Relive Retreat is a 700sqft, open concept, chalet-style cabin with high ceilings, full-length windows, natural spring water, private hot tub, fireplace, BBQ, breathtaking views, wrap around deck, hiking trails and more. Perfect for couples, friends or families looking to relax & rejuvenate in the presence of nature. Please note that nightly price includes HST Ontario tax (13%) which we now have to charge. Base price is $150/night and we can supply HST number for receipts if needed.
The cabin has 1 bedroom with a queen bed and a double fold out couch, which can comfortably sleep 4 people. We are dog friendly so please feel free to bring your furry friend. We have 2 dogs who live with us on the property (a big goldendoodle and a border collie). Cabin comes equipped with a fireplace and firewood for cool nights, full kitchen with additional coffee maker, soda stream, toaster, veggie/rice steamer and more. There is a natural spring on the property, which the water is pumped from. It is then UV filtered making every tap drinkable. Cabin runs on septic, fresh spring water (filtered), wood fireplace, as well as a propane heater to create an almost off-grid experience. We recycle, compost and conserve energy as much as possible, promoting a sustainable living experience. Wrap around deck on south and east sides makes for perfect outdoor enjoyment. Hot tub sits flush with the east deck with fantastic views across the valley. The 7 person hot tub has over 40 jets. Perfect for end of day after hiking with over 70 acres of property to explore. Please note that nightly pricing now includes Ontario HST tax (13%), incorporated into nightly fee. If you require a breakdown receipt outside of AirBNB receipt please ask on booking. Thank you! Also, please note that we are not an accessible cabin. There are 3 steps up to the main deck entry, no ramp or handrail. If you have any special needs please do contact us prior to booking and we can answer all your questions. Our property is one of a kind. On a clear morning from the living room you will witness some spectacular sunrises. In the evening you can enjoy the ambiance of the sun setting or head up the road a few minutes to watch the sunset completely. The cabin sits at the top of a hill, up the driveway from our primary residence (another small cabin). The hill is perfect for keeping the mosquitos away with a continuous breeze. There are 3 reforested areas, lots of old forest, a meandering meadow, hills, wetlands, apple trees, the Saugeen River, streams and a natural spring. Wildlife includes tons of deer, rabbit, birds, wild turkeys and the occasional spotting (or hear them howl) of coyotes and wolf. The valley of the property echoes so they do sound close sometimes even though they are a distance away. We have two dogs that live on the property with us. One is a big golden doodle that will fall in love with you if you have treats. He is a sweetheart. The other is a border collie, super smart. Be warned, if you start to play frisbee or ball with her she will not let you stop ;-) We also live on the property but do not bother our guests unless there is something you will need.
We are located in Priceville, Ontario, one of the highest points in Ontario, part of the Grey Highlands. We are 10min west of historic and artful Flesherton off Grey Rd 4. Another 5min away is Eugenia Falls and Eugenia Lake. 10min west of us is Durham, which has beautiful McGowan Falls with lots of walking trails, Garafraxa coffee theater and the Durham Art Gallery. Many options for food, art, entertainment and outdoor recreation in the area.
  • My spouse and I rented out the place as a wedding present to a couple of our friends. We just wanted a place with a little bit of light hiking, a hot tub, and a nice atmosphere. This place was just about perfect, although that is partially because the weather was perfect: blue and sunny for the day we went hiking and hit the hot tub; beautiful torrential rains when we stayed inside. The hosts were absolutely lovely... and their owners were very nice as well (the joke is that we really loved their dogs. Bad joke, but I felt it necessary. My subsequent good mood from the trip made it seem like a good idea). The one issue (which was immediately resolved) was their drip coffee maker took about an hour to make burnt coffee. But, they gave us another antiquey coffee maker when we told them about it which made great coffee the next day. They also obviously have been either doing this whole airbnb thing a while or are just fabulous hosts. Everything we wanted was there to make everything better. For example, they had frozen sippy cups for the hot tub. Small thing, but very nice. They also gave us some sparkling pear cider and snacks upon arrival. They also had natural citronella bug spray in case we forgot... which we had. The hiking was nice, but we didn't really go to any of the major trails. The rain was forecast, so we didn't wanna get caught in it. Hence, I can't speak to the hiking that we didn't do. But what we did was nice enough. There was a nice creek and a nice view. Good enough. Flusherton was nearby enough to drive to in about 10 minutes and the towns folk (hopefully that doesn't sound condescending from a Torontonian) were all extremely nice. We ate at a lovely small restaurant 'The Bicycle Cafe' where the waitress was truly charming. If it's not apparent, it was an absolutely great time. Will almost definitely go again when the black fly season dies down.

  • Milena emailed us before our arrival giving us all the pertinent information re: our stay including phone #s where she and/or her husband could be reached if necessary. As it turned out, that was a godsend!! When we arrived @ 5:30 p.m., there was no running water. We contacted her and although she wasn't home at the time she offered to come asap to address our predicament. However we had plans to go out for the evening and agreed to convene with her the next day. In the morning, there was a trickle but not near enough water pressure to take a shower, wash dishes, etc and no hot water at all. Suffice it to say, Milena was as concerned as us and did everything she could to rectify the situation willing to call a plumber who may or may not have fixed the problem that night. We were leaving in the morning so opted for privacy. Milena discounted our stay by one night's lodging which we considered to be fair and commendable on her part!

  • Had a really great time with a cozy atmosphere, few little quirks with the place but will definitely be going back for another relaxing weekend. No real issues and had plenty of privacy. Recommend stopping and checking out the local trails

  • Great visit. Here is what we absolutely loved: -hot tub at night, private, full moon, quiet, hot enough, option for las vegas lighting effect was choice. -telescope for full moon viewing (and mars!). -good choice of dvds. -big roomy shower, stone, nook for shampoo and soap. -clothes dry fast out on the deck. -huge grassy area with a small playset for kids. -amazing views. AMAZING. -stocked with salt/pepper/olive oil/teas/ etc. -amazing light / all around windows. -deck was fully enclosed for our little girl to explore (2 1/2). -lots of comforters and blankets and towels. -soda stream was nice to have, as were the icy mugs in the freezer (esp for the hot tub negronis). -hosts fully let us go undisturbed (which was nice!) yet they were available and around. -everything worked. -The owners were great about their 2 dogs and very responsive when we requested the dogs not meet our daughter. Since she is young, we aren't yet confident to gauge how she is with dogs - but when she's older it would likely be fine. -fireplace was great / nights were still cool on the May long weekend. -trails were fun, and not so long that we got overwhelmed by bugs -new yurt on the property looked cool -extra mattress in the cottage if needed (we did use this) Here's what would have made things simply over the top wonderful: -matches handy. -a main bed that was a bit more firm and didn't roll on it's casters at all. We preferred the mattress (ikea) on the floor instead. It was actually nice, bc we could hang out on it at night watching a movie. -cushions on the lounge chairs (we used comforters rolled up as we couldn't find cushions anywhere). -to know that the super big orange couch had been replaced (was looking fwd to that extra 70s vibe) although the new couch is perfectly fine and comfortable. -a floor lamp or two for reading. -blinds that fit the bedroom window completely, or blinds on the main windows (although this can be remedied with a shirt over the face). To be fair, they would need a LOT of blinds with all those windows, and the view is stellar. Overall, this was an 8/10 or 9/10 stay. Would definitely go back, and are looking forward to winter when we can get out skiing. There are nearby restaurants as well (Flying Chestnut, Flying Spatula) if you want a night out. We were happy to be hermits and soak in the country air. Thanks Milena + Johnny! We will be back for another couples' weekend!

  • This place is a little slice of heaven. Thank you just doesn't seem to cover our gratitude for Milena and Johnny. From the very beginning they were so pleasant and friendly to speak to. We are getting married in September and a weekend out of the city to reconnect was exactly what we needed. Milena and Johnny were nice enough to let us invite our photographer up to take our engagement photos in the snow. Milena showed me some of the best places to take some shots - the sneak peak we've seen so far is stunning!! The pictures do not do this place justice. The cabin is so cute and it had everything we needed and more. The hot tub was AWESOME! It was so nice to relax in there after a day out playing in the snow. And the stars - I've never seen anything like that before! We brought our dog up who played well with Milena and Johnny's two dogs. They all got along so well that Sunday morning their two dogs came up to the cabin to see if our pooch could come out to play. So adorable! The only negative was that I wish we spent more time there. We'll be back!

  • We loved how clean the cabin was when we arrived and how all the little things had been thought of including the extras like a fondue set! The wood fire is an excellent alternative to other heating sources. Provided was ample supply of firewood and kindling to get it started. Our little dog quite enjoyed all the exciting smells and greeting the resident dogs when then came up to the cabin to meet us and sniff around. Our expectations were surpassed in regards to the view, privacy, cleanliness, comfort and hospitality. Thank you Milena and Johnny it was wonderful meeting you both and we look forward to returning!

  • The stay was everything we hoped for & more. Upon arrival everything was very clean and ready for our stay. Very secluded and quiet, the private pool & Hot Tub were fantastic! Got to enjoy the surroundings with the trails & lovely Spring in the valley. Wonderful experience & would definitely return...

    M2016-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin was quaint and secluded. The cabin has everything you need for a short getaway and even lots of interesting old knick knacks to peruse. The hosts were very welcoming and answered my phone call when we got a little lost when arriving in the dark. Unfortunately, we got snowed it so were not able to visit the neighbourhood or explore the property. We spent our time watching movies, cooking, playing board games, and enjoying the hot tub in the snowfall.

Our Circa 1879 country guest home is located about 10 - 15 minutes from the Beaver Valley Ski Resort, 7 minutes from Flesherton and 10 minutes from Markdale. Though it is a two bedroom home, it is a grand and spacious house with large rooms, high ceilings and incredible natural light through many windows overlooking the gardens, grounds and Saugeen River. With numerous creative sleeping arrangements this home would be comfortable for a couple right up to a large extended family gathering.
The romantic master bedroom (sleeps 2) has one double bed, while the "kids' room" (sleeps 4) has two beautiful day beds with extra long mattresses and roll out twin size trundle units as well as a desk, chair and spacious closet. All mattresses are new within a year or two. There is an additional pull-out loveseat on the spacious upstairs landing, another in the three-season sunroom and a queen sized sofa bed in the living room. The VanDolder's kitchen is a cook's dream with generous counter space, Elmira gas stove (modern reproduction), custom cabinetry and mill work camouflaging a pull-out drawer dishwasher. The historic home is furnished largely with antiques making it true to period with all the modern conveniences and luxuries. The entrance is into a grand foyer/ mud room with ample space for winter gear and skiis even for large groups. The washroom and laundry room are directly off the mud room. The livingroom has a small television, wood-burning stove and queen sized sofa bed. The dining room table seats 6 - 8 (with leaves inserted).

  • This was our second time staying here...within the span of a month! Which should be strong testimony to how great this place is. Because there are so many great airbnb spots to try out we've never stayed at the same one twice, until now. Read our previous review below. It's so cozy and secluded here, surrounded by nature and countryside. You won't want to leave the house once you've arrived, but if do, we recommend eating at The Barhead Pub, a little country pub about a 15 min drive away, very relaxed and cozy atmosphere, and tables with a view of the creek, plus local food. We've eaten there 4 times now. Thank you Susan for your kindness!

  • The host made our stay very easy and enjoyable by walking us through the check in process and providing us with directions. The property was clean and well kept. Clear instructions were given in regards to taking out the garbage and other important household matters. I would recommend this property for future guests!

  • Susan's home is a lovely place to stay if ever visiting the area. The house was very clean for our arrival and the host was very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely recommend Grey Getaway and stay here again in the future.

  • This property is all that is described. Country charm with modern amenities. Place is clean, recently built and the photos give you a good idea of the place without giving it justice. We enjoyed walking the grounds of the property with our kids (3 to 6 years old), watching the fire at night and lavish meals in the gourmet kitchen. Withing 2 hours of the GTA and easily accessible, this place is a nice getaway for the weekend. Your host, Susan, was responsive and quick to answer any questions or anything required. She provided all the info needed, answer txts for specifics things quickly and made us feel at home. We got to cross pathes briefly at the end of our stay and she was very welcoming. Looking forward to more time on the Saugeen.

  • Last week we had the pleasure of spending a relaxing few days at this beautiful cottage. The location is perfect for long walks as the property has both forest and river areas to explore. I found the kitchen very well stocked and the stove was a dream to cook on. The best feature is the lovely fireplace that we spent most of our time enjoying with glasses of wine and an abundance of cheese. I highly recommend this cozy getaway for a romantic escape or a lively girls retreat. Thanks Sue! Olwyne M

  • Susan is an amazing host. She made sure my family and I had all we needed for a comfortable stay. She even provided gates for the kids. Susan's place looks even better in real life and is very clean. I would definitely be staying here again and do recommend this cottage to all that are looking for a secluded relaxing gateway. Her property is huge and has great hiking trails along with a river. Just picture perfect.

  • We had a lovely time at Susan's property. The house is beautiful, fully equipped and well thought out. We spent our evenings reading in front of the fireplace. The property itself is vast and beautiful as well with a nice walk along the river's edge and through the trees. Susan was responsive and kind and provided us with the best possible experience. We look forward to staying there again soon!

  • Susan's cottage was beautiful, spacious, and very cozy. My friends and I had an amazing time. Great getaway location from the busy city life. Susan herself was extremely easy to communicate with and was very quick to reply to any questions or concerns. Instructions were very straight forward and easy to follow as well. 5 Stars!

  • This cottage is perfect for family vacations - the lake is shallow and can be waded into. There is also a floating doc mid-lake that is safe for children to jump off from. The adults enjoyed the rocking chairs, deck chairs, movies and scenery provided. Congratulations on a great property Peter!

  • This cottage and it's spot on the lake are absolutely beautiful! The house was wonderful with a spacious, well stocked kitchen, closets stocked with extra blankets and games for the family, a sauna, and a living room that looked out right onto the beautiful lake. Situated on one end of this quiet lake with a nice deck and dock, we had use of the paddle boat, canoe, kayak, windsurf board, and enough life jackets for everyone so we didn't have to travel with our own. Peter was so kind and hospitable! At one point in our stay there was a problem with the toilet, and Peter was very attentive in getting the problem solved and was so easy to work with. I recommend this place highly and would definitely like to return!

This welcoming and eclectic loft space looking down on the busy village of Flesherton has been lovingly refurbished and is fully equipped. A perfect getaway for couples or families or an inspiring space for an artist or writer's retreat. Browse in the local shops or galleries or enjoy the area's many culinary offerings. Discover the great outdoors and beautiful geography of the Beaver Valley--ski, hike, fish/boat, swim or cycle. Or simply relax.
Please note that the Loft is located on the third floor of the building and is accessed by stairs.
Flesherton is known for its art galleries, shops and eating establishments most within walking distance of the Loft. There are hiking trails and a swimming pond in the village and much to do and see in the surrounding area of the Municipality of Grey Highlands.
  • The loft is located right in the heart of Flesherton (which to be fair is very small - in a good way). Lots of space inside that exceeded our expectations. The loft is quite clean and organized. Amenities are well stocked. The entrance is located to the left of the postal office parking (back of the bicycle cafe)so it can be a little difficult to find. If WiFi is a concern while there are no networks for the loft itself the surrounding area has a few to connect to. I would definitely return back when I venture up near Grey County again! :)

  • My boyfriend and I were totally blown away by the loft! Its cleanliness, and undeniable style were impressive. The pictures really don't do it justice. We had breakfast on the terrasse; just magical. The kitchen is fully equipped and spacious. We watched E.T. on VHS on a 15" TV and that brought back some memories. The book collection was also appreciated. Beware if you are a light sleeper! It is at the intersection of two very busy streets. We sleep like logs so it didn't bother us. Perfect for a weekend getaway with friends! I highly recommend.

  • We absolutely loved the Pharmacy Loft! The place definitely has a lot of character and was actually bigger and much more charming than I expected. The pictures definitely don't do it justice. It was very clean and everything we could possibly need was there. There's a cute cafe with great coffee and food just downstairs, a bakery just a couple steps further, a 24 hour Foodland a short drive away, great hiking in the area too. The bruce trail and a Eugenia Falls are less than a 10 minute drive away. Ann made the checkin and checkout process very easy. She met us at the loft and showed us where we could find anything we might need. She left us a great list of restaurant suggestions. Prior to getting to Flesherton, Ann was very quick to reply to messages and made sure we were had all the info we needed. I would definitely stay at the Pharmacy Loft again!

  • Mark and Marie's place is very unique and beautiful. We have a great time staying at their nice vintage home which is very clean and comfy. We were welcomed with Marie's coffee once we arrived and Mark has shared an interesting history of the manor. It was a short stay for us because we have to catch the ferry at Tobermory, but we enjoy every moment at Mark & Marie's place. I must also mention Marie's freshly baked yummy muffins for breakfast, this will be one of the reasons I will return for another stay. Thankful for Mark and Marie's hospitality. We will recommend this place if you are looking for a nice place to stay.

  • The Markdale Manor is truly a wonderful property. It had been painstakingly restored with high attention to detail. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The hosts Mark, Marie and Temple were very accommodating and generous. We have stayed in many Airbnb properties before and I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in the area.

  • Mark and Marie's home is central to the town of Markdale - a quiet town, not too far from Blue Mountain. We were looking to getaway for a short period to unwind and relax, which is exactly what we got out of our stay here. The room was exactly as pictured and the home was clean and beautiful. Each morning, a great breakfast spread was provided. Both Mark & Marie were very welcoming and easy to communicate with. We would come back in a heartbeat and would definitely recommend their home to friends and family.

  • Temple was a wonderful host and we had a great time. She was very nice and made sure that we were comfortable and provided every utility required. The house was great, it was very clean including rooms, washrooms, the only thing we wished for was if we had more time to stay and enjoy the house. Thank you for being a wonderful host and if i plan a vacation next time in that area I will definitely stay with temple. Thanks, Vin

Eugenia place is close to great views, Lake Eugenia, Eugenia Falls, Hiking, Talisman, Beaver Valley Ski Club, and much more. You are also only 30 mins from Blue Mountain, Scandinavia Spa, the Scenic Caves, and the beautiful Georgian Bay. You’ll love my place because of the privacy and all the amazing activities that surround you. My place is good for everyone, including your beloved furry friends. I live upstairs to the apartment but your entrance is completely private. You won't want to leave!
The apartment is located in the basement of my house but it is extremely bright and comfortable. The basement has been newly renovated so it has a nice, new charm to it. I do not offer a full kitchen but you can expect to get the same or more amenities than a hotel. You will have a mini fridge, microwave, barbecue - propane provided (barbecue available between April and October), toaster oven, crockpot, coffee/tea maker, mugs, glasses, dishes, utensils, wine glasses, bottle and wine bottle opener, and a lighter. You will also be provided with a daily supply of tea and coffee. You can enjoy the wood stove on those cold winter nights or the outdoor fire pit in the summer. I have a huge backyard that backs on to a ravine to the Beaver Valley river. So enjoy the space as you wish. Heat is adjusted by me upstairs but there is a space heater and woodstove if you would like it warmer and a fan if you would like it cooler. If you would prefer a day to relax inside, there is a TV and basic cable. I have also left you with a variety of board games and books for your entertainment as well.
Eugenia house is walking distance to hiking trails, Eugenia Falls, Eugenia Lake, a small park, and a giant convenient store that has an LCBO and also offers delicious homemade pizza and other great local products and food. There is also a few other places to eat within walking distance. There is the Emporium, Brilliant (a bread and cheese shop), a chip wagon (open summers only) and a restaurant, with great reviews, called the Flying Chestnut. The house is also seconds away from popular snowmobiling and ATVing trails.

  • We would like to thank Sharon and Paul for their warm welcome and generosity. We enjoyed our stay very much and appreciated all the things they did for us. We had a great time and our family will keep wonderful memories of our trip to Ontario. The house is cosy, clean and well decorated. All you need to feel at home. Don't hesitate to stay at Sharon and Paul's house.

  • Sharon and Paul were very nice ! What we liked the most is how clean the space was, its also very cozy and perfect for kids. They have some good books and movies for adults and kids. The smaller ones loved the little park they have out in the backyard and enjoyed that very much! Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would likely want to go back. We only had one minor complaint... since it is a basement, you can hear absolutely everything from upstairs. From walking to flushing. Could be annoying if trying to sleep in! Otherwise everything was great!

  • Really enjoyed our stay here at Flesherton. The host was very accommodating to our requests. The place had everything, fire pit with wood, lawn chairs, picnic table, playground for kids, kayaks with life-jackets, BBQ, tons of towels, laundry, and full set of quality kitchenware (from plates, cups, to pots and pans). We had a blast enjoying the peace and quiet and paddled on the lake which is just a short walk away. Highly recommended, and would come back again.

  • We loved our stay here. We were in the area for an event at nearby Blue Mountain and really just needed a place to sleep. Sharon's place provided that and much more! We saved a lot of money by being able to prepare our own food in our own private kitchen and appreciated the company when we around the house.

  • This little cottage was so cute and was very well located. We came in from Montreal, and were charmed right away. After kayaking den Beaver river, this quaint little chalet had absolutely everything we needed to cook, have a fire, and even watch a movie on Netflix (bring your laptop, there is a HDMI wire).

  • Wonderful place to stay! Adorable little cottage with ample space for the four adults in our family. Only a short walk to the lake, hiking at the Bruce trail, local restaurants and convenience stores, and only a short drive away from Collingwood and other larger cities. The door was left open to us at check-in, with the key and a manual on the coffee table, and Kim stayed in touch throughout the entire stay; responding within an hour. The cottage was very clean and nicely decorated, but still maintained that cabin-y feel :) Thanks Kim!!

  • Great location! Literally a 2 minute walk to the lake! Incredible kayaking on the lake and the Beaver river! This Lovely cottage is well equipped with everything you need! It's definitely a 'Home away from Home.' It was very clean and the energy was warm and inviting. Kim was a fantastic host! She is kind and generous and was very prompt to answer any inquiries we had. Be sure to visit the Bakery; the bread is amazing and the Emporium next door offers vegan options and delicious fudge! The owners of both are extremely warm and friendly. The landscape in Eugenia is beautiful and the cottage location is perfect to enjoy the many attractions in the surrounding area. The only 'negative' about this haven was leaving...

  • My husband and I had our wedding anniversary in the area a few years ago. We fell in love with the area and always wanted to bring our children (8yr old daughter and 5 yr old son). The cottage was even prettier than pictured. It was quaint and very clean. It had a lot if the luxuries of home, but still had the cottage feel. It was very roomy for our family. My kids loved running around on the large lot. The lot has a lot of trees and tall bushes, which allowed for privacy. My kids loved that the lake was a 2 minute walk away. The water is shallow and marked off, which was perfect for us. It is rocky but luckily we had water shoes. We did a lot of swimming and canoeing. It was nice that Kim allowed us to use her canoe, lifejackets, and water toys. There is so much to do and our location was very central. A tour of all the waterfalls is a must. Top of the Rock has everything you would need if you forget something. Kim was always prompt with answering my messages and answering questions. Her sister greeted us on our first day. Our family had an amazing time and made made a lot of great memories. It was hard to leave and I even got a little teary, but I'm a softie. Lol. Thanks to Kim for making making our making our first Airbnb exp erience a rememborable one!!!

We have a small townhouse on the edge of town. There is a small bedroom with Double bed, which has a TV with cable, and a bathroom on the same floor for guests to use, with a tub and shower. There is also the use of the living room with a large TV. We do have a small pug dog and a cat. Coffee and tea is available if required.

This property is situated on the banks of the Saugeen River in the town of Durham. Guests will have full use of the 1 1/2 story bungalow, landscaped lot and private beach area. A short stroll up the street takes you to McGowan's Falls and access to the Durham Conservation Area, with its public beaches and hiking trails. The Durham Art Gallery is a stone's throw away, as are public tennis and basketball courts.
The house is quite bright and well-maintained. The kitchen, three bedrooms, bathroom and dining/living room are all located on the main floor. Downstairs, guests will find a games room, a family room and a second bathroom. Access to the garage is restricted. The kitchen contains a fridge, stove and dishwasher and is stocked with the usual cookware including plates, cutlery and (perhaps most importantly) a coffee maker. There is usually a bottle or two of wine kicking around. There is also a gas barbecue right outside the kitchen door. The yard and deck areas are very private and the many mature trees on the property offer visitors lots of shade.
George Street is a quiet residential street which runs along the Saugeen River. A short walk eastward takes you to the upper dam and the nearby basketball and tennis courts. Downtown is certainly walking distance (most things in Durham are) and our guests have consistently remarked upon how friendly the town is.
  • Our family had a great time at Dan's home. It was well stocked with everything you need and more. We especially liked that we were allowed to bring our two small dogs. Highly recommended.

  • Heron’s Perch deserves every one of the five star reviews that it has received. We had a terrific stay and would go back in a heartbeat! We highly recommend this beautiful home and the super responsive hosts. This warm and welcoming home has everything you could ask for – and much more. It is located in an idyllic setting on the serene and picturesque Saugeen river. The home is lovingly furnished with a beautiful view of the river from the living room, deck and backyard. It has lots of activities/games to keep you busy - not that you’ll have much time! A short walk takes you to McGowan falls and the nearby conservation area. Stand on the bridge above the falls and treat yourself to an absolutely stunning view of the Saugeen River or enjoy roasting marshmallows in the fire pit at nights There’s lots to do in the area – tubing, tennis, nature walks. The home is also a perfect base from which to visit the lovely towns and beaches of Port Elgin and Southampton. My husband and I visited with our two daughters (15 and 21) and our Golden Retriever and we all absolutely loved it. Dan was a great host. He responded promptly to all queries, greeted us upon arrival and was available for any questions that we had. Thanks again for a wonderful stay. We look forward to visiting again!

    Suzanne2017-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! We used the house for a weekend away and enjoyed spending our morning coffee and evenings on the dock. We took turns using the kayak and the paddleboat. We walked to the falls and conservation area daily. We ate a couple of meals on the deck outside and when it rained on Saturday we took advantage of the dining room. Downstairs was a game room with air hockey, shuffleboard, and foosball! We didn't get a chance to shoot hoops in the backyard, but I loved that it was there for us. The yard was big enough to play catch before settling in for a fire at night! The house is in a great location. You can walk into town, walk to the conservation area, and walk to the tennis courts. With 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms there is plenty of space for a family. We have already discussed making this an annual trip in the summer, but I would love to return in the fall when the leaves are changing colours. The views from the dock would be spectacular!

  • My husband, myself and our 2 young sons stayed at Carrie and Dan's place for the weekend. Everything was just as described and they were just a phone call away if we needed anything. We had a blast playing in the backyard and in the river during the day and having a campfire at night. The beds were comfortable and the house had everything we could possibly need.

  • Lovely view of the water and a great location for sightseeing in the area as it is easy driving distance to Kincardine, Owen Sound, Collingwood etc. Very warm welcome from Dan and the house had everything we needed in the way of supplies.

  • We were a family of five adults looking to get away for the weekend. This place fit the bill perfectly allowing us to also bring our dog. Dan was very welcoming upon our arrival and gave us a tour of the property and home. The property is big/spacious and peaceful with lots of green space for games and equipped with absolutely everything we needed to enjoy both relaxing and being active. The home is clean and comfortable with a ton of amenities including wifi and satellite tv if you happen to have rainy days. Tons of awesome games too! Dan provided firewood for our nightly fires and we loved every minute. You can walk into town to get ice cream or pick up anything you forgot at the Foodland down the street. Also there is a Tim Hortons which was convenient. Beds were comfortable and big. Booking and cancellation policies are excellent allowIng for last minute changes. Was also pleased that we didn't have to book an entire week at a time. We recommend Dan and Carrie's place and will definitely return next year.

This apartment was created as an artist studio in a funky and unique historical building. You’ll love the open, spacious feeling. The kitchenette and sitting areas in the photos are all private for guests. (We live in another part of the building.) You can swim in the Saugeen River in our backyard, cross country ski in the neighbouring park or enjoy our community tennis courts. A gas fireplace and Wifi make staying indoors fun, too.
You have a big and spacious studio-like space in a former agricultural feed mill. There is a kitchenette with a small fridge, single burner, toaster, coffee maker, and toaster oven. (Feel free to use the barbecue.) Bright bedroom, and bathroom with shower.
Durham has a health food store and cafe (Chicory Common), a licensed night spot with live music most weekends (The Garafraxa), a public art gallery across the street (Durham Art Gallery) plus grocery store, LCBO, etc. We are just across the bridge from the conservation area with camping, walking trails and cross country skiing. Public tennis courts and the McGowan waterfall are just down the street.
  • Gorgeous open concept space with a beautiful property and access to a dock in the backyard that looks over the river - plus use of a canoe! Beach and waterfalls within 5 minute walk and a fire pit in the backyard stocked with wood. Grocery store and LCBO nearby, what more could you need? Kitchenette was stocked with everything you need to prep your own meals, there are places to eat within walking distance as well. Every little detail was considered by our hosts Geoffrey and Ilse- from extra blankets and a fan to the fresh flowers and chocolates in the room! Ilse lent us a pair of water shoes and even brought us a delicious dessert one evening! Great hosts and a one-of-a-kind space with lots of privacy. A great romantic long weekend getaway! We will be back for sure.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay in the Mill. Geoffrey and Ilse are both very friendly and welcoming hosts. The mill is a very cool building, and the appartement has lots of art, is well equiped, superclean and has a very comfortable bed. We loved the tour trough the art gallery and mill, and in the Area - the bicycle café and hiking part of the Bruce trail. Highly recommended!

  • My partner and I really enjoyed staying at the Historic Knechtel Mill, the apartment was spacious and well equipped. The high ceilings and exposed beams were beautiful. We enjoyed the art gallery, the short walk into town and exploring the walkways by the river. Geoffrey and his wife were extremely welcoming, and they even gave us a tour of their own property.

    Theresa2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful location and a lovely living space. Quiet and serene with a perfect touch of character! Also included creature comforts of home, which were a great surprise! Would definitely go back again.

  • Elsa was a our gracious host and made us feel very welcome and provided anything we needed eg. sugar for our coffee. The kitchen was basic but had everything we needed and the location was close to downtown and the trails of the conservation park.

  • We had such an excellent stay at the Mill! It is such a picturesque location, and Geoffrey and Ilse were fantastic hosts. They even dropped off some children's books for our daughter! The town of Hanover is a beautiful town too. Great location to stay and explore Grey Bruce county.

  • My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the mill. We wish we could have stayed longer but had a busy week, so we would definitely love to come back! Ilse and Geoffrey were great hosts. They were very friendly, warm and welcoming and gave us lots of great advice about local attractions and Ilse even took us for a tour of the art gallery across the street. The mill was spacious, clean, bright and very cool inside. The area outside the mill was very relaxing with the river and trails and a bridge right in the backyard. Ilse and Geoffrey went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. We definitely recommend staying and hope to come back soon!

"Jest-Arts" is a storefront studio in the wee town of Durham, ON. We sometimes host improv comedy workshops, or a book launch or a painting exhibition. The guest apartment is behind and has its own entrance from the back or front. The conservation park across the street has a beach for swimming in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter. Behind the building is a park by the Saugeen river and free parking.
Durham is an artistic town: paint supply store (Colour Jar) ; contemporary art gallery (Durham Art Gallery); and a cafe with live music (The Garafraxa). It is also "nestled in nature", the town motto, as there is a conservation area in town: great swimming in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter. The Saugeen river runs through it and makes a pretty waterfall at McGowan Falls.
  • My stay at Jenny and Steve's was just wonderful, I enjoyed it immensely. To start, I was kind of in a bind and needed a place to stay on short notice. Jenny and Steve were so accommodating and very kind to let me stay at their oasis even though they were going out of town for the holidays. The place was so private yet fun. On my last night my sister joined me and found it to be a gem. She commented that she would like to book the room sometime in the future when visiting family. It was a relief to stay in the area close to family yet gave me my privacy. This place is definitely a place to stay if you are in the area. Laurie

  • This by far has been the most unique place we have booked. It has "eclectic" decor with high ceilings. It isn't for anyone who is looking for perfection but it is for those who enjoy the beauty in uniqueness. There are wooden steps that take you to the back lot and then in a few steps you have the beauty of a small wooded area and a river. There is also a public gazebo to enjoy just a few metres away. Jenny is a cheerful great host.

  • A very cool and very large space that delivers the funky vibe in spades. Jenny was a great help and resource for information. Lots of great art books to pour through to while away a late evening. Full kitchen. Two bathrooms.

  • Jenny and Steve were amazing hosts! Extremely responsive, helpful and flexible, and so nice. Check in and check out was so easy and smooth. The place is definitely a unique experience, but the location is awesome and close to so many amenities. It reminded me of my beloved East Village apartment. :-)

  • We had a great stay in Jenny's loft space. Such a cool and artistic style, very spacious while offering all the amenities for a comfortable stay. The village of Durham is quaint and picturesque. We enjoyed meals at some local cafes, nice walks by the river and visited some art galleries in the area. Jenny was very accommodating and we had a seamless check-in/check-out. I would return in the future and highly recommend this space.

This family friendly house sits next to mine within 90 acres of forest . With trails throughout you can hike in its natural setting and perhaps glimpse some of the wildlife that make their homes here too. Enjoy the tranquility of this secluded setting and unwind from your busy life. Children can have fun outdoors too and all trails join to lead you safely home! Conditions permitting you can enjoy an evening bonfire in the backyard . Check first in case fire restrictions are in force.
The house itself has 3 separate bedrooms, a large living room, separate dining room with table and chairs for 8 guests. The kitchen has everything needed to prepare your meals. The balcony overlooks the valley and the woods below. A firepit with firewood provided is available when conditions permit. This house sits amidst a managed forest planted nearly 50 years ago with 36,000 trees. Since then I have planted at least 5000 more to add diversity. The large and varied network of groomed trails meander through our private 90 acres. Hike, snowshoe or ski through the large maple stand, the mostly pine woods and around the large natural pond. A paddock and barn near the pond were once home to horses but now provide open meadow for birds and animals.
This is farm country. My property was once a not very productive farm until a forester decided it would grow better trees! But exploring back roads to view this agricultural area is still fascinating. Watch for Amish and Old Order Mennonite horses and buggies and notice their well maintained farms as well as the large modern farms. Lots of us are retirees and you may enjoy a chat in the local small restaurants or the Mennonite restaurant in nearby Varney. The Durham conservation area is close by while Allen Park conservation area is ten minutes away.. For summer visitors a number of local rivers are stocked and provide excellent fishing. My large natural pond is not suitable for swimming but there is supervised swimming in the river in town or I can direct you to beaches on Lake Huron. If children bring their own tackle and a responsible adult remains with them they can have fun catching bass in my pond (catch & release - not for eating).
  • Elizabeth was an excellent host and her farm house was perfect for our weekend away. She was friendly and helpful and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The home is very clean and has all of the amenities you need. The property has great walking trails amongst tall trees, perfect for cross country skiing (or snowshoeing as we did). I would highly recommend Elizabeth's place to anyone who wants a quiet retreat in a pretty, peaceful setting.

  • We loved staying at this place. The house is huge and very clean. You can access very beautiful trails and falls with a 10-20 minute drive. Elizabeth is very kind and helpful and we enjoyed her exceptional hospitality.

  • This is a lovely place in the middle of nature. The house is very clean and well kept. There is so much space inside and out. Great for families or couples. Time can be spent at the house or a short trip can be made to other spots. Elizabeth is such a lovely host. We will be returning.

  • We stayed at Elizabeth's cottage at the end of February 2017... although there was almost no snow left we loved the forest trails and the location of the cottage. Elizabeth kindly arranged a tour at a Mennonite farm for us where we tasted different kind of Maple syrups, petted ponies (!!!) and went on a buggy ride! She also recommended an amazing Mennonite restaurant for dinner nearby - Pebbles (which exceeded our expectations!). The cottage was very cozy...we enjoyed the real wood fire place in the living room (don't see them often in Toronto nowadays:)! Elizabeth was very responsive and very helpful. We are definitely coming back! Cheers, Olga, Gary, Marina and Sasha

  • We had a wonderful time at Elizabeth's lovely place. The setting is very private - beautiful trees, lots of nature - but is also 2 km from a small town that offers everything you might need. Cell phone service was excellent and the place is now set up with Internet. It was very roomy and nicely decorated. We loved the wood burning fireplace - relaxing and cozy. One of the highlights was the kitchen - it is well stocked and Elizabeth provided everything that you would need for breakfast including eggs, homemade bread and granola, fruit, milk and juice. Bedding was lovely (what a comfy bed) and there were lots of towels. Elizabeth was a great host - checked us in and was available if we needed her. She made us feel very welcome and it was a pleasure meeting her. We plan to be back!

  • We had such a lovely stay!!!! Elizabeth was super! Everything was so well stocked for our breakfasts and of course this included her delicious homemade bread. Great selection from cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, fresh eggs, milk and juice and of course coffee and tea. The cottage was very clean and the beds were so comfy cozy. We enjoyed the trails and also the afternoon and evening campfires. The cottage feels secluded, but it is not far from town. If we needed anything, we were assured not to hesitate to ask. This cottage is ideal ANYTIME of year...the snow covered trails were so much fun and seeing the tracks in the snow from the area wildlife was a delight. Coming back to the cottage to sit in front of the fabulous fireplace was one of the highlights. Regardless of your age, there is something for everyone here. We are already thinking about our next stay! Thanks Elizabeth!

Lothbroek is nestled in cozy hills among farms and natural bush. The views are lovely from every window, overlooking a salt water pool, perennial garden, fields and bush. Private trails twist through 100 acres of mixed forest past ponds and a river; with abundant deer and other wildlife. Explore a winter wonderland before cozying up by the fire with a warm cup of local cider or a home-brewed gourmet coffee. Beaver Valley 30 min, Blue Mountain 40 min, beaches 10 min, shops 10 min.
Large rooms in the original 1903 farmhouse with hardwood floors, high ceilings and large bright modern windows give the house a light airy feeling and help keep you connected with the outdoors even when inside. The recent addition doubled the living space while keeping the original feel of the house. It also modernized the services in the house. In a move towards sustainability, the house is heated and cooled using a geothermal system. The kitchen boasts luxury Miele appliances including a steam oven, two regular ovens, a built in whole bean coffee maker, dishwasher, hob and two large fridge/freezer combinations. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, cutlery, basic kitchen tools for cooking and baking and several small appliances - toaster, mixer, hand blender, kettle, mini food chopper. Furniture is being updated, and additional photos showing the new furnishings will be available in February. All mattresses, pillows, bath towels and bed linens were new at 10 December 2016. Playing cards and a selection of board games and novels are available. Toboggans are provided in the gardening shed. Firewood may be available for purchase (in the gardening shed) subject to availability. The property is rural so the internet is satellite based. The fastest download speed available is 10 Mbps and severe weather may impact download speeds and availability.
Located in Southwestern Ontario, West Grey is the largest municipality in the County of Grey, in terms of geographic area, and has a population of approximately 12,000. We recommend the visitgrey website to learn more about the activities described below. Drop in to the Neustadt Springs Brewery, reputed to be the oldest operating brewery in the Province and take a tour of the Caverns deep underneath. Durham hosts the Durham Conservation area, a recreational area developed along two and a half miles of the main Saugeen River from the Heritage Walkway Bridge in town to the Second Concession of Glenelg. Walking trails thread the area and do double duty in winter for cross country skiing. Playgrounds, washrooms, two sandy beaches roped off for swimming and McGowan’s Falls with the picnic pavilion make this a busy and happy spot. Kayakers and canoeists are often seen practicing their sport above the Falls. Many artisans make their home in West Grey, crafting their specialties in home based studios. Banding together every Fall, they have established the Autumn Leaves Studio Tour, which winds its way through the south of Grey County with many intriguing stops. There is also a pioneer museum within 15 minutes of the property. More information can be found at the greyroots website. The towns of: Durham, Mt Forest, Flesherton, Markdale, Hanover and Owen Sound are all within 10 - 30 minutes of the property. All offer a variety of specialty food shops, supermarkets and restaurants; high end fashions, wineries, and home improvement stores, so you should be able to find everything you need and perhaps even what you don’t need. The big box stores are located in Hanover, Owen Sound and Collingwood. Remember that shops in smaller centres do close early. Hospitals: Hanover, Owen Sound, Collingwood, Wingham, Mt Forest, Markdale. Downhill skiing: The private Beaver Valley Ski Club as well as Blue Mountain offer skiing for all ages and levels. Snowshoeing: offered at many nearby facilities (or can be done onsite if you have equipment). Skating: From Blue Mountain to Cobble Beach, Harrison Park to Hanover and Priceville, outdoor rinks abound. Need an indoor option? We’ve got those too! Equestrian: Local options for sleigh rides, horseback riding, carriage rides, Amish wagon experiences and more. Other outdoor activities: Cycling, caving, climbing, hunting and shooting club within 5 minutes, hiking on the Bruce Trail, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, off-roading. There are numerous canoe/kayak routes in the area. The Boyne River, Beaver River and Rocky Saugeen River all travel through this area, and are renowned trout rivers, so fishing and fly fishing is another popular sport. There are also various great golf courses in the area, both private and semi private.
  • This farm house played host to our groups 12th year celebrating my husband's birthday! The beautiful gardens and open airy home were very welcoming! We spent a majority of time on the patio and in the pool, with the exception of meals where we enjoyed preparing in the gourmet kitchen and eating in the massive dining room. My husband and I got the pleasure of staying in the master bedroom which was a real treat! It's absolutely perfect! We played catch on the green space and hiked in the forest. Unfortunately it was too damp to see the cabin and river. Thankfully the weather was nice most of the time because we couldn't find a television. This wasn't a big deal for our group but those with families may want to ask where to find it. The security cameras were a little unnerving at first however if you're following the rules the security company won't have reason to notify host. The only feedback we thought would have made our experience better would have been a firepit near the house so we could close out the evenings! After all we are Canadian! This and taking our garbage with us. We decided we would have preferred to pay an extra $25 vs having to cart it home with us. Other than that this property allowed us to make so many wonderful memories that will last us a lifetime!

  • Our stay at Lothbroek exceeded all our expectations. It was the perfect setting for our family winter getaway. The house itself it gorgeous, spacious and superbly outfitted (with everything from kitchen utensils and cookware to books, boardgames, (and a bin of lego!) to toboggans and sleds. Rivalling the beauty of the house is the amazing property it is located on. During our visit (Dec), the property provided hours of winter hikes/sledding/exploring through forest and fields. This listing was an amazing find for us and we hope to return in the future.

  • We loved our time in Durham and the proximity to Beaver Valley Ski resort was perfect. The home is lovely, extremely well equipped and definitely exceeded our expectations. We will be looking forward to visiting again, very soon!

  • We had a really good time there! Wonderful house, very clean. Kids love the pool!

    Connie2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • 1. Smooth process, quick responses and reasonable host. 2. Driving there is very easy, only problem is GPS doesn't recognize where the correct place is. Best way to search is just by numbers. Once we figured it out which way numbers increase, we found it with no issues. 3. Cottage is huge, two staircases, six rooms, lots of couch space. Beautiful view and lot of land. 4. Closest stores are about 15 minutes down the road, all of them close early though - even gas stations. There is a foodland and few convenience stores. 5. Would highly recommend to book, would come back in future.

  • The house and grounds are outstanding. The house is big and clean. Tons of space. We are local girls from this area and wanted a girls weekend.. this place was perfect. We really enjoyed the pool area, and once we figured out the coffee maker, it was the best coffee!! The house is equipped with everything you will ever need and then some. I couldn't hype this house up enough.. it's just amazing. Paige was an amazing host! We will visit again!

A blissfully peaceful off-the grid rustic cabin retreat, two hours north-west of Toronto, with the Bruce Trail on its doorstep. No hydro. Freedom from gizmos. Back to basics. A unique experience! Winter is coming! For those who have already stayed at my spot or those looking for a truly memorable winter adventure, here’s the updated nitty-gritty. Once the snow flies the road to my lovely retreat is not serviced. It becomes a gorgeous snowmobile, sled run or hiking road down through heavenly winter wonderland. What you do when you arrive is to park at my family farm at the top of the hill and trek down the road, about 5 minutes, with your personal stuff in a backpack. I will have warmed the place up with both the propane heater and a blazing fire. Another key detail is the water system will be frozen. Thus, while I will have provided your first water supply, you need to bring buckets of water for kitchen and bathroom from the lovely spring-fed stream just a step outside the door. This routine definitely puts you in a camp-style pioneer spirit. It is a very memorable experience, being truly in the heart of winter glory. The cabin is located in the woods down a picturesque little-travelled gravel road, behind a high wooden gate that reminds some visitors of Narnia and Tolkien. Others call it Shangri-la. The stream gushing alongside the cabin sounds divine, and there’s a sunny deck with a charming vista of the pond and wooded hills beyond. You can also enjoy the view from the large picture window in the living room, while sitting by a cosy evening fire. The cabin is a lovingly personalized art-filled retreat that’s a perfect spot for two, but can accommodate up to six. There’s a snug nook called the Sauna Lounge and Bar where you can sip a cocktail and gaze out at the woods backlit at sunset. The lounge doubles as a second bedroom, with a queen-sized bed. There’s a bunkroom if you are doing the family thing, as well as a pull-out sofa in the living room. The master bedroom has large windows with vistas on three sides. As an off-the grid spot there is cell phone reception. But after dark LED potlights, candles and flashlights are provided, and essential. The spring stream-fed water system is limestone filtered and provides delicious drinking water, but no hot water, thus camp-style boiling of water for dish-washing and shower is required. The bathroom has a flush toilet, flushed in winter with a bucket. There's a new propane stove and fridge in a well-equipped kitchen, and a propane BBQ on the deck. The cabin, as indicated on the map, is half way down Campbell's Hill Rd., a steep gravel road, leading down into the Beaver Valley. The fire code # is 466286. The turn-off down Campbell's Hill Rd. is left off Grey Rd 13, 2 kms north of the village of Eugenia. Your host will be there to greet you and explain all the fine points. Once you settle in, she will be only five minutes away and reachable by phone/text in case you need anything. Otherwise your seclusion is total. No neighbourhood. How perfect! Five minutes away up the hill in the village of Eugenia at a store called Top O' the Rock, you can buy liquor and basic food supplies. There's another store called Jable's, and also an excellent restaurant bar open on weekends, The Flying Chestnut. Make a point of visiting Eugenia Falls in the village, a beautiful gorge in a cedar grove. The town of Markdale with a full supermarket is a lovely cross-the-valley 20 minute drive. Lake Eugenia where you can put a boat in the water and swim is five minutes away by car. The cabin is literally on the Bruce Trail, but many other access points to the Trail are close by, including the magestic Old Baldy walk, in May full of trillium carpets. In winter Beaver Valley Ski Club for downhill skiing is also very close. A car is essential to get there. After that hiking is the thing. Your host would love to know something about you in your email reservation request.
  • Although it was a rainy weekend for us, we had a wonderful time in front of the fireplace enjoying the pattering of the rain and the rustling of the leaves. We took our 2 year old with us and she enjoyed the walks in the forest and watching the leaves fall. It was truly an autumn escape for our family. Thank you CIndy.

  • Beautiful, secluded, peaceful quiet spot . I felt like a pioneer, living in simpler times . No hydro just beAutiful light from the fire and candles . Loved the trails , and also just walking on the gravel road taking in the fall colours . We will come again

  • A perfect little cabin in the woods for some quiet reflection. Nice and clean with all the supplies I needed. Cindy was helpful, genuine and communicated promptly. I hope to return one day.

  • Cindy was quite lovely in showing me around the cabin and the grounds and in getting me up to speed on the little things needed to know about enjoying the place. It was a lovely spot, tucked into the valley. With the windows open, the flowing stream provided a lovely background.

  • I didn't get a chance to meet Cindy, but she was always available by phone and often replied within moments. Communication leading up to our arrival was clear, courteous and timely. The cabin is just as charming as the photos suggest. There are many things to explore in the area, but a definite highlight was simply hanging out on the deck and taking in the sights and sounds. This is a very special place. Stay here if you get the chance.

    Diana2016-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy met me at my car with a warm smile, a great start! I felt very welcome and comfortable in the new surroundings as she walked me down to the cabin. As per the description, the cabin is very much 'off the grid'. There is no constant electric buzz in the background, no microwave, no TV, no distractions. Perfect for a quiet escape. Candles light the evening, as the wood stove steadily heats the cabin, you cannot ask for a better way to wind down, after a hike along the Bruce Trail, which you can see out the window, yes it is that close! Speaking of nature, you only need to step outside. Your drinking (and all else) water source is a natural spring that runs, literally steps from the front door, gently rushing down the slope –very therapeutic. The property has a pond that is so peaceful, so quiet, a spot to sit listen to the birds, or stargaze at night. A magical stay, one which I will have to repeat and share!

    Jonan2016-03-28T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy's cabin is an incredible and magical space to stay! We absolutely loved the location, cabin and property and highly recommend it as a rustic place to relax and unwind. The pond is beautiful, complete with frog-song. Lots to do in the area as well. Thanks for sharing Cindy and your check-ins were appreciated!

    Erin2016-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cindy is a wonderful person. You can see that she cares for the things surrounding her - the environment, nature, her cabin, and you. She accommodated our last minute decision to stay the weekend and made sure we arrived there on time. The cabin was lovely, fully equipped with everything you need, and it was cozy. It was great to leave the city life behind and get back to the simple things of life. If you do decide to stay here, PLEASE take care of it and be conscious of the environmental footprint you leave behind. You can see the love and care she puts into this cabin. Otherwise, embrace nature and love it!

Once the sun has set you will be able to enjoy time with your family at the outside fire pit roasting smores or under the outside covered patio table to protect from foul weather. Inside your two queen bedroom one bathroom unit you will find it fully equipped with bedding and towels (we do request you bring your own beach towels). The unit is quite spacious with a fully equipped kitchen, dining area as well as living room with cable TV and plenty of board games. The owners live in a separate upper unit with no areas being shared.
The property is located on a gravel road in a small quiet cottage community. The area has plenty of hiking trails, waterfalls as well as many ponds to watch the natural wildlife. The lake is quite warm and is great for swimming in and swimming is not one of your interests their are many species of fish such as bass, perch, catfish, and sunfish.
  • A great spot for our family to spend the week. The host was receptive and friendly. The property was very well cared for and exceeded our expectations. The 2 bedroom apartment was modern and updated and everything we needed was available in the full kitchen.

  • This is a little hidden treasure. We will definitely be back. We had a day of no sun but it didn't matter. The games closet kept my kids laughing and occupied and off the electronics which was the plan! Then once the sun came out we enjoyed kayaking and swimming and playing outside with our little pooch who surprised us and loved the water! Really friendly, happy folks at this cottage. Accommodations were impeccable (and the kitchen is well equipped) and their garden is as well kept as their home. Enjoy!

  • My family and I really enjoyed our stay. The location is beautiful, the house was very clean and the hosts fantastic. We highly recommend this place!

  • Sunset Getaway was amazing, I would highly recommend any families looking for some R&R to stay a few nights here. We went with our 3 kids and their grandparents and everyone had a fantastic time. The suite is large, nicely decorated, clean and very well stocked. They had everything we needed from extra blankets, towels, toiletries, electric mixer, dishwasher and more. You could really feel at home here. The hosts give you a lot of privacy, but if you need anything they are easy to find and very willing to help. We were greeted by Paul and Michelle with a bottle of wine. The property is set on a lake that is very quiet, they provided a canoe, two kayaks, and a paddle boat which we used frequently. It was nice that we didn't have to share with anyone use and could use them as we pleased. At night we roasted marshmallows (they have marshmallow roasters) around the fire pit and saw the milky way. Overall a fantastic trip and we would definitely come back again!

  • The lake house was spotless when we arrived. Everything was as advertised. The hosts were very friendly and we had full use of the boats, lake, fire pit, etc. Very quiet and relaxing location. If you want a place to get away from it all, this is the place!

  • Our experience at Justin's place was great. Despite the fact it rained all weekend the beauty of the space made it a lovely weekend. We are looking forward to returning another weekend when the weather is more on our side. Very beautiful place and the hosts are incredibly welcoming.

  • We had such an incredible stay with Mark and Marie. The home is absolutely gorgeous. The attention to detail in our room was fabulous, and the garden and pool were spectacular. Did I mention the delicious breakfast, lovingly made by Mark and Marie. Our first morning we were served waffles, with home made whipped cream and fresh strawberries and on our second morning we had an incredible frittata, with roasted potatoes and fried tomatoes. A truly magic time! Thank you for your warmth and hospitality.

  • What a gorgeous home!! It was everything I hoped for! Huge place with lots of rooms, beautifully designed and themed. The backyard has a huge pool and great for hanging out and we had some fun playing with the squirrels haha! Breakfast was delicious, so fresh and filling. Recommendations of places to eat and things to do nearby were great from the host ! It made our 1 night trip perfect! Thanks so much and can't wait to be back in Markdale!

  • The host (Temple) was extremely accommodating upon our arrival. The manor is stunning. A must stay. Extremely comfortable bed, clean, the manor and grounds feel like jolly ol England. Wonderful hosts. Will stay again for sure. Thanks!

    Geoffrey2016-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Temple and Mark were both there to welcome us even though we were later than expected. We had a nice tour of the property and a dinner recommendation. It's a very small town so you can walk everywhere. The manor is crazy beautiful. We wished we could stay an extra day just to hang out by the pool but alas there was just too much to do in the Grey County area. In a 24 hour period we road the Ridge Rollar at Blue Mountain Village, went antique shopping, toured Kickin' Back Alpaca Ranch, sampled drinks at Beaver Valley Cidery, rented a canoe from Free Spirit rentals, had a picnic on the edge of the Eugenia Falls and swam in the Georgian Bay just outside of Collingwood. Had we more time we would also have gone horseback riding. This area is perfect and Markdale Manor Century Retreat is the perfect place to stay.

  • Our first experience with Airbnb and it was simply fantastic. Thank you to Tom and Temple for setting the bar so high with your dearest hospitality. Your care, attentiveness, and open levels of communication sets you apart and is much appreciated. Your home is spectacular, beautiful, and welcoming to say the least. Thanks for making it feel like it was really our home for the days we stayed. We look forward to staying with you again should opportunity present itself. Best, Jack and Cheryl.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Mark and Marie's. Room is exactly as described, with an outstanding breakfast. Will come back there for sure if we are in the region again.

Beautiful country hideaway in beautiful Grey County. This heritage home is ready to welcome you. Enjoy our lovely verandah overlooking a pond plus a duck pond for wildlife behind the house! Enjoy quiet walks along paths on our 100 acres. Close to GTA quiet & private too! Most suitable for guests who are wanting a home base to explore the Bruce peninsula, or just wanting a quiet place to chill.
Quiet and peaceful and still close to the GTA. Drive up and relax for a couple of nights...or perhaps a full week. Enjoy the sights of the Grey-Bruce, Tobermory and Collingwood.
Wow! A great spot to call home base then venture out to the villages and towns to explore amazing Grey-Bruce.
  • We loved our stay! Hunter was so welcoming and helpful. The farm is gorgeous. And it was well located for exploring the Bruce Peninsula. We recommend Heritage House to all looking for a relaxing, beautiful experience.

  • The staff is extremely welcoming, lovely and gracious. The location was extremely easy to find. It is a retirement residence, so it is ideally suited for someone needing some quiet time away in their room, or for someone requiring a single overnight stay on their journey to somewhere else. The facility was clean and orderly.

  • Abbeyfield was very accommodating for the very odd hours we were using the room. We really enjoyed the residents and appreciated how nice everyone was.

  • A very comfortable, friendly place. I was warmly greeted on arrival. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom squeaky clean. It was easy to find once I arrived in Durham, as the municipality signed it on the main Street. There are lovely places to sit outside if you are there at the right time of year and McGowan's Falls is only 3-4 blocks away. A lovely stay and I'm sure I'll be back.

  • Abbeyfield is a clean, economical place to stay. The rooms are nicely appointed and cozy. We have booked there twice in 2017 and look forward to the next time we have a family function in the region. The staff are experienced and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed for a comfortable weekend. We were travelling and they generously let us store our cooler full of food in the boardroom fridge. We enjoyed meeting the residents and had lively conversations over breakfast. We highly recommend Abbeyfield.

  • Although short, I had a great stay here. Mark, Marie (and Temple) were great hosts and answered very quickly. They were even nice enough to let me check in early as I had a wedding. I enjoyed the short history lesson about the property and the breakfast before leaving was delicious! Thanks for being such welcoming hosts, guys. I'll stay out here again next time I'm out this way - it's a beautiful place and I wish I had more time to appreciate it better.

  • Our stay at Markdale Manor was fantastic, the hosts were very friendly and treated us to delicious breakfasts. The Manor was beautiful with a lot of interesting areas inside and outside. Our room was cozy and clean and had everything we needed to feel at home. Markdale is also situated in a good location about halfway between Toronto and Tobermory. We look forward to staying again in the future :)

  • This place was incredible! A stunning mansion tastefully decorated with some amazing antique furniture. The room we stayed in was bright and large with a comfortable bed, and a beautiful spotless ensuite bathroom. Towels and sheets were super soft. Delicious breakfast and great coffee in a French press. A total treat! Mark, Marie, and their daughter Temple were a complete delight to deal with - super hosts, warm, and well versed in the history of the house (for those who love that - we do!). The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful countryside. Can't wait to return!

    Claire2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great experience, we didn't expected such a nice place, it's like a private resort with great gardens, pool, amazing areas to relax, chill out, read, think or just enjoy! However you can enjoy the Netflix in your bedroom and living room, the breakfast was even better than any restaurant, everything homemade and delicious! You can enjoy staying feeling at home or hiking or traveling to blue mountain in the east or the beaches in the west, and halfway to Tobermorry! Definitely I would love to come back, for a romantic night, with family, friends or even by myself, having a 100% Canadian experience!!!

  • Barb is an excellent host. We had a wedding to attend and unfortunately we couldn't check-in until midnight. She was very accommodating to our needs and communication with her was uncomplicated. The room was clean and so was the washroom -- it was larger than I expected. Everything we needed was there for us. We will recommend Barb to our friends and family. Thank you Barb!
