  • We were looking for a unique and unforgettable experience and this treehouse fulfilled that and more! This cozy treehouse provided such a fun atmosphere and the views in and around the area are just incredible. No need for an alarm clock as the howler monkeys will wake you almost every morning! And if you're lucky, many squirrel and white face monkeys will stop by and say hello (probably the coolest part of the entire trip). This was our honeymoon and we were looking to do more than just sit at the beach so it was great to have a host that was so knowledgeable and helpful. Thomas was gracious enough to not only provide rides to and from the airport but also set up all of our amazing adventures (I highly, highly recommend the Sunset Sail cruise and White Water Rafting). This was also our first experience in Costa Rica and I must say we plan to come back within 5 years. I hope the treehouse will be available when we do return :)

  • We had s great trip to Quepos and the treehouse was just as described. Thomas couldn't have been nicer. The pool was a nice retreat during the summer heat. Our last night we finally had visitors which included the howler monkeys and s raccoon. If you are up for a memorable adventure you should put the treehouse on your list.

  • Thomas was a gracious and helpful host (thanks for the pick up in Quepos). The treehouse was a breezy nature retreat, and we saw more animals there than at Manuel Antonio National Park and with much closer views. A 3-toed sloth "hung out" with us for 4 days, and 3 species of monkeys visited us during our stay, besides all the birds, butterflies, geckos, lizards, and snakes we observed. We appreciated the availability of a washing machine (semi automatic), and the kitchen was well furnished. The walk into Quepos is a bit steep, especially at the very beginning, so don't wear flip flops to walk to town! The bus was easy, convenient, and all the taxi drivers knew exactly where to take us in the "Zona Americana." Take advantage of the Fri.-Sat. farmer's market on the promenade in Quepos.

  • Staying at Thomas and Lili's tree house pushed an already great Costa Rican experience into a whole new level of enjoyment. The closeness of the trees and wildlife along with the beauty of the house itself lent a serenity to the experience. It made reading a book, eating a meal, or enjoying the company of a loved one just that much more special. This is the best of both worlds, with nature at your doorstep and the lovely town of Quepos just a short walk away (taxis are also easily available). There are a wide variety of activities that you can enjoy in the area including horseback riding, zip lining, hiking, boat tours, beaches, restaurants, snorkeling, four-wheeling, dancing, and shopping. We tried and loved snorkeling, horseback riding to a waterfall at the base of which you can swim, touring the Manuel Antonio national park with a guide and zip lining. Fun fact, all these activities are a short drive away and the Manuel Antonio park is easily accessible by bus or taxi. After a long day of activity, the recently built pool is the perfect place to relax your muscles. We spent a great evening conversing and eating on the deck beside the pool with a wonderful couple who were staying at the villa next to Thomas' home. We truly enjoyed our experience in this place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thomas was incredibly helpful in arranging outings, offering advice and information, and ensuring that we received great service. He is a warm and friendly person whose love for Costa Rica and its people is genuine and infectious. His wife, Lili, is also friendly and helpful. They are both readily available for help, conversation, or a friendly laugh. You will surely meet shop keepers and tourists who can give you tips on where to eat (Thomas does as well and his suggestions are great) and shop. We also had the chance to go out with fellow tourists and the guides were very friendly. Do not be afraid to use public transportation, it's reliable and safe. Reserve your stay at the tree house if you want to be close to everything yet feel like you're on a secluded island. I loved everything but I must say that hiking to the nearby beach was very rewarding and then straight to the pool upon our return. Should you need a bank, use BAC San Jose. Our Canadian bank cards didn't work at the National Bank. Trust me, you will not regret staying at this property with all the modern amenities such as a microwave and a semi-automatic washing machine, plus electric gas burners, a fridge, coffee maker and blender. These conveniences were a nice surprise. Lastly, the animals will come to you, that is a fact, it was so cool. Laurianne & John

  • Had a great time at the tree house! The place is more beautiful than the pictures, the pool is very chill! We even got visited by Some white face monkeys!

  • If you're looking for a great adventure - this is it !! We had a great time staying almost 2 weeks in the treehouse ! Thomas has made this wonderful getaway tucked in the jungle but with conveniences to make it feel like home. You won't experience wildlife anywhere else like you'll experience it here! Monkeys, lizards, birds, bugs - and so much more ! You're right in their habitat! The pool on the property is a life saver! A 10 minute walk into Quepos for great restaurants, groceries, pharmacy or anything else you might need! Also in Quepos, you can hop on the bus to Manuel Antonio for a day at the beach ! We took the public bus from San Jose to Quepos and highly recommend it ! Thomas and his team are excellent and willing to help with anything you need. The recommended excursions are top notch. There is a reason this property books so far in advance - it's amazing & so is the host !

  • This was truely a once in a lifetime getaway. I went by myself for 4 nights and spent 3 in the treehouse and the final night at villa malinche. The property is absolutely breathtaking! I didn't see too much wildlife at the property in terms of monkeys, until my last day in the treehouse where I spotted one climbing a tree just outside the screen window. For someone who has never seen a monkey, it was pretty exciting! The treehouse is equipt with everything you could need for cooking (even had ground coffee!), is crazy relaxing, and has an excellent jungle view. I loved being surrounded by pure nature for a few days. The villa is equally as amazing, and perhaps even better! It's like a luxury hotel with enough dishwear to entertain a big group of guests. I really hope to go back with friends and share the experience. But if you're planning on going solo, this is definitely an excellent place to kick back, enjoy the costas rica jungle sounds, and read a book! You'll even have tons of little lizards sharing your space with you, so you won't feel alone :) I didn't get to meet Thomas or Lili as they were on vacation, but their assistant Angie was absolutley perfect. She booked all my excursions and whenever I needed a cab to or from anywhere I just had to ask her and one appeared. Great hosts for sure!

  • The Tree House was one of my best experiences during my stay in Costa Rica. Thomas and Lili were very accomadating with booking tours, information about the local area, and communicating and arranging my pick up when arriving in the area. I loved the tree house and felt very close to nature. The monkeys came twice during my stay and "performed" when they arrived. I enjoyed the peacefulness and sounds of nature and felt as though I had every need met. I enjoyed the Rainmaker tour with Henry and the excellant massage with Lili Thomas and Lili were very helpful with calling for a taxi when I needed it. Thank you for a wonderful stay. I will return some day! I would highly recommend the tree house for your stay in Manuel/Quoepos!

  • Iñigo was a great host! He offered us many suggestions on things to do and also helped us arrange a guide for Manuel Antonio. The house has a great location and Iñigo also let us park our car in his gated parking area. Thank you for a great couple of days!

Stay for 7 nights or more and get a 15% discount, equal to a free night. As many of our guests say, if you spend a lot of time on our balcony you'll see more wildlife here than you will at the national parks. Our property borders the biological corridor Paso de la Danta so we're regularly visited by lots of wildlife, like monkeys, sloths, toucans, deer, pigs, dantas, aracaris, anteaters, coatis, hummingbirds, etc etc. **Newly updated high-speed internet to the best available in this area.**
This listing is for a 2300 square foot villa which is the entire upstairs of the house. There are 4 bedrooms which all have memory foam beds. 3 bedrooms with queen beds, and 1 has a full and twin bunk. It technically sleeps 9 but I suppose more is possible if its small kids or your willing to use our air mattress or one of the couches. The villa is everything that you see in the photos including swimming pool, covered patio with comfortable seating and dining table, gas and charcoal bbq grill, kitchen and dining area, living room, 1.5 bathrooms, and a massive balcony with lots of seating to enjoy the incredible view. There are fans in every room, including eight different 60 inch industrial ceiling fans and several pedestal fans. The main bathroom has a giant concrete bathtub and shower that has a jungle view and sometimes you can see toucans, sloths, or monkeys while bathing. The kitchen/dining area is fully furnished with everything you need, from the blender to the utensils. The large balcony is a great place to relax or do yoga (yoga matts included) and has lots of seating, 2 large double hammocks and even a TV. The living room has a 40" tv with Amazon fire tv (Netflix and Prime Video included), blueray player and the ever important wifi. The house has a very fresh and open feel with 14 foot cathedral ceilings covered in bamboo and large windows everywhere with lots of new screens to keep the bugs out and let in the breeze off of the pacific ocean. We're located at a perfect 1000 feet elevation where there are virtually no mosquitos even though we're in pure jungle. The biggest bonus to the elevation is that we get visited by much more wildlife, 2nd is that the temperatures are a few degrees cooler than at sea level and we don't need heat or airconditioning. But for those warmer days there are 10 fans throughout the house, both cieling fans and pedestal fans.
Located in Lagunas de Baru, a private community up in the jungle covered mountains near Dominical with incredible views. Only 5.2 miles (8 km) from the layed back beach town of Dominical but at over 1000 ft elevation so the temperatures are more comfortable and fresh feeling than the beach. Because we are not near the traffic of paved highways and in the middle of the jungle many visitors see more wildlife at our house than they do at the national parks. Dominical beach, which has good surfing all year round, offers every kind of tour you can imagine. Whale watching, horseback riding to waterfalls, ziplining, whitewater rafting, kayaking, etc etc. Drive 10 minutes north of Dominical and you're at the gorgeous beach Playa Linda, or 10 minutes south for beautiful Playa Hermosa. There are also countless waterfalls nearby that I will gladly give you directions to. 17 miles (27 km) from Marino Ballena national park, "the whale's tail beach", which is a great place for free snorkeling or you can pay for whale and dolphin watching tours. 34 miles (54 km) from world famous Manuel Antonio national park which is packed full of multiple species of monkeys and sloths and home to one of Costa Rica's top 5 beaches. 33 miles (53 km) from Chirripó national park which encompasses 125,000 acres and home to the tallest mountains in Central America including the 12530 feet tall Cerro Chirripó.
  • Staying at the House of Jupiter in Dominical was a great experience. As a group of four adults and four children (ages 6, 8, 10, 12) we had ample space to relax separately or together. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen area with the large bar/serving area worked very well for our group of eight. The home was clean, well kept and I felt very comfortable staying there upon arrival. The view was amazing, and the pool and hammocks were in constant use. We had "shows" from the monkeys while we were floating in the pool, as they scurried atop the trees and gathered palm nuts, in addition to watching toucans fly from treetop to treetop. The geckos, frogs and sloths that reside on the property thrilled both the children and adults alike. The wildlife was never intrusive or came too close to comfort. It was almost like were were in our own private paradise. Jeff was a good host and was gracious in providing directions and suggestions on where to find local beaches and shop for groceries, etc. He was great with communication before our visit and was there to greet us upon our arrival in the late evening to show us around the home. He stayed at the property when we were there, and completely respected our privacy. We only saw him when necessary, in a positive way. A 4x4 (or front-wheel drive at the very least) is highly recommended, as you must ascend a somewhat steep mountain road to access the home. This is common in CR, even among the estate communities in which the HOJ is located. The towns of Baru, Dominical and the surrounding areas we explored up and down Rte34 are clean, safe, and the people are friendly. There are many options for dining and activities without feeling like a tourist, but you could still enjoy the novelty of souvenir shopping if you choose. We purposefully chose Dominical to avoid large-scale tourism and we were not disappointed. I can highly recommend the HOJ and the area of Dominical for a visit or long stay, it did not disappoint.

  • We had a wonderful week at the House of Jupiter, me, my wife and our 2 young boys. The House is vast, comfortable and accurately described in the posting. Wendy & Jeff were great guests. Jeff gave us ton of advices of things to do and where to go during the whole week. While they live in the bottom unit of the house they were very discreet and we felt we had the house for us alone the whole week. What is special with house of Jupiter is Costa Rica nature at is best. The house is quite isolated in the mountain and we saw more wild life from the balcony than at Manuel Antonio National Park. We saw multiples toucans, a coati, a sloth, 2 deer, frogs at night and an impressive quantity of other birds and tons of butterflies. This is an awesome place and you can book your vacations at House of Jupiter without hesitations.

  • We had the most amazing honeymoon here. It was dream come true!

    Kelly2018-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Wendy were so kind. The home was massive and clean and peaceful:) Definitely rent a car. The place is a good 15 minute from town.. Up a massssivve hill - not walkable. When we booked the place we were under the impression it was 5 minutes from the beach - so just take the distance into consideration:) But everything else was amazing. So beautiful.

    Rebecca2015-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • Great responsiveness and help, Jeff was willing to answer questions quickly and address issues. The space was as expected inside, but outside was wonderful and where we spent our time. Locale had things to do every day, and Jeff helped find and coordinate many of these. Wonderful people in Costa Rica, and this is a good place to explore from, Pura Vida!

    Rich2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff's place in Dominical was the highlight of our 7 days in Costa Rica. The whole thing is almost magical: toucans in the trees in the early morning, stunning views of the hills as you wake up, and a deck with two hammocks to lie down and take it all in. Meanwhile, Jeff and Wendy were fantastic hosts. Jeff reached out with great recommendations for beautiful places to visit and great places to eat. He even lent us his GPS device with a bunch of great destinations pre-programmed in. Even though he and his girlfriend Wendy live in the unit below the one we stayed in, their presence didn't interfere with our sense of remoteness at all. And the place itself, aside from its spectacular setting, was great. Lots of beds, though we only needed one, a great kitchen, and a huge bathtub for long soaks after hiking. Maybe really is the best value in Costa Rica!

    Dan2015-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing house in the rainforest. In the first few hours of our arrival, we saw a sloth in their garden, toucans in their trees, an agouti roaming their yard, and even a coati in the canopy. My boyfriend and I couldn't have asked for a more fulfilling 4 days in Dominical. We are huge nature and animal lovers and the surrounding area is filled with nature hikes, water falls, and wildlife all around. The house of Jupiter is up a windy dirt road, so we definitely benefited by having a 4x4. It also is a good idea to stop at the local grocery and get food so you can spend more time out on the gorgeous deck watching the sunset and less time driving to find food every meal. Jeff and his wife were great hosts. Jeff was a quick communicator and was a great source for letting us know things to do in the area which immensely enhanced our experience. He also let us borrow his binoculars so that we could watch for wildlife in the yard. They even had 2 sloths in their garden just a few trees apart one evening. Truly magical. Highly recommended and I can't wait to return. Pura Vida!

    Kristen2015-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • We traveled to the house of Jupiter from rio Celeste. We got in late and Jeff was quick to meet us and take us to his beautiful house. He suggested several activities and made sure we had everything we needed! We had the opportunity to meet the resident sloth and even woke up to monkeys two mornings in a row. There are toucans that fly into the trees every morning and the small quaint town of dominical is right down the road. By far the best place we have stayed off airbnb! We will be coming back.

    >>> THE ESTATE Built on over 2.5 acres, the large private estate is situated in a quiet pristine setting. It consists of the longhouse, where the owners live, an infinity-pool with Indonesian style gazebo to relax under while overlooking the jungle and ocean, and the orange house for rental. The buildings are surrounded by a huge tropical garden with lots of native trees, giant bamboo and local fruit trees (harvest your own lemons, starfruits, pineapples...) set close to the rainforest and the Morete River. >>> LOCATION Uvita, with its infrastructure that includes banks, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as the beaches and Marino Ballena National Park are only a short distance away by car. To Dominical it is a 9 miles / 10 min drive by car. One of the most popular national parks of Costa Rica, the Manuel Antonio National Park near Quepos is just 37 miles / 1 hour by car away. The property is located with easy access to the main road. >>> ORANGE HOUSE - THE RENTAL HOUSE The orange house was designed (by owner who is an architect) to provide privacy for those who want to simplify and eliminate both the physical and psychological clutter in their lives and come back to the spirit of nature. The open inside is divided by built in furniture in king size bedroom, closet, kitchen and daybed areas. Big sliding doors lead to the porch were you can relax in a hammock, watching tucans, hummingbirds and a lot of butterflys. A lush outdoor garden bathroom invites the guests to experience a shower under the stars and emphasizes the open living character of the house. The floors are made of stained polished concrete. Straight clear lines, minimalism of furniture and decoration invites the resident to enjoy the spirit of the tropical outside, surrounded by a simple inside design. A sophisticated ventilation system of wood shutters and roof ventilation use the natural air flow to dispense with need for air-conditioning. >>> POOL The pool area is located beside the longhouse and consists of a 3 x 11 m large infinity pool with waterfall shower from a bamboo pole and an Indonesian style gazebo to relax under. The pool will be exclusively for you to use during your stay. From the pool area you will experience a breathtaking view of the surrounding jungle of the "fila costeña", the coastal mountain range that rises to over 3000 feet above the southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica. >>> THE UNIQUE BENEFITS OF THIS HOUSE Living in the Orange House in a quiet pristine setting, close to flora and fauna and at the same time strategically located less than 1 mile away from the center of Uvita, the Marino Ballena National Park, restaurants, beaches and tourist attractions. >>> FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS 1) How far is it to the international airport in San José? We recommend to rent a car. It is a 124 miles/ 3-4 hours drive from the international airport in San José to Uvita. We also recommend to do the drive during daytime. The best route is starting from the airport taking the new highway 27 direction Caldera and then highway 34 via Jaco, Quepos, Dominical to Uvita. Alternatively you also can take a domestic flight to Quepos with Sansa or Nature Air and take a rental car from there. From Quepos it is only a 45min drive to Uvita. 2) What kind of rental car do you recommend? We highly recommend a rental car to explore the area! We also recommend a 4x4, it would not be absolutely necessary but more comfortable. A small one would be sufficient. 3) How close is the Orange House from the beach? The nearest beach is Playa Hermosa, 1,5 miles away from the Orange House. The famouse whalestail beach is approx. 3 miles away. All together we are close to 7 different beaches here in the Uvita area. You will need a car to go there.
The area offers plenty of activities like surfing, yoga, pilates, stand up paddling, kayaking, hiking, whale watching, waterfall repelling, ziplining and an animal sanctuary. Uvita has a good choice of restaurants, as well as Ojochal, were you can enjoy excellent food at Citrus or Exotica.
  • Kerstin & Udo were incredible hosts! The were very detailed with the driving directions, making it very easy to get to their place (I do recommend a 4X4 vehicle for this area!) and were always quick to respond to any questions. Their place was absolutely beautiful. I saw the photos and great reviews about the outdoor bathroom, but it still exceeded my expectations. They thought of every little detail in this home and made it perfect. If we get a chance to come back to Costa Rica, this place will certainly get another visit.

    Victoria2017-01-03T00:00:00Z

  • Unreal experience! Best Airbnb I've ever stayed at. The place was immaculate, larger than it looked in the pictures and surpassed our every expectation. Udo was amazing (Kerstin was away) for our two week stay, he was the perfect amount of hospitable, not too nosy or involved but always available if we needed him. The house was amazing as was the pool area, it made it hard to choose between heading out on an adventure or relaxing at home. I can't say enough great things about this place, you won't regret staying here! An extra bonus was being right in the jungle, it made for a never ending parade of wildlife, the big highlight was seeing a hoard of white faced capuchin monkeys come through the property and sleep in the bamboo trees right beside the house!

    Stephanie2017-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Danke Kerstin & Udo!! We had a wonderful time at the Orange House. The design of the bungalow and grounds is beautiful. It's a perfect balance of modern amenities combined with tropical simplicity. Toucans, geckos abound and waking each morning to the chorus of Howler Monkeys was a fun experience. It's hard to pick, but one of the favorite features is the outdoor shower. You have created a very special place. Everything was welcoming, accommodating and comfortable. Thank you for the fruit, homemade jam and the wonderful hospitality. (We also need the recipe for that awesome cake you made!) You helped make our inaugural trip to Costa Rica a great experience. We hope to see you again and please give some pets to Taifun for us! Tschüss, Mara & Chuck

  • Stunning house in a peaceful location. Incredibly helpful hosts!

  • Kubla Khan is by far the best Airbnb I ever rented. its truly the "Pura Vida" experience and the gates to paradise ! Everything was PERFECT. Angus was amazing and always there to help out. The house has the entire front wall made of folding doors. Beautifully designed and extremely comfortable. The kitchen was open and well stocked. All in all, I could not have wanted more, except more time to spend there. Loved the whole experience and my best memories of my CR vacation. Thanks Angus!

  • It was a wonderful and beautiful experience for my girlfriend and I at Kubla Khan. The house is more than we expected. With the open layout of the house atop the Costa Rican forest you feel as if you're in a cozy tree house. The two deck balconies overlook a river and the current from the river produced a soothing white noise that provided us with some of the best sleep and relaxation we had on our trip. The outside area and garden was a delight. It gave us lots to explore and places to just chill out, have a picnic, drink some wine and relax. We didn't get a chance to meet Anus but it felt like he was there to accommodate and make sure things were going smooth throughout our stay. From arranging that we be greeted with a masseuse and Thai massages at check in to helping us with directions back to San Jose on, Angus did a great job in making sure we got what we needed.

The casita del Sol is a small chalet situated in a 5 hectare property; La Cima del Mundo, at 1 300 m of height, at the heart of more than 200 hectares of private reserves. The chalet consists of 2 double rooms, a bathroom, a completely equipped kitchen, a lounge with fireplace, a covered terrace, a private garden, a parking area. We knew how to make of this casita a warm place, just like the welcome that we take pleasure to offer to our hosts. A lot of activities are possible in the valley, such as gone hiking, trek at more than 3800 m, hikes, waterfalls, swimming pools of hot waters, fishing, ride, paragliding, bathing in river, visits of farm producers of delicious cheeses, coffee, etc. All these activities are between 5 and 8 km of our place. Our property offers a beautiful wide and relatively flat path about 4 km in the forest. You will be in perfect communion with the nature, and will meet peace and serenity in this garden of Eden. You could appreciate a fantastic view over all the mountains, and amazing sunsets. Internet with fast speed. San Isidro del General, bigger city of the South of Costa Rica is only at 17 km, with all the necessities. Do not hesitate to get in touch with us for every kind of information concerning our place quite as the country, it makes10 years that we are living in this amazing small country, thus it is with a great pleasure that we shall bring you answers and helps to the elaboration of your journey.

  • La Cima del Mundo is truly a spectacular place and Swin and Jedy are the best hosts I have experienced in traveling and using AirBnB. If you are looking for a place to stay in the mountains where you can hike Chirripo or some of the other trails, I cannot imagine a better place. When we were there, they had horses to ride and all kinds of suggestions about local places. There is a local chocolate shop and a someone who makes cheese; both sell out of their homes to locals and people visiting Chirripo. There is also a small restaurant that has one of the best hamburgers I have eaten and also makes their own craft beers. Truly a memorable experience. I highly recommend a 4x4 for the entire area.

  • My two friends and I stayed with Swin and her husband for a few days on a tour around Costa Rica and we had an amazing time. Swin and her husband were very welcoming and friendly, even helping to tow our rental car up the hill when we got stuck! They have a very friendly and energetic young son as well as two great dogs. Their house is pretty far from most things, so be sure to get some groceries before arriving because the nearest places to eat are about 20 minutes away by car. Also, a 4-wheel drive car is helpful for reaching their house, though we made due with our tiny Hyundai i10, though we did get stuck the first time. The property is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. The scenery was breathtaking. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Swin's place is simple and beautiful - making the name "Back to Basics" perfect! Having stayed in the Chirripo Valley area before, I knew more or less what to expect in terms of roads, traffic, weather, bugs, etc. If you haven't stayed in that area before, be aware that pretty much all roads up there are rough (the kind of roads that are doable but cringeworthy without 4x4, but VERY EASY with 4x4.. so pretty common Costa Rican stuff!). The area does tend to be a bit wetter and cooler than most places you're probably visiting in CR, but I'd describe it as warmer and dryer than San Gerardo de Rivas (in case you've ever been up there, it's farther along the main road quite a ways). Swin's place is very, very clean, very comfy. Great for kids/families, lots of hiking and daytime activities to enjoy! We only had a quick stay but got to make it into San Isidro to the Feria on Thursday (you *must* go if you're in town on Thurs or Fri!). Despite my being a little sick after the flight, it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The hot water is great and the shower is really neat! Everything in the home is artistic, yet comfortable, and very well taken care of. Swin is perhaps the easiest host ever with communication, very attentive and quick to help. She and her husband are French, but their English is superb. Her children are very sweet, and the gardener is kind and friendly. We woke up to beautiful white horses in our own backyard the first morning, and saw a number of birds and beautiful scenery. I can't recommend Swin and her several Airbnb's highly enough. Great stay! Thanks Swin! :) Oh! And we made great friends with Moon, their adorable little kitty!! We miss her already!

  • Best accommodation in Costa Rica! We spent only three nights in this beautiful and very convenient house, the picture doesn't make it justice. The road up is an adventure itself, only to be mastered with a four wheel drive. The journey is very much worth the effort. The surroundings are magnificent and the view from the porch stunning. The hosts did everything to make us feel at home and helped out on the spot when needed. If you're looking for a place to just relax, take a few hikes and wind down this is it. Next time we'll book for a week...

  • This was our first airbnb experience and we could not have imagined a nicer one! The property is more beautiful than the pictures. The location is serene and yet alive with nature! This is Costa Rica at its finest. We slept very well and enjoyed the solitude and privacy - when we weren't exploring the neighboring shops and town. Did I mention it was the rainy season? It made absolutely no difference - the weather was still remarkably comfortable. Swin was the perfect host, generously answering all of my many questions about life and living in that beautiful, remote location. The home had everything as described, all in excellent working order. Thank you Swin. We felt very welcomed and hope to return someday soon!

  • This little cabin was simply amazing. It is far up in the hills (4x4 required) and has complete privacy and a cool refreshing breeze. The cabin is hand made and has so many amazing little touches that make it unique and very welcoming. The fireplace is wonderful, the front porch and view is beautiful and the open and airy design makes it so relaxing. Swin was very helpful and a very friendly host. This is a must stop if living in or visiting Costa Rica as most people don't ever get to live in the clouds. We will be definitely returning.

  • The place was exactly as described and pictured and Thierry is very nice and helpful! He also had some snacks waiting for us and wants to make sure everything is just right. Amazing jungle views, we saw cute monkeys very close in the trees when we arrived!

    Kristen2012-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • It was an absolute wonderful stay. The place is spacious, the view is spectacular. Thierry is a great host and provided me with so much information about Quepos and helped me so much since I don't speak Spanish. He was so welcoming and brought me fruits and OJ when I arrived. I would definitely come back again and I recommend it to everyone who wants to experience nature.

    Elena2014-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Thierry is a great host! He met me at the Quepos airport which is about 10 minutes from his home. He has a wonderful apartment facing the jungle with a private entrance. I saw a sloth and toucan from the back deck. I loved sitting out there reading and drinking coffee. ( He provided a coffee maker and coffee.) There is also a nice trail that is nearby that is a wonderful experience in the jungle if you have never been there. I saw several monkeys there. Thierry also took me to the Quepos airport when it was time to leave and even made a second trip when he found something I left behind. The cab ride into Quepos is about $1-$2 or about $6-7 to Manuel Antonio. There is also a bus that comes by and I think that cost me about 50 cents to Quepos. You can't beat the setting and the host for the cost. There is no air conditioning but there is a ceiling fan and oscillating fan. I slept great with the jungle noises and the rain.

    Craig2011-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Thierry's little studio was AMAZING to stay at while in Costa Rica. The bus to Manuel Antonio was easy, yet it was off the beaten path enough to be great for relaxing. On one of our nights there a troop of monkeys swung past the porch and we spent some time in the hammock every evening watching the bats come out. Thierry is a great host as well, providing coffee, pastries and tour bookings should you want them. He also provided tips for the best snorkeling and less-popular beachfronts. Thanks Thierry for a great stay, I'd recommend this great studio to anyone!

    Katie2012-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This private studio space was perfect for our stay in Quepos. The host gave us a thorough orientation about the nearby attractions when we arrived. The space was clean and tidy when we arrived, and the kitchen was stocked. the best part were the monkeys! We saw monkeys every day from our very private-feeling balcony. We also loved the bathroom which has several artisan touches. Taxis into town were very frequent, and it was easy to learn the layout of Quepos as the main area is very small. This stay is perfect if you want to relax in the rainforest and cook some of your own meals.

    Annie2011-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • We have just spent a week at nature lovers and had a great time! The apartment is beautiful and you really are among the trees. Be aware you can hear the main road though! But really, that's fine. We saw toucans, Acari, White faced monkeys and many black and green dart frogs just from the balcony. Thierry was a great host, even collecting us from the bus station and gave us croissants, juice and sweet treats. Perfect for access to Manuel Antonio. Super.

    Charlotte2011-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • We were very happy with our stay at the nature lover's apartment. It was exactly as described, and Thierry is helpful and definitely an asset to the AirBnB network!. As much as I like variety, I would want to stay here again the next time I visit the area because I thought it was very lovely!

    Alexis2012-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • I had an amazing stay with Thierry! My friend and I stayed at Nature Lovers for our birthday celebration, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Thierry was so helpful from start to finish; giving us directions ahead of time that made our trip to and from Quepos very easy and relatively inexpensive. When we arrived, he met us at the bus station and there was fresh fruit waiting in the kitchen. The home is beautiful and perfect for 2, with amazing views, hammocks to relax in, and animals that come to say hi! He gave us a thorough tour of the place, and also showed us Manuel Antonio on a map and different species of animals we may see on our trip. The home is very close to Manuel Antonio (collectivo to the bus stop or 2 buses all the way to the beach) and one bus or dollar taxi takes you to a nice area with plenty of places to eat. Thierry totally respected our privacy, but also came to help when we were frightened by a monkey at the door. He is an awesome host with a beautiful home, I hope to be back one day! Thanks Thierry!

Will definitely visit again when I go back to Costa Rica. Their place is the definition of Pura Vida!!! And I love their dog Zeus!! Awesome! !

  • Doug and Marta were awesome hosts! They were there to welcome us upon arrival and escorted us to our apartment, and showed us all of the amenities of the property. "La Casita" was perfect and was exactly as described. The view was also not bad to wake up to : ) The pool and outdoor bar area was an awesome finish to a long day at the beach and National Park. Also, Doug and Marta were more than accommodating by hosting a small dinner celebration by the pool for us with the fish we brought back from our day out on the water. Overall, we had a great stay and experience at "La Casita" and would certainly not hesitate to return for another stay with Doug and Marta!!!

    Nathan2016-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Such a great location with an amazing view of the marina! There was parking for our car so it was easy to get around town. Both of the tours that Marta helped book for us picked us up from here too - which was very convenient. Marta was lovely and always around to help with whatever was needed including booking excursions in the area! Perfect little place for a couple, with a kitchen that’s got everything from a toaster to a blender! A refregioratior and freezer to keep food cool as well.

    Katie2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Marta and Douglas’s place was beautiful! It offers gorgeous views from the pool/outdoor bar. The apartments have plenty of space and privacy. If we visit Quepos again we will definitely stay here!

    Rachel2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in La Casita. The view was nice and the casita was spacious. We had everything we needed to make a meal in the kitchen. We had monkeys on our top balcony one morning. We were hoping to see more monkeys! The shower here was hot, which was great! There is a stocked bar at Marta's that we enjoyed the convenience of. We took a tour of Manuel Antonio with the tour guide, Henry. It was very helpful to have a tour guide- otherwise we wouldn't have been able to see as much. We also took the Ocean King Catamaran tour while we were there. It was a little overpriced and we didn't see whales or dolphins. The Casita is a long walk into the town Quepos, and a cab ride to Manuel Antonio. It is close to the Marina which is nice - we ate there one afternoon.

  • Mi experiencia con marta y Douglas fue excelente el lugar es hermoso y son realmente atentos y amables.

    Matias2016-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Hi Marta and Douglas were very welcoming. Marta met me as soon as I came in, discussed the rules for the property and showed me all the available excursions that were recommended. The listing looked exact as described and was lovely. I had a full loft apartment to myself with a large refrigerator, fans, queen size bed and the AC was very well needed. The only thing I would say is on extremely hot days you might need to put both on the AC and the fan.

    Jacquel2015-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Marta and Douglas have a great place with an amazing view. We stayed in La Casita and the house was more than what we expected. Two floors, one and a half bath, full kitchen and nice balconies with exceptional scenery. Marta was also very accommodating and allowed us to check in hours before we previously arranged. It can be difficult to drive up to the house for an inexperienced driver so use caution when driving. Overall I would definitely recommend staying at Marta and Douglas’ place.

La casa é magnífica, un vero open space, in mezzo alla natura con una vista strepitosa. La cucina é super accessoriata, acqua calda e una splendida pianta di arancia per le vostre birre ghiacciate. Non manca niente.

  • Our stay at Jillian's house was amazing! Its conveniently located to Dominical, but also a short drive "off the beaten path", we were surrounded by nature and all the jungle has to offer at the house. We stayed at the house for one week and our time there flew by. Jillian was very helpful and sent clear directions to the house and provided useful suggestions of places to eat, things to see and activities to do while we were there. I would love to stay here again!

    Viola2012-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • What a great House! So private and relaxing. Jillian could not have made out experience in the Dominical area any more convenient and comforting. When we arrived the caretaker was extremely friendly and gave great house information. This house has amazing views and is completely ready for your Costa Rica vacation. The Gardens were amazing all kinds of flowers and fruit trees very well maintained. The recommendation of a 4x4 is spot on, the road is in great shape but if you encounter slippery roads you will be glad you went with a 4x4. Do not hesitate to book this house, I highly recommend both the Owners and the House.

  • This place is a great way to experience Costa Rica! Jillian made us feel welcome and gave us all the information we needed to really enjoy our trip to Dominical. The pictures are true to the feel and situation of the house and it is set back in the mountains with an amazing ocean view. The bugs really are something else - not the place if you are squirmish with bugs since they are huge (cool...but huge!) I would suggest this place to anybody who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, relax and have some adventure while doing it!

    Ann2015-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • experiencia maravillosa, rodeado de naturaleza, con una relajante vista maravillosa del océano. La casa es muy acogedora con todo lo necesario. Jillian servicial y atento. Marvin la persona fantástica arquero. experiencia inolvidable.

  • The house was even better than expected, the photos didn't do it justice. The glimpse of the bay down below, a real treat. The track up is an adventure but the house is a worthy destination just like Dominicalito itself. There are plenty of bugs but also plenty of geckos to eat them (!) and lots of butterflies and other wildlife to keep you distracted. This truly is a jungle paradise with some lovely architectural touches. Make sure you have a 4WD, whilst you might get up in some 2WD vehicles, you'll want the security and ground clearance of something more robust. We also booked a tour through Victoria who was efficient and easy to deal with.

  • Absolutely Beautiful! Wonderfully set up in the hills, Jillian's place is very picturesque. Photos do not do it justice. You have to check this place out! Very clean. The open concept of the home allows for a pleasant breeze all day and night. The kitchen is well stocked for any culinary challenge. ( my friends and I cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner easily there from local produce. The stove is natural gas which is such a treat! and the preparation/bar counter area is large) All you will want to do is make food and drink all day and enjoy the view of the ocean in the distance. The jungle surrounds the house. You will find fruiting trees on the property and coconuts at your leisure. We saw lots of wildlife. Capuchin monkeys, Toucan birds, lots of butterflies, Anteaters, and that funny creature the Agouti ( no mosquitoes for that time of year thank god) The water is clean and none of my friends had any stomach issues while we were there. You will need a 4wd vehical in good condition. The road up to the house is a bit steep and winding up the hill but don't fret! It is worth it and you will come to enjoy the ride up and down. The little town of Dominical is just down the road. I personally love this little town. It's not too busy yet just busy enough. Surfing is really fun there. The locals are really nice too. The sunset on the beach is something special. My wife and friends and I have come to fall in love with this beautiful country called Costa Rica and Jillian's place really helped that experience.

    chris2016-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Jillian couldn't have done more to make our stay at her fantastic home in the jungle run more smoothly. The information provided and her assistance throughout was first class. The immediate area is a jungle with just one dirt track leading up the mountain and to a handful of spaced out properties. Dominicalito is the local beach and we found it a quiet peaceful beach. Dominical, 4 kilometres away has a crafts market on the beach with a great surfing/hippie crowd.

  • I stayed at this Cabana for 5 nights and i didn't want to leave. The cabana has all the amenities you require for self catering and it's impeccably clean. As you can imagine, the cabana does get warm throughout the day but the fans do a great job in keeping you cool. Adriano and Silvia are very accommodating, they organised all my trips and informed me on great places to visit. Adriano even gave me a lift to another area as he was passing that way and also let me have use of his bicycle for getting around, which was a great help. The area of Hatillo is nice and quiet and it's not too far from the beach. I cycled everywhere when i was there, which was ideal for getting to the beautiful Dominical. If cycling isn't your thing though you have the bus stop at the bottom of the driveway but i would recommend hiring a car. I hope to visit again someday. Pura Vida!!!

    Mark2016-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great location a little outside of Dominical! Has a great air conditioner that we were very grateful for. Sweet dogs and very friendly hosts. 100% recommend!

  • Excelente lugar! Adriano fue un excelente anfitrión y el lugar es accesible, tranquilo y muy aseado. Definitivamente vamos a volver!

  • We extended our stay two more days because the place was perfect.

    Steve2016-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • We arrived at the cabana to sweet Silvia, Adrianos wife. She welcomed us warmly, gave us the grand tour, then offered us some great tips about the surrounding area - where to grocery shop, favorite beaches, etc. We stay for four days and loved every minute of it! The amenities were perfect for our stay. Finding a place with hot water, A/C, Wifi, and a kitchenette in a beautiful location at this price felt like winning the jackpot! We had everything we needed to prepare our own meals at the cabana (there's a small super market in dominical - five minutes down the road - along with a health food store called Mama Toucans) but were close enough (within five minutes) to food joints to enjoy other meals out on the town (we loved Mono Congo - a very fun, health conscious cafe right on the river, and Phat noodle - both in Dominical). Every day we had something amazing to do. Our first day we spent in Manuel Antonio, which is only a thirty minute drive north. The following we hiked to the amazing waterfall Nauyaca, 15 minutes away. The third day we explored Uvita beach at low tide so we could go out onto the whales tale - we recommend hanging around for the tide to come back in - amazing! The last day we spent enjoying a quite spot on the beach in Dominicalite which is only a few minutes past Dominical. There are also some thermal springs near by we wanted to visit but ran out of time, I'm sure Silvia would have great information on those. In between all our exploring we enjoyed playing at Dominical or relaxing in the cabana, both inside or out on the front porch. The cabana is discrete, we drove past it the first time - not to Adrianos fault, he sent very detailed instructions (it was the co-pilots fault :). So pay good attention to the details and you'll be in great shape! We rented a car with 4x4 for our stay and would recommend it to anyone to anyone who likes to adventure at a moments notice. Also the four wheel drive was really appreciated for rainy days and ventures that took us on steep mountain roads (aka nauyaca falls). This family is wonderful, very quick to answer any questions or offer any help, yet giving us all the privacy to make it feel like the cabana was truly home away from home. tip: if you're sensitive to sound while you sleep bring some ear plugs. you can't see the road but you're close enough to it to hear the occasional big trucks going down the road :)

    Amanda2018-04-13T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I stayed here for six night in Feb 2016. We absolutely loved our stay. Adriano and Sylvia are very warm and welcoming. They have wonderful information on the local area and are very helpful planning things to do during your stay. The cabana is new and everything you'll need in included, great choice.

    Andrew2016-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The Cabina is very beautiful and clean. Everything is available and you can reach it with the bus. The only negative is the noise of the street, but when you're going to activities or discover the country it doesn't matter. Adriano is such a good and helpful host. He drove us to the supermarket because the one in Hatillo was closed and he also took us to Dominical and Uvita when he had to go there and recommend us some very good restaurants and cafes. We could always phone him and ask for help, even when we were lost in the dark jungle. Thank you so so much :)

    Eva2016-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • Cabaña is the perfect place if you want to enjoy beautiful, green and quiet Costa Rica. It's the coziest place i have ever seen and experienced with all the kitchen equipment you need. We also loved the sitting on the porch. Adriano and his wife are great, friendly and communicative hosts. The internet has it's limits, so if you are planning to watch movies, you should come prepared. We definitely recommend to have a car. It takes around 8 minutes to Dominical and 20-25 min. to Uvita, by car. We loved the Cabaña and will be more than happy to stay here again.

  • Although a bit tricky to find, and a little daunting of a ride to get up to where the house is located, we found it as expected from the photos in the listing. The views from the house are absolutely insane - you can see the ocean from both bedrooms and the kitchen/living area, and obviously can enjoy it from the deck/pool as well. The house area is setup so there are three distinct areas, one with the kitchen/living space, and then two separate bedrooms. The stairs leading up to the bedroom rap around the outside of the house. The kitchen was pretty well appointed with everything you need to be able to make your own meals, and there were several DVDs left for additional entertainment if desired, which we took advantage of during the evenings. We really enjoyed the pool/deck area, and spent most of our time outside here when we were at the house. The house is about a 10 minute drive from the main road, and about 15 minutes or so away from Dominical/Uvita, where you can find restaurants, liquor store, pharmacy, and grocery stores. There are also a couple of nice beaches within the same type of driving distance, and you are about 45-50 minutes away from Manuel Antonio. This place worked out perfectly for us as a private escape from the more touristy areas, with an amazing pool and outside area to enjoy. In addition, the housekeeper, Rudy, was an extremely nice guy who checked in on us several times during our stay to ensure everything at the house was up to standards and provided several recommendations for things to do and places to eat during our stay. The only downsides - There are quite a few insects that come out once the sun sets, and lots of spiders and ants around the deck area, but this was a minor inconvenience and to be expected since the house is essentially built into a jungle on the hillside. Also, we had a few issues with something that had spoiled in the refrigerator and left behind an awful smell. We were told that they tried to clean it out as best as they could, and the fridge was clean, the smell was just very off-putting. Overall, the house was very nice and a great deal to have a private place with a million dollar view. I would not hesitate to rent it again.

  • The house is spectacular just like the pictures. It was a bit tricky to find but Kevin helped me find it. I called and he answered immediately. Rudy, the house caretaker was simply amazing and helpful. I drove a car into a ditch and ran out of gas while trying to get the car out of the ditch. He came from far away just to bring us gas. He is so kind and helpful. He saved my life. You do nee (Website hidden by Airbnb) to come to the house. The sunsets were so beautiful! Thank you!

    Priscilla2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • The house is beautiful and the view is absolutely incredible! There is lots of wildlife around the house, you can hear the howler monkeys at night and watch the Toucans in the morning. The road up is VERY steep so its definitely wise to take the suggestion of a large engine 4x4, we managed it with a little 4cyl Daihatsu but it was a little tense at times lol. Chester is an amazing contact/host! He has lots of helpful information and was Available for any questions we has. When we got in after a short nights sleep and a LONG drive he was there to welcome us, it was just what we needed! Would definitely stay here again the next time we're in Uvita.

    Monica2016-12-17T00:00:00Z

    Kattia2018-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at kevin's place. We met Chester who was really nice to us and he recommended places to eat and have fun. We did follow his recommendations and we had an amazing time. The view is absolutely breathtaking and we really felt in the jungle at night, with the sound of toucans and howler monkeys. The only downside was that the pool was not ready yet but the workers didn't really bother us.

Enjoy the mountain view and beautiful sunsets from the hammock on the covered back porch of our fully equipped cabin. It’s simple but very cozy and comfortable. We are located 10 minutes by car from the beach. The map on here doesn’t show our exact location.
This one bedroom cabina comes with a private bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a small living area. You will love sitting or hanging in the hammock on the treetop back porch over looking the mountains and watching the birds.
We are located 10mnts by car from Dominical beach where you can find a variety of restaurants, bars, markets and lots of surf. All the main towns and attractions like Manuel Antonio, Uvita, Marino Ballena National Park, San Isidro are 30 minutes away by car from the cabin.
  • Me and my boyfriend stayed at Janet's cabin for about 4 days and the location was perfect! It's about a 3-4 minute drive away from Nauyaca Falls and 10 min. drive from the beach. The place was lovely with an amazing overlook of the mountains.

    Andrea2018-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Dominical was sooooo lovely. The house is so clean and beautiful and the view from the back porch is unmatched. Janet’s instructions for finding the house were so thorough. We absolutely loved our time spent here.

    Callan2018-04-24T00:00:00Z
  • Janet was very accommodating from start to finish. I was unsure about what dates i was going to book and had a few questions about the roads. She was kind and answered quickly.. we checked in very late at night and Janet was cool with it and set us up before we arrived. the cabin is so so so clean, so cute and comfortable.. very straightforward but totally exceeded my expectations.. location is convenient for day trips to Playa Dominical to Uvita. There’s a couple fruterias within a mile, and a little town with amazing local food along the road down to the highway. The driveway is dirt like most roads in the area, we managed fine in the rain with a sedan.. Great value. Great location off the beaten path.

    Florence2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t say enough good things about this place. You can walk to Nauyaca waterfalls from here. The beaches are very close. Janet was very friendly and responsive. Would definitely come again.

  • Small but very stylish cabin with tremendous outlook. Description absolutely accurate, even understated. Directions to place clear. Good communication. We stayed one night but would have been happy to stay far longer. SUV with high clearance best for access road

Dominical is a small beach town, with world-class surf and beautiful sunsets. There are several good restaurants and cafes, decent supermarkets, a bank and a pharmacy. There are a multitude of amazing outdoor experiences, tours and adventures to be had, which we can help arrange. Occasionally there is interesting night life although Dominical is more of a daytime place.
  • I have never stayed in a hostel before so i was not sure what to expect. The space is a good value and is definitely quiet. I had trouble locating it with my rental car GPS but they were great about communication. Being in a university neighborhood made me feel safe walking around the young and lively streets. The hostel did its job and served its purpose well, however, it is not a magical experience

  • Stayed at Danyasa for three days during a solo trip round Costa Rica. You'd be hard pressed to find anywhere more relaxing: I spent the three days practicing yoga, walking along the beach, reading in a hammock, drinking tea, chatting with people coming and going, and listening to the afternoon rain on the roof of the crazy Ewok village that Brendan's built up around the studio. The classes and practice space are fantastic, and the teachers are creative, mindful, and super conscious of individual bodies. I will be back. :)

    Jess2014-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Danyasa Eco-Retreat was the perfect spot in Dominical. It is a short walk from the beach and right in the center of town. The room had everything we needed: clean towels, comfortable bed and a/c. The communal dining room/porch and kitchen were great places to connect with other travelers. We loved practicing yoga in the studio on our own and taking classes a few times. Another favorite element were the dogs. I highly recommend this spot for people looking to meet other travelers, eat free coconuts and plantains, and enjoy outdoor showers.

    Jennie2014-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • We were at danyassa for only three nights. We loved the fact that it is located in the middle of Dominical. The vibe there is very communal. Their three dogs were precious. Beds were comfortable and the ac was key. The rooms are very secure which was nice to not have to worry about our stuff. The yoga studio is perched on top of the rooms which gives a lot of shade to the property and the rooms. We hardly ever saw the staff but if we needed something they were happy to help. The bathrooms and shower are all outside the rooms and shared. I didn't mind but my girl did. It just depends on who yar. The kitchen had everything we needed. The beach and really everything for that matter is just down the street. Seeing that it was the end of the high season just before Easter we had the entire place to ourselves. I don't think we saw anyone that wasn't staff the entire time. We actually enjoyed it.

    Doug2014-03-31T00:00:00Z
  • We fell in love with Danyasa. This is not just a plain AirBnB - it's a yoga eco retreat with an amazing vibe and space. We formed a family while there and enjoyed yoga offerings. Great location and overall stunning space!

  • Amazing location in an amazing town. Highly recommend staying here over anywhere in Manuel Antonio or Uvitas. Beautiful deck and yard. Air conditioned unit. Sweetest dog in the world. Just a world-class experience.

  • Un espacio tranquilo, especial, tiene lo necesario para pasar una estancia linda en Dominical. Todo el staff muy atentos, alegres y especiales. Lo recomiendo 100%! Muchas gracias :)

  • The room was very nice. It was cozy and perfect if you just need a place to sleep and chill out. It was in central Dominical so it was super convenient to get anywhere- everything was within walking distance. The host kept is distance, which was good because you were able to be independent, but was very helpful when I needed it. All-in-all, it was just what I needed.

The stunning Nauyaca waterfalls, where you can picnic and swim, are 20 minutes east of Dominical, and Marino Ballena national park ("whale tail") in Uvita is 20 minutes to the south. Manuel Antonio national park, which is considered one of the best parks and one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, is only 25 minutes to the north of the house.
  • Beds were comfortable, view and pool were great. Lots of animals to see. Drive up to the place requires a 4x4 and you must be comfortable driving on steep roads. Wifi was spotty. Saw more rain up in the hills than down by the beach. Overall we had a good stay ...

    Derek2017-06-03T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding location between Quepos and Dominical. Breathtaking views and wonderful terrace to enjoy meals or drinks outdoors. Perfect accommodation for our family of 5. Drive up the hill to get to the house is a little intimidating at first, particularly in the evening, but we got used to it. We had a daily visit from a sloth and you are really in the middle of the forest. We thoroughly enjoyed it and it was a once in a lifetime experience.

    Miguel2018-07-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location with views over the trees to the sea. Peaceful and a lovely pool. Only 2 of us stayed but plenty of room for 6 adults. BBQ and pool great.

  • Naama’s place was spectacular. We fully enjoyed getting immersed into the Costa Rican jungle with Naama’s house. You will wake up in the mornings to the sounds of many different animals. We saw toucans, parrots, lizards, and many other species daily. At night you will be greeted by a large toad feasting on the bugs at the back window if you leave the lights on. Naama’s recommendation of seeing Nauyaca Falls is a must. Long hike (there is a driving option) but absolutely worth it for the breathtaking views of the waterfalls. We also enjoyed being so close to Quepos and Dominical. Where we enjoyed the beaches, El Patio De Cafe Milagro (delicious restaurant) and Pops (great ice cream place!). I highly recommend staying at this house for a great secluded getaway and fun vacation. Only issues we had was the WiFi and water were temperamental. But that is nothing to deter you away. We are so thankful for the unforgettable week we had in Costa Rica staying at this house!

    Will2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Naama's house is a beautiful brand new villa. Everything inside the house is high quality. The views are spectacular. We saw lots of tucans, green parrots and other birds while having breakfast. Racoons, deers, peccaries and monkeys while driving up to the villa, where 4x4 vehicle is a must. the pool is lovely. Naama was fantastic and extremly helpful with all advice and answers to questions. We had a shortlasting issue with hot water which was promptly resolved by the property manager Josue. Overall a dream house and a super holiday. I would love to come back.

    Joanna2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • This is an amazing home with breathtaking scenery. The house is very well designed and lives very well. Though it is by the ocean, having a pool was a definite plus. It got a lot of use. The homes central location, with proximity to Domincal, Uvita and Quepos provides numerous options for restaurants, beaches, attractions, activities and nature within 30 minutes. You definitely need a 4x4 to get up and down from the location. Truly all the amenities of a modern home set within a remote location surrounded by nature. You will not be disappointed if you stay in this home. It is as beautiful as it looks in the pictures.

    Michael2017-04-10T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most beautiful houses I've ever stayed in , very clean , spectacular view of the mountains and ocean , very comfy and cozy. 5 star home .

    Charles2017-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing home and view! Beautiful sun rises and sunsets location! We would return to this Airbnb without a doubt! Host is great! The surrounding area of Dominical has great restaurants and plenty of things to do without the crowds! Close to Manuel Antonio! Easy to drive yourself to this area from San Jose airport but will need 4 wheel drive for road up to this amazing home! We loved our time in this area! Try the Happy Lobster at the bottom of the hill, go to restaurants La Parcelas and Por Que No. Let Josue set up surf lessons in Dominical. Go the Nauyaca Falls (we let them arrange us a truck ride up...well worth it)! Hire a guide with periscope in Manuel Antonio. Finally, wish we had spent another day in this area to explore the beaches!

  • If you are staying anywhere near the south coast, you MUST book a few nights at TLC with Ben & Nate! This is the peaceful, luxurious, hidden jungle, Costa Rican get-a-way you are looking for. Gracious welcoming hosts, delicious meals, quiet ocean views, amazing pool, immaculate room with a view that kept us on the porch for hours.... Even after sunset, as we watched the fireflies dance through the gardens that surrounded our cabin. It's private, it's sooooo peaceful, it's a small and fun little adventure to get there, and it's close to everything in Dominical & Uvita. Just go...you will be so happy you did. We cannot wait to return!

    Karen2016-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay! The place was even more beautiful than we anticipated, both the cabina and the property. We had breakfast with them twice, as well as a dinner, and the food was delicious. Ben and Nate were fabulous hosts, and we highly recommend Tree of Life Cabinas.

    Ken2017-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ben and Nate had a beautiful home! They went above and beyond to ensure my girlfriend and I got the most out of our stay in Dominical. They offered to book restaurants reservations for us, although we favored Ben's cooking to any restaurant we ate at in Dominical. Ben and Nate were so accommodating that we felt like family opposed to guest. We can't wait till we are back in Costa Rica, visiting our friend's at TLC =)

    Mezziah2016-01-14T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for a week and could easily have stayed for two. There is so much to do in the area. Ben and Nate are very accommodating and lots of fun to spend time with. The food is perfect, cabinas are super clean and comfortable. Swimming in the pool, looking out at the sun setting over the Pacific while Butterfly's, Toucans and Hummingbirds fly over head was not only heavenly it was the highlight of our stay in Costa Rica. Don't spend your time driving all over Costa Rica go and stay with Ben and Nate.

    Pete2016-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect: room, bed, hosts, food, location, organization. The best experience from our Costa Rica trip. You do need 4X4 to get there, but it adds to the whole experience.

    Olga2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is a incredible beautiful well maintained environment. Together with the excellent cooking our stay was perfection in paradise. Loved it, thx a million.

    Jeroen2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • I initially booked one night this place after seeing great reviews in Airbnb. Now I regret we could not stay longer. If Ben and Nate are Superhosts is because of their magnificent place and the extraordinary service they provide in each of their reservations. Really interesting story behind, which they shared with us with the delicious 3-course dinner prepared the night we stayed. The room is amazing with great views to the pool and the sea. High quality materials that made us feel in a 5-star hotel. Ben and Nate were always there to answer all our questions. Perfect end of our stay in Costa Rica, close to Marino Ballena and only 3 hours away from the airport.

for all the adventurer and nature-loving people! basic wooden house in the primary jungle with rain forest, waterfalls, rivers, etc. right at the front door! things to do: horseback riding, hiking, watching birds, swimming in the river or waterfall, listening to howler monkeys, making camp fire and enjoying life with a panoramic view! 4x4 is required as it is in the mountains (40 minutes from the nearest village, Savegre). I will provide you with lots of more information once contacted.
You will be able to explore the rain forest, including waterfalls, rivers, pasture and an incredible flora and fauna. Being woken up by the sound of the howler monkeys is only one argument for choosing this place. Watching a toucan to fly over the valley is another. Also the climate is much cooler, because it is located in the mountains, so you will have much more energy for exploration. Nevertheless, this place is also very well suited to let body, mind and soul relax and enjoy this amazing nature. You can simply sit in the shade and enjoy a wide panoramic view. The property is owned by an incredibly warmhearted Costa Rican family that cultivates the land. Mainly, they raise milk cows, sheep and horses. So when hiking in the fields, you might meet up with a beautiful animal, which will be surely more afraid of you than vice versa.
Even though this place is in the mountains, you will be able to get to the coast within 40 minutes (4x4 vehicle).
  • The farm was incredible. The highlight of our Costa Rica trip. Noemi and Johnny (owners of the farm) were wonderful hosts, their kids are awesome, and the farm is absolutely gorgeous. You are blowing it if you pass up the opportunity to stay here.

    Jace2017-08-29T00:00:00Z

    René2017-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights in the little blue cabin and were made to feel completely welcome by Johnny and Noemy and their extended family. Their house was a 10 minute drive down from the cabin, a 4x4 is essential to access the cabin. The dirt tracks were very steep in places but very worthwhile the effort. If you are looking for a tranquil retreat with only the fauna to keep you company and the stunning views to look at, then look no further. The cabin is totally off grid with solar panels providing the electricity and mountain water. The family will supply the meals at 3000 colones per meal, on both occasions it became a family event and was so much more than a meal in a soda with chat and banter. The cabin was basic but comfortable and for me it provided a tranquil base to let me reflect on the amazing 5 weeks I'd spent in Costa Rica, before my return home. The family will provide a guided walk for a small cost, through the surrounding forest, with snacks of foraged fruit and fresh coconut water. We were directed to a local beach that spread 46 miles with hardly a soul there. For me though I preferred to stay in the relative "cool" of the mountain . A real find.

    Jacqui2017-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place is nothing short of spectacular. If you are a birdwatcher, or anyone that wants to go to a secluded place with basic amenities, then this is your cup of tea. Imagine your own house with three bedrooms and balcony at the very end of the road way up in the mountain at around 1000 meters above sea level, at least 1-2km away from the nearest neighbor, surrounded by verdant green mountains of lush rainforest, tropical birds that wake you up with a cacophony of music at daybreak, and a strong rainstorm that lulls you to sleep. The catch is that to get to this secret jewel, you HAVE to have a 4x4 that is capable of going uphill 45% incline or more, dirty and muddy at parts, in the middle of a down pour in the worst case scenario. My stock land rover skidded wheels at some parts, we survived. If you don't have a 4x4, then they will take you up on their quadracycle and you will have to let them know what your plans are, since the cell phone signal is very poor. Their current house is 2-3km away, so it's not exactly around the corner. You can use their fridge if necessary, however Dos Bocas does not have a fridge. We used a Yeti cooler, and that worked great for us. Also, there are NO outlets except for two that are not for electrical appliances, however are for charging cellular phones for example. It is connected to the solar panel. Trust me, I tried using my electric skillet, but to no avail did it work. You can just use the gas stove (it has gas and lighter), kitchen implements, etc, however you do have to bring your own food if you don't plan on having them make food for you. Tip: Don't bring small children and dogs like I did. You won't be able to enjoy this place to the maximum. At night I did hear a mosquito a handful of times after going to bed, however later into the night it stopped, probably because night temperatures are always colder. If you don't like mosquitos buzzing in your ear, then bring a mosquito net since they don't have any, however it really isn't that necessary. What is very neat is hearing the Congo monkeys at night, and their goats that peaked out from under the house, but then they went back into the rainforest to graze, despite the jaguar having killed sheep animals over the years. This is definitely the place to go to if you want to go with your car to the middle of however, like Rara Avis, but not pay anything like what the other place charges. Another tip: It is not close to beach, don't plan to come down the mountain to go to the beach and go up again, it's at least 45min one way. Dos Bocas is marvelous. I can't wait for my son to grow up, so that...

    Arthur2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time with the family and at the cabin. It was the highlight of our trip. We can't say enough positive things about our stay at la finca. We climbed waterfalls, swam in clean rivers, rode horses and milked cows. We had an awesome meal prepared just for us and felt like one of the family. It was an awesome adventure! My family will never forget! Highly recommended for an authentic Costa Rican experience, 40 min to the beach, hatillo has the best cerveche ever! You must have a 4x4 as the climb to the homestead is seriously steep.

    Laura2017-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is difficult to reach, even with 4x4, but worth the difficult climb. It is secluded, and the views are lovely. Phone signal is spotty but available. The cabin is rustic, so do not expect anything but simplicity. The family is located below, about 15 minutes, and they are very friendly and will cook meals for you for a reasonable price.

  • A beautiful home in the jungle! We wished we could have stayed longer. It was so close to so many wonderful views/activities.

    Mary2017-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing place !!! Morpheus in the morning, noise of the jungle... to be noticed : The house is not completely impervious, you could have visitors in the morning :o) Maybe it could be worth having more guides or explanations about how to use in-house services (trash can, wifi, laundry ...) and you are in the jungle !

    Virginie2017-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Belle maison mais trop enfermé dans la jungle oppressant Piscine trop profonde et peu pratique d'accès un superbe barbecue mais pas d'information pour acheter de la bonne viande ou poisson dommage donc pas utilisé .

  • Casa Escondido is absolutely magestic! The house is very adequatelly adapted to the surrounding jungle, we even spotted toucans while chilling in the pool! At nightime the sounds of birds, insects and all sorts of mysterious animals is a very unique experience. Our children loved this "adventure" and we hope we can return sometime soon.

    Rosa2017-04-14T00:00:00Z
  • April will do everything to make your stay enjoyable. When we had car rental issues, she was right on it and lined up another airport company (Vamos) that was the best. (A tip to all: If the daily car rental rate you book on the internet is suspiciously low, that's because it is. You may not find out about Costa Rican insurance laws until you are at the rental desk and find the total price way more than expected.) We stayed five days each at Casa Escondida and Casa Linda Vista. We didn't know how we could part from the beautiful pool at the former until we sat looking out at the mountain views from the deck of the former. Each of these homes have their own character, but you can see April's care and thoughtfulness evrywhere.

    John2018-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was pretty awesome to stay in the jungle in such a great place. If you are looking for a special place to experience this part of Costa Rica I would recommend April’s! She was helpful and available. The house has all the amenities of home, with an open air feeling.

  • About a 10 minute drive from the beaches and main strip of Dominical, this is a perfectly tucked away and private get-away!

    Aubrey2017-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • We ended up staying only one night at the jungle house. The location is outside of Dominical about a 15 min drive up a steep hill. We left early because a window would not shut completely and let in a large amount of beetles, moths, grasshoppers, etc.

Come enjoy a beautiful rainforest retreat nestled on the hill above the cozy beach/surf town of Dominical! The house is entirely surrounded by nature and wildlife all while a short drive down the hill to anything you'd need in the town, and near to numerous adventures and tourist attractions. 100 species of birds have been recorded here. The home has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and sleeps 4. There's also a living room, fully equipped kitchen, and all of the rooms open out onto a terrace and pool.
The house is quite well secluded so you'll have peace and privacy without being far from town and the beach. The property looks out over the jungle and ocean on the edge of a 250 acre jungle preserve with numerous walking trails. There's also plenty of wildlife to see right from the property. The monkeys love our mango tree in the driveway and beautiful birds are everywhere. The space is handicap accessible, though the access road is quite steep and you'll need a 4wd vehicle The property's caretaker lives on the neighboring property, and they (Edwin and Sadie) are able to help with any issues. Sadie is also able to do laundry for a fee. The house is equipped with ceiling fans throughout and the temperatures cool down considerably in the evening.

  • Peter and Rose's place is awesome! The location is beautiful! On a clear day we could see the ocean and the mountains behind the ocean!! The house is fabulously done and the kitchen has all the appliances and tools you need to prepare and enjoy your meals. The pool, albeit a little small, was a perfect place to take a cooling dip and entertained our kids for a good while. Peter was quick to respond to all our questions. They were not kidding when they said that you'd need a 4x4 to get to their house though...the hill to their home is quite steep. We really enjoyed our time at Peter & Rose's house and would not hesitate to stay there again and have actually recommended their place to friends visiting the area!

    Lindsey2017-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Pool very nice for cooling off. House well laid out. Comfortable bed.

    Wendy2018-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Peter and Rose were friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of tips about places to see and things to do. The area around Dominical has beaches for surfing, boogey boarding, and swimming. There are Mangrove tours, wildlife tours and a large national park nearby. The house is in a Rainforest Preserve and is on a hillside with a view all the way to the beach. They are serious when they say you need a 4WD vehicle to get up the road. I am a quadriplegic and the house was completely wheelchair accessible. Peter even arranged for me to go parasailing! We highly recommend this house and this area.

Here in primary jungle canopy ‘’Casa Falling Water’’ is perched above the fork of two creeks. From inside this minimalist custom Villa with walls of glass your looking at your private 25’ foot waterfall plunging into a natural pool. Adjacent to the pool is your private lounging/yoga platform. With the lights at night this all glimmers. Ultra-modern, Minimalistic design. Over half the villa walls are glass.
Inside the Villa boast a a fully equipped kitchen with granite counters, Berkey water filter system and stainless appliances. Ceilings soar to 14’feet. The private bedroom opens to living area. As well as a loft area with 2nd bed accessed by ‘’floating stairs’’.
  • Villa Falling Water was amazing. This place is beautiful, and as others have said the pictures don't do it justice. The open concept and large windows make it feel even larger than it is, and you feel like you're in the jungle even while inside. There is a full kitchen with a blender and a Berkey water filter. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 10 days during our first trip to Costa Rica. Charlie recommended using (Hidden by Airbnb) to communicate with him and Giesel, and it worked great. They gave us great directions and, recommended we stoped at the BM Supermarket on the way, and we wer'e glad we did. Charlie was waiting for us at the end of the driveway, and led us up to the Villa. You will definitely need a 4x4, but the road is very manageable. They were also in the process of improving the road while we were there. The caretakers' home is located very close, but the buildings are designed so you still have complete privacy. Charlie made it clear that while we were staying there the space was ours, and we wouldnt see anyone without notice via the two way radio in the kitchen. We felt very safe and secure at property. There is a remote coltrolled gate about 3/4 of the way up the driveway. The location is great. Dominical is a small surf town, with a great beach, restaurants, and activities. Dominical is about 20 mimutes from the house. There is also a beautiful secluded beach about 15 minutes away called Playa Linda. We barely saw anyone else there. The caretakers were amazingly kind and helpful. They made us feel at home and it was nice to know they were right there if we needed anything. I would love to stay at Villa Falling Water again!

  • I highly recommend Charlie’s place if you are looking for seclusion within the jungle in a luxurious modern home. It’s centrally located to Manual Antonio and Dominical which I really enjoyed as I was able to experience much of what both towns had to offer. As others mentioned, you will most definitely need a 4x4

  • Great design, open small house. Sounds in the morning amazing between private waterfall and jungle sounds. Very convenient, private, clean and private setting. Highly recommend if you want to be between Dominical and Quepos.

    Andres2018-07-09T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie’s place was an amazing dreamy like tropical hide out. Anyone looking to submerge themselves into the jungle, yet still being close to the beach and main highway, this is the place! Thanks Charlie 😁

    Jeffrey2018-07-07T00:00:00Z

    Carolina2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Charlie’s house and property were gorgeous. I stayed at Villa Falling Water for a week and could’ve spent every day enjoying the beautiful house and natural surroundings. After reading the other reviews, I was somewhat concerned about the road/driveway situation but it was much easier than I expected. With a 4x4 there’s nothing to worry about. It took a day or two to get used to no cell service and the jungle WiFi... I soon found myself enjoying being able to truly disconnect and just appreciate the time I spent there. There are some really great beaches in the area. None of them were very crowded, but I found myself at playalinda twice a day. There’s no signage for it, but take a left out of Charlie’s road at the Happy Lobster (definitely eat there, by the way) and go maybe a mile or so and look for the road with two radio towers on the right. Most of the time, I was the only one there or maybe one of a handful. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I am looking forward to my next visit!

  • After my first 10 minutes at Villa Falling Water, I understood what the Japanese mean by shinrin-yoku, which is the healing practice of immersing yourself in the forest. The geometry of the home and its views to the surrounding rainforest and waterfall could not be more harmonious. Furthermore, the place is clean and and the amenities are modern, and because I am not a COMPLETE hermit, I was happy to have a decent HDTV with the full range of cable offerings (for many channels, you can change the dubbed language between Spanish and English by using the "Audio" button on the remote). The house is oriented to face the woods, so it's extremely private, but being a solo traveler, I appreciated that the caretaker's home was very close by and both he and Charlie were just a call away on their walkie talkie system. Charlie was even cool enough to let me use the pool at one of his other houses (it happened to be vacant that weekend), which was much appreciated on a hot afternoon. Wifi was in and out, both in the home and on my own portable hotspot from the rental car, but that's just the way things are in the jungle. This is a great spot for zen enthusiasts, design lovers, and moderately adventurous types who still appreciate a nice bathroom.

  • The home was stunning, exactly as pictured. You can see the waterfall from everywhere in the house. The waterfall was beautiful and so relaxing to have coffee by in the morning. However, our stay was ended after only one night because there was a huge bug problem. In the one night we were there, we killed 2 spiders which had a 4-5 in circumference, 4 cockroaches, a handful of beetles and a ton of flying insects. We understand that being in the rainforest would mean some bugs, we're not unreasonable, but the size and quantity of the bugs was unacceptable. Because the house is all glass, at night all the insects in the rainforest are drawn to the light. If there were curtains that blocked the light in the evenings so less bugs would try to get in, that would probably help a lot. Charlie, however, was kind enough to refund our next two nights when we cancelled which we really appreciated. Overall, the home was beautiful and the views stunning, but the amount of bugs made for a bit of a nightmare experience.

  • What a beautiful place in the mountain. Thank you Nanto for your hospitality and for sharing your knowledge with us. We had an amazing week eating all kind of different fruits and fresh vegetables and relaxing by the pool or the porch with a coffee. Your place is a real paradise. Thanks for everything.

  • Jeff and nando's place was breathtaking. The scenery, architecture, ambiance and the feeling of tranquility was exactly what my family and I were looking for. Waking up to a fresh, picturesque view of the mountains and the lalauby musical sounds of the birds was amazing. Not to mention taking a morning swim in the infinity pool overlooking the mountain views was just priceless. The grounds and home is well manicured and clean. My mom and my aunt couldn't stop fauwning over this detail. Jeff and nando are truly amazing hosts, they have gone above and beyond to making our stay at their home a memorable one. By the way, the barbq grill send off dinner and the morning breakfast was amazing. (I highly recommend you request this activity for a reasonable cost). Thank you to infinity Jeff and nando.

  • Timely & copious communication, warm hospitality, and a host of other reasons will make Sueños Mariposas a vacation you will always remember. Our boys loved it there, too. It is truly paradise on the mountain.

  • Really a class A Airbnb. Nando and Jeff rescued me from another Airbnb that had become inaccesible. So much privacy and tranquility and most beautiful views. The cabins were perfect for relaxing working or entertaining. So much space and really the most comfortable space to stay away from home. Wish I had longer to enjoy the grounds and the pool. I have stayed in 3 airbnb’s In this area and this is by far the best! And a terrific value to boot! Super friendly and could not have been more accommodating hosts as well!

    Debbie2018-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nuestra estancia ha sido maravillosa. El entorno y la casa son espectaculares. Únicamente como punto negativo, no haberme quedado más días allí!! Tanto Jeff como Nando, son encantadores. De verdad, algo inmejorable.

The beautiful river Barú borders the back of our property, you can also stroll upriver for a lovely nature walk. There are dozens of other beaches close by along the coast with gentle waters, and many rivers, waterfalls, mangroves, and more for daily swimming and exploration. The tour companies and locals are pretty amazing. Ask us for more info and we'll get you hooked up. Yoga is very popular here in town and you have access to daily classes as well as the option for private lessons.
  • Todo cool, lugar súper relajado y pintoresco a la vez, las cabañas ad hoc con este, restaurantes para comer a escasos metros de ahí al igual que el supermarket!!

  • Om Suite Om was a wonderful and affordable way to enjoy Dominical beach life. I loved everything about it. The owner was wonderful. Our front door wasn't locking and we spoke to him about the issue and his put on a new lock within 2 hours! It was great.

  • I can not thank Ben enough for all that he did for us. From the thoroughness and promptness in response to all of my inquiries and questions, to the care of us getting a rented vehicle. He went above and beyond!    Om Suite Om was a very nice place to stay. The bed was most comfortable. The shower was so nice and the space of it all was just right. They have a safety deposit box in the room, which we found to be nice. There is a community kitchen which accommodates nicely. It's set up very well.   Om Suite Om is nestled right in the midst of everything. A little natural food store, massage spa, cafe, gift shops, salon and a delicious taco place are all nearby. There's a sushi restaurant behind the office and it's just walking distance to the beach. Along the way is the hustle and bustle of cars, buses and people walking. With almost endless shops of all there can be to peak one's interest. Food, gifts, laundromat and rental places. There's just about everything walking distance.   Om Suite Om was just about perfect. Ben who was the one I corresponded with the majority of the time, was superb. He is what made the place perfect. I just can't say enough good words about him and his service and kindness towards us. We really appreciate all that he did for us. The price for our room rental was just right too. Very happy with our choice. We really enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend Om Suite Om!

  • We had a great stay at Om Suite Om. The area was lovely, with great cafes, shops and restaurants. Nicole was very helpful and gave us lots of tips :)

    Kristoffer2016-11-18T00:00:00Z
  • Om Suite Om is the perfect place for a guest looking for a clean and well managed place to stay. We stayed here for 2 weeks and although it was lovely we found it lacked privacy between rooms and was in the heart of the night life. This was not a problem if we were participating in the night life however on the nights we needed some extra sleep it proved difficult to drown out the noise.

  • Excellent villa--stay here!!!

    Mary2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • This house was easily one of the best AirBnB's I've been able to visit. The house itself was very clean, and both beds were extremely comfortable. The pool and accompanying view are perfect. This is definitely a great location to stay when you're looking to get away and relax. The only reasons you may not want to stay here: 1) If you do not have a 4-wheel drive vehicle or 2) you need faster than 3G internet. If these are not issues for you, book this place now!

    Sarah2017-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • The views from this house are AMAZING!! The house was also very beautiful. I spent every morning reading out by the pool. So relaxing! My only complaint is that the wifi didn't work, but I really didn't want to use any technology while I was in paradise, anyway, so it really didn't matter. I would definitely recommend staying here!

    Laura2017-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cascada Azul is in a beautiful location overlooking the ocean and is very comfortable and secure. It was nice to have a full kitchen and laundry available since other places we stayed did not offer those ameneties. It is very relaxing to sit by the pool at night and listen to the sounds of the rainforest. I would highly recommend this place to anyone considering traveling to the area.

    Jason2016-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • We love it! Best place ever. We will definitely go back. It is more beautiful than the picture. If you want to relax this is the best place. There is also a restaurant & bar in the coner of the main street that was excellent too in case you do not want to cook. Highly recommended. The house has everything, I love the design of the house it make me feel like home. This property deserve more than 5 start. Excellent job! Love it.

Comfortable bungalows are tucked into the rainforest on a hillside with stilts like tree houses, with artisan roofs and a spacious outside deck, creating a wonderful space for relaxation. Bungalows have two queen size beds, large view windows, satellite TV, a desk, kitchenette, and private bathroom. Housekeeping service is provided. There is a private trail leading to natural pools in a river. Waterfalls are a 5-minute walk from the bungalows. Housekeeping and taxes included.
This place is so special because it is located in the coastal rainforest between the Central Pacific and Southern Pacific regions of Costa Rica. Just off the Costanera Highway (CR-34), minutes from beautiful tropical beaches and close to the famous Manuel Antonio National Park and the Ballena Marine National Park. It is a very pleasant house, with all the necessities of the modern live, but away from it, nested in the magical tropical forest. The house is only 10 minutes walking distance from the Portasol Living famous park, La Cazuela, awesome waterfall ending on crystal clear river pools where you can actually swim and jump off.
There are many activities in the area: zip linning in Quepos, Rafting class 3 on the Savegre River, Surf Lessons in Dominical, Stand Up Paddle baord in the mangrove, ATV tours, waterfalls or just take a volleyball ball and go enjoy the beach. We are sure you will not get bored
  • The bungalows are perfect. We should have stayed more than 1 night there. There are beautiful beaches just 10 minutes drive from there. Very peaceful place, right in the middle of the jungle. The fall close by is beautiful and easy to access! I'd recommend this place to anyone who can afford it!

  • We stayed in both the bungalow and the apartment and both were amazing and unique in their own way. The staff was kind, helpful and professional. I almost didn’t want to write this review so that I could keep this amazing place a secret. Staying here was the best experience. They were accommodating when we opted to stay an extra night and provided us with “insider” advise and tips. The local hidden beaches were beyond words. Loved everything about this place.

The Joglo Tree House is located on a 20 acre property surrounded by 1000 acres of lush jungle with great 180 degree ocean views from Manuel Antonio to the Osa peninsula in the South. The incredible balance of sand, sea and mountains makes Dominical a destination worth traveling to. It has clockwork sunsets with a fiery glaze, and dark volcanic sands that warm the ocean to balmy temperatures. Moments away from the beach are pools of fresh water and natural waterfalls that cascade down the mountainside. Dominical lays on the Southern Pacific Ocean and is bordered to the north by the Río Barú, a freshwater river that runs from the mountains into the ocean. creating a rushing current that you can find and track as you walk along the beach. To the east 3000-foot mountains create a cloud forest, and to the south dark volcanic ash creates coffee colored beaches and coves. Since the main part of the town of Dominical is set slightly back from the beach, it seems to magically disappear as you drift into the water, leaving only the tall beach palms and mangroves surrounded by fertile green hills to guide you along the coastline. The international surfing community has known Dominical Costa Rica for many years. It became a destination in the early seventies by a group of spirited and dedicated surfers, and because of its consistently good waves Dominical has steadily gained in popularity over the last 30 years. The town has become a haven for surfers, with local restaurants offering “Starving Surfer” specials and nonstop surf videos. The unusual conditions of the beach give the surf its size, dependability and the gentle run off and white water splash that also make it perfect for learning. The wave is a beach break with a twist that originates from the mouth of the Río Barú to the north. The river empties out of the mountains to the east and deposits sediments that form into a sand bar that spreads like a pair of sleepy rabbit ears north and south of the mouth. Only recently have people discovered and been attracted by its natural beauty. Not more than fifteen years ago the only buildings to be found were a few dilapidated fishing huts built by local fishermen. Since then the town has grown to over 700 permanent residents with a number of small beachfront restaurants, bars and cabins. Even with the emergence and growth of the town, it is possible to walk from one end of Dominical to the other in less than ten minutes. The area surrounding Dominical, especially to the south, is almost completely unpopulated. Because of this, the area is full of hundreds of different species of exotic animals including; three different types of toucans, giant green and red iguanas, all four types of native monkeys, parrots of all sizes and hues, three toed sloths and various small cats such as jaguarondis and montegordos. There are two national reserves (Hacienda Baru) in the immediate area, and three more only an additional hour and a half away (Manuel Antonio National Park, Corcovado National Park and Caño Island National Preserve) . To the south is the country’s underwater national park, Marino Ballena. Here it is possible to see a pristine underwater world with scores of multi-colorful marine creatures, coral reefs and jagged, ash black, volcanic rocks and tide pools. In a country full of beautiful views, lush landscapes, tropical attractions, and cloud forests, Dominical has the perfect balance between walking on soft sand or hiking along fresh water streams.
  • If you’re reading this review, BOOK THIS PLACE. Your search has stopped. I thought when I booked this would be incredible. Then I arrived, and words can’t describe. Jake and Oscar are incredible hosts. Oscar set up in villa chef, a massage and booked an excursion. All I had to pay for was the service, no additional money. They make you feel so comfortable even in the middle of the jungle. The home should be in an architectural magazine and I can’t believe how affordable it is for the 5 star experience. Jungle life is all around you. Frogs and toucans and monkeys. It’s surreal and I’ve stayed in 5 star resorts. While they don’t have the same large staff as those resorts, you don’t miss a thing and they don’t miss a beat. The only downside was leaving. You won’t regret staying here. Thanks Oscar and Jake!

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. The Glass House was a unique and cool place to stay and the beach is fantastic. Seeing the monkeys from inside our room was awesome. Charlie was very prompt and his son rents surf and boogie boards. That was a real highlight as our kids loved their first ever surf lesson in perfect conditions.

  • Amazing place. Feels like heaven. Charlie is an amazing host, so far the best host we met in Costa Rica. The place is by the beach, the staff great and very friendly, feels like home! I totally recommend it. Hope we will come again.

  • Super lieux pour profiter de la magnifique plage, les conseils pour les restaurants sont super. Cuisine pas vraiment équipée pour se faire des repas complets. Lit comfortable.

  • Stayed in the glass room. The curtains covered the bedroom space for privacy. The air conditioning worked great and bed was very comfortable. Super close to the beach and even had a sweet local dog, Flash, accompany us each day for walks. Charlie is very outgoing and willing to accommodate his guests. We had a simple breakfast each morning that was provided with fruit, eggs, and toast. The pool is very refreshing and the view is breath taking. Grateful for the opportunity to mingle with locals and Charlie.

  • We had a wonderful stay! Close to the beach, great accommodation, and Charlie is an amazing host :) We will be back one day for sure.

    Rob2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We don’t even know where to start, it was that great… Charlie was so personable and helpful and his staff was too. The breakfast that was included was more than a nice touch (and delicious) and having dinner prepared for us one night as well was a special treat. The place Charlie recommended for lunch (La Percela) is a hidden gem. The glass house and the property in general gave us a front row seat to the daily late afternoon monkey show. How amazing is that??? The beach access could not have been better—cross the gravel road and you’re there, enjoying the beach with at most 10 other people, making this a truly unique experience. As others have posted, Matapalo is off the beaten path. If you’re looking for crowds, this is not the place for you. If you’re looking to relax, watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets, collect sand dollars and enjoy the waves, look no further than this house or any of Charlie’s establishments. You won’t be disappointed. We also highly suggest taking a trip to Nauyaca Falls, which is only about ½ hour away. Well worth the hike to see and to stay and swim.

    Cinda2017-04-04T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and so close to the beautiful beach! Charlie was more than welcoming. Provided us with wonderful breakfasts. Very reasonable surfing lessons available from his son. Would do it all over again!

    Brad2017-11-05T00:00:00Z

Million dollar view with rustic accommodations. What is adventure to you? If it's surfing, bird-watching, hiking, kayaking or lounging in a hammock with incredible views - this is the place for you. The Dominical Adventure Treehouse has wide open ocean views, Wildlife viewing platform, Sunset yoga platform, Infinity plunge pool with Water yoga platform. Quarter mile downhill to the Pacific Coast Highway, and less than 1 kilometer to downtown Dominical.
Pacific oceanfront treehouse/cabin suitable for adventure campers. 2.4 acres of private elevated front row oceanfront rainforest above a top 10 surfing beach. Secured entrance to acreage, covered fantastic wildlife viewing balcony, secure luggage storage, campers kitchen (electric hot plate, minifridge, blender, pots, pans, silverware). Infinity edge plunge pool has the best view in the area, except for maybe the adjacent Wildlife viewing platform. The neighborhood entrance is on the Pacific Coast Highway directly across the street from the Roca Verde Restaurant/Hotel/Bar which is 1 km South of Dominical town center. The lot is a steep quarter mile climb up to the left to the gated/locked entrance to the lot. Unless you are fit and willing to walk up, a vehicle (easier for 4 wheel drive) is useful for the short but steep climb from the Pacific Coast Highway to the neighborhood and lot entrance. The caretaker Julio speaks Spanish. By text or phone I can translate, if needed. Julio is extremely helpful and can provide a ride to town, deliver fresh seafood, or run errands. Rental is best suited for eco-friendly travelers. Lounge on folding futon/sleepers or hammocks. The showers are private and open-air. There is a sense of open-ness, with few doors and no windows. You really live amongst the monkeys and other jungle creatures while taking in the most incredible ocean view over a world class surfing beach. Wi-fi service is available on the property. You are welcome to use wifi from the adjacent building (on the property) if reception (or signal extender) is poor. As time goes by, I learn that clients vary widely in their expectations of a rainforest jungle treehouse. The "nature" here is unbridled, and (IMO) the experience is closer to "Avatar" than "glamping". The water is from a well, and verified as good to drink. I recommend buying a water bottle to carry on adventures, then fill as needed from the faucet. I have staff that live elsewhere on the property, while they continue to work on the other treehouse about 100 feet away. They can be extremely helpful regarding removal of a developing wasp's nest, introducing Lucas, the pet coati, showing how the kitchen or water system works, or arranging for seafood delivery, if you are so inclined. Their presence also provides security for the property and your possessions.
Other listings claim to be real close - I know them personally and many are not. Their provided maps can be deceiving. My neighborhood is literally 1 kilometer south of downtown Dominical, and a quarter mile climb up from there. That means the view is beyond compare and it is conveniently close. The neighborhood consists of much nicer homes that rent out for high dollar. Please respect other owners/guests.

Dennoch: Ein bezaubernder Platz!!!

    Aline2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jeffrey was communicative and responsive throughout and his staff was helpful upon arrival. We were disappointed to find that the internet only worked 1/3 days and only on a laptop, not a phone. We also took cold showers because the water heater on the shower head did not work. The view is amazing, but keep in mind there's no barriers like permanent screens and there are plenty of bugs, which are not usually an issue unless it gets really rainy. I would not recommend going in the rainy season as the futons/sheets were damp and cold to sleep in. Overall, we knew it was going to be rustic, but had a few surprises that left us a little disappointed.

    Claire2016-07-24T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place for those of us that love an open air experience. The view is spectacular and it's supper convenient to the superb Dominical beach. We had no issues getting up the hill in a motorbike and although it's steep, most of it is now paved. Jeffery did a great job at communicating. I'd advise you stay in close touch as your approach your arrival time and make sure he is aware of any changes. Travel estimates are always optimistic in Costa Rica but somehow we made great time and ended up arriving quite early. Fortunately Jeffery was very prepared and it was not a problem.

  • AMAZING! Beautiful views of the azure ocean. Fell asleep to the sound of the waves. Gently woken by the beautiful toucans in the trees in front. I picked fresh fruit for breakfast, 20 yards in the jungle from where i slept. Banana trees and star fruit added even more bright color to the green grass and jungle trees. I saw flocks of birds chattering in the trees that looked like brightly colored parakeets. I felt very secure on the property, it was very private as you can see no other houses, the only views are breathtaking. every view from the open tree house affords the opportunity to to stop what your doing, be it cooking a meal or taking a shower. (fantastic bathroom) and just think "WOW!" I'd just sit there and look at the view. I never just sit anywhere. We slept under a mosquito net on the open deck. Not only romantic, but perfect temperature. It says tree house but has lights and plug ins for charging phones and wi-fi. The location was perfect. Its jungle to the beach. (you can rent a surf board for $10 a day. You have to try surfing!) or cute rustic restaurants and bars with the most fantastic cheap, natural food. Also in between small towns where you can by food or do banking. Its the perfect jumping off point for adventure, what ever level your secure with. We drove our SUV up the mountain and into valleys that would blow your mind. the roads were rough and exciting but not a problem. didn't use 4 wheel drive once. We drove across cable suspension bridges, through thick jungle that was alive with sounds you only hear in movies, surfed in the warm ocean and then drove down the road to the fresh water river and rinsed off. There are artists on the beach that sell hand made jewelry and crafts. Very cool and unique things. After every fun filled day it was so nice to enter the giant front gates and process the whole day. its surrealistic to me. I can not stop gushing to everyone I meet. You cannot find a better value for the location. (don't tell Jeff the owner ;) Ken Coburn, Spokane Washington 2016.

  • I am hesitant to write this because I want to keep this secret to myself, but the Dominical Treehouse is amazing. It is clean, comfortable and everything we hoped for. We love camping, so it was perfect for us, but even those who aren't necessarily "campers" will enjoy this place. The view, sounds of the jungle and ocean and overall charm of the property are enchanting. We have moved up the coast now and are staying in a condo, but wish we were able to stay in the treehouse longer. We cannot wait to return!

    Ginger2017-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience was at times scary. We arrived after dark and felt it could have been a scene from Jurassic park! Got through the night and woke up to a beautiful view fresh bananas and coconuts and a magical place! The tree house exceeded our expectations! Fresh sheets and towels waiting upon our arrival and the place was very clean! This was our favourite place throughout our road trip in Costa Rica! Dominical was awesome we at at tortilla flats and had awesome surf lessons from Debbie! always made it back to the tree house before dark and spent our evenings listening to Adele or reading, you never needed to set an alarm as the sunshine woke us up every morning! Didn't need the hot water shower either, the shower was perfect temperature to cool us down! Overall we would recommend to friends and stay there again!

A unique tropical home with artistic details and gorgeous garden. All the conveniences of town plus wildlife watching, epic sunsets and lounging. Walk to the beach for surf and play, or go up the river for kayaking or SUP.
Tucked in the heart of a vibrant surf town is the riverfront oasis of Jazzy's River House. While not actually built on or in a living tree, our rental home feels just like a treehouse because it's open to the surrounding gardens and bamboo. It has an upstairs loft that sleeps 5, with balcony views over the Baru estuary and the sandy beach and breaking surf beyond. Mosquito nets are provided for all of the beds, but not always needed. Downstairs there is a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and living space, all with hand applied details. The home looks out on a tree-sheltered garden. Protected, secure, and convenient, this will be your refuge in Dominical. Home owners Ruby and Steve live in another open-air home on the same property and welcome you to experience their style of pura vida.
Right from your doorstep, come and go at your leisure, up the lane to our bustling little village with its warmhearted welcoming charm and satisfying conveniences. Or paddle quietly the other way, upstream toward the biggest trees and deepest pools, or downstream toward the river mouth and out to the open sea!
  • Ruby and Steve are very welcoming hosts. They told us everything we needed to know, like places to visit, restaurants or surfspots nearby. The cabina is beautiful and very clean. We had a great time and would totally recommend it.

    Christian2017-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Ruby's place is the exact reason why Airbnb exists. Where else could you stay in a hand built tree house style home minutes away from a beautiful beach? Amazing ! As everyone has said, they are great hosts. We recommend getting an art lesson from Ruby if you have time! Things to note - nature can find its way into your home in both good and bad ways so just be prepared for that. Also the club/restaurant does play some pretty loud music on ladies night, Ruby offers to give you ear plugs if you want. All in all we loved staying at such a unique place in a great little surf town. Delicious food, good people and beautiful views.

    Megan2017-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Steve & his wife Ruby were excellent hosts - friendly & warm. They greeted us and helped us with any & every thing we needed in town. The sweet dog, Rio, accompanied us most everywhere we went in town! He was our personal tour guide! The directions to the house were perfect. The house itself was even more beautiful than pictured. It is completely open-air, while they do have mosquito netting for the beds, you will encounter a few bugs. The beds are comfortable & the house is spotlessly clean. The beach is an easy 3 minute walk and the surrounding restaurants & cafes are fabulous! A great, easy little town for a get-away!

    Keitsa2015-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, 14 year old son & I just returned from a great stay at Steve & Ruby Kim's. They are wonderful people with a wealth of knowledge about the town, area, and country and are happy to answer any questions. Steve is an avid surf teacher and gave my son a lesson. The lovely rental is located in the center of Dominical so super handy to everything. We had a car for day trips and walked everywhere else. We usually ate breakfast & lunch in and went out for dinner - lots of great places to chose from. The kitchen had everything we needed including a blender for smoothies and ice coffee. Don't leave any food out as there are lots of tiny ants if you do. It was very hot so it was nice to have 2 fans for sleeping. There is lots of noise from the town at night including live music, animals, people, and bugs and with no walls you definitely hear it but I'm a light sleeper and it didn't bother us at all. My son and I got bit by mosquitoes/no-seeums? so I would highly recommend bug repellent, after-bite, and light pants/long sleeves/socks to wear in the evening to prevent bites. Thanks Steve & Ruby for a lovely experience in Dominical.

    Cindy2016-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Steve and Ruby were relaxed and welcoming hosts, very generous with their time and space and keen for me to have the stay that was exactly right for me. The cabina is a wonderfully unique way to travel and I'm so glad I tried it. I had minimal issues with bugs - the bed's mosquito net worked very well. I loved showering looking out at the jungle foliage and hearing the monkeys and birds. Bear in mind the cabina is open air in a small town so you can hear some traffic, dogs and music (if you're a light sleeper Ruby has top notch ear plugs). Dominical is a relaxed little town with a great yoga studio and cafes catering for veggie, vegan & GF travellers all 2 mins walk from the cabina. The beach is perfect for long strolls or surfing. A very enjoyable and chilled week. Thank you Steve & Ruby.

    Clare2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • The open air house was all we expected and then some. The pictures don't even do the place justice, its gorgeous. Another bonus is that the house is directly behind one of my favorite restaurant/ bars in Dominical, which made for a short walk home! Didn't meet Steve but his wife was there and very nice. I messed up on the dates and they we're very accommodating. Great spot, I will be back.

    Curtis2015-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • This place was amazing and so were our hosts! This is truly a unique accommodation, right in the heart of Dominical. The 'treehouse' (and it does feel like a house in the trees) exceeded our expectations. This place is just steps from restaurants, shops and numerous things to do and see. It was nice not to have to drive or taxi for our entire stay. We only wish it was longer (we stayed 4 days). Great layout that was funky and open yet cozy, with all the comforts of home but funky and different from anywhere else we stayed so you feel like you are truly somewhere else. The entire property was very clean and well kept. We barely noticed (and in fact welcomed) the lack of windows or screens as it was hot and we didn't even see any bugs other than a few ants (but this is the tropics). The 2 fans upstairs made the bed comfortable even in the hottest time of year. There is so much love put into this place and it is mirrored by the owners place across the yard. Dominical was great but we found Steve and Kim's to be the best part about it! Lounging among the bamboo on the private upstairs deck/bedroom (with great Wifi) was one of our favorite pastimes right up there with having great conversations with our lovely hosts! Steve and Kim are awesome people and we wish there were our neighbors at home too! Very respectful of our privacy and also very welcoming when we frequently popped in for a visit. Steve even gave us a surfing lesson (which we highly recommend)!

    Lawrence2016-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Definitely a unique place to experience Dominical in a secluded setting. Steve is very knowledgeable about the area, being a long time resident with his wife Kim. I definitely recommend having bug spray handy; the mosquito netting for the bed works fine. Unfortunately we found it to be too urban of an experience for us early in our stay, and they were very gracious in accommodating our departure to find more remote lodging. They are lovely hosts, and we wish them the best.

Gated within a 10+hec of protected rainforest, our home is ecologically designed- simple and clean. You can see sloths, agoutis, toucans, kinkajous and a variety of cats direct from our wrap around 2nd story porch (no ocean view from house). A wildlife lovers dream. Hidden in the jungle, yet convenient to Dominical (surf) and Quepos (fishing). All the benefits of a vacay without the hassle of resort tourism. Designed to be open air and disconnected from the outside world stresses. PRIVATE.
The home is very private and located within a gated community. A 4X4 VEHICLE IS REQUIRED to gain admittance to the site. We do not have landlines and therefore, no wifi service(hotspot only). Many are able to check emails via phone service. Dominical offers the most convenient access to internet cafes (approximately 10 minutes). The home is open air with screens and fans in each room. There are many opportunities to hike property or dip in the natural waterfall pools. The beach is approximately 2km west of our jungle home. The kitchen is fully equipped. Upstairs has a small loft which can serve as a sleeping area but also is the warmest spot in the house. We use it for the kids play space. The main living space is very spacious with a wrap around porch and kitchen seating 10 or more at the bar. There is 1.5 baths with a king and bunk room. The ground suite has a full bath and large area that can be used as the pool room or sleeping area for another family. There is also an outside shower (please shower off all sand before using the pool or entering the main living spaces). The pool is quaint- a great place to cool off or enjoy star gazing. Convenient hiking paths on premise including a private waterfall with petroglyphs. The home is excellent for those wanting modern conveniences while also wanting to feel connected to nature. This is a unique opportunity to get the real Costa Rican experience- not a typical gated western vacation home or resort. We have intentionally kept our home screen free and enjoy intimately learning about all the wildlife and fauna of the New World.
Guapil Estates is a rare ecological community with a limited number of households. Please conserve water and electricity when visiting. The community is nestled along the Path of the Tapir with primary and secondary rainforest. Guests will have the opportunity to see up close many of the typical Costa Rican wildlife. Guided tours with neighboring Hacienda Baru can be arranged in advance.
  • Beautiful place in the jungle. Sorry it didn't work out for us.

    Thomas2017-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our family of 4 really enjoyed staying at this jungle retreat! The house is really cute and perched right in the jungle. The layout worked well for us with a separate master bedroom for the parents and a kids bedroom with bunk beds for little ones. The kitchen was clean and easy to cook in while visiting with the family seated at the kitchen island. We ate most of our meals outside on the wraparound deck where we were entertained by toucans, pazotes, and even large lizards in the trees around the house. The host was very helpful with suggestions for local dining, shopping and activities. The new swimming pool was a perfect mid-day break from the nearby beaches, and we enjoyed walking around in the jungle exploring the local terrain. There was little to no cell coverage and we liked it that way! The road was formidable (steep) but became part of the daily adventure! Great place to get away from technology and get back to nature. We loved it!

  • The house is much better than it appears in the pictures. Much bigger. Much nicer. Much more luxury. Jungle is a superjungle. Definitely ine of the best places to stay in the world.

  • This hidden gem was perfect for our nature get-away. The house has great indoor and outdoor spaces. The kitchen is fully equipped. We were able to hike 3 different bubbling creek trails leading to breathtaking waterfalls and see coatis, sloths, white face monkeys, wild pigs and lots of toucans and other birds in just a few days. There is absolutely not signal so just plan to relax and enjoy nature. You will love this place!!!

  • This was our it at visit to Costa Rica and the location of this home cannot possibly be better!! It gave us the true jungle experience. We fell asleep and woke to the sights and sounds of nature. Absolutely glorious. The privacy of the home, plus the private waterfall were an added bonus.

  • Cool location and sufficient amenities. The host helped make my stay as comfortable as possible.

  • I had a wonderful experience staying at Danyasa. It's a beautiful, special place centrally located in Dominical near the beach and restaurants. I stayed two nights on a solo trip and I wish I had stayed longer. Brendan and the staff were great.

  • Staying at Danyasa was a wonderful treat! The ambiance is peaceful and welcoming. I took 3 yoga classes, best I've taken in years, with Maite and Nicole while staying Danyasa. Natashia was oh so warm and welcoming too! The yoga studio is beautiful and serene. It was lovely to hear the birds chirping and the warm breeze while practicing. The facilities are great! Loved the showering outdoors under the bamboo trees and palms. Excellent home away from home. I didn't want to leave. I will definitely be back :-)

  • Great place right in the middle of the small town of Dominical. Check-in was easy and the room was perfect for my needs. The AC was a plus too. I didn't utilize the common space but was impressed with the kitchen when being given the tour of the property. Would definitely be back next time I am in Dominical!

Buena experiencia

  • The staff at Danyasa are very nice. The place is cool and well located. The room is small but cosy and with a good a/c. Only thing, it's not super private as the room faces the only dining table so good chance you'll have people sitting and talking right in front of the room. If you are looking for something more secluded better look at another option.

  • Brendan's place has a great vibe... shipping containers were cool, lots of communal space in a shared living room / kitchen. The room is very small but pleasant. The only downside for me was some noise - during the day from the common area and dance classes and at night from the restaurant next door. It does not feel very secluded or private. But a lovely place nonetheless.

Known as "Cherepolandia" we are on the main street, up the river around 600m. Parking available, has 1 small dormitory refrigerator and one large refrig in the room. Electrical usage for the A/C is monitored and excess usage is charged to you directly. The property has 3 dwellings,,, that is 2 containers and an old Tico house. All have tenants, please respect others spaces and possessions. The property has some 30 different types of fruit and and edibles planted. Known as "Cherepolandia" by the locals, this community was established about 40 years ago by 3 brothers of the family Montoya. They became a band by the name Los Cherepos, and during the rainy season, when the river floods the road, they would carry out their instruments on their heads while walking through the water. Well, the Cherepo Lizard (the Jesus Lizard) runs across the water, and so became band name and the community name.
  • Nice place, quiet and calm. If you want to relax this place is perfect. Mark was really nice and friendly.

  • Thank you Mark! The container home was the perfect place to start our trip in Costa Rica. The walk from the home to town does take about fifteen minutes but it is a beautiful walk that we loved every time! Saw lots of wonderful wildlife and the walk felt very very safe. Two thumbs up!

    Michalea2015-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • sadly to say I had to go home before my stay at Mark's cargo container. I have stayed there before and was looking forward to more time spent lounging around and sharing stories with Mark. I am already planning my return.

  • What a great place to stay. Yes it is simple and basic but it has all you need if your needs are simple. Mark provided everything I needed to make my stay comfortable. Located right on the Baru river and short walk into Dominical. Beautiful setting. Really enjoyed conversations with Mark. He is really living the pura vida life. I am already planning my next trip back to Costa Rica and the container will for sure be on my list of places to stay again. Thanks for everything Mark.

  • This place is awesome. Simple and everything you need for a home base. Mark and Paola made us feel really welcome and at home. It so nice to wake up to a view of the river right there. Close enough to walk into town and there are a few good swimming holes a short walk away. I would definitely recommend staying here. I look forward to returning and visiting Mark and Paola, such amazing friendly people.

  • Thanks you lot Mark !! Simple Life !!! Y pura vida

    Joana2016-12-05T00:00:00Z
  • This spot was secluded yet close to everything in Dominical. While rustic there was everything that I needed. I had a car but Dominical and bus service is a 20 minute walk away, so you can do without. I particularly enjoyed telling friends and family that I was living in a shipping container in the jungle with a river view.

Six buildings interconnected by walkways and covered terraces totaling 18000 sq. ft under roof. The property is built on a ridge 100 ft above the Pacific Ocean. The walk to the beach is short and takes about 5 minutes. The apartment comes with a staff of three that live in casitas on the compound. Full access to main building, swimming pool and more !
  • Beautiful home with amazing views. Getting up the driveway is an experience but well worth it. We'll definitely be back.

  • This is a spectacular home to holiday in great for us as a couple and would also be amazing for groups of family & friends. The views are amazing and there are so many great places to relax and take it in. The pool is HUGE and very clean. There is a lovely kind housekeeper who gracefully keeps the house in top condition and Eddy the caretaker is easygoing and friendly. We loved our month long stay here & I especially enjoyed that there are was an ice maker in the freezer!

  • Felt like a rockstar in this amazing house! One of the best views ever, superb pool and super friendly staff! We enjoyed big time. We we're lucky the other appartements were amost free, so it was quit. Sometimes we even had the whole house (huge!) to ourselves. Could reconmend this place to everyone who had a car and don't want to be in the centre.

  • Walter's place was amazing, great location with awesome view of the ocean. Very clean with beautiful grounds, gardens and amenities! Only a couple of issues we did have. The tap water is not drinkable so after arriving at night there was no drinkable water supplied for us. Also the bathroom of the room we stayed in had no opening window or exhaust fan making it rather suffocating. For the money we payed for 2 nights in the room we stayed in we don't believe it was great value.

    Steve2017-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • No pictures can capture the pura vida that this place offers! Toucans flock to the fruit trees above every morning and announce the sunrise overlooking the pristine ocean below. Monkeys leap from the branches above the roof. The infinity pool defines a relaxing cool getaway. The kitchen and common areas are ideal for anything you could possibly need and the staff are graciously accommodating. This place has everything that is perfect about Costa Rica. We will definitely be back to enjoy this area again!
