For group retreats, our boat is available for charter with our captain Leo ( a local of the area) Bring your bug spray, your hiking boots, and your bathing suit! It's tropical adventure time! !!! IMPORTANT: THIS IS A RUSTIC PLACE, NOT A RESORT !!! It's for the adventurous, who want reasonable comfort in a remote setting, and want to experience realities of rural life in the tropics. Wear Bug Protection: We are bug conscious in the design of our accommodations. That being said, a layer of coconut oil, or bug spray can keep you comfortable during "Chitra Hour" when the no-see-ums come out at dawn and dusk. These critters are generally predictable, so its easy to be prepared.

  • I don't even know where to begin. My co-workers/friends and I spent a month at the beautiful Coco-Vivo jungle retreat and it far exceeded all our expectations. We spent a month swimming, kayaking, hiking, snorkeling, eating delicious food and having an overall great time. The coral around the cabin is gorgeous and we saw several dolphins swimming by, not to mention the wide variety of fish, sea stars and rays! Our hosts were incredible. They cooked us delicious meals, took us on adventures to other beautiful beaches and islands, and made sure we had everything we needed. We really miss them! It is a rustic farm, but we were very comfortable during our stay. The beds were comfortable and there are fans and mosquito nets in each of the rooms. We didn't have much trouble with bugs in the room, but make sure to bring bug spray for hanging out by the reef cabin. It's lovely laying out in the hammocks by the water, but the chitras (no-see-ums) will get you if you're not covered! I whole-heartedly recommend staying here. It is such a unique experience to get away from the crowds and the typical resorts and live off the grid on a tropical island. I know I will never forget my time here. It was incredible(URL HIDDEN)

  • I'm a traveler, and I know the area moderately. I scoped out Ulrich's spot as a place to send my best friends on their honeymoon this winter. WOW. The pictures don't do it justice. It's a great location. Details matter down here and this guy knows what he's doing. He picked a spot that has everything, including BIOLUMINESCENT ocean water (you know, sparkles like Avatar when you swim at night??... I'm not kidding), fruit trees, coral reef, and a naturally low insect load. I can tell you from personal experience that you will find properties around here that are sand flea hell. His accommodations are high up on the hill and out over the water on a causeway, and the paths in between are clear of brush (there is literally a walkway lined with palm trees on either side). He was smart about where he put waste, septic and compost, he has twice as many solar panels (24) and water tanks (6 giant) as nearby places. These are all things you WONT notice, because your stay will be comfortable, and you'll be relaxing in a hammock and not running out of power and water. Another mark of respect, the locals that live on a small house on the property are great people, and actually like him (they were bringing up fruit and presents, chatting us up, making coconut oil, and coconut water in the mornings and even speaking some English). He used traditional joinery and construction techniques where possible and hand hewn natural braces and trusses in the architecture. I am so impressed with this guy, he is clearly a great human. Definitely excited to send my friends Jim and Chante down here for their honeymoon :)

  • Lazare and Jodi picked us right up from the airport and made us feel comfortable right away. They helped us get our groceries and then took us to the hut while stopping by dolphin bay where we saw so many dolphins all around our boat. I loved this place with all the wildlife (above and below water), Lazare and Jodi's fantastic cooking, meeting the other people staying in the hut, and feeling like I was truly in a paradise. I like exploring and seeing new things, so a word to people like me, don't go into the jungle by yourself. Lazare is a great guide and the jungle can be a dangerous place to get lost. Have fun in the hillhouse and look close to see the toucans, sloths, and amazing fish.

  • We stayed in both this Jungle Retreat and also in the Reef Cabin on the water (the other rental). We loved it!! Lazure is a very welcoming host, and we had fun spending time with him. There is also a very friendly dog and two cats. Oh, and can't forget the school of fish under the dock that like to be fed. It's so beautiful here - a true paradise! You can swim right off the dock, kayak, SUPboard, visit nearby Dolphin Bay...lots to do. There is equipment available to snorkel, but the water is so crystal clear we viewed the beautiful coral right from the kayaks. Or, you can relax and nap in the lounge chairs on the dock. There is a restaurant across the bay (only open Friday night and Sunday) where we spent a fun Sunday afternoon. It is rustic (meaning bugs and spiders!) but you are in the jungle so that's to be expected. However, if you're used to camping, this is "luxury": a very well stocked full kitchen, bath with flush toilet and (cold) shower, electricity, and internet. (And there was no lack of outlets to charge your devices.) The beds were comfortable and no "city" noise when you slept - just the sounds of nature. You are renting the entire cabin (it was just two of us) but this would be ideal for a large group - a private "master" bedroom is on the first floor, and the second floor has multiple beds to accommodate many. It's set up the hill, so it's very private, yet you have full access to the dock (where two other rentals are located). Unfortunately, Jodi (the cook) had to be away during our stay due to a family emergency, but Lazure was able notify us in advance and we came prepared with groceries bought in Bocas. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!! This was our favorite place of our vacation. Hope to make a return visit someday. Thanks Lazure! PS. While Ulrich officially owns the property, Lazure and Jodi are the property managers and who you will be dealing with.

  • Lazare has been a very nice and incredibly helpful host throughout the whole duration of our stay (8 days). He is knowledgeable of the local flora and fauna, as well as the places to visit around Cristobal Island. He's resourceful and always willing to help, crossing the boundary of the typical exchange you'd expect in a professional setting, it felt more like spending the week with a friend. The island itself is quite magical, with the temperature of the water about the same as the surrounding atmosphere. As Cristobal is located in a bay, the stillness of the water reflects like glass and allows you to see right to the bottom of the exotic reef. At night, the water on the reef glows with bioluminescence (when excited via movement) and feels a bit like swimming through the night sky. It rained daily, as it was the rainy season — but the rain was mostly concentrated from 3am-9am and lowered the temperature nicely. Pro tip: washing clothes. The air is so humid that they'll never dry off completely if you just hang them somewhere, make sure you expose them to the sun whenever it's shining. Lazare took us on a rigorous hike of the island where we ate from the land guanabana fruit (a gigantic one, we quite literally stuffed our faces in it), cocoa, fresh limes and cilantro with a machete clearing our path. We kayaked across the bay for $1 beers and $2 chicken, where the local children found us terribly amusing. Ulrich has constructed an impressive off the grid paradise, which really led us to be conscious of our water and electricity use. It's a rustic experience, but a unique oasis for the adventurous and sustainability minded. Keep in mind: you're in the jungle. Expect jungle fauna. Beatles, cockroaches, dragon moths, and yes, even tarantulas (we found one in the house crawling just beside out feet), opossums, and parrots will be part of your daily routine. If you're freaked out by one of them, look for something else. If you don't mind having an authentic tropical jungle experience, then this is definitely the place for you.

  • Swiss Family Robinson meets Avatar! As a child I watched Swiss Family Robinson and ever since I've been dreaming of what it would be like to live like them. It's no longer a dream for me, it's a memory. My friend and I spent 4 days 3 Nights at Ulrich's place on the southern tip of Cristobal Island (very precise location if you're looking on the map) and we had a blast. From the location, to the views, to the bioluminescent water, to the snorkeling, kayaking and the caretaker (Ricardo), everything was great! I'm not hard to please, but I will say, if you are counting on running water, make sure you confirm with Ulrich before you go. There was none when we were there, although the locals somehow managed to get a 45 gallon barrel of water up the hill and into the bathroom for us to use for showering. The house is really something special, you've got to get there and see it for yourself! When you do be sure to get Ricardo to take you to Pizza and/or Chicken for a good meal and great company.

  • Our hosts were delightful: welcoming, informative, accommodating and warm. We got off our plane at the wrong town and Lazare and Carmen took it all in stride. They gave us reliable and interesting tips to help negotiate this beautiful but, for us, very different world. They also helped us respectfully negotiate the culture. We appreciated Lazare's attention to the delicacy of the environment while also attending to our comfort. It is always good to be reminded that water is an essential resource not to be squandered, that we do leave an impact where ever we live and travel. Food was delicious and more than ample! The beach and jungle excursions were highlights.

Welcome to our Tropical Island Paradise on the Southern tip of Isla San Cristobal in the Bocas Del Toro Archipelago. The island has no roads or electricity but we support ourselves with solar panels, a backup generator and a rainwater collection system. You'll be staying in The Reef Cabin, two rooms, perched above the island's coral reef. The Sunrise Room sleeps 3 people, in a dorm style room with 2 single beds and a double. The room offers a rustic experience with low cane walls and curtains for your privacy. The sea breeze will make you forget about air conditioning, but there is also a fan if you are feeling the Panamanian heat! If your group is larger than 4, the Reef Cabin has a second bedroom for rent, with a queen sized bed, called the Diving Board Room. Both Rooms are above the shared kitchen and living space equipped with hammocks, swing chairs and sun loungers for your ultimate relaxation. All guests at the retreat do have use of the common dock and kitchen. We offer deliciously prepared meals, served family style for our guests. There is a freshwater shower (biodegradable soap only, please!) at the Reef Cabin, and the composting toilet is a 2 minute walk away. Beneath you, there is lots of aquamarine life: starfish, our resident nurse shark, octopus, colorful fish, a family of snappers, and of course the dolphins (see them during the day, hear them at night), amazing coral and magical bioluminescence in the water at night! Other options on the property include 3 cabins along the waters edge, 1 waterfront house, and a house perched up on the Hill. These listings are more removed from the common area and offer a more private experience, feel free to ask for links to them via a Secluded Tropical Reef Inquiry. Clean linens and towels are provided for all guests. Spices, cooking oils, and other kitchen basics are provided for your use, along with fresh young coconut juice, bananas, and other fresh goods from the property. (Cilantro, lemongrass, and citruses galore grow all around the Hill House!) A 5 minute boat ride (or half an hour kayak or an hour swim :-)) takes you across the bay where you can buy (limited!) supplies or visit Ernie for his famous fried chicken. A 30-minute each way, $70 round trip boat ride will take you to the town of Bocas del Toro, which has over a dozen bars and restaurants, a fun backpacker party scene, some very good food, some not-so-good food, an airport, several small supermarkets, local fruit and vegetable stands, and lots of local color and diversity. A similar boat trip will take you to the mainland (Almirante), a jumping off point for extended trips to Panama's incredible cloud forest or Costa Rica. Bring your sunscreen, bug spray, and your bathing suit! It's tropical adventure time!
The reef cabin is schoon en in verzorgde staat.

    Valerie2014-12-02T00:00:00Z
  • The water was crystal clear. Snorkeling and kayaking available anytime to see the gorgeous coral and many fish. On an easy hike, you can spot sloths. Gourmet meals were served on the hanging table while cool breezes kept you comfortable. Carmen and Lazar were amazing hosts that were willing to do whatever we asked. Their laid back approach was perfect for a relaxing vacation. what more could you ask for???

    Jane2017-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had an absolutely amazing stay at Secluded Reef! If you love nature, as I do, then you will love it here! Initially, I thought about spending less but this was more than worth the cost! Our hosts took awesome care of us! Lazare and Carmen cooked us fantastic meals made even better by the abundance of fresh fruits, herbs, flowers, and plants grown on their land! They led us on an incredible hike through the property where we spotted a sloth up close, indigenous plants, trees, and wildlife and amazing views of the water. We woke up to jungle sounds, morning kayak rides, and snorkeling adventures and spent the evenings watching incredible sunsets and even got to experience bioluminescence in the water! We did not want to leave our loving and conscientious hosts or the pristine environment! Can't wait to go back!!

  • uff... I do hate writing reviews... anyhow: NICE!!! after years of big city life, this place is a dish... especially the invitation to just roll out of bed into the ocean... stood there way longer then expected and had a beautiful time :-) Dorien & Lazare are taking almost smothering good care of you, local caretaker living in the hut close by is awsome (especially after serving tons of fresh pipa (coconut water)... good large bed with netting (no mosqitos, but no see ums can become quite nasty certain moments in time)... what you now already: this place is out of nowhere... next to some austrian place and a tiny shop on the other site there is nothing - and still you hear boats, caretaker and so on... I was in hope to find the absolute nothingness (I know, might be scary for some of you)... you should be aware that there is the hill house as well (check for Tropical Island Jungle Retreat), so you might end up sharing the space (for bathing and son on) with some other guys living in the other house - we had a couple there for the last nights and it worked out well, anyhow, there is no guarantee for total privacy once there are more guests... wanted to book the hill house with the idea of having both houses available, but that's not the case anyhow, if you are in love with water and being exposed to whatever comes (wind, sun, rain, coconut) - book it! I'd definitely come again (and would make sure there is no one else around :-) thanks again to Dorien & Lazare for being always there and present, same with Izmael who is happy to support you with basically anything, and always with a smile :-)

  • Staying at Lazares and Doriens place was relaxing, fun and just exceptional! Lazare picked us up in almirante and took us by boat to the wildlife paradise // ranch // house on the sea he runs with his girlfriend. We immediatly felt very welcomed. Lazare showed us around on his organic ranch and explained all the projects they're running out there. We had three very relaxing nights, very delicious food by the very talented chef lazare himself. We went kayaking and saw dolphins, met nice and cool guests staying there (hey collin's gang) and volunteers working there (moin moin selina, toni & chris). We enjoyed our stay very much and highly recommend this place to people who want to step of the beaten track and dive into a wildlife expierience!

    Smoerk2013-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • This place easily fulfilled a bucket list item. It was the ultimate rustic/luxury camping experience. Right below your feet is one of the most pristine fringing coral reefs I have ever been on with magical bioluminescent activity at night. We had fabulous coffee every morning watching the sun rise over the surrounding rainforest (when it didn't rain). Leo was a wonderful host and made sure we had everything we needed including a thoughtful delivery of fresh coconuts for us to drink. He took us in his boat to a great local restaurant and drove us around the bay to see dolphins. His English is very good and he helped us understand some of the local fare. The three of us were very comfortable and everything we needed was provided including cook stove/utensils, fresh water, food storage area so the geckos didn't get into things, comfortable beds with mosquito netting, and a super friendly dog named Captain. We all talked about how we could get back again some day.

    Laura2015-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • First off, Lazare and Carmen's place really is absolutely beautiful. Other than the housekeepers a few hundred yards east, you truly feel isolated. The night sky is breathtaking, completely unadulterated except from the slight glow from Almirante in the east. The rest of the picture you get from the description, which is pretty accurate. The grounds are gorgeous, the SUPs and kayaks are available. Dolphins aren't far away. And the bioluminescent bay sparkles when you jump on the deck. Carmen and Lazare are very gracious hosts and seem eager to share their world with their guests. Plus, they are very good company and fun to talk to. The title describes this rental as 'magical', and it really is, but you must have the right mindset. You're not here to be pampered, you're here to get away. You need to be creative when things break, conservative in your electricity and water usage. You'll essentially be living outside, and so you need to be comfortable with what that means. The only thing that maybe isn't so obvious from the listing is that the main reef cabin with its deck and kitchen is shared among all the guests. There are two bedrooms at the main cabin, and two smaller cabins a hundred or so feet away and a larger house up on a hill. When we arrived other guests were there which we weren't expecting. They left the next morning however, so it was nice to have the whole space to ourselves for a couple days.

    Jake2016-01-10T00:00:00Z
  • We spent three nights at the Reef Cabin, and they were the most unforgettable days of our trip. The place is amazing, it is exactly what it looks like in the pictures. The host, Lazare made sure that we have tons of fun and that we experience everything that the Bocas area can offer. We had many once in a lifetime experiences including seeing dolphins swimming next to us, baby turtles reaching the water, drinking coconut water right from the tree, amazing snorkeling and feeling like angels in the bioluminecent waters. If you feel a bit more adventurous there is great zip-line half an hour by boat from the hut. If you feel less adventurous, there is snorkeling, SUP, kayaking etc. Lazare put a lot of effort into preparing our meals, and the meal plan is highly recommended. Concluding we would go there again and again and we would recommend it to anyone who is not afraid of experiencing nature.

  • Amazing place seemingly at the end of the earth. My wife and I were fortunate enough to have the place to ourselves and the experience was amazing. Unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the company and cooking of Lazare and Jody but the caretaker, the ever-smiling Leo ensured we had everything we needed. This place needs to be experienced and cannot be easily described with words. It is not for everyone, but then that's what made me want to go. It is remote, there are lots of insects, no TV and traditional 'luxuries' are non-existent but it was the highlight of our round-the-world trip and the place that will last longest in our memories. I just hope that places like this remain the realm of the adventurous and not the group-tour, mainstream travellers. I'd hate for my kids not to be able to throw a pack on their shoulders, throw caution to the wind, travel and enjoy the unspoiled beauty of somewhere like this in the future....

  • Staying with Lazare and Dorien was an adventure that will never be forgotten. Their open mind and "anything is possible attitude" is inspirational. Lazare picked us up and went out of his way to make sure to show us the dolphins on the way to the bungalow. We were treated as family immediately they encouraged us to drink their coconuts, try some delicious gazpacho, use their kayaks and snorkel gear. Days were full of dolphins, beautiful coral, horses, virgin jungle hikes, and cooking amazing food together in their kitchen. Their passion for the area is enough to make you want to stay and provides a behind the scenes experience to bocas. We look forward to returning and would highly advise this tropical treat.

  • Our stay at CocoVivo was better than we ever could have imagined. We've never woken up in a more beautiful place! Lazare and Jodi are lovely people and fantastic hosts with a wonderful outlook on life, not to mention great chefs. Leo brought us fresh coconuts every day and Capitan kept us company at night. We swam, snorkeled, kayaked hiked and relaxed in hammocks. We saw dolphins, turtles, sloths, jellyfish and the discovered the mind-blowing experience of bioluminescence. We can't wait to go back.

  • Simply amazing. Definitely one of the best spots to spend some time if you want to have awesome nature and even better folks around you. The reef is stunning, so is the jungle that starts directly behind the houses. Lazare and Carmen are really taking care of their guests and make the whole experience very special. Thanks a lot for the great time!

  • I had an absolutely wonderful experience at CocoVivo! Lazare and Jody were amazing hosts and cooks, and the views were gorgeous. The purpose of my trip was to relax, and that is exactly what I did! I was able to spend two days reading in a hammock and enjoying the delicious meals the hosts prepared without a care in the world. When I felt like going for a swim, I just jumped into the crystal-clear water on either side of the dock where I could see a huge variety of coral, starfish, and tropical fish. My stay definitely exceeded my expectations, and I will be back for sure the next time I am in Bocas.

  • Before we even arrived at Dolphin Bay Cabanas, Jelle answered questions for us almost daily. He and his wife picked us up at the airport in Bocas Del Toro, which we really appreciated since we had never been there before and didn't know how to hire a water taxi. The cabanas are on Isla San Cristobol, about 20 minutes from Bocas. There are indigenous people on the island as well as a smattering of expats. Most of the island is jungle. Nights were super quiet except for the noise of the jungle including monkeys! Dolphin Bay Cabana property offers hiking trails through over a 100 acres of the island. Wildlife is abundant including butterflies, birds, snakes, and sloths to name a few. You will have a real Panamanian experience if you stay here. We slept with all doors and windows open. The cabanas have traditional thatched roofs and are sparse, but they had everything we needed and they were super clean! Jelle lives on the property with his wife Diana and mother Jannicka (I hope I spelled your name correctly, Jannicka!) Diana makes a superb supper every night and you will eat family style. Wine is included with dinner. The first night this felt strange but by the end of the week we truly felt like family! Breakfast was just the two of us in the restaurant or outside on the patio. They thoughtfully catered to our dietary restrictions and desires, which is not easy! Food was very reasonably priced, beer and bottles water were a $1, filtered water was free. Nightlife consisted of good conversation or watching the show from the rain and lightening! When we wanted to explore, Jannicka made arrangements with a private, local guide and packed a cooler full of beverages. Troy was really great and we never would have found him w/o their help. The swimming right outside the cabanas offers some snorkeling but it's an easy boat ride to tropical reefs of all shapes and sizes! All in all it was a great trip and truly relaxing!!! We learned a lot about Panamanian culture and customs as well! For an eco-resort experience, this is a 5-star!

  • Jelle and his family are very great people. Lovely, helpful and polite. The dolphin bay is a beautiful little island a half hour far with the boat from almirante and the main island of Bocas. Jelle offer a lot of nice activities but the best is to enjoy the feeling. Feel you far of reality.

  • Hi Jelle, Janneke & Diana (and Myra :-)), Thanks again for everything; you made us feel really welcome. Your place was like a paradise for us; both me and Lena would've wanted to stay longer if we could. All the best and good luck with your beautiful home! (big hug to Myra from Lena:-)). Groetjes! + Perfect hosts (e.g. helpful, caring, good conversationalists, family-like atmosphere) + Beautiful surroundings (e.g. very tropical, lots of animals) + Delicious homemade food available (also very affordable) +/- Off the grid (travelling around by boat can be expensive) (tip: do the trip to Isla Zapatillas)

  • Thanks to Janneke, Diana and Jelle. We had a very relaxing time at Dolphin Bay and will highly recommend this place for everyone looking for a quite vacation within tropical nature. We also loved having dinner and breakfast together with our hosts and other guests.

  • Lovly cabanas, on a remote island off pocas. If you're looking for tranquility, relaxation and water activities, this is the place. You're bound to see lotsa fish, sting rays, octopus, dolphins etc. right from your breakfast table. Dining options are limited (boat drive) but on site dining is excellent. Breakfast is excellent as well. Jelle used to be a skipper,so boat drives, sailing, snorkeling trips, wake boarding etc. is right there. The cabanas are eco-build - so they are open - and offer cold water only (some bats may say hello ;)). There's a big jungle track behind the property which is worth checking out (also a pound filled with small crocs :) Be sure to stock up on anti bite spray + after bite gel - noseeems(sandfly) are very active during dusk and dawn. The trip from Almirante is a good 30-45 mins boat drive - for us it was raining both times - prepare to get soaked(rain poncho is a must). All in all a great place with "family" feeling.

Panama City is home to races, religions, and cultures from around the world. Whereas the high-rises of Punta Paitilla and the Area Bancária (banking district) create a skyline more impressive than that of Miami (really!), the brick streets and balconies of the Casco Viejo evoke the French Quarter of New Orleans. The tree-lined boulevards of Balboa are a mixture of early-20th-century American architecture and exuberant tropical vegetation. The islands reached by the nearby Calzada de Amador (Amador Causeway) are full of bars and restaurants and a marina. The city's proximity to tropical nature is astounding, with significant patches of forest protected within city limits on Cerro Ancón (Ancón Hill) and in Parque Metropolitano, and the national parks of Camino de Cruces and Soberanía just to the northwest of town. You could spend a morning hiking through the rain forest of the Parque Metropolitano to see parrots and toucans, then watch pelicans dive into the sea while sipping a sunset drink at one of Amador Causeway's restaurants. There are plenty of spots in and around the city to view massive ships moving in and out of the Panama Canal. An array of restaurants, an abundance of shops and handicraft markets, and a vibrant nightlife scene round out Panama City's charm. Panama City can also serve as a base for a bunch of day trips, including Panama Canal transit tours, a boat ride to Isla Taboga or Isla Contadora, a trip on the Panama Canal Railway, a day exploring the colonial fortresses, beaches, and coral reefs of Portobelo, or hikes through various rain-forest reserves. Included in Panama City's colorful contrasts are many of the unfortunate aspects of urban life in the developing world. It has its fair share of slums, including several around must-see Casco Viejo. Traffic is often downright terrible, and the ocean along its coast is very polluted. Crime is a problem in some neighborhoods. Be careful where you walk around alone, especially at night. The city as a whole is quite safe, especially the downtown area, where you'll find bustling hotels, restaurants, and bars.

  • Words really cannot describe Michelle's listing! It is a remote slice of paradise that will reconnect you with nature's beauty. Michelle is a wonderful chef, an enthusiastic entertainer/storyteller/guide, an exceptional human. Book this listing if you: honor the earth; love the stars; enjoy a good game of dominos; want to swim in a bioluminescent sea; seek peace; love to sing/dance/laugh; like dogs and/or monkeys; enjoy conversation; are a foodie; or for any reason! Michelle's De La Luna is balm for the soul!

  • Casa Saraso at DLL! Rustic tropical adventure & relaxation intertwined beautifully. As the reviews say, Michelle is an insane cook/mixologist & an eccentric bold amazing lady that holds great wisdom , fun & humor. Here to celebrate my 40th, we mixed our days w/ kayak trips around loma partida, boat trips to even more remote islands (thx to Michelle! ) a jungle trek w/ all 3 dogs, MAJOR hanging in the water outside our doorsteps & on the hammocks, deck yoga, a trip to the monkey sanctuary , nocturnal swimming w/ bioluminescent creatures y más! We had the place mostly to ourselves & Michelle was most diligent at catering it to our preferences & also giving us the more 'local' experience we desired. DEF will return to Saraso!!!

  • Paradise, it seems, doesn’t reveal itself easily or even cheaply for that matter: In our case, it was a taxi ride to the Albrook airport in Panama City -- that extranjeros like you and me are overcharged by at least 3X ($30 in our case), followed by an hour and a half of flying on one of Air Panama’s Fokker aircrafts that lands on what is barely an airstrip that they call the Isla Colon “International” airport ($100 each way), followed by a rickety taxi ride to the water taxi station ($2 per head for what is less than a 3 minute ride), an animated negotiation with the boatman to get us to an island called Loma Partida ($80 negotiated down to $50 -- negotiation highly recommended), and a “hold on to the boat handrails for dear life for the next 1.5 hours” because your boatman thinks he is the fraternal twin of Michael Schumacher on an F1 circuit. Six hours and a few hundred dollars later, we are received by an entourage of hosts in their beachwear, three dogs, and a pet monkey. Boisterous welcome followed by cocktails that never seemed to end and a sumptuous community dinner of coconut rice and fresh catch of the sea barracuda -- all this in candle light as we learn more about the creation and guiding philosophy of the eco jungle beach resort that is De La Luna. The warm welcome, the lapping waves, and the flowing cocktails melt away all the stress and exhaustion of the time and effort it takes to get to Loma Partida. The most breathtaking moments of the stay happen when the gently lapping waves wake you up in the morning in your hut and you look out into the ocean. Too many fantastic highlights and memories to document here. Leisure activities and facilities aplenty -- complete with hammocks, paddle boats, a library, and a variety of floating devices for you and your favorite brand of alcohol. The best part about this resort is the fact that you are disconnected from your digital tools -- if you are looking for a truly rejuvenating digital detox, this is the place to go to. Hats off to Michele and her team of “De La Lunatics” for running a truly fantastic eco-resort. Strangely, the boat ride back to Bocas town, organized by Michele for a price she negotiated expertly on our behalf, was a breeze. Looking back, I wouldn’t mind doing that long trip all over again just to be back at De La Luna. A PSA to anyone traveling into Bocas Del Toro -- carry a little more cash than what you might need for your holiday ahead of getting on the island i.e., in Panama City. The only ATM at the only bank on the island is perennially out of money, and the only other game in town is a Chinese supermarket that charges an exorbitant 10% for any cash withdrawal, that is over and above what your...

  • Michelle's place is absolutley stunning! We woke up with a perfect view of the ocean and the sound of the waves. right infront of the house you have beautiful corals and starfishes to appreciate. The abundance of nature; the trees, the flowers, the animals, was incredible! Michelle was a great host and her cooking is spectacular! It was really interesting to meet her and learn a little about permaculture and sustainable living. It really is a wonderful place to stay!

  • Words don't describe this amazing place properly. Yes, it's a bit off the beaten path - but that's a great thing. This place is magical rustic. The Swiss Family Robinson would be jealous of this place. All of the good things camping by the ocean, the beautiful sunrise and sunset, the quiet and tranquil water, the quiet of the day - but with the comforts of an amazing bed, almost zero bugs, delightful company, and a relaxed environment that just begs you to enjoy. We stayed in the bungalow out over the water for our honeymoon. It was private enough that my wife and I didn't bother with clothes around the house or on the massive deck that begged you to slip into the water. The shower was hot and the bed comfortable and clean. We opted to have Michelle cook for us. This was the best idea we've ever had. Flower salads (yes, you eat flowers here - my wife couldn't get enough), perfect food, fun music, and a choose-your-own-adventure list of activity options were highlights. We chose to use the dug-out canoe, harvest cacao, play catch with the monkey, toss coconuts in the water for the dogs, and have a most memorable time. So, if you like adventure, love good food, don't need your cell phone, like to live comfortably, can be entertained with the world around you, and want the best experience possible - this is your place. Oh, and Michelle is one of the best bartenders ever. If you need internet to have fun, want to be waited on hand and foot, hate beautiful views, need a motor boat to enjoy the water, or take yourself too seriously - leave this place for someone that will love it for what it is: Paradise.

Michelle has an incredibly beautiful property and is the most gracious host. Food is superb, all the amenities, and memories to last a lifetime. This really was the highlight of our trip.

  • A suite at the Hard Rock for less than half price -- what's not to like?! It was just as if we were regular hotel guests, except we were met by our personal concierge -- Ajit's daughter. The suite was clean and quiet, great to have the extra bathroom, and the balcony was frosting on the cake! Great deal!

    Jeffrey2015-06-20T00:00:00Z
  • Great view, clean, has a microwave, can accommodate 3 people. We were asked not to mention to the hotel that the apartment was an Airbnb, which made it difficult to arrange access to the pool area, etc. The pool staff told us we were not allowed to access the pool because his apartment was not showing up as a certified room in their system. I recommend messaging Ajit well in advance to sort everything out and confirm that you will have access to all of the amenities listed (i.e., pool, gym). The hotel itself is very nice, and right across the street from the mall and great restaurants.

  • Wow! This place is amazing! I had great communication with Ajit and his daughter. Check in was a breeze. The suite is to die for! What great views and the bed is so comfortable. Having the amenities of the Hard Rock was so nice. It was a great way to spend the last leg of my vacation. I could sit on that balcony and look out into the city and causeway all day! It was perfect.

  • Everything about this stay was as straightforward as one could hope and expect...awesome apartment (really more than just a one room hotel...two very spacious rooms, 1.5 baths, double balcony and all), open access to all of Hard Rock's facilities including their fantastic gym...hosts very accommodative, we even arrived one hr late at 10p due to flight delay

Casco Viejo (Spanish for Old Quarter), also known as Casco Antiguo or San Felipe, is the historic district of Panama City. Completed and settled in 1673, it was built following the near-total destruction of the original Panamá city, Panamá Viejo in 1671, when the latter was attacked by pirates. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1997. Panama city was founded on August 15 of 1519 and it lasted one hundred and fifty-two years. In January 1671, the Governor Juan Perez de Guzman had it set on fire, before the attack and looting by the pirate Henry Morgan. In 1672, Antonio Fernández de Córdoba initiated the construction of a new city, which was then founded on January 21, 1673. This city was built on a peninsula completely isolated by the sea and a defensive system of walls.[2] Today this place preserves the first institutions and buildings of the modern city of Panama. It is known as Casco Viejo (Spanish for Old Town) More info here: (URL HIDDEN)

Five minutes walking down the hill, you can find Eclypse de Mar restaurant for a nice drink, a tasty meal or a peaceful walk in the private natural reserve. There are just a couple of friendly neighbors nearby, so you will hear only the birds and the waves. Whenever you want you can visit Bastimentos town, take a boat to any of the other islands, enjoy the nightlife of Bocas and come back to the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere that surrounds the house.
  • We had an amazing stay! We were three friends staying for three nights and loved everything about the place, completely surrounded by nature. We even had the chance to see a sloth on our first day! The breakfast was wonderful as well and everyone was extremely nice to us. We wish we could have stayed longer and we look forward to coming back!

  • We absolutely loved our 5 night stay and would return in a heartbeat. Awesome location, close to Bastimentos town, and easy access to cheap boats to Bocas town. The hosts could not possibly be more accommodating and helpful, with area info, activity suggestions, etc. The view from the place is absolutely spectacular and we saw red frogs each day on the hike up along the path. So cute! Don't miss the trip to Monkey Island. You have to book on your own thru them, but I have traveled all over the world, and this is one of the coolest things I have done in my lifetime! Thanks again for an awesome stay! Take care and enjoy paradise, Steven

    Steven2017-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The Jungle House is exactly like what it looks like in the pictures. During the trip we saw countless poison dart frogs, a monkey, a possum, an armadillo, and more! Everyone was right about bringing light luggage-- The hike up to the house is exhausting, even if it is beautiful. Don't forget to bring a flashlight for at night. WARNING: it is hot. There is no breeze unless it's stormy. Be prepared to sweat. If we ever needed anything, we used (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and had an answer in hours. Very nice hostesses! To note, it's really hard to find lunch in Bastimentos. Essentially everywhere is closed until dinner, so head over to Bocas town or plan on eating at Eclypse Del Mar.

  • Very cool place to stay at! Perfect located in The djungle and a ver cozy and calm part of Bastimentos. Dayana and Malena were perfect hoosts, very helpful. Remember though that this is a ECO-bungalow and read The description well before booking 2 weeks.. Me and my girlfriend stayed for 4 nights which was a perfect time:)

    Barbara2015-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Dayana was such a wonderful and hospitable host. Even though it was rainy during our stay, we enjoyed every moment of isle Bastimentos and the relaxed nature of the jungle hill lodge. Wonderful wonderful stay! Highly suggest! Beautiful garden walk too.

    Steve2015-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Great treehouse and is true to the photos. Malena was there to check us in and gave us some great recommendations for things to do in the area. We never ran out of electricity during the night as we were coming into the house fairly late in the evenings after dinners/drinks on the various islands. I would definitely stay in the treehouse again, it was a really unique experience!

    Kevin2015-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The house is incredible. The windows open to a jungle landscape and a breeze runs through the foyer and rooms to cool the unit. You can see a great deal of the bastimentos island and on over to Bocas from the front patio. I saw all the wildlife and more than the ones pictured in the listing. The hosts as well as the neighboring restaurant where you are invited to eat breakfast were incredible. A nature reserve with all the flora and fauna is a short jot from the entry to the residence. I had an fantastic holiday vacation with these gracious hosts.

  • The condo is in a beautiful area and has everything you would need for a nice and relaxing vacation. The building has a nice gym and a great pool area. If you're looking for a quiet and secluded holiday, it's the right place for you. We basically had the entire place to ourselves.

    Sabrina2016-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • We spent 2 weeks at Francisco's condo. Condo is modern, clean and well equiped (2 flat screen TVs, king size bed, washer and dryer, kitchen full equiped). Photos shown (outdoor and indoor) show exactly what you get, so no (bad) surprise there. Francisco is available for question and advises. The condo complex is isolated from everything, a good place to relax and forget about stress. Nothing much to do around there though (and no one around either), a car is absolutly necessary to visit the area or to go get food. While we were there the restaurant opened only for saturday's lunch, so if you don't feel like cooking, you must go out. Colon isn't so far, about 20 min drive from the complex. The beach is a nice site to relax, but we didn't swin there because of medusas...(other beaches in areas...must go by the car.) The pool isnice to, but we were often the only ones there wich was not a problem for us as we enjoyed the isolation...

  • Francisco was very helpful and flexible to help ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The property was nice and well-kept as was the room itself. However, we were the only ones staying at the property, which consists of three multi-story towers. It's great if you want privacy or have a big group and want to do your own thing, but we found it a little unsettling. Apparently the property is packed on the weekends, but if you come during the week expect not to have many other guests around.

    Matthew2015-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We had an wonderful time at Francisco's place. The apartment is located in a very beautiful spot right by the ocean. The apartment was easy to access, very clean and comfortable, and with great views. Francisco responded to our messages promptly, giving us accurate information about the apartment and surrounding area. Overall everything was excellent.

My place is close to great restaurants, nightlife, and attractions of the old quarter. You’ll love my place because of the high ceilings, the views, the location, the people, and the ambiance. My place is good for couples, friends, families with kids, and pets. New soundproof windows.
It's a complete apartment for the guests to use. It has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and the second one with a bunk bed, bottom is a double bed and top a single. A fully equipped kitchen is available with an open living room area with a sofa and a dining table. Outside is a huge terrace wrapping the apartment. The terrace has flowers, a long chair and a hammock. Has hot water, washer /drier and good WiFi. It is possible to park on the street free of charge. Casco viejo is the preferred destination for tourist since you can walk to the best restaurants and bars. It is a very lively area which is why I put sound proof windows and insulation on the walls. I am constantly giving maintenance to the place, painting, getting new sheets / towels, etc.
There are tons of restaurants, bars, shops and historic sites to see in Casco Viejo. I have an apartment manual with suggestions that is constantly being updated as new things open all the time. I try places first before recommending them. The fish market is in the entrance of casco viejo and the mercado de abastos (produce market) is like 7 minutes in taxi. There is a Rey supermarket like 5 minutes walking which is fancier than Machetazo supermarket with is also 5 minutes in the opposite direction. Cinta costera (street in the water) is right before casco viejo and you can walk there. You can rent bicycles at Hippies downstairs and go ride in that road or go all the way to the Amador Causeway. The Canal is about 20-25 minutes and Albrook Mall 15 minutes.
  • Ursula was quick to respond and helpful. The area was very 'local'. The house was well equipped but needs more sheets. The area felt safe enough. The stray dogs were noisy all night which was one of the only issues.

  • The house is very nice and looks recently remodeled. Ursula is fast to respond with any questions you might have. I like the balcony to look over the local city life. I recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the Casco Viejo area of Panama City.

    Jinx2017-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Really cute, clean, and central apartment. It is exactly as described. Everything in Casco Viejo is within walking distance. Because it is really close to the nightlife and neighbors seems to like to party, it can be very noisy until very late at night (and during the day too). Besides that, the apartment was perfect!! Communication with the host was always within 20 minutes.

    Thomas2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This two bedroom apartment is perfectly situated for spending time in Casco Viejo. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the activity in the street. We were within a couple of blocks of many great restaurants, shops and bars and we could always get an Uber within 5 minutes if we had to leave Casco Viejo. We recommend this apartment for maximum 4 people.

Designed and built by an artist, this wooden three bedroom house is on stilts on a beautiful bit of calm sea on the edge of the main town. You can swim in the sea around the house or by the beach on the other side of the road just 50 meters away.
This is a house which I designed and made. You will have the whole house to yourself. It is made entirely of wood and is on stilts over the calmest bit of sea with a wooden walkway past the mangroves to the entrance. I tried to make my house into a work of art so I hope you enjoy your stay.
The house is on stilts over clear, clean water. If you swim in the sea around the house you will see thousands of fish including trumpet fish and barracuda, coral, sea cucumbers, and sometimes stingrays. Hummingbirds come past the house in the early morning, they sometimes nest in the trees behind. You can sometimes hear the howler monkeys when it rains. You can see how beautiful the location is from the map; on this side of the road is the calm peaceful sea and over the other side of the road is the beach with bigger waves, so you have a choice of places to swim. The house is on the edge of the main town of Bocas Del Toro, in the direction of some nice beaches and jungle. This is a very safe, real neighbourhood of locals and expats. In my opinion it's the best place to be located on this amazing island.

    Julie2017-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Filiberto was so hospitable! He picked us up and dropped us off from the airport, and took us to the grocery store when we arrived. The house is wide open so you can a nice breeze, although this does invite bugs so be prepared! Rooms are spacious and clean. The house is far enough out of town to be quiet and it's only a $1 taxi ride into town.

    Rachel2017-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Filiberto picked my two girlfriends and I up from the dock when we arrived to the island on the ferry. He took us on a tour of the island and then we all stopped for coffee and breakfast. We were immediately comfortable--it honestly felt like I'd known him for years. He then took us to the house which was exactly what we expected. It's beautiful and peaceful and the view is breathtaking. The location is perfect--we rented bikes that we used to get into town and there's a nice beach across the street. We were sad to leave but will probably be back and will gladly use this property again.

  • Filiberto is a super nice host that didn't make it hard for us to feel comfortable in his wonderful house. The house in directly on the water and just 50 m from the beach, even though I would reommend other prettier beaches for swimming. It is a 25 min walk to the main street on the island, but there are taxis everywhere, so that it never was a problem to get to the place where life happens. We were a group of 5 girls ( age 17-19) and we felt really safe at Filliberto's place. We did everything right by choosing him and his house for our stay in Bocas. Thank you, danke and grazie!!

    Tiana2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Filiberto's place is one of most interesting places we have ever stayed while on holidays. The house open to to the sea on the ground floor level changes as the day moves along to reflect the weather conditions and light. The high ceilings enhance the sense of space. We found ourselves wanting to spend more and more time here at the expense of seeing Bocas!! The bedrooms were comfortable and filled with Filiberto' wonderful artwork. Filiberto was a wonderful host and quite an inspirational man. I would love to have spent more time in his company. My wife was initially worried about being so close to the elements as she is fearful of insects etc.. It wasn't an issue at all and we are hoping to get back to Bocas and Filiberto in the future. Thank you Filiberto!! We hope to see you again in the future. Next time you sail across the Atlantic you might stop at Dublin :) Damien, Avril and Max

Old Bank è un locale, villaggio caraibico.
  • We stayed at the SeaMonkey Bungalo for 5 days & it was truly spectacular. The view is absoutely amazing, the bungalo is cute, well decorated & you just feel off in your own little paradise. We highly recommend sleeping with the doors wide open at night; the breeze is welcomed & the atmosphere really adds to your sleeping/morning rise. Ryan & Stacy were available to assist in whatever manner they could & very quick to respond. The tour around the island from Ryan was very informative, free, & helpful! Breakfast brought to you is awesome & tasted great! Things to note: There are a lot of stray dogs in Panama that are not in the greatest shape, so that can be hard for animal lovers. There is also trash all over. Nothing to do with Ryan or Stacy, just in general. Also, almost nowhere on Basti takes credit card & there isn't an atm on the island, so bring cash. Lots of fun hiking to do & exploring, but take note of the weather, take correct gear & shoes (can be muddy when it rains), plenty of bug spray (Picaridin or Deet work best), sunscreen, & realize a "hill" in Basti, is like a mountain in other regions of the world, lol!! Feel free to message with any questions or wanting even more details, we're happy to share. Highly recommended!!

  • Stacy and Ryan were the ultimate hosts. Ryan met us at the airport, transferred us over to Basti and then gave us a tour of the island. They were in communication with us at all times - checking in to make sure everything was OK and offering up possible excursions, etc. The bungalow was exactly as described, clean and has an incredible view out over the water. Water taxis are readily available and most sites are about a 5 minute ride away. Even though their restaurant wasn't open while we were visiting, their staff delivered a delicious breakfast every morning. In short, I highly recommend booking with Stacy and Ryan if you find your travels taking you through Bocas.

  • What a lovely stay we had. The room itself is so nice and the view is incredible, out onto the sea with taxi boat's coming and going. Kevin, who brought us to the room is a great help, as are Ryan and Stacey. The girls running the restaurant serve up a lovely breakfast and you can have a good old chat with them. Tom, who lives on the island provides great tours, although we were finished from our previous travels, so we just relaxed -which was perfect for us. Bastimentos is probably the most unique place I have ever been, a real Caribbean town and a place like no other. Some lovely restaurants, catering for all, from vegan to local food to more high end stuff. Alvin's & Kache's and The Firefly were our favourites. Bring an extension lead if you are to use electrics on the terrace, as there are only plugs nearer the bed side of the room.

  • What a wonderful place! Ryan took very good care of us, from the moment we arrived until the very end. The bungalows are a perfect place to relax, and even if located on an island, they allow you to easily go around and visit the surrounding area. A special mention to the restaurant, and the delicious breakfast! Thanks again for the stay :)

  • Stacy & Ryan were really nice hosts for our stay at Sea Mookey, they are very kind and helpful on how to come to the little overwater paradise and what to do, recommending the best beach and restaurants in Bocas! However they also have a great restaurant were they serve breakfast you can choose in the Menu and were you can also have a nice dinner, do not miss it, it is delicious !! Bungalows are authentic and comfortable and taxiboat will drop you on & off directly on the deck

  • Ryan and Stacy provide an amazing experience for everyone who walks into their establishment, even non guests. They truly care and want everyone to have the best time possible. Providing excellent recommendations for excursions and they even call to arrange it for you. They went above and beyond arranging travel for us to and from their location. Breakfast and dinner never disappointed, only the freshest food was served, literally made to order! This was the best on our Panama tour. Waking up to the ocean in a comfortable bed and breathing the clean ocean air all night is amazing, make sure to keep the door open to the ocean. I am very thankful for their hospitality and help during our stay!

Old Bank è un locale, villaggio caraibico.
  • Ryan was really helpful in getting us to the place and familiarizing us with the little town. He knew everyone, so it made it easy for us to get a good tour to go dolphin watching and snorkeling with his good friend Roberto (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!). The place was great, we are slightly bummed that the restaurant is under construction, as we would have liked to meet the other guests and mingle with some locals. We would definitely recommend this place!

  • Absolutely great place to stay at. I would say one of the best places to stay in the bocas. Breath taking view, spectacular accommodations by everyone involved here. Much thanks to Ian for the great breakfasts and dinners. He recommended we go on a tour with Bastimentos alive and we are so glad we did. Antwon took us to the zapatillos islands where he cooked us his fresh catch of the day fish. 10/10 would recommend to all to stay here. Bed was very comfortable and there is a nice breeze that comes through the windows at night. Only thing that was bad was that we couldn't stay longer!

  • Stacy and Ryan are amazing. They go above and beyond to make you comfortable and feel right at home. They made our stay in Basti so easy and incredible. Can't thank them enough. The accommodations were so comfortable and beautiful. Sitting on our private deck at night watching the sunset was probably one of my favourite things about our stay.

    Lauren2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • If the reason AirBNB exists is to give travelers the opportunity to feel at home in a new place, then Stacy and Ryan's place should be on the home. The entire experience was flawless, but there are 3 things I want to call out. 1. The accommodation. As other reviews have said, the epic pictures don't even do the property justice. You won't believe the bungalow's seclusion, the bed's comfortableness or the deck's view 2. The food. The Sea Monkey restaurant that Stacy & Ryan run was phenomenal. I don't mean "good for the island" or "good for Panama"... I mean like Damnnn. I live in a culinary city and each meal I had was full of flavor and creativity. 3. The community. Staying at the Sea Monkey makes you feel a part of Bastimento island. Yes, you have your privacy in your bungalow, but when we went to dinner we were able to meet locals and travelers and learn about the islands history. It was so easy to fall in love with Bastimento because we felt we got the "real experience" If it isn't clear enough alreadt... we will be back

    Brett2017-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at The Sea Monkey! The overwater Bungalow was much greater than it looks in the pictures displayed in the page. It is very spacious, cozy beds, very cool bathroom and great decoration. The deck is fantastic, you can see the sunset from your room, take a bath in the sea, or just chill and enjoy the view. We saw everyday Dolphins in front of our room, also a couple of sea rays!!! Stacy and Ryan take care of small details that make you feel more than welcome and upgrade your experience at Bastimentos (Coordinate the boats for you and suggest you the best things to do according with your budget and time). Ryan’s cocktails are famous in the island (Try the East End Country Club), Stacy’s food is excellent and for sure the best breakfast in town! We are looking forward to visit again, the place is beautiful and our awesome host upgraded the whole experience. Ivan y Shiara

  • Ryan couldn't have been more helpful, meeting us at the airport and showing us around the island. The breakfast every morning was lovely and the island is gorgeous. He made some great recommendations as well including Blue Coconut, firefly restaurant and the chocolate tour at Up in the Hill. The bed was huge and so comfy. The location is great at the edge of the village but because of the fantastic waterfront location sound does carry so it can be a bit noisy on a Saturday night which is a little unexpected. Highly recommended.

    Nicola2016-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Bastimento is an incredible island, Stacy and Ryan's place is beautiful, the view from the bed makes it almost impossible to get up and adventure the islands, but force yourself. They were great hosts, gave a tour of the island when we arrived, showed us where to go for the activities we were trying to experience while there. Stacy even came and met us at the water taxi to bring us there, I still owe her $6 for the ride, a great excuse to return to paradise!!

    Ben2016-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at The Sea Monkey. The bungalow is just as amazing as pictured in photos. The bed is SO comfortable. Also, the breakfast in the morning was the perfect extra touch. Ryan's tour of Bastimentos was fantastic and very necessary as it is very different from Bocas Town and it helps give you a good understanding of the area around you. Definitely recommend!

• This eco cabana was perfect. The cabana was clean and comfortable, totally functional with a fantastic outdoor shower. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves and waking up to the sounds from the jungle was amazing. I would strongly suggest renting an ATV throughout your stay here to maximize your enjoyment. Getting into town for dinner or getting to Starfish beach is challenging without it. We rented the atv for the week and it was awesome. Sterling is a great host and was very friendly, great communication for check-in and check-out and just a nice guy all around. Perfect experience here...will absolutely stay again when we return! Thanks Sterling!

  • Best Decision Ever! This cabin was perfect for us for our 11 night stay. The cabin feels really remote, yet you have fairly easy access town to explore other islands. The nature, which is what we came for, is really intense! We saw a lot of wildlife just from the cabin deck, it was really a feast for the eyes and ears! The beach is pristine and we enjoyed sunrises and sunsets every day. The beach bar down the road is the coolest, very chill, wonderful Saturday bbqs. We enjoyed cooking our own meals over a campfire and picking limes from the trees on property for our cervesas. It felt like we were on a small free range farm in the jungle right across from a breathtaking beach. The cabin was really private and very comfortable, no bugs inside and not too hot at night. Sterling is a really kind, generous host and was always available. This vacation was the best- romantic, adventurous, relaxing and full of natural beauty. We came back to Alaska truly feeling truly grateful and lucky to be a part of this beautiful world. If I come back to Bocas, I really hope to be able to stay here again. It was perfect.

  • Sterling was super nice! The Cabana was like a little adventure.

    Julia2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great time honeymooning at the cabana for 3 nights. We rented the atv from Sterling and would highly recommend it, as there are amazing beaches to explore and you are way out there, so it is nice to go into town on your own time. The atv trails were a blast too, and his atv is better than the ones you can rent. The cabana was definitely small for both of us, but we easily made it work and fell asleep to both waves crashing and the sounds of the jungle.

    Davis2016-03-27T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Bocas Del Toro was perfect! We chose this awesome cabin for our 2 week honeymoon. The cabin is amazing and Sterling went above and beyond to make sure we were set up for a wonderful experience. The cabin is a very nice, secluded getaway. The kitchen is perfect and very clean. You live entirely off the grid here. The beach is close by and beautiful! The town is a little bit of a trek (45 minute bike ride), but Sterling provides bikes to rent. I suggest stocking up on water and food in town to limit your trips back and forth. And there are no street lights, so unless you taxi home, it gets dark and biking can be challenging. But all in all, this was an awesome honeymoon retreat and I highly recommend Sterling and his Eco-Cabin.

    Joe2014-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • We were so lucky to find this lovely little cabin!! We have had a wonderful 8 days stay. The setting of the cabin is amazing, a 5 minute walk from pristine Bluff beach in the midst of nature with a view of the forest from the porch. In the morning you wake up to the sounds of all kinds of birds, frogs and howler monkeys. The cabin looks great, built with a lot of care and love. Good bed with a good matress. Sterling is a friendly host and he is very keen on letting you have a great time at his cabin.

    Gerard2014-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Sterling is a very nice and hepful host. He will always try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. I had a very pleasant stay in the eco-cabin at Bluff beach. The cabin is small but has everything you could need, and the surroundings are really nice! It is just 35 min bike ride from Bocas del Toro town, but also you have some bars just 5 min walking from the cabin. I would for sure stay there again if I go back to Bocas del Toro. Thanks Sterling!

  • Nienke was a great host. Waited up for us the day we arrived because our plane was later getting in (130am) she helped us book a tour of the canal and gave us a lot of information about the area she lives. (Where to eat and what is walking distance). It's really a great location. Close to everything you need. We walked to casco viejo along the water (Balboa ave) took an hour but it was beautiful. Would stay there again when coming back to Panama. B 37 Canada

  • Nienke is a great host, she has been really helpful and kind. The apartment is in a good location, very central. The room and bathroom are a good size and very clean and its great to have use of the kitchen. We would highly recommend!

  • I had a great stay with Nienke in Panama city. The apartment is conveniently located in the nice neighborhood of marbella, its within a 10-15 minute walking distance of two big malls, el cangrejo, and calle Uruguay. A taxi to casco viejo is only $3. The apartment itself is very nice, great shower, and I enjoyed using the pool and sauna downstairs. Nienke was a great host as well, she gave some good tips and I enjoyed chatting about our experiences that had led us to be where we were. Recommended!

    Chris2014-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had a nice time staying at Nienke's place. It is located close to the Multicentro mall which is very convenient. It was quite easy to walk in the neighborhood. I enjoyed being in close proximity to the Cinta Costera. I often walked there. Anytime I had a question Nienke was happy to help me. I liked her little kitty too.

    Lisa2014-06-01T00:00:00Z
  • My friend and me enjoyed the stay at Nienke's. She is very hospitable, caring and friendly, yet respects privacy. She was very quick to respond to our request and provided all necessary instructions how to reach the place as well as brief get around the city. Casco Viejo is in a walking distance from apartment along the Avenida Balboa, so that was great for a first visit to Panama. It is also very close to Multicentro mall (where I could catch up with last minute shopping before taking off for the beach). Room is spacious with fen/aircon and building has a pool for a fresh re-start after a busy sightseeing in a hot city. There is a small shop where you can buy breakfast 'essentials' and several food stops if you did not make it during the day or feel too tired too cook ;) Great value for the price! Wanted to stay again on the way out of Panama, but it was 'sold out'.

  • The host was very flexible and accommodating--she was leaving town soon after and was willing to allow me to stay on short notice. Her home was very comfortable, clean, and was exactly as written on the website. Her place is in a great location--walking distance to the Multicentro.

• Our stay at Wendy's cabin was absolutely wonderful! Stunning views all around. Wendy was a welcoming and gracious host, she picked us up from the airport and helped us get acclimated to the area. Her staff was available the whole time for questions and also for rides into town. This was the perfect location to disconnect, relax, and experience what Boquete has to offer. We will absolutely be back!!

    Jenna2016-10-29T00:00:00Z

  • This location and the Lost Waterfalls hikes are beautiful and like nothing we've ever seen before! Wendy and her guys were on point picking us up, taking us around town, and helping us get to/from the cabin. This is about as off-the-grid as you can get so here are some things to consider when packing: - Citronella candles or bug spray: we brought bug spray but still got pretty bitten up. In retrospect, we would have packed some candles but didn't think about it and couldn't find any in town. - Toiletries for the shower: it's never a sure bet with Airbnb listings, so just a reminder for those who aren't used to Airbnb :) - Ponchos or rain jackets: we were so happy we had used these and our umbrella (the staff also lent us one) since we were caught in the rain a few times - Pack some flip flops to quickly put on and take off between the house and bathroom, but of course, wear your best hiking boots for the hikes to/from the cabin and waterfalls Some house manual pro tips! - Use the kettle to heat up some water for washing dishes since there is only hot water in the bathroom and not the kitchen - Right knob in the shower is the hot water... it's not labeled so it took a bit of trial and error to get the temp just right! - Bring a deck of cards or packable board game! You're really going off the grid! - Take advantage of stopping at a grocery store in town to pick up perishable goods! The hike to the house will definitely give you the munchies and once you get there, for the evening, you'll want to settle in for the night

    Tammy2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing. Beautiful views in contact with nature. Nice for hiking to the waterfalls nearby.

  • Wendy is a fantastic host. She called once the booking was made to make sure I understood the finer details of the cabin ...& then met us in Boquete & took us to the cabin after picking-up some groceries. Oh, I should also mention that she arranged transportation to and from David, which was very convenient and inexpensive. The cabin itself is located on a hillside surrounded by lawns & flower gardens. It overlooks the valley and hill on the opposite side. One could not wish for more spectacular scenery! When at the cabin, we spent most of our time sitting on the porch enjoying the humming birds and sounds of nature. The walk to and from the three falls took about 3 hrs and was filled with all kinds of bird song & plant life. All in all this was a very pleasant break from every day life. I'll be back :)

    Owen2016-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great place to unwind and lose the distractions of a busy life. The hikes are challenging but so worth it when you see the falls. Go prepared to go to bed early, and sleep like a rock. I had interesting dreams at that altitude! The caretaker's dog Rocky is a bonus.

    Dawn2017-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous cabin right at the entrance of the MOST beautiful hikes in the Boquete area, 'Lost Waterfalls'!!!

    Michael2017-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • You come to this place for the epic view of the mountains and valley below and the peace and tranquility of the countryside. This is a unique experience and something you simply will not find in a hostel or hotel. There is a brief but intense hike up to the cabin but completely worth it. This is not for the person who finds comfort in modern amenities as it is simple without electricity or heat. The place is clean and beds are comfortable and there are HOT showers!! The care takers live right above the cabin and although they only speak Spanish- they can help with whatever you need. Pack warm clothes as it gets very cold at night.

Tropical boutique located 15 minutes outside the hustle of Panama City. This newly constructed home lies nestled in the hills of Caceres on a 5 acre finca full of tropical trees, birds, and a manicured grounds.
Guest are able to enjoy the entire 2,000 sq ft home and pool (not fenced) is also available just a few steps from back patio. High speed wi-fi is available and Smart TV. The home comfortably accommodates 9 people. AC in master bedroom and one guest room.
We are a family from the US that loved Las Colinas de Caceres because of its proximity to the Panama City and its location in a typical tranquil Panamanian neighborhood. This is a great place to stay if you are looking to stay out of the tourist areas and see first hand what life is like in Panama!
  • Sandra and her family were fantastic and their guest home is absolutely beautiful. They helped make our Panama vacation perfect. Thanks.

  • Sandra's place is in a fantastic location that brings you into the hills outside of Panama City. The house is beautiful and extremely comfortable. I woke up every morning and drank coffee while walking around the grounds. We loved having Pancho as our neighbor, sharing a banana with him each morning. The property is in a great location to drive into the city or off to the beach for the day. Sandra and her family were very welcoming and a great resource for restaurants and places to visit. We had an amazing time at this location and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Michael

  • We really enjoyed our family's quick trip to Arraijan. Tropical Haven was the perfect spot to relax but have quick day trips to Panama City, El Valle, Cosco Veijo, ... The property manager was attentive to our needs. We were issued a phone to inquire about travel and personal recommendations at a moments notice. The pool out our backdoor was a perfect spot at the end of each day to relax and play after our adventures. Often we would cook up a dinner in the full kitchen and enjoy it pool side. Highly recommend this perfect hidden spot.

  • Sandra's house is the perfect central location. The house was comfortable and clean and felt like a home away from home. Sandra and her family went above and beyond to welcome us, from setting us up with a driver to pick us up from the airport to breakfast in the fridge for our first night stay and countless other things that made us feel like we were visiting old friends. We will definitely visit again on our next Panama adventure!

  • We loved our stay at Sandra's! Sandra and her family were tremendously helpful and generous with their hospitality. The house is beautiful, comfortable and relaxing. It has all of the major amenities you need to feel at home, and was a great size for the seven adults we had staying in the house. Our family took full advantage of the pool on the property and enjoyed the outdoor living space as well. While there, we were able to adventure into different areas surrounding Panama City on day trips and enjoyed the connections that Sandra had with guides, rides, and recommended attractions. While the house is about 20-30 minutes outside of the city, you can catch a taxi a little ways down the hill from her house or arrange an Uber to pick you up. For longer day trip excursions we were able to arrange a private guide through Sandra to take us on tours of Playa Blanca, Panama City, Gamboa, and El Valle. I can't emphasize enough how kind and helpful Sandra was during our stay! It was an amazing trip!

  • Sandra and her entire family including all of pets made us feel welcome. She was able to give us valuable advise on best place to get gas where to shop for food places to see best way to get there and panapass Tropical Haven is indeed just that A place where you can relax and unwind. If you enjoy bird watching, this is the place to be. You will see many different species in the most vibrant colors. Bring your binoculars and camera. The property is exquisite. Climb to the top and see views of the mountains in the distance. There are many types of plants, trees and flowers that will amaze you. The location of Tropical Haven is perfect. From here it was easy for us to visit old Panama, eat ceviche with the locals and pick up some Corvina at the fish market. We visited Mariflores locks and really got up close and personal as we drove over the Gatun locks on the way to visit Fort San Lorenzo ( a world heritage site). It was on the road to Fort San Lorenzo that we stopped to see a troup of howler monkeys and saw the toucans. A short drive to Gamboa to take the boat to the Barro Colorado National Monument. It is the location of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute where scientists from many nations come to study one of the last untouched tropical rainforests. On our last day we went to the Gamboa Rainforest resort, took the cable cars to the top of a mountain and then climbed the viewing tower. The best views of the canopy, tree sloths, panama canal and the indian village. None of this would have been possible with out the hospitality of Sandra and her family. Thank you again for sharing your lovely home with us. It is a memory that we will treasure for a lifetime Anna Susi and Marcus P.S. Please Scratch Pancho's back for us.

Enjoy your own tropical garden terrace at the Purple House - Over The Water Rentals. Your home away from home in paradise. Views of the bay can be enjoyed from the public deck spaces or wind down on your own covered garden deck with couch, dining table & that all important hammock. We have snorkel gear, a paddleboard & kayaks. Located close to town/airport in a quiet neighborhood. The house has 2 double bedrooms, spacious hot water shower, handmade organic toiletries, & fully equipped kitchen
The Purple House 1 is alongside Purple House 2 and are a mirror of each other. Together they can be opened up into one large home. Each is rented separately or you can rent them both together. Purple House One has two bedrooms upstairs with the master bedroom having a walk in wardrobe. Both bedrooms have air-conditioning and fans. Downstairs you will find the kitchen with dining table for indoor eating. There is also a pantry for food and luggage storage and a large sized bathroom with hot water shower. To the rear of the property is a garden whilst to the front is a very large covered relaxation deck built over the water with ample dining and lounging space within a tropical garden setting. The Purple houses don't have unobstructed views of the bay as they are located behind the Orange house, but there are view decks open to our guests to relax on, enjoy the sunsets and take in the views. The kitchen is equipped with a large fridge/freezer and a 4 burner stove and oven. Large double doors lead out onto the outside terrace which has a dining table and chairs, a large lounger as well as the all important hammocks. The large outdoor deck is covered by a high roof for protection from the sun whilst allowing for the cool breezes to pass through. We also have two kayaks on the property which are available for guests to make use of free of charge. And if you want to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding, we have an inflatable SUP that you can try out. The Purple House One is ideal for families and an additional small cot bed can be set up should there be a need for it. If Purple House One is booked up, check the dates for Purple House Two.
Saigon Bay is located just 15 minutes walk from town or a quick $1 taxi ride. This is a local third world neighbourhood, so is colorful, rustic, authentic, and a lot less touristy and as a result, not as well kept as resort locations around the islands. If you want to experience the island as the locals do, then this is the location for you. Due to the garbage issue on the islands, we ask all our guests to help us recycle in order to reduce our own personal footprint. There is a local supermarket a few minutes walk from the house where basics can be purchased. We can provide drinking water on the property for a small charge.
  • Claudia was wonderful! So helpful, positive, and friendly. The house was adorable - exactly what we were looking for. We were lucky that the front house was empty so that we had access to the Ocean View porch. If that is important to you - I would spend the extra money to book the front house. We were walking distance / 1 dollar cab ride to town, minutes from the beach. The local panamanian neighbors were friendly. Everything was clean, well put together, and thoughtfully decorated. Beautiful!

  • This place is off the beaten track but totally worth it. One of the best air bnb hosts that I have had!

    Lauren2017-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this place! The weather was perfect for 5 days so we spent all our home time outside in the hammock or out on the dock. Incredible sunsets and kayaks you can borrow to go snorkeling. AC in the bedrooms helps a lot to sleep at night.

  • The Pink house was a lovely place to spend some days. The kids loved it! The owners and their children are super friendly. We could use their canoes and they brought us some fishing lines. Our girls had a great time, meaning that the parents could relax on the porch and actually read a book! :-) After 2 months of traveling this place felt like a home!

  • Very quiet at night, safe place to stay. Spent the entire time out on the deck over the water. Ate meals and drank coffee out on deck, spent a lot of time in the hammock. Hosts are wonderful, very responsive and accommodating for reasonable requests. Super relaxing place with just what you need. 3 minute walk to local market and taxi pick up. 15 min walk to town square with restaurants if don't want to use taxi. Walkable to brewery. Couldn't have been more pleased. Highly recommend!

  • We had a great time at the puple house. The outside of the complex (there are 5 houses in the complex) looks very run down and dirty, but dont let that fool you. Once inside the house and the complex itself is very nice. There is one orange house in front of the purple house which blocks the view to the ocean, but that is the only negative feedback I can think of. We had an aswome time!! ill go back in a flash.

  • We had a lovely stay here. We booked this last minute and they got back to us very quickly which was much appreciated. Location is great, breakfast is great. Only issue I had was the mattresses are very firm which I'm not a fan of. My boyfriend slept just fine though.

    Kim2016-04-17T00:00:00Z
  • It is not like the pic on their Airbnb site. It is an expensive surfer hostel in a seedy, unsafe neighborhood.

  • It was a pleasure to stay at Lula's! Josh and Chad were very welcoming and generous with their time recommending things to do nearby. The rooms are spotless, the house is very safe and the breakfast each morning was delicious! We'd definitely stay there again.

  • Lula's was a wonderful place to stay overnight in Bocas Town before our trip out to Punta Viejo, Bastimentos. The B&B is off the beaten path from the main drag (Calle 3), which was great because it was very quiet at night and quite peaceful. However, you are only a 5-10 minute walk from everything, and it's very safe, even at night. We stayed in room 3 and it was as described. The mattress was very hard for my liking, but my husband though it was comfortable, so you may or may not like. The air conditioning was great! There is an honor bar on the back deck with a fridge filled with beer and soda - you take what you like and write it down, and pay $1 each when you leave. A nice touch. Chad and Josh were friendly hosts, and we met some nice folks from other countries. The breakfast was very tasty; be sure to ask for the toast made with coconut milk, it was delicious! If we visit Bocas Town again, we would definitely stay at Lula's again. Thanks for the hospitality guys!

  • We stayed at Lula's for 3 nights and it was a wonderful experience. The room was a good size, the hosts were very knowledgeable about things to do, and the breakfast was a great start to our days. There's a menu of items to choose from and you pay the tab at the end of your stay. There's also a community fridge stocked with drinks of all kinds that you may choose from and also pay the tab at the end of your stay. This was a very convenient amenity. Lula's is a couple blocks off the main street of town which makes it nice and quiet. The large porches are nice for relaxing in the evenings and watching the birds swarm in and out to the bird feeders. Josh and Chad are a very pleasant couple and even let us hitch a ride on their boat over to another island for lunch one day. The bed is made and room cleaned every day by the staff. The hot water showers were much needed after lots of sightseeing and activities. The beds and pillows are extra firm and the linens are very comfy. There was a safe in our room which was great for keeping our valuables in during the day. Lula's is a very comfortable BnB and our only regret is that we didn't stay longer!

  • Staying at Lulas B&B was very nice. They are located off the main drag so that you can have privacy and quiet. The building is clean and kept up well and the rooms are quaint but nice. It felt safe and secure and breakfast had a bunch of choices and was yummy. Josh and Chad are American expats and we're both welcoming and helpful with directions, suggestions, and anything else we needed. Great spot to stay and I will be back if I'm ever in Bocas again.

  • One of the best places we have been during our trip to Costa rica and Panama. A bit pricey compared to others "similar" places, but this one excels. The one dollar fridge is a plus! Chad was a great host.

  • It was a wonderful experience! Chad and Josh were great host and always pointed us in the right direction.the location was in walking distance to the city center. The breakfast was very good each morning. An overall nice and welcoming experience.

• Monica and Juan are wonderful hosts. The apartment is kept very clean and neat. The kitchen is very well kitted out with anything you can need. The bathrooms are big, with nice showers. Our room was very comfortable, the air-con works very well and the bed and linen are lovely. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests in the comfy common areas. The Wi-Fi was a little slow, which is fine if you aren't needing it for work, but my hubby needed a faster internet for work. So if you're just going to use it for light browsing it's perfect :D We would definitely book this accommodation again!

  • I never stay anywhere else but here. It is quiet, clean, simple, and a fraction of the price for one of the hotels right nearby--of course with a balcony, kitchen, laundry, and fantastic concierge service by Monica's son Juan. I stay here about a dozen times a year and I have never, ever been disappointed. Love the Speakeasy

  • I lites a lot staying at monica's. The location is very good. The room and the whole flat are clean. Lorena was really helpful. They came to pick me up in the Airport. Your private cabana is a spacious one bedroom (35X35ft), bathroom and private swim/tan platform. The cabana is fully furnished so that you can thoroughly enjoy your private experience without the added luggage. For our Eco-conscious tourists, the cabana is solar powered and we have rain catchments to supply the freshwater. The swim platform features a netted area so that you can relax by counting the starfish, or watching the bio-luminescence light up the ocean as you enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the evening.
  • We had the most amazing few days at the Blue Coconut. All of the staff were so helpful and welcoming, especially Juan, who would bring us breakfast and coffee to our private patio each morning. You won't have an issue catching a water taxi since there are plenty of visitors at the Blue Coconut during the day. The scene is lively during the day, but peaceful and quiet at night with a hammock net on the deck to stargaze. This was truly a special experience which we couldn't recommend highly enough. Don't second guess it and book this cabana!

    Brian2016-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic location and wonderful hosts! We stayed for 4 nights and would love to come back one day. Best part is being able to jump right into the water and swim straight to the Blue Coconut bar. Make sure to ask Stuart what the bar is named after! :-)

    Maarten2015-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Completely incredible experience. Sick location, incredibly peaceful at night and right where you want to be during the day. Don't know that you can find a better overwater bungalow for location, quality, and experience.

    Cary2016-05-30T00:00:00Z
  • So beautiful. There is a party at the blue coconut every Friday afternoon, so that's the only time you won't have complete peace and quite. Bring food from town because it's a 5$ boat ride to town each person and 5$ back .... Would definitely stay again if ever back in Bocas !

    Regan2017-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a WONDERFUL stay in our bungalow and it made our honeymoon so special! It felt isolated yet lively with the restaurant and host was accommodating and helpful. Only advice is to be careful of the bungalow steps as we both got a rash from them. Such a magical place and we hope to return someday!

    Melody2017-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is gorgeous! Must stay here when you come to Bocas. The listing mentions that you're off the grid here, limited electric and no hot water but you don't even think about it when you're staying in paradise. The Blue Coconut has great food, drinks and snorkeling too

    Tina2016-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary and couldn't have been happier. Sheila and her staff treat you like family and go above and beyond what you would expect in such a remote area. Sheila even went as far as getting special food for my wife who has food allergies. If you're looking for a tranquil, remote, Eco-friendly piece of over-water paradise, this is the place for you. Water is crystal clear and there's coral and fish everywhere for amazing snorkeling. If you're a dog lover, Wilson the cabana dog will also gladly join you on a stand-up paddle board trip around the island. The food at the Blue Coconut is great and the freshly made cocktails are even better. Given the place runs on solar, be prepared to not have much juice to charge your cell phones, but that should be the least of your worries here! The cabana itself is incredible, and falling asleep to the sound of the water or witnessing a storm from it is absolutely beautiful. Coffee and breakfast out on the deck in the morning was a treat! The area has 24/7 readily available water taxis to take you around anywhere you want so be sure to explore Bocas and the surrounding islands. The local staff has great recommendations that you can trust. Huge thank you to Shiela, Juan, Brenda, Mario, Nicholas and Roger for making this trip one of the most memorable ones of a lifetime. We truly loved our time here and we hope to come back!!!

  • This Air BNB is one of a kind. It is in an amazing location in a remote part of Bocas del Toro on Isla Solarte. Its perfect for snorkeling and swimming in the crystal clear water, and sunbathing on the amazing deck. It must be one of the best air bib's available for somewhere unique and a once in a lifetime experience. If you're looking for a secluded tropical getaway this is perfect, the cabin is amazing. Only things to bare in mind are that there is no stove/kettle/fridge so you cannot cook your own food. This would be good, as at the time of year we went it got dark at 6pm so water taxis to any shops/restaurants were double the price when it got dark. Also you have to get a water taxi everywhere from this cabin - so bare that in mind as an extra cost. Also in the rain it makes it difficult to do anything when staying there. The host family were great - and own the next door restaurant which is open 12-6pm.

  • Karine and Eric were phenomenal hosts! We appreciated how they were so responsive to our requests both in communicating with them prior to the trip and during our 5 night stay. It was apparent that they wanted to do everything they could to make our stay enjoyable, and they were so fun, kind, and easy to get along with. Karine is just the sweetest, and makes incredible meals and chocolate treats! Eric was kind enough to take us to Dolphin Bay, Bocas del Toro, and on a kayaking trip. The lodge and set-up itself was perfect. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and the chance to kayak, snorkel, paddle board, fish, and spend time in the underwater hammock and getting to know Karine, Eric, Karine's father (who was also visiting at the time), and their dogs and parrot! Would highly recommend, and definitely like to go back ourselves again!

  • Fantastic accommodations in the most idyllic location with the most amazing hosts! Do not pass up the chance to stay here. There are lots of activities to keep you busy or just lounge on your deck as the lodge gently rocks. And then there's the food! Karine makes fantastic food and you must try the "sweet of the day" everyday as it's different. Mmmmm coconut cake and homemade ice cream Prepare to gain weight lol. Feeding the fish bread off our deck was definitely a highlight. The water is so clear which also makes for great snorkelling. Kayaking to dolphin bay was also fun. The transportation to the lodge was quick and easy with their safe boat as well. Thank you Karine and Eric for a dream vacation

  • This just might be one of AirBnb's top ten places to stay. My wife and I were both shocked at how amazing this trip turned out to be. And I travel a lot. I have stayed in so many great places in Europe, the Americas and Africa. But I have never once suggested to the owners that they should quadruple their prices. I did that here. The Floating Lodge La Casa Nenufar is a once in a lifetime experience. It is so entirely beautiful, secluded, exotic and fantastic that there really are no words to describe it. But it is more than that too. Karine and Eric are so wonderfully full of love. So excited to have guests. And so patient and sweet, that I really felt like I was living in the home of my dreams with family that I had known all my life. I am now scheming how to send my friends and family to visit this place before only the richest people the in the world can afford it. This stay made our entire vacation.

  • Without a doubt it's 10 out of 10 experience. Beautiful doll-house-like lodge, extremely tasteful in every little detail. We stayed for 1 night and came back for 3 more nights and were very reluctant to leave. Everything about our stay was fantastic - actual lodge, variety of things to do, exquisite Karine's meals, all home-made and delicious. It's a good fun to have your own boat and take it to hosts' house for meals. Eric was very patient with us trying crazy things like climbing the palms and catching the lobsters. He also took us kayaking in search of sloths and it was a great experience. They were very warm and friendly without being intrusive. It was highlight of our 3 weeks journey in Costa Rica and Panama and we hope to come back.

This sustainable house is located in the middle of the rain forest and right in front of the protected bay of Bastimentos. You will discover many coral reefs around this magical area, it is perfect for snorkeling and you have your own private dock for sunbathing and entering into the sea! The inside living space is very comfortable, spacious, and sunny but the 50m 2 porch looking over the sea is unbeatable! You will love to spend your time here listening to the waves, hanging in the hammock, and watching the sunset. There is a brand NEW very comfortable aloe vera king size bed for a great sleep! You will experience sleeping with the breeze and the sounds of the sea at night. You will also find a large wardrobe that gives you lots of space for your clothes and a nice little fan on top of the bed for warmer days. There is a sofa bed in the living room that can accommodate a 3rd person. We recommend it for a kid or a teenager. We can help you arrange baby sitter and kids swimming lessons. The kitchen has two big windows with a direct view to the jungle and sea which makes it highly ventilated. It is equipped with stove, fridge, coffee pot, pots and pans. You will find salt and some spices when you arrive and we can gladly pick up some food for you! There is free filtered water in the house. The bathroom has a big shower with non-slip tiles and hot water. 2 minutes walking there is a little sand area with a very nice swing right on the water as well as jungle hiking around the house. The best about Bastimentos is the way we move!I Is very easy and fun to get a water taxi to visit any other island. Water taxis are available from 6 am if you have your flight leaving early! Right down to the parrots that perch high in the trees and fly over the house every morning and evening!
The house is located in the gorgeous bay of Bastimentos, just across from the Bastimentos (Old Bank) village. There are just a few friendly neighbors around the house, so you will feel the peace and quiet of the area. The waters in the area are known for the beautiful red reefs perfect for snorkeling and canoeing. The restaurant Eclypse de Mar is a few minutes walking for whenever you want to have a drink or enjoy a meal. Carmen's place is also right next door for a great breakfast or dinner! You will also enjoy a 5 minutes walk and get inside to the very special Natural Park reserve with panoramic views, where you can find sloths, red frogs and discover many plants, flowers, birds and butterflies species.
  • Our host was very welcoming and did her best to make sure we had what we needed. She kept us supplied with ice and found snorkel gear for us! The local phone proved to be a good perk! Location, location, location! This house is perfectly situated for a visit to Bocas. Enjoy the view but be away from it all. It is easy to catch taxis around, and the taxis are one of the best parts of Bocas! We had a memorable ride on a taxi carrying the local guitar player on a moonlit night. You have a dock with a view and you can swim and snorkel from the house. Eclipse de Mar is a lovely spot to sit with a drink or breakfast and is actually only a 20-second walk away (really next door) and you can easily rent kayaks very inexpensively from them to tool around. The house has a beach that is very protected from ocean wells, and very peaceful. Immaculately clean and mosquito were not a problem. The one issue - when we arrived it had been raining solid for two days. This impacted the solar panels, which impacted both the electricity and the water as the water runs on an electric pump. In such a scenario you make due with candles and bottled water. I would still highly recommend this house. The deck would be enjoyable rain or sun! You can hike from the house too. You get a small amount of noise from Old Bank, but I actually enjoyed the music as it wasn't too loud and it reminded me I was in Panama! The music comes from one club and seemed to stop well before midnight during the week.

  • We had a great time at un Puerto particular. Dayana and Malena were great hosts, very accessible, and helped us to book tours and recommended various resturantes and activities. We hope to return soon!

  • This was a very clean home. The shower was always hot. The deck was an awesome part of the home. It was easy to get around. Down side... the fridge was inop and stove was in disrepair. Don't plan on storing food and cooking your meals. The bed was VERY a small double and difficult for two adults to sleep in comfortably. The bug net over the bed was needed since there are no screens on the windows... there are very few bugs unless it rains. They do provide a hotel type safe but it is not mounted so we threw it in the oven and hung a towel and a plastic trash bag tied to the handle to provide some security. The best part was the neighbor next door at Carmens Place. She prepared excellent meals and was much more affordable than the Eclypse Del Mar Lodge. The restaurants in Basementos town were very limited and never seemed to be open. Alvins was nice but was very overpriced for local cuisine.

  • The not-so-good part first: The hosts were very responsive to an inquiry email prior to booking (5 days prior to arrival). However, once it was booked the communication stopped. I sent an email 4 days prior to arrival asking about laundry nearby. No response. I followed up 2 days later. No response. Ok, that's fine. The day before arrival we were wondering whether we were to meet them some place or find our way to the property and how to go about entering/using. Sent another email. No response. We called them about 5 times the day before arrival and even left a voicemail. No response. We landed in Bocas town and checked our email and made several more calls - still no response or answer to calls. We weren't sure what to do next. The property is remote and we didn't have any idea of how to get ahold of the owners as we had exhausted our options at that point. We decided to make the trek (boat ride) towards Bastimentos to find the property based on directions from the initial booking. Our boat taxi guy was patient and helped us find the secluded dock after a 10 minute boat ride from Bocas town. We walked up to this semi-secluded property but the door was locked. Luckily the window was open and my girlfriend was able to climb through and unlock the door. The good thing is that turns out the hosts live next door so they saw people (us) settling in. Malena (host) then responded to my email (from 5 days ago), and then headed over to welcome us about 20 minutes after we'd arrived. She apologized for not being in communication as they had family/friends visiting. The previous guests had left majority of the dishes/silverware/cookware needing a second wash. My girlfriend and I realize that there could be people (like my parents) booking that are not savvy/risky enough to go along. The lack of communication also just added an unnecessary stressor to our vacation plans. The good part: Everything went really well after that point. The property is beautiful. We loved staying there. Malena was very helpful in giving us suggestions. The pictures are very accurate about the property. There was plenty of water in the tanks and the solar batteries never let out on us. The deck is amazing. I would come back for sure.

  • We loved our stay at Bastimentos in the jungle house. We cooked breakfast and did yoga every morning on the large deck looking out over the water. The house is perfectly positioned to view the beautiful sunsets. Only things that may bother people is the loud bassy music traveling across the water in the night till the early hrs of the morning and the bed is a double and pretty hard. Other than that is is a very comfortable stay. We felt very at home and it was so nice to arrive home to this little oasis!

    Larissa & Jake2017-08-14T00:00:00Z
  • So perfect! Dayana was very sweet and the house is really special. Very open with everything you need, great if you like to cook. We really enjoyed using the kitchen and eating meals on the big balcony. If your looking for privacy and quiet this is your spot... But still so close to the party atmosphere in bocas plus getting water taxi is fun and easy

    Katie & Chris2015-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • It is really like paradise! The house is close to the main town of Bastimento. There are some houses around, but it's quiet and you can relax. You have your own dok, which is also kind of a watertaxi station. If you like beeing in the jungle, you really should stay there and enjoy your own paradise for a few days! Thanks to the hosts, they were great and helped us with everything!

  • Magico!

Please be aware that this cabina is the closest to the sea, on a small cliff, and if swell is high, the noise from crashing waves is very loud.
Four miles away from town, you are just steps away from surfing some of the best waves in Panama, bird-watching, beach-combing, snorkeling hidden coves, and watching ancient sea turtle lay their eggs... And so much more to discover.
  • We stayed at Monique's lodge for three nights. It is maybe one of the most beautiful places on earth! The cabin is built over the sea so you can hear the waves crushing and have a stunning view over the water on your private balcony. It is decorated with care and we appreciated the lovely details. The place is a bit far from town which was an extra plus in our opinion because it was really quiet and nearby the rainforest where we saw monkeys and a sloth. Monique herself was not there, but we were welcomed and taken care of by Mary who was lovely and helpful with many recommendation for activities in the area.

    Jennifer2016-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely time at Tesoro Escondido! Location was great if you are keen to be close to a beautiful beach- steps away from Playa Bluff, with town still easily accessible by bus or taxi. The cabin was great with a beautiful balcony right over the sea. We had an excellent dinner here as well. It is a wee bit far from town if you are hoping to be closer to the action of Bocas Town but if you are looking for a peaceful secluded spot, this was great. I can't say we met Monique, but most of the staff were fantastic. Monique did organize a taxi from the airport for us, which was very convenient.

    Carolyn2016-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I stayed in the turtle cabina for 3 nights. It looked and sounded (very loud waves) exactly as listed. The area (bluff beach) is within walking distance to many different surf breaks. There are also a few restaurants within a 15 minute walk away. Town is a bit further ($15-$20) taxi ride which can add up. They do serve food at the restaurant on site, not too sure how lunch and dinner are but breakfast is good. Monique was a great host and sent a taxi to meet us at the airport when we arrived (highly recommend pre-booking taxi as other drivers wanted to charge us more money because of the difficulty of the road). She was very kinda and helpful, giving recommendations about the area. Everyone in town knows her as well and say great things! Overall we had a wonderful time. Would definitely recommend, especially for a surf oriented vacation as the close proximity to surf breaks (less swimming areas than we hoped because of the large waves and riptides).

    Sara2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • I had the most amazing time at Tesoro Escondido. The cabin was spacious and very clean. It sits right above the crashing waves, which I loved. It can get very loud, but it is absolutely beautiful. I loved just sitting in the hammocks on the porch and watching the sun and listening to the waves. Monique was so accommodating and helpful. Whatever you need, she is there for you with tips and arrangements. The staff at Tesoro are also so great and friendly. It was like going back to a little family after a day at the beach or sailing the different islands. The food served at Tesoro was also delicious. I can't wait to go back.

    Leslie2015-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was an incredible experience. The crashing waves just a few feet away was something we will never forget. The room was perfect and the entire staff were very friendly and went out of their way to help us. The food there was excellent. A person could truly just stay there and never leave and not miss out on a thing. The place was decorated beautifully, the picture on the wall is of a turtle and made from bottles placed artistically through the wall. The location of Monique's place is what really makes this a must stay location. Bluff Beach seems endless and secluded. We saw many tropical birds as well as Howler monkeys while we strolled down the road.

  • We loved our stay so much we stayed an EXTRA night in a bigger more expensive cabin!!! This place is beautiful. We could stay here forever. Amazing views!!! After such a hellish crossing over the costa rican boarder into panama when we got here it was all worth it! This is the only place I would stay if I was to come back to bocas del torro. we didnt meet Monique but Mary the manager was absolutely fabulous, super sweet and very helpful with transportation and tips on places in town. The food and drinks she prepares are awesome! Tesoro escondido is about a 15 or 20 min drive in and out of town by taxi which is the only way at night and then during the day there are shuttles for $3 and pretty reliable. Cant complain! Everything was great. LOVED LOVED LOVED our stay! Thanks Mary for everything. Your the best ! Liz and Tony

  • I enjoyed my stay at Kary's! The house is in a quiet residential street and having the garden is really nice for such a big city. It is exactly as the photos and the bed is very comfortable and the air conditioning very nice! She is a busy entrepreneur but still had time to chat & give me some recommendations.

    Janelle2017-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • What a cool place to stay! Loved the layout - an open, airy sort of "indoor/outdoor spaces" concept. Plenty of room, hot spacious shower, strong WiFi and nice big bed. The neighborhood is secure, just around the corner from all the great eats...Athanasiou bakery restaurant and Grand Gourmet Deli! Anywhere else, from the Causeway, Casco Viejo, Allbrook Mall/Terminal are all just a 10-15 minute Taxi or Uber ride away. I would love to visit again, soon!

  • What I loved most about Kary's place is the great example of responsibility and entrepreneurship. The kindness of Elizabeth, Aubrey, Ivan...Kary's Team... And my favorite benefit: the love & company of Oreo! Thank you for sharing him & your wonderful creations! Cheers!

  • Great place in a quiet neighborhood! Kary and Valerie (her assistant) were great to communicate with and easy going. We arrived late and I only stayed one night but the house is open and with plenty of space. The bathroom was clean, wifi strong and air conditioner breezy...and Oreo (the pooch) is wonderful! Great value for the price...would stay here again.

  • It was all good except a day where we entered and she have put the alarm on, and we didn't know the code, and she forgot to tell us about it. Apart of that it was a good experience for us, great location, good apartment and service.

  • Tu casa es Hermosa! And your dog too!! Loved staying here had heaps of freedom, a massive king bed and a super cooling AC to beat the Panamanian heat. We received awesome sight seeing tips, a trip to the surf beach and some killer ice cream. Highly recommend to any travellers coming to Panama City; it's a perfect location walking distance to small shops and even a massive multi plaza. Don't hesitate to ask Kary any need to knows or food advice, and be sure to grab a Keene's ice cream !

  • Franziska always answered my emails promptly and thoroughly. She also provided a great reference packet for us to download and we referred to it often throughout our trip to Panama City. You might think the photos are "too good to be true". They barely do the place justice. I'm a pool girl and with 7 pools to play in, we used all of them thoroughly! We also took full advantage of the activities the Westin next door had to offer. The flat is sleek, clean and the kitchen is huge and well stocked. Playa Bonita is a bit remote from the city, but it's also the closest beach resort to Panama City there is. The staff on site is friendly, but you might want to brush up on your Spanish just a bit so you can communicate with them better since not too many of them speak any English. There is a small store on site that has the necessities and we were surprised (and amazed) that they do not price gouge you. Their prices were better than the large supermarkets so if you need to get sunblock and other essentials, don't sweat it... get them there. We had a taxi take us to the grocery store ($50 round trip), but since we ate all of them throughout the week, we ended up spending as much for the whole week as we did in one dinner at the Westin. Casa Bonita has an amazing top floor pool and hot tub area that was largely deserted all week. Laying in the water, reading and watching boats navigate the canal while enjoying 92 degree temps and a breeze? PRICELESS! Thanks Robert and Franziska... you made our trip!

    Marci2016-01-11T00:00:00Z
  • What an amazing trip! We had a lot of fun at Robert's place. The condo was impeccably clean when we arrived as we received the warmest welcome from the staff and Robert's hosts in Panama. There was plenty of room for the 5 of us, an amazing view from the deck, and the amenities in the building were a plus for one of our lazy days lounging around the area. I would highly recommend this place to anyone interested in a comfortable, luxurious stay in Panama and I look forward to coming back in the future. Thank you guys for an amazing stay! Rod

  • Great place with a great location just outside of Panama City where all the activity of the city is easily within reach but you return to a beautiful, peaceful setting at Casa Bonita. Apartment has great amenities including use of Pearl Club, gym, rooftop pool, WiFi...

  • The apartament is excellent, the size, amenities and comfort is pretty good and all was as shown in the pictures and as expected. We definetly recommend this apartment to anyone looking for quality and excellent value. The access to the Westin resort is of great value. Thank you for allowing us to share your vacation place.

  • The resort is pure heaven. We did not actually stay in the apartment described, but in another identical one, on another floor. The view was breathtaking, the apartment was great and the pools were amazing.

  • An excellent resort experience, 20 minutes from the city. Very nice pools (love the Pearl Club!) and ocean views. Can't get enough of the ships lining up to enter the canal. If you want to relax then this is a great choice.

Cozy and warm studio cabin built with very high building standards and building materials. Imported spanish tiles, wood cabinets and ceiling, queen size bed, 1 bathroom, kitchen with a very nice spanish style design. While your stay you will enjoy comfort, privacy, views to the Baru Volcano and the Pacific Ocean. Enjoy the singing of the many birds that hang around the many trees that form part of the lot where the cabin is located. Very quiet and safe neighborhood like most of Boquete. Convenience stores and restaurant very close. Lots of outdoor sports and activities such as bird watching, rock climbing etc. Public transportation right outside your door and the main highway is only two blocks from the cabin. I like giving my guests all the privacy they need, but I am always willing to give them all the information they desire of the culture and the town itself.
The neighborhood is a very quiet area which is integrated mainly by locals.
  • This "casita" was everything that it said and more! Ulises was always ready and willing to answer any questions (He knows everyone and everything.) and to render any help you need. He took us on several tours that included things no one else could hope to do. He became like a part of our family. The "casita" has everything one needs and is almost on the main road to town where you can catch a "taxi" to town for 60¢. The grounds are beautiful with many flowers, trees and fruit. The many birds greeted you and orchids grew on almost all trees. We will be back soon.

    EDWARD2016-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Ulises and Silvia are just about the greatest hosts you can find the world over. From the very beginning, Ulises was there to answer all my pending questions prior to check-in. He replies lightening fast and is always available and willing to help you out above and beyond. We took a long bus ride into Boquete from Coronado and Ulises gave us instructions as to where to get off on the bus and he would personally pick us up and bring us to the cabin. Perfect execution! The cabin is situated within a large private fenced lot that is lovingly tended to by Ulises and his wife. Beautiful florals, greens and even a banana and plantain tree out back. It felt like our very own home for 3 weeks. The cabin itself is so comfortable and spacious. Had everything that we needed to cook at home. There are a couple trucks that go by the neighbourhood with a loud speaker a couple days a week (mostly around the weekends) that sell pineapples, watermelons, papayas, tomatoes, yucca, culantro, carrots, fish and shrimp. I especially liked this feature as we didn't have a car so lugging home 5 watermelons and 2 giant papayas was not an option. My husband and I work online quite a bit and the internet worked very well. We also enjoyed looking out at Baru Volcano from our veranda or just inside the house while we worked or even on the bed the curtains are open. Perfect sunsets every night. I will miss doing my aerobics on the outside veranda facing the beautiful green trees and birds flying by. Though we didn't have a car, cost-efficient taxis and buses were readily available to catch just a minute walk from the cabin to the main road. Ulises took us one day up toward Boquete and beyond to check out the hiking trails, waterfalls, coffee plantations and more! He would be able to answer just about any question you have about the area. So unexpected but so very much appreciated and unforgettable. We would have loved to stay longer in the cabin but it was booked but Ulises took the initiative to show us another home that we could rent. And that is where we are now! This was certainly THE optimum stay for a couple expecting a baby and looking to just relax. Thank you for leaving us the awesome fruits on arrival. Our baby thanks you!

  • Ulises place is so wonderful, peaceful and so spacious. It is a true gem and you need to give both the property and Ulises a hard look, when travelling to the Boquete area. We are an older couple, mid fifties, from Canada. We travel each year several times to varied locals. The Sunset Cabin is our pick for Bouquete. While not in the town it is an easy 10 min. car ride or via bus a tad longer. As it is located in a small residential area with nearby gas stations, food stores and a public access pool. You really feel the calm and tranquility of this part of Panama, with access to all the towns in the area provide. The property is shaded, fenced and flowered. The patio is large beautifully tiled and cool with calming breezes. The view is spectacular of Baru, the volcano and the other stunning mountains that surround at a distance. Inside is again tiled throughout. The furniture is in good nick and the bed is so comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are of a good size and we'll equipped. The cabin is cool in the sun and warm when the air chills in the evening. We ate on the patio each meal. Read, napped and bird watched. Very tranquil. Ulises was a wonderful host. He provided some foods, wine and even beer for us. We'd encountered car problems with our rental. He contacted the vendor and we received an upgraded vehicle and it was do that very day. We can't say enough good about him or his property. We are already planning our next trip back

  • We enjoyed the Month of March in Cozy Sunset Cabin. As said in other reviews the host was very attentive and friendly starting when he picked us up at the airport. The cabin was clean with excellent wifi and TV. We enjoyed the outside patio and ate all our meals here while we tried to identify all the resident birds. I am glad we didn't stay in Boquete itself as the noise and activity would have been too overwhelming. You need a car to stay any length of time. Buses and taxis are plentiful though. As in most Central American countries dogs and roosters can be annoying early in the morning. Bring earplugs.

  • September and October 2014 - We just spent 42 days at the Cozy Sunset Cabin, in Boquete. The cabin was perfect and Ulises and Silvia were excellent hosts. We will surely return. Thank you Ulises and Silvia.

  • Wow what a nice little hideway. It's tucked into the shade trees, has a big lovely deck, big comfortable bed. A very comfortable, private retreat.

This property is 5 minute taxi ride or 15 minute bike ride to the Bocas town center. It's a 10 minute walk to the most consistent surf breaks on the island and a very charming beach bar/restaurant/lounge called Paki Point where you can watch the surfers. There is also a very charming brick-oven style take-away pizza restaurant called Ciao Pizza directly across the street.
  • Our stay at casa communal was nothing short of magical. If you want the true bocas experience where time doesn’t need to exist and all that matters are the waves crashing against the shore and beautiful sunsets from your porch, this is the perfect place. Set outside of town, it’s wonderful to get away, but also there are many things just a short cab ride away. Angie was amazing and met us at the marina, getting us accustomed and gave a great tour. Also, after our stay, we accidentally left a sum of money in the kitchen, which was quickly reported to Angie from the cleaning crew and she got our money back to us right away. Such integrity and honesty which was so appreciated. Loved our stay here and would absolutely come back in a heart beat!!!

  • This house is absolutely amazing -beautiful architecture in a stunning setting. You never ever want to leave it.... and you don't need to because there is nothing missing from the house. Its a perfect house. With a couple of restaurants nearby you don't have to go far for food and drinks. Or else Its a quick 20 Minutes bike ride to town to get groceries or great restaurants. Jay and Angie where very welcoming, informative and gracious hosts. We can't wait to come back.

  • Casa Communal is amazing! It looks exactly like on the pictures. Angie is very professional and helps with everything you'd need. Theres also the Housekeeper Ezequiel, a super nice guy who unfortunately only speaks spanish and always has a smile on his face. Alltogether we really enjoyed our stay there, it was perfect!

  • Spectacular house and great stay. The adminstrator Antje is super attentive - gave us a great welcome with all the ins and outs of what to do in Bocas and was very attentive the whole trip. Ezequiel, the care taker was always on hand for anything we needed.

  • This is a truly beautiful house that feels very comfortable, homely, and made full use of the surrounds. The gardens are beautiful and the ocean front location is so special that you could spend hours just watching the surfers and the waves roll in and out. In terms of location, we hired bicycles and rode into town which was about 20 mins on a flat road along the ocean front. You would need a car if you wanted to explore much further as it is quite hot. The beach at the front of the house does supply a stunning outlook from the house, but due to the shallow reef and the waves, you actually can't swim here. Experienced surfers would enjoy it, however. You can ride about 20 minutes to a swimming beach, though it was so rough with dangerous currents when we went there that we couldn't swim (we are Australians with lots of experience on surf beaches). We took a water taxi one day to some of the other islands where the beaches were protected and beautiful for swimming. The house itself is very comfortable, hot during the day but cool at night. The beds were quite firm but comfortable enough and we all had good sleeps. The kitchen was well stocked and cooking was easy, though we would have loved to have a BBQ! :) There were a lot of bugs but the owner has done a lot to mitigate this by providing screens on all windows, mosquito coils, and mosquito lamps in the bedrooms, so it wasn't really much of a problem. Communication was great- Angie met us at the airport and gave a detailed explanation of the house, as well as many recommendations for the area. She speaks a few different languages too! All in all, a great stay!

  • Everyone that hosted us was amazing. We were well taken care of. The house, waterfront setting, and location were great. It was a mellow bike ride to town. We would highly recommend staying at Casa Comunal!
