Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond.
Our rustic River Houseboat is on the edge of the Pootatuck River on our lower pond. The Houseboat has a comfy queen bed and a screened porch complete with two antique rocking chairs. The River Houseboat is often preferred because it is located close to the main Stone Barn and parking lot. The Stone Barn is open 24 hours and has a hot shower, toilet, and common room with internet and books. Keep in mind that because this cabin is located at the base of the mountain it is not as secluded as the other cabins. The Stone Barn has a grill outside and a full kitchen inside that guests are welcome to use. There is also a fully equipped Rustic Kitchen located up in the woods. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a one minute walk away in the Stone Barn -There is a small bonfire pit located near the cabin. -Candles are not allowed in the cabins Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you!   We ask that all guests arrive before dark   Guests arriving after 10pm will be required to pay an additional $20 late check in fee in cash upon arrival. We apologize but we must enforce this even if you are late due to circumstances out of you control. We do not accept check-ins on Tuesday or Wednesday but message us if you want to stay through the week and are having trouble booking. It’s simple living at its best. We're just over one hour from NYC but local folks love us too. We are an easy, inexpensive "staycation" and many use us frequently as their guest "bedroom" when out of town family or friends come. We offer a unique setting for your summer get-a-way or family reunion. There is a communal Rustic Kitchen on the top of the mountain ideally situated between the Pagoda cabin, Mtn. Laurel cabin and Summit cabin. The kitchen has cookware, plates, french press, utensils, a stove, grill, coolers with ice, olive oil, salt/pepper, drinking water and running water! Lighting is limited and provided by LED lanterns - we always encourage people to bring their own additional lighting.  There are three large designated fire pits on the property. Some cabins also have their own fire pits which is noted in their individual descriptions. Fires are not allowed to be made in undesignated places! Only YOU can prevent forest fires!  Fire wood is not available this season so please pre-plan and purchase wood before arriving. Wood can be purchased at many places including Stop and Shop. Please Note per Connecticut state law - firewood cannot be brought in from out of the state.  Upon arrival we will provide you with a map and your own cooler with ice. We ferry our guests and their belongings up to their cabin at check in and upon check out but please remember that during your stay you will be traveling on foot! We cannot allow cars to drive up and down the mountain. At the minimum if you are a large party you can initially drive your car up to unload but will have to park at the base before dark. Please remember this when packing and planning your initial grocery provision trip. Most of the cabins are a 10-25 minute walk through the woods, depending on your speed. We do not allow private cars to drive up the mountain. NO EXCEPTIONS! We restock ice and other goods daily and thus try to make ourselves as available and accommodating to changing needs as possible - we are are on the property 24 hours a day in case of emergency. (Website hidden by Airbnb) Important Things to Note -Unfortunately we are not able to provide breakfast this season. If you are interested in a farm fresh breakfast during your stay you will need to request this at the time of booking and the rate is $30 a person. Our breakfast is organic/non gmo and includes a grand spread of granola, eggs made to order with veggies. You must request a time at booking -Verizon wireless is the only network to have service throughout the property. Nearly all other providers have service on the top of the mountain where the majority of our cabins are located but it is still undependable at best.  -Dogs are not allowed to stay in any of our cabins unless they are service animals. -Please be advised that we are not solely an airbnb Host; we are a working farm and while we aim to accommodate you as best as possible, there are sometimes other events going on that may affect your stay. We recommend you check our calendar of events prior to booking.  -There are three outdoor showers, one is located near the stone barn, two are located near the Rustic Kitchen area.  - An outhouse that is cleaned weekly is located near the Rustic kitchen, Mtn. Laurel cabin, Summit cabin and Pagoda cabin and a two room state of the art composting toilets are shared between the Solar cabin and Log cabin - both a one minute walk away - We have a wilderness camp that runs Monday - Friday from 9am - 3pm : Campers and staff respect the privacy of the cabins but you might see some groups of children building forts of stalking animals through the forest  - Please be aware that depending on rain fall the property is at risk of drought in the late summer. This can sometimes cause the pond levels to drop making it less scenic for some. - None of the cabins except the River House Boat and Little House have electricity- fans are provided in these cabins - There is a Stop and Shop grocery store located 2.5 miles from the farm where all groceries can be purchased. - If you arriving via metro north you want to get off at Bridgeport and from there you can either Uber or after booking request our resident Jeff's number who provides rides $80 round trip or $50 one way. -Candles are not allowed in the cabins - We do have wi-fi in the main stone barn but it can be undependable
Though there is lots to do in the towns of Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield, surrounding Sticks and Stones Farm, most guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.
  • The house boat was the perfect relaxing spot to unwind and watch the wildlife. We really enjoyed cooking in the amazing kitchen in the Stone Barn and walking through the Moss Garden. Sam was a very welcoming and gracious host. We hope to be back again soon. Thank you!

  • Sticks & Stones Farm is a serene, sparkling clean, unique and truly magical place. We loved the hiking, open kitchen, yoga class and cozy romantic houseboat. The wabi-sabi natural still lifes at every turn were a feast for the eyes. Our host, Sam, could not have been sweeter or more helpful. Highly recommended for a rustic get away not too far away!

    Miranda2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful stay. A magical place in the woods .

  • Wonderful, relaxing weekend getaway. Farm is beautiful. Definatly get the homemade brunch if offered-was an extra cost but so worth it! The host was very nice and helpful-made our stay very comfortable. If you are looking for nice, quiet, romantic getaway-this is it!

  • It was a great stay for an off the grid weekend! Very tranquil and loved being surrounded by nature.

    Erica2017-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Sticks and Stones Farm is an incredible place, a huge area full of magical quiet places to sit and think, and a wonderfully warm and friendly atmosphere. Desre and Tim are both very kind people. It was exactly where we needed to be at the time. The River Houseboat is beautiful and relaxing. Waking up to sunlight shining through the trees and playing over our legs is the best way to start a morning.

    Kate2014-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Everyone at Sticks and Stones was incredibly kind, welcoming, and receptive to your needs. We were picked up and dropped off at the train station without any hassle. The listing for the Houseboat was perfectly accurate- it is very comfortable! If you are lucky there may be an event you can join in- we happened to come on a night when there was contra dancing! We want to come back again when the winter is over!

  • I wanted to take my husband somewhere unique and special (and relatively close to NYC since we didn't have a lot of time) for our first anniversary weekend--I expected Sticks and Stones Farm to be a lovely place, but I was so delighted to discover just HOW special this gem of a place is. Everything was prefect--from the houseboat, to the grounds, to the common areas--all of it was charming, clean, well-kempt, and with lots of heart and soul ! Our hosts, Tim & Sam, were incredibly warm and welcoming, the breakfast and amenities were fantastic, and the bed in the houseboat was so comfy! We just had a magical time, and can't wait to return soon. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • JoJo and Phil were very accommodating of our request to check in early. Room was comfy and full of natural light.

    Kat2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Super trendy interior, close to restaurants and ice cream (ferris acres!!), overall was definitely a good pick.

    Taylor2018-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • Beutiful art studio loft. Grat for tranquility and meditation. Its your own private space on separate redone barn/garage loft, with full private bath downstairs. Very spacious, comfortable and cozy. Zen like garden and beautiful large surrounding yard. We did not get to meet Jojo or do yoga, but Phil and his daughter greeted us and were awesome hosts, very warm and full of town info. We had wonderful conversations. Also loved their cat and dog. We hope to stay with them again during travels between NYC and the Berkshires!!

    Carlos2017-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • This truly magical space is full of heart. The art studio/living space is comfortable and inspirational, furnished with an eye for beauty. The yoga studio below is lovely as was the yoga class we took. The hosts are kind and very caring, definitely going above and beyond for us on this visit. I highly recommend a stay here with Phil and Jojo!

    Dasha2017-04-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful loft, wonderful location, & friendly hosts!

    Carrie-Hahnen2017-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • JoJo and Phil's place was quite the retreat! The loft felt like home and the bed was very comfortable. The yoga space was beautifully decorated and the pool was an added treat. We did not get the privilege to meet JoJo but Phil was a pleasure to be around and their son was very friendly. I would stay here again in a heartbeat! Thank you for a great weekend retreat!

    Maggie2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • It was a really cool place. If you are artistic in anyway, this is a great place to stay. Even if you aren't it's still cool.

    Stephen2016-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • These hosts are very nice, welcoming and generous and the place is cool/funky. But if you're looking for cleanliness equivalent to a hotel or motel, the hosts could be much more meticulous about the toilet, shower, sink in the bathroom. Plus, you have to walk downstairs through the yoga studio to use the bathroom (inconvenient at night) or walk across to the hosts house to use the bathroom during yoga classes. The traffic noise is significant and without ear plugs you might find sleeping difficult as I did, especially if you have to rise early like me during a work trip. The pool is not healthy and the ac and toilet seat need repairs. I came back from dinner to find their dog free in my space. Not sure how he got in there. Cool dog though. Just a bit weird to hear footsteps inside as you enter from dining out.

Enjoy complete privacy and 500+ square feet of living space in our ground floor suite. There is one king bed, one queen bed, a comfy sectional couch and two toddler airbeds. There is a small kitchenette for simple cooking and an alfresco BBQ patio for bigger cooking. There is plenty of living space both indoors and out.
This is really a nice, cozy apartment - with ample living space! Pull into a private garage that is attached to your suite. There is a full sized refrigerator in the garage you may use. From the garage you enter a serene sun room flooded with bright, natural light. This room is perfect for reading or to enjoy a glass of wine and a quiet chat. The radiant floors are super cozy on your feet during the winter, and year round you can enjoy the great view of the woods. Take a left through french doors into your living room, and stretch out on the large sectional sofa and enjoy a program on the big screen cable TV. Order take out and sit down at your 4 person dining table. We have installed a new kitchenette in this suite, with Keurig coffee service, small countertop air fryer/oven, microwave, mini-fridge and electric griddle (great to make pancakes or grilled cheese sandwiches). There is no stove in the suite. Big cooking is done outside on a good quality gas BBQ grill with side burner; it is for the exclusive use of our guests, and is directly outside your suite, on an alfresco patio with picnic table. The bedroom has a roomy closet and a king bed. The bed can remain a king or can be separated into twins. There is a queen size Murphy bed (wall bed) in the main living room. It can be pulled down as needed. It has a comfortable 10 inch foam mattress with topper. We have two blow up toddler beds (with bedding) that can be placed on the floor, if needed. There are black out curtains for the comfort of those sleeping in the living room. All bed linens are 300 thread count Egyptian cotton. The three piece bathroom has a shower. We have lots of complimentary toiletries to use, if you forget something. Directly outside the sunroom, just steps away, is a large in-ground pool to enjoy from Memorial Day thru Labor Day. The pool is gated for the safety of small children. If you want to take a snooze or read a book and listen to the birds, there is a hammock nestled between two shade trees on the side of the house. There are two swings for the kids. We also have lawn games for the family to enjoy: soccer balls, a croquet set, Frisbee and boccie ball.
Enjoy classic Connecticut country living. We have a gorgeous yard, with three acres of nature, trees and privacy. There are a number of excellent walking and biking trails in Monroe. Good restaurants. The town park has wonderful amenities. However, our back yard is probably all you will need for your stay: hammock, pool, lawn games and guest BBQ. Come and relax!
  • This is our third 4th of July and 10th trip to Marybeth and Aster's place. Like always, we had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed very much misty yard the rainy night we arrived, the pool and dinner outside the house. On our last day, we saw a young deer in the yard. The kids were thrilled. We can not wait to go back in a few weeks. Thank you again, Marybeth and Aster.

    Grace2017-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time staying at an Airbnb. Our stay was fablous and our hosts Marybeth and Aster couldn't have been nicer. From the time we checked in till the time we checked out their main concern was our comfort and making sure we had everything we needed. I truly can't think of anything that needed improvement. Marybeth let me check in early, the accomodations were perfect. The apartment was equipped with all the amenities you could possibly want from water, fridge, coffee pot, sunroom, ironing board (which came in handy) TV, extra towels, shampoo, soap, extra blankets, garage for your car. This place was also immaculate. Truly blew me away. Our experience was so much more than we expected. I hope this review helps anyone considering on staying at this property. We flew from California and definately stay here again and refer it to our friends and family.

  • Geweldige locatie! Top!

    Judith2017-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing hosts and a very sweet, private space. Our kids enjoyed the pool and we made great use of the space. The hosts were attentive to our needs and made accommodations to help make our stay more enjoyable. They even set out a game I had mentioned for us to play! So thoughtful! Thank you, MaryBeth!

    Meg2018-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • This house is welcoming from the first view in the drive way all the way to the delightful host. The accommodations are roomy. The view out the sunroom is open and beautiful. The rooms where clean and well stocked with welcoming treats. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. I recommend this as a top spot to stay. We will be returning.

  • Loved this place and the guest book was full of great activities and food recs!

  • MaryThe suite is everything you described but we didn't really have Marybeth the suite was everything you described and more. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to settle in and enjoy it. What we did experience was enough to place the Hilton Garden Inn a distant second when we visit our daughter in Shelton. We'll work on our next Monroe outing and be in touch. Thanks for everything. The Healys

    Edward2015-07-26T00:00:00Z
  • Marybeth was extremely welcoming and reached out to us in advance of our trip and day of to check on us - greatly appreciated. We wanted to spend our NYE in a relaxed, romantic and quiet place and Marybeth's suite exceeded our hopes. She had a guide with information about local places to hike (we did one of those hikes which was awesome!), places to eat and other important information. It was also very convenient to be able to park in her garage and very nice of her to have prepared a bottle of champagne for us to bring in the New Year. Highly recommended.

An adorable cabin for one person
You will love this one room miniature cabin nestled next to our front pond and the Pootatuck River. It is darling with a 6' long single bed, dresser, lamp, two windows for cross ventilation and a front door that looks out on the pond and waterfall. We provide towels and drinking water in the cabins. PLEASE keep in mind this cabin is very very small and can only accommodate one person whom is LESS than 6 feet tall. The Little House is located between the Stone Barn and River House Boat so while it is easily accessible it is not very private. Please be advised that this cabin has the least amount of privacy. It is located next to our barn that is used for different events throughout the day and night. We cannot guarantee that there will not be something going on during your stay. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a one minute walk away in the Stone Barn
Though there is lots to do in the town of Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield, surrounding Sticks and Stones Farm, most guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.
  • Annie and Tim's farm is the perfect retreat and only about an hour from New York City! My boyfriend and I went there for Labor Day and stayed in a river boat on a pond in the property. It was one of the most magical places I have ever slept in. You wake up to the sound of a waterfall, the frogs croaking, and the birds chirping. Incredible. While I wouldn't go there for swimming, there are multiple trails and viewpoints scattered along the property. The farm is quite large. There was a another group of 8 people but we barely even crossed paths with them! They cultivate moss along with a vegetable garden. There are areas completely covered with moss. It looks like an ancient old-growth forest. It's truly a special and contemplative place to walk through. We mostly just relaxed and took in the environment. We foraged for mushrooms, ate veggies from their garden, grilled local meat from a butcher in the nearby town. They even hosted a "Wilderness Walk" with Steve Burrill which was really fun. Check out their website for other workshops and classes. Annie and Tim are wonderful hosts. They were available for anything we needed. Funny and interesting, with great stories to tell. Annie is also a great chef (try her Everything Cookie)! We will definitely be coming back.

  • We decided to spend our wedding anniversary in the Sticks and Stones recently and what a great decision that was. Annie and Tim are so welcoming and warm people. Annie ensured to give us a tour and that all of our needs were met. We spend the day, evening (with a breathtaking sunset watching directly from our cabin) and the night surrounded by fresh air, sounds of nature and a sense of being far away from civilization. It felt as if we were on the Lord of the Rings set- the huts are so whimsical and creative and all created by Tim. We hope to return to Sticks and Stones soon. Thank you Annie and Tim for your very warm welcome!

    Magdalena2013-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Sticks and Stones is a magical place! Visiting here felt like we were transported to a beautiful faraway land. Annie & Tim are wonderful hosts and the retreat is so peaceful. We had a great time wandering up the mountain thru the woods and exploring their beautiful farm. We also brought home some delicious swiss chard, shallots and tomatoes from their organic farm stand. Can't wait to visit again!

    Taided2013-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Sticks and Stones Farm is a beautiful property. We stayed in the main barn over a few nights, but if a second visit is ever on the cards (outside of the winter) then we would love to have been up on the mountain in one of the cabins. Annie was a great host who helped look after us with a ride from Fairfield train station. Her and Tim's house is a cozy nook built into the farm's main barn. There must be a thousand cookbooks lining the shelves and the kitchen is extremely well appointed. The wood fire is well stocked, the snow deep and powdery in the forest out the window ... this is a place to cook and eat for days on end. There are a couple of people who live on the property who were also very warm and welcoming. A lovely place.

    Sam2013-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was by far the greatest home away experience I have had...Annie is so wonderful and kind and really makes you feel like part of the family. Like on the farm is so unhurried and (Website hidden by Airbnb) was the oasis my husband and I really needed. It's definitely out of the ordinary and an experience you will not forget (in a fabulous way!). We stayed on the house boat and it was so romantic to sit on the screened porch and listen to the water trickling into the pond. Every night when we came into the cabin Annie had lit the candles which was so romantic. Sticks and stones is a great place to unplug and feel connected to nature. I completely recommend this relaxing place and hope to come back in the future!

    Jessica2013-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • I had an urge to "get away from it all" for a couple of nights, and this place really fills the bill. I am a huge fan of Thoreau's Walden, and also author Catherine Dougherty's concept of "poustinia"--a small, sparsely furnished room where one goes to pray. My little cabin offered me exactly the experience I was looking for--but made even better by the amenities offered by the hosts: the charm of wildflowers and lace decor; a warm welcome; a full kitchen just a few steps away; stone sculptures and cultivated perennials throughout the looping trails. Nature supplied the rest. I felt rested and restored when I left.

    Cathy2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed at Sticks & Stones for a get away from Brooklyn and we couldn't have been happier. Annie and Tim were exceptional hosts, and the farm is flat out gorgeous. We were in the boat house and between the beautiful porch and the barn being nearby with all the amenities, the stay was as comfortable as can be. Just make sure you bring a flashlight, and you'll be all good.

    Jonathen2013-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The farm is beautiful, calm and quiet. The houseboat is cozy and serene, and we loved going for long walks through the woods. We had a wonderful time, and is the perfect place to escape the city for a few days and recharge the batteries.

  • After traveling up from Florida, we found the barn cottage amazingly warm and inviting. We became so relaxed, we didn't want to leave. Sally and Tom were very accommodating. Tom even started a fire for us. The cottage had everything we needed to feel at home. and the guide they created helped us around town. And the best part was the little ones that greeted us. We can't wait to stay again.

    Kevin2016-05-16T00:00:00Z
  • Sally is a great host. She was very timely in her response. The cottage was absolutely amazing. It is as described. The location is some what secluded, which makes easy to relax and enjoy time with loved ones. There are many stores (groceries, shopping centers etc.) nearby. My girlfriend and I really loved the cottage, i highly recommend it.

    Arnulfo2016-11-28T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, spacious barn- the pictures don't do it justice! The pool is fabulous, and Sally & family are extremely accommodating. I highly recommend it!

  • The description was extremely accurate -- everything was clean, and beautifully decorated.

    Nicole2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Sally and Tom were the epitome of what I believe an Airbnb hosts should aspire to. From our first communication to our last they were thoughtful, considerate, and welcoming. I took a bit of a gamble on this location as it was roughly an hour from my intended destination. I wagered that the ambiance and the amenities made this choice well worth the ride. It did not disappoint. The cottage is in a beautiful location, has plenty of room, is meticulously kept, and takes every advantage of ambient lighting. The innate tranquility was the perfect place to return to after long hard days of training. Anyone passing through the area would be hard pressed to find a better spot to pass their time. Thank you Sally and Tom. Cheers.

  • Sally was a great host again. Very accommodating, and even brought me cold medicine from her own stash at 9 o clock at night after I got sick and stores were closed. Place was clean and cozy per pictures again. My wife and I plan to continue to stay here in the future!

    Sean2017-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Sally made herself available to acclimate us to the place and then to answer any questions. She was gracious and helpful!

  • Our third trip to Sallys, and maybe our best. We actually had nice weather so we were able to walk the grounds, and enjoy some time outdoors in her beautiful private backyard. Her and Tom were great hosts as always... There if you need them, but not if you don't. Our favorite weekend getaway.

Three decades of tasteful renovations — re-constructed with almost 100% re-purposed material from the property — have rendered this converted barn magazine-worthy. Set-back from the road on one acre of wooded land with a babbling brook, 353Brookside is a modern home that maintains its rustic allure. Tall ceilings, exposed wooden beams, dozens of windows, and eclectic furniture make the barn's charm immediately obvious. Perfect for romantic get-aways, events, retreats, family gatherings, and more
Access to the entire home and 1 acre of land! The barn was built in the early 1900s to house the Ox that built the dam down the road, hence the thick oak floors. The second and third floor was constructed by re-arranging the barm's giant beams horizontally instead of vertically. Almost all of the many abstract art pieces on the walls were painted by my mom and grandma. Everything has been modernized and we keep it very clean!
Quiet, quaint, peaceful neighborhood with friendly neighbors. Easy access to nature. Very close to grocery stores.
  • Lovely, extraordinary space, and an attentive and considerate host - everything you could ask for!

  • Love this place. Best I've ever gotten on airbnb.

  • Was an amazing and unique place to stay in and Davis was super accommodating and kind.

    Radha2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at the Barn! It is in a beautiful quiet neighborhood and was exactly what we wanted for our Thanksgiving get together. Highly recommended!

    Tyler2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • We've only been at this Airbnb thing a couple years now, but Davis's house is number one on our all-time list. Thanks to the pictures, I knew the house would be beautiful, and it was. What I did not expect was the beauty of the property, with its exquisite trees! The little brook made us think we were in the country, and yet a five-minute walk got us to stores. We were sad to leave and can't wait to go back.

    John2018-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Could not be happier that my friends and I stayed in this home. The house-barn was so spacious and had such special character. We enjoyed the endless cd collection and beautiful art work. I would highly recommend.

    Gabriella2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Davis's home is exactly as advertised. The renovated barn was really unique and interesting. We loved the beautiful updated bathrooms but older character of the home. Davis responded immediately to any questions during our stay and provides many of the basic needs (toiletries, paper towels, cleaning supplies, etc.). Given the nature of the old barn-style home, it wasn't surprising that there was some dusty areas in difficult to reach spots and a few ants/spiders here and there.

  • I stayed here for 3 days and had a great time. I wanted to just have a relaxing weekends with my dog. It was a perfect place. It was very cozy and peaceful. It was warm enough inside and got some food as well. There was a big park to hike. I really liked there.

  • It probably one of the better AirBnB's we been to in a long time! Cozy little cabin in woods was the perfect getaway for us as we were taking a small break on our way to Boston. The place was very well kept, clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the quiet and beautiful wooded surroundings. Rose and Jamie are great hosts - super friendly, warm and welcoming. Their communication was efficient and prompt. We would go back there in a heart-beat.

  • Spent a beautiful two days over the Labor Day weekend at Cathy's place. The apartment above her yoga studio was comfortable and spacious. My kids had a great time playing with her dog Gracie. Loved the property and the woods around. Went for a hike down to the little river. Cathy and her family were welcoming and helpful. Overall, a refreshing stay!

    Rubina2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot thank Cathy and Scott enough for allowing us to use their space. The grounds were beautiful, serene and the energy was so calm. Away from traffic, tucked away in the forest lent itself to just a feeling of aw and relaxation. She was so welcoming, it honestly felt like staying with an old friend I reconnected with, and for that I am so grateful for it all. I loved it all and cannot wait to go back....

  • This is a lovely sunny, comfortable, quiet place to stay. We spent a lovely weekend here in January. Cathy is a warm host who provided everything we needed, but allowed us privacy. The yoga class with Cathy was wonderful for both of us (one of us experience, one not) and gave me helpful insight into my alignment. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed hiking trails nearby as well as the sauna downstairs! We definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a place to relax and rejuvenate.

  • David is a great host. He's new to Airbnb, but has a knack for it. The space is beautiful, quiet, secluded but close enough to the city that it isn't convenient. David would be available when needed and was very accommodating. I will definitely be staying here again.

Herzlichen Dank David. :-)

  • My wife and I stayed at David's place as an escape from the city and to celebrate her birthday. We had a lovely time, and the apartment is ideal for a romantic getaway: clear view of the sea, gas fireplace, etc. Would definitely recommend!

    Chris2017-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • The location of this studio was perfect. Aside from overlooking the water from the back patio, the studio was close to local attractions, restaurants and the downtown. When we got to town, we stopped for a bite to eat before checking in. We then realized David's place was just about a 5 minute drive from the heart of town. After we arrived and dropped off our bags we took another quick drive down to Silver Sands State Park. The weather was gorgeous as was the water and beach. We didn't bring any beach towels but David was quick to accommodate us. We were there for only one night but if we stayed in the entire weekend, the studio had everything we could have wanted including a fireplace you could light with a simple click of a remote. Thank you again, David!

  • David’s place is perfect for those looking to escape the busy city life! My fiancé & I took a weekend trip here from NY to break away from our daily routine. Upon arrival, David warmly greeted us & showed us around the space. He provided pamphlets & a list of near by restaurants or activities for us in case we were interested. Although we stayed in all weekend, we enjoyed looking over what was nearby for future references as we definitely plan to return! The view is breathtaking & we made sure to wake up early to catch the sunrise. But where we spent most of our time, was by the fireplace. David’s place is cozy, fully furnished (not to mention how comfortable the decor made us feel), & well equipped with everything you can possibly need! The apartment was just the right size with lots of open space. Enough for us to be comfortable yet close to one another. Clean, super organized, & modernly maintained, we couldn’t have asked for a better place to spend our little getaway. Make your coffee & go outside to hear the morning ducks swim by or to simply listen to the sound of the waves hit the rocks but with a touch of a gentle melody. David was quick to respond, easy to communicate with & a great host with whom to share a laugh or two. He accommodated us in so many ways being that I travel with many health conditions & was very understanding & we deeply appreciated that from him. The pictures do not compare to the actual beauty of this gem & I promise that you will not be disappointed! It’s the romantic trip that you will want to go on with your loved one as it is the perfect setting to enjoy the glistening stars right above your heads. Thank you David for your hospitality & we hope you will have us again, & again! Love, Maggie, Julio, & Giselle :)

    Giselle2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • The place was like our own basement apartment. Nice and tidy with a patio looking out to the water. David gave us a call on the day we were scheduled to arrive to make sure we knew where to go and how to get into the place

    Collin2017-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • David was super awesome & accommodating! He was always available & checked in with us to make sure everything was good! The place was the perfect getaway! It was super clean, cozy, right on the water & really close to downtown! We will definitely be coming back!

  • A great place and a great value for the area! The private entrance made it so that we never actually got to meet the owner in person, but online communication was all we needed! The air conditioning worked great during the hot and humid days. Comfy bed (Temperpedic mattress, I think). Coffee/tea and toiletries were nice touches.

  • Truly an amazing little place. The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. The views are incredible and it’s only a short drive to town for all of the local attractions. There is a grill but I didn’t use it. Microwave and mini fridge were great to have! Only suggestion I have would be to offer recycling. Will definitely stay again if in the area!

  • My girlfriend and I stayed for one night, and we had a great experience! we arrived late, but it was still very easy to find the house and check in to the guest suite with the check in instructions. The suite itself was very clean and very welcoming. Lots of thoughtful touches as well - clear instructions for check in and check out, signs everywhere to explain things, a little bartender table with appropriate glassware and steel mixer, coffee, waters in the fridge, and candles in the bedroom and bathroom. An overall very relaxing escape which we would highly recommend!

Two private bedrooms and one private bathroom in a large shared house. Third-floor bedroom with twin beds and 360° views and second-floor bedroom with double bed and direct access to private bathroom. Relax in our outdoor hot tub. Enjoy Sunday flea market, antiques, hikes, and local vineyards. Our spacious home is a perfect weekend retreat for one or two couples.
We built much of this home ourselves, and the space reflects our family's personality. It's relaxed, informal, idea-driven, and welcoming. We have several multi-use rooms, a very spacious kitchen, a large deck and terrace, and ample parking. We live in a quiet neighborhood about 75 minutes north of NYC in an area of CT great for antiquing, wine, hiking, and leaf-peeping.
Quiet, small New England town with local lakes, nearby flea-market and vineyard. Lovely neighborhood for flat or challenging walk/bike/run (school with track and tennis courts is around the corner). Several nearby towns offer good food, pubs, parks, skating, etc.
  • Wendy and Ruby are super awesome hosts~~~~ They are definitely one of the hightlights of our leaf-peeping trip to Connecticut last weekends!! The house is even more prettier than the pics they have posted here, especially the loft!!! -_^ We literarily felt like waking up among the trees !!! and I love all the pet friends around the house too O^^O My friends and I were a little busy with exploring the surrounding so we felt that we didn't spend enough time chatting with the family >_< But we can already tell that Wendy was so nice and humorous from our little talk at night ^^ We also enjoyed their homemade cookies and muffins !!!! Thanks for making our trip and my first airbnb experience so great <3

  • The place of Wendy and Chris was simply amazing ! They host us like we was family . The house is simply beautiful , hot tub under the stars, fire place at night . Don't miss an opportunity to go there !!! I highly recommend Wendy and Chris house . Both rooms are super comfortable, bathroom is like a 5 stars hotel ! We just want to go back there !! :) Thank you so much Wendy !

  • Wendy and her family are wonderful hosts! The sitting room upstairs is a fantastic little getaway with expansive views. And the hot tub was such a treat - we went in even though it was the coldest night in 40 years. Wendy had hats and robes for us and then when we came inside she had warmed spiced wine for us! She truly goes above and beyond to make you comfortable. The breakfast the next morning was delicious, too. The bathtub is tremendous. Unfortunately, we weren't able to use it because the pipes froze (again, because it was the coldest day in 40 years!), BUT I'd go back again just for the tub! We even happened to find a frozen pond nearby that we were able to skate on. We always have our skates in the car, but Wendy said she had skates and hockey sticks we could borrow if we needed them. Like I said, they go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. She even gave us a bottle of Prosecco upon our arrival which was a wonderful treat! Just an fyi, other reviewers were spot on when they said this is like staying with your family. The conversation is great and the family is super friendly and welcoming. Your room is next to Wendy and Chris' room, the living room is below you. If you are looking for a B&B getaway where you are removed a little and have a lot of privacy, this is not it (this is renting a room in a house, not a B&B per-se even though breakfast is provided). That said, Wendy and her family give you as little or as much privacy as you want, but you are not going to a separate area of the house removed away from everything.

  • Wendy, Chris and the their girls were the most amazing hosts we could have imagined! They were warm, welcoming and incredibly helpful with all our questions. It felt like we were staying with family. Their home is as beautiful as they are and we would recommend them as hosts any time. Looking forward to seeing them in New York!

  • Wendy and Chris were very welcoming! Love their place, our room was very clean and comfortable. They were flexible on check-in / check-out time and they treat us like family! Wendy made an outstanding breakfast and their suggestions on things to do in town were awesome! Would definitely return and / or recommend this place to a friend! Muchas gracias!

  • Wendy and Chris's place is the most ideallic escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The home is a short drive away from the busier roads and down a quaint road and among a serene hill of greenery (or snow, if you're there in the winter like we were!). Chris was there to welcome us as we arrived and they have a visitor parking spot right at the main entrance which is a very nice touch! The inside of the home is incredibly lovely, with bits of thier life together scattered all over in the coziests of manners. The walls are decked out in timeless art and photos of family which really creates a hug like ambience. We settled in the upstairs double room that had plenty of space for two, with a very cozy bed. We visited on one of the first cold, snowy weekends in CT so the house was cold, but Chris was accomodating when we asked for a little extra heat at night! The shower was spacious and the bathroom also has a claw foot tub that was so charming. Wendy and Chris gave us some awesome local suggestions and also welcomed us to hang out with a few glasses of wine after a long day of exploring and weathering the cold. They also had the hot tub up and running from our return from a night out which was very thoughtful and felt incredible in 10 degree weather! They gave us free reign to thier kitchen the first morning and had delicious banana bread baked and ready on the second morning. The best part of the house is the third floor, a hidden artisist oasis with a 360 view of the surrounding land. The natural light is incredible at all time of the day but we were eager to see the sunrise! They stocked the room with plush blankets and it was enough to make us slow down with a cup of coffee and a book and spend nearly 4 hours just snuggled up together in there. Overall, couldn't have asked for better hosts, we were sad to go because their family was so lovely to hang out with! We look forward to booking with them again soon! Highly recommend if you are looking for a cozy weekend away.

    Marissa2017-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • We were warmly greeted by experienced hosts. The home is lovely and in a rural neighborhood. We had plenty of private space from the family/public portion of the home, but felt comfortable everywhere. Good conversation and great recommendations from Chris (too bad we didn't get to meet Wendy!). The hot tub was generously available. I'd be quite happy to visit again!

    Bucky2016-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Chris and Wendy were extremely welcoming hosts, sensitive to our needs and made sure that we were comfortable at all times. They are very friendly and approachable; we felt like their home was ours and we could approach them at any time with a question or concern. We enjoyed the jacuzzi late at night and breakfast in the morning. Didn't get to spend much time with Wendy and Ruby as they had an all-day track meet, but maybe next time! The house has a really neat layout. We got to stay in a nice guest bedroom, attached to a beautiful bathroom, and had full access to the crow's nest upstairs, which I enjoyed the next morning. We ended up staying on probably one of the coldest nights of the winter, but we made it work and enjoyed our stay :) We would stay here again if in the area.

  • Awesome place! great location, would recommend to stay

  • Very clean and new. A lovely space!

    Ruth2018-04-19T00:00:00Z
  • Although in a basement, the apartment has several windows, so it feels just as a ground floor, not as a basement. The apartment was very recently renovated and feels like an luxurious hotel room! Heating was very efficient - there is a climate control on the wall, so you can set any temperature you want very fast. Driving to Yale SOM took us exactly 10 mins, while Walmart is 3-5 mins driving (we walked instead for 15-20 mins). Ricardo is a welcoming host, who lives upstairs. Space is completely private. Will definitely stay there again!

    Ivan2018-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This place is sparkling clean, with beautiful floors and furnishings and a very functional kitchen. The views from the back yard areas were beautiful, and I completely enjoyed my few days here. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

    Hannah2018-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was incredible. Ricardo was wonderful and hospitable, and the space was beautiful and clean. GREAT value for the space and amenities. 10/10 would live there.

  • It's a Go!

    Janay2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • I can't wait to come and stay at Ricardo's again. Thank you so much for everything.

    Karim2018-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time at an Airbnb and it definitely exceeded our expectations. Ricardo was very easy to talk to, responded quickly, and was super friendly. Very genuine and happy personality. The place was clean and well kept. We immediately felt comfortable as soon as we walked it, it felt like our own home. He was fast to help when we encountered car troubles, which came as a great relief since we aren’t too familiar with cars and it was a Sunday, meaning most mechanics/auto shops weren’t available. Overall it was a wonderful stay and I would definitely visit again if I’m by that area!

A great daylight space nested on the edge of the woods. Be close to nature but also close to our house for modern convinces in our house 100 feet away. Please note this space is unplugged, it has no electricity, heat or air conditioning.
Our 165 sq ft Geodesic Dome - Day light with beautiful pine floor. Built from wood growing on our property. 100 feet away is the main house where there is a great country Kitchen and bathroom for your use. The Dome has no power or heat - so it is like camping. We have a great LED light for it.Very peaceful space where you can get in touch with nature and yourself. You are also welcome to tour our Organic Farm and during season, even help out and enjoy some fresh organic produce.
So there's lots of history and in the fall the tress turning color are breath taking. We are located between Litchfield, CT and Woodbury, CT. Woodbury is the antiques capitol of New England, with awesome restaurants and Litchfield has several historic sites and the White Memorial foundation - a 4,000 acres land preserve open for hiking.
Consigliato.

    Manuela2018-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Robert is a great host! When he heard I was headed to Montreal for my next stop he provided some great travel advice. He and his housemates were very kind, friendly, and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place! If you are wondering what to expect in terms of accomodations, I would describe this a "glamping" experience. The geodesic dome includes a bed with a mattress and sheets / blankets, but you will be at nearly the same temps as the outdoors as there is no heating (as indicated in the listing description). I stayed on a really cold night in March (about 30 degrees) and I was really only comfortable (temp-wise) because I slept in a cold weather sleeping bag that I brought with me in addition to all the blankets that were provided.

    Kristin2018-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful experience. Rob was so welcoming, kind and offered terrific local tips. We'll definitely be back when the weather is warmer.

    Jason2018-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay at the dome. It was a great place to unplug and relax. Robert and all of the housemates were kind and helpful in offering suggestions for things to do based on our interests. We were even treated to peach pancakes and some kale for the road!

    Emily2017-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The GeoDome was great! My partner and I had planned on going camping but ditched that idea due to the massive snowfall. The dome was a perfect compromise between camping and staying at a hotel, but be prepared for a cold night if you're staying in the winter. Can't wait to visit in the summer!

    Christina2018-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Robert's beautiful little getaway in the woods. He instantly made us feel welcome, and made sure we had everything we needed for a lovely stay! It rained on our arrival day, so we plan on coming back! Would recommend to anyone looking to get out of the city for a night!

    Milena2014-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and his housemates were so incredibly kind. Once my girlfriend and I got to the Geodome we still had some time to hike, so one of Robert's housemates suggested we check out white memorial park. After a great hike we came back to the house and there were vegan homemade pretzels that were INCREDIBLE! After a lovely night in the dome we were treated to coffee and Robert was kind enough to offer to show us the rest of the farm down the road. I would 100% recommend a stay in the Geodome.

    Evan2015-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed one night in the dome and very much enjoyed it. There is no electricity but the temperature was just fine. Robert provided 2 flashlights and we brought one of our own, and hanging them in various corners of the dome helped illuminate it at night. The woods surrounding the dome are very peaceful and a nice escape from the city grind. As other reviewers have noted, Robert graciously opened his house to us for bathroom and living room purposes. He also made us blueberry pancakes and coffee on Sunday morning. We explored his farm before we left which was fascinating. This is an ideal rental for those in seek of a wilderness retreat, but be prepared that both the town of Bethlehem and nearby Litchfield are very small and quiet with not much to do at night.

This unique "spaceship" built on an old pontoon boat will be sure to offer seclusion with only the gurgling brook to hear.
This unique "spaceship" built on an old pontoon boat will be sure to offer seclusion with only the gurgling brook to hear. The lodge is screened and glassed in. Think of it as a glorified tent! It can be rather creaky because it is made of recycled materials but the integrity of the structure is sound. The bed is lofted 10 feet off the ground and is accessible only by a ladder. Also please be advised that the bathroom and shower facilities are located a few minute walk away in the stone barn. This cabin has small LED lights and drinking water. The lodge has a stone table and chairs, a private fire pit and a small charcoal grill. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are located a few minute walk away in the Stone Barn Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you!
  • Celine and her father and her two kittens created such a beautiful experience for us. We'd definitely recommend Sticks and Stones to anyone needing a retreat. They were relaxed, accommodating, attentive and friendly.

    Anna2015-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • Sticks and Stones Farm is a beautiful place, my only problem was that I didn't have more time to explore! The Labyrinth was amazing and the loft bed pretty comfortable. Celine was very welcoming, but also gave us more than enough privacy. Definitely looking forward to staying again in the future.

    Ben2015-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to go "glamping'! It felt like leaving the real world for a short time and escaping to nature, without needing to pitch a tent or worry about being eaten alive by bugs in your sleep. The owners are fantastic and always available if you ever need them. 10/10!

    Emily2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Pictures didn't do this place justice. It was such a beautiful and relaxing experience. Everyone in the area was super hospitable, too. Will definitely be back again!

  • Pictures don't do this boat house justice. This is not just a place to stay, its an overall experience. One that you wouldn't get any where else.

  • Sam is amazing. The farm is so beautiful. Beautiful and fun things to see everywhere. Everything was clean and well-maintained. The platoon cabin was so cool. It was very private and relaxing. Awesome place!!! The farmhouse kitchen was so cool. The bathroom was super clean. The grounds are gorgeous

    Agustina2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • We were looking for a quiet, close to the nature and unusual place to stay. We found it at Sticks and Stones. Sleeping head in the trees, profiting from a walk in the forest without living the spot; this was just magic. I won't tell you everything, just go and discover ! Thank you Sam for your sense of hospitality.

Dragon-shaped basalt ridges as viewed from the Quinnipiac River and marshes?). Complete 2nd floor apartment sleeps 4 with 2 bedrooms (queen and full beds). We charge a one-time fee of $20 for the 2nd bed, and another one-time $20 fee for the spare futon mattress (which we make available upon request). Fully-stocked kitchen, large dining room, sitting room, and river views. Enjoy morning coffee from crow's nest balcony. Check in at 3pm; check out at 11am. Without the cooperation from our guests, we cannot continue to offer such low prices. Air conditioners/heaters work best when windows are shut.

    Mark2018-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • A clean and comfortable apartment to stay. The neighborhood was pleasant too. We appreciated the excellent communication with Paul and Donna. Our second time staying at Dragon Point and we hope to again in the future.

  • Very clean, comfortable accommodations and Paul provided many great dining recommendations. Conveniently located to downtown. I would stay here again while visiting New Haven.

    Robin2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything was perfect, Donna and Paul go above and beyond in every way. Would definitely stay here again if I'm ever in town!

    Jeff2018-05-10T00:00:00Z
  • Paul is a great host. He got us everything we needed, and made us feel very comfortable while staying. I especially appreciate him saying good-bye to us when we had to leave very early in the morning. He also has very cute little kids and such a family oriented setting made our stay even more valuable. If you are looking for the place to stay in New Haven, I would highly recommend Paul's place :)

Contemporary cliff-hanger overlooking Far Mill River valley. Private entrance to ground floor apartment. Activities vary with season: hike, bike, pick-your-own and other farm activities, zip line, paint ball, mini golf, laser tag, skating, gaming etc. Seasonally-available pool, hot tub, BBQ, outdoor dining, hammock oasis, fire pit, bocce/horseshoes. Near LIS cruises, aquarium, children's attractions, museums, concerts, night life, great dining.
NOTE: If you are planning on bringing a child or two you must request a "special offer" for the payment to be correct. When you're not enjoying our outdoor amenities (see below,) relax on cushy leather furniture in your very own home theater with 65" HD Smart TV and sound bar. Full kitchen has new electric range, refrigerator/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and assorted small appliances. It is fully supplied for preparing full-course meals. The bedroom features a very comfy queen bed, and we have an equally as comfortable queen inflatable in case you bring the kids although most prefer the couches! (Note: 3rd and 4th person with permission only.) The bathroom has a shower only.
This is a prime piece of real estate the developer originally reserved for himself and a total surprise at the end of a very normal looking suburban double cul de sac. And yet we consider a drive of over 10 minutes to get anything - groceries, auto service, medical treatment, pet care, pizza, etc. a totally unacceptable inconvenience! We have a herd of deer, a rafter of turkeys including three huge toms in the spring, an abnormally large red fox, a pack of coyotes, a rarely-seen bobcat, and birds of every feather, including woodpeckers, owls and vultures.
  • Pat and Gabe (and also Rooney) were fantastic hosts, and their home is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed a long weekend out by the pool, used the grill to make some great dinners, and ultimately had exactly what we wanted -- a relaxing weekend away from the city. I would recommend the apartment to anyone looking for a quick getaway! The house is a quick and easy $15 uber away from Metro North, and Pat offered to pick us up! Pat and Gabe gave us our space, and made it feel like we had the place to ourselves. They were kind available when we had any questions, and even gave us some supplies to make s'mores on the grill. You get exactly what they listing shows, and it is as amazing as it looks!

    Ross2016-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • Pat's place is wonderful. Has everything you need inside. Amazing pool, hot tub and view outside. Cool area too. Some fun things to do around including an awesome sports complex.

    Jeremy2016-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Pat's place was lovely. Well-equipped kitchen and of course, the hot tub after a snowy night was divine. Wonderful hosts that were happy to provide some foodstuffs after we got snowed in and couldn't get to a market. Highly recommended!

    Amaya2017-01-09T00:00:00Z
  • Our hosts were very welcoming. They greeted us when we arrived late on a Friday night. The apartment was very nice. It had everything we needed. It was located below their house but still felt like a very separate space. It was a bit foggy through the weekend but the views were still great. Pat even offered us an extra day due to weather, which was very kind. It's a nice apartment in a beautiful location.

    Matt2016-07-11T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was fantastic. I came into town on business, and ended up really enjoying every evening. There was a hot tub made available, which was so lovely on a chilly, rainy night. The quarters were charming and comfortable, and spotless. Pat and Gabe were so welcoming, and their dog was very friendly for the duration of our brief meeting. Also, complimentary ice cream sandwiches, a killer view of the hills of Connecticut, and an expansive flat screen certainly quash the vibe of temporary/traveling digs.

    Abigail2016-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Pat and Gabe are great hosts. They are very friendly and talkative. The appartment is great with a lot of facilities. They appartment is located in the souterrain, hence it has limited daylight, but the great outdoor space and the swimmingpool with stunning view absolutely compensates. I would recommend this place to everyone who is looking to relax and unwind during their holidays. Thanks again Pat and Gabe for the great time we had.

    Jasper2017-06-21T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place with great views

    Anas2017-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time renting a place using Airbnb. Pat and Gabe were absolutely wonderful hosts. Pat had excellent communication before and during our stay. She and Gabe were unable to greet us when we arrived but directions to check in were crystal clear and there was a gift bag full of smores supplies waiting for us inside! The apartment is wonderful. Clean, tastefully decorated, and quiet. The property is beautiful and in a beautiful location. We made excellent use of the pool over our 3 day stay and we couldn't be happier. Our second day I wasn't feeling well and we spent quite a bit of time enjoying the giant television. I briefly got to meet Pat's granddaughter who was over for a visit and is an absolute darling. Unfortunately, I did not get to meet their dog but my boyfriend did and completely adored him. He was well behaved when my own dog was out on the property. The list of activity and dining recommendations was amazing and extremely helpful - don't skip the donuts!!! Thank you Pat and Gabe for a wonderful time!

  • Once you’ve booked your stay, reach out to the host about arrival instructions to ensure smooth checkin.

    Shawn2017-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's place was great and exactly as described. The unit is in the back of the house. It is essentially a finished basement but it is bright, cheery and all above ground. It was spotlessly clean, quiet and the beds were extremely comfortable. The kitchen is huge and has newer cabinets and appliances. I was impressed with the projection tv and the couch was relaxing also. The fireplace was a nice plus. I was also impressed with the thick white bath towels, they seemed brand new. It was convenient for my business meeting in Newtown and was fairly priced. I will definitely stay here again.

  • Excellent expérience and beautiful location! Clean and relaxing environment ! We had a perfect stay. Highly recommended.

    Daniel2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment and Jim were born wonderful. Jim met us out front upon arrival and walked us in to the apartment entrance, which is situated down the hill, behind the house. Despite being a basement apartment, the space was open and well lit and very inviting. Jim showed us how to operate the projector and gave us a brief tour. Other than that we felt as if we were alone on the property for the remainder of our stay. The entire place was clean and suited our needs for a few relaxing days after the holiday rush.

Built in the 80's this stone cabin is nestled just above our spring fed hilltop pond at the end of our main mountain road.
This stone solar-powered cabin has a queen bed and a double futon couch that can be pulled out for extra sleeping space. The beds are made and towels are provided. Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you!
There is lots to do in the towns surrounding Sticks and Stones Farm; Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield, but most of our guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.
  • Sam and her husband built and created many wonderful and quirky cabins at Sticks & Stones Farm. I am amazed how they manage to keep inside the cabin and outdoor composting toilet so clean being out in the woods and all that. Sam really make sure we have everything we need and made us felt very welcoming and at home. The only drawback from the experience is we didn't know the solar panel for our Solar Cabin was broken and there is no power when we book the cabin. We justifies ourselves for booking the Solar Cabin which is the most expensive cabin on the premises for its additional amenities such as power and kitchen, so not having the power was a let down since we planed to both relax and do some work during our stay there. But overall we had a wonderful time there away from the city. Will definitely recommend Sticks & Stones Farm and try other cabins next time.

  • Aloha! Sticks and Stones Farm is amazing. My family stayed in the cabin for a couple of nights and found perfect peace and calm. The place is an absolute gem and Celine is a brilliant host.

  • My girlfriend and I had a great stay at Stick and Stones. The spot looked even better than the pictures and Celine was very helpful. A truly magical place!

  • This place is lovely! The Solar Cabin is nice and has lots of space. You should make sure to bring battery operated lights as it gets very dark at night. The property is beautiful and a great place to explore. Sam is an attentive and kind host, and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. I will definitely be back to Sticks and Stones Farm!

  • Judith was a kind host and the house was clean. However this is listed as an "entire home", so I expected an entire home to myself. What I got was 2 bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor in a house where Judith lives. This is not a separate house in any way. Other than that not-so-small detail, everything was satisfactory.

    Matthew2016-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Judith was a great host and the place is beautiful

    Mark2017-07-22T00:00:00Z
  • Once again, Judith is the perfect host. She communicates in a very timely manner prior to your visit, her her home is sparkling clean, and the accommodations are lovely ! If you find yourself in this corner of Conn., look no further for a place to stay!

  • What a welcoming and comfortable, spacious and convenient location with so many thoughtful and considerate touches!

    Natasha2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Judith's place. Her house is beautifully located outside of Woodbury but still close to some nice restaurants and supermarkets. The house it self is extremely comfortable and spacious and Judith is always available for advise. We have visited some BNB's on our trips but have never stayed in a BNB this nice and also so affordable. From spacious rooms with nice beds to cleanliness to a supper friendly host, this BNB has it all!!

    Henk-Jan2016-08-01T00:00:00Z
  • Judith's home and hospitality were great. A quiet, lovely home in wooded CT. As advertised. Would definitely recommend / return.

    Greg2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • We are so lucky & happy to stay at this warm, cozy & beautiful house again. It is also such a joy to see Judith again! She is as kind, considerate & thoughtful as we recall of her during our last stay, always making sure that we are comfortable & enjoying our stay. Her hospitality is too-notch & impeccable & most importantly, genuine & comes from the heart which make her all the more special !

This cozy spacious studio apartment (not a shared space) has a private entrance. We are close to the train to NYC, SONO (South Norwalk), and the beach. You’ll love this place because of the quiet neighborhood, the comfy bed & cable TV, all utilities incl.
Private entrance & parking. Easy access to NYC and local nightlife (SONO and Downtown Stamford) - just minutes away. Separate dining area & living room. Includes free cable, wi-fi, and heat.
Quiet...great neighborhood for walking & biking. Close to Cranberry Park & town.
  • Thank you for sharing your home with us! It was very clean and very spacious. The bed is so comfortable! You will get the rest you need here. It is a really nice area and very quiet.

  • Wow. This downstairs apartment is a dream space. Better than expected. Such a cool basement. Lots of space, kitchen etc. the bed is right there (no separate room) but I felt safe and there was privacy.

  • Great place to stay. Spacious. Good communication. Great value!

    Alan2017-12-08T00:00:00Z
  • Kathleen and Franco's place is a great little spot for a short to medium stay. They have a kitchenette that you can use (stove, micro, etc.) in case you feel like cooking things yourself. There was a lovely hammock outside, and the only bugs around were fireflies. The house is immaculate and the hosts obviously care a lot about their home and their guest space. The only negatives were things mostly out of their control - the neighbor's motorcycle at midnight, for instance - but overall my stay was a positive experience. Recommended!

    Meryl2017-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • Super clean space and very comfortable. Has everything you need!

    Allison2018-06-15T00:00:00Z
  • This place is lovely! The space was big and private. The only complaint I have is that my husband was woken up early in the morning by footsteps above us. Other than that, everything was super great, and we absolutely would stay again.

    Katie2018-05-29T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay. It was so great to have the small kitchen and private entrance available to us, and the bed was very cozy. It was a bit bright in the morning as we couldn't see curtains or blinds for the windows, but otherwise we had a very nice sleep. Would stay again!

    Meredith2018-04-07T00:00:00Z

New construction! Fully equipped kitchen and all the comforts of home. Quiet country living with a private entrance. Minutes from commuter rail to NYC. Hiking, biking, and cross country skiing. Ideal hotel alternative for wedding and graduation guests or business travelers.
The apartment is separate from our house, over our garage. It is a brand new space that we just renovated including brand new appliances, windows, doors - even the walls and floors! We took care of lots of little details from the cedar-lined entryway to the USB outlets hoping our guests will feel pampered and rejuvenated. When you arrive you will find the kitchen stocked with little treats, cooking spices and other essentials you might want whether you are looking to prepare a meal or just a midnight snack. We invite you to connect to our wi-fi and via the apartment smart TV enjoy any of the almost 300 television shows and over 1000 movies available in our digital collection. If you are really looking to disconnect you will find cards and board games to enjoy.

  • This apartment was perfect for our quiet relaxing weekend away. It had every amenity that you could ask for plus some. Room was cozy and felt like home. Jackie was a wonderful host who went above and beyond. Would happily go back.

    Kris2016-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • This location is perfectly peaceful. The apartment is very cute with many amenities. Including a washer and dryer which were very helpful. We didn't get to see our hostess very much because we were so busy but she did stop by with some tasty locally made cider donuts. Very sweet of her. We were visiting friends in the area and were happy to be surrounded by the peacefulness of this location after a long day.

My cozy, secluded and very private guesthouse is where people feel replenished. A very special, quiet & beautiful energy fills the space. A true getaway. **Please note: I cannot and will not share my sanctuary with trump supporters.
We are totally secluded and private. Most people have no idea the guesthouse space even exists!
Newtown and the surrounding area is just beautiful countryside. Lots of walking/hiking and parks. Great drives.
  • We had quite the pleasant stay in Newtown and Yolie was an exceptional host. The barn is very secluded from the rest of the property and is very quaint and cozy. Before we arrived, Yolie provided us with delicious scones and croissants for breakfast as well as top notch libations for the evenings. Yolie left no stone unturned in making sure that we had a comfortable stay. Though the property was absolutely beautiful with all of the snow on the ground, we are very tempted to make a return trip in the summer and use the fire pit!

    Pete2017-03-26T00:00:00Z
  • Yolie was a kind and well versed host. My spouse, two dogs, and I where welcomed with open arms. Moreover the quality of life she maintained for herself and her secluded property exuded a harmonises stay.

    Zandria2017-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • Yolie's home is the perfect escape from NYC! My husband, myself, and our (pretty big) dog felt right at home. We didn't explore the town too much because Yolie's property is so beautiful that we mainly hung out there and felt so zen!

    Lizzie2017-07-03T00:00:00Z
  • Yolie has created a beautiful space. The apartment is comfortable and lovely with all of the amenities anyone could want. Also, the property is absolutely beautiful - you might even say a little magical. Yolie is generous and inviting in her hosting while still respectful of your privacy. An additional note: if you are electromagnetic sensitive (EHS), this is a good space where you can have control over the wifi and the surrounding environment is clear (such as cell towers and power lines) . We so appreciated all aspects of our stay in this wonderful spot.

    Cynthia2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing weekend spent in Yolie's secret garden. We absolutely loved staying in the barn apartment, super rustic and artsy. All of the small details inside and around the property make you feel like you are truly in another world. We enjoyed the gardens and the Labyrinth, the jacuzzi, the pups, the fire pit... all of it! Yolie was extremely welcoming and helpful. What a lucky find on our end...highly recommend to all looking to escape for a little bit.

    Danielle2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Yolie's guest house was amazing and located on a beautiful property. Everything was exactly as described except the wifi worked better than I expected after reading the description. I would definitely stay here again if I return to CT. Very peaceful and secluded. Yolie is also a wonderful host!

  • First, Eddy was great. We were attending a wedding in Westport and instead of staying in a hotel we found this place. The wedding ceremony was at 6 and the reception went well into the night. Eddy made it easy for us to come in later than expected due to a change of plans. The room was clean and there were two towels and soap, too! Mini fridge and a microwave as well as a tv. We had our own bathroom to use while staying. Although we only spent one night, it was a great experience. Thanks again to Eddy for being such a kind and understanding host.

  • Great place to stay and nice big bedroom with a comfy bed and t.v. Eddy was very nice and accommodating when I needed some dishes. There is a mini fridge in the room as well. The top floor is private and you have your own bathroom. I would stay here again!

    Angela2017-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • The room was sizable, comfortable, and clean. The bathroom across the hall was also very clean. This was a great place to spend the night as I was passing through the area.

  • We loved our stay at the house. Norm was such a great host throughout our stay. House had a very nice layout and it was perfect for our visit to Newtown. Thank you for sharing your house!

    Maureen2018-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Norm and Joanne's place was fantastic. They were extremely friendly (and have super cute pups!) The home was clean, comfy and beautiful. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Megan2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful home in a beautiful location! My family and I had a great stay. Norm went above and beyond to make sure that everything worked out perfectly. I highly recommend!

    Alan2018-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Norm and JoAnn made us feel like we were visiting great friends that were excited to see us. They had everything we could possibly need like laundry soap, dish soap, and bathroom items- down to Q-tips and cotton balls. They even had hotel slippers from their travels that our kids got a kick out of! They had special things for the kids that made them entertained and us all feel special! Their thoughtfulness was so welcoming and was an awesome start to a fantastic week. Norm and JoAnn were always asking if we needed anything and helped out with kayak launching and such. Our kids had so much fun with their sweet and gentle dogs. Their garden is beautiful and we enjoyed many fresh salads. Yum! It was a pleasure getting to know them and their hospitality is that of an old friend. We look forward to visiting again and are so thankful for their efforts to make our trip a blast. Newtown is such a cute town, and we really enjoyed the lake and exploring. The street is tucked away on a private dead end which made walks with 4 kids very easy and safe. Yet we were just a short drive to cute little shops and restaurants. This is a perfect little getaway and extremely family friendly. We will for sure be scheduling visits in the future!! We can't speak highly enough of Norm and JoAnn. Class act, and now our future Air B&B stays will be compared to a very high standard!

    katie 2016-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a fantastic property. The house is comfortable and located in a quiet, wooded, residential area. Excellent location as a home base for day trips or to sit back and relax by the lake or drink tea on the deck. Norm & Joann are friendly and so easy to work with. Our comfort was their priorty. Amazing location for a wonderful vacation.

  • Norm and Joanne are so friendly and welcoming. My theater troupe stayed in their guest house for a weekend and had a wonderful time. They offered to let us use their canoe, kayaks and paddleboard and the house was clean and has everything you could possibly need! They are lovely people and we highly recommend staying with them!

  • Our hosts were very friendly. Their hospitality was awesome. The house is tidy, clean and the beds are comfortable. We would return there without hesitation.

Welcome to our Lakefront cottage. The house sits on one acre with 100ft of waterfront on private Seven Hills Lake. It is family and pet friendly, great for groups or a romantic getaway from the city. In summer you can enjoy the kayaks or fish and swim right from the dock. In the winter you can sled (or walk) from the deck to the water and hop off the dock for ice skating- or stay warm by the fireplace and enjoy the view. 75 minutes from NYC, 15 minutes from the Metro North.
The living space is bright and open with cathedral ceilings, a large wood burning stove, piano, smart tv, and chefs kitchen. Most kitchen supplies you could hope for are stocked and for colder months we’ll make sure you have a dry bundle of wood to start your trip. The entire back wall is made up of sliding glass doors (in the master as well) to the 600sq ft deck with gorgeous views of the lake. The deck has a stainless propane grill, outdoor dining area, and chaise lounges. The master bedroom is opposite the living room with a four poster king bed, dresser, work area and desk, as well as a day bed and bathroom with marble shower. There are two bedrooms and a living area downstairs. The living area has a queen pullout, crib, sitting area, work desk, and smart tv and the guest rooms have queen beds. The shared downstairs bathroom is large with a full bath and shower. The second downstairs bedroom had an ensuite bathroom with a shower. The lower level has a new HE washer and dryer as well as a covered screened porch.
Seven Hills is a very small private community of friendly neighbors. More often than not that means you can have the lake to yourself, especially in colder months. You won’t see many manicured lawns as most of us chose to leave the trees and stay in the woods. It offers a lot of peace and privacy without being completely isolated.
  • This is the perfect space to get away from the city. It’s secluded, quiet and peaceful. We’re excited to head back in warmer weather and take advantage of the lakeside.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here. It was not great weather most of the time but the house was very comfortable and the beds and linens were wonderful. The location was beautiful and I loved sitting looking over the lake from the dining area with a cup of coffee in the mornings.

    Lara2018-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great house, space and location. Definitely recommend this for a relaxing getaway. Our family had a great time. Thanks again!

  • I had the pleasure of staying at Liza's house and it was beautiful. The house is decorated with simple yet elegant things. The view of the lake from the house is outstanding and waking up in the master bedroom with snow on the ground was breathtaking. The fireplace was a great touch and she even supplied wood to get started! The location is close to the train station to get down to the city if that's what you like and only an hour or so from the mountains if hiking is your thing. Liza very responsive and even wrote a welcome letter outlining everything. On return trips this would definitely be a go to for me and it should be for you as well!

    Art2018-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • The view of the lake and surrounding hills from the main floor is really tremendous, especially during the winter. We were there for a romantic babymoon getaway and had a lovely time - cozy bed, wood stove, great kitchen. Very relaxing. Liza was very accommodating in the face of a treacherous winter storm (if you're traveling in the winter months, you will want to have 4-wheel drive, the driveway and hills in the neighborhood are steep). If you get into downtown Carmel, be sure to head to Luigi's Famiglia Cuccina and order off the chef's specials menu.

    Sara2018-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing lake house! Everything was good during our two-day stay! Would definitely come back again.

    Yun2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house and a GREAT value! Peaceful and comfy!

    Anna2018-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay was very comfortable, pleasant and relaxing. Liza was very responsive to any questions and requests we had, and a pleasure to deal with. We look forward to staying at Liza's place again and again.

Danbury is one of the largest cities in Connecticut and carries many hidden gems. Throughout the city, you will be able to find many hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurants with fantastic Italian food as well.
  • It was more than I even thought. I was called to make sure I got in ok and told if I needed anything to please call. The place was very clean and beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable. Great access to all things needed by walking distance. I was just very impressed with my stay. I strongly suggest this to anybody that's in need of a place like this.

Our Mt Laurel Cabin is nestled up our mountain amongst the Mountain Laurel in the woods near the hilltop pond and Rustic Kitchen.
Our rustic Mountain Laurel Cabin is a favorite among guests. Voted Most Romantic, the cabin is nestled down in a glen providing plenty of privacy and all the green you can gather in! You will most certainly feel like you’re in a little love nest the way that the Mountain Laurel branches provide interesting structure along the inside walls of the cabin. This is a single screened in room with a double bed, small couch, table, battery powered string lights and drinking water. This cabin is the most magnificent in the morning when the first rays of sun stream in through the dense foliage. This cabin is located behind the rustic kitchen. PLEASE NOTE -The bathroom is not located in the cabin. Both the bathroom and showers are a few minute walk away on a path through the woods and are located separately. -There is a large communal bonfire pit located about 100 feet from the cabin. Once you book we ask that you keep us updated on your arrival time so that we can be sure to be ready and waiting for you!
Though there is lots to do in the surrounding towns of Newtown, Monroe, Easton and Fairfield but most guests prefer to kick back, stay put and enjoy the quiet energy of the farm setting.
  • Amazing place I will come back here again!

  • We had a great time at Desre's farm. Ethan and Desre' maintain a unique retreat and Mt. Laurel Cabin was a great place to get away from the city. Despite the heavy rain the night of our stay, we had an amazingly relaxing time. Their on-site breakfast was also delicious!

    Jihye2014-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for the nice stay. We enjoyed it a lot

    Larissa2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • This was one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. So much care and love has been put into everything on the Sticks and Stones Farm, and it was wonderful to spend a weekend there. The cabin was peaceful, and it was awesome to wake up every morning surrounded by Laurel branches. The cabin is just a short walk from the fairy gazebo, which is a great place to watch the sunset. We highly recommend the breakfast, which was one of the most delicious we've ever had. Celine and the others working on the farm are all very kind and easygoing. My partner and I would definitely stay here again.

    Amber2016-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is one of the most amazing places we've stayed in America. Sticks & Stones is a surprise retreat in the heart of scenic hilly Connecticut. From the moment we arrived we felt relaxed and ready to experience the entire property. The check-in area at the barn is filled with interesting objects, people, and sculptures. Every square inch of this property has been thought out and beautifully rendered from the rustic kitchen to the wood tree sculpted cabins. Never before I have felt so much at home during such a short visit. We can't wait to come back and experience the property again and visit for all the activities.

    Ethan2015-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • I had a great time at Sticks and Stones Farm! :) Celine was very welcoming and got in touch before confirming the booking to let me know that the cabin weren't heated and would be chilly at night (late October is a bit late for the screened-in cabin). That worked fine for me, but it was great that she let me know before booking—it might matter to others. Once I arrived Celine introduced me to the cabin and made sure I was all set up and then left me to the quiet. I loved sleeping among the trees at the top of the hill... it's a magical place. I spent most of my stay outdoors, wandering around their beautiful property with the fall colors and interesting stone features. I definitely recommend Sticks and Stones Farm!

    Adrian2015-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sticks and Stones is a fantastic rustic experience. Better by far than expected facilities in a spectacular piece of forest, covered with blankets of moss and ferns. Every person I met there was gracious and welcoming. Will definitely go back

    Chuck2018-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Once upon arrival at the farm Sam was very welcoming and to the point with giving us a mini tour of the essential places on the compound. She assisted us to unload and gave us coolers to keep our food and drinks cool (Yes you can bring food, but the fresh food on the farm was divine, as we couldn't resist) Because we were also glad to know of the freshly grown food, Sam offered to bring us some fresh herbs and greens to accommodate our meal. Once upon arrival to Mt. Laurel Cabin (5 min drive uphill by Sam), the cabin was exactly what was expected from the pictures. Atop a hill so your own sense of space surrounded by trees, and the cabin like a tree house was divine. What is great that you're not too far from the kitchen. It was a great stay, very relaxing and soothing. And might I add Mt. Laurel Cabin is one of the most romantic cabins on the farm. Even speaking to the builder of the cabin, Dave, said it was made with love. I would recommend Sticks & Stones to everyone looking to take some time out from the city. Good vibes and amazing stay all around.

  • Our stay at the Urban Garden Suite couldn't have been better. The apartment is lovely and the amenities made the place feel like a mini-spa. The apartment was spotless, the kitchen well-equipped for dine-in options and the location was a convenient, short-car ride from our Yale-centered destination. The keyless entry was also a nice feature--no fumbling for keys, or worse-lost keys. We highly recommend the apartment and would definitely stay there again when returning to the New Haven area.

    Denise2018-05-20T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara's place is exactly like the picture. This is really a great deal for the price and the area. The room is quite spaciaous and the amenities are great.

    Jittisa2018-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • Barbara, Thank you so much for hosting me in your beautiful space. It was beyond my expectations. There were great little touches everywhere, from the dimmer switches and the accent lighting to the varieties of surface textures and plant life that added to the charm of this place, it really felt alive in here. I could tell that a lot of thought went into designing this experience and great care was taken in preparing this space for me. I had a great time here entertaining friends and resting on a really comfortable bed. I will definitely book again when I'm back in this area Barbra.

Private studio loft apartment in the heart of Wooster Square. This third floor apartment boasts exposed brick and hardwood floors with artsy & funky finishes. Has one queen size bed and a full kitchen to make you feel comfortable during your stay in New Haven. Close to universities, science hill, and Yale Campus.
Is perfect to have friends over for hanging and it's private
It is close to everything but still offers a suburban/downtown life style.
  • Neville's place is cozy and comfortable. We loved our stay here, and recommend it to anyone staying in New Haven!

    Andrew2017-04-09T00:00:00Z
  • This place was funky (in a good way) and easy walking distance to downtown. It was a perfect crash spot for a work trip. There were two beds made up, though I saw only one bed in the pictures. We had everything we needed and the place was clean. Overnight parking on the street was easy--there was plenty of room.

    Rachel2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Neville's place is great. A short walk (15 mins) from Yale and very nice. It's just as it appears in the pictures, perhaps a bit better. Very cool loft-style apartment, two beds, large kitchen and bathroom. The peninsula countertop is a great place to sit and work, as well as eat. And the price is right. The stairs leading up into the apartment are a bit narrow and steep, so bear that in mind if stairs are an issue for you. Neville was also very nice and responsive via the app, introduced himself, and offered helpful local recommendations. Would definitely stay here again.

    Greg2017-05-13T00:00:00Z
  • A decent place, sizable. Walk about 1/2 mile to restaurants and the greens. Narrow, steep staircases. Some repairs are in order.

We went kayaking and found a fun alcove to enjoy our lunch and sunbathe. Maureen and Brian were very responsive and made us feel welcome and available if needed. Would go back in a heartbeat.
