and light fixtures that dim. The house still has most of the original trim, wood flooring, and fully functional pocket doors.
This house is perfect for anyone who is looking for privacy and a lot of space which is a rarity. While this house will accommodate a very large number of guests as it is spacious, it is also very cozy for just two people. While I do have rules against parties, I am more than willing to accommodate gatherings such as reunions, receptions, or business/club meetings.
Winchester is a very quiet and peaceful town with great neighbors. I personally lived in this house for 10 years and enjoyed my time there. It is a town where you can take long walks late at night and not worry about your safety or just sit on the porch and talk to the locals who walk by.
  • Beautiful home. Very accommodating.

    Jeffrey2016-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • I was passing through the area and needed a place to stay for 3 of us. We didn't want to go to a hotel and I've had good experiences with AieBnB so we found Greg's place. It was perfect, we were able to spread out, stay the night, enjoy a hot shower and get back on the road with no problem. Greg and I emailed and he let me know what I needed to know. He is right, it's a very quiet little town and we enjoyed a little walk around before we headed out to dinner (he gave us a bunch of suggestions for dinner). Thanks Greg!

    Rob2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Greg had explained up front that he respects guests' privacy but is available via the Air Bnb text message portal, and he was good on his word. The key lock-box meant that we could could relax about arrival time. All was as he had described on the listing page, and we were quite pleased with the house and the area. We stayed in WInchester on their Halloween Beggars' Night and enjoyed the informal street parade of parents with costumed children. The house was immaculate and comfortable and all the amenities were available as described. (We didn't even miss not having a tv- we had planned ahead and brought board games.) The yard has been well-tended, and we had a happy hour on the back porch. Greg had left some copies of the Adam's County Visitor's Guide and we used it extensively. As long as people read the descriptions carefully they will not be disappointed. This was an incredible bargain and we wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

    Mary Beth2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Great experience overall. The check in process was very easy and the house was clean and well furnished. There were only two of us staying, but there was plenty of space for large groups as well. A few toiletries and even laundry detergent were provided as well. Made our trip much easier.

  • Nice Huge house, really charming and unique

    joshua2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful house. It was full of light and also quiet in the evening. There were dimmer switches on all of the lights. This was the ambience I was looking for. Thank you Greg so much.

    Carole2017-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Airbnb and I was quite hesitant and nervous at first. Greg and his home did not disappoint though! My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to meet and stay a few nights. No other places in larger cities were available so we chose to stay in Gregs house in Winchester. The first thing I noticed when stepping in the door was the smell of cleanliness. Not only did it smell clean but the place was spotless too. He even left soap and shampoo for us which was a great help because we both forgot to bring it. We were able to heat a meal or two up with the kitchen supplies he provided. The house is very large and could comfortably accommodate a large group of people if need be. Even though it was large it still felt cozy for the two of us. A small downside was the fact that there was no wifi or cable. When we did need it we were able to get service from Verizon so this was not a problem. All in all it was a great stay and if your looking for a nice place to sleep or just a place to meet and get away for a bit this place won't disappoint.

    Colin2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • This house is centrally located in a small town. The place is clean and comfortable. We were even provided travel shampoo, conditioner, and laundry soap. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Each Chalet is Fully Furnished and comes with a full Kitchen. This joins the breathtaking views of Southern Ohio and Other amenities outside the chalets which include, fishing, hiking, swimming in our Lake, Zip-Lining and more!
  • This was a very nice and quiet area, at least at the end of May when we stayed there. The kitchen is fully equipped and since there are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity, make sure you bring something to prepare or grill. Overall, it an be a nice experience, if you remember to bring all the essentials with you.

    Evgenia2016-05-31T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at 7 pm on a warm summer night -- the entire estate was locked up and we were in the middle of nowhere. What to do? We called the number on the form and got an answering machine--we were calling "after hours." WTF? So we parked the car and then I walked about 200 yards to "the office." No one was there. Now what? Would we have to drive for hours looking for a hotel room? So we decided to walk around a locked gate to the "chalet." Just then, by chance, a man drove in and opened a gate to go up to the chalet. We asked for another phone number. He gave it to us and said, "But you won't need it." We then drove a few hundred yards up the hill to the chalet and it was completely locked up! So we called the number that we were never going to need. The manager then sent someone back with the key. When the key came, I told the man who delivered it that I thought that we deserved one of our two nights for free as compensation for our ordeal. (That didn't happen.) The chalets are 1960s architecture and maintenance is hard to keep up with--some of the window screens are ripped, that sort of thing. Bring a mattress pad if you are fussy. The mattresses are a combination of box-spring and mattress. Everything is clean in the house, but expect a few critters - spiders etc. If you have a group of boy scouts, the place is ideal. Like the other reviewer said, bring your own food. Beer can be purchased about six miles away in Peebles.

    Tom2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great place with a wood burning stove. We had a car repair that was needed and they helped us get back on the road. Very quiet and secluded with plenty of room for site seeing.

    Nathan2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place was really cool! We had 11 people sleep comfortably, even with one twin bed missing. The location was great, there were tons of hikes right within the area of the cabin and it was very a close drive to the mineral springs and Serpent Mound. The kitchen was a good size with lots of seating. There's a little lake on the property but we just used the canoe rather than swimming in it. Basketball court was fun. The cabin definitely was "rustic", but I liked that about it.

    Alicia2017-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for accommodating myself and dogs on such short notice. the dogs and I thoroughly enjoyed walking around the property.

    Laura2017-02-01T00:00:00Z
  • The home was very clean , quite. loved it. We had 15 in our family and we all had enough room . With an addition of a blow up mattress. We all could relax, and watched a few deer in the woods just walk by. That was great! If you want a clean, comfortable weekend. Go to this cabin. It is rustic, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Their is not WIFI or cable, but that could be added by Host later on. Check it out!

    Larry2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • This chalet is most definitely "rustic". Everything except the bathrooms was outdated, and there was no wifi. Outdated as it was, it was still a lovely place to stay. The living room was comfortable, the kitchen well stocked with utensils and dishes, the bathrooms clean. The beds could have been a little bit more comfortable. There were plenty of board games to play and extra seating in the closet. We arrived late for checkin, and the door was left unlocked for us. Overall, I would recommend this place to those who don't care about modern living and just want a quiet getaway.

    Josie2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • A spacious rustic bunkhouse set in a wooded area. Pretty much as advertised. Must bring own bedding but other than that everything you'd need is there.

We had local friends over to the house for breakfast and cooked pancakes, the mix for which was provided by our hosts. We ate on the gorgeous deck outdoors. We also added on the Amish experience and had a wonderful evening with a local Amish family. They were delightful people and we all had a lot of fun. What a wonderful stay!

  • I wanted to book a cozy Girls Getaway for my mom's 60th birthday, so searched for a house that was big enough to sleep 5 ladies comfortably with plenty of room for us to watch movies and play games. After I booked, Darren contacted me immediately to see if I had any questions. He kindly offered to stock the kitchen with our list of goodies, and was easily reachable via text. When we arrived, we were so excited to see how BEAUTIFUL the house and decor were! We sounded like a gaggle of geese "ooh"ing and "aah"ing as we migrated from room to room, wide eyed with delight. Jill spent a lot of time decorating, giving the home a fresh new look with no corners ignored! And the best part was, it was comfortable. There isn't much to do around Flemimgsburg, but that didn't bother us; we didn't want to leave the house! Thank you so much to Darren and Jill for thinking of EVERYTHING. We made some great memories! - Jennifer Francis

    Jennifer 2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We are so glad we decided to stay at the Blue House. First of all the house is stunning - so well decorated and really nice to stay in. We were really impressed when we arrived and we had everything we needed and more. It felt like staying at a luxery hotel and having it all to yourself. But the best thing about our stay was when Darren and Jill took us to meet their good Amish friends Ruben and Ann at their farm. Ann and her sweet daughter Anne-Mary had cooked us a all lovely dinner and Ruben took us out on a fantastic buggy ride. They were so friendly and funny. Ruben works with horses so he showed us the stables and our daughter got to sit on a pony for the first time in her life. They were curious about Denmark as we were of their way of life, and we could have stayed and talked for many hours more. If you have the chance to stay at this house and to meet Ruben and Ann DO IT. It was a day we'll never forget. Thanks!

  • A lovely, cozy place in a lovely, beautiful setting, with a lovely, attentive hostess! Marylou was extremely communicative and accommodating. I also met her most courteous and gracious grandson who even carried my bags into the house. The drive from the highway was particularly lovely. Very relaxing, quite accommodations with everything and more than I needed. I hope to stay here again when visiting the area. It was perfect for my kayaking trip to the Grayson Lake area.

    Lisa G.2016-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Marylou was extremely cordial and helpful. She pointed out places we could visit in the area, gave us a brief history of her farm, and provided us with an abundance of snacks and food. The location was peaceful and lovely. It was the perfect place to stop on our trip from Pittsburgh to southwestern Kentucky.

    Mike2016-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • Marylou is very friendly and hospitable. It's a little hard to find but she stood outside to flag us down. It's a small but cozy place. We will definitely come back!

    Kasey2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Marylou was very accomodating and easy to communicate with. She had the unfortunate circumstance of heavy rain rendering the usual room unavailable so we stayed in alternative lodgings. It is therefore impossible to give a review on the regular room. Thanks, for your trouble, Marylou- great to meet you!

    Pete2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The place was definitely cozy and warm. Marylou was quite responsive over the phone when her place was slightly hard to find and had her son sent over to get is a couple miles away from her abode. There were good snacks. The separate guest accommodation was clean however there were a few shortcomings I would like to note for which I wouldn't exactly call it value for Money. There was no internet from what was suggested through the filter. The bed had a nice spring mattress (apart from minor squeaking noises). The place was overall clean but there was no garbage can to be found anywhere. Overall It's a good choice to stop by if your passing through Olive Hill Lentucky

  • This is a cozy little place in the scenic hills of Kentucky. As we were there for some family business it was a good place to come back to and relax in the peace and quietude of the country. • Nice place to retreat from the city. Fun fishing, bonfires, and cornhole. Roboats kayaks and fishing off the dock awesome. Felt at home. My att phone had poor signal. There is a general store about 10 minutes away, no banjos on the porch but it serves its purpose. Will be a great retreat for youth group or a 4H club

  • My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful three nights at Tim's cabin, and it was even nicer than I'd imagined. The cabin overlooks the lake, which is at the bottom of a large hill. Tim provided several boats for our use. Everything was neat and clean, and the kitchen had everything I needed to make several great meals. We enjoyed kayaking and relaxing on the porch. Next time, I'll be sure to bring binoculars and some blow-up rafts for floating on the lake. Serpent Mound is just minutes away - (URL HIDDEN) We also found some very nice Amish stores with wonderful baked goods. Tim was easy to work with and checked in occasionally to make sure everything was ok. We definitely hope to come back - I'd love to see the fall colors.

  • My husband and I had a very nice relaxing time at the cabin. Everything you need is there and very clean and comfortable. Fishing was great! The owner Tim was very easy to work with and easy to get a hold of with any questions. This is the place to get away for relaxation.

    Donna2017-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a very pleasant stay in Tim's Cabin. Very clean and will equipped. If you seek a rural place to relax and forget stress. This is a good choice. You will be very close to the Amish. Very frindly people and puzzling culture.

    Ibrahim2015-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Tim was very helpful and patient with several questions we had. Since we were driving about 4 hours to his place we wanted to be sure we had everything we needed with us and the cabin had everything we needed. That being said, The cabin has no double beds, they are all twin beds, but we made it work for us. The cabin was beautiful, clean and cozy. The surrounding area was beautiful as well and the lake was interesting with many trees in the middle. It made it fun to navigate through with kayaks. We hoped the trees would have had more color but I think we missed peak by a week. It was still nice to walk the trails through the woods as we did find bursts of color here and there. I really enjoyed the QUIET and it was a great getaway from the noise of life. Thanks

    Ralph2015-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was perfect. Tim was very helpful. The view was out of this world! I would recommend this cabin to anyone who needs a get away, it was just what we needed to escape for a weekend!

  • The place was great! Perfect place to get away and to not have to go anywhere for activities. It had its own lake to fish at (kids loved it), two kayaks, a canoe and a row boat. We used the grill and fire pit to cook our meals and to make smores. Tim even provided the wood. The house had everything we needed too; shower, plenty of sleeping space, AC, and games to pass the time and wind down. Perfect place to get away for a couple days and enjoy time with your family!

A rural retreat located a short distance from the Appalachian Highway in Southern Ohio, this log home is loaded with modern amenities to ensure a comfortable stay. Get away from it all in a quiet farm setting. The house is just a short drive to Amish country, Serpent Mound and other family-friendly activities. Take a walk on the property or relax on one of the porches and you might see deer, turkey and other wildlife. Good for couples, solo adventurers and families (with kids and/or pets).
The log home, built in 2003, is a single-story structure with an all-wood interior. It's located in a very quiet area -- a great place to get away from the city (or the suburbs). There is no cable TV or internet. (Verizon, T-Mobile and probably other cellular services work here, though, and there's a TV with a Roku if you want to use your phone as a hotspot and stream video.) The house is wheelchair-friendly (ask if you have particular needs).
Pike County is quite rural. You'll be "in the middle of nowhere" -- a 10- or 20-minute drive to the small towns of Piketon, Waverly and Peebles. About 30 minutes to Portsmouth, Chillicothe, Wheat Ridge (Amish country) or the Red Barn (great venue for country music).
